Amaya VanIsis

Amaya Smiled as he ruffled her hair "I dont mind tending to your wounds I learned to tend to various degrees of wounds and sickness as a child. I dont mind magic healing but honestly allowing your body to heal in its own way is far more effencient and some bodiees just like yours doesnt hold too well with magic like mine does and magic can possibly put a strain or a slight bandage on the real wound which may allow future battles to make it worse."said amaya in explantion " Plus I caused it with my freak out I need to tend to it myself."she said closing her first aid kit

"But why did you learn it as a child when you have magic that can allow healing?"asked Cecilia

"Because I wasnt always a dragonslayer...in fact My magic was something my mother never wanted to teach me...It was something she always told me she regreted even though she taught me."said Amaya
"why? its so cool and strong."said cecilia
"Maybe but it has a nasty side effect in the long run and that side effect affected all original dragonslayers who learned their magic from the dragons they call mom and dad. But that is something I don't really want to discuss cause even I dont know it fully Im still studying it."she said

Ariel and Nolan - Gods Amoung Us

Absentmindedly, Nolan was walking through the streets of Magnolia with a dazed look on his eyes. After his little talk with Damien earlier that day, he was processing everything that he had told the Blade of Phoenix Wing and was just wandering. He knew he should head back to the guild, but he felt like he needed to be away from the guild for a bit. It also did not hurt to stay away before Jamie found out that Damien and him destroyed the training field.

Meanwhile Ariel was arriving to the town. She'd taken some of the money she'd earned to buy a ride back, because like hell was she going to walk all the way if she didn't have to. At least she was feeling better physically. Though sudden movements were likely to cause her discomfort and she was still fairly sore. Lazily sitting in the buggy she spotted Nolan wandering. He didn't look that great, and somehow she felt that any news she had to give wouldn't help the situation. Honestly she wasn't entirely sure what kind of trouble she might be in.

Stopping the buggy she had the driver drop her off. Hopping out with a wince she headed toward her boyfriend. "Nolan!" She waited for him to stop and turn so she could catch up. "Are you alright? You're not looking so hot." She frowned lightly and tried to see if there was anything noticeably wrong. There didn't seem to be other than he looked to have been in a fight, which wouldn't be that unusual.

The instant he heard her voice, his slacking posture shot up and he turned to her direction. He gave her a warm grin that only she could get from him and no one else. He laid a hand on top her head and gave it a light ruffle. "I'm doing a lot better now that you're here." It was only when it was Ariel that Nolan ever acted like this. After all, she was his break from the world and all of his worries.

"Sorry if I made you worried. Today's been a long day for me, but I'll survive." He chuckled tiredly and scratched his neck, a nervous tick that he had always had.

The tick was one that Ariel recognized, but she didn't want to press to get him to tell her what he was thinking about. He would tell her in time. Or if not then maybe she would have to start prying. They couldn't keep secrets from each other forever if they wanted their relationship to last. But having caught glimpses of Nolan's past she knew that there were some difficult things that could be on his mind. Even though she didn't say anything she let out a sigh none the less which showed her slight frustration. The moment passed quickly which was how Ariel tended to work, dragged around be whatever emotion was the most prominent at the time.

Leaning againt Nolan she smiled and gave him a kiss. "Well I'm glad I could make things better. I hope things weren't too crazy while i was gone." Though she had her own things on her mind she was kind of dancing around them as well.

He recognized that sigh of frustration and knew that she was getting fed up with him keeping his secrets. One day he'll tell her everything, but today was not the day. The moment passed at least and he returned her kiss with a slight blush on his face. He still was not used to this kind of behavior though it is not like he hated, quite the contrary. If anything, this relationship between Ariel and him turned him into somewhat like a puppy following its owner.

Nolan wrapped his arm over her shoulder and held her close his side. "Let's just say that the training grounds may not be useable for awhile." He chuckled nervously, knowing that Jamie is going to get back at him for it. "What about you? You look tired yourself."

Groaning slightly she looked like she might just drop where she stood. "You have no idea. The job ended up being a whole lot harder than I anticipated." She left it at that and glanced around for a second. "I'd actually like to avoid the guild hall at the moment. Could we maybe go to your place?" The request was probably the first time Ariel had actually asked to visit, not that the subject hadn't arisen before but it never really got very far.

His face suddenly went pale as a fresh snow at the mention of going to his house. He's never invited anyone to his house before let alone a woman. No, he had to do this now; Ariel was already tired of him keep his secrets so he had to relent at some point. "O-okay then. You can come over in that case."

Meanwhile The Goddess stood behind Nolan, looking at Ariel with observant eyes. "How interesting..." She muttered to herself.

Ariel let Nolan lead the way to his place. Unsurprisingly he was as nervous as a cat but at the moment the woman didn't have the energy to tease, not that she would right now. For a while she was oblivious to The Goddess but she had noticed her once or twice. It actually didn't click that the other woman was following until they got to Nolan's place. The most odd thing was that the man didn't seem to notice her at all, like she was invisible or something. And he let her in his home?

By this point Ariel wasn't sure if she was just seeing things or if something else was going on. She sat down on the couch and was completely not paying attention to any of Nolan's uncomfortable behavior. She was staring across the room at The Goddess. Finally she couldn't take it any longer and she just had to ask. By this point she had switched to her Earth magic which meant she was curious. "Nolan...who is that?" She pointed lightly at The Goddess.

Nolan arched his brow when he heard her question and sipped some tea that he had prepared for the two of them. "What do you mean? It's just the two of" He glanced towards where Ariel was pointing at first and did not pay any mind to it, but then his eyes darted back over when he realized that she was pointing at The Goddess. "...us."

Millions of thoughts were running through his head at that exact moment and every single one of them collided with each other and left him dumb. How in the world was he going to explain this?

The Goddess on the other hand took the initative. "So you really could see me after all. You certainly aren't an ordinary human after all." She turned to look at Nolan with a smirk and teasingly said, "It looks like you found an exceptional partner. I'm sure your offspring will be strong."

In a flustered state, Nolan shouted back, "You damned hag!" It was then he caught himself in a moment where he really could not salvage the situation.

The exchange somewhat went over Ariel's head. Up to this point she had been dismissing things as her tiredness and experience from the job effecting her senses or ability to think. But now that she was focused she could feel it, the same kind of power she felt from the bracer. While she was connecting the dots she still wasn't entirely sure what she was dealing with.

The color had gone away for a few minutes and Ariel set the cup of tea down. Rather than try and deny what was in front of her she decided to speak to The Goddess. "W-what are you?" The answer had the potential to shed light on her own predicament.

The Goddess chuckled and spoke with a playful timbre. "I am just a poor goddess bound forever to the sword made of my own body, stuck with this living angst that is your boyfriend."

"Why you..." Nolan gritted his teeth for a moment, but then it just occurred to him that this is way too sudden of a change for her to see her. Something must've happened. "Wait, how can you see her and hear her? That is impossible for regular mortals to do."

The Goddess had walked in between the young couple and threw her hat in the ring. "To answer the question that you're both thinking, she has the power of a god running through her veins. I'm surprised that you aren't dead yet to be perfectly honest."

By this point Ariel was shaking where she sat. First the phoenix and now this? She really had no words at this point and she just sat there for a while with her eyes trained on the cup of tea of all things. Not that there was any reason to she just did. Finally she just couldn't anymore and just seemed to relax. "I guess that explains a few things." Putting her right hand to her face she held out her left arm and stared at it. She didn't know how to summon the object though somehow she felt The Goddess would. Assuming she felt the need to help clarify the matter.

"I...I see." Nolan stood up shakily from his seat with a now empty cup of tea in tow. "I-I'll be right back." He rushed off to the kitchen as fast as he could.

The Goddess sighed heavily and shook her head. "Poor kid, it looked like it hit him harder than I thought it would." She glanced over to Ariel, seeing the woman trying to figure out her newly aquired power. "He didn't want to you involved in this part of his world you know. I know he could never say it to you, but out of all the things in the world he wanted to protect you from, this was it."

Groaning Ariel threw her head back and stared at the ceiling. First Penny and now Nolan. She just didn't understand what was wrong with her that these things could even happen. Standing to her feet she paced for a while. This actually wasn't Nolan's fault. She had to let him know that. "It's not your fault Nolan. This happened on the job I just came back from." She wasn't entirely sure where Nolan had run off to so she headed in the direction he'd left.

"Don't." The Goddess told her before she could leave. Her voice alone carried a lot of power, an immense weight alone that would stop a person in their tracks. "What good do you think it will do to tell him something he already knows? He's frustrated, but he is also terrified." She motioned Ariel to sit down though it wasn't an invitation, but an order.

"You mean a lot to him Ariel and the fact that he now has someone he wants to protect scares him more than anything else. Before this you were his escape from this world, his one and only haven in a world where he had lost so much." The Goddess sighed and flopped down next to Ariel even though she does not have a physical body to do so.

Ariel sat down though The Goddess suddenly felt like an opposing force with how she commanded her around. Reminded her how the god she encountered tried to tell her what to do. Speaking of which the bracer appeared on her arm as The Goddess sat down. Ariel did not change thankfully, as that would surely would have made things worse. "Great, well at least now you can see the thing that got me in this mess." With any luck maybe she could gleen more information about how all this worked.

"Oh please, you aren't dead so that's saying something already." It was true, most people would be dead if they gained the powers of a god, but Ariel seemed to have the right constitution for it.

There was a loud crash that came from the kitchen and the Goddess looked back at Ariel. "The heck is going on with him?"

"You tell me. Clearly you know him better than I do." At this point Ariel really didn't know what to do. All of this was way over her head and she was at a loss. She was actually kind of surprised she hadn't heard from the voice she heard at the ruins. Had she killed him or something? Having zero idea how it all worked it could be for any reason. She glanced at The Goddess in case she wanted Ariel to do do something else rather than sit like she had been told.

The Goddess rolled her eyes in response to her and motioned her to go over to Nolan. "Do what you want, Ariel. Just...please be patient with him. He loves you, but it's because of that he holds his secrets even closer." She chuckled a little and glanced back at Ariel with a smirk. "For how gruff he tries to act, he is really a sensitive boy."

"Why would I be anything but?" What did The Goddess think Ariel was, some kind of heartless monster. Getting up she silently headed where Nolan had gone. Stepping through the doorway she paused when she spotted Nolan. Rather than say anything she just waited for him to notice her.

He just stood in front of the stove, waiting for the water to boil. The slayer did not notice that Ariel was standing behind him. His gaze was glazed over with thought and he sighed, looking down at his hands that were shaking. He was tired of all of this; he was tired of hiding and tired of the constant anxiety that came with it. Tired of fearing the consequences for his actions.

It was different when he talked to Damien about his past. To a degree they have had similar experiences, but he did not know how to bring it up with Ariel and it was killing him. He did not want to lose her, he could not deal with the thought of it. Now that Ariel has gotten involved with the world of the gods, he felt like he was getting closer for more of his past to be exposed.

He sighed heavily and turned around and saw that Ariel was standing there. He smiled and chuckled as if nothing was wrong. "Ah, sorry about the noise. I dropped one of my tea pots by accident. Is there anything that I can get you?"

At least Nolan was still holding up appearances. Sighing she walked in and just gave him a hug. She was scared, unsure of what was to come. She didn't need to say anything to convey the emotion. Her magic did the talking for her when it changed to Water. Holding him tight she whispered. "I love you, Nolan. I love you for who you are, not who you've been. Whatever it is I don't care. Forget about it. I don't need to know. "

Her eyes lowered down to the ground. Right now she just wanted to cling to something, anything stable. "I need you... to hold me. I'm afraid, Nolan. I don't know what's happening to me. I don't know what to do." She didn't really want to break down but she was at her wits end. There wasn't anyone else to turn to, and there wasn't alone else she wanted to.

His eyes widened when she wrapped her arms around him without any warning, but his arms wrapped around her reflexively. He was not the only suffering. She was kept in the dark by Nolan for so long and she was struggling with her own demons as well. All he ever did was think about himself, but he never stopped to think about her.

"I'm sorry Ariel... I've been so selfish all this time and I didn't consider how you would feel." She felt so warm, so close to him. This world is so cold and uncaring, maybe that's why he could always find comfort in her. Perhaps that is the one thing that he had been trying to preserve.

He held her close and laid his head on her shoulder while pressing her head closer in to him. "I'll stop hiding. I'll tell you everything... My past, what's happening to you, the Gods, everything." He whispered softly into her ear.

It was hard to tell if she was listening at that moment. Her gaze was still directed at the floor. Ariel wasn't sure if she should explain what happened or not. But it was eating away at her and she said softly. "I killed them, Nolan."

"What?" Nolan was taken aback for a second from what she said. He cupped her face with his right hand and held her face up so that she was looking him in the eyes. "What happened Ariel? Who did you kill?" It was not anger that was in his tone, but rather concern.

"Robbers, they were in the ruins... three of them. They heard a mage was coming so they came to get this." She moved her left arm ever so slightly but didn't let go of Nolan. "I felt the power from the artifact and knew they couldn't have it so i tried to keep it from them. They had an earth mage and he dropped the ceiling on me." She paused. That moment had been running through her head over and over every time she closed her eyes. It had been completely dark.

After a bit she took a breath. "That's when I heard a voice. The god in the object spoke to me, said it could save me. I was going to die down there so I accepted." Tears were in her eyes and she had to take a moment.

"The power, I can't explain it. I broke out and beat the Earth mage half to death like it was nothing. One of the other robbers tried to blow me up with a bomb and I just... I just threw it on the mage even though he couldn't hurt me anymore. I didn't care... I didn't care." Even looking at Nolan her gaze was distant like she could look through him. "I chased down the other two. Crushed one under a pillar and the last one..." Her eyes came back into focus. "I held him up to my face and set off another of the bombs they brought. I watched the fear in his eyes, the terror before he was gone. And I didn't care." She looked like she wanted to fall apart but there was still some small part that felt distant from what happened. Like it wasn't real. It couldn't be real.

"Ariel, it was either you or them. No one is going to blame you for what you had to do. I will never blame you for what you did. You were not in control of yourself." Nolan ran a finger along the tears and wiped them away gently. He sighed and held her close, her face in his chest as he stroked her hair with surprising tenderness.

"What you're feeling now, I understand how you feel. The guilt and the weight that is the life of a person you killed on your shoulders. It will never get easier and for the rest of your life, you will have to live with it, but you don't have to live with the guilt alone." He knew how much of a hypocrite he sounded, but right now he had to comfort Ariel. The pain that she felt was his pain and he knew that whatever he said did not matter. All that mattered was that he was there, holding her close to him.

While Ariel knew that what Nolan was saying was true it didn't really help. "That's the problem, I don't have control. I'm a mess and I have no idea what's happening to me." She rested her head against Nolan's chest and just let him hold her. It was slightly comforting, but right now Ariel was just tired of the situation she was in.

He sighed and kissed her forehead. "What's happening to you is...complicated." Nolan scratched the back of his head, trying to think of the best way to explain this to her. ''I, uh... What happened with this god? Did it make you form a deal with it?"

Putting herself together she nodded a bit. "At first the deal was I would be his champion for the power to survive. But then he tried to take control. It didn't work because I started absorbing the magic. I don't know what kind of magic the god had, like the element or whatever, but I'm pretty sure whatever I ended up with wasn't the same thing." She held up her left arm. I haven't heard anything from the god since then. I'm not sure if he just stopped talking or what."

"If he appears again then I'm going to butcher him." Nolan stated with a viciousness that he had not shown in a long time. How dare this god use her for his own gain!

meanwhile in the room with The Goddess, another appeared. He looked younger but looks were deceving in the realm of gods. He casually looked toward the kitchen where Nolan and Ariel were talking. "Well this makes much more sense now. My dear Ariel has unwittingly been in the pressence of a goddess this entire time." He smirked and shook his head. "And she's dating a man with the power to kill her. How ironic."

The Goddess smirked and laughed, shaking her head. "No, he'll kill you and the rest of the gods. You've simply fanned the flames. After all, that boy is going to change the world whether he's aware of it or not."

The god shrugged a bit. "I may be on borrowed time anyhow. The girl has no control of her abilities and is siphoning off my power. Your champion may be a god slayer, but she will be a god. That is our way is it not? The old gods defeated and replaced by the new. Question is if she'll be able to survive her awakening." He seemed rather calm for someone that was about to die. Admitedly his time sealed away had weakened him some. But he seemed to be thinking about something else. "Mortals continue to surprise me with their creativity. This girl though, she is unnatural."

They're both unusual beings. They'll surpass the bonds of their mortal limits and become a force that will make change the tides. There are not many options left for the mortals in this world; they're running out of time." For now, there was no need to tell them. In due time they will learn.

Shaking her head Ariel just didn't see the point. "I don't know if that would change anything. For all I know he's a part of who I am. That's what happened with the Phoenix." She really hadn't talked a whole lot anout her Phoenix magic. Actually she still hadn't really explained what happened in full with that. Penny had asked her not to talk too much about it.

Nolan knew about the Phoenix Magic that Ariel gained, but he never really bothered asked about it. The thing was that he knew if he asked her about it, she would not tell him. The circumstances around it were too personal for her and he could respect that. Still, it is not like it did not leave a bad taste in his mouth knowing that whatever the circumstances were, she was thrusted into a situation that may have gone badly.

"Only time will tell. Whatever happens we will deal with it." He sighed tiredly and pushed the hair out of his eyes. "We've got a lot to talk about, don't we?"

"I suppose so. I can try explaining things with the phoenix if you'd like. I don't think Penny would mind if I told you about it. Just don't bring it up. But, uh, I think I'd rather know a bit more about the god stuff first. That's worrying me a lot more right now." Shivering a bit she tried not to dwell on what she'd done.

Nolan shook his head in response to her offer. "No need. Whatever business Penny and you have should remain between you two." He looked at her, knowing that she is terrified and desperate for an explanation. "Are you sure you want to know? You may have the power of a god, but you can still a normal life. There's no going back to the world you thought you knew."

It almost sounded like he was begging her to reconsider, but deep down he knew that this had to be done. Even with all the talk about telling her whatever she wants to know he is still scared.

Ariel seemed to consider the matter. If she didn't have to know then she somewhat would like to stay in the dark. But she'd tried to run from her ability and it only snowballed to this point. Perhaps if she knew what the magic had been she would have never touched it. "Will I be in any danger if I don't know?" Somehow she felt that if Phoenix magic was dangerous to have then god magic might be in a similar situation.

His body stiffened in response to her question and grimaced. "Regardless if you attained this power or not, everyone would be in danger." Nolan averted his eyes away from her's and scratched his neck. Even if she knew, would it even help?

Well they were here again. She glanced toward the other room. She could feel that the god she encountered was out there. "I guess you can tell me whatever you think you need to." Stepping back she leaned against the counter. This whole mess was becoming frustrating. Turning her attention to the bracer she tried to figure a way to get it off. But before she could really do more than tug at it it vanished. Sighing she looked back to Nolan.

The whole time Nolan was too focused on Ariel to realize that the god that Ariel encountered was in the other room. He could literally see the transition into anger that his girlfriend was entering and decided to stop beating around the bush before it got even worse. "Where do you want me to start?"

Smacking her head with her palm she shook her head. Sometimes she hated being read like a book but she might as well have her feeling printed out on her head. "Just... I don't know. What are gods? I know what it implies but it's not like they show themselves at all." Crossing her arms she waited.

Oh boy they were going to be here for awhile. Nolan folded his arms as well and closed his eyes, trying to find the right words to explain it. "Gods are...if I had to describe them they are like us, yet they are different." He knew that it was vague description so he decided to try and expand on that. "They are not perfect beings, in fact they are just as capricious as us mortals. They often have the same motivations and flaws that we do."

Nolan scratched the back of his head and wondered what else he could say. "Gods, depending on their hierarchy, can be as weak as us, but the the strongest of them are the reason for God Slayers and other champions exist. The stronger the god, the longer they can live, but their souls are so strong that even if you destroy their body their souls will persist and even regain their physical form. That is if you don't kill them with God Slayer Magic or a god's power Nolan explained as simply as he could about the very basics of deities.

Nodding a bit that seemed to make sense to Ariel. It didn't conflict with what she experienced with god power. She had wants with that magic, and arguably more freedom emotionally. The drawback was she felt superior to everything else. "Okay." Putting her arms down she seemed to be cooling off a bit. "I'm not sure what kind of god I ran into. He didn't give me a name or anything. But I'm pretty sure that he was sealed in the bracer and was hoping to use me as a way out. I think I ruined his plans."

"That's not surprising. You're a living vacuum for magic so the fact that he tried to take control of you was his downfall." He leaned back against the counter and wondered how the god even got there in the first place. It probably meant that his physical body was destroyed and its spirit was sealed away.

"Where exactly did you say that your job was again?" He inquired curiously though he was more or less wondering what else was left.

Taking out the flier for the job she took, she handed it over to Nolan. "It was in some ruins of a cult. Still don't know a whole lot of what they did or believed but apparently they were guarding the bracer. They had a magic barrier around it that hid the power from the outside world. Those robbers blew that up. They didn't seem interested in anything else." She shrugged.

Nolan grabbed the flier and glanced at it. "Cults huh? Did you see any other artifacts there?"

"Uhm... There were a lot of books, some normal weapons, and not much else. If there had been other things they looked like they were taken out a long time ago. I was instructed not to touch anything. The bracer was the only thing that seemed dangerous." Thankfully Ariel seemed to have leveled out and was trying to figure things out.

He nodded in response and sighed with visible relief that Ariel had calmed down. It was a whiplash for him sometimes when her mood suddenly changed, but he knew that she felt it worse than him by a large margin. "I see, well at least we don't have to worry about more artifacts like it then."

He patted Ariel's head and ruffled it gently. "What else do you want to know? We've got all the time you want."

Ariel smiled slightly and gently put her hand around Nolan's. "I don't know. I was actually thinking of asking the god a few questions but he seems to be gone again. I think I have to be wearing the bracer for him to show up." She tried to keep a calm tone because she didn't want to trigger Nolan if she could. But that might be easier said than done.

"And what do you want him to tell you that I can't?" Nolan responded calmly, pulling his pipe out of his pocket and twirling it around his fingers. "He just tried to take your body so do you really think he'll tell you the truth?" As calm as he was trying to act, he was fuming inside. He did not want to smoke for enjoyment, but just as a way to keep himself from saying something he'd regret.

"Who he is, maybe info on the cult. Though I guess that migh not matter. Just something I was curious about. If I'm honest I'm not sure what else to ask you right now. I don't know anything about all this." She stood awkwardly, knowing she'd just made a mistake.

Nolan sighed and placed his pipe in his pocket. "No, no it's fine. You have every right to ask him. I just don't you to be taken advantage of." He averted his eyes away from hers, feeling embarrassed about getting so worked up. It's hard for him to show concern for others the way most normal people do.

"There's a lot I could tell you, but it would be a lot to take in at once." He shifted his arm over to her and grabbed her hand, his gaze still averted away from her. "Could you stay here tonight? I...I don't want to be alone." His face was flushed red and he was shaking slightly.

Ariel blushed a bit.and looked away for a second. Nolan wanted her to stay at his place? Before she could really object or anything she shifted to her Charm magic. "O-of course." And then to Crystal magic. She actually hadn't been around Nolan with this magic before so for once in a while it was an unkbown..Blinking a few times the personality set in. "I like that idea." Immediately stepping closer she gave Nolan a big kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her charm magic was loving, this was something else.

His eyes widened from the sudden kiss and felt her arms wrap around his neck. The initial shock wore off and he kissed her back, wrapping his arms around her waist. It felt like they were kissing for an hour and they may as well had since time felt disconnected at the moment even though it may had been just a minute.

Pulling back, Nolan panted for breath and looked at her with a timid softness he could never show anyone else. The tough, gruff facade that he always put up for the world had melted away and what Ariel saw was a young man who was desperate to find an escape from the world he was in. His eyes gave away his longing, the exhaustion from the weight he had always carried on his own shoulders. The world could have the Nolan that they knew, but this was the Nolan that only Ariel could have.

"Are you really okay with someone like me?." Nolan asked with almost a whisper.

"There you are." She smiled playfully. When Nolan asked if she was okay with him she tilted her head slightly. What kind of a question was that? Putting a hand gently under his chin she looked into his eyes. "Nolan, I wouldn't have anyone else."

Nolan smiled and chuckled softly. "Sorry, but I think I'll always be asking that." His cheeks were a deep crimson and his black eyes almost seemed to shine. His hands slowly unwrapped around her waist and his hands grabbed both of her's. "I know I don't say this enough, but I do love you Ariel...So, so much." He kissed her forehead gently and then went to kiss her lips although it was more timid and briefer this time.

Returning the kiss Ariel giggled slightly. "Besides, we're the only ones that can tolorate each other." Her demeanor made it clear she was kidding, although there was some level of truth to it. Nolan couldn't stand other women and Ariel could be offputting with her wild mood swings.

"We can deal with everything that's going on tomorrow. Right now I just want to spend time with you. Sooo... since you offered, lead the way." She rocked on her heels and waited for Nolan.

If Nolan's face was red before then it may as well be steaming right now. "R-right." He grabbed her hand and lead her away from the kitchen. A thousand things were running through his head all at once and most of it was just anxiety. By the time they got to his bedroom door, Nolan was coaching himself to calm himself down and opened the door.

His room was surprisingly plain and did not have much decoration besides from a cabinet, drawers, and a bedside table. I, um, this is my room I guess. If Nolan looked anymore stiff no one would've been able to tell the difference between him and a plank of wood.

Looking at the room it definitely looked how Nolan might decorate, that being not at all. "Mm, well I'm sure I'll get the chance to do decor eventually." Looking at Nolan she noticed that he was petrified having her in his room. To be fair she wasn't helping being all lovey and passionate. But that was just part of the fun. After a few moments she poked Nolan and he fell over on the bed still stiff.

Dropping next to him she looked over at him. As much as she wanted to tease him she couldn't bring herself to do it. "C'mon Nolan, loosen up. You know I'm not going to do anything rash." Under her breath she managed. "Yet." Though it was entirely possible she was still heard.

Nolan exhaled and stretched his arms over his head on the bed. "I know... It's just that this is a big leap for me. I've been so scared for so long and suddenly you came into my life...It's been a lot." He rolled over onto his side so he could look at her, his hair was falling against his face.

"But I want to do this though." Nolan stretched a hand forward and grabbed hers tenderly and kissed her cheek. "I want you." Nolan stated it as boldly as he could, but his face was flushed and his hands were shaking.

"Want me? Uhm...." The temptation for Ariel's current personlity was overwhelming. Having taken Marlene's additional infatuation with Nolan this was like a dream come true and she was want to oblige.

"Don't make me say it again..." Softly said and wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into him. He could feel his heart almost jump out of his chest and she probably could hear it. He closed his eyes and ran his fingers through Ariel's hair. Being here with her, holding her so close to himself made him feel human. She grounded him back to the world.

Nolan sighed and he unwrapped his arms from around her. He propped himself over her and he looked her in the eyes with longing in his deep, black eyes. "This world really is so cold. It's so uncaring, so impersonal..." He lowered himself down so that his forehead was pressed gently against her head, their lips barely an inch away. "And yet I've found warmth from you."

Smiling Ariel put her hands on either side of Nolan's face, "I'm sorry the world seems to dark Nolan, but I'm glad to bring a little joy to your life." Mulling over what she just said it sounded a tad impersonal to her, which wasn't her intension so she continued. "I was thinking I wouldn't ever find any stability in my life and yet you still want me around. I know I can be a pain sometimes." Despite sounding negative she still had a smile on her face.

Nolan chuckled and said, "Well you're stuck with me now." He smiled warmly and ran a finger along her jawline. "You give me stability too Ariel. With you, I feel like I have a home here. I love you." Closing the gap between their lips, Nolan kissed her with nervous tenderness.

"My body takes well to magic perfectly fine. It's not like I have an immunity to it or something like that. That would make me way too powerful, though it would be nice in some scenarios." Joshua said, clearly amused by the thought. He listened to the conversation that passed between Cecilia and Amaya. Most of the story he knew about, but when Amaya brought up a side effect of her magic, his eyes narrowed and his expression grew serious as he looked at her. "What kind of side effects? Are they deadly? What will they do to you?"

He wasn't sure why he was suddenly concerned, but what he did know was that if there were side effects of her magic, she should either avoid using it to avoid having them occur or they would have to do some research the find out how they could counter said effects. Given that she seemed to be in perfect health right now though, he guessed that, for the moment, things were okay. But he decided he should keep an eye on her.

Hunter Jorgenson|Strike while it's Hot

Hunter watched where Aria had disappeared before sighing, his magic energy returning to a more normal level as he relaxed from his ready stance and turned to leave the field. "Well, suppose it works most of the time, but I'd still teach her some practical combat skills. She can't run and hide every time things get tough, otherwise she'll end up with low self-esteem. Come find me when you think she's ready."

James Hunt|A Student's Tribulation

James glanced up from his reading the tome he was and closed it, storing it away. "We should expect an assortment of low level mages to make up the bulk of their groups. Perhaps an A-Class or two as the leaders of the gangs. However, if there is another stronger group, we should also expect to see S-Class if things don'g go according to their plans."

ENMA

Boredom, that is the word that could describe the last two months ever since the Games had finished. Even though he had done jobs with his guild mates the missions were small time and did not even bring a remote sense of satisfaction. Now he was sitting around with a dull expression on his face and eyed the job board. Seeing as he did not have anything fun to do, he got up and looked at whatever jobs that were available at the moment. Ever since the Games occurred they had received many job requests, so many that it was impossible to meet them all at once.

The only problem was that everyone else was busy and he enjoyed taking requests with his colleagues. Not to mention people fun people like Argus and Malice disappeared without a trace.

"I swear, I love my kid, but there are times that she is a little monster." He groaned, pressing a bag of ice against his head. What happened this morning was stupid; he woke up and one of his daughter's toys were strewn about the floor and lo and behold, he stepped on a pink car, lost his balance, and slammed his head against the kitchen counter. He had told her multiple times to pick up her toys and look where it got them now! He has a bad bruise and she is taking a timeout.

Amaya VanIsis

"Well to start there are three known type of dragon slayers, The 1st generation, which is those like Hunter and I where we learned from the dragos themselves, I call this the true magic. The second type is the second Generation Dragonslayers, they magic from what i read is magic from the dragons just more of a stolen magic put into a lacerima into their bodies so consider those as a experimental DragonSlayer. The thrid Generation is a mixture of the two. It is known that the first generation dragonslayers had two different effects of their magic. The Known Effects are that they either became like their dragons transformation and all or they did not. I read from one's unamed account that those who did not become like their dragons was onl because their true dragons were hidden inside their bodies and form antibodies that helped resist the said change others went through."said Amaya "Atleast from what a mentor I use to travel with had told me from his years upon years of research that he did about the dragonslayer magic" Said Amaya before she got up examining her bookshelf. she sighed not finding what she was looking for before she moved over to the trunk at the edge of her bed digging through it finding the thing she was looking for. She held a large nearly falling apart leather bond book "this was all his research he had gathered of what he could find with the last dragon slayers, linages and whatever else he found. Even I am in there though he found mom and her brother's story out and was shocked but it was centuries ago."she said openeing it to her page that had a drawing of her dragon and her along with known things about the ice dragonslayer and her magic "It doesnt speak of my past but it speaks of my hometown and the location Mother and I lived."she said "he wrote the various things i knew of my magic more for a record so our lost magic wouldn't be so lost and we wouldn't be forgotten to time."she said as Cecilia floated over looking through the book interested

The bushy white eyebrows of Frenzy Plant's general conveyed his misgivings. ”A few hours for a chance at an explanation? Though my long years have cultivated much patience, I confess that I would prefer a succinct and direct delivery of whatever theories you or Sasha might have.” He felt as though he were being used as a springboard. Not every pause in the conversation required his or Fraquar's response; the old tactician did not bear the weight of any major revelations. Any moment now, though, the master of Phoenix Wing might punctuate her interesting suggestions with a much-anticipated reveal, so Sanders remained at rapt attention.

Owen Whately

@Joshua Tamashii

Following Owen's voice approval of Amelia's request for company, he'd expected her to make conversation. In fact, he'd been curious just what she'd talk about. Would she want to know more about Frenzy Plant, or these soldiers in particular, or would she have told of herself and her own guild? Would she have broached the subject of magic, or perhaps pursued shared interests? Though the fencer shared the same dubious outlook of Phoenix Wingers as the majority of his guildmates, he wasn't averse to understanding them better. None of this, unfortunately came to pass; instead of her tongue, Amelia moved other parts.

Guarded curiosity flitted across Owen's features to see the strange objects that appeared to extend from the girl's body. Their weirdness gave the impression, beyond the obvious implication of sorcery, that they were manifestations of magic in some way or another. At least, that's what the southerner assumed. Talented mages often surrounded themselves with enchantments, after all, for aesthetics as much as protection. The intrigue he felt in the face of the unknown faded, however, and he soon took his eyes off the strange girl. If she didn't feel like talking, he and his allies wouldn't intrude upon the silence.

Frenzy Plant Job Board

@Hatakekuro

TROLLBLEMAKERS
2-man job – 0/2 spots taken
Frost Trolls sighted on Mount Lisbet, drove off trappers and stole their hard-earned gold
Large, dirty, prone to fits of violence and swearing, extremely toxic, and with a bad sense of humor
Commander's Note: Lashing out at trolls typically worsens the problem, since they love negative reactions and don't mind getting attacked, but this should be early enough to drive them off for good. Since they regenerate very, very fast, humiliating or otherwise mentally defeating them should yield better results

NOT-SO-SECRET-SERVICE
4-man job – ¾ spots taken
The informant for the guild Petal Storm, who we've been tracking thanks to Eliza's trail of false information, has called in the cavalry. She and three ranking members of Petal Storm are meeting in the Oak Town Historical Society today at noon. A four-man team should be able to storm the meeting and capture all four without too much trouble. Their imprisonment won't spell the end for Petal Storm, but it'll be crippled and perhaps driven by desperation to make a fatal mistake

"So, given you're a first generation dragon slayer, you're going to turn into a dragon if you keep using your magic." Joshua said in summary before looking at Amaya in concern. He took a second to mill through the book, being careful not to damage the already fragile thing, but he already knew it was pointless, given how it was more a record book then something that might have answers. Letting Cecilia hold onto the thing, he looked back at Amaya, frowning. "So outside the wild chance your mother is doing what happened to the first generation slayers of the past, there's no hop of stop your... dragonification?"

Jackie

@Zarkun

"You forget, we don't use many conventional combat tactics. After all..." Jackie started before a mirror appeared behind Hunter and one of Aira's arms came out, holding a glass dagger to his jugular. "... We're assassin's, not fighters. We can hold our own for sure, but our mentality to combat is different from soldiers and berserkers like yourself."

Amelia Averyonna

@Lugubrious

Amelia was surprised when the man from before didn't bother her about her wings. Then again, Frenzy Plant never struck her as really caring for much outside of big details. Frowning, she examined the man in silence for a few seconds before finally speaking.
"I don't believe we actually introduced ourselves, did we sir? I'm Amelia Averyonna, Master Jamie's daughter by adoption. I'm a spirit mage. May I possibly ask you for your name and maybe the type of magic you use?" She said, keeping her tone formal and polite. She knew that Frenzy Plant didn't think highly of her mother but she figured it wouldn't hurt to let them know. Though she guessed they might also think that she might was some form of preferential treatment, which she did not.

Jamie sighed, and shifted, thinking on her words for some time before she spoke, "I will not force any one of my members to do something when they are not yet ready. As I believe Sasha would like all the guild Master's here, and Jack is not yet here, I would rather leave it to her, but...

No one can say for sure what happened 100 years ago... I know many think that Zeref perished, with the missing guild members from Fairy Tail, Blue Peagus, Sabertooth and Lamia scale... And the dragon Archnolia. The island... well, it can never be found unless you are Fairy tail, carrying their blood. Oh, many mages have tried over the years, thinking that it might be a safe place from mage hunters- we all know they were a thing, and quickly adapted to rune knights when we started to come back, and build guilds again.

We can speculate that, given the nature of Dragon slayers, or many other slayers for that matter, the extent of the magic the slayers used, they changed, became the dragons they were guided to be, but... I don't think that is it. I think... they used their last strengths to try and overwhelm Zeref and his dragon, and something happened... trapping them all within the island. Perhaps the island itself sought to protect the world, although it was already too late then, the damage was done, and its taken 100 years to even get close to the former glory of magic.

Only, I think the islands power weakens, and that is the reason for the increase in natural disasters" She said, looking to Sanders, "Does that satisfy you, for now?"

Cody Bloodstein

@Zarkun
"I see. Doesn't sound too difficult then, unless there are S-Classes of course." Cody remarked, allowing himself to relax some. He was certain that he and James could handle the assortment of low level mages just fine, James in particular. The leaders were of course going to be the problem, but so long as they weren't entirely out of the duo's league Cody was sure James would find a way.
But while he was glad he wasn't going on this mission alone, he wasn't too sure about there only being two of them. If anything went wrong....
"And if there are S-Class there? I mean, we are going to make sure their plans fail...so if there are some there, we'll probably have to deal with them...won't we?"

Jasmine Lockwood

@Caits
Jasmine listened as Penny tried to cheer her up, but it wasn't really working. Jasmine was certain that anyone could do these jobs that needed to be done that Penny was talking about, whether it be running the bar, cleaning, etc. All probably better at it than Jasmine herself. At Penny's suggestion of fire magic, she seemed rather uncertain, incredibly nervous even.
All she could think of when Penny said 'fire' was the scene they had happened upon when searching for her parents. The image was still very fresh in the young girl minds and it drained the colour from her face. That's right...a mage had killed her parents, how ironic it was then that a mage had saved her as well....

"I'm...not sure that's a good idea." Jasmine mumbled softly. I mean, what if she couldn't learn it? She didn't want to let Penny down. Or worse still, what if she could learn it but not control it?
"B-but I'll give it a try!" She quickly added, realising what she said might've sounded rude. Penny was willing to teach her magic after all, even after everything Penny had already done for her. She didn't want to offend the older girl.
Besides, if she could use magic then she could be of use...it didn't matter to her what the magic was, so long as she could us it.

Angel Ferrara

While Cyare was keeping their shopkeeper buddy appeased with conversation and moving things towards their job here, Angel was spinning around in a circle to take in the market, rapidly blinking away the snowflakes that fell in crescents into his eyes and upon his cheeks. He should have brought some cocoa or something for the two of them to keep heated. The forests of Veronica were always relatively temperate, as were the parts of Fiore he stuck to; winter was something he rarely had to contend with as a mage.

On the bright side, his discomfort was totally giving him gift ideas.

Keeping his ears open to the conversation and one eye out on the various stalls of the market, Angel paid attention, looking out for anything that he could plop on Cyare to keep her warm. She was from the mountains to the north of the Kingdom, and had spent a lot longer being cold than he hopefully ever would, but if anything that was just a reason for her not to be cold now! After all, she loved hot springs. He knew she enjoyed the heat more than being cold.

Fur-lined jackets...

Scarves...

A snug pair of boots...

This place was just super stacked with clothing, above almost all other things. He would have to find a way to slip away from his friend and grab her something. It'd have to be a surprise gift, or else she'd never accept it, but she'd be super comfy and happy once she did!

But marauders.

Right.

Marauders were the enemies of all things in town that were comfy and warm.

Still keeping an eye out!

"Yeah, we are," he agreed, unnecessarily but cheerfully. "So, fellow traveler! You're not from Fiore either, then, yeah? Did you come across the border from Bosco? You didn't have any trouble with the marauders getting here, did you?"

Penny realised that she may have offered the wrong thing, and grimaced, wanting to apoligise but not knowing how to. She hesitated, before saying "Well, I'm happy to help you. Perhaps we can start looking at it tomorrow. If you aren't suited for fire magic, we'll find someone else in the guild to try and help you, but you shouldn't be ashamed of not having any magic. You can become a valued member of the guild, and just cause most of the jobs are aimed at magic users, does not mean that you can't take any that you can do" she said, wanting to reassure Jasmine, "It might even be a good thing. The segregation between mages and non-mages is never going to get better, unless we do something. But I'm more than sure you will be able to use magic" she said with a smile. "Let us get something to eat, shall we?"

Phoenix and a Magus

@Caits@Crimson Raven

A few days after the the Grand Magic Games, the doors to the Phoenix Wing guild hall opened to reveal a pair of strange figures. The taller one was dark of hair with orange-yellow eyes, wearing a white coat with numerous pocket and an asymmetrical pattern on the sleeves. He kept his right hand casually tucked into a pocket on his grey pants. The shorter was, if possible, even stranger. They were young and of indeterminable gender with red-tipped blue hair. It was hard to tell if it was dyed like that or natural. Oddly, their eyes would occasionally change color, from red to blue and back again. They wore a large, brown, hooded cloak that was much too big and obscured the rest of them.

The taller one peered inside

”See? This is the place. I told you so.” He joked to his companion.

The shorter one’s red eyes flashed. ”Of course it is! There is a great big fricken’ sign outside!” She shouted at him. Her tone was full of hot and fiery passion. But then their eyes changed to blue and a very different voice came from the same mouth. ”Sis, he’s being sarcastic.” A cool voice said with a roll of their blue eyes.

”Oh so you’ll take his side.” Claire shouted at Colt.

”Do not start you two.” Ferrin broke in, exasperated. ”Or rather, do not pick up where you left off.”

Ahead of his companion, Ferrin stepped inside. As he crossed the threshold, he was struck by a strange feeling that was somewhere between deja vu and vertigo that brought him up short.

It was strange. It reminded him so much of home. Oh the faces were different, the building was different, the voices he didn't recognize, the aether here was unfamiliar but yet…

The feel was definitely the same. This guild carried the same spirit.

Ferrin closed his eyes and composed himself. Breaking into tears would not be a good first impression. He was here on business. That was all.

”Hey, you gonna move your ass or stand there all day?” That irritating voice broke through Ferrin’s revere. He turned his head and eyed her with his best my-patience-is running-thin look.

She shrugged, the easy motion carried all the disdain she could possibly give.

Ferrin gave up and decided to look for someone in charge. As he did, he mentally reviewed what information he had found about Phoenix Wing. The guild master’s name was Jamie Beltras, but he had no idea what he or she looked like. The name sounded feminine to him, so if he had to guess he was looking for a woman. The guild itself was widely considered one of the largest and most powerful, and its ranks were swelling daily. They had apparently had a major clash with the magic council, according to that Lizard-man, and they had played no small role in some very strange events. For some reason, specific details were hard to come by. Besides that, something that concerned Ferrin personally was the man who called himself “Time Lord” or Patrick who was affiliated with the guild. Ferrin resolved to corner him next time he saw the man and get some answers out of him.

Other members he knew of from listening to people and asking questions. Some of them had built quite a reputation. There was a guy who was considered the second in command of the guild, but Ferrin couldn't remember his name. J...something. It was similar to Jamie. He met the dragon-girl Mith...something during the chaos that was the Grand Magic Games. He was slightly hoping he could catch up with her, if only to make sure she was all right. He also vaguely remembered a few other notable members he heard of during the Games. There was a Phoenix Slayer, some guy who was scared to death of women, a mage with magic Blades, an energy mage, an Ice Dragon Slayer, several generic swordsmen, and more that escaped him at the moment.

Ferrin surveyed the room, unsure of himself, so he just stood there, head up, smile on, looking important. Like he had a reason to be there. By now, he was starting to draw some attention from the members, faces turned to the tall stranger in white, some welcoming, some suspicious, some indifferent, some interested.

He met their gazes with a sardonic, knowing smile. Sooner or later someone would come up to him and ask who he was and what he was doing here.

Jarvis was busy making sure most of the members weren’t getting too rowdy, always a difficult task, but one he happily undertook. It was also a task making sure that Sam didn’t get into trouble, the girl always seemed to find it, even when they were sitting down to a meal. In many ways, she was the same girl that they had lost, but in many more, she was completely different. He had come to be thankful that they had her back. So she seemed a little strange at times. They all did. She still had that smile, and cheeky attitude that made him smile.

He glanced around the guild, but all seemed as it normally was, and he turned his attention as the guild hall doors opened, frowning slightly. Approaching Ferrin, Jarvis knew he didn’t have to do much to appear intimidating. His very appearance was intimidating, but he kept his voice light as he asked ”Did you need something?”

Ferrin remained irritatingly un-intimidated. ”Yes, I did.” He said, with his most cheerful grin. ”I needed a pebble of no particular color, a pair of backward gloves, and three left socks however for now, I will settle for a meeting with your guild master.”

”The road outside is cobblestone, go find a pebble, you can put your gloves on the wrong hand, and there’s always socks laying about everywhere, have fun trying to find them. As for a meeting with our master, which one? There’s two of them” Jarvis said, all in a rather serious tone, ”My wife is currently busy, so you can deal with me, if you’d like”

Two huh. His wife, so that means I’m dealing with...

Ferrin snorted quietly in laugher, shaking his head. He quashed the reply that came to mind and let the joke drop for now. Ordinarily he would stretch it out until it was long past funny, but he was here for a reason.

Under his foolish, grinning mask, he considered possibilities and how best to approach this and whether or not he would tell this man. He had originally planned on only telling Jamie, but if they were both guild master…

But why bother? He thought. I have no particular reason to keep it a secret.

But a part of him resisted.

”Take me to her anyway, and let her decide. Any explanation can wait till then, as I’ll only explain it once. However, what I have to say might interest her, and you, a great deal.” Ferrin told him, cryptically. ”But first!” He exclaimed abruptly. ”The more immediate nature of this little visit.” He turned and waved over the Twin who had been hesitating in the doorway. They shuffled over warily.

Ferrin hid a smile, remembering how he was his first time. ”These two, and yes, I said two, ask them about it, it's not my story to tell, and I are looking your little guild here.” One of the Twin, Colt probably, mumbled an affirmative.

Jarvis sighed, and shook his head, “I would rather not disturb her, so if you wouldn’t mind, I am just as capable as my wife.” He said, weary, watching as the man retrieved his companion, revealing them to be twins. “I think I can grasp what you mean, when you say they are twins. I’m well aware how someone can be more than one person. Like I said earlier, I am more than happy to bring you into the guild. I just need to know where you’d like the marks and what colours”

Ferrin frowned. He won't budge. Damn. He thought. But, I can understand not wanting to anger the wife. Happy wife, happy life. The thought made him sad but he shook it off. I’ll see her again. I know it.

To cover the slight pause, Ferrin burst out laughing. ”That is it? That is all? You will give membership to anyone who just waltzes through the door, no test, no letters of recommendation or anything? Stars and stones, that is rather trusting of you. I could be a psychopath, or not even a wizard and you will just accept me on my word?” A fresh round of laughter bubbled up.

Jarvis chuckled, and shook his head “You aren't a psychopath. I've seen psychopaths before, known one or two. You aren't one, and in any case, I know my members. If you did anything that was wrong, you'd find yourself surrounded by, oh, twenty or thirty of them ready to kick your asses,” Jarvis said, rather proudly, “as for maybe not being a wizard, does that really matter? There's been enough segregation between mages and non mages, why can we not mix?” He shrugged, “So, where did you want the mark and what colour?”

Ferrin considered this. ”Fair enough.” He agreed, his respect for Jarvis increasing. ”But no, I’m not a psychopath, I’m a high-functioning sociopath.” He quipped with a grin.

Colt, previously quiet, snorted at this.

Ferrin eyed them. ”I take special cases too. Some more special than others.” He said, loftily, before turning his attention back to Jarvis. ”Now then where to put it…”

After a moment’s hesitation that was more for show than anything else, he pulled his mechanical right hand out of the pocket it had been resting in, and carefully tugged off the glove in his left hand. There was an ugly hook-shaped scar that ran along the back of his hand disappearing up his sleeve, and a gold band wrapped around his ring finger.

He peered at the scar in mild surprise. ”I don't remember that one.” He muttered. ”No, that will not do.” He held the glove between his teeth as he twisted one arm out of his parka, revealing his shoulder, bicep and forearm. ”I will run out of skin space at this rate.”

Another wisecrack.

The Twin peered at him curiously.

”Here, in silver.” Ferrin indicated, holding his forearm perpendicular to the ground, pointing at a clear spot about halfway between his elbow and wrist, tapping with one long, metal finger.

I hope I am wrong about this. Ferrin thought. It would complicate matters to an inconvenient degree.

Jarvis waited patiently, watching Ferrin and nodding as he indicted where he wanted it, grabbing the marker and pressing it to his skin, in the place he was told, ”There” He said, stepping back.

The silver Wing, imprinted on his arm, seemed to glow for a moment, before fading. Ferrin watched it, cautiously.

Nothing happened.

He relaxed. Maybe he had just been overthinking things.

Suddenly, he was hit by a wave a nausea and felt a brief burning sensation on his neck. He winced and put his hand to it. Right before their eyes, the mark on his arm shimmered like a mirage and vanished, leaving nothing behind.

There was a moment of silence between the four.

”Dammit,” Ferrin sighed to no one in particular. ”Now I actually have to explain.”

”Yes. Yes you do” Jarvis said, crossing his arms and staring at Ferrin.

Ferrin was silent for a moment as he slipped his arm back into his coat and tugged on his glove.”Not here.” Ferrin said, eventually, casting a glance at the loud crowd of guild members. ”Lead me somewhere private. We can speak then.”

Jarvis sighed softly, and turned to walk towards Jamie’s office, briefly knocking on the door but knowing even that wouldn't disturb Jamie if she was fully absorbed in something, opening the door and walking over to her, laying a hand on her shoulder, ”A potential member who doesn't seem to take to the guild mark”

Ferrin made a face at the man’s retreating back. ”Not the most talkative fellow, are ya?” He muttered as he moved forward to follow him.

The Twin glaced at Ferrin, hesitantly, unsure of they should follow him. Ferrin gave them a full shrug and inflicted his head after Jarvis. Nodding, they followed after Ferrin, who followed Jarvis, to an office, he assumed belonged to Guild Master Jamie herself.

Ferrin knew precious little about the guild master. In fact, his little conversation with Jarvis nearly doubled what he knew. Thanks to him, he found out that Jamie was a female, and Jarvis’ wife. Before, all he knew that she was a stern master, and she had a love for bathing suits. Nobody on the street could tell him much more, which was profoundly irritating. The rest was just unfounded rumours that she was a dragon, or a demon, or a wise sage of unimaginable power; peasants loved that sort of thing.

They slipped inside the room and Ferrin very pointedly shut the door, he would have added a spell to muffle noise but he wasn't sure how his hosts would react. The twin quiety stood in the back of the room, while Ferrin boldly squared himself up before the guild masters. He was silent for a long moment as he examined them both, and considered how best to say what he had to say.

Jamie was a fairly attractive woman, she had long, blond, curly hair, over piercing green eyes, with sun-kissed dark skin giving a contrast to her light hair. Ferrin also noted the guildmark on her hand in red. He couldn't be sure, as she was sitting down, but he estimated her to be nearly as tall as he was.

He let the silence grow.

Needing no promoting, he spoke. Carefully and slowly, with somber tones completely unlike his jocular manner before.

”Introductions first then. I know who you two are; guildmasters Jarvis and Jamie of Phoenix Wing. The one, or two, in the back are Colt and his sister Claire. Their story is a complicated one, but not the one to tell now. For now, it's my story.”

He gave them a sly grin, and spread his hands, one flesh, the other metal.

”Who then, am I? Where did I come from? Where will I go? I’m a wizard, first and foremost. A seeker of knowledge and practitioner of magic. I wish to join your guild here for reasons that are my own, but if you must know, I seek a man who calls himself Time Lord. I believe you know him.” Ferrin paused. ”But that is not the purpose for this meeting is it? No, you are probably wondering why the Guild Mark didn't take when you applied it.

The truth is, I already have one.”

Ferrin slowly pulled his spell-lined parka off fully, revealing his sleeveless vest he wore beneath it. As he did, he turned around, watching them out of the corner of his orange eyes.

There, on his right shoulder, between his metal arm and his clothes was a legendary silver mark.

The mark of Fairy Tail.

”I am Magus Ferrinas Astra, of Fairy Tail.”

In the back of Ferrin’s mind, that Voice spoke. Now you claim birthright? Tace larua! Ferrin harshly admonished it.

”Interesting. Tell me, how did you manage to get a guild mark of a guild that has been dead for 100 years?” Jamie asked, leaning forward slightly, ”We have searched high and low for any sign the guild survived what happened” she said, watching Ferrin closerly, ”We of course know of some members in various guilds, including our own, whose blood line can be traced back to Fairy Tail Members, but none who claim to be members. So tell me, are you 100 plus years old, or is there another story here?” she asked, leaning back in her chair.

She paused a moment.

”As for the man you call Time Lord, well, yes, we do have a passing acquaintance, given the relationship one of my members has with him. In fact, I do believe he is nearby. Are you looking to travel through time, Mr. Astra?”

Ferrin smirked, flipping his coat back on with easy grace. He shot Jarvis a brief, smug, I-told-you-so look, before returning his gaze to Jamie. ”That would be quite telling Mrs. Beltras.” He said, drawing out the s sounds in Missus. No trace of his earlier serious manner could be found. ”By and by, just ‘Ferrin’ is fine. ‘Mister’ is far to formal for my tastes, and ‘Magus’... He made a face. ”...it's less a name then a title. But I digress. I will not tell why I seek this man, but I will divulge how I came to this ‘now’, as it is quite the interesting tale...” He reached into a pocket and drew out a very curious object, out of a pocket that seemed a little small to hold an object that size without a bulge. It was quite large, about the size of a grown man’s fist and it resembled a lacrima, but it was more like a raw gem then the polished and cut product that are seen day to day. It gave off a faintly glowing mist and to those with magic sense, it radiated faint magic. An undiscerning eye would dismiss it as nothing more than a trifle. Ferrin set it on Jamie’s desk for her to examine.

”This bauble is the cause of my current time. From what I can tell, I am from far further back than a mere century. No, try two centuries. Back then, the name Fairy Tail was just one of many. No fame no honor no legend, just one more new guild rising. I joined a little after it had begun to gather fame. I knew guild master Mavis Vermillion personally, and I took part in the Second Trade War. About six years afterward is where this lacrima comes in. It was a routine job. A little suspicious, now that I think back on it, but it was very good money at a time when I was desperately in need of some. It involved investigating some ruins, and retrieving an object that legend said was inside. The petitioner what the dodgy sort, I am sure you have met the kind. Beyond that, it seemed was nothing amiss. The ruins did turn out to be a tomb, and while grave robbing is not exactly my idea of a good time, I had taken the job and was determined to see it through. To be brief, it was quite the ordeal. Traps, mazes, undead, insects and lots of darkness, all guarding treasures of every description. But in a secret inner room, behind a rather clever hidden door, and guarded by more powerful undead was a door, bearing a striking inscription:

’You who have braved the depths of darkness to read these words

Be you a thief, I invite you look elsewhere. Greed will not be sated here.

Be you an adventurer, I beg you to not go forth. Curiosity will not be sated here.

Be you a scholar, enter not. Knowledge will not be sated here.

Yet you who still are drawn to the Door of Time, heed my words. Bold soul, should you value anything in this life, turn back. For what lies beyond is is naught but pain and grief.

What is lain here is not meant to be held by mankind. As I am laid to rest, I pray it too rests here undisturbed, until the end of time.

Faram

Ferrin paused for a moment. ”What a dire warning. What do you suppose I did after I read it?” He laughed. ”I broke the magic seal on the door and entered. Inside I found an extremely powerful guardian that I can not begin to describe to you. It was big. It was ugly. And it was strong. But with some luck and no little skill, I felled the thing. And all it was guarding was a pedestal. And on the pedestal was that.” Ferrin gestured to the lacrima. ”By its description, I knew this was what I had been sent for.” He sighed. ”Perhaps if I had been a little more careful… after all I had been through, I was exhausted and had grown overconfident. I walked right up and laid my hand upon the thing.

Next thing I knew, I woke up on a grassy knoll somewhere, lacrima in hand and no idea who I was.

I got better.

I assume there was one final trap upon the lacrima that froze any would be thief in time. I suspect it was meant to be permanent. But I broke free.”
Sort of. Ferrin thought. ”Let them wonder what I am capable of.

”That is how I came to be here, in this time. Quite fascinating, really, this time. Surprisingly little has changed. My current concerns are rather simple; I need income and a place to stay as I plan my next move. In short, I need a wizard’s guild, as magic is…” He trailed off, looking distant. He snapped back. ”...my best currently available marketable skill.” He finished.

As Jamie listened to Ferrin’s tale, Jarvis leaned over and scooped the lacrima into his hand, examining it, using his own magic to do so, but whether time had taken what information he could gather from it, or it was simply beyond his strength, Jarvis couldn’t tell. All that was clear was that it wasn’t something he could replicate- whether it was simply because he didn’t possess the right magic, or something else, he knew that this was perhaps one of a kind.

Frowning, he rolled it in his hands a moment, before returning it to the desk, as silence fell.

Jamie took a moment or two to think over what Ferrin had said before she said ”So you seek a way back to your time? I’m sorry to say, but I do not think that is possible. The sheer force of magic and skill that would be required would be something that, I doubt, is possible anymore” she picked up the lacrima, but really couldn’t get anything from it, and put it down after a few seconds.

”As for joining the guild, well, sad to say you might have to go the more… painful option of having a guild mark” she said, ”The more mundane way”

Ferrin’s expression turned stony. ”Let us say I will be keeping my options open.” Then he smiled briefly. ”After all, I am familiar with doing the impossible.

The guild mark. Are you talking about branding?”
He asked carefully.

Jamie chuckled, and shook her head, ”No, we are not barbarians. Non-mages have their own forms of marking themselves, called Tattooing”

Ferrin relaxed a bit. ”Ah, I have heard of Tattooing, but the specifics are outside my area of expertise.” He nodded once. ”I can take pain. Let's go.”

Jamie smiled, satisfied. Taking out a piece of paper with the guild mark on it, and handing it to Ferrin, before rising. ”Very well, this way then” she said, leading Ferrin out the guild, and smiling back at Jarvis, knowing he could handle the guild, and starting off to a tattoo parlor.

As they left, the Twin, who had been unusually quiet all this time, nervously approached Jarvis and got a guild mark of their own, half red, half blue.

An hour later, Jamie and Ferrin returned to the guild, Ferrin with the guild mark finally tattooed on his arm in silver ink, of course. It wasn't even all that painful, although the artist assured Ferrin that it was because of the placement of the tattoo.

Ferrin, right away strode to the job board, ripped the highest paying job off, and brought it to Jamie to be approved.

”You don’t waste time, do you?” Jamie said amused.

Ferrin shrugged.

”Very well then. Here, a communication Lacrima, and a teleportation lacrima, should you get in trouble” she said, handing both the small lacrimas to Ferrin, ”Good luck

”Save the luck for those who will need it.” Ferrin said with a devil-may-care grin.

It struck Ferrin, as he was headed out, how fast everything had moved. Less than a month earlier, it had been two hundred years ago. ”And how often can you say that with a straight face?” He said aloud to no one in particular. Some of the people passing by on the street gave him funny looks.

I will find a way. He resolved. This world is vast and mysterious. Somehow, some way. I will see you again, dear Asheila.

Ikki Yamanaka sat under a dead tree and put his satchel and guitar at his side. From his satchel, he brought out bread he has bought from the village he just passed from. After helping the baker's daughter fully heal from a dangerous fever, the parents of the girl showed so much happiness for what Ikki has done and gave him their finest breads as a sign of gratitude. Seeing the parents hug their now healthy daughter made him miss his family back home. He was grateful that the disease of the young girl wasn't near death yet, for he doesn't know how to help her parents if he was too late. If there's anything that his magic cannot heal, it is the pain of the heart. His neighbors back at home used to come to him for such problems, asking him to take away the pain they have felt from the departing of their loved ones whether by physically leaving or by death's hand. He hates disappointing anyone who is relying on him for so much.

One time, he ran crying to his parents, asking them on why he feels useless that can't he heal his friend's pain from the death of her father. His parents would look at him with melancholic smiles, while his father would say, "Our magic can only do so much, my son. We can heal their souls and bodies, but we cannot take heal their heart."

"W-w-why i-is that?", Ikki would say while crying.

His mother cupped her hands on her little son and said, "Because, little cherry blossom, we cannot influence the heart to forget, to heal, and to move on in an instant. Our hearts are the only piece of ourselves that are as limitless as the universe itself. The only one who can heal a broken heart is the person itself. I am very sorry we cannot explain it any further than we can, but what we can promise you, my son, is that all of this you can understand when the right time has come."

His parents would hug him afterwards. Indeed, he didn't understand a thing they've said, but they have kept their promise. He finally understood why he cannot heal a broken heart, but it didn't stop him from giving all of power in helping others.

He leaned back at the tree and looked up. Clouds have filled the morning sky and the sun peeks through whenever there's a hole through the clouds. He closed his eyes and meditated, reminiscing every moment he has made since leaving home. Months of travelling can make an adventurer such as himself become really tired. He began to smile at himself. He's officially become an adventurer! He used to hear about such people only from her parent's storytelling back when he was young. Travelling across the great desert, climbing the tallest mountains, exploring the deepest caves, battling ferocious monsters: that's the life for him. What he loves most about being an adventurer, however, is the people you meet along the way. He's always so fascinated to meet people of different culture and ethnicity, for he believes it will help him become a better person and have a more grand perspective of the world around him. Even if he has met various obstacles and troubles along the way, he has overcome them all with patience and virtue, two of the precious family values of the Yamanaka Clan.

He breathed in the fresh air. Finally, he got his ukulele and tuned it. He acquired the instrument when he spent his days with a travelling band. They were always so merry, laughing and sharing jokes around a campfire while eating. When they performed in a city, Ikki would always look at them and be amazed by how they can put smiles on the faces on everyone that would watch them. Even they themselves would laugh while they are performing, showing the townspeople that if there's always a chance for you to be happy, take that chance.

When he left the merry group, the leader decided to give him his ukulele as a token of gratitude and respect, and also to not let Ikki forget about them. In return, Ikki gave them one of the chimes that adorned his clothes as a reminder that he will be eternally grateful for the time they've spent together. A few tears were shed, but in the end they all bid farewell to each other with smiles on their faces, knowing that they would meet again one day.

Satisfied that his ukulele is on tune, he began to play it. Days of practicing playing this instrument really paid off, and Ikki is proud to call himself a professional ukulele player, if that's what you call it. Going along with the music, he began to sing:

"The sun is shining, full of light,
It makes our smiles shine as bright.
See all the vibrant flowers bloom,
It will wipe away all your gloom.

There's more to life than what meets the eye,
Our dreams of tomorrow exceeds the sky.
Let all our hearts be filled with love,
Love that reaches the stars above."

His parents would often praise him of having a beautiful voice, describing it as if life could sing, that would be it. He would always sing in the festivals of his hometown and the townspeople would marvel at his beautiful singing. This time though, he channeled his magic through his singing, and at the end of his song, he chanted. "Let my gratitude reach you dear tree. Live and prosper for a hundred years more. Arc of Life: Rejuvenation!"

Gold-colored energy swirled around the dead tree along with sakura petals. Its dark coloration began to turn into a healthy brown and leaves started to grow once more from its branches. Finally, the golden energy dispersed and the sakura petals settled on the ground around it, showing the majesty of the once dead tree. It grew bigger and taller than before, and anyone near it can feel the life emanating from the plant.

Satisfied with his work, he began to pack his things to leave when he heard a loud snap from a distance. Birds flew in panic from the source of the sound and Ikki quickly rushed to the place. When he got there, he saw a peculiar looking rabbit, its leg caught in a trap. Ikki could clearly see the creature writhing in pain. Acting quickly, he looked around the area for hunters and approached the creature with his knife in hand. He dismantled the trap as fast as he could without causing the creature more pain. When the rabbit was released, it's still in shock from the pain on his leg. Ikki put down his hand on the bunny's torso while his other hand hovering atop the wound on it's leg. He said, "Don't be afraid, little one, let me help you. Arc of Life: Healing Palm."

Energy in the form of a sakura flower bloomed on the wound while golden energy surrounded the whole leg of the rabbit. When it is done, the sakura and the golden energy dispersed, leaving behind the rabbit's leg fully healed like nothing has happened. Delighted, the rabbit jumped and, much to his surprise, flew around Ikki. He hasn't noticed before, but the rabbit is no ordinary rabbit for it has wings!

The flying rabbit nuzzled against Ikki and he laughed while stroking its fur. "You are welcome my friend. You are quite a fascinating creature yourself."

He heard shouting from a distance. No doubt those were the hunters who set the trap for the rabbit which caused it to be wounded. Alarmed, he turned to the creature. "Quickly my friend, fly away! It's too dangerous here!"

The flying rabbit didn't flew away. Instead, it settled on the ground and moved closer to Ikki. "Do you want to come with me?" The rabbit nuzzled him in response. "Alright, let's make a break for it. Go!"

Ikki ran away on the opposite direction of the incoming hunters while the rabbit flew at his side, his long pink hair trailing behind him. One thing about Ikki is his also a fast runner. Covering a few distances away from his foes is easy as pie for him. Fortunately, the rabbit seemed to quite fast in flying as well. As they fled, a nearby city began to appear in the distance. "Come on, my friend! To the city!"

Hunter Jorgenson|Strike while it's Hot

Hunter's skin hardened around where the dagger would be and before the Mirror Maiden could move, his hand had wrapped around her wrist and he pulled her all the way through and spun before flinging her towards her sister. "Again, what happens if you're in a position where you have no magic? Where Aria can't flee from her opponent to the mirror realm to rest if she gets tired? That's what I was trying to teach. Like I said, come find me when you can fight without your magic as well as with."

James Hunt|A Student's Tribulation

"Indeed we will have to. We're all strong mages, Cody, but sometimes we tend to fall back on our S-Class mages when things get tough and we can't do that here. We're going to win, I'm sure of it." James summoned his tome and read for a few minutes before speaking. "Have you tried turning your shield magic into something that rests on your arm like my own shield yet?"

Ammy Silver|A Day Behind the Counter

Ammy, who had been working on making some more burgers for the day, glanced over at Zev as he mumbled to himself and frowned. "You know, you've not yet told me why you don't just ask a healer to fix the bump."

A Few Hours Later

Sasha returned back downstairs, after having gone back upstairs. She’d spent a few hours cleaning up, she dressed in clothes she hadn’t taken traveling with her, but were still very much travel clothes. Pants, and a loose shirt, throwing a jacket over it all, but she wasn’t fussed with how she looked. She tied her long black hair into an intricate braid that wouldn’t fall out, and then sat to gather up her notes, and thoughts. The last two months had been tiring, to say the least, especially with the changes her body was going through… but it had been for the good of the world, and Sasha knew that if she was given the choice, she would do it all over again. There were too many things at stake, and she’d managed to connect several incidents with what was happening…

The rise in dark mages… in dark guilds… She knew it wasn’t a coincidence they were forming, becoming more than a nuisance, even if they had no connection with the island, and the dragons… the slayers… For so long now, the understand of slayers was that if they used their magic too much, if they went so far… they’d become what slayer magic they used… it was, it seemed, certainly true for the Dragon Slayers of old… but Sasha was no longer sure if that was the case. Those that had gone to Tenure Island, had fought, and ultimately caused the near 100 year ban on magic… something had happened to them, she knew, but she didn’t think it was what everyone had assumed…

There was still so much she didn’t know, and not enough time to learn it all. No time at all, in fact. She lay her hand on her journal, a few months ago it had been brand new, now… it was well used, well worn, and full to the brim of everything she had found, discovered, her own thoughts and processes. And her sketches, drawings. So much… and she had to somehow cover it all, convince the Guild Masters of the importance of this… She’d go on her own if she had to, but she knew that her guild at least would be behind her.

And that had always been enough, before.

Now… she wasn’t so sure.

As the silhouette of a now familiar form approached her, Sasha turned to Patrick. She gave him a nod, looking over the guild hall for a few moments, before she spoke. ”I’m not sure I have everything I need, to do this” her voice was soft, not particularly wanting anyone to see her yet.

Patrick, formerly known to her as Timelord, looked out over the guild hall as well. She wasn’t actually too sure how he had gotten into the guild, but it didn’t seem to matter right then. ”Sasha, in my time, you went alone. You never came back. Things have already changed… you are no longer alone, now are you? What will happen will happen, Sasha. That’s all we can really count on. “

Sasha couldn’t help but feel like those words were… utter crap. She sighed softly, her hand curling around the carved fish that Mayt had given her what seemed like so long ago… That had been an interesting day, and one she knew she wouldn’t forget. She felt like that had been the first day anyone in the guild had believed in her. And on the off chance she wasn’t going to return from this… she wanted it with her. She looked at her hand, where her guild mark use to be.

So much had changed… She thought about what her counterpart was doing, in Edolas. Without realising it, she lay a hand over her heart, where her guild mark now was… would things be the same, if they hadn’t done all they had, seen all they had? Edolas had been… enlightening to say the least. Shifting, Sasha lay a hand on her stomach. So much… She’d do anything to give her child a good life. So they wouldn’t fail.

She looked to Patrick, and gave a small nod. ”Lets get this started”.

As everyone that was there gathered, Sasha became more self conscious… she had always been terribly shy, something she had been working on, and she was more confident then she had been, but… Maybe she was being foolish…

She shook her head, and clutching her notebook, moved in front of the bar. She had called for this meeting… but now she wanted to be anywhere else. She gave a soft laugh, and shifted.

“My guild will know at least that I've been gone for two months, since the games. And the Guild Leaders should know that as well. We all know something happened 100 years ago, with the guilds of that time- Fairy Tail, Sabertooth, Blue Pegasus, Larima Scale just to suggest a few, and the dragon slayers of that time. Natsu Dragneel, Gajeel Redfox, Wendy Marvell, Laxus Dreyar, Erik, Rogue Cheney, and Sting Eucliffe. Names forgotten in time, names buried in the capital library, names never spoken off, but whispered, and names that everyone knows nonetheless. And in this time, we have our own dragon slayers. Our own slayers, for different species. Phoenix slayers. God Slayers. Devil Slayers. My own Sister, Penny, is a Phoenix Slayer, a fire Phoenix Slayer” She corrected, “Master Jack, Master Fraquar, they’re slayers in their own right… There’s Hunter, and Amaya, Dragon Slayers, Jade and Ice respectively. Nolan, our Ash God Slayer.

We are no stranger to Slayers. And we know, we have heard the rumours, of what happens to slayers…

Rumours that are based in fact…

I've been searching for two months, and recording anything I could find. You may have all noticed the increase in natural disasters, and through that, I have found the legendary island of Fairy Tail, Tenuro island. I have yet to go there, for that should be a collaborative effort… with the blood of those with Fairy Tail magic in them.”

She looked over at the familiar faces, over everyone, looking for those she knew were her family, taking in strength that she wasn’t alone anymore, that she hadn’t been alone for a long time. Her gaze finally landed on Patrick once more, words coming to her again. “I can’t make you believe what I’m saying… I can’t make you see… But I can ask you to trust me” She said, looking back over her guild, those from the other guilds.

“I can ask you to trust me, I can ask that, because… The guilds, all of them, have been through a lot. We all know there is a darkness out there. And this is the least evil of them. I… I’m asking you to trust me, so that we can be prepared for what will come, after…

I’m not good at public speaking. I’m not the best at convincing people. But someone once told me, that you have to try. Because, if you don’t try, you will never get anywhere. Her words were a little bit more… confident and boisterous than mine, but you understand the point, I hope”

She set her notes down, on the bar, laying her hand on her heart, “Please. No matter what, I’ll be leaving in the morning. You can look through my notes, my sketches. Both are detailed. They document everything I found, the increase in natural disasters, any shred of information I found on Fairy Tail and the other guilds… any information about what happened 100 years ago. I found it, I took notes, I drew. It’s all there” She pointed to the journal, “And its everyones, now”

She stepped away from the bar, Sasha’s small frame was nevertheless full of confidence that she never knew she had, that she didn’t seem to notice as she looked over the place that had become her home, over the people she had come to count on.

She’d see it again.

Shadow Heart Capture Mission Collab
@Lugubrious@Lunarlors34

Grane Falo | Adamond City, Outer Station
@Lmpkio
Once everyone was on board of the monorail, there wasn’t any warning as their car immediately picked up speed and made its way into the city. Arriving, the group was in a similar station as before, only this time the entering building was covered within a thin blue mist. The same mist was still outside once they exited the station. Now on streets, they could the ghost like residents of Adamond City doing their routinely business as they traverse through their city of stone and metal ornaments decorating everything in site.

Aldridge acted as their guide through the city as he geologist was filled with question. “The mist is the concentrated amounts of ethernano in the air.”

“The same mist is used to power most things in the city. That would include the power to the monorail.”

“Adamond has been here long enough that I stopped counting.”

“The mist provides the natives residents here with enough sustains to survive here for many generations.”

“Only native residents of the city live here, other living things that try living here will find it problematic when protecting themselves from the mist.”

The question answer session eventually came to an end as the group reached the center of the city, which stood a palace. Once they were inside, two golden and red striped pattern roped figures stood as they awaited Aldridge’s return and would take Dochas and the geologist away to help investigate the strange seismic activities that have been occurring in the sea.

Escorting the remaining two Council members, Aldridge brought them to a room with that appeared to be a conference room. In the center was a small circular table with chairs and a large monitor screen on the side of the wall. On the other side was a door that Aldridge led the two members into and revealed some machines with buttons, switches and screens. As he began typing on the screen and pressing a few buttons, he pointed the council members over to the seats “A long time ago, as part of our agreement to help transfer his human body into a ragdoll, he agreed to allow me to add a special tracker inside him that only I knew how to track. Please sit, it will take me a few minutes to find Dru in our database and track his last known location.”

After some time, the giant monitor on the screen turned on to reveal the map of Ishgar and a red marker blinking on the country of Joya. “It would appear Dru already arrived in the country of Joya as planned, but that still doesn’t explain why he hasn’t sent us any messages in the past few weeks.”

“If you intend to see Dru, I could make arrangements. Currently I have someone near the border that could act as a way point for the teleporter here in the city. “

“Yes, that would help us travel there than by regular means. The sooner that we get there, faster that this mystery can be solved.”

Leaving the conference room, the group soon found themselves in the barrack area where some armor ghost figures were training. Entering a building with large doors, inside was large spacious room with metal tiles on the ground and a single pedestal at the end of the room. Walking to the end and tapping the top of the pedestal’s surface for a few seconds, the ground began to tremble for some seconds until the metal floor in the center of the room began to slightly open to have a seven foot tall metal archway with some runes on its sides emerged out from it. Once the mechanisms below the ground stopped making and the archway stood in place, a translucent flow similar to the city bluish glow collected into the archway and formed their portal.

“As requested, your portal. I would like to join you and meet Dru for what has been decades since our last meeting. But I have other matters of importance to attend to from here. As a final note, that portal is one way. I rather not expend too much ethernano for a distance as far as Joya. Good luck on your mission.”

With that said, Grane and Saya stepped into the portal. As they traveled through, the short seconds felt as if their spirit is being pulled away from their while also experiencing an odd feeling of being in both a warm and cool area. They soon felt their body snap back to together and normal as they took their first step out from the exit of the portal. The air here felt a bit different, but that could probably be easily explained because from their current elevation they could see the clouds appear to be closer where they currently stood. Where they stood was the mountain range that surrounded the country of Joya. The portal behind them began to deconstruct and transform. As its transformation finished, what now stood was a tall fully armored and hooded person with blue mist emanating from their metal mask. Seeing as the two arrived safely, the armored person nodded and walked away.

...

With the group back at two again, Grane and Saya spent some hours traversing the mountain range. Using his teleportation magic, Grane was able to reduce their travel time, but didn’t feel his teleportation range was close enough to the base that he remembered. They would eventually reach their destination of the base and Grane would sit down and take some breaths after teleporting so many times and from far distances. Directing his attention to the nearest rune knight, he asked ”I am Grane Falo and this is Sayatachhi Nijiko. Both of us are Council Members, and I would like to speak with whoever is in charge at this base.” With that said, the knight saluted and marched away.

Rik | Myrtle Town, Marketplace
@Krayzikk@Plank Sinatra

“That would be correct, Bosco was where I was born and raised. I planned on visiting my cousin here and luckily I arrived before those marauders did. If you two are here to help, why not go the northern outskirts of the town. After the last visit from those marauders, most seemed to have ran off in that general direction.”

Seeing as more people are arriving into the marketplace, Rik wasn’t in the mood to deal with the same routine that just happened. “Anyways, sorry that I can’t sell you two anything, but perhaps we could have an exchange words. Some would say a conversation. As I mentioned, I’ve been in town for a while so I already got used to seeing familiar faces. But after looking at you two for some time now, are you two seriously going to go after those marauders? I don’t want to sound rude, but you two seem a bit young and don’t seem to that have intimidating physical strength that some rune knights here.”

Once again Frenzy Plant's commander committed himself to silent absorption of what Jamie had to say. He retained a collected expression throughout, with the singular exception of narrowed brows when hid fellow guild master misnamed the legendary scourge 'Acnologia' as 'Archnolia'.

With the briefing concluded, Sanders grunted before replying, ”Well, if it's true that there's a single magical island whose power prevents natural disasters, consider my concept of nature shattered and my state of mind more anxious. Otherwise, that will suffice.” Of course, nothing she'd really said indicated exactly what he was supposed to do to help, but after a few moments' musing he came to an educated guess. ”As to the reason why this place of power is weakening when magic is the strongest it's been in over a century, do you implicate the activity of dark guilds, or some sort of entity attacking the island in some way? If so, it stands to reason that an expedition would be in order.” He clasped his fingers, leaning forward. ”For such an endeavor, and to assure the realm of our cooperation in a matter of national security, Frenzy Plant would be willing to lend the aid of our airship, the Devil's Treasure.”

Indigo Afina – Frenzy Fort
@t2wave

The massive amount of time Indigo had, over the course of her life, spent with her nose in a book -coupled with her keen powers of observation- meant that little before her escaped her notice. As such, when Cyra turned to the side to mutter something unintelligible, even if for just a second, the library picked up on it and without hesitation began to ponder its meaning. The girl continued talking, and Indigo continued watching and listening, and while doing so it became apparent how strange Cyra's mannerisms were. Whether she achieved the intended effect or not, she was making a good attempt at acting mature, which elucidated how much she understood her current situation at the very least. One thing stood out: the name 'Shinzui'. With nobody else around as far as she could see, Indigo was left to look to the hand resting upon the katana sheathed at Cyra's waist, and it clicked in her mind that she was referring to her weapon. To be more precise, she referenced it not just in passing, but as though it were alive. Indigo's understanding of prominent Sevenese, though shaky, did indicate an affinity for treating weapons with ceremonial reverence, but given some of the girl's actions so far Indigo couldn't help but wonder if it meant something more.

Such matters could, however, be left for another time. ”Your commitment is impressive! Alright then, let's see about getting you enlisted. First, I'd like you to look over and fill out this sheet...” the sorceress slipped Cyra a piece of paper, previously within her desk, and a pencil. Once that had been taken care of, she pulled up a list and leafed through it, her index finger against the page. ”Hmm...okay! So, as you may or may not know, we here at Frenzy Plant test an applicant through a trial by combat. We begin by pitting you against a member of our lowest rank, then allowing you to test yourself against higher ranks one at a time. You keep the last rank you've earned once you're defeated. Right now, a certain fellow named Bartholemew is present who can perform your C-rank trial. Are you ready to begin?”

Owen Whately

@Joshua Tamashii

A shake of the head served as Owen's response to her initial question. ”Doesn't seem so.” The girl went ahead and gave her name, as well the fact that she was a 'spirit mage', which could mean any number of things. This wouldn't be a meaningful conversation, then, but he held no reservations about exchanging pleasantries when the situation called for it. ”Owen Whately, Corporal. Rapier Cast.”

His fellow soldiers, with varying degrees of interest in the chat between deadpan and amicable, took the opportunity to speak up for the first time. Two began to talk at the same time to start, and after a second to resolve who'd be going first, the introductions proceeded as normal.

”Ahoy there. I'm Jane, and I use Cartridge Magic. The bodacious buccaneer grinned.

“Hiya! My name's Blair, Blair Ravencroft, and I'm the best there is with Autumnal Spirit Magic!”

“You may call me Miss Gatlock. I do not deign to trifle in the arcane arts.”

Now, the attention of all four soldiers lay squarely on Amelia, respectfully expectant.

Rik | Myrtle Town, Marketplace
@Krayzikk@Plank Sinatra

Angel Ferrara - Myrtle Town

Angel turned to face the other traveler fully now, diverting his attention away from any of the cornucopia of gifts he could snag for Cyare and back towards Rik. The tracker looked at Cyare playfully, and then gave Rik the same breezy smile. His hands shoved in his pockets, thumbs poking out, the mage did seem relatively unassuming as he let out a bubbly giggle.

"We're no bodybuilders, yeah," Angel agreed. "But Cyare's as much a knight as anyone, rune or otherwise, and I guess I'm no slouch either."

He's only been looking at us for a minute...

Of course, at least he'd pegged Angel for a boy! That was something even Cyare hadn't quite worked out when they'd first met, so clearly the stranger had sharp eyes if nothing else. It really made ya think. Angel hummed slightly, shrugging his shoulders and tossing the snowflakes out of his blonde curls with a shake of his head.

"We're gonna help however we can in time for your return trip, don't you sweat it!"

The next day

Sasha

Sasha slept as long as she could, and before the sun had risen, Sasha was up. Her pack, which she hadn't bothered to unpack, was ready to go, and she slipped in her journal and sketch pad, before she made her way downstairs. It did not surprise her to see Patrick there, and she sat beside him, silent. They didn't have anything to say to each other, and Sasha was soon deep in thought, thinking about her response to General Sanders the day before.

“Sir, the island doesn't prevent natural disasters, so I assure you your state of mind should be intact. I never said these disasters were truly natural. Have you measured the instensity of magic in the air, after such events? They are higher then they have been, in years. It evaporates after a few days, only for another disaster to occur. I believe that the amount of magic tenure island experienced, 100 ago, has either broken its barriers, or… well, Time is a funny concept.”

That had been all she had said on the matter, although she had gladly accepted the use of Frenzy Plants Air Ship, more than grateful for it. She spent the next few hours trying to talk with the guild masters, to see who would be coming, and it had t been an easy task. Even after that, Sasha had bend up late, working on several things, she had spoken with Lazarus for a few hours as well, convincing him, for now, to stay behind. That she would be okay, and that she was coming home.

She didn't want to be worrying about him… if she was right... well. She wanted Lazarus as far from that island as possible. She had said her goodbyes to him last night, and perhaps that was why she hadn't slept long.

She would come back.

As it began to lighten, Sasha rose, moving towards the guilds doors, waiting for the rest of her guild to join her. She looked up at the sound of footsteps, a smile forming on her face. “Penny” she crossed the distance, and hugged her sister tightly, speaking softly to her, before she broke away. Standing with her sister, she let herself take comfort from her presence, not saying anything. They didn't need to say anything.

As Jamie and Jarvis came out, a pouting Sam following them as if she could sneak out with them, Sasha was beginning to feel a little nervous, and worried. She greeted her guild masters as warmly as she could, returning once more to the doors.
