THE FABULOUS MR. CLUTCH
IN
EPISODE 5: KIDS THESE DAYS

Just as quickly as the situation escalated it seemed to calm down as the man of steel was able to incapacitate the alien mercenary. But then their victory was halted by the arrival of other villains who took Lobo with them after preventing him and his teammates from stopping them. He found this to be very frustrating since his car had been damaged in this battle and it all seemed for nothing now that their enemy had been taken.

Fortunately his car was still mostly functional and he would have it repaired when they got back to the league's headquarters. While on the drive back Jim listened to some casual music to calm his racing mind. He had felt like he was going die back there when Lobo had tossed his car with him in it and it had scared, he couldn't deny it. He tried to clear his mind of his scared thoughts by shaking his head and thinking about his future glory as a hero.

“I am still on course to be a legend” he said to himself as he pulled up into the league parking lot and got out of his car. Jim was thirsty and he felt like a soda so he went to find himself a root beer to relax and cool down his nerves. After grabbing a bottle of root beer he took a seat and thought about his first mission as a member of the Justice League.

This had been the first time he had ever gone up against a superpowered being of Lobo's magnitude and he felt out of his league. Jim was used to fighting street gangs and terrorists, not alien mercenaries that could shatter buildings and bend steel. He still wondered why in hell was he chosen to be on this mission since he had no super powers.

His thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of Extant who froze everyone and then proceeded to age several of his fellow league members. Jim then noticed that he had remained unaffected by the villain's crazy aging powers and he knew that he had to do something to reverse this power. Jim was grateful to see several other of his teammates were unaffected by Extant's ability, but his positive feeling turned negative when Extant made them become his allies and attack the league.

Jim quickly took out his ray gun and aimed it Extant. If he was the cause of all of this chaos then he was Jim's main target. He hoped that the rest of his teammates who weren't aged or made into a slave by Extant would hold off the villain's guards while he shoot at his foe. Jim took out a cigar and lit it as he pointed his gun at non lethal spots on Extant's body

“Okay punk! Make my day” Jim said with a Clint Eastwood accent and fired several shots with his firearm. He had the gun's power on a lower setting so he didn't kill the man if his shots hit. Jim wanted to stun and incapacitate his enemy and he hoped that it would break his teammates free from his power and influence. He shot Extant in the gut, thighs and shoulder, and Jim hoped that this make him lose focus.

Episode 5 – Polarity Man

Polarity Man could only return the uneasy smile from Apollex (@ineffable) with one of his own, barely showing his mouth through his bandages but still noticeable up close. “Trust me, without the Patroller suit, I’m as much of a lia- err, as much as in danger as you are. I’m sure you’ll save my skin one day in return.” With his teammate in hand, Lawrence took a brisk pace towards the lobby area in order to not overwhelm Lexi while maintaining a sense of urgency. All the while, the rest of his fellow chosen wards of Doctor Fate had successfully kept the hostile heroes at bay though not without a few explosions here and there. Perhaps leaving the mech behind was a boon as it didn't draw as much attention to him.

As they made their way to the elevator that would lead them back to safety, the Blue Beetle (@rocketrobie2) had stepped out and instantly began deteriorating in front of Lawrence. Startled by the sequence, the lieutenant immediately ducked as Ted pulled out a gun, while shielding Lexi in case a misfire occurred. However, the Beetle simply fell on the floor afterwards.

“You’re coming with me, too.” Polarity Man declared with a sigh, placing his neck underneath one of the arms of Blue Beetle in order to get him back up on his feet. With a teammate on each side, the lieutenant escorted them to the elevator and repeatedly mashed the lobby button though this did little in speeding up the elevator door’s closing. As soon as they reach their destination, Lawrence would quickly rush for the Patroller Suit and join the battle against Extant. But for now, they had to endure the soothing tunes of the lift’s music as it descended the tower's levels.

“So… Crazy week, huh?”

EPISODE V: Apollex

Lexi grinned back at Lawrence (@WXer), he was a sweet guy. She listened mildly as he talked, letting her clutch on his arm loosen ever so slightly. How could he be a liability? He was useful...well she thought he was more useful than her anyway. She rarely did anything in terms of kick assery and was more of the behind the scenes girl so Lawrence was one of many people who she looked up to immensely.
"I hope it doesn't come to that." She smiled, in reply to Lawrence saying that she would somehow be able to pay it back by saving him. Apollex was definitely more relaxed now. She had seen that everyone was okay, well as okay as they could be and that all elderly "liabilities" were being moved quite politely, out of the battle. Her included.

She halted as Lawrence stopped. Her mouth opened to ask him why when she spotted the Blue Beetle (@rocketrobie2). A hand came to cover her mouth. Now she really wished her healing powers could work, she hadn't tried them out yet but if it came to it and she couldn't use them she wouldn't be able to forgive herself. Lawrence ducked, pulling Lexi down with him and covering her. How chivalrous She thought to herself before shaking her head. She was thinking about boys now? She was a hormonal young adult, sure but that didn't give her the stupidness of thinking of boys in the battlefield.
"Thanks, Lawrence" She breathed (or more like croaked) before trying to help him carry the Blue Beetle out of the way. Her knees wobbled and she came dangerously close to the floor. She decided that trying to help would just increase the amount of damage done so she straightened up.

As they moved into the lift Lexi leaned against the cold metal railing outlining the walls, catching her breath.
"You could say that again." She raised her eyebrow and started to giggle before she caught herself sounding like a frog having a coughing fit and stopped

The Incapacitated Blue Beetle

Episode 5

Ted groaned and let out a pained grunt as he hit the floor. His footing wasn't as sound as he had hoped and managed to topple over himself and fall before he could let out a stunning-flashes from his Air gun. As he went to attempt to get up he found another arm helping him get up and a friendly enough voice (@WXer).

"Your coming with me, too"

"If... you insi-... insist." Ted struggled to say as he was raised to his feet and brought back to the elevator by the man and an old woman (@ineffable) who Ted assumed was another hero-turned-elderly.

"What she... said..." the exasperated hero stated in regards to the old lady's reply. All things considered this wasn't going to badly for a first stint with the league. He could have ended up being completely useless in some other mission but at least, at the moment, he had a pretty good excuse. Shrugging off his new teammate's support, BB offered his hand to the bandaged man for a handshake and then to the old woman.

"I'm Bl-... Blue Beetle... I missed th-the..." Ted looked to the ceiling and took a deep breath as he began to feel a pain in his chest "the... shindig a... few days ago. Pleasure... to meet you two."

The Warden was starting to find this whole thing rather frustrating. This Extant character was ever so inefficient. Clearly, he has the power to wipe all of them out of existence. But yet, here he is tossing them around like toys, just kind of dicking around. Controlled Warden isn't even intelligent, he just kinda chases whatev-OW!

that cup hurt. that little fucker Captain Marvel threw it. He felt his body attempt to move on and further antagonize the "elderly." He did his best to evade, take the bait and fight Captain Marvel, but he just couldn't get that thought to move his body. So, despite his desperate wants to the contrary, he continued to move after the elderly - after all, a mere cup wasn't really gonna do much to him. As he moved towards where many of the elderly were being lead, he found his path blocked by Lizard. He moaned a warning to get her attention, which is the least he could do as two of his vines swept at her from opposite directions, still hanging from the rafters.

EPISODE 5

The sky left few obstacles in her way just like Lara remembered. Endless freedom wherever she looked, except down. With the wind hurling by, Lara was suddenly struck by a reminder.

Mom!

Lara had left home without so much as a message.

Well, mom going to understand, right?… right? Sure she’s totally gonna understand.

Pretending did little to convince the mind, and Lara fumbled to get a hold on the cellphone she had used for music doing her morning jog. When running did little to increase one’s leg muscles, a bit of Adele soften the chore.

HI, MA'AM. I'M FLAYING BECAUSE FAT IS IN TROUBLE...

Dammit! I can lift an elephant, but I can't fly and text on the same time. Whatever, I just write “Back soon”.

Among the brittle-looking buildings below a marvel of strength appeared. Metro Tower. The elaborate design, the calming colors and the structure even spoke: "Supergirl dear, this is Ravager, we're under fuckin' attack by a mystical being known as Extant. Any aid you can provide would be damn well appreciated dearie."

Neither how they broadcasted it or how they knew she was coming was relevant. Things had gotten bad enough for them to ask the help of an inexperienced girl barely in control of her earth shattering powers. And that was a reason for concern. Time was of the essence.

Hovering above the building for a second, Lara… no, Supergirl gather all her strength and might. Tightening ever single muscle and using her ability to amp up the volume of ass-kicking. When she shot strait down, it was with a force that tore the ground apart in an explosion of dirt and stone that shook the foundation of Metro Tower. She touched down like a meteor inside the room, while ruble rain down. Next second, her telekinesis unleashed a wave across the floor hurling every single dust particle up into the air while her glowing red eyes faded. “Where… is… Superman?” she sneered with a dark voice, so unlike her usual tone. She turned her head to face the people whom had called upon her.

Wait, oh, I guess I landed in an empty room. Alright, no worries, I’ll just try the next. I can totally still flip this. Yeah, for sure. Ehhh, maybe it’s this one.

After punching down a wall, Supergirl got her answer.

Nope, that’s the bathroom. Definitely don’t need to go there, she thought while shaking her hand in pain. Metro Tower had some strong-ass walls. Okey-dokey third times the charm.

This obstacle bursted into hundreds of pieces when her fist connected, and Supergirl stepped into the room filled with computers and screens. In the center stood two elderly people cosplaying as Question and Ravanger.

“Finally! Now, tell me… Oh, god that looks expensive,” Supergirl added, when she stepped on the equipment she had broken when making a doorway. Her more quirky speech returned, as she pointed down. “It can be replaced, right? Just like your roof and bathroom and..." She paused to make an awkward dance. "Ouch… you got some cold floors in here. I mean: I guess I should have worn shoes for this, but I… ehm. Listen I’m Supergirl, and could you tell me what’s going on? You know, if it’s not like totally inconvenient and stuff.”
Looking at them both, Supergirl concluded she could not have made a worse entrance.

July 20th, 2017 - 15:46 | Metro Tower - Metropolis

Just as Duncan had planned, Toon Girl's dynamite did a real number on the Big Brown Menace that was Clayface, blowing what passed for his upper torso across the whole damned room and making a big goddamned mess.

...And just as he probably should've thought about, the blast also knocked him ass-over-head and across the room, bouncing hard enough to leave a series of small divots in the floor as he went until he finally crashed ass-first into the far wall, making a neat person-shaped indent as he stuck into it for a few seconds before falling flat on his face.

"Well... that kinda sucked..." Grumbled Duncan as he stood up after a brief moment on the ground, seemingly unharmed but very clearly starting to get a little mad at the ridiculous turn his day had taken. Which was only exhasperated when he looked down and realized that although he was extraordinarily durable, his clothes were... less so.

Which is, all in all, a very roundabout way of saying he was now basically just standing there in his boxers and (most of his) undershirt with the tattered remains of his tracksuit hanging haphazardly off his body. He didn't have long to get too mad about it, however, because that was about when Monny finally finished putting itself back together and locked his solitary eye on the Rookie with a look that just seemed to scream 'TARGET ACQUIRED'.

He looked to his left and across the room and saw the Warden bearing down on Lizard like something out of a Ridley Scott movie. A glance to his right revealed that Captain Marvel had taken to punching Toon Girl in the face and whipping miscellaneous items at his other warped teammates. And if the sudden shaking of the walls were indicative of anything, it was that there was something else wrecking shit in this tower he hadn't seen yet.

All things considered, things were looking pretty grim and stupid in Metro Tower that day.

"Welp, no way 'round it..." The Rookie flatly stated, shaking his head and cracking his knuckles. "'Deep End' it is, then."

And so, with an audible inhale and a calming exhale, the 'Literally Who?' of the team took one step forward and abruptly sank slightly into the crater that formed around him as his foot hit the floor, before kicking off and rocketing straight through the sound-barrier and closing in on Clayface with a thunderous BANG! and a fist cocked back for the mother of all haymakers.

Was it a good idea? Almost assuredly not. But at least it was doing something.

Episode 5

Featuring Superman, Bulleteer, and @NecroKnight as Lizard

The Monitor Room, where the elderly had been taken...

Superman had been pulled into the Monitor Room with everyone else when his daughter approached the base. Thankfully he'd programmed the security devices to recognize her should she ever finally join the League. He looked up at the reptile girl who was still nearby but his hearing had left him mostly deaf now. The Kryptonian didn't hear the young green skinned girl ask what to do. His sense of smell was still heightened however, and he could smell piss on at least a few of the elderly heroes. Bulleteer was one of them, finally out of his somewhat heavy (for an old man) helmet and sweating like he was in hundred degree weather.

"Haven't they beat the badguy yet, Cisco?" the old bullet man asked another hero sitting up against the wall but still on the ground.

Bulleteer held his arm out to grab at his shoulder. As soon as the man was moved his lifeless corpse fell to the side and his eyewear fell from his face.

"PEOPLE ARE DYING, YOU NEED TO FINISH THIS!" Bulleteer screamed drawing attention to the dead Vibe.

"L...L-L... Lizard...." Superman began saying, "Tell the others to... to... burn... himself... burn himself... out. He's nearly human until he.... powers... back up..." the hero continued before seeing his daughter crash through the wall, then falling into unconsciousness with a bit of drool on his face.

Bulleteer picked himself up. He attempted to get to the chairs around the central computer but moved at the pace of a snail.

"Fucking fuckery!" growled Lizard, as she soon enough got the necessary information from Superman and soon charged out of the Monitor Room. Before pumping into Warden.

"Guy. Sorry about this!" she stated, jumping into the air and with a spin smacked her tail against his head. Enough to knock him back.

July 20th, 2017 - 15:46 | Metro Tower - Metropolis

As the elevator containing the trio of Polarity Man, Apollex and Blue Beetle finally reached the lobby, the lieutenant was the first to get out of the lift. "Alright. I guess I'll just leave you guys here?

"I'll... be fine... I... think..." Ted replied in his exasperated state. The pain in his chest was beginning to get stronger but he was sure it would pass in no time, just some old man aches.

"Yeah, I'll stick with Blue here" Lexi smiled at Polarity man "Thanks by the way." She flutters her eyelashes ever so slightly at Polarity man before linking an arm with Ted.

"What... she said..." Ted added. He knew if he hadn't been taken out of there when he was it was defiantly possible that he wouldn't have gotten out of there at all.

"I promise I'll be back soon. Hopefully with a way to change all of you back to normal. And with that, the Polarity Man raced for his mech suit. As he started it up, he could only wonder what the rest of his fellow unaffected Leaguers had found themselves in, specially against the mutated versions of the elemental members. Speaking of which...

Monny couldn't help but shuffle forwards as it's body continued to act out. The idea that it was going to hurt Rookie even more wasn't sitting well with the Clay Monster. It liked it even less as the man laid in a crater next to the wall he had crashed into.

The hero was made of sterner stuff then most humans. For even as Monny lumbered onwards Rookie picked himself up. Rookie glanced around the room and Monny felt his non-existant heart lift. Oh good! Rookie wasn't going to stay and try to fight it. Rookie was going to run. If Monny was an autonomous monster he would had sat down and the wave of relief crashed over him.

Then the worst occured. Rookie locked eyes with Monny. It was too loud in the room to hear what he said. Instead Monny watched his lips move before Rookie put his foot down, hard. Then the hero was gone. Just like that.

Before Monny even could figure out what had happened it felt it. Monny couldn't feel pain in the normal human sense. But it did feel something akin to acute discomfort when getting a hole punched through it's mud. Especially when a fist goes through the monster's face followed by a male, human body.

It was pretty much as soon as Rookie planted his foot into the ground that he realized a particularly glaring flaw in his choice of tactics; well, two really. One, Monny seemed like kinda of a nice guy and this was... pretty mean... and two; he was now travelling at mach-speeds and, unlike, say a Kryptonian who could bend the laws of gravity to fly around as they saw fit, he didn't actually have a means of stopping. Save for Newton's Laws of Inertia, specifically that bit about 'Objects in motion staying in motion unless acted upon by an opposite and equal force'.

Like, say... the fortified walls of the Metro Tower, specifically built to stand up to assault by superpowered lunatics.

Like the one he was careening towards at this very second.

"Oh God..." The half-naked hero panicked, slamming his feet into the ground and wearing out what was left of his shoes and socks as his heels dug fruitlessly in the floor for some traction to stop his forward momentum "Oh no, oh shit! Oh fuckFUCKFUCKFUCKFU-!"

BOOM!

He hit the wall. And unfortunately for his pride, the wall didn't win. Instead, he kept on going, through the steel door behind that wall. Then through the big window in the nice comfy sunroom behind that door, and straight towards the turd-riddled public dog park behind the tower.

Before the Rookie could do any damage to public property however, Polarity Man had managed to intercept his flight path to the ground. In order to stop him though, the Patroller mech had to crash into him head-on.

"...Mmph! Gonna wizz red..." The Rookie responded quite thankfully to the mother of all kidney-shots, but made no further complaints about being saved from landing half-naked in a field of puppy-patties "...Thanks."

"Think not much about it." Lieutenant Lawrence would respond, though the Patroller's on-board computers would have said otherwise. While The Rookie's collision managed to somehow inflict more damage to his hardware than Lobo, Polarity Man was still determined to end this conflict sooner than later. "I suggest taking the tunnel you created back into the room where Extant and his creations lay. Are you still able to fly?"

"Heh, uhh... funny thing that." Responded with a slight wheeze, still clearly nursing his side, but otherwise alert and ambiable "I can't actually fly. That was jumping."

"Hmm. Then I suggest holding on." With a flick of a switch, the remaining energy cells of the suit powered the mech's jet boosters, allowing the duo to safely re-enter the Metro Tower. Along the way back to their target though, an encrypted message would make its way to Polarity Man's console screen. A plight to one Supergirl, daughter of The Man of Steel. While it was definitely a surprise, it was a welcomed one and Lawrence decided to capitalize on the situation. Connecting to the Tower's Monitoring room, he would send out a distress signal that showed his exact location as he and the Rookie raced towards Extant.

"You've got a plan, right?" Rookie asked, seemingly starting to get his bearings back

"Go for the wizard. Hit him hard and hope for the best." Polarity Man would state. While this was seemingly simple, it was all he could ask The Rookie to do.

Duncan just stared at the Mecha-Clad Man for a few seconds before breaking into a shit-eating grin.

"Yeah... I think I can do that."

July 20th, 2017 - 15:46 | Metro Tower - Metropolis

Back in the dim lit monitor room Supergirl seemed to get the exact push she had asked for. Just about every screen started flashing the same information and map. Some even with visual aid, much to her appreciation.

“YES!” Supergirl sprouted in relief. Turning to the others in the room, she did her best to inherit the virtues and voice of a real-life hero.

“Alright, you, eh… fine elderly people, someone will totally come and escort you out, when all this is over, I’m sure of it. Take it easy, chill and please don’t touch anything. The real Question wouldn’t want that. He’ll probably connect it to alligators in the sewers or somethin’. Superman says he’s kind of obsessed. Bye, bye”

With those words, she raised up from the nagging of cold floor, hovered for a second and then shot strait up like a bullet.

"Superskirt!" Rose yelled after the half-Krptonian hero. "You ever use a fuckin' door, we're trying to save the base dear, not destroy it any damn further!"

Wait, should I maybe have used the same hole I entered through instead?... Crap! Anyway, focus. The hall is… here!

Just as she touched down by the entrance two familiar people approached with great speed. Their movement was like something out of a painting of the Greek gods. The intensity in their eyes, the strength of their expression. Larger than life.

A feeling of being ridiculously under-dressed for the occasion crept into Supergirl's mind. Wearing pretty much the same as your average girl who wanted a workout, minus actual shoes.

“Oh, thank god. Rookie and Polarbear-man! Real honor and all that. Anyway, real quick here: W-what the shit is happening?”

"Polarbear Man...?" Duncan repeated with a raised brow as he climbed off the Lieutenant's shoulder, quickly glancing at him with a silent, barely visible grin that advertised quite clearly that he wasn't going to let that one go anytime soon as his feet hit the ground.

"Hmm. What I would give for the powers of a polar bear." Lawrence would say with a slight headshake."Supergirl, I presume. Our allies in the monitoring room sent a distress signal hailing for you which I had intercepted, and I see you got my followup signal as well. Anyway, a dimensional corrupter known as Extant is erroding the League from within and we need to stop him." Polarity Man would state before setting down his mech. "Alright. Your presence actually makes my plan realizable. I need both of you to distract that wizard and keep him in place as I perform a... let's say, surgical strike. Sound good?" Before any of them could get a word out, the lieutenant himself would phase out of the mech and below the floor. What he had in mind apparently did not require heavy firepower.

"Hey, wai-!" And before Duncan could get a word in, the Lieutenant phased through the damned floor like a b-movie serial-killing monster. "...Well, shit."

Exhaling audibly, the Rookie straightened himself up and tiredly rolled his shoulder a bit, eliciting a few pops from the sore appendage before casually turning to Supergirl and offering out his hand out for a shake...

"Good ta meet'cha. And 'Rookie's just a nickname, you can call me Dun-"

...Before he abruptly froze in place as he looked down and realized that, after all the mayhem of the past half-hour or so had systematically destroyed his clothes, the only thing he had left covering his body was a pair of Canadian Flag boxer shorts. The Canuck's head shot up to meet her eyes again... then back down to his underoos, then back to the Half-Kryptonian again with a blank expression but eyes that very clearly articulated just how loudly he was screaming internally.

"-Can..." he managed to finish, very obviously avoiding her eyes now "Welp, I uhh... I'm just... gonna go beat on the Big Bad Evil Guy now... Okaygoodtalkbye."

And before she could get a word in, the Rookie did just that; slamming his foot into the ground and launching himself towards the fight. Landing hard on the training room floor the Lad wasted no time with speeches or other heroic fuckery, instead taking a second step that fired him towards the ceiling, which he then kicked off even harder to launch himself straight down upon the time-warping douchebag with a spinning, dive-bombing axe-kick that would turn normal people into paste.

Extant laughed at the attempt to shoot him by Clutch. Rookie's strikes landed pretty solid however, taking the red and black clad cosmic being by surprise. He used his power to throw debris at the unaffected heroes. His power however was still weak. Ambush Bug and Amazing Man began to age back to normal. Ice soon followed...

"NO!" Extant exclaimed as the monster made of clay was also shifted back to his original state, "I'm not done with Superman yet! His grandson has to be wiped from existance! His daughter must NEVER join the League..." he continued screaming as another hero landed a shot from out of nowhere.

Lizard took the opportunity to throw Warden away from the Monitor Room. Bum-rushing him inside the kitchen's fridge and closing the door with a loud bang.

Before she picked up speed and went for an alligator rush at Extant. "Oy! Magical Zap! Age this!" she said, cannonballing ontop of Extant. As she soon also kicked him in the knee.

Jim was both shocked and annoyed that his shots had no effect. He cursed to himself as he stopped firing and proceeded to turn up the power setting on his ray gun. He then fired off several more shots and was hoping that this would take down the villain.

"Go down!" he shouted angrily as he kept firing off more shots. He wasn't going to back down from his fight, not when the league needed him most.

July 20th, 2017 - 15:46 | Metro Tower - Metropolis

Huge stone boulders and other debris fell like meteors towards the heroes, before a blinding light turned it all into sand.

At the end of the beam stood Supergirl, who struggled to turn off her laser sight once again, by covering her eyes. No easy task, but after a moment the bright glow in her pupils burned out and it felt safe to open her eyes. Standing in the middle of pure chaos, Supergirl used a moment to adjust to the ever-changing battle going on around her. Her palms felt like they were on fire, and her heart refused to slow down. And for a 19-year-old with limited training, it was more than a little confusing trying to keep up with the violent encounters. Yet she managed to single out the one guy, she had been asked to distract. She paused, breathed in a bit of courage and then launched herself forward.

The enemy, it seemed, readied himself to strike back after getting bombarded with shots. With tremendous force Supergirl collided with Extant, reached around and grabbed him from behind, holding his arm and body still, so Jim could unload his entire arsenal into the sick piece of shit.

“Surprise, douchebag. You’re about to have a real bad day!” she yelled into Extant's ear and grinned her teeth because of the few shots had also happened to grace her.

As the other heroes subdued Extant, the unnarmed Polarity Man finally decided to make his move. Dropping from the ceiling in his ethereal form, he would land behind Extant and Supergirl, protecting him from the firing range of Mister Clutch. "Took a while to navigate the air ducts. Also, you can stop now Clutch." The lieutenant would then raise his hand towards Extant's face. "Isolation of foreign bacteria is quite simple when you're eighty percent radiation and when it's composed of Doctor Fate's magic. In this case, I've concentrated it all on my palm." he would state before plunging his ghostlike fist into Extant's skull.

Lizard didn't notice much of what was wrong, namely her head was ringing rather loudly and she was quite certain that something was broken. Namely it had gone so quickly, suddenly she some young female Superman-like figure.

Then the next thing she felt was that same figure impacting Extant with the force of a freight-train. Or more like a jet. The physical force easily transferred over to her, since Lizard wasn't some dimensional world-changer.

Lizard was also certain, she shouldn't have been travelling that fast into a wall. As the sudden sound of somebody impacting the concrete wall was heard.

She did know, that her breathing shouldn't have been this difficult, or tasting blood or having it drip down from her skin. Or having those iron rods sticking out of her leg, shoulder or arm. 'Yeah...that is not normal,' she thought, before her brain caught up to the pain and broke the red light in her brain.

"AHHHHHGHH!" she screamed out, the pain much worse than she expected it to be. Loud enough to even match Black Canary in volume.

That got the Rookie's attention, who'd been standing there in stunned silence as the Lieutenant stuck his hand directly into Extant's body like some kind of Indiana Jones villain, causing his head to snap up and spin towards the source of that racket, face paling slightly at what he saw.

'Oooooh, Christ, that's a lot of blood...' Was the sole thought pounding through the man's head as he rushed towards the Lizard, appearing as a blur before before he stopped in front of her. Looking over the damage.

'Oh yeah, that's... wow. Shit.' His internal dialogue continued as he exhaled loudly to get over the sight, before he stepped forward and wrapped one arm around her mid-section to brace her on his shoulder as his other hand reached behind her 'Well... first things first, gotta do something about that rebar...'

"Not to sound like a smartass, but try not to move. This... probably won't be fun."

And without further ado, the Haligonian began snapping the bars between his fingers to free her from the wall as gently as he could. Though, unfortunately for Jess, that was still enough to send vibrations through the steel that would be the exact opposite of soothing, even if it only took a few seconds for Duncan to snap all three bars. Gently (well, as gently as possible given the circumstances) catching the reptilian as she fell slightly onto his shoulder, the half-naked, now blood-soaked lad carefully turned and started towards the monitor room. Heading away from Extant and his two remaining tranformed comrades at a brisk walk, being somewhat weary of running at his normal pace while carrying someone full of holes, big pieces of steel and alnost certainly a few broken bones.

Extant's powers continued to fade. More of the Justice League began reverting back to normal and the second Doctor Fate began regaining his youth his eyes crackled with energy and the helmet flew to his hands. Upon placing the helmet on his head the headquarters boomed with mystical energy and power. The gold and blue clad hero from WWII rose into the air and in a flash EVERYTHING began shifting back to as it was.

"Your hatred for the Superman legacy ends here!" Fate screamed picking the depowered Extant up with his raw magical energies.

The two teleported to parts unknown, possibly even another dimensional plane. Nevertheless, the League was back to normal with many of the heroes not realizing what had just went down. The walls were no longer wrecked, Vibe was alive and attempting to breakdance for some reason. And Bulleteer stood with his helmet off in the monitor room wondering why on Earth he had pissed himself.

"What in the hell just happened?!" he asked out loud.

"Extant learned you don't mess with the Justice League..." Superman said looking off into the high ceilings of the lobby in the Tower.

Epilogue

Sector 2813, Krypton

June, 1938...

The female Kryptonian and member of the Justice League blipped into existence just as the villain had said she would. Her planet exploded in front of her eyes and the planet wide boom and shock sent her and much debris flying back further away from the sector. Landing somewhere near sector 1984, Solara finally got herself together in the tattered remains of her alien attire.

"None of this would have ever happened... if I'd never joined the Justice League! Which way is Earth?!?" she screamed in the vacuume of space where nobody could hear her bitching.

"You'll watch your adopted planet die just as I witnessed ours Kal-El. This I swear!" she continued flying towards the closest planet around.

End...

As Rookie carried Lizard, her wounds would soon mend and she'd feel as okay and alright as ever. As she then looked down at Rookie, tapping him on the shoulder.

"Yo...you planning something or what? In the South, carrying a woman like this mea'ns you stole 'er," laughed Lizard, as her focus was back to normal and that previous headache of her' was gone.

"I uhh... wait, what?" Rookie dumbly replied as, very suddenly, the girl e had on his shoulders was... very much not bleeding everywhere anymore. And fully conscious. And almost certainly aware that carrying her like this meant that he was by proxy, basically holding her up by her rear.

"Oh. Well. Umm... right." He fumbled about for words like some cheese-eating highschool boy as he set her down, very clearly not used to this whole 'Dealing with women' thing (you tend to avoid these kinds of things when you grow up knowing you can turn someone into human-jello with a casual hug, after all...) "...Sorry 'bout that.

"Oh come on now. I don't mind, you planning to take me somewhere cutie?" she chuckled, teasing him, as he was basically holding her over his shoulder and holding onto her butt to balance her.

"As long as you mind, I am not your usual girl - like fish and can bruise you easily. Or rather...not you particulary but other guys maybe," she laughed.

'Am I... being hit on?' Thundered a very alien thought in the Canuck's mind as he just stared at the woman as he put her down, brow cocked, face starting to go red and a comical expression formed across his face.

He cleared his throat, almost hell-bent on at least attempting to steer this conversation somewhere else.

"So do you... remember anything that just happened?" The Rookie asked, avoiding her eyes "Because the rest of the team looks kinda clueless"

"I do...do you? My hero, eh? Coming to my aid, after I got smashed into a wall and likely hurt badly?" she chuckled, leaning forward and looking at him. Chuckling a bit, before she leaned forward again - giving him a kiss onto his cheek.

"Thanks for the help anyway...not many have deemed to come to my aid, back when I was still growing up. So what you' did fo' me. Your a solid guy...wan' my number?"

'Holy shit, this is actually happening.' The words pierced through Duncan's (in retrospect, hilariously) inexperienced mind as he tried to process that 'Okay, so just don't fuck it up, don't fuck it up...'

"Eh?"

'DAMMIT!'

Clearing his throat yet again, he started anew... looking particularly (some would say 'comically') jittery for a guy that routinely broke the sound-barrier with his fist.

"Umm... Sure? But we do live in the same building, so isn't it kind of a moot point?"

"Maybe....but when are able to get outside this place...." she chuckled, giving him a wink. "Plus I assume, this isn't our job all day, everyday. We got others things to do as well, no?"

"So what ya' think? Eager to maybe go out and do something fun? Maybe hit a club or go dancing?" she offered, grinning at him.

Looking the reptilian woman up and down, the Rookie's mind finally began working right- Yeah, Lizard was, well, reptilian... but... actually kinda cute in a weird way... and limber... and...curvy...

"I think I can get behind that." He said stated quickly... before his mind drifted further but also before he caught onto his own double entendre "The dancing and the fun times, I mean."

God help him, he'd never been to a club in his life, being more the 'Relaxing in a pub, maybe with a local band on stage' kind of guy. Buuuuuut it'd been a month of new things for him, either way. 'Sides, among the rest of the team, the Girl from the Bayou was ironically, probably the one he could (at least somewhat) relate to the most, scales and all, being the son of a fisherman from a relatively forgettable harbour on the Atlantic and often considered something of a redneck in his own right.

"Hmm in that case, shall we trade numbers then?" grinned Lizard, as she soon had a hand around his neck and pointing at their rooms. He did need to get changed, after his clothing mishap fighting against Extant.

"Or...we could hit a movie - if your too much against going dancing. I might scare likely half the patrons if they saw me looking as I am," she explained.

"Hmm...maybe grab a burger in some joint, eh? Would that be 'kay?" she added, looking at him with her tail, gently swinging back and worth behind her.

"Yeah... that actually sounds kinda nice-" Duncan started, before Vic entered and cut him off.

Exiting the monitor room with a groan, The Question- or rather, Vic Sage, held his mask in one hand whilst massing his temples with the other. Looking around, he spotted two of his teammates talking. He knew Lizard, but the other guy was new to him. "Hey, uh... Either of you know what the fuck just happened?"

The Canuck just stared at the until-recently faceless man for a few seconds, who, whether the Rookie liked it or not, abruptly sapped the energy out of... this... alien conversation he'd found himself in. It was also at that moment that he realized he was still extraordinarily un-clothed. And Lizard, being close enough to oh-so casually be touching his neck, was... well, close.

'Oh, fuckdammit, man...'

Taking a step back, from Jessica, Duncan turned his attention towards the Question and found his usual rough demeanour.

"Some dickhead in red and black tights showed up and turned everyone into wrinkly leather." He explained, visibly just a teensy bit annoyed as he cast a thumb towards his three previously-warped teammates "Woody, Clay and Giggles over there got turned into movie monsters and a character from a weird Japenese porno respectively, until the L.T. gave the douchebag a lobotomy with his fist."

"Hurm. Theory: 'dickhead' in red and black tights has a number of suppressed fetishes, which he vents via evil." Vic says, then pauses as he finally notices the close proximity shared by the two before him. Clearing his throat, he says: "I appear to have approached at a bad time. I'm gonna go to a bar, get drunk, and never think about this again."

With that, the conspiracy theorist walks into the lobby, tipping his hat to his former partner Blue Beetle and saying "hey Ted" as he makes his way to the nearest bar.

After a moment of silence, Duncan finally spoke up-

"So uhh... I'mma go find some pants now. Catch ya later?"

"Sure, see ya later," she giggled, before she left - Lizard, jumped on her tiptoes and planted a quick kiss on his lips - before running away, giggling at that.

The Rookie's eyes widened for a second as he slowly brought his hand to his lips.

"Well..." He started, after a moment of his brain processing what just happened and a small, goofy smile made it's way across his face "...Alright then."

Toon Girl

Things moved super fast and were very blurry once Toon Girl was forced to put on a hockey mask. Heck, considering what happened afterwords, it was all a fevor dream. All she can remember was a female superman, who was later known to be superman's daughter, came bursting through the building and punched her 'master'. Considering she had to call 'Extant' a 'master', she made a mental note to just eviscerate the guy if he tried ANYTHING near her again. That was basically her last thought before someone clobbered Extant and she changed back to normal, falling unconscious.

She woke up a while later, along with all her team mates. She couldn't really remember much of what went on, besides knowing she would give someone called Extant a 'bad time'. Picking herself off the floor, having apparently laid face down, she went to find one of her team members. Passing by a good chunk of battle damage and walking into the lobby, she bumped into the Question and a few other members who were sitting around there. "Hey guys... What happened? Did some sort of crazy party happen and I was knocked out by something or what? Got this weird dream..."

Only now did Lara realize she had ignored her own father, since his older self seemingly represented none of the features she admired him for.
With a strange mixture of shame and relief, she threw herself into his arms and hugged him like only he could endure.
“You did good, Lara. Real good,” he whispered in her ear.

“Thanks, Dad.“ The sudden sense of fright followed, after she said it out loud. Lara looked around on all the people still gathered. Not only was she acting like an 8-year-old, but the fact that she and Superman were related wasn’t exactly public knowledge. And her internal struggle must have been obvious, judging from people’s faces. Lara straightened her back, cleared her throat and prepared to explain away.

Yet just as she opened her mouth, Superman went ahead: “Everyone, I like to introduce you to the newest member of the Justice League: My daughter: Supergirl.” And with the strength of the Man of Steel he started a round of applause.

Lara looked around, slightly smirking, yet also realizing the grim truth: This was the point of no return. She would never again feel like she used to.
No matter how high she flew and reached up, she would never again be able to feel normal.

July 20th, 2017 - 17:02 | Metro Tower - Metropolis

Rose didn't clap along with the other Leaguers as Superman introduced Superskirt as both his daughter and the League's newest recruit. A bitter twing of jealousy reverberated through her chest as she watched the way Lara adored her father, the way Rose had adored her father.

At least, at first.

Superman did something Rose had never experienced though, he returned the affection, the admiration. He glowed with pride looking at his daughter, content with who she was. Rose had never been on the receiving end of these things. Her father had only pushed her to be stronger, faster, deadlier. And when he could teach her no more, he had brought in others to teach her, some voluntarily.

And some by force.

Phantom pain began to eminate from her right eye as the memories of her father's blade flashed in her mind. The cold steel pressed against her face, the sudden shock followed by burning pain as a warm liquid ran down her face, mixing with salty tears all while the 'hero' watched, helpless to stop the monster that was her father.

Putting a hand over her blind eye, Rose brought herself back to reality as she turned to leave the restored training room.

She needed a dart and a drink.

Making her way to an upper floor, Rose exited the building onto a balcony as she over looked Metropolis. Taking a swing from her hidden hip flask, Rose felt the rum warm her throat, erasing any lumps that might have formed there before she gingerly put her lips around a cigarette, lighting the end and inhaling deeply.

Blowing a ring of smoke, Rose leaned over the railing as she studied the city below. Beneath the glistening skyscrapers and clean streets, she knew there was a city that was hurting. It may not have been Gotham or Hub, but Metropolis had a dark side most people couldn't see beyond the large 'S' that protected it.

Shaking her head, Rose rubbed her temple. She couldn't remember a thing from after Extant had appeared until everyone was celebrating below. She hated having her mind screwed with, yet another thing to thank dear ol'Dad for.

'I've got more daddy issues than fuckin' Lucifer.'

Rose smirked slightly at her own internal monologue as she resumed looking down on Metropolis. The League was something the world needed, but Rose couldn't help but think they could do a lot more. The League only responded to events where Supervillains were present, what about the little girls kidnapped in the night? What about the corrupt CEOs of the world, here was so much crime the League did little to intervene within. Before she had joined, Rose was putting down scum left, right and center, it was part of what had gathered the League's attention. But Rose suspected that Bats and 'Wing didn't want her to become her father. The League was just a giant daycare for 'loose cannons' like her.

Letting out an exasaperated sigh, Rose blew another ring of smoke.

"How much longer will I even fuckin' last here?"

Episode 9 Prologue: Magnetic Nightmare
Featuring @rocketrobie2 as Blue Beetle, @WXer as Polarity Man, and Simple Unicycle as the Question

Deep within the Metro Tower exists a room with fortified walls built to withstand a nuclear blast and hosts an exotic collection of diagnostic instruments. This chamber is home to the Polarity Man, who has spent the last few days in isolation as he works away in analyzing the enemies he had encountered from his first official mission and from the unexpected assault on his home. During this self debriefing, the Lieutenant had discovered a fortunate boon that needed to be brought to the League's attention.

As he opened the reinforced blast door that led to his room, stale air would fill the immediate hallway. Luckily, no one lived near him and no one could possibly be curious as to what he was doing. Or so he thought.

"Lieutenant Trainor. Been meaning to speak with you. Need to be filled in on what exactly happened during Extant's attack on the Tower." The Question announced, entering Polarity Man's room despite not being invited. The faceless man sat himself down on a nearby chair, propping his left leg up on his right. "You were uneffected, and the others who weren't effected are currently MIA, so figured it'd be best to come to you."

"The correct term is in action. The others are on missions. Regardless, you've caught me at a bad time. Polarity Man would try to dismiss The Question, choosing to head to the nearby elevator as he proceeded to a location that the fellow faceless Leaguer was currently not at.

"Bad time? Figured it'd be best time, considering we're both not on mission." Question replied, standing up and following the Lieutenant to the elevator. "Need to know how we could prevent another attack like that. Saw that Fate sneezed on you and the other uneffected heroes. Could use that to make serum that renders the League immune to magic."

As if on cue the elevator 'dinged' and opened allowing Ted to see his two teamates chatting. Having been incapacitated in one way or another since his acceptance into the league, Ted was just now getting to explore the magnificent tower.

"Oh hey guys. Man this place is amazing right?" Ted commented as he looked around at the hallway before him. "What are you guys up to?" he asked as he brought his attention back to the duo.

"Ted." Question says, tipping his hat to his friend, before gesturing to Polarity Man: "Was just asking Lieutenant Trainor for rundown on Extant's attack."

"The wizard attack was captured by the Patroller but certain details are... fuzzy. Currently, I need to clean it up. Only then can we discuss the Extant assault in detail. Polarity Man would state, heading inside the elevator.

Ted moved to the side of the elevator to allow PM to have ample space in the elevator. "Fair enough but could you at least give a small run down? I mean one minute I'm going up in the elevator and the next minute I'm sitting in the loby with Apollo." Ted queried as he leaned against the wall of the elevator.

"Apollex." Question corrects, entering the elevator before the doors close. He crosses his arms, propping a leg up against the elevator wall.

"Hmm. Not voice activated." Lawrence would then press all the buttons on the elevator, and awaited for it to start moving before phasing out and returning to his room. "Enjoy your trip gentlemen."

"That ethereal bastard." Question says, staring in disbelief at the elevator buttons which were all lit up.

"No sweat Q, now I've got something to do." Ted said calmy with an amused smile as he crouched down near the button pannel and cracked it open. With a few pulled wires here and sparks there the elevator began making its way down once more.

"Thinks he's the only clever one in this elevator?" Ted said as he stood up from his crouched position, "think again Shinji Ikari."

"Ha. Evangelion reference. Still waiting for fourth Rebuild movie." Question says, exitting the elevator as its door opens.

Ted followed suit as he began to look around for Lawrence in his room. "Hey Polarity! Are you around still!?" Ted called out into the hallway as he looked at all of the technical equipment that littered the room.

"Lieutenant Trainor! Come out and explain what the hell happened or I'll... Or I'll..." Question paused, looking around the room, then spotted a computer. He grinned, "I'll... Destroy that computer." He turned to his former partner, "Hand me something I can use as a bludgeon."

"I think that's a little extreme Q." Ted said looking around and giving his chin a scratch. "Why don't we go check the cameras I assume are around here? I mean I hear Batman is pretty paranoid so it would make sense there's cameras all over here." Ted said as he began heading back to the elevator.

"Right. Let's go to the monitor room, see if he can keep the information from us then." Question replied, turning and going back to the elevator.

Ted proceeded to take a few wires and scrape them together giving movement to the stationary elevator.

Q leaned against the wall, turning towards his companion. "So. How's it been?"

"Well been in and out of the hospital for the past two months due to 'work' related injuries and I got turned into an old man a little while ago but hey," Ted shrugged, "I can't complain."

"Hurm. How's the company?"

"Good enough. The recreation department's coming out with this unicycle but with handle bars to help balance and the wheel's right between your knees. Cool stuff. Make's me wish they had it when I was a kid."

"Just hearing about it makes me wish my mother owned a company when I was a kid." Question jokes, only for the elevator doors to open. "We're here."

As the Question's voice filled the room, a perplexed Lieutenant Trainor could only ask "How?.. before the computer he had been using ejected his disk. "Well, regardless, I'm done here."

"Speak of the devil, here you are!" Ted commented with a proud grin "So now do you have the time to explain the whole Extant fiasco to us?"

"Had enough of your diversions, Trainor." Question said, walking into the room. "Show us footage of Extant's attack. Don't care whether the footage is editted or not."

"You want the footage? Very well." With a quick click of the file, the video soon played on the monitors. Each room's video feed connected to the Tower's surveillance grid played out on individual monitors. Except they were all in static.

"Now do you see why I can't present this in its current state?"

"... Oh." The faceless conspiracy theorist scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "... But can still tell us. You were uneffected. From what I understand, you remember even clearly."

"Just 'cause the footage is corrupted or something doesn't mean you can't pass on what happened through word of mouth. C'mon man, spill the beans!" Ted pressed as he leaned up against the wall.

After a moment of silence from Polarity Man, the Question found his patience wearing thin. "Tell us you irradiated military dog." The facless man growled.

However, their soon-to-be vitrolic conversation was cut off as an announcment was made over the intercom: a branch of STAR Labs in Chicago was attacked by Doctor Polaris, and Green Lantern would be taking the trio, along with Apollex, to investigate. Question paused. "Can discuss later. Come." With that, the trench-coated hero left, the other two following suit.

E P I S O D E VI:
5th DIMENSIONAL HELL

NEW JERSEY :

July 25th, 2017 - 01:22 | Mister Frosty Ice Cream Warehouse - Bludhaven

Icicle got the best of the younger inexperienced heroes and managed to lock James Barr the Bulleteer, the alien plant powered Warden, Vibe, as well as Toon Girl in a freezer with his incredible power. Toon Girl's hands were bound in ice behind her back. Roughly twenty minutes later Superman and Gypsy showed up to free their teammates after Icicle teleported away with Warp and another unknown metal artifact. Superman used his heat vision to simply melt the most of the ice, however he and Gypsy were shocked to find only Toon Girl remained in the freezer.

"What's going on here Toon Girl? Did the others escape? Did Icicle..." Superman began to ask.

The Man of Steel used his x-ray vision to look for the others while the living cartoon seemed a bit more quiet than usual. Something must have spooked her. However within minutes reality began to reshape and change itself. Up became down, left became right, and the world was spinning for the remaining heroes. That was until they found themselves in unfamiliar territory. Superman however, knew the place quite well.

"The 5th dimension? Toon Girl what's going on?" Superman asked.

Somewhere else in the 5th Dimension....

On this planet, in this reality, more and more things resembled cartoons. The citizens seemed smaller, some even had only four fingers. The trees lacked individual leaves and to a degree were more like broccoli. For the most part the citizens of this warped reality didn't even notice the three more normal looking heroes.

"So one minute we're locked in a freezer with a cartoon, now we're in something like Cool World?" Bulleteer asked out loud as dwarfish people passed them on what looked like a busy city street in a Sunday comic strip.

"I love Brad Pitt in that, amigo. I don't see any spider detectives or talking animals in this place though..." Vibe responded looking around.

An omnipotent force watched overhead as the heroes scrambled to keep their wits about them. However 'the omnipotent force' sneezed and the cartoon snot rained down on the heroes. Vibe began cursin in Spanish and it sounded like he mentioned the Nickelodeon tv station and their green slime, but nobody else spoke fluid Spanish to know for sure. That's when the snot itself turned sentient and shaped into several one eyed monsters.

"Sentient snot monsters raining from the sky like some kinda God sneezed.... this is not how I planned on spending my Tuesday afternoon..." Bulleteer said taking to the air.

July 30th, 2017 - 08:48 | Metro Tower - Metropolis

In the wake of Extant's attack on the League, Superman had personally asked Ted to stay on full time at Metro Tower in order to train and prepare the greener members of the League should the Tower come under attack again. Like any good trainer, Ted had woken the group up at the crack of dawn, taking them for a five mile run before returning for breakfast. Breakfast had been nothing but a thick green liquid, engineered by the Batman to maximize nutrional intake and output, unfortunately it sacrificed taste and appearance in exchange.

Looking out over the gym, Ted examined the sparring partners before him as he had Whiplash and Clayface fighting one another for Supergirl and the Rookie traded blows on the other side of the room. Whistling sharply, Ted made his hands into a 'T' as he took a couple steps forward, motioning for the group to come in for a talk.

"Alright, that's enough of that for now folks." Ted said, rubbing his hands together. "Now, we're going to focus on how you work as a team. You've tested each other's strengths, you've built your bonds, but now we're going to work on communication and co-ordination." He explained as a group of training bots emerged from the walls of the training room.

"These robots will take the shape of some of the foes encountered over the years by the Justice League and the Justice Society. Each one will be chosen specifically to challenge the abilities of one of you, meaning that you'll need to work together to compensate for your weaknesses." Ted concluded as the bots began to change shape, the first training bot suddenly expanded in size, as its liquid metal nanites took the hulking form of the being known as Solomon Grundy.

"Born on a Monday..." The bot bellowed towards the Rookie as the second began to vanish from sight before the wispy outline of the Gentleman Ghost stood in its place.

"Good morning Sirrah." The Ghost said with a tip of its etheral hat towards Clayface as the next bot took the form of the immortal Vandal Savage. Spinning a knife around in his hand, the master of warefare eyed Whiplash hungrily as the fnal bot began to transform. Its body turned purple as its mass began to grow only to suddenly shrink down into a wirey frame as beady eyes turned towards Supergirl, a mouth filled with rows of teeth opening wide before snapping shut.

"So, hungry..." The Parasite moaned as Ted took a few steps back before a force field activated seperating him and the recruits.

"Remember, work together." Ted called as the simulated foes began to bear down on the new heroes.

Toon Girl in Episode 6

Great, things went from bad to worse! First an ice villain decides to actually be smart for once and bind everyone up, then her allies get taken to the 5th dimension, and then Superman, Gypsy, and herself get taken there too! "Well Superman... We're in the 5th dimension. I hate it here, can we find our allies and go? I don't wanna be here longer than I need to." Toon Girl said to Superman's question, obviously very distressed and offput by where they were.

"Just be careful here. Logic isn't all that well used here, and it looks like snot rain might be today's weather. Please frost breath the slime that comes down. I hate it." Toon Girl continued, trying to guide Gypsy and Sups down the curvy street, making sure to hide behind Superman whenever a drone came into sight. It was a shame that Bulleteer and her other teammate could've been anywhere, and that they all just had to be next to HIS company.

A T L A N T I C O C E A N:

August 02nd, 2017 - 06:13 | Atlantic Ocean - Atlantis

The tools at the League's disposal never ceased to surprise Rose as she held onto a cargo strap above her head as the League's jumpship made the transition from flight to undersea submersible as it dove below the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Although she had only been a child, even leaving in Cambodia, Rose had heard of the war between Atlantis and the United States when the Atlantean, King Orm had chose to go to war with the surface dwellers.

However, Atlantis was repelled and their kingdom ended up being destroyed during the war leaving the surface world content to believe they would never face another attack from the mermen under the Atlantic. Thus the idea of wearing an Atlantean material hybrid wetsuit into Atlantis never actually crossed the mind of Rose Wilson until she was drafted by the Dark Knight into a mission to intercept a foe known only as Black Manta from retrieving the mystical trident reserved for the ruler of the lost city.

Alongside Rose was once again Jessica Jester, the team's resident aquatic expert. The Lizard being a part alligator, part red-blooded woman was far more suited for the cold murky depths than Rose even in her scaled get up. At the helm of the jump ship was none other than the team's coporate sell out as Mr. Clutch deftly piloted the ship below the surface. Despite all his other numerous flaws, Rose had to admit, he could at least drive. The final member of their squad was the team's resident powerhouse, at least he had been until Superskirt showed up. The current Captain Marvel stood near Rose, his hooded face concealing the content and quiet man as Batman turned away from the helm to address the team.

"The Trident is an artifact we understand very little about. It's origins and limits are vague at best, but what we are certain of, is that it can not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands." The Dark Knight stated as Rose felt tempted to roll her eyes. Everyone and their mom had seen the CNN footage of Orm taking on hordes of the US' best with the over-sized fork. It was more of a shock, that the League had captured the weapon while the war was still happening.

"Black Manta is a new player, we believe he was one of Orm's Lieutenants during the war and now is making a play to put himself in power. It's rather odd given the length of time that has occured since we've last heard from Atlantis, but we can't afford to allow this to go unnoticed." Batman continued. "While Atlantis is predominantly destroyed, there are still pockets of the city with full life support where we'll be able to survive within. Clutch is going to bring us as close as possible to the capital, but it sustained the most damage during the final battle. It's likely we'll be forced to land well outside of it, and find a way through the city's extensive infrastructure."

Taking a moment to look at each member of the team, Batman continued. "The primary goal is to find the trident and get out. Avoid combat at all costs, Atlanteans can survive outside of the city, you cannot." Batman paused, looking towards Lizard. "Not even your physiology will allow you to survive the crushing pressure at this depth." Turning to look at the helm, the team was created by the sight of the destroyed city as the jumpship's lights illuminated the ruins of Atlantis. Crumbling stone and metal work was visible from all sides as faintly functioning shields illuminated several pockets of the once vast city.

Pointing to a pocket towards the center, Batman instructed Clutch to take the ship in.

"Captain," Batman paused as he turned to the group. "I won't be departing with you here, so I'll be requesting that you take point on this operation. I trust you'll be able to keep this group in line." Batman added, his look turning towards Rose who did roll her eyes this time.

"I clearly have more field exp-" Rose began as Batman raised a hand.

"And you're more likely to violate every rule that I've requested of you." He retorted. "Captain, can I trust you to lead this operation?" Batman asked as he turned his attention back to Captain Marvel.

MAGNETIC NIGHTMARE

ILLINOIS:

August 08th, 2017 - 03:45 |STAR Labs, Chicago

"Bill...." said a man in a lab coat walking down a corridor with several doors and rooms as he passed the security guard at his station.

"Steve..." said the guard with his eyes on the cameras and glancing at his cell phone after the scientist passed.

As the large man looked at his cell phone he didn't see the approaching metahuman in the cape and funky helmet on the east wall of the facility. He could definitely hear the wall being ripped out of the side and the two dozen or so scientists screaming when it happened. The guard shuffled out of his seat grabbing a shotgun out of a compartment hidden in the wall. He ran for the east wing of the lab and finally burst through an emergency door with his gun raised. Bill looked around with his finger on the trigger, and saw several scientists ducking for cover and trying to make it towards the exits. Another guard approached him with his pistol drawn and they both nodded. They could hear the guy in the cape monologue'ing.

"Where is the Nth metal, Professor Travis?" Doc Polaris asked with his hand at the mans throat hovering in place.

"Are... aren't you... supposed to be the 'master of magnetism'?" the doctor asked with a grin before the man in the helmet cracked his neck and threw his body.

"MY POWER DOESN'T EFFECT THIS ALIEN METAL OF YOURS. HOWEVER, I'LL CRACK ANYONE'S NECK WHO DOESN'T GIVE ME WHAT I WANT!" Polaris scream grabbing another scientist up with his power.

"Did you hit the Justice League alarm they installed a couple months back?" Bill asked the other guard who nodded, "Then let's see if we can't keep this clown from killing anybody else...!" he said getting louder and catching the attention of Polaris.

The two men emptied their guns and the mad doctor stopped all of the bullets in place Matrix style.

"Fools... I CAN manipulate that metal..." Doctor Polaris boasted repelling the ammo back at the guards.

Metropolis, Metro Tower...

The alarm sounded and the senior member of the League, Green Lantern rallied a group of available heroes together.

"Question, Polarity Man, Apollex, and Blue Beetle.... REPORT TO THE TELEPORTERS! We've got a situation in Chicago..." Alan yelled over the intercoms at the heroes.

Moments later, two blocks down from STAR Labs...

Green Lantern carried Question, Apollex, and Blue Beetle with his powers while Larry piloted his mecha suit into combat. The east wall was destroyed and there was already a police barricade keeping any civilians out of harms way.

"We'll handle this nut, have EMS crews ready for the people still inside!" GL yelled at the officers as he disipated his Star Wars like transport construct. "Question and Apollex, get the remaining guards and scientists out of there. Larry, Beetle, you two are gonna help me take this guy down quick before he finds what he's looking for..." Lantern continued before being blasted through another wall with the magnetic force of Polaris.

"I'll show that idiot Brainwave how it's done! You ready to die Lantern?!" Doc Polaris screamed.
