<Snipped quote by Dynamo Frokane>
I've never used them. My roommates do, or use stuff like tinder. I guess I'm not against online dating because I've had a gf who lived in the UK who I met online, but it wasn't through a dating site and I flew over there to date her regularly anyway. I never actually look for dates or ask anyone out, so putting myself on a dating site kinda seems like...displaying myself for people to pick and choose, and that's not the beginning of any kind of love, imo.
Online dating...tried it a few times but...basically it works like this. Make profile, get 0-2 messages from people, those you get are usually people you would not be interested in so nothing happens there. You decide to message people, 90% ignore you, 10% maybe send back a message. You finally find someone interesting and start messaging, then they either, miraculously find someone else to date or disappear all together. This is what will happen if you are truthful in your profile unless you are a winner in life, then you'll get a flood of messages from people thinking they have a chance to share in your good fortune.
Unless you are willing for the site itself you match you up with people as a matchmaking service, you're just way better off meeting people in reality and maybe you'll connect with someone. Dating sites are one of the easiest ways to feel like nobody gives a
fig about you, avoid unless you are prepared for working really, really hard to find anyone who would even consider meeting you in real life.
I did get a number once, but then they found someone else XD.
