@mdk, when I saw those claims that somehow acts of nature are now "racist", I found myself hardly surprised. We have fallen to the point where people, publicly, are spewing such idiocy that a herd of willing heads nod in return. I remember when I first heard that "Milk was racist." and that somehow whites were drinking it to show their superior. I laughed then at such an absurd comment, but I do not laugh now. There's no apparent limit to the lows people will stoop to.

These are the same people no less who were criticizing some of the boats flying Confederate flags during the initial Harvey relief. Who cares who is providing the aid? They certainly are not being discriminatory about it.

Andreyich. I didn't mean that there should be laws against saying such thing. I meant that there are some positions which are so vile that it would be best if people didn't believe in them.

One useful technique for voicing opinions is to first check them for objective/subjective wording. You've written "there are some positions which are so vile" which is an opinion dressed up as fact. What you're actually saying is:

'there are some positions I find so vile that I think it would be best if people didn't believe in them'

I don't suppose I have to say much more than that for you to hear how that sounds.

edit---
Sorry about double posting the same thing, I couldn't see my post when I went to look for it (wouldn't the first time the internet lost my posts) so I rewrote the jist.

@Dynamo Frokane, the second time I had heard about James Allsup was when I saw a capture from a Reddit topic, most likely from /redacted/, where it made them out to be their typical mob. I am again, not speaking to the article. The article you presented is still news to me, as I had only seen focus on the flagpole incident and then the reference to how his opponents went looking through his personal information and what they said they found with that image. I do not make it a point to go searching for more information unless I need it. Hearing people shout in hysteria "racism" and "bigot", that crying wolf, has fallen on deaf ears at this point and I do not exactly trust the Left with any statement they put forward; consider me none too surprised I did not care one way or another what James Allsup is or isn't.

It should go without mention, but in this age being overt to the point you cannot be taken out of context has come to mean largely nothing and even something as simple as a thread is not to be trusted. I will continue to be so direct as say, "I do not affiliate with that person or their beliefs.", as with my other actions, so as to avoid issue. There is a purpose to these actions, namely that building a proof of character is one of the few ways to deflect the attacks.

Well thanks for clarifying you were referring to claims made in an unrelated subreddit, I was a little confused at first.

I think again its important to clarify that neither I nor anyone in this thread were claiming that you affiliate with james allsup, if you can find a quote of someone doing that, please let me know so I can tell them off for baseless slander, as I have done with Ace of Hearts and Smash before.

But to be absolutely clear, I don't think anything that the article or myself have said about James Allsup is

-Baseless

-Out Of Context

-Hysteria

-Crying Wolf

And I have no information on the flagpole incident, apart from the fact it was quite a long time ago (almost a year?) so It's safe to say in relation to this current information its fairly irrelevant, as it was different parties involved and different claims being made.

Also just as a not one the milk drinking thing, its one of symbols/memes of the alt right, along with Pepe and the 'OK' hand sign. These things in themselves aren't racist obviously but they have been adopted by a racist group. I've seen very few people using the milk drinking meme as a statement who don't also happen to be white nationalists.

This becomes circular (I take your meaning, you're not being circular here, but FWIW). "Pepe memes are racist!" Well how do you know that? "They're used by racists!" How are they racist? "They're using Pepe memes, which the ADL says are racist!"

Again I see what YOU mean, I understand YOUR point here, but just a heads-up on the preservation of one's own intellectual consistency, that's a dangerous rabbit hole of nonsense around which to lurk. Again, you're not doing it, you're just next to it.

The milk business was trollbait all along, and the crazies jumped all over it (like you knew they would). It was never anything but a joke to anybody but the crazies, who were the butt of that joke.

I was stating that because of the ongoing disorder and hysteria that has arisen around current events, I tend toward tuning out any of those accusations. That was the crying wolf I was speaking to. Not only did I not go pursuing anything about Allsup, I admitted I immediately ignored it at this rate because it was neither relevant nor did it appear to be anything out of the norm; there was no reason to expect this one time out of the one thousand others they were right. That is why I made the statements I did about what I did know of him, @Dynamo Frokane.

All I can say in whole about it is, is that I do not care about James Allsup. It is the same indifference I apply to people as a whole. I am not going to weight one man's complex of supposed supremacy on an entire movement against the Far Left. He will, as it seems he has, remove his relevance from the actual, important conflict.

On another note if we are going to apply the metric of things being made into symbols of the Alt-Right, it should be forewarned that the collective Right, at least the internet incarnation of it, would take devious joy in making everything out to be "racist" if it meant getting back at their opposition by humiliating them in addition to debasing their credibility. The same reason the multiple apostrophes or parenthesis became a mainstream thing, Pepe himself, the "OK" sign, and so on. I do not care who really adopts them; these are largely insane claims to say, "Milk is racist, because a few white supremacists use milk as a symbol." Should we all stop drinking milk? No, we should act like adults and cease labeling everything as "hate speech", "bigotry", "microaggression", "tribalism" and whatever word of the day and topic is chosen.

Pepe wouldn't even be seen as anything other than the shit tier meme that it is if it wasn't for Clinton's campaign taking the fucking dumb frog and /pol/ and a photoshop seriously. If Pepe is a symbol of white supremacy it got there because of the left.

There's no better way to say it. They made one of their own worst enemies, as they did in many other categories. Much of this was by the forcing of their hand or the implications that would follow. They did not and do not understand the new Right, especially the internet's incarnation.

@mdk I mean I literally just said those things aren't racist, but are occasionally used by racist people in the alt right. Have I made any incorrect statements here, or did you just ping me to tell me how much you hate the left? because I can see that clear enough already.

I admitted I immediately ignored it at this rate because it was neither relevant nor did it appear to be anything out of the norm; there was no reason to expect this one time out of the one thousand others they were right.

Well in this instance there is evidence to suggest that the article in question was right about the claims they were making, as an individualist I would hope you would take each person on their individual merit instead of lumping them in with a broad collection of people who have accused various people of racism, because that would be somewhat ignorant and unfair to the individual. Especially when this article has no affiliation to the sub-reddit you mentioned earlier. Much in the same way you have no affiliation to Allsup.

All I can say in whole about it is, is that I do not care about James Allsup.

Once again, see below.

I am not sure what answer you are looking for then from me, @Dynamo Frokane. I can only continue to provide you the responses I have already provided as those are my opinions on the matter and exactly what I did and did not know, as well as where exactly I stood in it. I am still not speaking to the article because until recently, it was unknown to me; I cannot refer to it in that same light of past tense as to do so would be willful lying. In addition, the phrase of "I immediately ignored it..." is expressly referring to the image I saw, not the article. As far as I am aware, and because I have no reason to go searching further, the article holds its own just under its own merit.

@mdk No that's disingenuous, I'm not near any slippery slope of intellectual inconsistency or rabbit holes of left wing nonsense. Put your strawman voodoo doll away. What I said was 100% correct, that some White nationalist racists use harmless things such as milk and frogs as meme symbols, I made no other claims. Anything else you are inferring about the way I think is fantasy I'm afraid.

You're sounding paranoid, you hear something anywhere close to something some left wing idiot has said and you start tarring with brushes. I've seen you do it before, you've mistaken people in this thread criticizing trump as somehow being sympathetic to Hilary, you've mistaken people in this thread attacking the alt right as some how being supportive of Antifa, you deal in black and white extremes and I want no part of it, attack MY ideas not some imaginary buzzfeed strawman.

Look, in all honesty, I can't remember what you said two pages ago (though I'm pretty sure it wasn't that Rin was Best Girl, so you were probably wrong). I don't think about you that much. "Politics" to me is bigger than my conversation history with Dynamo. In the conversation of "Politics," you're the strawman, not Buzzfeed, as far as I'm concerned. And that's Buzzfeed. Now and then I may reference an idea that didn't bounce off your head first. That's gonna have to be okay.

I mean for the sake of manners if you're going to ping someone its probably best that you're representing their ideas fairly. If you want to make broad non-directed statements just do it in rant/monologue form like doggo or cat man usually do.
