Eloise widened her eyes as she noticed the older vampire's skin darkening in an alarming fashion. She'd never interacted much with other vampires, and as far as she knew, the sun was only painfully bright. But for some vampires, she was finding, it could be deadly.

Eloise understood little of bloodlines, besides what she'd picked up from the Covenant. The hunters weren't entirely aware of how good Eloise's hearing was, and so they tended to speak just loud enough for her to overhear them sometimes. Apparently, she was from a bloodline that gave its members abilities regarding pain-manipulating pain, creating pain, erasing pain. Her sire had been able to manipulate pain. Eloise, apparently, could erase it.

Vampires of her bloodline weren't severely weakened by sunlight, either. Eloise had seen her sire saunter through broad daylight without an issue, and Eloise herself was not overly affected by the sun. But vampires like her ancient companion seemed to burn up if they were exposed to the sun's rays, which explained her deadly parasol.

The other vampire mentioned something about her "haven" as she weakened at a startling rate. Eloise liked the sound of that. Maybe, for once in her entire unlife, she would be safe. Eloise couldn't remember what it felt like to be really, truly safe.

First, though, it appeared that her companion needed a shelter, because one of her legs and one of her arms were suddenly...on fire?! Eloise could only watch, paralyzed with fear, as her flesh spontaneously combusted. She dropped Eloise inside the small cave of sorts that she'd located in the woods, with much more care than Eloise would have expected, and crawled in herself, struggling against the fire that was consuming her skin. Then, exhausted, she collapsed onto the ground, her head in Eloise's lap. She muttered something about missing someone before passing out.

Eloise looked down at the other vampire. She was curled up like the small child she appeared to be, and Eloise felt a pang run through her. She'd had children of her own who had done the same thing, an eternity ago. Their faces floated in front of Eloise's eyes as she gently stroked the ancient vampire's hair, wondering who in the world was cruel enough to turn child. She absentmindedly shot a few silver sparks towards the vampire curled up in her lap, unsure if her healing abilities would help. Perhaps they would take away any uncomfortable side effects of almost being burned alive, such as headaches or dizziness? In any case, it was the only thing that Eloise could do.

That, and watching, and waiting. Eloise wasn't sure how long she would have to wait. But she wasn't concerned; she'd been confined to one room for sixty years. She could wait another few hours for the other vampire to wake up.

@Shikaru

Tristan gave a brief nod when Magnus spoke again. "Assuming you aren't busy taking over the area you can come along on the next war outing. I get the feeling it'll be in South America, there's always in-fighting there." He said while he looked to be in thought. "Plenty of jungle to hide in as well so it will literally be impossible for them to keep track of us. They'll probably chalk it up to the chupacabra or some other folk tale." He mused, a little grin playing on his features. Ah the superstitious humans. As if vampires and lycans weren't bad enough for them they had to invent other beasts to prey on them in the dark.

Magnus began to explain his plan a bit more to the larger man, getting the ancient vampire to nod along. "Not a bad plan at all. But don't get arrogant because of the humans inexperience and stupidity. That could lead to heavy losses." He said, having been alive for a long time he got to witness a lot of victories and defeats. Some of which could have been easily avoided if the leader hadn't gotten cocky. "If you need a more stealthy approach somewhere let me know. Where there is light, there is shadow. Where there is shadow...well there's me." He said while grinning widely. Magnus knew of some of his abilities, mostly because he didn't hide his teleportation capability.

Death Troopers, Valk Rooftops

Rushing from roof to roof in a blur, one of the Death Troopers soon came across Magnus and Tristan talking. Rather than engage, however, they pulled back, knowing that backup was moments away. And there was the problem, of course, that Magnus himself was present. It generally wasn't a good idea to storm in and attack the people Magnus was chatting with. Such ventures tended to end in blood.

Of course, it didn't take long for the Death Troopers to rally to Tristan's location. With their usual efficiency a strategy was decided on, as the majority of Death Troopers returned to fortifying the city. Only five Troopers were deployed to Tristan's location. Four colonels and one Brigadier General in the form of South. Of course with Magnus involved this situation was likely to involve internal politics, and as such Johnathan himself was on his way.

When South arrived on the rooftop, he briefly bowed towards Magnus. By his side were two other Death Troopers, Jade and Crimson. If necessary he was wholly confident in his team's ability to take down Tristan, but he had backup on standby just in case. Approaching the pair he spoke up. "Commander Magnus. I apologise for the intrusion, but this vampire is a known rogue. He assaulted a fellow soldier and attempted to slay another. He will face a war court for his actions. Unless, of course, he attempts to resist, at which point we will be forced to execute him on the spot." Those last words caused everyone to tense up for a moment. Weapons were held at the ready as the Death Troopers stared down Tristan. If he tried to attack or make a run for it, they'd be on him in moments.

Magnus Shane

Magnus listened to Tristan as he spoke, his smile still on his face. Freely being able to kill the humans and cause panic with no one being the wiser? That definitely sounded like a plan to him, really more of a vacation from all of this...provided he wasn't of course actually busy. "Mmm, I'll be sure to let you know. That does sound fun." He replied, chuckling lowly, looking along as Johnathan's men started fortifying the town. Everything was going perfectly...it was indeed only a matter of time until everything fell into place as it should be.

Further he listened to Tristans' advice on not to get too arrogant, nodding slowly. Of course he was wholly confident he still knew not to underestimate the humans and their technology, mostly perhaps the technology they possessed. It was the true threat, not the humans themselves. The humans were weak, frail, and the vast majority just not that smart. "I'll definitely keep both your advice and you in mind. You're a formidable warrior, we need all of those we can get." He said.

Of course once the Death Troopers approached and told him what the issue was he look absolutely bewildered, looking over to Tristan. "I see..." He muttered. "Care to give me some context, Tristan?" He asked, arching a brow. Surely there was a good reason for his actions...or at-least he assumed there would be. Unless the Covenant got to him he highly doubted Tristan would attack two of his own on purpose, unless of course the vampire in question was foolish and had asked for it.

Tristan just nodded with a feral grin when Magnus mentioned the adventure down south sounding fun. "Killing is always fun. I might be huge but stealth is more fun than outright slaughter. There's actual challenge to it. Especially with the humans new technology." He said, clearly the type to relish in challenges. Being as old as he was it seemed the challenges were getting harder to find. But maybe that will change in this new war that Magnus just started with the Covenant and the humans.

The giant man raised an eyebrow and gave a mock pout. Which looked utterly ridiculous on him. "Only formidable? I figured I was in the top fifty greatest warriors to ever exist on this planet." He grumbled jokingly. He knew he was one of the best but he'd die eventually some die. Either from an opponents sheer luck, a mistake, or someone finally being better than him. He kind of looked forward to that day honestly, but not enough to welcome it to soon.

Of course the pleasant conversation was ruined by Death Troopers. "This vampire has a name, it's Tristan." He growled to the smaller armored man. "As for assaulting...yes. I asked for her gun nicely before I did anything then she tried blowing me up with some incendiary grenades." He said while folding his arms across his broad chest. "After that didn't work is when we started to actually fight and I did hit her. Stole her gun and broke Blue's glaive with a shot." He continued on as if the story was boring him. "If I had been trying to kill them they would already be dead. You children are a couple thousand years to early to truly best me even with your gadgets." Tristan finished while giving the D.T's a bored look.

"Your operations are still moving smoothly enough even with my interruption of the two Death Troopers, one of which who interrupted a fight I was looking forward to with a halfbreed. I just gave the cocky Blue one a lesson in overspecializing since he ran like a coward after his toy was broken. As I already mentioned to you, Magnus." Tristan explained while keeping his eyes focused on the commander of the operation. He was probably one of the few vampires he trusted since the man got things done and it was always in favor of vampire-kind.
