Well we are still close to Lasthope so it is possible that some of the council thought we might need extra Troopers and have sent you out with another squad of men (8 men in each squad) I can't see them sending out a lone rider though and you'd also be dragging about 10 pack horses so that you don't cause a supply shortage.

I know it sounds a bit much but it fits and the extra people can be expansion characters for everyone who wants a second CS or any other new comers

If you want to be an ambush specialist the skills I would suggest are Stealth, Traps and nasty tricks, Archery, Tactics, Tracking, Close Combat, Warhammer, Sword, and Free climbing

any Three of those would give you the skills of Special Forces, Hector is sort of that sort, in fact all of you are Special in your own ways.

Edit: Scouts are the point men of the Bands of Lasthope, the sneaky guys who go out in teams of two

Self Sufficient Survival: Trevor has been trained to survive in the wilds nearly indefinitely by himself if he has too, because of his father’s strict training he has more in-depth knowledge than what is commonly taught. Knows how to hunt most animals and what plants are edible as well as how to prepare them. Knows how to track people and animals as well as knowing how to evade those who would be tracking him. Is able to read maps and compasses as well as the lay of the land. He is very familiar with building long and short term survival shelters and is very good at scouting and gathering information.

Stealth: Even with him being rather large he is light on his feet. Trevor knows how to stalk others when it’s necessary and can stay hidden from the living or the dead. It’s almost second nature now, he could take a few steps off into the brush and just disappear.

Melee weaponry: although being adequate with the bow Trevor is very good with blunt, piercing, and slashing weapons. For him it does not matter whether its hand crafted or improvised as long as it works.

I too thought it a bit short but also think the object here was that the entire troop has just executed a sweep in the same way they have before when they were all green Troopers and Scouts, Jain's speech was even almost the same you all heard in boot camp so sort of a Unit punishment and display of how Jain sees Benny's death. He wandered out of range of support and walked alone to a Risen which is one of Chief Comber's most Important lessons on surviving contact with the Risen.

I also have no issue with yourself as Second in command continuing in detail or Hector for his side if you have something in mind; I leave the amount of effort up to the player.

Maisy and the Techs could be going over the critical supplies and common trade supplies which you'll add as you proceed till Petra says her pack can't support.
