Alpha Earth, Ethereal Court of the UUC
The Court of the Ethereals hovered silently over the calm ocean. Its Egyptian Needle structure pierced the heavens above and was a clear monument to the United Universal Council and all that they had achieved in the two millennia that they had resided over.
Hundreds of ships and vessels entered and left the Court via its vast number of docking stations. This was where all dimensional legalisation and hearings were dealt with, and so must be able to hold thousands of sessions a day. But only the most serious of cases were dealt with personally by the Ethereals themselves.
“Court session is now in progress. Case 79-81Z.” a toneless male voice called out in the Great Chamber. “The case of Vas’gard d. Lemner versus the United Universal Council on the grounds of knowingly attempting to disrupt the Reality Field of Alpha Earth in attempt to allow rebel forces to use illegal magics. Residing the case of this grave matter are the Seven.” The voice continued.
As one may have figured. The Grand Chamber was a large, pale room in which seven podiums stood to the ceiling, looking down onto a lone human male standing on an isolated disc that floated above the ground.
“How do you plead?”
The man on the disc simply smiled, his gaze scanning each of the podiums above. On them - a glass box in which shapeless entities floated. Though he couldn’t see any eyes, he knew that he was being looked down upon.
“You Ethereals!” Vas’gard cried out with a sense of amusement. “Believe yourselves above everyone else, every other creature in existence. Pretending to be to be the protectors of a reality that isn’t even your own! I want to know how you plead on the charge of indoctrinating the people for your own purposes!” he continued.
There was a moment of silence, Vas’gard wondered if he had spoken at all. But then they answered.
“We are the custodians of this dimension.” A layered voice said, it spoke as if several voices were spoken at the same time. “It was our minds which created the Reality Fields that keep total anhelation at bay.” The Ethereal’s voice spoke without any emotion.
“By enslaving and denying the power of the strong so none may oppose you?” Vas’gard spoke, his voice sly.
“Our position here in earned and respected. Should those who we benefit no longer want our guidance and protection, ten all they have to do is but ask. But doing so would put them at great risk.”
Vas’gard’s hands tightened.
“I’ve had enough!” Vas’gard bellowed and lunged his hand towards the podiums. Blue energy shot from his hand. However, the energy turned to ask as it left his hand.
“What is this?!” He demanded, panic stretching across his face.
“As we have said before… we are the custodians of this dimension. Our power is beyond that what you could possibly imagine.” The Ethereal said as the central cloud of dust and energy that sparked descended from its podium and began to form into a humanoid shape.
“Now… prepare for your sentencing…”
