So I'm back from my mini vacation, and I'm currently suffering the effects of jetlag. Post will be up once I feel less nauseated.

Also, Luck checks have never really been explained all that well in canon, so the way I'm doing this is that d20 represents a maximum value of 200 (A+++) and whatever rank your luck is, that's how many "safe" numbers there are for you to roll) (E = 1, D = 1-2, C = 1-3 etc.). If anyone else has any better ideas on how to implement this, I'm open to suggestions.


I reread this ruling earlier, and while it does seem sensible to those with a smaller amount of luck, but to those with a high amount, they seem to be pretty shafted in this regard. Perhaps make the range a bit higher?

I was thinking as followed.

E: 1-2, D: 1-4, C: 1-6, B: 1-8, and A: 1-10. EX ranks are irregular and can be ranked depending on the source of said rank.

With this range, those with high ranking Luck will have only a 50% chance to survive the worst of things, since such a high number should be more tangible in certain situations. Also it should be kept note that the range should increase more, or the check should be lowered when the effect is of a lower rank.

but how does this work with plus modifiers where A+ luck is effectively twice as much A luck. Effectively making it 100%?

Modifiers doubled stats? I'm fairly certain that in Fate, modifiers call for situational boosts, and are treated as a Rank-Up, and not an x2, in most cases. Then again, I'm not sure how modifiers are treated here.

If you look at the table of numbers. A single + modifier allows you to temporarily double the stat. (B+ actually being higher then A in a burst) and then a ++ modifier triples and a +++ modifier quadruples. So yea. Because of that and how your luck table works A+ can burst pass all luck checks.

So actually another way of doing it with this info is to basically...

E = 1
E+ = 3
E++ = 5
E+++ = 7

D=3
D+=5
D++=7
D+++=9

C=5
C+=8
C++=11
C+++=13

B=7
B+=10
B++=13
B+++=16

A=9
A+=12
A++=15
A+++=18

This better fits with a plus modifier actually reaching into the rank above with that 'burst' since thats usually when you'd do it on a luck check.

Still it causes an issue so.... heres the numbers again but a bit more sense
