So to clarify we're currently looking for one character for each sensation. There are currently 3 of the available six slots. Once those three slots have been filled, I will consider adding additional members. If you have any questions regarding character sheets please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks guys:D

I was gonna ask to use that character again, but then I saw they were already included in the current roster. You know me too well, mate. Guess I'll chill here till things pick up. Cheers!

@TheLoneRook So it's entirely possible that I'm blind, but is there a character sheet? Also, what do you mean by "sensation"?

@RyuShura Thanks! Looks like I jumped the gun a little there XD

@TheLoneRook

Hmm, I'm tempted to make a character with the sensation of Sound who is deaf, but I'm also tempted to make a Taste character who becomes a liiiiiitle bit of a cannibal (though not exactly by choice...)

Strangely enough, this has actually been asked quite frequently in the past. Sensations are briefly (and inadequately) touched on in the character sheets section.

The sensation your character represents is less of a "Seven Deadly Sins" vibe and more of a "this is what first inspired me to fight" vibe. It's something that your character feels deep within themselves, a part of who they are and a part of their history, something they call back on and remember when they feel the urge to fight.

Sorry, that too was confusing and inadequate.

Let me say it this way:

Your character, when he/she was young, tasted their own blood when their guts were spilled by some bad robber dude.
Strangely enough, they remember this.

They live the rest of their life up until warbrand. This sensation is ingrained as a part of them. (It's not necessarily a trauma thing, but it's the easiest to be interesting/establish/explain). They think about it. They dwell on it.

When War calls upon them to take up their warbrand, they accept, very likely fully knowing what these Warriors have been doing in the city. The sensation becomes a part of their reason to fight, or a part of their internal conflict, or a part of who they are as a person post-"War". It is up to you how this sensation manifests in your character, but I would highly recommend reflecting it in at least one, or maybe more, ways.

Anyway, hope that helped~!
If you need more examples, I can analyze my own character and spot out where I reflect him having Instinct.

@RedXCross

There is no reserving. If two people submit for sight, and we love both of them, we will just open up the next round of people.
Don't feel rushed or pressured, just submit your cs independent of other people's.

@RedXCross As Crabs said we're not going to be running reservations simply because we don't have many open slots and we're going to be accepting who we deem best fit, so if two people both have interest in a sensation we'd like the opportunity to compare them before a decision is made. If we see a lot of really good talent however I am open to opening up a second round of slots that may or may not mandate the same 6 series of sensations, but that will be something we figure as we go along.

That's too confusing, Mr. Krabs.

TLDR; It's a theme (This one being based on six specific 'perceptive' senses) that helps give the all characters a specific feel that fits into the roleplay. Often it plays large role in the concept of the character and their warbrand, but it can be subtle too. That's about all there is to it.

Alright then.

No big deal. Nothing's really coming to me character-wise... where are we going with this genre/setting wise? Like, what's the time period we're looking at? How specific is weapon vs. War machine i.e. is a sniper rifle a machine or a weapon? and if so that means it can also become something else?

And like, I'm not sure if the "Saving Grace" is enough of a motivation to pick up the sword in the first place. Unless you're a ruthless killer sworn to vengance or something else, what other reason would someone have to pick up a warbrand in the first place unless they're bein forced to do it?

@RedXCross Since I was asked by the Co-GM, I will take the liberty to clear up your misconceptions. :^D

First, as stated by the title, this is a Modern setting with a Fantasy blend mixed in. Keeping that in mind, 'the world’s your oyster in the world of weaponry!' when it comes to the Warbrand. So long as it pertains to either genre, the type of weapon it may transform into is rather generous.

But they either have to be a 'Weapon' or a 'Machine'. The former being an actual weapon, in the most literal sense. You use it to bash people in, shoot 'em up. Whatever. While the latter is more abstract and serves to afflict enemies is less direct ways. It doesn't have to be scientifically sound, since this is part of the 'fantasy' aspect, but it still has to have some logic to the function. At least, that's how I interpreted this part of the Warbrand differentiation. There is a bit of vague and inconclusive data on this part, so we will convene with the GM to clear that up soon.

if you need an example, my character 'Terry' uses a special gas-controlling mask, which would be considered a 'Machine'. Be creative.

."..However, the select few who survive their initial touch of the Warbrand’s violent aura develop what we in the business call a Saving Grace. This grace is what holds you together, what drives you to fight. The love of a family member, the desire for vengeance, even the malicious contempt towards death itself. This will to survive..."

Their intention does not have to be malicious, nor do they have to be psychotic. Take my character for example, they view it as a means to prevent more pain, round-about as it may seem. Some might see it as a way to escape their current life-style, a way to grant a wish. There are many ways to go about this, you simply have to think broadly.

@RedXCross To compliment @RyuShura's comment, a Warbrand is in part what defines a Warriors's will to fight on, embodied by some form of sense (for instance the scent displayed in Ryu's brief snippet,) which then defines that character. We expect that theme to be present in the character themselves, so as to further the plot concept.

Due to the details of War (the antagonist), no Warrior would be granted a gun or rifle, because he considers such weaponry to be "cheating the glory of combat". I would look into other concepts for the purpose of this roleplay. Again, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

OK so to clarify a lot more because apparently my clarifying needs clarification in order to clarify the clarifiers n'such.

I know the character creation is very minimalist so I apologize for any confusion you all may be having so I'm going to try to hit all your inquiries one at a time.

-It is a modern setting. War has decided to do all of this because he misses the good ol' days when people got together and killed each other in big groups, if you wanted a layman's explanation of the plot.
-A machine is anything that is not specifically a traditional weapon, feel free to get creative with that. The only things I'm not going to allow is pure magic (fireball hands or some shit) or guns, simply due to the nature of War.
-A Warbrand can become a set of weapons or multiple pieces of equipment, feel free to go big with the idea and if it's too much I'll work with you personally so that it works for everyone.
-A Saving Grace is simply what drives you to live, not necessarily to fight. All a Saving Grace does is keep the Warbrand's overwhelming power from killing you. It's not necessarily any sort of motivator towards war or combat. We don't expect all of the characters to just drop their lives and go "gung ho here we go time to kill some fuckers".
-Sensations are basically just themes, don't freak out about them too much I made them seem like more of a big deal then they are.
-yeah I think I got it all

My character will be up very soon, as well as some neutral characters you'll see around that will be very integrated into the story. Cheers boys & girls.

Hey @DangDude!

Thanks for submitting this thing and stuff.

Also, here's some stuff:

Under saving grace you have "the will to live for herself" and - oh, actually, you edited this. Nevermind. Good work.
Anyway, just remember that the saving grace also brands itself on the warbrand and you're good to go in that department.

Other than that, the only real problem in your CS is your warbrand itself.
(No problems with the actual blade, just its powers)

"wielding it allows her to distort her image, though often unaware to the beholder. A strike that should have landed somehow misses, a
swing you thought you dodged yet it cost you your arm. Though it seems small, it makes it very difficult to determine things such
as the true attributes of her blade. Is it truly as it appears, or something quite more deadly…?

Who’s to say?"

Anyway, distorting the wielder's image is actually a really cool and fun idea for a power. The fact she's unaware it does this is lame, however, and I suggest you just scratch that part out.

But the actual issue (sorry for beating around the bush) is where you talk about the "true attributes of her blade" - what true attributes? Is it how it appears? I really don't know, The point of the character sheet is to inform us about these things.

I actually do like where you're going with your cs, though, and I can't wait to see you develop your ideas some more. If you don't want to reveal all the warbrand's powers, that's fine, just make sure you PM me (or TheLoneRook, but he's lame >:o) (...or both of us) the powers so we can check them off and make sure they're all right and dandy for the rp. However, if you actually don't know what its powers are, that's an issue you'll have to fix on your own time, lol.

OH no, she would know the actual length and characteristics of the blade, I was moreso trying to state how anyone else looking at the sword wouldn't be able to tell. It wouldn't make much sense to have her not know the characteristics of her own sword. I was thinking about maybe making it so that that's just what her sword looks like because of its powers, but truly be completely different, although I think I'll probably scrap that idea. Like I said though, I'm super tired so I started wording things kind of weirdly. I'll probably change it a bit in the morning, but I just wanted to make sure I got my character at least somewhat done so I could make sure I was going in the right direction. The powers are pretty limited to that for now though; making her blade look shorter so that the person dodging is still hit/nicked, or distorting her own appearance in order to avoid attacks. I'd like to expand the abilities a bit to make decoys or even change her appearance completely for a limited amount of time, but that also kind of goes against her character so I might add them and have them just be something she morally chooses not to use?? Like I said though, things probably better to think about after sleep.

Honestly, the character you're describing to me sounds very underpowered (maybe that's just me).
Also, in my opinion, from a playing-a-roleplay perspective, why have a power if your character will never use it?

Just some feedback. Like I said, I'm really interested in your character, and if you choose to take her in a completely different way, or draft a completely new character, good on you!
