A beam of light descended from the heavens, splitting clouds and lighting up the jungle around it. Elegantly, a being of natural beauty floated down through it. The light slowly faded as she opened her eyes slowly, almost seductively. She looked down at herself, studying her own, full, beautiful form. She inhaled deeply, contentedly... before gagging violently, her color changing eyes becoming a sickly green in disgust.

"UGH! What's that smell!?" The beauty shouted. She took another look around, spotting the source. There, just a few feet from her, was a rotting animal corpse. She gasped sharply, only to immediately resume gagging. She was used to seeing dead bodies in games, but she never had to smell them before. She turned away, but couldn't get the image out of her mind. Usually corpses were just a bloody body with some bones sticking out, but this... this was just too real. She could see all of the... and it's... "What kind of sicko made this game? Why would my brother buy it!?" Suddenly, an image of a teenage boy appeared in her mind. Towering over her, he mocked her for not being able to handle "mature content." "See, this is why I don't let you play any of my games."

The fairy steeled herself, her eyes graying. She'd show him. She'd play this game to the end and become the greatest sorceress that ever lived! It was then that she noticed a string of letters hovering over her head. They remained the right way no matter how she turned. They read ~xXxTehPr3ttestFairyof@llxXx~.

The Prettiest Fairy giggled to herself. Wait till my dumb brother tries to log on and sees THAT as his username! After she was done with her giggling fit, she looked up. The username had disappeared, replaced by three bars, one red, one blue, and one green. Those too slowly faded. Just as she was just about to pick a direction and head in it, the was a flash of blue, magical sparkles as two items fell to the ground. One was a tattered, old book. The other was a cracked wand. The wand was black with a white tip, the kind a magician might use. She tried to be excited, after all, she could finally use magic like she always wanted to in real life, but her starting gear was a little... lack luster.

The Prettiest Fairy sighed. "Not exactly the kind of stuff the greatest sorceress would have." she muttered to herself. She glanced back over at the disgusting animal corpse, an idea forming in her mind. "Hey! I bet a monster did this! That's why it's so gross! If I find that monster and beat it, I might get better stuff! Or at least, money to get better stuff" And so the Prettiest Fairy of All floated along, her eyes literally glowing with excitement.

"I was not given a warning that I would be dropped from there!" Elena thought, observing the cloudless sky. She leaned back into a relaxed sitting position, and noticed the new world around her. She look a quick glance around. The while grass stood tall and firm, fragile dewdrops clung to each individual strand. "So realistic... How do they produce such glamours details?" In front of her lay a stone necklace, a basic pair of leather boots, and a rusty dagger. Okay... the guide said walking should be simple. She stood up, straightened her back and took one step forward, bending her legs far too much and taking a comically short step at the same time. The controls were awkward and foreign to her. She sat back down and reach out to the starting boots. Her arm movements were much more natural than her legs, but still could use some work. "So thats how it feels..." She thought to herself.
Behind her, something shuffled towards her. Elena whipped her torso around, and stared a a small animate rock, no taller than her knees. It had a short lose branch jumble and a sharp grey rock as its one arm, two smoother rocks and a assortment of pebbles for legs, and two sturdy boulders for a body and head. Its eyes were sunken in and a solid shade of blue, emitting a soft light source. Moss and small plants decorated its head and shoulders. Elena dropped her boots, and let out a squeak. Her heart sank and she shut her eyes tightly. She tried to to shield her head and keep it away from this horrid monster, but ended up slapping her face instead. She braced herself for an attack, but nothing occurred.
Reopening her eyes, she saw the horrific beast. Actually... it wasn't that bad. The tiny rock "thing" tilted its head like a puppy, its blue eyes glaring into Elenas. It was almost cute, but still weird. "Aren't you going to attack me or something? she said. The rock thing just stood there, like a rock. Elena broke out into laughter. She concluded that the rock was a friend, not a foe."Don't do that again! You scared me!" It still stood there, just like before. Elena chuckled a little more, but her tone changed to be more cautious. "So are you a npc? Maybe the tutorial? Wait... you're a player, right?" The rock stared back, with heavier intensity than before. How strange... I guess I should let it be... It hasn't concerned itself with me, after all.
She turned her torso again and addressed the gear layed out in front of her.Elena slipped her feet into the worn in boots. Dew had rubbed off from the grass and made the insides of the thin leather cold and damp. "Great... they're damp and ugly. How can they make such beautiful grass and not put any thought into the starter items!" She inspected her dagger, it was rusty, brittle and lightweight. Too heavy of a strike could easily snap the blade in half. "Good to know the devs of the game want me to defend myself with this paperclip" She made a small slash in the air with it, pretending the dagger was a long sword and she a strong warrior. Finally, she hung the stone necklace around her neck, feeling its smooth curves. She gripped her new weapon and took a step forward. Her stride was still awkward, but soon developed into a stable walk.
After 3 steps Elena heard 5 quick thumps behind her."Are you following me?" she said, turning her head to face the rocks. The rock still stood like a statue and stared, watching Elena's eyes. "Do you mind staying behind?" Dismissing the rock, she took 5 more steps foward, and 8 thumps followed behind. Its obvious this thing isnt listening to me... what do I do? Elena halted her movement, crouched down to the tiny rock man. She flooded it with questions, and commands. She was less angry and more curious to find out the purpose of this creature. "Are you lost? Whats your name?
What species are you? Why are you following me? Can I help you?"
For every sentence she said, she was given a blank, emotionless, still stare. Elena finally gave in and let the rock follow her, she had no other choice. It wasn't harming her, so why not?
"Assuming you can't speak, you probably dont know your name. I think of one for you by tomorrow, for now your just called Eb." Elena said, taking steps forward. Behind her, the rock creature had a blue name appear above its head. Eb.

The dire panther stared them down with the dangerous and taciturn aura of a bunch of knives taped to a gun taped to a gargoyle.

"So we have the good and the bad, and now the ugly." Walker's cocky smile tried to distract anyone in his radius from his quivering legs. The adrenaline was coursing through every rendered polygon of skin, making him take deep, laborious breaths. At last, a chance for the authentic cowboy to prove himself. His mind lovingly painted an image of Walker sitting in a fireplace, the head of a dire panther tacked to the wall, drinking apple juice that looked like alcohol and having Raine tell him he was cool.

His right arm shot forwards like a firecracker, holding his slingshot in the worst way possible. He was doing twelve of the ten things you're not supposed to do with a slingshot, and displaying a dreamworks face the entire time. Walker swirled his arms around like a wise monk.

"This town ain't big enough for the two of us, partner."

"A-and you too Raine, it's big enough for us two, 'cause we're a team, but not for the dire panther, because uh, he can't pay taxes and he's naked, both of which are illegal you know."

Walker's face quickly shifted back to being arrogant and feisty. After a few stretched out seconds of fiddling with the weapon a rock materialized in his left hand. The idiot stretched the slingshot as far as he could, awkwardly set the pebble and fired. If this were a movie, there would be a record scratch and a freeze frame, followed by Will's narration of "You're probably wondering how I got here."

"Finally," Raine thought, "something to test this body against." Of course, she would have preferred to fight on her own terms, that is to say with a sword, but beggars couldn't be choosers. Walker awkwardly chucked a rock at the Dire Panther before she could aggro it, but, in all likelihood, it was her fault for not paying better attention. That said, she wasn't entirely clear on how threat worked in Dreamscape, assuming it did. "Well, no time like the present."

"We can worry about town once we're out of danger, Sir Walker," Raine said calmly as she drew her axe. Without any better ideas, she opted for the simple solution and charged toward the Dire Panther with her shield raised like a battering ram and axe extended in preparation for the inevitable collision.

The panther stared them down as it circled around them, it's mouth arching as it growled to reveal it's vicious teeth. The tiny ball shifted it's gaze to the cowboy. "Hey so um, you should be careful cause I think it's about to-" As she was speaking the Panther launched itself at Walker, bearing tooth and claw as it picked him out of the two. The roar it let out could be heard from quite a distance away, signalling to any in the vicinity that a battle was taking place.

The Prettiest Fairy of All glided through the jungle. The sun shone down in luminescent pillars, the leaves and foliage making shadow patterns on the thick underbrush. All of the leaves were vibrant greens while the jungle flowers made stunning rainbows of color. It would have been a paradise simply traveling between the mighty jungle trees, were it not for the swarms of insects that plagued the Fairy. I get they were trying to make it all realistic and crud... she thought to herself. But did they have to put bugs in it?! I hate bugs!!

To make matters worse, the trail of mutilated animal corpses, which were bad enough by themselves, had grown cold. It had been at least ten minutes since she saw the last one, and now she wasn't even sure if she was going the right direction. Frustrated, she had just given up and began looking for somewhere to sit, maybe reflect on whether it was even worth it just to get back at her brother, when she heard a deafening roar from not too far away. She flew towards it at top speed. Personal growth would have to wait, she had a monster to fight and a point to prove!

She sped through the jungle, feeling a rush of adrenaline. She was glad she was playing a fairy, able to move around just by thinking about it. She imagined this was what it felt like to ride a motorcycle.

The Prettiest Fairy burst through the tree line, and what she saw filled her with excitement. There was a MASSIVE lion, cat, thing, attacking two other players! One of them was a girl, like her, with an axe and a shield. She couldn't help but give the warrior a slightly judgmental look, the shield reminding her far too much of the kinds of characters her brother would play. The other was a man with a slingshot. Aside from the odd choice of weaponry, he was actually kind of cute. His stubbly face indicated he was a bad boy who didn't care about societal norms, not like the clean shaven pretty boys her brother would play.

The Fairy opened her spell book, a red target redicle appearing in her view. Since there were no other enemies in the area, it defaulted to the tiger, puma, thing. She thought of using same kind of long ranged attack, and the book's pages began flipping themselves. When they were done, one of the spells on the page glowed, rainbow characters wafting off the page. She aimed her wand at the jaguar, monster, thing, and read the words off the page, despite not actually knowing what she was saying. "Projectus Arcanus; Magic Missile!"

An orb of non-descript magic shot out of the end of her wand, traveling through the air in an arc towards it's target. It whistled like a fire work before exploding into rainbow sparkles against the cat thing's back.

"Damn threat-grabbing noob!" Raine cursed in her head as the Panther ignored her in favor of Walker. "Tank goes in first, give them a few seconds to build threat, then start attacking!" With her charge already underway in earnest, she had to run with her momentum. She continued in a straight line for a few seconds before angling back in a wide arc and realigned her path with the Panther. "I refuse to die in the noob zone, she thought irritably. She'd chew him out for jumping the gun later; right now, all that mattered was the fight.

It seemed unlikely that she would reach the two before the cat went to work on Walker, and then suddenly, an orb of light shot out of nowhere and impacted the Panther in a spectacular display of color. Raine didn't concern herself with the "why" of the sudden intervention, but rather, she pressed the assault.

The small stone connecting to the panther had made a smaller noise that went mostly unnoticed. However, it had the same effect on Will as clicker training had on a dog. It gave his brain a shot of chemical goodness and made his breaths transition into sultry, labored panting. That piece of shit got hit by me. It felt what I gave it. IT FELT IT! HA!!!

The beast hurled itself at Walker, causing him to stand in awe at the physics engine in place. As time began to slow, he wondered, for a brief moment, what being mauled to death was like. This execution was stopped by the beast's back erupting into a mess of light and sparkles, replacing Walker's face of erotic fear with erotic uncertainty. Seeing Raine unphased by the turn of events inspired Will to quickly revert to his previous casual gamer bloodlust.

At his mental command the archer caused two pebbles to spawn in his artificially calloused hands. The bluntest way to describe his attacks was that it was apparent that he had minimum strength and maximum dexterity. Although Will was by all means an idiot when it came to using slingshots, the game's stat system had meddled around with his mind, and he found his hands to be very fine-tuned and knowledgeable as to what his brain desired.

After focusing a bit harder the fighter had willed a third projectile to form in his hand. With a pair of shaky arms and a set of euphoric eyes Walker fired two of the pebbles like a machine gun, the attacks doing almost nothing in damage but landing skillfully. It was clear that if he didn't attempt to move around the battlefield, the panther would target him again, but the cowboy only thought abut overpowering his opponent and stood rooted to the ground while gulping down his excessive drooling.

Walker set the third pebble in place and longingly gazed at his opponent. This feeling, it's SO GOOD!!

Eb, we've got to work on your pacing... we'll never get anywhere. Ellie paced through the jungle eagerly, trying to suck in as much of the world she could. Eb struggled to keep pace with her, lobbing his body behind. "So this is why everyone plays this game...." Ellie said, talking to her silent rock pal. its just so... real. With every step, they're was a new discovery around the corner. Ellie's fingertips traced any texture she could find, and her eyes glared at any abnormality she could scout. Every detail was sewn in the game with care, like one grand quilt. It brought a sense of joy to her heart, knowing that they're was an entire new world she could walk into and leave at her will. She actually had a choice on who she could be and what she could do in this world.
A loud sound went off in the distance. A beast growl and players talking had broken her daydream. What was that... she wondered. A futuristic blast sounded off, followed by movement and rageful noises from the beast. Must be an encounter... sounds like they have it handled however, we should just keep walking, i've got to get to town... Fear flooded her. If I stay to help, I might get jumped myself of become lost or mess up... ive got to go forward.. Ellie continued walking forward. She attempted to ignore the noises in the distance, but it just made her think about it more. Why does this feel wrong... for once, I have a chance to make my own decision, I can be bold, so why am I walking? She stopped her walking, and thought to herself. If I mess up here I can just wait till tomorrow or log off... why am I afraid? She turned to Eb, and swooped him up with one arm."Were going to be heros in this game Eb."
A rush of adrenaline electrified her fingertips, as she gripped her dagger. "Were going to kick ass and look cool, like the hip version of Dora and Boots" As she started her jog towards the fight, she thought to herself. This is where my new life starts...

The Panther grew more annoyed with the group as they pelted it, turning to the fairy and swiping at her as it let out a great roar. It waved it's tail about annoyed, then looked at the rest of them as it growled. As the tension grew, the tiny ball floated over to it silently and paused next to the creature without taking it's attention. Suddenly it smacked it on the head, "Take tha- AH!" it tackled the ball as a tiny red 1 floated above the head of the panther and began to chew it for a moment. Of course it couldn't deal any damage to the AI but it made it feel better for a minute at least.
