@ArenaSnow Could be worse. I have seen things in the 1x1 section. Things I can't unsee no matter what. I don't care if that's what they want to RP. By all means, go ahead if that's what you want, but I always wonder what went through their mind to think of such a plot or an idea.

Did I miss somebody venting an annoyance in a venting your annoyances thread and getting criticized for it?

O the topic of roleplaying annoyances, when an rp becomes nothing but collabs. That can be annoying.

I don't get some people. They come into RPs with shit CS and edgy mary groo sury sroo whatever the fuck you guys call em characters and when you decline their applications they get all offended and make a scene. I mean, bitch if you can't handle criticism and can't construct an acceptable CS then get off my fucking RP.

-Chuckles- The human mind is a strange and scary place when it needs to be. I have had a few scarring 1v1 reads myself.

Also here is another situation I would like to vent. I don't face it with my current roster of RPers (I love em) but once I had an applicant who entered my rp when it was already about 2 years and going strong (pre guild fall). And this dude just randomly one day decides to change about three critical plot lores just because he found the idea boring. And there I am thinking, "Did you just change the back lore that was set up since day one..... Cause you found it boring?"

Intrest checks where the GM has no idea what they are going to do. Something like... I kinda want to do a _______ RP. The plot and setting will be up to the players.

Seriously, come on now. What is scary about any of those things.
It's like saying that you get scared during horror movies or Saw movies. Yeah okay they might be disgusting but scared of it?
And generally, the worst and most disgusting kind of plots are made in some form of dark satire....or to beat off to it but that's besides the point. It's all done in good fun.

Rejecting someone because a core group of players are not compatible is not a bad thing. A individual who will cause more people to opt out of a concept or cause friction among them is a textbook problematic player and it should not be a taboo to reject them. This isn’t something I’ve had to deal with in GMing, but others I know, and I find it kind of absurd that someone would assert that they should be allowed to be given a chance despite several accepted players already feeling uncomfortable and debating opting out if their acceptance is greenlit. At a certain point you need to, as a GM, wage the pros and cons in that situation, and ask themselves “is this person worth the possibility of derailing my role-play?”. It is a good bias to have to void acceptance of someone if you are going to lose your committed player pool.

Do not accept problematic, toxic, or otherwise conflictive players. Especially if your current pool shares a majority of opinion of them not being compatible. Protect your committed players if it is actually a problem.

You can find problems with just about anyone's writing ability. Even the rare ones that actually try to write something compelling to read and at least try to fix your mistakes before posting it. The most useful ability other players can have is taking constructive criticism AND actually doing something about their mistakes.

So many people can't even do that, and I have a feeling at least one person in these 177 pages has been critical about someone's writing ability yet, put absolutely no added effort in their own posts. Spellcheck your work. Cut out repeated words and sentences that add nothing to the post. You're suppose to be making your writing actually interesting to read...have something, anything dramatic happen in your post. (An argument, a fight scene. Whatever actually builds plot or character.) Don't just explain how a character feels, or purple prose about a landscape and exposition dump. Make your post engaging or build up to something interesting. Making long wordy posts that are slog to read doesn't make it any better than someone merely posting a few concise paragraphs.

And I could go on about GM'ing, but that's it's own separate issue...

@Inkarnate Yeah, I'm aware. :P (But rarely is someone's biggest problem, not writing enough good material.)

But I'd also personally rather read a good one or two paragraph post, especially during 1x1's where brevity is sometimes required for quick interactions. Instead of thousands of words where nothing- fricking- happens. But everyone has their personal grievances.

@Odin If it helps, I was going to point out people bitching about others personal grievances, is some of the most petty goddamn shit I've ever seen. Then I was going to post a gag clip, (spiderman 3 how it should of ended, with the line "You don't understand, I'm sick, that makes it okay to break the law.") to point out the semi-irony of calling out someone else's calling out. While playfully defending being sick for my moodiness. But deleted it figuring, if someone really wanted to, they would be bound to bitch at me and prove my banner meme will never die...

So I mean, I've never said someone can't point out spelling errors in my (actual roleplaying posts) or give me advice/critique. But some people are too piss drunkenly stupid to not know the difference with text speech and writing. No one -needs- to read my bitching about writing. No one cares about text speech in casual chats or conversation. You want to point out my writing flaws that badly? Go through my own goddamn writing on my roleplays and tell me what I could do better. PM me every single thing you could possibly find. And if you find an actual problem. I WILL fix it and even thank you for it. Even if the things are outright dead, just to prove a goddamn point. If you don't know the difference, learn it fast or stop bitching like you're being personally attacked for my statement.

Edit: How is it hypocritical to say, everyone is flawed and plead for people to take constructive criticism and fix their roleplaying posts to make the experience better for the readers that need to read to know what's going on? Please, point out flaws with these paragraphs that I wouldn't even need to make if I wasn't responding to your own ludicrous personal whining against my general statement...
