Nought Contracted Bio-Warfare

Let the bugs at Koatav know that there's a bigger monster after them now. Deploying 1 tank on the "Bug Hunt" mission, and I want my medical team ready behind lines in case it gets hurt. Additionally, any civilians or Militia forces that are injured will recieve their help, but NCBW forces take priority.

Yeah yeah, I know.
Hmm, Commander Carver here, I got a little proposition for ya, but firstly don't think I've forgotten about your little comment from earlier.
Anyway my aerofighters are sitting around a little bored, how about you pick 'em up for me on your way through. I'm sure you could use some air support and some LMG presence at the battle. 10% is standard so I'll offer you 5%
Deal?

If that much is all it takes to get you crying, Carver, you don't want to know what else I could say. Still, I'll feel a lot more comfortable with air support, so that's a deal. Just make sure they do their damn jobs.

(And, unless your fighters are sitting next to a plank of wood, it's "bored", not "board".)

I don't know what's funnier. Carver's misspelling of the word bored or the fact that Helltop just got bypassed. Probably the former.

Actually now that I think about it, the fact that Hughs Industries put up a want add for Corporate Espionage on a public forum is way funnier. Akiov Inc might have seen that and beefed up their anti-spy defenses, making a successful infiltration impossible as a result.

Carver

"Ahh, pick on an old man and his tech troubles would ya. Manny, Just because you don't have the resources for the job, don't lose faith in the federation, the pirates never saw us coming.
Shouldn't you be tinkering away in your workshop anyway?

Miss Nought, well I was just gonna send them along as decoration but I guess they can do a bit more. Look miss, you let me worry about my fighters and you just worry about your makeup love. They'll do their job and do it damn well."

As a matter of fact, I am tinkering away in my workshop right now, Carver. This whole merc gig is just a side hustle to me, remember? Also, posting via video log was completely unnecessary.

Pirates Increase Attacks In Alpha Centauri

2995.10.19.

Alpha Centauri - Pirate activity in the Alpha Centauri System continues to plague economic interests in the star system. Alpha Centauri, a vital trade thoroughfare to Sol has been the target of pirates these past few months. Federation forces assisted Imperial Security last month and engaged the pirates in an ambush in orbit above Aldren, the first moon of Armstrong.

IMPSEC engaging pirate fighters above Aldren

Though the operation was a success, most of the pirate warships were able to escape the battle, and according to the Armstrong Colonial Government, continue to terrorize trade routes in the system. Imperial Security Forces captured over seventy pirates during the operation, and had hoped to gain valuable intel on the pirates base of operations.

IMPSEC has not released any information regarding the outcome of prisoner interrogations, but Director Baines did release a statement saying they were "closing in on pirate networks operating in the system." Baines went on to say that he would keep the Federation in mind regarding any further operations in quelling the pirates.

For now all the Federation can do is wait and see.

Isn't there a rule against cluttering the forum with encrypted gibberish? The PMs are there for a reason you know.

E.R.I.S. is capable of bitching at people? That's a shock.

Good morning, Commanders.

I believe I echo all your sentiments when I say that I want this bug hunt done by the numbers. The Bernard Colonial Government is basically a proxy for the Outer Rim Exploitative Corporation. These are some major players in the fringe systems, and if we do right by them, we can get some serious opportunities ahead of us. Koatev is a major refinery station for the ORE, and if we botch this, expect tylium prices to go through the roof.

I suggest Commander Davidson takes the lead, given Manny's Mechs are providing the muscle for this op, while Commander Nought provides support. I wouldn't rely on the local militia overly much as well. We're the professionals. Anyway, ERIS is standing by to provide logistical support and our contact with the Bernard Militia is patched into the battlenet. Relay your orders to your officers and get this job done.

Good luck, people.

Korvig out.

Look forward to working with you all again. My Mach II Viper will be offering air support and traveling in with Nought. (Thanks babe)
Just locate the target and call it in before close combat engagement. We will break the ranks and clear out any build ups as well as hunt down any fleeing stragglers from the sky.

After playing a support role in the 1st mission, leading the attack would be a nice change of pace. Once Carver's air support finds where the bugs have set up shop, my mechs will move in and cause a ruckus to draw out the bugs. I've swapped out the guns mounted on the mechs with scorchers which should allow them to turn the bugs' defense forces to ash easily enough. Meanwhile, those following the mechs can pick off any bugs that manage to get past the fire wall. And once we've dealt with the bugs on the surface, my mechs will gather around as many hive entrances as they can find and flood the hive with flames. That's my current plan anyway. Might need to change it if the hive is really strong.

Okay, priorities first:
Carver, if we'd been talking in public you'd be down a ball and my shoes would need cleaning. Don't call me "babe" ever again, or I'll personally find wherever it is you hide out and make that possibility a reality.

That out the way, it seems like a good plan, Manny. Not sure what a frigate's capabilities are regarding exoatmospheric strikes, but if worst comes to worst I'm sure we can find a way to blow the hive up before they spread.

@Luna-Shipwrights Would this be possible?

Look, y'all, I've seen the effects of orbital bombardment first hand during the war, and one thing it's not is accurate - no matter what the suits at Luna Shiprwrights tells ya. I'll need government approval before authorizing it. But I reckon we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Battlenet

2995.11.11.06:45 Federation Fleet arrives in the Bernard's Star System.

2995.11.11.07:52 LMG fighter begin recon of the area surrounding Koav's Landing.

*************
Incoming Transmission...

Viper

"LMG Viper to Federation forces, I have conducted an aerial sweep of the area and discovered a crashed civilian convoy in the foothills of the Broen Mountains. Convoy crawled with four bogeys, lit them up and they retreated into the mountains where I've lost sight. Not much more good I can do here and I'm at bingo fuel. Heading back to dock to fill up. Over."

((Hope @Dark Light doesn't mind that I've commandeered his pilot for this mission. The air recon seems to have narrowed the bugs down to the Broen Mountain region.))
