To End the World


Welcome to my first RP Debut! I been meaning to sink my teeth into a card game esque RP. But if you’re like me and think, Yugioh to passé and that we need an entire new world and story. I completely agree with you.

Short form premise;

-A few teenagers are about to become the world’s salvation or the world’s annihilation. As the arena of competitive card games becomes popular, these individuals have come across something supernatural. [insert catchy Card Game Name suggestions would be cool] has been a game of cards played since the ancient times. Warriors of the World’s End once fought wars for their nations, faded into histories myths and legends. Until recently.

Several Teenagers in Japan, most of them familiar with the ever so popular card game who, either dream of being champions or have won small accolades in their time have come across ancient cards. These World End cards summon great warriors, but none of these cards exist in print. How they came across these cards is certainly a mystery? Maybe even a work of magic.

These Teenagers will soon have to make difficult decisions. Create strong friendships. Or strong enemies. As they fill in their roles as Warriors of World’s End.

How this work;


-I am going to make the duels sort of easier than say Yugioh. In short it will work a bit like Vanguard, you will always start with a card with 0 power in the beginning as your starter. At the start of your turn you can drop a card of higher power over the 0 power card, it will go 0-10, 10 being the strongest. Unlike Vanguard, the back rows will be support rows for spells and support cards. And there will be three other cards on the side of the card in the center known as Units.

How this works is the card in the center is your Leader. They will all have their own unique abilities that will get stronger and stronger. And the four empty rows beside your leader will be his or her Units. These Units abilities work in conjunction with the Leader.

I’ll work on a drawing on how the board will look and how the game will work a bit later when I am not running off to work.

-I am going to allow you to write me a brief description of your Leaders. And I will try and make a set of what you guys want. I will also allow you to request to me anything under the sun and make you a deck of 25 cards. Card deck limit is 30. So when you trade you can add 5 more cards.

-Like Yugioh, your teenager will have an alternative persona known as a Warrior of World's End. Think Yami Yugi or Yami Bakura. I will allow you guys to write up your own little history of them and give me a picture of them. Nothing too big. Now I am uncertain how you guys want to do this. Whether or not you want me to write you guys your own Warrior’s power or if you guys want to write your Warrior power. But you may provide your own appearance to your own Warrior.

-In Essence I love when members work with me. I have the premise. But I am more than willing to accept anything you guys want to create too. Have an idea for a card for your deck, go ahead and write me a card up and I’ll assign it and power and give it the go ahead.

-Since this is an Interest Check and Plotting. Please add any ideas you want to add. And feel free to discuss to me anything. I want this to feel like a fun world you guys help create and that your characters feel like they truly influence this world.

-I have a few more mechanics about the World of End cards. But I will discuss that once I get some interest up. And we hammer out some group plotting. And work on decks together.

Question, though. Are the Warriors of World's End supposed to be based on actual mythological figures and heroes, or just made up on the spot?

though I've never played Yu-Gi-Oh specifically, and I am really curious about how this works in a roleplay format.

To confirm is there one front row and one back row or are there multiple back rows? Also I'm guessing you have a hand on top of that?

Either way this has deeply aroused my curiousity.

The decks will actually be made by myself, but you will have a hand in their design. You will give me a theme and a common playstyle anf I will work with you to design a deck.

The Warrior's of World End aren't made up on the spot if we design them in the Interest Check and OCC, :P ;) They will be whatever you create them to be, BUT will have lore in the IC. I always give my members that freedom of creativity.

Aha well I suppose I probably wouldn't have posted at all if I didn't have any interest. Maybe I was playing hard to get? Anywho the idea is quite interesting, between what you have set for the mechanics so far as well as the game itself. I do like card games and am not playing in something like this at the moment, so consider me interested.

We’ll break it down into parts;

The Board




Goal - To defeat the other person’s leader to win. Other win conditions if they have no other cards to draw or to clear their board.

Basics

Leader - The Leader is your starting engine. It is the card that leads your units.

Units - Your leader’s army in an essence. They have cards that help each other, help the leader, or even work in conjunction with your utilities.

Utilities - Are spells, utilities, or traps. Which will be indicated on the card. Utilities give additional support to your Units, like giving them a shield or giving them an upgrade to their weapons. Spells are spells they activate magical effects written on the spellcard doing things your units cannot with their abilities. And Traps are cards set face down and sprung either at the end of your next turn or when something triggers them.

Deck - is where your deck goes

Grave - is where cards go when they are destroyed

Abyss - is where cards go when they are banished from the game.

How it all Works


Initiation Phase -

The Initiation Phase is the phase that determines who will be going first and who will be going second in the dual. Each player places down their leader card, starting at power 0. All Leader cards Evolve into higher powers, 10 being their highest limit.

Leader cards determine who will go first and second based on the abilities written on their card marked by their Determination ability.

Evolve Phase -

The Evolve Phase begins when the round starts. You only get 1 evolve phase and can choose to either Evolve your Leader or any Units on the field to their next level of power.

Summon Phase -

The Summon phase allows you to summon a Unit and activate its power upon summoning.
Utility Phase -

The utility phase allows you to play a utility card of any kind.

Final Phase -

The final phase is an optional step, often activated when a card goes off at the end of the phase.

There are 6 rounds in the game. 6 being the level of power your Units and Leader can have going from 0, to 1, to 3, to 5, to 9, and then finally 10 being the highest value of power.

To Break it Down


In a post your post will look like this;

Indicate the Round [1-6] depending on what round you are on. If you are the beginning player you will always be the turn of the Round.

So Player Going First passes Round 1 to Second Player who is on Round 1 when they pass First player is on Round 2.

Duels work with Abilities against Abilities. The Power Level determines the strength and level of these Abilities. So one Ability might banish a Unit for 2 rounds and then play it back on the field, while another ability may allow you to destroy someone else’s unit.

A unit may allow you to resurrect or resurrect a card from the grave. The goal is to either destroy the person’s leader or them to have nothing on the field to evolve.

You can have several different types of units, but only 1 Leader Type card. Indicated on the Unit of the Card.

The game will be based not on rolls, but how well you play smart with the cards given to you. This is why I want to help design decks for you guys that you can understand and you have some part in their understanding. That’s the strategy part. Duels will be done in co-post. We’ll figure out where, maybe on Discord or Google Docs. I can use both. It’s more what the other person is comfortable with, PMs also work.

Everyone; because my manager was so nice and told me to take the day off because I took over a few people's shift last week and died. I'm going to make basic Utility, Spell, and Trap cards.

We can further discuss your leaders and units. Because I like the idea that decks have themes. I'll also get a base character sheet up. Woo! This is exciting.

I'mma feelin' hyped for it! If we're throwing themes and style ideas around I was pondering the idea of having a defensive style deck based around golem like monsters mixed with item style enhancements or elemental magic (probably earth if we want to get specific... maybe throw some lightening in there...).
