Sapporo, Japan
Ishin Academy, April 7th

It was nearing morning in Sapporo, but more importantly it dawned a new year for Ishin Academy.

Of the twenty-two students approved, hundreds had applied. The Board of Directors was still iffy about accepting foreigners but after being consecutively beaten by their longtime rivals, Yūei Academy, something had been decided in the backrooms amongst those who held sway in the future of the hero school. Foreigners would be accepted for the time being to show Ishin Academy was not only a breeding ground for tradition and pride but also progress and acceptance. After all, at the end of the day, it didn’t matter where you came from as long as your spirit resembled that of a hero.

All applicants had received their acceptance letter a few months prior with all of the needed information. When to arrive at Ishin Academy, directions how to get there once in Sapporo, an acceptance video, a pair of five uniforms, and a printed guide as well as train pass that allowed them free transportation all over Japan if the need suited them. In just one hour the opening ceremony would begin and the lives of the students would be changed forever. Being late would not be tolerated and not attending would be punished with strict recompense. The students likely knew this – or at least the native Japanese did. Ishin Academy was ranked second in hero schools in Eastern Asia and had a pretty noteworthy reputation.

To Soar Skyward.

A term that some thought was a bit too optimistic for a rigid, draconian, and harsh school like Ishin was. But Ishin was nothing but optimistic. Heroes were supposed to be an ideal that people wanted to be and wanted others to be. No matter what it took to get to reach it, Ishin students were expected to be hungry and dedicated to that dream.

As such, students were passing through the academy compound’s gates, suitcases in tow, as they were ushered toward the auditorium. Returning students seemed to remain idle in the courtyard for a few minutes, knowing full well that the opening ceremony wouldn’t be for another hour. It was plenty of time to talk with old friends and gossip about pro-hero activity such as Knightmare’s recent put-down of an international crime-ring that was hiding out in a facility near Temiya Park. For first-year students at Ishin, the idea of taking some time for themselves was probably strange given they didn’t want to get reprimanded for a mistake after being accepted into the academy after an exhausting interview, mental evaluation, and performance exam in early January. If they decided to go inside early they would be directed into categories based on their class year: first, second, and third.

Their “hero career” had begun.

Mizuhana Yoshiba crossed her arms, the academy pamphlet loosely held by her right hand.

“Tch. This is it, huh?” Yoshiba muttered, unamused by not only Ishin but herself. It was no secret that Ishin was known for getting results from their students but it was still a school that was proud that made something out of people who weren’t worthy of UA. For any other student that may have been a breath of fresh air, but Yoshiba didn’t see herself as the worst of the worst by a long shot. Mizuhana Yoshiba was the daughter of two acclaimed pro heroes. She had worked hard to be a cut above anyone else she had ever met. She pushed herself every single day. But this was where she ended up, all because she wasn’t good at the unimportant nonsense that was on the acceptance exams of every single hero academy in Japan — book smarts. Yoshiba sighed as she moved forward. Maybe if she had been better with books she would've been at UA instead.

As she moved through the hallway corridors she knew that this would be the beginning of her hero career whether she liked it or not. There was no going back in time and doing better; she didn’t have a time quirk, if such a thing even existed. Ishin would be remembered as the academy where the history books would note that the legendary pro hero Mizuhana Yoshiba attended and graduated at the top of her class. The thought was a compromise Yoshiba made with herself to amend for her failure of not being able to attend UA in the first place. She would get her hero license and be remembered as the best. There was no question in her mind about that fact.

Everyone here is second to me. Sidekicks, all of them.

As everyone began filing into the hall, the blue-haired teenager knew it was time. She wasn’t one of those second-rate delinquents who valued herself so little that she would ever consider being late. It didn’t matter what the headmaster had to say about Ishin, Yoshiba had already made up her mind and figured out a set of goals, as unrealistic as they may have been. Still, she would sit down with the sidekicks in the section of the ceremony hall that had been designated to her “year group”. Mizuhana Yoshiba was not a slacker. She hated slackers.

Yoshiba was a hero, after all.

Hanamura Daiki let out a cat like yawn and stretched his arms over his heads, which caused a soft rattling noise to come out of Daiki throat. He wasn't yawning due boredom or exhaustion but out of stress.

"I made it, I actually made it." Daiki gasped, amazed by not only himself but at Ishin. He knew of this school reputation, but he didn't actually think he would make it this far with his unimpressive quirk. Daiki knew he was undeserved Of U.A. and even Ishin to be quite frank. But they made it, thus Ishin sees something inside him and his quirk that he doesn't, and he wants to figure that out himself. Daiki was a nobody in the grand scheme of things. An orphan from Aomori with no hero connections or anybody important really, and with a quirk that isn't exactly hero material but it proven itself enough for Ishin to take him into their revered ranks as a Hero Student.

Crap, I'm tearing up.

Daiki's eyes started to water as he walked his way down the hall. The cat tailed youth didn't waste any time on hanging outside talking to strangers, he has three years to make allies and friends here. He won't if he gets kicked out for being late to the assembly. He knew of Ishin's harsh punishments. Daiki knew how to avoid trouble, although he was taught so in by an unorthodox manner.

Daiki arrived to his designated seating area. Still with watery eyes. So far there was only a few scattered students. The most outstanding student appearance wise was a girl with blue tentacle like hair. Does she have an aquatic-type quirk? Daiki was gonna talk to her but he looked indecent with his eyes as watery as they were right now. So he sat his butt down a few seats away from the girl and started wiping away at the tears in his eyes. It would take a few moments.

But he was just so happy to make this far and he won't let anybody shame his joy.

It’d been a very exciting morning for Takara. She hardly ever had a chance to ride the bullet train, and she never thought she’d be going to such a prestigious school, so she was rushing to make sure she made it on time. A few bumps in packing essentials, having to run and buy a replacement heating pad for her spine, and almost missing the bullet train left her sweating a storm. But she made it, and she was impressed with herself for once.

The ride was a nice change of pace from staying in Tokyo all day, but she didn’t have much to do aside from look out the window. April was a slow season for Sumo, unless you were looking at some weird underground scene that wasn’t approved of by the Japan Sumo Association. She could try and see if there was anything like that in Sapporo, but she figured she wouldn’t have time. Besides, what would Ishin think if she was caught sneaking out to see Quirk Sumo matches? She couldn’t tarnish the reputation of such an esteemed school! Well, at least there was stuff going on in May. Well, with all of that intense thinking, the ride was over before Takara even knew it.

Takara made sure to pack lightly, only taking what she needed. Her heating pad, some recipes for a hardy Chankonabe, her phone, a single set of pajamas, and her favorite pillow. It was nice having few interests, because it meant that she didn’t need to buy lots of things. It was easy carrying everything with her, but in her big rush she wound up having to ask a stranger for directions. She’d forgotten how to get to Ishin from the train station, but she was determined to make it on time. She had to look good. What if a Sumo Wrestler had shown up late to a match?

Ah, I hope I’m not late.

Takara glanced down at the information she’d received with her acceptance letter. She knew she was in the right place. It was too school-like to be the wrong place. But the hallways were kind of confusing to her, and she had to stop to read every sign to find her way to what should have been an easy-to-find hall. At this point she was rushing, hurriedly walking when there was nobody around to see her awkward attempt at not-running and slowing down whenever she so much as suspected someone might look her direction. She was nervous, but the fact that there were other people walking around meant she was probably on time. Finally, (after unknowingly walking in a circle several times) she found the meeting hall and found a seat after almost sitting with the second years.

I’m too nervous. I can’t mess this up on the first day! C’mon Takara, if you can’t get in the dohyō you at least need to find a seat to watch!

Oh, this was exciting! Sure, she couldn’t find her way around as easily as some people, but she was too excited to sit still. Had she missed part of the speech? Was this intermission? What time was it? So many questions, but she had to be polite. She should probably ask, though. Where she was sat was somewhere near the edge of the row, so there weren’t too many people seated on her right, but that didn’t mean she was alone!

The student to her left, a blue-haired girl, sat more seriously than Takara herself did. Well, Ishin was a serious school for serious people. It’d probably look good if she straightened herself out, too. It’d probably be good for her spine, anyways. It took her a second, but she timidly turned to her neighbor and whisper-yelled, ”I’m not late, right? Also, hi, I’m Katō Takara! I’m so glad to meet you!

Interacting With: @Scrub Mage@Inkarnate

Chen cracked his neck as he stepped off the bullet train, stretching out his arms and yawning loudly as several very annoyed people moved around the obstruction in their daily lives. He covered his mouth at the tail end of his yawn, muttering a quiet apology to nobody in particular as he began moving once again towards the stairway down. The trip itself had been pretty boring, Chen had just listened to a podcast on his phone for most of the ride, only taking out his earbuds once he realized he was close to his stop. It was at this moment that something occurred to Chen. He had absolutely no idea how to get to Ishin from the bullet train stop.

Well this is embarrassing. No way is he going to ask some random stranger where his own school is, that would just make him look bad and the school, as well by association. "Hmm. What to do, what to do." Despite this major problem, Chen didn't look particularly worried or nervous. He could solve this problem with but a minute of thought, such a conundrum was nothing for a guy like him. Perhaps he could just follow someone there. Yeah, just follow another student there! Of course he had to find another student first, but he would be able to identify them by uniform no problem. As Chen's eyes scanned the crowd, he noted all the various people going about their lives, so many different Quirks. And he had the best Quirk out of all of them.

Finally his eye caught sight of a girl wearing an Ishin uniform asking for directions, perfect. He would just follow her to the school. It never occurred to him that if she got lost then he would get lost as well, luckily it didn't come to that. He hiked his bag up onto his shoulder a bit and began following after Takara with confidence, now ready to truly begin his journey to becoming a hero. He also put his earbuds back in and resumed his podcast, Kamui Woods had some interesting stuff to say about deforestation and how Quirks are vital in protecting the environment.

He arrived at the school with some time to spare, so he made sure to stop and smell the roses, metaphorically speaking. There were no roses around the school, instead the awe inspiring sights were induced by the building itself. Large, grand, imposing to some. This would be where Chen stayed for the next few years of his life and it would be where he formed his skills. It would also be where he formed important connections, the most important part of being a hero. Doesn't matter how strong or smart you are if you can't land a job with a good agency.

After he spent an appropriate amount of time admiring the building, not too short as to not appreciate the architecture but not too long as to appear weird, he made his way to the meeting hall, once again catching sight of the girl he had followed here. Perfect, he could sit right next to her and strike up a conversation while he waited for the assembly to start. With hands in pockets and cocky grin plastered onto his face, he sat down next to Takara as she began speaking to the blue haired girl. His eyes scanned over the two of them quickly, the blue haired girl looked way too serious for his liking. But she was going to be a classmate nonetheless, so he would just have to get her to wind down a little.

"Hey there, I saw you at the bullet train earlier. Are you not from around here either?" As he spoke up Chen made sure to make eye contact with both girls as he flashed his best confident smile, cranking up his charm to maximum levels. "I'm Adachi Chen by the way. Pleasure to meet you two and likewise I'm sure." He winked at the end of his introduction, crossing one leg over the other as he leaned back into his chair.

So annoying.

A strand of Yoshiba’s hair twitched, swaying back and forth like as if were the tail of an upset animal, as she heard the incessant mumbling next to her between the other first year students. It was a harmless introduction to some and it was decidedly polite, but Yoshiba was already in one of her moods. She didn’t immediately turn to speak to them, though they still already gave off a poor first impression by being annoying; similar to nails on a chalkboard. A light whiff of breath escaped her mouth, albeit quietly.

Yoshiba did wonder how long it would be until the headmaster demanded silence and everyone’s attention to go on about their pointless introductory speech. Why not just get to the point? This wasn’t a normal school, this was a hero academy, so why operate like it was some sort of basic primary school for the quirkless? Why waste everyone’s time with spectacles like this? If it were up to her, none of this would even be a “thing” and students would be ushered into their classrooms to get real work done. Had Yoshiba not wanted to be seen as the best, as indicated by her front and center appearance, she would’ve skipped out on the ceremony outright. She could tolerate sidekicks acting like idiots and being bored if it was going to get her recognized as the only hero worth noting. Which was exactly, in her mind, the truth of the matter.

As if asserting her dominance, she spoke clearly to the students next to her without even turning to look at them.

“I think we’re early, actually.”

The blue-haired girl’s response was as friendly as could be expected, though there was a certain thought brewing in her head and her hair’s movements indicated her mood as much as it had before, “looking” in the direction of the boy as it laid on Yoshiba’s rightmost shoulder.

“I’m Mizuhana Yoshiba. I'm from Kagoshima, so yeah, no, I'm not from here.” She responded in turn, introducing herself to the boy who attempted to engage with her. “You can use whatever honorifics you want, if that’s your thing.”

“That's... really far enough, please.”

The wheels of the foreign vehicle slowed down, reflecting the brushes of pink-blossoming branches in the piano black of its bonnet. The tinted window inside was only half closed, letting the driver's voice ring clear through the car; a sound that tore Yachiyo from her thoughts without patience or gentleness. "Are you sure, Mi-" “Yes, quite, thank you very much,” Yachiyo reassured the middle-aged chauffeur, and clicked open the door next to her before he could leave the vehicle to do it for her, or even just reply. “Please tell mother and father all is well, I'll write them as soon as I can!”

The raven-haired girl was uncomfortably aware of the glances her parent's car drew, both for its decadence as well as origin; truthfully, she herself thought it was an unusual choice for them. By proxy, she, too, felt bystander's eyes on herself as she retrieved her luggage from the trunk. After carefully closing it without much noise, Yachiyo turned to take in the surroundings. The IA building's roofs scraped at the scenery, sending sparks of excitement as well as anxiety through her insides. With her fingers tightening around the handle of her bag until the knuckles turned white, Yachiyo made her way onto the school grounds, soaking in every little detail of the property. Even the air around her seemed... denser than usual. The sight of the other, older students, induced a rush of stress coursing through her body. Her cheeks felt hot, and she was sure she was flushed already.

“Thank God...”

The door, promising respite from stepping into the Senior's view, lured a shrill squeak out of the girl. Hastily, Yachiyo straightened out little wrinkles and creases out of her uniform, hectically tugging at and patting the fabric. After craning her neck as far as she could, and judging both front and back to be presentable, the aspiring heroine shuffled towards the section designated for first years like her, where the voices of three other students greeted her. With a quick look-around and a bitten bottom lip, Yachiyo cleared her throat as quietly as she could, and forced a smile onto her lips.

“H-hello everyone! My name is Ookouchi Yachiyo, pleasure to meet you all.” With an eshaku bow lowering her glance, Yachiyo suddenly found the nondescript floor particularly interesting, and much more appealing than direct eye contact, before sliding into an empty seat next to her fellow first year students, her posture stiff and seemingly nailed to the backrest of her seat, face glued towards the empty stage.

Today was the day where Yuki’s life was going to change. It would be the start of his journey to being a hero like his father. Maybe it would be the start of being a hero like his mother. The truth be told, the young aspiring hero had been thinking about this for a long time. It wasn’t just when he had arrived at Ishin Academy. Yuki had been pondering about this for months — years, even. If he was being completely honest with himself, he had been stuck on the eternal question ever since his quirk had activated and his parents, in their own way, talked to him about how happy they were he had his quirk. As heartwarming as it was to see the pride on their faces, though a little less obvious on his father’s face, Yuki knew from that moment he would have this internal conflict about what kind of hero he wanted to be.

What kind of hero do I want to be—

Yuki’s train of thought was interrupted by the sound of the train stopping at the Sapporo train station. He holstered his bag between both of his arms, placing it perfectly on his back. He popped in his earmuff-styled headphones and let the sounds of lo-fi hip-hop surrender all outside noise.

Yuki seemed to make record time when he left the train station and traveled down the main road that led to Ishin Hero Academy. Along the way, he was going over a number of things in his head. He was recalling the interview to get into the school. He also thought about how honored he was to be accepted into the second-best Hero academy across Asia. Would he have liked to go to UA? A small part of him did, yes, but at the end of the day, Yuki tried to keep true to what he been taught. And that was being grateful for what he have while also aiming to be the best in whatever environment he was placed in. Even if Yuki didn’t always show that he was determined to approach this school as he did with everything else.

“Smile wide. Be gracious and friendly. You can do this, Yuki.” He muttered to himself, walking through the gates of Ishin Academy.

As many times as Yuki had looked it up on the internet and saw photos of it, there was nothing like actually being there in person and seeing just how grand of a school it really was. The building, the people around him — it really made Yuki truly blessed to be here, if not freezing him still at the front door that inside.

Yuki’s frozen form was forcibly pushed into the academy by what seemed like impatient students. He heard various forms of the usual ‘move it’, which prompted Yuki to step to the side and allow them free passage. Yuki played an unknowing version of ‘follow the leader’, trailing close behind someone with dark hair.

When he got to the auditorium, he didn’t know what to make of all the people around him. The young teen hesitated to make his introduction to those around him that he heard talking. This was to be the moment he’d never be able to take back. First impressions were everything and they were eternal. The words he said and the way he presented would present himself was something Yuki would never ever be able to take back. Once they were out there, that was it. For better or for worse, this was the moment to impress.

But how? Go in there with minimal reactions and words like his father or blazing with an infectious and boisterous charisma like his mother? Either option presented itself with just as many pros and they did cons and with an infinite amount of reactions resulting from the decision. Whichever choice he made, Yuki made a mental note that it would be made when the time was right.

As he was appointed to the first year batch, Yuki would look at all of them. They seemed to be involved in a current conversation, but Yuki knew he had to make his introduction as clearly and percisely as he could. So he went for it. “Good morning! What a beautiful day it is, right?” He started, finding that to be a good conversation starter. “I am Chikai Yuki. You can call me Yuki.”

What a first impression that’ll make, eh?

Uchimura Mifune was sweatin’.

Sometime after having boarded the bullet train to Sapporo, the anxious teenager was inflicted with the presence of a nemesis most insidious: a decision-point. Stuck within the zooming capsule-vessel, time allowed his enemy to fester like moist darkness to fungi. The decision-point in question: would he trust himself to navigate the rest of the way to Ishin, or would he hopefully find a sounder teenaged mind to shepherd him? If he was to be lost, he would be late - and that, he had been certain, would be the end of him.

The youngster’s feverish mind had worked in triplicate as he sat, thoroughly encaged within himself (a terrible place, to be certain), and conjuring up twin parables with which to torment him.

The first spoke of the winged man, who spat on all the others in his high and mighty confidence, bravado derived from the fact that it was he - and he alone - who could lead his tribe to the promised land, for he bore wings where his brethren remained land-bound. So convinced of his infallibility, he refuted the pleas of his kinsmen who said to him: “that orange ball in the sky that hurts to look at? That can’t be the promised land!”

So, the winged man of the first parable had trusted himself, flew into the sun, and died.

The second spoke of the stranger in the swelter, him of parched throat and weary mind, who spotted the shadow of another man amongst the desert sands. Desperate for oasis, for sanctuary, he hunted the shadow to follow the man. Only, for scorching days and frigid nights, the stranger followed him into nothingness. Finally, unable to withstand the torment any longer, he ripped his parched throat to ribbons screaming: “oi, fucko! Where are you going?” To which the man with the shadow, also dying, replied: “I was running away from you, you creepy stalker!”

And so, both the guide and the follower of the second parable had died as well.

Really, the clashing parables did nothing to help him past his decision-point.

In the end, he needn’t have worried, for - in his infinite worrying - he had become nervous enough where he decided his own thought processes simply weren’t an option to begin with. He followed the sight of the unknown savior in the Ishin uniform, and played the ‘stranger in the swelter’, already convinced he was doomed to agonizing demise and destruction. And as the "man and his shadow" proved to be a worthy guide, a whole host of other panicked thoughts took hold of him - what if, for example, everyone thought he looked a straight goon?

Therefore (and again), while Yachiyo had been announcing herself, Uchimura Mifune was sweatin’.

U-Uchimura Mifune…” He spat out, eyes wide as if bound by traumatic flashback.

The young girl lightly rubbed the sleep out of her eye as she gaped her mouth wide open resulting in quite a big yawn. In tugging manner she was dragging along a roll-suitcase along with the enormous backpack on her back containing all the essentials that her mother found needed for her to have during her time at Ishin. She was strolling over the pavement along-sides the street finding her way to the nearby zeven-eleven that was stationed close to the hotel she had stayed at the night before. Yesterday she had been traveling with the train for over 13 hours and after that she couldn't even find her hotel. That is why she felt dead tired today as well. It was a bit weird for a girl with the age of 14 to be sleeping in a hotel alone. Off course Rin wouldn't be able to afford a hotel on her own so that was sponsored with the complete funding of her parents their money. Rin did already pay the first year tution of school on her own accord with the money she had saved up from working on the farm. She had thought it was the right thing to do, her parents did give her some funding to buy new clothes and enough food on her own even though she did think she would manage without, it was still a nice gift however. Perhaps it was needed at a later stage for school supplies such as notebooks and pens so she did not decline the offer.

Rin stopped for a moment and took a 90 degree turn to find the zeven-eleven in her eyesight. She took a soft gulp as she crossed the street and set down her bags in front of the store next to a bench. Japan wasn't a big country of crime yet, Rin was a bit too trusting by leaving her own bags outside just like that. Timidly she entered the store and took the first food she liked to the counter as breakfast. It was a melon bread and a baumkuchen. With a somewhat awkward look on her face she manage to stammer out that she would like a coffee as well and managed to pay without commenting on the Hokkaido accent the store clerk had. Quietly she ate her breakfast outside while watching the cars drive by the street. It was still early in the morning so she had plenty of time to get to her new school, she was already freshly dressed in her new clothes. The uniform fell a bit big on her but it still looked good, she thought. Never before she had to wear an uniform so it did feel a bit out of the ordinary to dress in something so strict as this. The shoes were a bit cramped to her idea but that was because she was not used to wearing these business type like shoes. Normally rainboots would just fit her boat, instead of socks like most students wear Rin wears dark blue tights in order to hide as much skin as she possibly could. Over her tights she wears the standard Ishin uniform which contains a knee length blue skirt and a sailor fuku on top. She wears her long hair in the same way she would at home, kept together with a large ribbon at the bottom. She made sure to look her tidiest today since it was so important. Rin even went all out with applying makeup to the black lines on her joints so that no one would see them on her hands and neck.

When Rin was finished with her breakfast the jumped up and pulled the heavy backpack back on her shoulders. Uncomfortably she squirmed around as she tried ignoring the hurted spots on her shoulders from carrying the bag this long way from home. Timidly she pulled a map from the side of the bag and looked over it once more to see the red lined route that was marked on the map from the hotel to the school. It wasn't a long walk but it was quite confusing, even more now from the fact that she strayed off course to buy her breakfast. Rin started walking again and followed the map as well as she could in order not to get lost, although it was a good thing that she tried sticking to the map, she paid no heed to her surroundings! She would occasionally stand in the way of cars or bump against other people. After a while of getting closer to her destination she was dead tired of the many people that she had come across. Tokyo had been hell already with her luggage but this city had too many people as well! When Rin finally arrived at the destination of her map she was dumbfounded to not see the school anywhere. The street names did not match her map location either... Had she gone wrong? Unknowingly she had walked around the surroundings some more and found her way to the entrance of the school by pure luck and following other students that wore the Ishin outfit as well.

Upon arrival at the school gates she was met by a huge building right in front of her face. She had been her once before a while back but it still amazed her to see such a vast looking building. It sure was pretty and huge. She still wondered what all these other structures were and if they would be sleeping in the big building or somewhere else. They had plenty of flowery decorative and trees. It did feel somewhat different than the city she had been walking around in. It felt more like a place of its own. Rin tugged along her suitcase and made her way over to the main entrance. The school seemed like a whole maze on its own. Rin watched around her first to see if they could take their luggage with them inside the school as well before would make any mistakes, she followed the other in with her hefty bags.

Like she had thought outside, the inside of this thing was a maze. Rin didn't know where to start or where to ask for the place she was looking for. She tucked away the map that she had held in her hand the whole time and pulled up another piece of paper that was the enrollment paper. Timidly she skimmed over it in the middle of the hallway annoying a lot of people with her wide posture of both her suitcase and bag. Reading over the letter she found out that the opening ceremony would be held in the auditorium.

Unknowing of where the auditorium was she strolled around the school through the hallways for what appeared to be half an hour or so. Eventually she had found the so called place by simply following a few signs that she had found at the entrance of the place she entered at first.

The ceremony didn't appear to have started and looking at her fold-able phone for the time she could tell that she had sometime to spare as well. Rin decided to sit down somewhere for now. She put aside her luggage to the back of the auditorium not knowing if that was the correct way of doing things or if it was safe to do so. Patiently she shoveled forwards to the front of the auditorium near the podium where a few others were already seated. They all wore the exact same uniform and didn't appear that much older than her.

Firstly there was a blue haired girl with a somewhat problem of a wild hair day. A crying guy with a cat tail, she definitly stared at that one for a while. A girl that looked quite wide and someone who could easily kill Rin with a hug and as final a guy who seemed like her mother would ask him to date Rin. Rin promptly decided to sit next to the good looking guy, she didn't know in what year he was in and she knew that it was a thing you would call your seniors your senior but she honestly couldn't tell so she kept her conversation non-biased on year.

"D-domo, is this seat taken..?"

Rin awkwardly greeted Chen and asked for the seat but seemed rather unfazed, she didn't show much of emotion on her face when she asked and did try to be as normal as possible. She tried her hardest not to sound like a country bumpkin, at-least is showed that she wasn't from around the region in the slightest.

Rin her sight fell on the boy his unusual hair after she was done asking the boy her question. Something to do with his quirk? Rin decided not to comment on it and sat down on the closest place to the boy (if the chair wasn't free next to him she would sit further.)

After she had sat down a new girl with too much energy and a too loud voice entered the auditorium. Rin glanced at her for a moment as she awkwardly rubbed the back of her head while lightly nodding her direction in greeting manner.

"D-domo."

Said girl did seem to be off quite high standards when she walked past unlike Rin, perhaps she was from the city. Was it normal to greet everyone in the room like that in these parts? It felt quite odd when she thought about it. Rin dropped her eyes back to the boy next to her and decided for some small talk to kill the time. She didn't know what to talk about so she chose the first thing in mind that was perhaps completely out of the mood right now.

"D-did you see this city already... It is quite big isn't it."

Shortly after she tried talking to Chen once more one other boy enrolled into the auditorium that made himself known as well. He had blonde hair! He must be from another country right!? She wanted to meet him, his hair and voice were so pretty. Rin quietly repeated the proces of greeting anyone that greeted the entire group of sitting students. This time she blushed a little more however. She had never seen anyone with blonde hair before. Did he dye it?

"D-domo."

Osamu Kenzo

Sapporo, Japan
Ishin Academy, April 7th

Interacting With: @Sunbather

Osamu chose this morning to jog, not walk, to the academy once he had exited the train. His father had suggested a much more elegant form of transportation, but Osamu had refused any such offers. It would not do for him to be indulgent prior to beginning his formal education as a Hero. The jog would do him good, and it would set a better example to others. His father had made a great deal of his selflessness, but Osamu was not keen to indulge in such talk either. As his father regularly reminded him, it was not as important to be praised for being a Hero as it was to act in the manner befitting of one. The need for humility among Heroes was yet another notion impressed upon him by his father.

More recently, his father had been raving on the subject of the recent increase of foreigners among the student population at Ishin. Being an alumnus himself, he was mortified to hear they were allowing even one of them at his old school. Anyone that knew Miura Kenzo knew he was renowned for his virulently bigoted views. Osamu remembered hearing that there was a whole channel on that "Youtube" website dedicated to hosting his "greatest hits", which were all the times he had said something controversial about foreigners. Osamu considered himself fortunate these people could not record his father while at home, else they would have far more damning comments to plaster all over the internet. While Osamu did not share his father's passion for the subject, he had come to the conclusion as of late that perhaps it was better that Japan remained dedicated to the Japanese. However, he had no desire to go about offending people if he could help it, and if the foreigners would stay clear of him, then he would stay clear of them.

Upon arriving at their designated gathering place, Osamu was sure he had picked a few foreign faces out of the crowd already. While his face did not betray it, he was already making mental notes of whom to be concerned about. Trying to place foreign concerns out of mind, Osamu turned his attentions to those arriving. Many people were milling about, making greetings and starting conversations. As these people were to be his comrades for some time, it was only fitting he too attempt to get to know as many as he could. Out of all those that spoke out, there was one that caught his attention. It was natural for many people to feel nervous on their first day anywhere, but this "Ookouchi Yachiyo" seemed particularly uncomfortable. While Osamu did not wish to act patronizingly, he did wonder if perhaps it would be best if somebody attempted to assuage her nerves.

Approaching the seat beside her, he began to speak. "Ah, hello. My name is Kenzo Osamu. Would you mind terribly if I sat beside you?" It was only proper to at least ask permission before simply plopping himself down and chatting away, though he would be somewhat surprised to be told not to sit next to her. Hopefully, they could get the awkwardness out of the way quickly.

Sapporo, Japan
Sapporo Station, April 7th

Trains came and went with the passing minutes. Busy passengers would step on or step off the platforms moving throughout their morning commute. It was all so…droll, so average, so normal. This was city life and that was how it went in these big cities. Even though the tall, chubby boy had lived near Nago City all his life; his youth was spent walking from his family’s apartment to school. He’d never had to worry about train schedules or such crowds, at least outside school trips to the mainland. But this morning sojourn was not a trip to Sapporo Station and Ishin Academy; this morning’s trip had been to an early morning grocery market. He’d gotten up at an almost scandalous hour to ride the Minami-Chitose line to a small marketplace in a small Sapporo suburb. The amount he’d paid for this item seemed almost as equally scandalous.

Hugged close to his chest was a large, brown bag. The crisp and cold April air had turned his face red and flushed, and his jacket felt awkward after years in the southern heat. He was far from home, after all. He was busy looking at a station map, fretting on how his path to the school would be. He had to leave Sapporo Station and head…west? East? Which street was it? 3rd Chome Street? Hokkaido University Street?

”You lost kid?” The voice came from behind the young man and startled him: almost making him drop his precious bag. Standing behind the boy was a lanky man wearing a police uniform. He looked out of place in the busy station and was meticulously chewing on an unlit cigarette. His hair was a messy bramble of almost-curls, and his thick eyebrows seemed to narrow in on the schoolboy.

”Y-yes sir,” the boy answered, in a mix of both surprise and a shiver from the cold. He clenched the paper bag close with his left arm, freeing his right hand to adjust his jacket’s collar. “It’s my first day at Ishin Academy and I’m afraid I’m not used to-“

“You take the yellow line stairs out to the street, turn left on 4 Chome, and follow the road til you see the ugly main building.” The police officer seemed to chuckle nostalgically. “If the old fart is still the headmaster of the school, don’t let him freak you out. Ishin likes to act like they’re the most hard-ass school around, but if you’ve been accepted, you’ve already beat the spread.”

”Did you go to Ishin Academy?”

”Yeah. A few years ago. During my last year they decided my quirk wasn’t strong enough to handle a serious situation.” The police officer seemed to look off towards the stairs wistfully, and then turned back to the boy. ”What’s your name?”

”It’s Shun sir. Tanaka Shun. The boy seemed nervous about this overly casual cop already.

”Well Tanaka Shun,” the officer began with a smirk, and he outstretched his hand for the young teenager to shake, ”My name is Kaneda Ryouichi. As an almost-alumnus of Ishin Academy, I wish you good luck in your first year to become a hero. Do your best.”

The sudden well-wishing of this stranger struck a chord in Shun’s heart. He smiled back, and gave a deep bow, almost dropping the paper bag. ”Thank you so much! I will do my best! And thank you for the directions!” He turned back towards the stairs and began to jog towards the school. He had to make it in time before the opening ceremonies, or his time at Ishin Academy might be cut even shorter.

The cop simply watched the boy run off and shook his head, chuckling. He walked by a newspaper stand, seeing one of the headlines being about a local teacher putting down a crime ring. Of course, he knew the operation quite well; it had been on his beat after all. ”Man, I sure hope that kid doesn’t have to deal with Midori,” he chuckled. ”She’d eat him alive.”

Sapporo, Japan
Ishin Academy Front Gate, April 7th

Shun was almost gasping for breath as he dashed through the front gate. Still some time before the morning ceremonies, at least which meant he wasn’t in danger of getting expelled on the spot. Would they expel a late student on the spot? He did his best not to let the nerves get to him. The past few months at home had been bad enough, especially after the phone call from the academy, the acceptance letter and his father’s…words of encouragement. The only person who’d actually been excited to see him go to Ishin Academy was his grandmother. She was so excited she even gave him something for his trip: a yellow scarf.

”It belonged to your dear mother, Shun,” she had told him in the hallway before he took the train north to Sapporo.

His mother.

He did his best not to dwell on such thoughts, hearing other students chattering in the courtyard while others were pushed forward towards the auditorium. Now Shun’s face flushed into something more: embarrassment. He felt so awkward, being taller than many of the first years. Being from Okinawa did little to help either, as his skin tone was much darker than the traditional Japanese students. He wondered if some would assume he was a foreigner. The large paper bag also set him apart, as most students simply carried a bag or suitcase with them.

How would this year even start for him?

Rikuo had left for Ishin two days prior to the entrance ceremony for the sole reason that he would have been too tired to actually go through the first day if he were to attempt to get there the day before. Fujidera was too far and Rikuo knew this all too well. He was thankful that dorms were now a thing or else he would have worried about finding somewhere to stay. It just wouldn't work out if he were to commute back and forth. Hell, he didn't even know if he could visit weekly considering the time he'd spent on the move.

But, he'll burn that bridge when he got there. It wasn't like his parents were requiring him to visit too. He was rather sure that his parents now had a lot of free time on his hands now that they didn't have to worry about him messing up his room for the nth time per month. It was funny, really, how his parents managed to put up with him. However, they did remind him of how strict Ishin was and how he shouldn't mess around in the dorms - a sentiment he put at the back of his mind. He'd just do what he wanted to do and see where that gets him.

He spent one day in a small inn that allowed for him to collect his thoughts and put off some first-day nervousness. It wasn't his first time going to the other side of Japan, but it still was pretty nerve-wracking since he knew that neither of his parents were close enough to call when he needed something. Ah, but you know what? All this pent up nervousness wasn't going to help him. He managed to stave it off by drawing some characters on his notebook and then promptly falling asleep - letting his nervousness slip by as he slept through the night.

So, he was refreshed and ready to go when the next day rolled in and he headed straight for Ishin Academy. He remembered some of his friends questioning his choice of going to Ishin without trying out for the more famous UA. Honestly, for all the fame it has, Rikuo actually found the strict and disciplined Ishin to be a breath of fresh air. Even if a lot of people told him that he wasn't exactly the most disciplined of people, Rikuo still thought Ishin was perfect for him. Didn't stand out as much as the rival school but still pumped out excellent heroes. What more could he ask for?

He swiftly went through the courtyard, only bothering to look at it for a second and committing it to memory before heading over to the auditorium along with the other students who were filing in. Rikuo headed over to where the first years would be seated and noticed that there was already quite a number talking among themselves. Did they know each other? As he drew closer and heard that they were actually introducing themselves, they might actually just be friendly people who want to get to know their potential classmates.

Deciding that perhaps that would be the best course of action, he bounded up and waited for the last one to introduce themselves to finish before following up with his own. He bowed his head. "Watanamiya Rikuo, pleasure to meet y'all." He tried to sound as polite as possible. He didn't want his first impression to be rude and condescending. That would just be wrong, right? Best to make allies and friends in school so it'd be easier when you become a pro-hero right? Though in thinking this, he didn't even bother to hide his Osakan accent - and honestly, he didn't really care about it.

After that, however, he distanced himself from the group that were talking among themselves and sat down beside this cat-like person who seemed to be looking down. "Hey." He started, trying to gauge what kind of reply he would get before softly adding, "You alright?" The guy seemed to be crying. Did he hurt himself somehow? Or was there something else in play? Rikuo wasn't insensitive enough to loudly ask about it and he hoped the cat-guy didn't mind his interjection.

Bullet trains were sometimes quite boring. Or at least, they killed Fuyumi's mood a great deal. It was true that she had never been away this far from home ever in her life, but hailing from Tokyo, she had been used to crowds, and she had grown numb and deaf with the passing of hordes of people, all shapes and sizes. Of course, she sometimes picked up the discordant details from crowds. She had to, in order to not grow insane from the wait.

She had seen the Isshin uniform several times in the train. There was at least a couple of other people who had taken the voyage to Sapporo in order to join the prestigious academy. Well, I may be able to befriend one or two so I won't spend all my holidays in the institution with all the other destitute kids. Pocket money is still an issue though. The young girl thought, and then her stomach churned. She of all things, had decided to act as a parent for once, when she had never tried to do so in all the years had been alive. Probably the news had reached that addled brain of hers, and perhaps there was a smidge of pride in the woman who had her own daughter attend Isshin academy. So she had set some parting gifts for Fuyumi, that woman. A second hand book of Gray's Anatomy. As well as an envelope full of money. It was a bittersweet gift. Both things in Fuyumi's mind, were stained of blood and violence. That was money the gangsters had paid her mother for her services. And that book had once belonged to her father.

Still, Fuyumi managed to snap out of her brooding, as she clutched the bag and entered the auditorium without much fuss. Granted, the directions had been a bit iffy at best, but for a city girl like herself, this meant just a little setback and nothing too major. She set apart a couple of creases in her skirt, and drove a hand through her hair as she kept advancing towards the row of seats of the first year students. She could already picture what they where whispering about her. Doll. Shortstuff. Vampire. Some might even think she was one of the cutest students.

She found a place to seat, alright. Right next to a huge, tan student with the ugliest scarf she could have ever seen. Really, a yellow scarf? Why not put a "Kick me" sign on your back while at it? Of course, that made the contrast between her and him more pronounced but, she did not care much about it. She gave him a more meaningful stare with her crimson eyes. Other ignorant fools would've called him a gaijin, but a life in Roppongi meant she was used to seeing actual foreigners much more. He was just a tanned student. Maybe he had a beach house in Okinawa. She figured it would useful to be nice to him. He did after all, gave the same vibe as one would expect from a huge, dumb friendly dog. He also seemed a little stunned by the hub bub.

So after sitting without saying anything, she poked his shoulder gently. "Hey hey, big lug. Don't look so spaced out. Stay sharp.". She said. "This academy is a feeding ground. You don't want to be like that guy over there, do you?" She indicated Shun with her gaze the position where an unfortunate Daiki had been... well, sobbing. "You look like you could use some help and a friendly face. I could use someone to pick stuff from the tall shelves. Our interests coincide." She paused. "Just think of this as you know..." She added, what would be a good comparison to this kind of fella? "Diving? So stay calm and don't let anything get to your mood." She finished. Was she forgetting something. "Oh, I'm Asakura Fuyumi. Call me Fuyumi-chan and I will use your scrotum as my next wallet. Just kidding. Maybe." She finished, beaming her best smile.

Yachiyo's fingers had curled into loose fists, resting on her thighs, eyes fixed upon the ground. Her own introduction flashed before her mind's eye, in exceedingly embarrassing variations. The more she observed her soon-to-be classmates, the stiffer and faker she felt, causing a thin film of sweat to appear on her forehead. With a muted "Gah" squeezing through her throat, Yachiyo looked up at the boy who had approached her, and quickly threw up her hands in defenseless denial.

“N-no, not tall, I mean, not at all! Please,” she gestured to the seat next to her, almost like a some sort of usher, the polite smile carved into her face. “My name is Ookouchi Yachiyo,” she repeated, quickly flushing red upon realizing her repition, following up with a rapid fire "It's-very-nice-to-meet-you!" platitude. Somewhere, in the back of her mind, she felt like she had seen the boy before, but couldn't place his face, even with the name. “Everyone is being very timely, aren't they? That's a relief!” She did, indeed, welcome to proper behavior by her future comrades.

With a passing glance, Yachiyo scanned over the newly-arrived, and sizable, Shuun, throwing a little squint his way upon seeing the short girl with the weird face whisper to him; her posture reminded Yachiyo of old movie villains. Shaking her head, the girl scolded herself for her judgemental attitude, and returned to Kenzo.

“You don't happen to live in Ashiya? O-or perhaps in Kobe?” The feeling of familiarity was eating her up, but she just couldn't quite reach out and nail down her impression. “I... am too forward, please forgive me. I just have this feeling that... Have we met before, by any chance?”

Everybody's so Calm.

Daiki's tail was swaying behind him in a sort of nervous wagging. Its so strange to be the only one crying here. So many people were introducing and announcing themselves so causally. Like it was nothing for them to make it to this school, maybe they had better quirks than him. Which isn't out of the realm of possibility, no, its very much in the realm of possibility. His quirk is pretty much useless on its own. Daiki had to train and work harder than anybody here he guessed, he had to push himself to his limits, and beyond to even be considered, but is hard work paid off and that's why he's crying. Also the fact that there was so many cute people at this school already got his heart beating in a different manner.

People were introducing themselves like its the easiest thing in the world. While he was here crying like a loser. Some people were looking at him like the freak that he was, crying because he was so happy. How strange. What a weirdo. But when a boy asked if he was okay out of the blue, Daiki jumped in his seat for as he was wiping the last of his genuine tears from his eyes. Daiki's tail was standing up straight before it went back to a relaxed sway. His tears stopped falling.

"I am alright, don't let these tears fool you, I'm very happy." Daiki said with a beaming smile now. "I never actually thought I make it, y'know?" Daiki said earnestly. Which the boy should take in because he's not gonna hear much truths from this boy from this point on. "Your name was Rikuo, right?" Daiki asked their previous crying fit all but gone now except for his reddish eyes from said fit. "it's nice to meet you, I am Hanamura Daiki, but you can call me Daiki and any honorifics are fine with me." Daiki said casually. Daiki than smiled mischievously and decided to comment on their accent. "Are you Osakan, by the way? You have a cute accent."

Chen had to hold back a chuckle at the tense attitude of Yoshiba, he could already tell what type of girl she was. All business, pushing to be the best of the best, probably wanted to go to UA but had to settle for Isshin. She absolutely refused to look at Chen, but her hair gave her away. She was paying full attention to the boy and he was going to make sure she kept doing so, maybe break through her stony exterior while he was at it. "I can use any honorific I want huh? Hmm... well then, I know what I'm going to call you from now on." His smug grin grew just a little wider as he leaned towards Yoshiba, hovering over Takara a little in doing so. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Yoshi-tan." Was it a little mean that he was trying to get a reaction out of someone he just met. Maybe a little bit. But it just wasn't healthy to be that tense on such an important day.

Which is perfectly embodied by the girl who just asked if the seat next to him was taken, looking like she was about to have a breakdown any second. "It's empty isn't it? As far as I'm concerned, that means you have the pleasure of sitting next to me." Chen winked as he said this, his natural charisma practically oozing off of him as he motioned for her to sit down. Another girl entered the auditorium as well, another first year was his guess. She introduced herself to everyone quite loudly, which was the only reason she had managed to catch his attention really, but what kept his attention was how stiff she was. She looked like a robot almost, her joints weren't moving at all. "Jeez, you guys really need to chill. It's like you're all showing up to your own execution and not one of the most prestigious academies around." He leaned back into his chair and sighed, showing how relaxed he was. "Come on, today is the beginning of our journey into becoming heroes! Put a smile on your face, you made it!" Chen announced to everyone in the room loudly, earning himself a few peculiar looks from older students.

"D-did you see this city already... It is quite big isn't it." Chen's attention swerved back to the girl who had just sat next to him. Oh right, she wanted to talk to him. Chen's smile went away for a second as he looked at the ceiling thoughtfully, was Sapporo really that big? Maybe she wasn't from a big city like he was, so he supposed it could be considered pretty big.

"Yeah, I guess it's pretty big. But you should see my hometown Tokyo, it makes Sapporo look like a place out in the sticks!" Chen's smile quickly came back as he laughed a little at the end of his statement. Someone else came to introduce himself, prompting Chen to introduce himself once again. "Adachi Chen. It's a pleasure to meet you and it's a pleasure to meet me." Truly Chen's arrogance knew no bounds.

He was motionless; the train was not. Stepping off of the bullet train on this fine (if a bit chilly) day, was a boy of green hair, a look of disinterest plastered all over his face. The ride could've been shorter, but it could've also been longer. If anything, he'd only wished he hadn't placed himself next to someone that'd turn out to be so talkative. Seikatsu, or Katsu, as he so often calls himself (less syllables, less effort), wasn't one adverse to listening. It was rambling that he was adverse to. No complaints could be voiced. Perhaps life was preparing him for the long drawn out speech one can expect at entrance ceremonies.

His attendance to the academy was a bit of a weird circumstance. No one would suspect him of having any interest in being a hero, nor would he suspect it of himself. Even to this day, now that his first day at IA is about to begin, his sole reason for joining was because a flyer that smacked him dab in the face told him to. Truly a reason that any normal individual would laugh off as nonsense. If only it were.

If only it were.

The academy itself wasn't hard to find, despite how bustling the city of Sapporo was today. Directions were easy to follow when one had a map, and even more so when one actually does some research about where the school they'll be attending is located. The number of people Seikatsu spotted wandering about with no clue as to where to go filled him with a mix of amusement and disappointment. Already, some of Ishin's ranks were proving themselves to be unworthy of their placement. Not that he was much better. Doing things on a whim probably wasn't very hero-like, outside of matters pertaining to saving lives and stomping villainy.

The uniform was plain enough for his liking — he wouldn't stand out enough for it that he'd feel eyes following him as he made his way to the academy. The green mop on his head and his pink orbs were more likely to draw attention than anything else about his person.

It wouldn't be long before Seikatsu approached the illustrious establishment, every bit as adorned with fanciness as one might expect of the second most presitigious hero academy in Japan. He didn't care much for popularity and fame. He'd have just as soon attended any other academy had their respective fliers just so happened to have smacked him dab in the face. Ishin's was the one that did, though, and theirs was the academy he'd be attending.

Snaking through the various crowds that lined the many hallways of the school, Seikatsu made his way towards where the ceremony would be taking place. Separate sections were set up for each student year. The male could tell without even looking that the first years were already far too rambunctious for his liking. Almost all of those who'd arrived somehow seemed of the type that would approach someone on a whim to introduce themselves. He thought himself well to stand nearer the outer edges of their designated section, though not so far that he wasn't completely free of a crowd. Solitude attracts attention. Hopefully it wouldn't be long now, before their headmaster would grace the stage and plug their ears full of formalities.

Even though Tokyo was long gone out of sight, Jin Takahashi sat on the bullet train with her face turned toward home. She slumped in her seat, clinging to her suitcase and running her fingers over a uniform jacket that was still too new. For all of her boasting and boldness in the entrance exam, she was nervous about Ishin.

Leaving her family this morning had been hard. Her aunt had been crying, just a bit, and even her uncle had given her a rare hug.

“Jin-chan, please be good.”

“Yes, I will.”

“Call us if you need anything at all.”

“Of course, uncle.”

“And… try to make friends? Maybe if you’re nice to them, they’ll be nice back?”

Jin couldn’t quite recall what she’d said in response to that; certainly some mild and pleasing platitude. Uncle Tairo had been so hopeful, so eager for her to be a regular, happy student. It almost hurt that he was so wrong. The world didn’t work that way – no one was signing up to be her friend. The good thing about Ishin is that she wouldn’t have to worry about that. She’d be surprised if they let her hafu-ass in the door without comment. She was further surprised to find tears blurring her vision, and she muttered curses at herself as she brushed at her eyes.

No, there would be no time for that. If she went in weak, they’d spit her out and it’d be proof that she was inferior. She inhaled slow, and let the soothing noise of the train bolster her. Nevous about Ishin? No! Ishin should be nervous about her!

The remaining ride was altogether too short and too long, as it slid into the station. Jin had already programmed the local map into her phone, and stood in front of the academy before too long. The jacket itched. Her shoes felt too loose. Already she could pick out her upperclassmen, who were more or less relaxed. She could see the backs of other first years, all heading to the same place. Well, there was nothing for it. She hoisted her suitcase and followed the trail of new people to a usual looking auditorium.

Already, it was filling with students. Ugh, and they were talking already. She could already feel the stares as she hovered in the doorway. Her stomach twisted with the usual anxiety. They would probably talk about her now. She braced her shoulders, showed a glint of teeth and walked right into claim a seat in the front. Let them stare.
