For those who haven't played before:
Answer the above question and then ask your own.
Alternatively you can ask the same question above with "sq".

I'll go first.

How long have you been roleplaying?

I have been involved in roleplaying one way or another for approximately nineteen or so years, so long that I cannot definitively name it beyond that. It was crude and simple in those initial stages of course, as goes with being young, but having greatly advanced with the flow of time. Uniquely, my character and persona have always been the same, only refining rather than undergo any actual or overt change, @Exit.

For the next person to follow, what is the one character you most regret making and playing?

A woman. Although I love my creation, it was a rush step on my part as I had not yet achieved adequate writing skill enough to portray such delicates species with so many details to be put in place yet. So yeah, still feeling sorry about that until this very day.

Question for next person. What is your most satisfied creation? (Rp also count.)

Assuming I'm reading the question correctly...

The most satisfying things I've probably created were my more or less recent novels, because one helped me get out of a terrible writer's block and the other was the longest piece of fiction I've wrote. Both were enjoyed by my friends who read them, so that was some extra goodness. It's usually quite difficult to get me to even finish projects and spend time on them, as I did with these. And though I've made many songs and finished RP's. I just feel like I got more personal fulfillment getting my solo writing work done.

Ill fated villains/antagonists. Exploring their dynamics for their rise, their justifications for current actions, and if applicable, their subtle changes as they fall.

...Puberty is the only time you can make drastic changes to your physiology, seriously, you already know how so go do it and don't wait any longer. I mean X-men level of change *explains how*. Do it now. Also, don't go into the military, move somewhere else if you have to. They just want to use you. You will be changed in a way you don't want if you don't.

Deep in the mountains, somewhere surrounded by pines, with flowing rivers dotting the landscape, where the granite stones are warm, and the grasslands are softly swaying with the breeze rolling down the mountain. There are seasons too, as winter is laden with snow but not ice, but summer is warm yet not scalding; everything in between is a nice lead in to the next event. A place where the people are by and large not, instead replaced by bison, elk, moose, pronghorn, among others. There are few places like this, but I am fortunate to already call it home.

The following question is, what method do you use to create a character? Are they conjured up freely or do you sit down to craft someone for the story? Are they more an independent agent where you place their hat on your head and take on their character or are they an instrument of your will? Think along those lines.

Usually, a Briza Character starts with any sort of inquiry within Briza that Briza is curious to explore on varying fantastic levels. When a story, plot, theme, or game is presented in a way that seems to offer Briza help in the intrinsic adventure, a character begins forming and molding into an instrument that can be implemented as a writing utensil to further fulfill the wonderment that is flooding Briza's mind with wordinesses that needth an outlet.

The creation process appears to be more intuitive than Briza's own doings — good or bad or idk!

This here.

I don't like to self promote but I'd be lying if I said this wasn't the most satisfying thing I've ever posted. A lot of work went into that and it's not even done but it's nice to see an official version up and it's always really nice to see how far you've come after inception.

The one character above all I retain who was and is my favorite is Andarra Bloodmane, for the simple fact I created a monster and a anti-villain who is reasonable in execution and actual purpose. The objective was to write a personified force of nature, like a hurricane or a volcano, something completely indifferent and unfeeling, destructive and tireless, but as with my works, give it an animal bent alongside the strong undertones of "Nature conflicting with man.". The reason I call her such a success is that for all her failings and weaknesses, a thing gripped by compulsion and obsession, there is good reason to understand her purpose which is summarized most simply as, "The destroyer of destroyers." The setting she was wrote for and in was a gamble for the future, something the characters themselves would never see; something they did not even come to know until the very end. It was the least of the worst options in either setting the world at war against itself and letting it burn to ashes, or allow an unchecked, completely merciless thing to pare down all fronts until they were no more.

No less, the other great success I had with her character was making her existence a myth within a myth. The people of the world had no name or concept for what they were truly facing so they ascribed it to their own mythology, which the characters came to know her by. All the lore and legends about the "Crimson Woman" being parallels for our own personification of unfeeling death, a force of nature, as the "Grim Reaper", but without the obvious benefit of knowing what we know in the meta. Why was this a success in itself? Because the players played it out utterly not knowing really what they were facing or what it all meant; they expected one thing and met another in turn. Rather than having this epic battle with some monster of myth they came to confront what amounts to a living firestorm or a tornado, just much more supernatural and animal.

The one story I ever told where I did not ask myself at the end of each piece, "Could I have done this better?" and the greatest illusion I ever inflicted on players.

As for my question, let us speak to something a bit different in tone - quite a bit different - but much the same. What is the one character you have always wanted to play but have just never been able to? Why and what reason haven't you?

The extremely dominant and masculine character who is suave and unwavering and strong has often tickled my fancy. Either the story never gets very far, or I am too much of a fuzzy-wuzzy generic bathroom rug that just wants to make the bottom of your feet and toes feel all nice and cozy when you step all over it. What is so eminently frightening about Confession?

I am assuming you are speaking to the Catholic form of confession, or some form of traditional orthodoxy, which I myself am not familiar to, but I imagine the problem, the fear itself, arises from admitting wrongdoing to someone there and then, in the first person and who "knows" you the individual. The latent, underlying admission of guilt to another carries some sort of threat to it, that reprimand or punishment for it could be carried out, even if the idea is that it is an act of repentance. That is also ignoring that it is of course a frightening experience to confront one's own errors; people have enough issue with that as it is.

Speaking for myself, I have no real regrets or pangs of guilt that hang over me. Confessing an error or wrongful way is not that intimidating; it has already been rationalized and understood for where I erred in it. I know the consequences and weight of my actions, perhaps even knew them fully going in, and that in the end there is no point in having fear or not being at peace with things. No unfinished business.

Speaking on to stranger, more metaphysical and spiritual levels, have you ever experienced any moment where no amount of rationale, logic, reason, or understanding can explain an outcome for you? If so, what transpired? What made it break the apparent rules?

“The foam that you see after rubbing soap in your hands is a large collection of tiny soap bubbles. Each individual bubble is actually an extremely thin film of the soap solution. ... These countless surfaces scatter the light in different directions, which makes the foam/lather look white.”

Question: What was your experience when you first try to roleplay?
Hidden 7 yrs ago Post by The Harbinger of Ferocity

My first actual experience roleplaying or my first experience roleplaying? If it were my first actual experience it was, to say the least, a brutal one where I found myself greatly out of my league. At my best, mind you quite young at the time, I was at most a "high free", "low casual" sort of writer and roleplayer, and stumbled on to a group who were what one would call "advanced" or "high casual" here on the Roleplayer Guild. Needless to say, they thoroughly enjoyed utterly dismantling me and effectively humiliating me. Fortunately I was observant enough even in youth to avoid obvious cliches and pitfalls, but my weakness was that I was still very uninitiated to advanced writing and my concepts were not elaborate despite staying away from the overt failings. A few months, a year of that even, and they had more or less made me into an actual roleplayer well beyond my age at the time and finally accepted me rather than treat me as a child, often speaking down to me and critiquing all I did. I hated the experience as much as I desired to improve and once I at last met their usual standards they embraced me as their own company; I felt I had well earned it, quite a rewarding experience too.

As for my first experience roleplaying, between being hazy and disjointed memories, what few I do even have of that time, I have been doing so since at least my time in elementary school. I never quite stopped and my character, rather my persona, only ever evolved and into new mediums. Nothing was truly lost there, the archetype refined, but when I was young I recall the reactions of others to be... less than accepting. Pouncing the other youth and or getting into brawls, attempting to slink around in the shadows or around brush, trees, and grass never went well. The game of tag was more a game of "Hunt and Chase", as being "it" was just part of taking on the identity and having an excuse to act it out. All of it was roleplaying from the start.

As for the next question please leave out names and do attempt to be ambiguous about it if that person is here among us on the Roleplayer Guild, but what was the worst, most egregious character you have ever encountered in roleplaying? Please do elaborate, we all love the horror stories here I am sure.
