Alexander swallowed hard at first. "I'm sorry. Miss, I mean Master Lunilla? I'm Alexander of Tyrania." He first introduced himself with a curtsy bow. "You are apparently my mentor." he continued, showing her the paper that was sent to every first year. With a finger pointing at his own name down below. He held it up for a few moments and then put it back. "So, I saw you are something named a Rune Weaver? I must admit, I do not know what that is, but-" he lifted up his book with various uneven parchments in between it. "I did some research on my own. On runes, I mean. And I also saw you were our teacher for magical applications. So I was wondering, could you help me turn my book into a Spell Focus?" He hoped she would agree. or at least tell him where to go if she couldn't help him. He felt that he truly needed the focus. Not only that. It would form the groundworks for his Grimoire.

Silias Aeson

@Spirit

Silias kept walking down the hallway, refusing to turn his head until he faintly heard the sounds of the Headmistress' door opening and closing. "Well, well, well," he muttered. "She's certainly an interesting one. I'm not entirely sure what to make of her." Biblio looked up at the young man, making odd chirruping sounds. "Yes, you made your opinion of her rather clear. You think she's delightful."

Silias went over his brief conversation with the High Elf in his mind once more. "Be that as it may..." He removed his thumb from over a specific portion of the mentor assignments, revealing his impending studies under the Mistress of the Moon. "It's clear that her top priority is to break the boundaries imposed by her native society, and learning how she can do so. Choosing the favored art of the dark elves, though..."

Silias had made it back to the hall of students' rooms, noting a familiar Teifling standing abreast of someone's door.

Biblio chirruped several more times.

Silias put a hand on his chin, continuing to mutter behind it. "True, we still don't know what connection she has to that Teifling. Is it a free Teifling, possibly one she had freed, or is she really pushing the limits by owning a slave?"

Silias reached his room a moment later, deciding to further examine his knob. The one on his door was of a curious design, an anatomically incorrect heart carved and polished to look as if it was dripping with thick black ink. Humorously, there were a few drops suspended from the bottom of the heart by small but surely durable chains. Whoever had taken the time to craft the doorknob had certainly put a lot of effort into detail. Though it may have been Silias' imagination, every time he placed his hand on the doorknob he could almost feel a heartbeat pulsing through the dark metal.

Collecting his things from his spacious room - at least by his familiar's standards, who entertained himself by leaping and swinging from narrow perch to lightly less narrow perch - Silias decided to bite the proverbial bullet and visit the baths.

Silias carefully made sure to pick a spot away from the majority of his peers before taking off his towel and slipping into the water. While some found no issues with bathing with others - certainly those few wrestling in the bathwater had no such qualms - Silias reasoned that it would be best to distance himself in that lieu. Biblio's appearance wasn't one he wanted to use as a deterrent, but he didn't want to risk potential physical contact, and figured using magic to deflect attention would just be suspicious to anyone with the wits to notice.

Silias took his time washing his hair, ruminating on what he wanted to accomplish. The shorter term goals came first: to get out of the baths without incident, to break the fast imposed by slumber, and to start perusing the books in the Arcanium before reporting to his mentor for his first lesson. His mind flashed to that woman from the feast, who had been helping to serve those exotic (and delicious) foods Silias had not heard of before. She seemed the most likely candidate for the "Mistress of the Moon."

Silias waited until he was certain none were near enough to notice anything before truly relaxing. There was time before students were required to arrive to class, so why not try and enjoy it a little?

Silias emerged from the water a few minutes later, wrapping his towel around his torso before truly going to reclothe himself.

Breakfast was a much more carefree experience on the whole for Silias. He made sure to avoid overstuffing himself on the food, but tried to make sure he had enough to lend plenty of awareness and energy should he have to exert himself in class.

On his way to said class, he pulled a book off of a shelf more or less at random, a hefty tome engraved with the title Every Single Difference Between Drow and Dark Elves, by Piz'Doff Do'Urden. After strategically positioning two of his bone spider constructs on his body, using their perspectives to increase his awareness of his surroundings, he opened the book and started to read without breaking stride.

The man gave a hearty laugh before taking one of each of the breakfast items on the hot iron and put it between the two pieces of toast with a few slices of cheese he had hidden in a cooler spot under a table so it wouldn't melt. He took a large hammer after putting all the food into the toasted sandwich, stacked high and almost ready to fall over, then brought the hammer crashing down on top of the sandwich, smashing it into a easily held disk like mess. He offered the sandwich to his kin, and then began to speak.

"Hahaaa, I am not the master enchanter brother. I am Dovlin Ahbarer." This name was one of instant recognition in the realm of the dwarves. Dolvin Ahbarer was known far and wide in the dwarven lands as the finest smith in recent dwarven history, who disappeared about 15 years ago after taking a trip to a close by kingdom.

"The master you're reffering to, is master Tivi Rovi, a dear friend of mine. Those enchantments you saw on your way in were his doing. Though the metalwork is of my personal hand." He gave a hearty laugh that filled the room as he made yet another sandwich in the same fashion.

@Legion02

"Oh... I see. Yes yes. Come in young one." Her voice was a bit sharp and deliberate from word to word, but her voice still felt somehow gentle. She moved away from the door and allowed the student to come in. Upon entering the room, the first thing someone would notice would be it was remarkably typical for a classroom. There were rows of tables lined up and facing a stage like area. There were several paper bulbs on one of the tables, made of parchment that was remarkably yellowed and stiff looking. Master Lunilla moved gracefully through the room, making her way deliberatly to a free table. Her outfit was a long pearly blue robe that hid any sign of her figure, and it was almost indistinguishable from her silver flowing hair. She sat at the table and motioned for her student to come sit with her. When he was at the table with her, she calmly took the book and placed it onto the table.

"First I should explain, my title of the rune weaver is one given to me for what many in this land would consider a rather... Unusual... Method of casting my spells..." Her hands began to glow at the tips of her fingers as she guided them through the air with the gentleness of a flowing stream. As she did, lines began to take shape where her fingers moved. It soon made a floating character unfamiliar to the student, or anyone in the school for that matter. The character glowed with a gentle blue pale glow, and somehow felt gentle. She let him observe for a moment, but then soon placed her hand behind the character with her palm facing outward and spoke very deliberately and very sharply. "Wéifēng." A gentle breeze blew from out of the character and onto the boy's face that he could tell was not present in the room naturally.

"In my land, this is how magic is normally cast. It was actually strange to me, that you all do not use magic this way." She straightened her pointer and middle fingers and quickly swiped through the character from the side and then down the middle, making it dissipate into thin air. "However, because of this strange magic to you, I was dubbed a user of a similar concept called runes. But in my land, magic is part of everyday life. Because of this, my knowledge from my days in the monastery have made me in this land's eyes an expert in the usage of magic, and the application of it in practicality for use in every day life. This has also lead to me becoming a teacher in magical concepts. And so that brings us to your focus." She motioned to the book.

"A focus, in essence, is an extension of a mage's self. A personal tool that is bonded to them, and assists them only. To make one I cannot help you too much, as the process is incredibly intimate and personal between a mage and their focus. You must carry it at all times, and you must flow your magic into it regularly, constantly even. It is the same process as a fortune teller bonding with their cards to tell the future. You must likewise, bond to your focus." The master waved her hands in the air and made projections of her lecture as she spoke, giving a small visual aid as she spoke. "There is something I can do for you however. I can give you a way to bond with your focus more directly."

@Rune_Alchemist

Very abruptly the door swung open and Isil found herself swooped up into the arms of a large woman with a motherly deeper voice. "Oh why HELLO my new student! HELLO, HELLO, HELLOOOOOOOOO!" The large woman squeezed the student affectionately and tightly before putting her back down onto the ground. The woman that had just suddenly man-handled the poor elf was a large, rather plump and homely woman and came off as intolerably overly friendly. "I am master Liyva! The Restoration teacher! I am so happy to have you in my class young miss Isilfarrel!"

@MadManMoon

(Because that other name was awful and non-immersive lol)

The Drow and the Dark Elves have often times in culture been called the same. This however, is simply not true. While it is true that the Drow are descended from the Dark Elves and share many similarities, they are intrinsically an entirely separate race. It is notable to state that the Dark Elves and Drow despise each other, this is due to years of political differences. While the Dark Elves are known to be cruel and inhumane in their practices, having built cities on slave labor and attempted to invade and conquer other nations regularly; the Drow are known to live in a more tribal life style in a secluded forest on the coast of the mainland. The Drow refuse to take slaves, and often avoid communing with the outside world. This is due to their falling out with the Dark Elf society many generations ago, and this is where the term "Drow" originated. The term was originally a slur used to denote "lesser" beings in the dark elf blood pool, that didn't have the traits that Dark Elves deemed to be the proof of superior genetics. Because of these lack of genetic traits, these "lesser" dark elves were enslaved by their own people, and often worked along side human prisoners and tiefling slave workers. But one day, a revolution occurred, and the small group of rebellious slaves that embraced their new name "Drow", gained their freedom.

Once they escaped to the forest they now call their home, they spent generations there and soon they began to change.

Vale Azsier

Being slightly annoyed would be putting it lightly for Vale, this place and its people were too happy and animated for his tastes. To him the other students seemed more like children who had just been let out to play. He could understand some of them better if they had been literally starving before breakfast but all he could think to do was grab a couple of rare Maw Beast steaks. The flesh of the Maw Beast’s is purple and extremely tasty for dark elves as their flesh has been tainted with dark energy, slightly pickled in light poisons and exotic spices smelling of raw slightly putrid meat, it acted as a slight pick me up and was good for the mind.

In his rush it did not take him long before getting to what he hoped was his class, a place where he could hopefully get out of the crowded hallway to somewhere he could eat. He could hear voices behind the door, touching it to push open the door it felt warm. Holding the meat in his other hand he had found some bread to wrap the meat in before leaving the dining area. Pushing the warm door open he paused on the other side, letting the door swing closed behind him.

The smell of metal, fire, and sausage? Were some main smells that filled his senses. He could still hear others in the room, but they were blocked from sight due to the arrangement of enchanted armor in front of him. The Elf paused in front of them taking a bite of his purple meat sandwich, some armor glowed and glimmered in his presence. Brushing his hand over one he felt a bit of pain across his fingertips, dark magic trailed behind his stroke seemed to be repelled by the aura on the armor. “Hmm magic resistance” he mumbled continuing to eat and eye the fine craftsmen ship.

About half-way through his sandwich he abandoned his appraising of such fine craftsmanship and took a look around the room before addressing the two dwarfs talking near the forge. He recognized both, one from yesterday when they were let inside, but the other he recognized from far before he ever even thought he would come here. “Dovlin Ahbarer and master dwarf” Vale casually spoke while eating, even if he thought everyone was beneath him he knew he would have to be civil at some point.

He continued to finish his breakfast as he simply stood away from them, his hand still resting on the pommel of his masterwork blade. Truth be told, Vale had known about this particular dwarf for some time. Not because he knew the Dwarf but because he was known throughout his people and could one day be a very enticing target for a strike team if they wanted to start a war between the dwarfs and someone else. Framing the murder on someone or something else, a different race or kingdom perhaps was not unheard-of and something they have done before.

Kyvir Lokerakir

@Conscripts@Spirit

Nearly two hours had passed since he'd taken up his position at his mistresses door, and in the time past he had began to think to himself, contemplating what duties he may be asked to fulfill. Perhaps Lady Mornelis will finally allow me to prove myself. he thought to himself, the slightest semblance of a smile forming on his lips for less than a moment. It had been far, far too long since he had been in a good fight, the last battle he had attended was his final rite, the one she purchased him from. At least my magic hasn't dulled, I hope the same can be said of my swordplay. He mused, a small flame floating a few inches from his chest before disappearing at Kyvir's order. Glancing down the hall, for the dozenth time, he looked at the shadows cast by the sun upon the stone floor and with a sigh, departed from his post.

As he walked, he kept an eye on his surroundings and thought for a moment, before making his way to the cafeteria. The grand hall seemed less grand now, given that it wasn't brimming with food and laughter, but it was still grand albeit in a different manner than the night before. Making his way to the opposite end of the hall, he collected a light breakfast of raw lamb before taking a seat and eating it quickly. After his breakfast, Kyvir made his way to the room number his parchment read, and entered; surprisingly the classroom was already occupied by a younger human, and a matured Dark-Elf.

Garuda Pacifier

He was quite early for class, but was not early enough on campus so that he could head out and have a training session at the dueling arena. As the dual factors uncomfortably occurred simultaneously, an inevitable result came to bear: boredom.

Garuda could not afford to fall asleep, but there weren't many who were willing to strike a conversation with the techno-mage, so it was a literal nothing to do, just squandering and killing his time on things that he shouldn't be doing for his path to becoming a warrior. It was simply a waste of time. There was a Dark-Elf who then walked into the room, but apparently, he also wasn't the type to maintain a long conversation, even if Garuda actively sought for it.

Then, after like a medium-eternity, another being walked into the classroom. This time a person with red skins. It didn't appear to be dyed, but rather the natural skin of his species. If his memories did not play a prank on him, the species that this man was originated from...was Tiefling.

"Interesting..."

He had heard stories about Tieflings. About their destructive magical capability. Some of them were true. Some were altered by dimensions, space and time. But two things were certain for the techno-mage, was that Tieflings should be approached with respect, and that this man in front of him glimmered as no less than a worthy opponent. He might be the nearest to becoming the one like Alister, one who could satisfy his thirst for battle and glory of victory. It had been too long, too too long, ever since Garuda had had any worthy adversary. His desires and wishes for it had bottled up considerably. And hopefully, this Tiefling would be able to slake it. Or, at the least, gave him an interesting conversation until class time.

"Greetings." Garuda gestured his greetings, as a sign to invite him into a conversation, and hopefully will fledge into a rivalry.

Garanin Stonehewer

Garanin's eyes widened and he shook his head in a bit of shock as Dolvin introduced himself, accepting the sandwich he was offered with a grateful nod. "Aye, what in the bloody hells are ya doin' here, then?! Ya coulda at least tahld somebody yew were just hangin' out at the Arcanium, the rest of us Dwarves thought you went an' bit the dust!" Chuckling as Dovlin finished his explanation, Garanin nodded and let out a little hum. "Well, I s'pose that makes some sense as well. Cannae believe I didn' recognize yah there, Ahbarer!"

The dark elf's arrival, however, turned Garanin's mood a bit. He perked up when the man spoke about having met Dovlin before, but his guard didn't fall. One might call him prejudiced, but he was fairly certain even most of those people would be a bit cautious around a true Dark Elf. They had a reputation, and for a reason.

"'Ello thar, sir." Garanin only passively noticed that this man before them kept his hand near his weapon, but as a fully armored and armed student in a mages academy, Garanin could hardly fault him. Old habits died hard, after all.

Silias continued to read the tome, clearly invested in its contents. While his construct-extended range of vision made him aware that he was getting close to the Rune Weaver's classroom, he decided to try and read at least another page or two before he reached the door.

Isilfarrel Mornelis

@Spirit

Isil's expectations continually were being shattered, it seemed.

"Oh why HELLO my new student! HELLO, HELLO, HELLOOOOOOOOO!"

"B-bwuh!?" Red colored the high elfs cheeks brightly, unused to such affections.

"I am master Liyva! The Restoration teacher! I am so happy to have you in my class young miss Isilfarrel!"

"I-uhm-" Isil stumbled over her words momentarily. This...this was the master of healing arts she was going to be taught by? First impression she seemed...incredibly bubbly and exuberant. Which was fine, she supposed. One should at least enjoy their work, right? On the other hand though, she seemed far too affectionate. "I-it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Mistress Liyva." She replied, clearing her throat. "I, erm, suppose you already know me, then." Isil rubbed the back of her head sheepishly. Good impression. Right, she had to at least make a good impression and tolerate this over exuberant woman.

"...you are to be my teacher then?" The young elf asked. Truthfully...she had no idea how to speak with someone like Liyva. She wasn't good with the overly bubbly or extremely talkative types.

~Your friendly neighborhood spoopy ghost~

@MadManMoon

Before Silias could reach the door however, it seemed as though something else had taken an interest in him. The air in the area suddenly began to grow colder and suddenly the book he was reading would rather forcefully be grabbed out of his hands by a seeming gust of wind from nowhere. The book itself began to float a few feet in front of him as a girlish, somewhat childish sounding giggle was heard.

Before he could question it, the book fell and dropped onto the ground, open to no particular page in general. A sprite of light hovered over the book - it was small, barely bigger than a hand and seemed to generate a cold, though gentle breeze and seemed to want Silias to approach it.

@Rune_Alchemist

Silias blinked several times behind his tinted lenses, trying to process what just happened. He considered possible explanations. One was that the book had been taken from his hands by one more skilled in obfuscation than he was - a possibility he wasn't anywhere near arrogant enough to dismiss, considering he was literally in a library wizard school combination library and wizard school. Granted, this would imply that the perpetrator was either a teacher [technically possible, but given the limited number he knew of and their aptitudes the most likely candidate would be the Rune Weaver herself] or a student [which, honestly, seemed more likely - given what Grimaldi had told him about learning from Drow they had an affinity for such magicks].

A second, similar line of thinking, implied that the culprit would have to have some kind of wind-based magicks at their disposal, mixed with some light-manipulating magic. However, given the amount of control displayed when the book was taken out of his hands, it suggested a master of the art would have to do so. But why include that giggle...

The biggest clue he had, however, was how each of his bone spiders had become alert the second that mysterious giggle was heard. A feeling of... familiarity. How...

"...interesting," he mused. He could simply ignore the book and the odd phenomenon that took it from him... but to be perfectly honest, he was far too interested to walk away.

So he decided to humor whomever had wanted his attention and knelt down next to the book.

Why indeed I am young elfling! You will do so wonderfully here it's been 2 years since I've had a student from the High Cities!
They never disappoint!
She dropped Isil and moved to the side to welcome her into the class room, a modest little classroom with most of it's space taken up by flowers and work stations. There was notably no lecture space, and no chairs. But there were aprons and gloves freshly cleaned at every station, folded in a way a mother would for her children. The room smelt sweet, and the sun light it up in it's entirety. The windows were decorated in intricate spins of metal woven together into ornaments, obviously elven in make.

This room was for lack of better words, a bit too happy. The books were all reads on anatomy and wards, and colored crystals lined the walls on stands. It was indeed a restoration class, and felt just as welcoming as the woman that taught it. There was one more thing to note, a plate of fresh scones on a station corner towards the front of the room. "Welcome" was the only phrase on the card next to the hot plate.

Kyvir Lokerakir & Garuda Pacifier

@Conscripts@Spirit

Kyvir’s scrutinizing eyes fell upon the young Human that approached him, and his brow furrowed. The man wore a semi-formal suit, one that revealed a bit of physical definition on his chest, but was otherwise high-standard. He stood a bit shorter than the tiefling, although most did, and was a bit leaner, but appeared strong nonetheless. ’Perhaps…” Kyvir mused internally, before responding to the young man’s greetings.

With a nod of his head, Kyvir responded;

”Greetings to you as well my Lord.” His grating voice sounded, knowing from the metal in his collar that the boy before him was of noble standing.

”Seasa hab-lle.” He continued in his guttural native tongue, before translating.

”Pleasure to meet you.”

”It is my pleasure as well.” Garuda glanced at him shortly as he lightly inclined his head. His first impression, aside from noticing his strength, was he was also polite in return. Not exactly to the noble’s standards, but comparing to the typical Tieflings he imagined, a much more peaceful manner. And that was good for starter.

”My name is Garuda Pacifier”

”Amin Kyvir Lokerakir.” The tiefling responded, not bothering to translate.

”For your reputation, and for being here, you must be capable.” Garuda glanced him up and down. ”A bit strange that I did not sense your power on the orientation day...given that you are also in the first year.”

Kyvir nodded, acknowledging Garuda’s thinly veiled compliments as he took a few steps further into the room. Walking past the human as he surveyed the rooms interior, he added the room’s layout to his mental blueprint of the facility before speaking.

”Mine is not a Val to be noticed.” His corse accent switching to his native tongue and back, ”My Nosse Orn, ancestry, has a different kind of power.”

”Interesting…” Garuda muttered

”Your attendance must mean you are capable as well, yes?” He asked, the black orbs of his eyes falling back upon Garuda.

”Indeed I do… He said, pridefully and confidently, as a ball of white Natron momentarily materialized in his hand before vanishing. ”An esteemed to be warrior and defender of the Acity Empire, there is much I can show you. About the art of combat.” The subject soon shifted to battling, which is Garuda’s final intention: a rivalry. Hopefully, the Tiefling would catch onto that, in a way that did not portray Garuda as some sort of maniac.

The tiefling’s eyes narrowed as the human before him spoke, and had to bite his tongue to avoid laughing at the notion that this boy, Garuda, could teach him something about combat. He had been forced to fight to the death for his entire life, and he could tell by the look in his eyes that Garuda had never felt what it's like, tearing a soul from flesh.

”Perhaps you can, but I would caution you not to be so… forthcoming, in the future. He responded, having paused momentarily to determine which word of the common tongue best portrayed his meaning. ”After class, we can see what we can teach each other, yes?” The tiefling asked with an almost wicked smile, offering his hand to be shaken in agreement.

The statement has been taken. Just as he had expected.

His lips bit as a hint of amusement slipped his tongue. As expected of Tieflings, they were indeed creatures of harshness, having endured countless test of physicality and mentality. They had their experience, and pride. And there was nothing wrong with this kind of pride. Pride after all is the privilege of the strong.

”Yes.” Garuda gave a whole-hearted giggle, his tone glimmered with confidence and fearlessness. ”May we be able to find it.” The man took the hand of the Tiefling, as he shook it only once, but with a grip of a hundred men.

The room was rather low in the foyer of doors that lead to the individual teacher classrooms and quarters. Deep in a low dip that led to a door nearly hidden from view with a bridge over it to allow more space above. A few doors were like this, but upon entering the room it was quickly unique. The tiles of the floor were illuminated between the cracks by a green ominous glow, and the room had few desks arranged in a permiter of a large circle surrounded by runes on the floor, slightly inserted further into the floor with two small steps surrounding it. This circle was made of a different stone than the tile that floored the room, and the circle was surrounded by a blue glow that stretched beyond the floor to the ceiling.

As the two boys talked, a dignified tall man with silver hair and dark grey skin entered from a door in the back of the room choosing to let them talk as he silently arranged his potions on the long stretch of table that went from end to end in the far left side of the room. The opposite of it on the far right of the room were bookcases, filled with copies of the same tomes sorted into rows. Likely textbooks for the class on their lecture subjects. When they finished their sentences, the man spoke from the corner where they had failed to notice his entry as they spoke. "Rather early for the lecture aren't we?" The man said, his voice booming through the room and alerting them to his presence.

@MULTI_MEDIA_MAN@ReusableSword

"Ah, you may refer to me as Dolvin stonebrother." Dolvin's sight shifted to the Dark Elf that had made his way into the room. Immediately his eyes were drawn to the sword at his side as masterwork smiths do, and could tell that it was the work of a highly skilled Dark Elf smith. That used traditional... Dark techniques. The sword would have been precise, bloodthirsty, yet also collected and loyal to it's owner. Ready to cut anything at it's chosen wielder's command. It was a dangerous piece, that not just anyone would have. He thought to himself that this student was a strange one indeed. But the Arcanium have seen many in it's time, and plenty stranger than he; and so he let this little tid bit escape his thoughts.

Dolvin placed his hand on Garanin's shoulder, "No need to be tense brother. This man is the same as you, a guest here to our school. No need to hold onto the past." He turned his face to the Dark Elf and extended his blackened soot hand, "Good morning to you student. You seem to know my name, would you do me the kindness of giving me yours?" He moved closer to the dark elf to allow him reach of his hand. "A pleasure to meet you here today."

Vale Azsier

The Dark Elf didn’t seem to fit in to the look of the forge, the sharp yet elegant looks of both himself and his armor seemed to contrast the rugged, dirt, and colorful look of the room and its contents. The younger dwarf seemed to change his attitude at the sight of him, even his posture called out the weariness in his body language. Vale did not shift his attitude or body language in the slightest, for he knew he could easily over power them both if he needed too.

He turned to the older dwarf as he approached and watched as he attempted to calm the young dwarf’s uneasiness. Again he paused as he listened to the man before him address himself, “Vale Azsier, at your service” he smiled with the smile and look of a predator. Grasping the dwarf’s hand for a moment with a hand shake, his hand although smaller was not smooth like royalty but rough and callused like a well-trained soldier.

Letting go of the Dwarf’s hand and straightening his back he turned toward the other dwarf and nodded, “do not worry young dwarf, I am here to learn just as you are. I would not do anything to jeopardize my enrollment here.” Again he smiled before turning and moving back to the seats, he found one that was toward the back of the room and away from the entrances. Quietly and carefully the Dark Elf pulled a small note book with a small bottle and writing feather, here he would wait for the class to start. Vale had no intention on volunteering for any class work and would simply stay in the back and occasionally take notes as he watched.

Garanin Stonehewer

Garanin let out a short breath when Dolvin's hand came down on his shoulder. He was tenser than he wanted to be, and the elder dwarf was right, after all. They were all here to learn, regardless of their specific circumstances.

"Aye. Aye, yer right." He gave Vale a moment of appraisal before nodding. "It's good to meet ya, sir Azsier. You've my apologies for my...wariness. Have'nae met any Dark Elves for meself, and I let the stories get into my head I s'pose. I hope for both our sakes that this is the worst encounter we're to have." It was an odd apology, he supposed, but Garanin didn't much care. He was trying to be open with the other students here, at least open about how he saw them. To be totally frank, he wasn't sure what to think of this Vale Azsier. He carried himself with the weight of a true warrior, as opposed to that of a soldier.

It left him both intimidated and interested in this strange individual. After giving the elf a few moments to retreat, Garanin turned back to Dolvin and spoke. "It's been good to meet you, Dolvin. Any idea when Master Rovi will be around? I'd like teh ask him a few questions a'fore we get started."

Isabel had been taking note at the back of the room all along, witnessing her headmaster demonstrating her magic ability. She was quite surprised with what her Head Master had demonstrated there, weaving runes out of thin air. Her Head Mistress's origin also causes Isabel to ponder as where could her Head Mistress come from if not from nearby here? And her explanation about this "focus" thing was quite unfamiliar. Based on what her Head Master said then is it possible to turn someone into a 'focus'? And the thought of being able to do such thing hypnotize Isabel, urging her to find an answer to her question. Slowly raising her hands, Isabel asked with her cold tone while looking directly at her Head Mistress. "I have two questions, Miss. One may not very related to the course, but where exactly do you come from? And the second one is could you turn yourself or others as a 'focus'?"

~Your friendly neighborhood spoopy ghost~

As soon as Silias approached the book, the sprite - whatever it was - flit down the hallway for whatever reason. Was it an illusion? Or actually a creature of some sort. It was difficult to tell for one unlearned in such things. If it was an actual creature, perhaps it was simply shy? Whatever the reason, it was quickly out of Silia's grasp and disappeared down the hallway as swift as the wind itself. The book however, was still on the ground as mundane looking as it had been before and there was still a tangible chill in the air.

The reaction was almost instant as Silias knelt next to the book.

Without warning, a hand and an arm shot from the book, and grabbed Silias' neck before yanking him off balance towards the rgound. Hopefully the surprise and the force with which he was pulled would be enough to send him sprawling towards the ground. Regardless, the ghostly hand disappeared almost entirely afterwards, back into either the book or the ground - it was difficult to tell.

Silias wasn't honestly sure what he had expected to come of that, but it was safe to say nearly having his neck wrung by a spectral hand wasn't high on his list of "Things I Predicted To Happen This Morning." Unfortunately for whomever decided such a response was warranted, they only stoked his curiosity further.

And he had plenty of time before his class began.

The first thing he did was send out four of his bone spiders in the direction he saw the light retreating. While he figured he could try and chase after it on foot, it would be wiser to try and figure out which way it was going first. He rolled his neck, testing the joints and muscles for any sign of injuries. The fact that he could feel his extremities was a fantastic sign, but one can never be too sure when it comes to a neck injury.

He made a note to find a healer later. For now, he had to focus on following that light.

Before he could do anything else, Silias would feel something wet hit the top of his head. Before he had a chance to look up, a torrent of water fell from the ceiling, soaking the young mage's clothes...and the book he had been reading. It looked like he had been caught outside in a very bad storm without any sort of protection. The otters at the library weren't going to be too happy about that, now were they?

"Ah?~" There was a voice from behind him, who giggled in a fairly familiar fashion. If he so happened to turn around, he'd be greeted by a rather odd sight. A girl that couldn't have been standing barely older than seventeen years old, if her outer appearance was anything to go by. She was dressed in a fairly elaborate fashion, a frilled dress with purples, whites, and black, with long blond hair tied on either side of her head...and most notably was a tiny wisp of something floating just behind her, its head peeking over her shoulder as if trying to hide itself.

"Well, did you forget to take your clothes off in the bath or did an experiment go wrong?" She giggled, an impish, smug seeming smirk forming on her lips.

Silias considered the situation...and smiled. "Well... it's more like I had a light breakfast this morning." Taking a beat to regard the book, Silias picked it up by the spine and shook it gently from side to side. As he shook out the water from the unfortunate tome, he turned to the source of the voice. "I suppose I needed to whet my appetite further." He glanced at the wisp from behind his darkened lenses, recalling his bone spiders as he regarded the girl more closely. "So, enlighten me - what do I owe the pleasure? I rarely meet someone who laces up before lacing into people."

"Aha? Is dressing up this much that odd?" She asked. "I am Viola Rifei…and you are a new student here, yes?" She tilted her head slightly towards the small wisp of light currently hiding behind her shoulder. "Ah? Sheyan, no need to be scared of this little student. If he hurts you I'll just send Neiginshi to give him a hug." Whatever she meant by that she didn't entirely elaborate, though he could always ask if he was curious, of course.

"Afraid of..." Silias mentally went over past several minutes. "Oh, right, sending the bone spiders to follow him probably looked terrifying. Sorry about that. Truth be told, I was mostly curious about 'Sheyan' there, especially after being introduced to... 'Neiginshi,' was it?" He gestured to himself with a hand. "My name is Silias Aeson, and I am a new student of the Arcanium. Although... 'little?' I'm at least a head taller than you, and," here he gestured vaguely towards Viola, "unless you're hiding the ears of a High Elf under your frilly accessories, I'd say that I'm older than you."

"Oh?" She smirked. "The fact you think I'm a little girl proves just how inexperienced you are, little spider." She giggled. "Anyways, don't mind this little Sylph here. He's a timid sort usually doesn't let others see him unless he's helping me with something." A sylph? That little sprite was a Sylph? That might have explained how it managed to stay mostly invisible as well as move the book and move swiftly. It made sense, at least.

"And you haven't met Neiginshi yet. He's at home, probably sleeping in my fireplace. The Salamander's a bit on the lazy side. The water is from my dear friend Celine…a rather heh, salty, undine that lives near the coast here. She's probably going to yell at me for using her water in such an inappropriate way." Viola giggled again.

"Anyways…might want to dry off before heading to class, no? And remember little student...not everything is always as it seems, especially when dealing with magic. I have my own class to attend to…shame I can't play with you more at the moment. You're a level-headed sort…I was honestly expecting fear from all of this. I wonder what it would take to get you to scream, hm?" She mused to herself as an invisible tattoo seemed to light up on Viola's skin, shimmering with magic only briefly before there was a sudden gust of wind.

If Silias bothered to turn around, Viola would be standing some distance down the hallway on the other side of him. Had…she somehow teleported? Moved through him? There was a sudden chill in the air that accompanied it. Sheyan, the apparent Sylph seemed to wave bye to Silias before disappearing from view. Viola herself, took a sudden right and…moved right through a wall, disappearing herself?

Silias spent a moment contemplating Viola's point of exit. "Yet another mystery to document," he mused, not unpleased. "Though I already have my suspicions, it seems I will have to do some more research." Silias looked to the still somewhat damp book in his hand. "While her treatment of that book was... less than ideal, I may have a kindred spirit haunting these hallowed halls." He looked back towards where she had vanished and smiled. "What knowledge might you have to add to the Catacombs?"

He was about to go to class, but decided to heed Viola's advice and make a quick stop for drier clothes before making his way back to the Rune Weaver's room.

Isilfarrel Mornelis

Well, the room was nothing if not welcoming. It was a change of pace she had not been expecting - and it reminded her far too much of the High Cities. Isil was absolutely shocked by the lack of actual teaching space, though. How did...how did they teach, then? By Example? But why were their so many plants, aprons, and work gloves? She...she wasn't going to have to be planting those was she? Well, that in and of itself wasn't so bad. She in fact, liked raising plants - if anything, she preferred plants and animals to most people, but...how was planting things supposed to help her studies?

Of course, she then eyed the scones on the table and had to resist immediately walking over to them and gulping them down.

"Aha," Isil cleared her throat, grinning at the plump woman. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Mistress Liyva." She glanced around the room, glad to have been released by the woman. "I hope I can live up to your expectations." She moved into the room, taking a deep breath of the flowers. She wondered if there was a garden around here somewhere she could use to...meditate or relax in?

Silias Aeson

@Spirit

Now considerably drier than before, Silias entered the Rune Weaver's classroom without further mishaps. He had, after consulting the clock, managed to take several moments before class began in order to blot-dry the book that had been caught in Viola's crossfire. Or, given the nature of the incident, was the term for that cross-flood?

Bah. He could worry about the proper terminology later - he was here to learn about more than mere semantics. In any case, he had decided to leave that particular tome in his room for safe-keeping.

Considering the room for a moment, he decided to sit down near the middle section of the student area.

"Master Rovi will be in very soon. He was just making a few preparations for his classes." There was a slight shuffling behind a wall. "Ah, it seems he has returned. Just give him a moment. Eat, eat! He doesn't much care for food in the classroom." He slapped his fellow dwarf on the shoulder as he laughed before digging into his sandwich.

@Scarescrow

The Rune Weaver lost her focus and the sign dissolved in mid air. "Oh! I apologize youngling. I did not notice you enter the room." She stood gracefully and made her way to her new student and sat down so that she was speaking directly to her. "This question of making others into a focus... This is troubling. Very troubling. Making others into a conduit to enhance your own magic is," Her pause was concerned and pained at the thought, "Less than admirable. It is even considered by some as a taboo... But where I come from, this could also be a bond of love. A connection shared between two people so powerful that their life essence itself is bound only to the aid of their other." She rolled up her sleeves and her fingers glowed again. "Now, as for where I hail from." She drew a very skillfully yet swiftly drawn map in the air that was immediately recognized as the continent they were on, the world as they knew it. "Across the many seas, past the fog that cuts the ocean in two," She drew small lines to the right of the map, "Far to the east. My homeland." She drew another medium sized land mass that was rather round but had a few breaks in the shape with a few islands off it's coast. "This is where I hail from. The Continent of Jiayun. Roughly translating to Homeland. It's cut off from the rest of the world by a powerful illusion spell that's part of a seal, it makes those in the land to perceive the edge of the barrier as the edge of the World itself. Even the bravest of the brave do not dare to venture past this point."

@Rune_Alchemist

Her thought was actually well founded, out the window there was the south face of the school facing the cliff side overlooking the ocean. A large meadow of flowers and grass that rustled in the wind was immediately noticeable as untouched and peaceful. The teacher made her way over to her, "Oh my! I am so excited for the lessons this year. Today I'll be lecturing on what restoration magic truly is.
And as a bonus I'll be handing out a special present for all of you lovely students."
She walked around the room excitedly.

If there is one thing to say that is the most questionable about Isabel's Headmistress is her origin. What could the blue runes on her head mean? Could she use it without the runes that seem to be engraved on her head? But these questions must remain in Isabel's mind as she constantly writing down the name and Miss Lunilia's recently respond. The considered fact to be a taboo raised no surprise to her. Keeping her head down to focus on taking her note, Isabel underline “Continent of Jianyun" multiple time to make it more distinguishable. And then, Isabel looked at the map that her Head Mistress draw out from thin air. Unlike Miss Lunilia first time to activate the orb, there was no word spoken this time for the magic to be working. The only thing that Isabel could saw is the letter coming out from her white hand, circling and combining each other into an imagery that Isabel saw. And it made her more surprised to hear about another continent, where most people had never set foot upon. She had never heard a place where people used magic as daily tools. Just simply think of the progress they have made excited her, but also raised in her question about her Head Mistress’ backstory. “If the place seems to be so good, then why did Miss Lunilia came here?” Isabel wondered. And just like that, questions after questions keep growing at the back of Isabel's mind. But being a silence kid, who does not tend to talk, Isabel refused to ask her Headmistress straightforward. Instead, she planned to search in the Grand Library, where the sea of books may provide Isabel's desired answer. But now, it seems she must turn to the main purpose of this class. Looking straight at the mysterious woman, Isabel smiled and asked.

“Miss Lunilia, what is the purpose of this class?” Isabel halted, trying to find the right word before continue. “As the term ‘Magical Application' is quite broad for it can also be associated with Destructive Art, Enchanting, and Healing. So what is this class about? Or may I say in this class, what is ‘Magical Application' really mean?”
