Diana stood, contemplating what it was that made her want to keep talking to Yusuke. She wanted to distance herself from him, but at the same time, she was almost drawn to him in a weird unknown feeling type of way. Even how he looked at her, it made her feel...she didn't even know a word for it, she had only ever seen that look form one other person.
"I think you're...putting that responsibility...totally in the wrong...person, but i realize...maybe giving my advice...doesn't always help..." she managed a small monotone chuckle, before waiting for Yusuke to lead the way.
Yusuke managed a small smirk. There it was again, Diana was really humble. Even if she hadn’t realized it.
“I’m not, Diana.” he assured her, ignoring the near incessant vibrating in his hand.
“You really… you really prevented something bad for happening. That particular word may have seem melodramatic but it was the truth.
Terrible, ugly things occurred when he lost control. Things, that at one point in his life was natural.
He decided to slide his Uphone back in his pocket, much preferring her company over the nagging messages from his mom and the encouraging ones from his dad. Not to mention the hundreds, near thousands from fans, admirers, and other unknowns.
“Let’s go,” he said softly as he walked ahead, out the classroom, and down the long hall towards the stairs.
“To be frank, Diana. I’m happy Beyond the Barrier pulled me towards you. I was kinda thinking I wouldn’t make any meaningful connections here.” From a pair of girls, leaning on lockers they had just passed, Yusuke heard.
“Is that Diana walking with Yusuke-kun? Sheesh, should’ve known they’d mingle.”The others fell into hushed mumbles though their emotions betrayed them.
Yusuke smiled, only this one was hidden rather well behind his mask.
Diana followed him down the hall, a small tingle where her heart sat deep within her chest. She quite literally tapped on her chest, nonchalantly but noneless tapping her chest and clearing her throat a little
I...dont like this feeling at all...She put her hands behind her
"I wouldn't...rely on me but...if i can help...then i wont complain...and maybe beyond...the barrier, just...caught wind of my...charming good looks" straight faced, she looked up at him and winked, before falling back slightly as she changed her song.
She shrugged and glared at the girls who seemed to even be jealous of her? What?! She could not for the life of her wrap her head around any girl being jealous of her, it made her want to whole ass laugh, girls being jealous of her was a good joke. She looked at Yusuke slightly, as she was behind him, before walking up next to him again.
"Is it wrong...i like creating rumours...about you...people are already watching us...might get the wrong idea...thinking i actually like you..." she joked and slipped her hand between his arm and body, holding it lightly as if not wanting to hurt him.
"I'm gunna make the...best of this situation...give people something...to look at and...ruin you're player-esque persona?...sign me up..." at this point and time, Diana stopped thinking about what she was here for. Hell for the first time in years, she was thinking differently completely.
She lowered her voice is only he could hear
“you don’t have to...thank me for anything...I like when you’re...one, in a calm state...figured it would be in...the best interest of...everyone to keep you...level headed, and two,...can’t have you...getting expelled on the first...day“ she saw another group of girls glaring at her, making her press her body closer to Yusuke and staring back at them with a emotionless stare
”plus I can’t....have my only good acquaintance...expelled...”
Yusuke felt the itch to shy away from Diana’s hold but he didn’t. He found himself not
wanting to; a feeling he reserved only for his mother and father. The sensation bunched his brows together and yet he quickly evened them out, smiled, and said,
“If it were anyone else but you, It’d be a problem.”.
He straightened his stance from that slight hunch he usually walked with and near instantly obtained a princely posture.
“I would say there are just as many guys jealous of me as there are girls jealous of you right now. There… that little group of jocks over there hate me right now, they think I shouldn’t have such a beauty on my arm as a freshmen. Same with that weird kid at his locker. He’s feeling a very thick miasma of envy at the moment.” Yusuke chuckled lightly.
“He thinks you’re a snow pixie or something like that.”Yusuke, while he enjoyed the facade, hadn’t enjoy the pang of discomfort that was hiding in himself. There was something very unnatural about how quickly he was taking to Diana. As they reached the stairs, he tenderly pulled his arm from her grasp and started down them.
“It’s all fun and games until one of us gets a stalker. You’d be amaze how quickly envy or jealousy can descend to something dangerous.”
Diana smiled small ay his comments, making sure he wasn't looking at her at the very least. He probably could feel her...she wasnt even sure.
"Oh is that...the case? Excuse me...if i find it hard...to believe that you...wanna pick me over...someone like bird girl...in our class" she felt herself mentally fighting to start distancing herself from the boy. Her fathers voice seemingly coming from behind her
"You really think this is a good idea child? Have you seemingly forgot who and what you are? You think he enjoys that disgusting touch of yours? Get a grip, guys like him, dont like things like you" she could feel his laugh ripple through her body, mocking her.
Yusuke started talking, it seemingly finding her ears, through all the chaos going on in her head. She looked over to the jock group, looking away, she made i contact with the kid he was talking about. As they were passing, she stepped towards him quickly, making the kid jump and she laughed internally.
"Why are guys so....weird? Like...a snow pixie...what?" she completely had no idea people even looked at her in ANY certain why, let alone being jealous of Yusuke for her hold his arm. Guess the dead eyes dont work as well as her sister said.
She followed him down the stairs
"Is this from personal...experience? How does...the great Yusuke deal...with his dreaded stalker" out of the corner of her eye at the top of the stairs, two girls pulled out their phones and snapped pictures of the two walking down together. This was popularity huh? She looked at the back of Yusuke's head as they made their way to the bottom
"Does it ever get...to be to much Yusuke?...Being you i mean...this is my first experience...being on the more positive...side of "popularity"...it seems invasive almost..." she had feeling he would hold up his facade of a pretty boy, but that had to wear on him even too.
Yusuke eyed her with care as if too hard of a glance or too sharp of a glare would drive her away never to be seen again. He tugged on his surgical mask, letting it drop below his chin. One part of his mind was observing and analyzing the surge of helplessness that had stained her otherwise confused outlook. The other was focused, simultaneously, on the now.
One day he would come to know just how amazing that gift of his was.
The boy touched his hair, ruffling the top while taking the stairs with just as much care as he had held Diana’s gaze.
“Who knows,” he said.
“Dudes can be weird. But I think girls are weird too. I mean just think about what you said; the thing about me picking Raven over you.” He smiled then and started taking the stairs two-steps at a time. Seemingly concentrating on his footing but really avoiding Diana’s reaction to his next words.
“I don’t think that’d be so weird. I like you, Diana and I barely know her, it's natural that I’d gravitate towards you.” Yusuke reached the bottom of the stairs, where the bulk of the students were heading out. A mass of gray uniforms, red ties, and odd shapes were blended with U.A.’s expensive interior. Yusuke smoothly pulled up his surgical mask in the midst of all the potential germs.
“From your point of view you’ve never been on the positive side. But people look at reality through different lens. What you consider negative, other will see as mysterious, enticing, and exotic. Believe me, you’re a delicacy to the masses.” He adjusted the strap of his bookbag on his shoulder.
“Annnnd, it can get frustrating. I’ve never liked the cameras but my mom’s pretty adamant about them. She thinks my Quirk is something… more. I don’t know and I don’t get it but sometimes I catch glimpses of her plans through her mind. I think she holds me on a pedestal.” he said casually while walking with the crowd.
Diana hurried after him, not wanting to be swept in the crowd of students around the bottom floor. Many first and second years moved out of her way, catching a glare or two from her. Catching up with Yusuke, she grabbed the back of his shirt, almost like an owner holding a leash
"To...many...people..." she grabbed Yusuke's hand and fell foward into a shadow, appearing farther away from the chaos that was the end of the day.
She breathed out all the stress that was that crowd of people and looked at her hand, letting go and punching Yusuke on the arm
"That...is for almost leaving me...and this" she punched him on the other arm
"Is for thinking...you can say those...types of things...and get away...with it" she hit him playfully once more before, turning on her heels and moving towards the dorms
"Move it pretty boy...time is money..." she put her right hand in the air, and rubbed her finger tips together.
Yusuke fell into that terrifying place where nothing made sense. Where nothing could be measured by anyone but it's natural-born denizens. It was there where his sight, taste, hearing, sense of feel - all of it - was reduced to only his imagination.
Then he was staring off at the wide space of the dormitory.
His breathing was caught in his throat, alongside his place in reality.
Through his psionic skin, which reverberated like a dense drum, he could feel Diana’s playful punches. It brought him back to normality. He looked over at her pale hand, her fingers rubbing together to accentuate her words. Yusuke smiled and placed some hidden pep in his step to catch up with her. Once he did, while they walked, he bent at the waist and for a moment let his head fall next to hers.
“I just want you to see yourself the way others see you, Diana.” he told her while moving ahead to open the door to the dorms for her.
Diana couldn't help but feel this positive energy from Yusuke, from being in such a depressing state of mind, this feeling was almost...intoxicating. She walked towards the doors, walking past Yusuke, she grabbed his sleeve and pulled him into the dorms. Moving past people who gave glances, she pulled him into a dead end hall-way.
"I do not understand...what my feelings are...I should not be...getting close with you...Yusuke, do you under...stand who my father...is? Or what...he'd do if.......I cannot endanger you...or anyone for that matter...do you understand...why i cannot...accept any concept of what...they see me as...I am here...for one re..." she hesitated, her body shaking, before she hugged him awkwardly. Only for a few seconds, it felt like an eternity to Diana, someone who had never even hugged someone other then her sister. She quickly pushed him away and fell back into her own shadow.
She reappeared and leaned against the wall, she had done more jumping then she had in a while, it was starting to ware on her mind.
What in the fuck?....what?! Diana you...FUCKIN what?!... she screamed at herself in her mind, as she walked towards her room. It was like she was in a trance, entrapped by what he was providing her, a way out of sorts from her actual life. She hated men, but Yusuke just crossed so many barriers, it hurt Diana to even think about what the in the hell today even was. None of this was what she thought it was going to be and the persona she so hardly desired to show, was absolutely smashed by a surgical mask wearing pretty boy...her life was a god damn anime...
She hadn't read that who she'd be sharing a room.
Diana if you want a quiet room...you will be nice...make this part of...your life, easy...stress free... she hardly imagined it would had been Raven, so when she opened the door to see the winged girl who smashed her desk from before, she stepped back alarmed. She stood straight up and sighed, slamming her fist her hand, straight faced
"This day...is going to...kill me" she walked into the room and claimed the other bed, putting her backpack on the it and turning, she extended her hand
"I am sorry...for being alarmed...alot has happened today...also yes...this is my regular tone...dont mind it though...Diana Ravencroft, I hope you...are okay with...snack foods..." behind her, her backpack spelled open with bags of snacks spilling all over her bed.
