‘Oh, and two more tiny things that slipped my mind,’ the woman says. ‘I did say the bigger birds don’t care about humans, buuut… Fletchinders do blaze down fire to scare out their prey. And that fire… sticks around a while. It doesn’t tend to spread, or these plains would have been a wasteland, but they form roadblocks. Careful of random fires out there!’

‘And, Staraptors. They don’t care about YOU, but if any of your Pokémon looks strong enough to be a challenge, they might swoop in and attack it. This only tends to become a problem when you get strong enough to fight your way through Route 6, but I should warn you nonetheless.’ So she says. Then, in reaction to being denied.

‘Aw, well,’ she grinned about it. ‘If the plains turn out more than you can handle, we’ll be here! Good luck out there~!’

And with that, they were free to go.

While there were Ponytas young enough to need to chase after their parents, at some age parent and child separate and there’s plenty of Ponytas just roaming around, feeding off the grass of the plains, running around and just being wild Pokémon, no Rapidash in immediate vicinity. They formed small groups, as horses do, but some do get separated, possibly when they had to run from some Tauros or Pyroars. If Dawkin wants to, he can find one.

The immediate area is relatively safe, mostly because all the Tauros are being knocked out by that trainer’s Pokémon over there, but there ARE Bouffalants and Dodrios standing or running about here and there, watching their surroundings. Fletchlings are harder to see, because they’re smaller in the grass despite still having territories, but they’re rather pretty song is audible if you get close, which should be a sign of you’re probably close to being attacked by a bird.

Martin Price

Martin wasn't taking the fact he had to leave The Vast Underground so quickly, but that could wait. He'd expected a Teleport to take him to the last city visited, but where was he? This did not look like Lakewatch Town. Actually, he was here before. Not from Pureplain, but on his way from Goldshire. He was in Worldedge. This immediately made him come to a few conclusions. The lady didn't make any stops from here to where was, he previously was. Martin's plans have been tossed out the window. "There goes my plan to look into the Endless Forest."

It took Martin a few minutes of looking around to figure out where in this city he was. The place had layers, and he didn't actually look at this place before. Machines were cranking out smoke, and the place had a heavy industrial feel to it. Seemed sketchy enough for Team Virtue to use as a stop. At least he wasn't in a cave, and could use the Pokecenter here. This place was famous for many reasons, and Martin suddenly had a lot of time. If he trained up a bit, he could eventually make it back to the cave and teach them a lesson. That, and check out the Pokemon in this area. He paid for tips on a different area, and was now back to lost again.

Stuck in one of the largest, if not the largest, city possible. He needed more than a moment to fully understand what happened. Martin gave a small laugh thinking about how he must be the first trainer to have gotten this far. He had to go back if he wanted the gyms, and forward would be a lot harder. What a situation to be put in. All Martin could do for now was take a deep breath and go with the flow. Someone would have a good idea of where to take his trip from here.

Then Martin remembered Trubbish, calling him out of the Pokeball. "Sorry to call you back Trubbish. The good news is we made it outside. The bad news, is we are now in Worldedge City. I did make you a promise though. You are free to go if you choose."

Action: Find and use the local Pokecenter to heal up.
Release/Keep Trubbsh (Depending on response.)
Talk to locals for information.

Dawkin Trustram

Dawkin looked at Amelia quizzically for a moment, as though trying to read how she felt. "Yeah, I'll try to keep us out of trouble. Let's get going." Dawkin said to her. He would've liked to take the chance to catch a Pontya here and now but... His focus was on helping Amelia. He wasn't quite sure but something seemed off about her so he'd do his best to simply make sure the two of them got through without much trouble. After all, he could always come back and catch a Ponyta later. For now the two of them would attempt to make their way through the plains keeping the advice they had just received in mind. Watch out for fire, don't get too close to anything, run in zigzags and split up. Simple enough.

Action: Hurry along through route 6

Amelia followed Dawkin along as they moved through the route. She kept rather close to him and unlike the last routes or the town before, she seemed less certain of things. Her heart was constantly on her mind and it made her a bit less aware of her surroundings as a result, hence why she was sticking so close to Dawkin. If something went wrong, she might simply run into him and stop or if she moved past him, he could stop her easily.

As they moved along the route, she started to notice that Dawkin seemed to have an interest in the Ponyta that were running everywhere. Realizing he might want to catch one, she decided to speak up.
"You know... if you're thinking of catching a Ponyta, you can. I don't mind. But doing so through battle might be risky with the more violent pokemon here." She said. "Maybe you should just try to befriend one. If only we had some berries or something to feed them."

Claire hurried along, following after Anise easily through the streets of Rainrock. She wanted to stick around longer and enjoy the sights more, but she couldn't get lazy just because she was in a new city! There'd be time for sight seeing later after she got herself a new friend. Even so, the sights she did see were amazing. The rock bridge was particularly awe inspiring. It even made her want to just find a nice place to sit and listen to the rain splatter against the ground.

Of course, she'd probably only do it for about a minute before she got impatient.

As soon as they stepped onto route three, Claire handed the umbrella to Ralia who was sitting on her shoulders in her usual perch. The small psychic type struggled with the larger object for a second, but managed to succeed by leaning the handle slightly onto Claire's head. Now that she had the umbrella though, she couldn't help but to mess with both Anise and Claire a little. Ralia began spinning the umbrella, causing the excess water to be flung off of it like a fan, notably splashing all over Anise until the ninja girl did something herself or until Claire finally noticed.

Other than that though, nothing major happened along the route, though Clarie did take note of Bellsprout and Shroomish. Didn't shroomish evolve into a fighting type? Ah, she might have tried going for it if she didn't want to have another pokemon that could reasonably handle a fire type.

Once they arrived in route four, Claire folded up the umbrella and shoved it in her bag. The forest had a pleasant air about it, a far cry from the creepy atmosphere of the Infested woods from earlier. For the most part Claire hurried through in her usual fashion.

"Onwards to Mt. Strength my dear Anise!" Claire said with an energetic grin, excitedly bouncing in place. "I wanna wrestle something already!" This earned a small eye roll from Ralia, who simply pat Claire on the head with her usual smile.

"Hm? Oh I was admiring their manes. Even the ponyta's have a quite amazing coloration in their manes and the differences are interesting as well. I don't intend on catching one at the moment though, not to worry." Dawkin said confidently with a endearing smile. Mostly true. "We'll just focus on getting through the plains without running into anything if that's alright." He assumed the thing worrying her was simply the fact that the plains were somewhat dangerous and they would have to be careful going through them. And why she was sticking so close to him.

Erika yelped in surprise as Inkay forced itself away, falling onto her back as she was nearly hit by whatever that attack was. She felt a touch irratated that no one (until now) had warned her about the possible uprising that a recently thawed Pokemon would have. "Okay, fine!" Erika stammered as she got to her feet. "Chic! Use Ember and bring that Inkay back down here!" Erika's thinking was that since Inkay seemed like the Physic type, it might be more effective to use physical attacks instead of Chic's ember. Of course this was just a thought that Erika considered and may not exactly be right. Regardless her strategy was to hit Inkay with Ember and if the opposing Pokemon ever fell down into Chic's level, she'd try to use Scratch. Hopefully Chic could take on the Inkay.

First healing at the Pokémon Center. Here also lounged a few individuals, typically of the slightly older kind. The average trainer don’t have much reason to go down to the Industrial District. He probably could get information from them, but first, healing.

Then, he called out Trubbish outside. The Trash Bag Pokémon looked around as it came out, inspecting left and right, noting how it was in a city. Martin and any nearby passerbyers would immediately feel the stench from the Pokémon, other humans frowning at the obvious cause before walking on. Trubbish turned and looked up at Martin while he spoke to it, taking a moment.

Trubbish took a few moments. It looked away, towards the factories over there, towards the buildings. There was the definite smell of trash to the Pokémon, which promised an environment it could thrive in. It then looked back to Martin, looking up at him, considering. Eventually, Trubbish came to a decision.

Then, looking to get information, Martin would quickly find that Worldedge residents are very happy to talk about Worldedge, and not much else.

‘Huh. Trainer down here, huh. Well, unless you work down here, there’s not much to do down here. Suppose some of the factories are abandoned and have a few poison-types or ghosts, potentially. Mt. Edge draws Psychic Pokémon to it… which is why you see them around town. In the mountain itself, they’re more numerous and far tougher, heh.’
‘The Gym Leader here’s both a powerful Major League Gym Leader and the protector of Mt. Edge… But why does Mt. Edge need a protector? Is there something inside that needs to be guarded? Are we being guarded from something within? Huh? Eh, guess that’s not important to me.’
‘Abras are so convenient! We can teleport anywhere in Worldedge City instantly for just a little fee! Teleport systems using them should be implemented all around the world! Nevermind all the activists that don’t want to use Pokémon like that or the sceptics who fear the side-effects of teleportation, it’s for the betterment of mankind!’
‘Worldedge City is divided into districts. This here is the Industrial District, where all the production is being done! Above us is the Information District, where all you could ever want to learn can be found! Above that is the Mystical District, which has the Gym and Stadium for amazing Pokémon battles! Then, on the other side of the mountain are the Residential, Commercial and Entertainment Districts, which I think speak for themselves~!’
‘Careful. Of everywhere in Worldedge City, the Industrial District has the most dark corners where bad people might hide. Sure, it’s nowhere as bad as in Bigfjord, but careful. Sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong might be dangerous.’
‘Many amazing individuals have houses here. The Champion’s villa lies in the Residential District, and Professor Dunstan, researcher of lore and legendary, lives in the Information District. … But the Champion’s never home, and Dunstan’s often at his lab in Raremine Town, closer to his work. Why can’t they stick around…? We’re left with the likes of the terrifying Crone and the insane inventor Russel…’

He had to find another trainer to talk about the outside, and he eventually found some people.

‘Hm? A young person like you? Well. If you need to ask, then I suppose you’re looking for Minor League Gyms. Freecape Town has one, and Raremine Town too has one further south, and if you cross the Mountain Valley to Stillwood Village, there should be one there, too. Of course, if you go east and then north to Gentlevale City or straight east to Witchpeak City, they have Minor Gyms, too, but I’d start in the south.’
‘Where to go next? Pteh, as long as you don’t go to Bigfjord City, you’re fine. Don’t need to go there until you need to challenge the Major League Gym, and when that’s done, get out of there as quickly as possible. All the routes on the Southern landmass barr Route 6 are relatively safe. Caves, certain buildings and forests less so, but the Routes at least. You’ll be fine.’
‘Why not see the sights? The Power Station up north-west is excellent if you’re lacking in Steel or Electric types, Play Park of north-east houses many rare Pokémon from all over, and then there’s plenty of heavy-hitting Fighting or Rock-types in Mt. Strength and Flying-Pokémon the southern Mountain Valley. Plenty of places to find strong Pokémon. Of course, Mt. Edge is thee place for Psychic-types, heh.’

That should do unless Martin’s going to ask about more specific things.

Connected areas:
Route 10. South of Worldedge. A farmland employing multiple psychic Pokémon from Mt. Edge to help with the crops.
Route 13. West of Worldedge. A slightly disturbed route, which attracts electric Pokémon due to the proximity of the power plant.
Mt. Edge. The mystical mountain at the heart of Worldedge’s unnatural existence. Few people actually cross its fabled tunnels, most just teleport past.
Route 18. East of Worldedge. A calm stretch of land going from Worldedge to Witchpeak, part of the Allmass Cycling Circuit.

Dawkin and Amelia made their way onto the plains. A lack of Tauros made the first path easy. There were multiple times when Doduo or Ponyta dashed past, but they could be ignored. There were Bouffalants and Dodrios, but they could be avoided. As the woman had said, there were patches of grass that were on fire, but this was a plain with three families of fire-Pokémon, it couldn’t be that unexpected. They could stay clear of those. Knowing that Litleo’s would challenge them if they felt like it, they probably avoided those, too. For a while, it was going well. They left the Rapidash Delivery Service and the trainer battling Tauros behind, and kept on moving. A few Rapidash dashed by on a distance, and the two could realize they had riders. Evidently, the service before wasn’t one-way.

As they made their way past a couple Miltanks avoiding a Bouffalant, there was a Dodrio standing with three bored-looking heads in the distance. Wasn’t much to it from that, they could just readjust their heading to go in-between the Bouffalant and the Dodrio, avoiding both, hopefully. Or maybe they took the long way around, it doesn’t entirely matter for this scenario. One of the Dodrio heads looked in their direction when they appeared on a distance, but that was it. So, they moved on, and the Dodrio moved, running down a hill out of sight.

… Then it appeared in front of them. There was a line of fire that they had to avoid to the left, and there stood Dodrio again. They had to move around, following the advice the woman had given, but then the Dodrio ran and placed himself next to a Bouffalant, making the obstacle the one Bouffalant would have been twice as big at it otherwise would have been, making the detours the two had to take that much bigger. If they then walked around that, he’d run and place himself inconspicuously in the middle of nowhere… but upon getting closer it became immediately clear he was blocking a free path to get through a couple of patches of Fletchling territories.

It was like he knew he had a supposed “don’t go closer than this long to him” area, and he was relocating just to make life a pain for them. The Pokédex had given a note that they were somewhat smart, albeit only when all three heads were cooperating. Though two heads seemed to very much intentionally avoid looking at them, like playing it off as a coincidence, at least one of the heads sneered in amusement at them numerous times.

The area around them were still full of Pokémon. Miltanks were eating and didn’t care particularly. Two Pyroars were sitting on a hill a distance back-left, and was looking on, but they didn’t look terribly interested. They had a couple Litleos with them, but they were playing with each other and was not as attentive as the parents. Patches of Fletchlings around, a Bouffalant that was glaring at the Dodrio that had walked fairly close to his territory but ultimately not into it. Doduos and Ponytas were a bit of everywhere, as were flocks of flying noisy Starlys.

That aside. What would Dawkin and Amelia do here?

Anise probably got her own umbrella, because it’d be silly to go onto routes it always rains on without one. Still, the rain of course reminded her of her worries, so she was frowning most of the way, but that was fine… until Ralia started using the umbrella to splash water on her.

‘Hey!’ Anise made an objection while shielding herself with her own umbrella, before folding the umbrella… only to rapidly pop it open and splash the water on it back at Ralia, and by extension Claire. ‘There you go,’ Anise nodded with determination, the expression of someone who won’t take something without giving the same back. … Aaaand if Claire or Ralia gave any indication of immediate retaliation she’d take off fleeing for Route 4, where it’d stop raining. Anise is pretty physically fit, who of them might be the faster?

Anyways, after that.

Heading up the forest hill towards Mt. Strength. The mountain-range rises above, but after a small cliff the entrance can be found fairly close to the base. The arc of rock is carved-out, someone has put effort stylizing the entrance, which is wide enough that a truck could potentially drive through. With the stories of the wild caves of Mt. Strength going around, one could probably expect to be delving into caverns of absolute chaos and roughness. Yet as one descends into the cave and it opens up in its whole honesty, the ground beneath becomes… cobblestone.

‘I-inkay-!’ The flying squid got a faceful of Ember as Chic shot at it, the revolving Pokémon spinning around a couple of times from the impact, but didn’t fall. However, in response, Inkay turned and stared directly at Chic, before vanishing.

A short moment later, a dark projectile flew through the air and impacted Chic, and she could feel that somehow her own strength was being used to strike at her, as Foul Play does. Her attack’s higher than her own defense, plus the dark projectile hit REALLY hard, around two-thirds of her health was taken from that attack alone. However, after that hit, Inkay floated right in front of Chic blinking a little in surprise. Like Inkay itself was confused that after it had used itself as a projectile it was now this close to its opponent. Chic Scratched.

‘Kaaaaay-!’ Inkay shouted out again, spinning laterally from the scratch, and was now considerably damaged. It was roughly the same level as Chic, so now they both were around two-thirds damaged. Foul Play just did way more damage than Ember or Scratch separately. Though, with this, Inkay looked like it was preparing for another Foul Play…

Erika throws a Pokéball! Inkay blinks as it's hit by the ball, vanishing into it and the ball drops down onto the frozen floor.

It shakes once. It shakes twice...

Martin's journey continued to get better and better. The city was huge, and finding the Pokemon Center was a welcome sight, after missing one for so long. It was comforting to see a nurse, and knowing his team was healthy again. He gave a grateful wave as he stepped out.

Martin gave as neutral of a choice to Trubbish. Even though the Pokemon chose to be free, it wasn't a sad moment. Martin was happy to see Trubbish enjoying the new enviroment. At least he got a free Great Ball from it. Just means he'll go look for a Poison type the normal way, earning it in battle.

Traveling through the town, Martin talked to a lot of people he found, each of them with different opinions and a few helpful hints. The mention of Raremine and Freecape reminded Martin that he was going to be backtracking to get to where he planned on going. Since he was already in Worldedge, he might as well take a better look around the place. For one thing, the Teleport took him to the Industrial District, which says a bit about Team Virtue. Seeing as Trubbish was so happy to be here, Martin had a good feeling there were more Poison types down here. Just like Goldshore, almost like home. He just needed to look a bit harder.

Action: Search for wild Pokemon.

Dawkin Trustram

Dawkin let out a growl of frustration at the three headed bird that had managed to position itself in the exact spot they wanted to go through. They had managed to avoid everything else without trouble so far but it seemed this dumb bird was going out of its way to be troublesome. Dawkin glared at it as he considered what to do. He'd rather not get into a fight with it if at all possible. Firstly it was an evolved Pokemon, secondly fighting could draw more Pokemon to them, and thirdly it seemed to be just what the darn thing wanted. "Looks like we're out of easy options. I'd rather not fight this Dodrio but we're going to have to think of something. If we end up avoiding it to fight through another way I suspect it might follow us and stir up more trouble. I have a repel on hand if you don't have any other ideas for how to deal with it." Dawkin said calmly. He'd still have 1 repel left and could stock up at the next town without much trouble so he wasn't very worried about it, but he was also conservative by nature, if he could get away with saving it for later he would.

Amelia frowned at the Dodrio in front of them. It was obvious the tri-headed bird was purposely getting in their way. Examining the pokemon closely, she was quick to see that one head was acting differently from the other two. When Dawkin spoke though, she turned her attention to him as he voiced his own thoughts. Turning back to the Dotrio, she was silent for a few seconds before speaking.
"Let me try something first." She whispered to him before taking a couple of steps towards the bird and speaking so it could hear. "You're having a lot of fun messing with us, aren't you Dotrio? I have to admit, it is a rather clever plan, trying to get us to go where we don't want to. It's definitely making things very interesting. But which of you three thought of this plan? If I had to guess..." She paused for dramatic effect before pointing to the head that had been looking rather smug. "You're the one who thought of it. I guess that makes you the superior head, does it not?"

Honestly, Claire wasn't expecting much from the mountain. The standard fare of zubats, dirt, and a fighting type or two. That was pretty much what they all were, after all. What she wasn't expecting was the sprawling cityscape that was presented to her. To say the redhead was momentarily awestruck by the ancient place was an understatement. Not to mention, seeing the fighting pokemon was getting her own fighting spirit up. She Almost decided to throw herself in the ring and wrestle with the Meinfoo and a Timburr herself.

Thankfully Anise got her attention before she did that.

"Huh? Oh...yeah!" Claire followed after Anise. Was she about to get VIP access? that sounded like a good idea. However, she had yet to see the full scope of Mt. Strength.

"Oh wow! This place is amazing. You take me to the nicest places, Anise." Claire chuckled with a slightly playful tone. Really, she felt like she had walked right into a castle right out of some video game. Ralia seemed to share a similar mindset, staring up at the massive structure in awe. She was glad she decided to follow Anise, then. This was absolutely amazing! Nothing said 'there's strong pokemon here' like pokemon owning a castle all to themselves! She wanted to charge right in there and challenge the head honcho pokemon right to a wrestling match!

But it seemed like someone had beat her to it.

It looked like a literal firestorm had passed through the place, knocking out the guard pokemon with it.

"H-hey what..." Claire shared Anise's sentiments of surprise at seeing this. She hurriedly followed Anise inside, something smelled bad, and it wasn't the scorched stone. Upon arriving, Claire notice two familiar faces...those were two of Jaques' trainers, weren't they? And they were...well, they were turning this castle into a place hotter than she was.

...

Something didn't sit right with her about this. This wasn't a friendly battle. At least, it didn't look like it. Her team looked like she might be at a disadvantage, but she didn't care. Completely unaware of the prying eyes from above and whatever Anise was doing, she decided to do something.

"Ralia, double team and then confusion on that Growlithe!"

As Chic was battling away, Erika made her way over to her bag and quickly withdrew a blank Pokeball. After a particularly nasty looking hit on poor Chic, Erika was ready to throw her Pokeball but not quite. "Come on Chic, hang in there!" Erika instinctively heard herself encourage her teammate. Noticing the advantage of Inkay being within range, Erika played to her strategy. "Use scratch quick!" Chic shook her head in an attempt of shrugging off the latest attack but still pressed on. She charged and leapt, wildly flailing her footed-claws to scratch Inkay. Now was as good as time as any, Erika aimed and threw her pokeball at the Inkay.

Erika held her breath for one, two... darn. Inkay had managed to break free and a quick glance over to her teammate revealed she was not doing too well, not enough to handle another hit for sure or so Erika's trained instinct told her. Inkay didn't look too well either and maybe she should try another Pokeball? She had plenty.. well ok, four left. That was enough. Erika dug into her bag again and tossed another blank Pokeball....

Now, in the biggest and most prosperous city in the world, what kind of person would intentionally seek towards the slumiest, loneliest and diriest parts of that city? … A Pokémon Trainer looking for a Poison-type, that’s who!

The broken factories that would be the target of such an expedition looked like they had been broken due to some of their machines breaking apart due to physics working a bit differently around Mt. Edge, causing their perfectly calculated functions to go out of whack and breaking apart.

He saw more Trubbish, wild ones, which ensured that the recently released Pokémon wouldn’t have trouble making itself at home, or perhaps it had been returned where it came from? The wilder streets had Drowzees walking around like they owned the place, not even bothering to hide in any way, shape or form. They seemed to be flourishing here, with so many dreamers and Mt. Edge giving them power and all of that.

And, yeah. Poison-types, of the more common variety could be found here. Zubats lived in several factories, and here and there… A Grimer was sliding by, or a Koffing was drifting through the air smiling so happily.

Pokédex Entry #96 – Drowzee, the Hypnosis Pokémon. It gains nourishment by consuming dreams. Fun or happy dreams are more delicious, and it can get a bad stomach from nightmares. In battle, it puts enemies to sleep and then eats their dreams. It remembers every dream it has eaten, and if you make friends with one it can show you its best dreams with psychic powers.

Pokédex Entry #568 – Trubbish, the Trash Bag Pokémon. This Pokémon is born out of a chemical reaction between garbage bags and industrial waste. They like unsanitary places, eating garbage to fuel the poison within, and will stalk people who litter. The poison it belches out can put someone to sleep for a week.

Pokédex Entry #41 – Zubat, the Bat Pokémon. It lives in colonies in dark places. It has no eyes, but when flying it is constantly emitting ultrasonic sounds which it uses to navigate through echolocation. As sunlight burns it, it’s usually only found in caves or at night.

Pokédex Entry #88 – Grimer, the Sludge Pokémon. Said to be born when the light of the moon hits sludge pumped out of factories. It drinks wastewater along with the waste of factories and loves anything filthy. Each Grimer is composed of different germs, and Grimers share bits of each other to one another to create new poisons.

Pokédex Entry #109 – Koffing, the Poison Gas Pokémon. It fills itself with lighter-than-air gases to float, and concocts them into poisonous gases within. When agitated, it expels the gases within into a poisonous smoke-screen. However, it can fail the process and randomly blow up. At higher temperatures, it is especially prone to blowing up at little to no provocation.

Martin was walking around the emptier streets of the Industrial District watching for Pokémon. Perhaps he had just seen something that he perhaps wanted, or perhaps he had decided that he had enough and was just going to return and do something else, when suddenly he involuntarily froze in place. He found that his legs wouldn’t move as he wanted. He could still move his arms, or walk backwards, but going in the direction he intended became impossible.

Behind him, his shadow stretched, almost unnaturally so. There was a street-light that had initially caused the shadow, but the shadow was directed in the wrong angle, now. It looked distinctly unnatural, stretched out and bent. Like, something had bolted down his shadow and now he couldn’t walk anywhere because his shadow was stuck, somehow. And… just exactly where that theoretical bolt would be, stood a small shape. A small black-and-white humanoid with a purple face and two large eyes, staring intently at him, fixated on him. It stood on his shadow.

Pokédex Entry #574 – Gothita, the Fixation Pokémon. They’re always staring at something, especially trainers and their Pokémon, and can become so obsessed with watching that it doesn’t notice incoming attacks. It is said they’re watching something only they can see. Their ribbon-like feelers amplify their Psychic power.

Notable Ability; Shadow Tag - Target cannot escape should this Pokémon step on its shadow.

‘Thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~’ The Pokémon was making a quiet, elongated sound as it stared at him.

Well. He had a tiny Psychic-type that had made him her latest obsession and now he couldn’t leave. Martin’s shadow currently worked as a rope tying him to that location, so he could move anywhere within fifteen meters of where Gothita was tagging it, but not anywhere away from there. What now?

Upon being approached by Amelia, two of Dodrio’s heads looked at her. The one who had sneered at them was already looking, the right head, and the left head fell to curiosity as she approached. The middle head, raised above the others, refused to look at her. From here, one could tell which was which. The one who had sneered at them was anger, the right head which was taking pleasure in their pain. The left one was sorrow, eyes dropping in a different pitiful way, who was just looking on. Then, more by process of elimination than it actually looking at all happy, the raised middle head was joy, but it looked more like the “a little less angry than anger” head.

Anger sneered more as he was praised, looking rather smug and lifted himself a bit higher, daring to come to joy’s level while cackling with pride. The other two heads gave him momentary looks before-

PECK, PECK

Joy first, unimpressed with anger’s prideful rise, pecked him and shortly after sorrow pecked him too, following joy’s example. Anger squawked out loudly, expression turning from earlier sneering to unbridled rage fitting its name as it turned towards the other two heads… and found them both facing him, staring at him purposely. Realizing he was outnumbered, anger turned and looked away, though looked a great deal more unhappy now.

Sorrow was minding his own business now, head low and just looking forward at Amelia. Joy, head pridefully raised like he hadn’t allowed anger to, looked down at Amelia and gave his own sneer. Like, he was confident he had shut down Amelia’s attempt. Though, yeah. Neither sorrow or anger looked very happy, perhaps befitting their names.

Any continued actions?

Anise simply smirked at the mention of her showing Claire nice things and probably would have responded hadn’t they then been distracted by sudden situation.

Standing behind Maple and Ellyn’s battlelines, Anise and Claire seemed to get basically the same idea. When Ralia was setting up Double Team, duplicating herself numerous times across the street, the disciple took out a Pokéball and Froakie was sent out before her.

‘Bubble at Growlithe!’ Anise commanded, and roughly at the same time Ralia’s Confusion was focused. Ellyn frowned in pain as she realized what was happening.

‘Bird, Sheep, Tree, Thing, over here!’ she commanded her Pokémon, but they were too slow to actually turn around before the attacks went off. Ralia’s Confusion hit Growly, who yelped and jumped forward a bit, surprising Maple and causing her to go wide-eyed. Froakie unleashed a stream of bubbles at the same Growlithe…

However, Ellyn herself had dashed forward and then lifted her shoulder in defense as she placed herself in the way of the Bubbles. She grunted from the water’s impact, took a number of their splashes but then fell over from the collected force of it, though she had prepared her other shoulder to take the hit to the ground. Though, yeah, she wasn’t wearing anything on her shoulders. Her four Pokémon were quick to dash and place themselves in front of her where she fell, other bubbles floating away.

‘… Sneak attacks aren’t very nice,’ Ellyn commented, sitting up, now dirty with mountain dust and clothes soaked from the Bubbles, staring at Claire and Anise.

‘Eh? E-Ellyn!?’ Maple had grabbed and calmed down Growly, but was now turning her head and blinked in confusion, rather alarmed.

‘Growly, keep Roaring! What’s-’ Commanding so and letting her Pokémon continue the battle, who almost let the next few Fighting-types get too close, Maple let go of her dog and spun around. There, she saw.

‘- Oh! Wait, you’re- you’re Claire, right?’ Maple asked, gaining a happy smile with a sudden excitement. ‘Oh, I’m so happy to see you! We didn’t get to talk earlier, but you looked like such a cool and interesting person and I really wanted to talk to you! I’m so glad we-’ -and there she stopped short, looking around and reading the atmosphere.

‘- um, what’s going on?’ She looked confused.

‘So what now? Do we fight?’ Ellyn asked, a bit of challenge in her otherwise pained eyes where she sat, scrubbing the shoulder that had fallen into the ground with one hand.

Anise next actions can be influenced in case Claire has a strategy or so. She hadn’t been the one spoken to and was a little curious to that they apparently knew her, so she hadn’t said anything yet.

‘Inkay…?’ The squid-like Pokémon was calming down a bit, confident in the Reflect shields that was raised, but then another of Erika’s Pokéballs flew straight through the shields and hit Inkay straight on. The ball fell to the floor…

It shook o-

"Well, that wasn't very nice of you two. If he thought of it, he deserves the praise." Amelia said to the 'happy' and 'sorrow' heads. "Obviously he's the smartest of the three of you, but I do have a question: Which of you three is the strongest and most capable of keeping the other two in line when things go south. Obviously, that head is the smartest and can think of the plans but that must mean he's also the strongest. Unless you two want to prove to me otherwise. If so, I got an idea on how you can prove it."

❄Erika Olson❄

Erika held her breath again as she watched the Pokeball shake once, twice... thrice. Click "Whew..." Erika sighed as she allowed herself to gently fall back onto her butt, sitting for a moment now that one of the more intense encounters she had was over. Inkay was very close to hitting Erika with some type of an attack and more importantly, her teammate, Chic, was really hurt from that encounter. Erika glanced over and found Chic looking back already, as if expecting another command but Erika knew what she had to do. "Oh Chic, girl, you did great! Come here!" Erika patted on her lap and much to Chic's delight, she came hurrying over. "Torchic!" She exclaimed as she found a spot on Erika's lap and nestled up to Erika's torso.

As the two of them took a moment, Erika heard the miner from earlier speak. Cooling down now, she couldn't really blame any of the miners for not warning her earlier. She should have been careful. "Thanks but I couldn't have done it without this Chic-ity here!" Erika replied, scratching Chic's warm feathers for a moment. "I should have been careful, too. It is, after all, a wild Pokemon."

Erika allowed the two of them a few more minutes to take a break and while idly scratching Chic's feathers, she wondered about Inkay. She had never honestly seen one before and really had no idea about the Pokemon. Maybe once she finishes here, she should give the Professor a call to ask about her team? It might help. Also for potential pointers? Maybe.

"Alright, Chic, you okay if we continue with a bit more mining? We will take a nice long, deserved back after. Promise." Chic, encouraged but tired, nodded and was ready to continue.

So they continued. Erika chiseled away with a pickax as Chic used Ember. Eventually they found a green gem, which Erika wasn't sure what it was but it looked nice. She planned on getting it appraised later. However she still wasn't done, finding the strength to carry on and continue mining.

Joy scoffed at Amelia, raising his chin and beak high while staring down at her with mild amusement, as if being condescending towards her words. He didn’t seem like he was taking her seriously.

Anger was simmering with irritation, probably still feeling that pain from those pecks, glaring sideways at the other two heads. Sorrow looked a bit more unsure of itself, eyes darting a bit between the other two looking a bit worried, after all, if this went south there really was no way for the three to go different ways. But, at the very least, it would appear all three heads were paying attention to her.

The miner smiled and nodded to her, and then continued with what he was doing.

Erika continued mining. She did find the gem, and then went on deeper. She might notice that the miners nearby was, in fact, finding a couple of rocks they were putting in their varying containers, but she couldn’t see what exactly they were finding from here. Anyways, she kept hacking into the ice, onwards, with what powers she had left.

It took a while, with many useless rocks found, when suddenly… huh, that’s a shape. It’s… not a shape like the shape she was perhaps looking for. That’s another Pokémon’s shape.

A meter tall and fairly ugly flower Pokémon’s shape, frozen into the ice.

Pokédex Entry #345 – Lileep, the Sea Lily Pokémon. It attached itself to rocks at the bottom of the seafloor using powerful suckers and disguised itself as seaweed until it caught prey swimming close with its tentacles shaped like flower-petals, devouring said prey whole. It went extinct over 100 million years ago, exists today only due to reanimation through fossils.

Contradicting what the Pokédex just said was the fact the Lileep in front of her was still whole and had never been a fossil, it was just frozen solid. So, how old is this ice, again? Details like that aside, looks like Erika found another Pokémon. What would she do?

Dawkin Trustram

Dawkin silently watched as Amelia carefully went about manipulating the three headed pokemon, mentally kicking himself for not thinking of such a thing himself. He'd simply assumed the heads were in agreement... He had given the Pokemon too much credit. Rather than risk derailing whatever Amelia was planning on doing Dawkin remained quiet and waited to see exactly what Amelia planned on doing.

"If you want to prove how strong you are, you should fight some of the other pokemon here. Not the weaker ones like Litleo or Fletchling but the likes of Pyroars, Rapidash, Bouffalant, Kangaskan, and others like them. But, you must do it without the help of your other two heads. Fight your way and prove your better then the other two. Show them you're the leader out of the three of you." Amelia said calmly and with some level of confidence. "Unless, of course, you're too scared of them. No shame in a being a scaredy-bird."

~Claire Blackwood~

@PlatinumSkink

Ralia's clones split off from the original, bouncing out from behind her like, each doing their own little dance move in the process, and all making a move to appear as though they were launching the confusion at Growlithe. As soon as Ellyn and Maple's attention were turned from their respective battles, the redhead would pause for just a moment to deliver her ultimatum.

"I dunno what in the heck you guys thing you're doing bullying these pokemon like this, but I don't care! You want a fight, I'll give ya both one! I'm not gonna let you bully these pokemon in an unfair battle!" She had to give props to Ellyn for taking that bubble attack, but that was neither here nor there. She was gettin' fired up, and now she was gonna thrash these to, type advantages be damned. "Ralia, Disarming Voice!" That should give all the pokemon on the opposite field a good whack, and possibly throw them off. At least the ones nearest Ralia.

The Ralts in question, along with her clones made a few pyramids of themselves, forming a line and then stacking themselves on top of the other, all making the motion of attacking using Disarming voice. Unlike her trainer though, she was aware of the prying eyes from above. She hadn't a clue as to what they were or what they were doing, but she at least agreed with Claire. This sort of fighting was deplorable.

Just as she gave Ralia the command though, she grabbed a pokeball form her bag. She wasn't gonna hold back at all here. Ritz was released from the pokeball in a flash of red light, hovering slightly above the group.

"Come on, Ritz! Show 'em you're not gonna be underestimated!"

"L-led!" The small ladybug looked at the situation before it an instinctively recoiled. Oh dear, this looked bad. Could he handle it? Could he of all pokemon handle something like this? Ritz fluttered his wings, giving the opponents his best war face...which only ended up being a mildly adorable pout, but Claire was trusting him with this. She had been nice to him so far, so he'd give it his best.

"Standard maneuver! Support from the sidelines and make sure to focus on dodging! Don't get hit by that Mareep!" Ritz gave a small cry of confirmation, the bug type dashed as fast as it could out of the major line of battle before blasting a supersonic towards the Natu.

Maybe there was a misunderstanding or something here, but Claire just went off to battle, in her usual hasty fashion.
