Basically the issue is, it can't be a multiverse RP if the multiverse characters are just average joe OCs. If Farmer with Shotgun is stronger than Akuma or Sonic there is a huge flaw in your entire concept.

On my end, I'm also the opinion that the crossover aspect ultimately feels forced and tacked on one way or another, like you haven't given it enough relevance. Nothing in the setting given leads to or justifies multiversal interactions in any real way beyond you saying they can be a thing OOC, it reduces what you're using to pitch your game ("A Multidimensional RP") to a gimmick character select screen whereas usually dimension-hopping is kind of a big deal. It's a shame because I do think you might have something with the setting (cult trying to accelerate multiversal collapse/singularity) and more controlled non-sandbox structure.

I'd say characters keep their powers and whatnot, but everyone is brought onto the same power level and progresses further and further. They have a vague idea where they come from, but not much beyond that. (instead of complete amnesia) That way villain characters can be used. And since its multiverse, its less all on earth, more thats the home base, with escapades into other realms. that fixes most of the issues.

Not to scapegoat anyone, but I think Archmage MC and Zero Hex may be the culprits of it's downfall.

(Especially one particular person of the two. The moment he entered I was turned off immediately. He knows who he is.)

Damn. Was kind of worried that would be the case. Most GMs tend to get disheartened when the most vocal members of an interest check only have complaints >. <

Oh well. Until the next Multiverse rp appears. :(

Of course, he could be busy, but judging by what I've seen, it leans much more so to what I initially think. Criticism is good as long as its medium and fair.

A shame too... I was ready to make a character as soon as I see a few more examples and act accordingly. But it seems it didn't happen because of these guys.

(Nor do I have shame in calling them out, especially one of them, because god damnit we've almost had something and yall just had to go there...)

That's always a possibility, but I won't hold my breath. Usually, when people decide to open up an interest check, it's because they plan on being on for awhile. The fact the GM hasn't been on for two days does look like all the complaining was too much. Most likely he just gave up and decided to do something else with his time

Yeah, I would've had something up too, but I couldn't narrow it down to just two of the characters I wanted to use >. <

I get some people would like to see something done a certain way in an rp, but it's a bit much when you keep pushing to have to change the few details on an rp that makes it different from every other kind of rp in that genres. Damn it, the leveling up aspect and memory loss had potential >. <

Indeed. It started off well, but then two came in and bashed it on the head. I also believe this is at fault.

I would've at least two alternate canon characters, one from say Talon --> Overwatch and the reverse Overwatch --> Talon.

This wasn't just pushing, this was a pretty strong shove and with little fairness. They wanted something else outside of this RP, a gaming multiverse or something, and not just what it's supposed to be. That's a disaster waiting to happen for nearly any GM who can take things to heart (I mean everyone can/does to a certain extent). But yeah, the ideas presented as said are pretty cool. Maybe someone can rebirth this concept with a slightly more detailed flair (Spoiler Alert: Not me - I got shit to do atm and will probably not be the best GM) but honestly who knows.

@jynmi88 The best course of action at this juncture would be to adapt the concept in accordance with any valid criticism received (not every critique is valid criticism), take 2-3 days to do so and further refine the idea and the post that presents it, and re-pitch it. The biggest criticism I'll give you is that the main post gives a lot of information about the world which is good, but not a lot about the mechanics of the RP that it introduces ... and it could use a good formatting pass.

You had interest so it's reasonable to expect that interest, and potentially more, will come back on a second attempt. My other feedback is that you don't need to go through a formal interest check process before creating and opening an RP. That's not written anywhere. You could skip the re-pitch and go straight to a thread. From experience, I usually see as many people join in after the thread is up as I see people actually come over from the int check (usually int checks have between a 25-50% retention rate on average).

And if it's any consolation, I've had RPs die in similar manners too. Sometimes it's something you do, and sometimes the writing gods just say "No."

EDIT: One thing I wish to mention is that as a GM you're in the management business. It's both your right and to an extent your job to smack down commentary made in bad faith. You should never give a good faith answer to a bad faith critique.

Sure - I can definitely see that some mechanics ought to be included and added in. And I do agree it doesn't look the most appealing in format, but the guy was new so it can pass. This, my friend, is constructive criticism. What Zero and Archmage said was not.

It's just the most common way to introduce an idea, get up hype, refine the last finishing touches to the world, and then present it within the next few days without wasting up space in the RP section. Sure, you don't have to do this, but that's how most people do it.

Also same - some RP ideas just didn't get enough attraction or if it does start, often I have shit that pops out last minute and everything goes down the gutter. I may return to GMing once Im in a stable environment.

Edit: Also true. Don't let others manipulate you when they seem to reek such bad faith. If they don't like it, they don't like it. Ignore them.

Which was weird too. I mean, I get some people like things done a certain way, but these guys really went at it like they were insulted at how different it was from what they wanted. Some rps just aren't for everyone, and shouldn't be. I hate to say this because I don't like to be exclusionary but when something is so far off from what you want to do, and you don't have to do it, don't do it.

The first character I was going to do would've problem been an Original from one of the shonen series like One Piece or Bleach. Might've even revived Abigail from the last multiverse rp. For the other one, I wanted to do something close to a silent, righteous angry character, whose strong and good with a gun, similar to the Doomslayer from Doom 2016, because I've been currently playing Doom 2016

Hmmm. I might give it a try later on, because I really want to do an rp, but will probably wait a bit since the last multiverse roleplay I tried setting up got literally zero interest. Probably because I was trying to get everyone to brainstorm from the get go as opposed to having anything solid right off the bat *.*;

@Sierra

That's probably true, but it didn't seem like Hex and Arch were actively giving criticism as opposed to pushing for things to be done in a way they wanted it to be done.

This is never a particularly easy lesson to learn, but it's a good one. I've rescinded my interest from so many prospects that I've stopped even mentioning it. I just silently subscribe to the thread and watch. The reason almost every time is that something isn't disclosed up front. A game mechanic, a crucial bit of world lore, you name it and it's happened. The way I've taken to doing int checks is that the full thread as you'd put it up in an RP is what goes up in the int check. The interest check is exactly that, an interest check, to get people in and writing CSs rather than a mostly-finished concept being pitched before its ready. That said, it takes forever ... a lesson I am learning the hard way slowly plugging along with Tear the World Down.

This is grammatically weird. I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or countering me. Was "didn't" supposed to be "did"?

Quite so. They forced for something else they wanted when it's not on the menu. Like wanting hamburgers at a fast food hot dog joint. That's not on the menu or what's being shown. You either get what you get, or find a way to improve the concept/product.

Man that would've been a cool character! I love me some Doom so Im fully onboard with a character like so.

We shall see. I'll be onboard if it does happen.

I suppose that is true, but my problem is I try to please everyone before I've got everything solid which is like trying to build a sand castle out of really, really watery mud.

You're point has been received loud and clear. I'll have, at least the basics of the rp, primary mechanics and lore, as fully fleshed out as possible before starting.

It wasn't so much as a counter as a point that Hex and Arch weren't giving constructive criticism, but were just trying to thinly veil their push towards the type of rp they wanted to see

@jynmi88 (That quote regarding Archmage was a jab at him specifically).

What you just said however can be true depending on what the RP wants to be. Not everything will be included, but it all depends on the idea, how it is done, etc.

Plot seems flexible enough. Interested to know if Sci-Fi is permitted, and not just magic. Looks like people are pronouncing the check dead already though.
