It was a one in a million chance. The First Holy Grail War was essentially doomed from the outset, fundamentally requiring self-interest to be set aside by the extra magi coming in to complete the ritual, and sabotaged by its own requirement to maintain a last Servant to access the Greater Grail when all seven must die to power it in its full strength. Yet something that was not a certain impossibility would one day, in one world, completed according to plan.

By chance, in one point, a particular Servant was summoned with the ability to manifest twice, an anomaly sufficient to enable the ritual's successful completion. Yet another stroke of luck would be needed for it to carry through to completion, for all the Masters to avoid the desire to make their own wishes on the Grail and allow the three founding families to achieve their goals. A long shot even where opening a hole to Akasha would be impossible...

Yet in infinite worlds with infinite possibilities, there would always be one in the end where it all came together. One where the Einzbern regained their prize on the first try and the Greater Grail was shut down after its single activation, its purpose spent. For two hundred years, that was how everything carried on, without the interest of the Church or greedy magi to seek it out. Yet not all records are lost and not all the Einzbern were satisfied without seeing what the Grail could have achieved.

And so one of the descendants of those original assistant magi took an interest and reached out, seeking assistance in restarting the Grail to achieve their wishes. A bargain with devils, sociopaths interested in watching the ritual play out once again with modifications--warping the Grail to be unable to ever reach Akasha and copy their magic, yet incorporating it further. If the Servants were granted physical forms and even the weaker, more desperate Masters were able to sustain their Servants... even if those Servants aren't traditional heroes any further... then surely it would be a more interesting experiment than the formality of the original ritual?

The site selected is Mifune City, re-establishing the war without the Tohsaka's assistance in Fuyuki being all but impossible. Nearly as spiritually rich and without any one family dominating it, its size would make it an interesting playground for this war. From the ten kilometre bridge representing urban renewal to the abandoned downtown areas... it would make for the ideal location.

Copied and modified (with permission) from VitaVitaAR, the rules:

  • No Servants Older than Gilgamesh
    • He's the king of heroes for a reason, the most powerful Servant is also the oldest.
  • No Servants from 1900 or later
    • Known rule of the setting, even if I do think there's some cool candidates from beyond then. Sadly, Simo Hayha will never qualify for anything but perhaps the most far-flung future Grail Wars.
  • Standard Seven
    • We'll be having seven servants and seven masters summoning said Servants. Sorry, but this is going to be a traditional grail war, so first come first serve when it comes to classes.
  • Servant bios are PRIVATE
    • I want all Servant bios to be PMed to me. This is purely for fun, since Servant identities are meant to be kept secret as possible, and if it doesn't work out then Servant bios will be posted publicly.
  • Please sign up with both a Servant and a Master
    • This hurts the last point a little, but ensures there is balance in numbers. Don't worry, you won't be playing with yourself. Pairs will be arranged between players, or I can pair people if they're stuck.
  • If you get yourself into a situation where your character may be killed, I'm sorry
    • The premise of this RP guarantees that Servants will be dying. And if your Master messes up, they're at risk too. However, Servants at least are all famous figures from the past, and shouldn't go down easily.
  • Have fun!
    • That's what this RP is here for. Follow standard RP etiquette and my guidelines, and you should have no problem.
  • Fate/grand order
    • Due to the... extremely mixed bag that is /grand order, I am clearing players to completely disregard incarnations of Servants who have made their debut in /grand order, in case they want to devise their own version of something that has appeared there.
  • Difference from /Stay Night
    • Though established in the same time as Fate/Stay Night, the background is quite different (and the war taking place in the KnK setting, if you wish to look up what sort of locations are already there); the War was never called such as it only happened once and the Church has never been involved. Naturally, everything here comes with no preconceived notions--and some rather physical Servants, with all the flaws and benefits that entails.
  • The Einzbern aren't Participating
    • They might be watching, and acting as the closest thing to an Overseer the War can possibly have, but they aren't actively taking part.

Is knowledge of the Anime required? The concept is incredible, though I haven't watched any of the series yet.

I mean... if you haven't, you'd be in a really bad situation to understand what the basic skills do or the level things operate on. Or how magecraft works.

Some of the games would help a bit, but the anime or VN are kind of necessary?

Oh right, that pre-claim on Saber is me I guess. Huzzah!

And for once I think I might actually make a serious and competant magus for my Master but we'll see how that turns out.

This looks interesting. Haven't tried out a Fate RP where the servant identities are not public before, so this should be fun.

I'll claim Assassin, if that's okay.

Could you define older than Gil? As in, no Servants whose legends take place in a time before his story's setting, or none from a legend that was made before his, or literal age of the Servant?

I could probably take Lancer, if that's okay.

@DarkwolfX37 Gil is the first hero and has the prototypes for almost every NP. Shouldn't that answer it?

@Kost Alter Sorry, someone else PM'ed me for the spot first. I'll let you know if that part changes.

  • Name: Angelee Ethelvet
  • Age: Around ten, physically. One-hundred thirty roughly chronologically.
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: "Why wouldn't you trust this face~?"
  • Personality: Angelee prefers to be referred to as Ange, presenting herself as a rather cheerful girl with an affection for her stuffed toy. In a way, this isn't exactly a lie. Generally she has a rather cheerful demeanor. However, in reality, she is much older then she appears to be, and far more mature then she enjoys acting. Ange is a highly intelligent and shrewd magus who adores toying with and taunting her enemies. Undeniably a sadist, the girl displays a predatory nature towards those who oppose her, and if she's feeling particularly merciless is liable to give them a rather harsh fate if she is able to. She believes that those who involve themselves in the affairs of magi should be prepared for any fate they may meet, and therefore does not believe that she should show any lenience towards even the weakest and most helpless of opponents. However, she is more likely to attempt to kill such enemies in a quick and painless fashion as opposed to any particularly cruel fate.

She loathes involving people who have no knowledge of magecraft, believing that to be far more cruel of a punishment then anything she performs. Ange believes it is poor etiquette and heartlessness, declaring anyone who would drag the unaware into the affairs of magi as 'the worst kind of villain'. Of course, she refers to herself as a heartless and cruel villain as well, but in spite of the assertions she can prove to be a remarkably kind and generous host towards any guests she welcomes into her home. While her heartless and sadistic nature cannot be said to be a lie, perhaps the side of her that simply desires to enjoy herself harmlessly and not care about tomorrow is not a lie as well.
  • Skills: While Ange lacks almost all kinds of practical skills, she is incredibly well-versed in anatomy and various medical procedures. Physically speaking, she is nearly useless and possesses no skills of note.
  • Abilities: Ange's affinity is for Water. As a result, the fluid manipulation magecraft afforded by this affinity proved useful in the various modifications she made to her body to prevent her from dying. However, the initial transformation of her body was performed purely via magecraft. In terms of her capabilities as a mage, she is considered a high-efficiency and high-power magus with a wide repertoire of spells. Among these spells are featured condensed 'bullets' of fluid as well as high pressure beams of liquid. She is also highly capable in spells relating to the flow of energy, and in spells related to healing. However, she possesses a number of more unique traits resulting from the modifications of her body as well.
    • Fangs: Ange has modified her canine teeth into a set of fangs. While she is not a Dead Apostle, her usage of these fangs to gather prana via the nonlethal drinking of human blood makes her easily mistaken for one.
    • Mystic Eyes of Charm: Achieved via delicate manipulations of her eyes, Ange possesses the Mystic Eyes of Charm. Their grade is low due to the artificial nature of their creation, but it is sufficient for her to successfully charm any non-magus, or anyone with particularly weak protections against such interference.
    • Animate Musculature: Ange has modified her muscular tissue so that it will bind itself together if severed, making it much easier to heal injuries, even including severed limbs. However, she was unable to induce any healing processes automatically, forcing her to manually use healing spells.
    • Relocated Heart: Ange's heart has been moved to the opposite side of her body to make it more difficult to kill her via attacking it.

In addition, Ange has applied much of her knowledge to the creation of dolls. While she can hardly be considered on the same level as Aozaki Touko, she is still capable of producing a set of high-grade dolls to be used as guards and housemaids. They resemble traditional french maids and are dressed as such, but when used to attack their bodies suddenly reveal numerous blades and other dangerous implements.

Finally, hidden inside of Ange's rabbit plush is a Mystic Code known as Bizarro Arachne, her most powerful doll collapsed into a minuscule state. When released, Bizarro Arachne expands to its full size, a vaguely feminine body supported by numerous razor-sharp, spindly legs. Highly dangerous to humans due to its thick armor and high mobility, it is considerably less challenging for a Servant provided Ange does not reinforce its body in order to post a more serious threat.
  • Brief Backstory: There once was a magus who lived in London. They were a diligent, hard worker, someone who knew they must do everything they could in order to fulfill their family's name. Someone who placed so much importance on their goals because they knew their family had trusted them. This person wanted nothing more then to fulfill the wishes of their family. And, indeed, they did. They exceeded the wishes of their family. They were met with a success beyond their wildest dreams. But the Mage's Association took notice. And the Association swiftly placed a sealing designation on them. Unwilling to be kept isolated, unable to practice their magecraft, they fled.

They killed again and again until they didn't care. But they knew that there was no chance of permanently escaping such a fate. But they had to hide. They had to find some way to hide that would allow them to operate how they wanted. And so they searched, and searched. They searched as much as they could. They did everything in their power to find something, anything, that would allow them to hide from the Association's sights. And, in a most esoteric writing, they found it. They found an obscure writing. The fate of a certain prophetic magus, who used an unusual method to modify his entire body to become an entirely new person. Age, sex, everything about his appearance had changed. And so the magus found their solution. The process was difficult, but after several months they had reconstructed their body into something the Enforcers pursuing them would never recognize.

A child. A young girl with no resemblance to her original self. The magus laughed to herself. Was it this simple, all along? To become someone else? And yet, it worked. No-one knew her. No-one recognized her. Calling herself Angelee Ethelvet, she found herself free once more. She embraced this freedom. She did everything she had been unable to do before. She took vengeance, unexpected, on some who had wronged her during her flight from the Association's Enforcers. Angelee Ethelvet was free. And she realized that if she could modify her body to such a great extent, why not work further? Grant herself new attributes to further her desires. So she worked, altering her eyes, her muscles, her internal organs, devising ways to make herself more difficult to kill, more dangerous. She became her own test subject, and she relished in everything that came of it.

Angelee Ethelvet eventually ceased her modifications, satisfied. She advanced her magecraft, but it was not much longer before she discovered a certain ritual occurring in Mifune City.

Seemingly, Ange's pursuit of this ritual is on a whim. But is there something she doesn't want to admit to herself?
