Name|Aliases Gekko Mayumi | Mayu
Age|Gender 12 | Female
Clan|Rank Gekko | Academy Student
Affiliations Konohagakure
Characterization & Prestige Mayumi is well known to be the kind of girl that lets curiosity get the better of her. Due to a shut-in lifestyle, she feels she has a lot of catching up to do in the world and will jump at the chance to experience something new. She has a heart that believes everyone has some shred of goodness in them, and is forgiving to a fault in that she is willing to give those who've wronged her more than their fair share of second, third, or fourth chances. Despite trying to become a ninja, a life that is very likely to involve violence, she believes in trying to find a nonlethal solution. Criminals can't exactly repent or understand what they've done wrong if they're dead, after all. Due to a phobia of blood, this also extends to her simply fearing mortality.
Whenever she feels particularly scared due to her phobia or due to an otherwise tense situation, she'll mentally retreat in the form of hiding her face with the white-red cat mask she carries on her. A memento of her grandfather, she feels stronger while wearing it and will calm down even the slightest bit needed to do what needs to be done.
A strange and more uncommon quirk she'd prefer to keep secret is her fascination with samurai. Considering the history between ninja and samurai, it's much more like an admiration out of respect than supporting their cause against the ninja.
She's very self conscious and reserved, as well, when not preoccupied by the desire to learn. Preferring to dress conservatively most days, she gets by wearing elegant yet practical family kimonos. She dreams of one day dressing as a noble ronin, robed and wandering as a woman of mystery with fiery confidence. "Fastest blade in the Land of Fire," she'd like to call herself. In regards to this, the aesthetic aspect of being a ninja is a massive part of it for her. In addition to doing her part for society she wants to feel like the heroes she looked up to and read about when she was younger, and still does to this day.
She's known for being below average in most skills required to succeed as a ninja, and doesn't yet know how to even bring forth her element, with the exception of her skill and accuracy with weapons which far exceeds her years.
Origin Story Mayumi was born to the Gekko clan one among many climbing atop each other for the privilege of being taught the special moonlight swordsmanship that clan heads have been known to cultivate and pass on to the brightest among the next generation. She spent her time mostly as a spectator, watching in-house tournaments and taking notes of the winner's tactics. From a young age she was passionate about learning swordsmanship but would never be permitted to pick one up. "It's not your time yet," the adults would say. And so she spent day in and day out stuck indoors, reading and studying rather than practicing.
Her only prolonged interactions with the outside world were during classes at the academy, but even then she was always picked up and brought home by her parents virtually from the moment her daily studies were concluded. She never understood, and there was more than a few screaming matches the older she got. It was around this time she truly began to feel that something was strange about the way she was being treated by her family. More like an object than a person, in her extremely dramatic preteen mind.
When the students were finally trusted with weapon training at the academy, her reputation as being a below average meek student flipped. Her hands steady, she could quickly adapt to hitting targets with her kunai and shuriken from various angles, and far exceeded expectations as it concerned swordsmanship. A bokken in hand was like dancing with an old friend, her mind appearing focused as if her sparring partner was a candlelight in a dark room. She quickly gained a reputation among her class as a weapon prodigy, which sparked both admiration in some students and jealousy in others. It's primarily through her ability with weapons that she might earn a scholarship to continue her studies at the academy.
Character Development & Conceptualization OOC Goals: I want to flesh out the Gekko clan, their place in the world and most importantly, the moonlight sword/afterimage kenjutsu style that got disgustingly little play in the actual series with only one real move ever shown from it. On top of that, I want to see what the dangers of ninja life can do to change Mayumi as well as all the other genin on a journey not reliant on Sharingan eye hax. For that purpose I've tried to tone her down from typical Naruto "prodigy" characters by giving her a slew of negatives as well.
IC Goals: Mayumi wants to become the "Fastest blade in the Land of Fire" like something out of an old school samurai movie. With the twist of her having moonlight powers and ninjutsu, of course. She'd either like to become a Special Jonin specializing in bukijutsu, or improve on her faults enough to become a regular Jonin or ANBU. More ambitious than that she's always looked up to the Hokage and would revel at the chance to gain that position some day; at the same time however, she dreads the paperwork and bureaucracy associated with the position, as well as the implication that she'd have to spend even more time tied to the village rather than exploring. In addition to wanting to serve her people however, she also wants to become a ninja for superficial reasons such as the aesthetic of being a mysterious guardian. In that regard her ideals would come into conflict quite well with the traditionalists of the Haibara, I think..
Triple T's
Talents
Weapon Prodigy: Mayumi is well beyond her years as it relates to weapons and ninja tools. Quick and accurate with kunai and shuriken, elegant and reactive with swords, tactical and mindful with polearms, destructive and powerful with hammers and axes, and so on. All conventional weaponry comes naturally to her, and though ineligible to train with more complex weapons yet, it's likely the same for those as well.
Observant: Spending a lot of her life as an observer, she is quick to pick up and learn things visually. This could be something basic, or something more complex like how posture correlates to how hostile a suspicious individual is, how confident they are, any physical weaknesses to be taken advantage of, and so forth. She also does her best to use this talent to mimic the forms and styles of those more powerful than her, taking it all in as inspiration for her own fighting style.
Instinctual: Though most of the time she exhibits more symptoms of the typical bookworm type, she's terrible at formulating complex plans. Rather, once somebody else has laid out the groundwork for her, with weapons in hand her movements are practically on autopilot. Her every move is not calculated, but rather something she feels out from second to second. In this way there is a negative to be taken out of it, in that she's relying on her natural talent to get by, but it hasn't failed her yet.
Fast: A trait that goes hand in hand with accuracy, Mayumi has trained herself to focus more on agility than endurance or raw power. To this end her goal is to end battles quickly, or retreat and recover for a second wave if she begins to feel tired. This also allows her the advantage of more acrobatics, adapting to verticality in the environment quite well and taking advantage of her surroundings.
Flute Player: While not the biggest music connoisseur, Mayumi loves the flute as a convenient and compact instrument to be played for her own enjoyment whenever. It's a huge factor as well in the "aesthetic" of a noble shinobi that she holds so dearly. Music also has the powerful ability to lift spirits in dark times, so she treasures how something so simple can bring joy. Above all, she simply enjoys the sounds a flute makes.
Name: Gekko Style: New Moon Description: A less complex variant of the Hazy Moon Night Jutsu, in which Mayumi takes advantage of an afterimage to make it look as if her off-hand is also carrying a weapon, and rushes the opponent quickly in an effort to confuse them, feinting with the afterimage weapon while striking with the real weapon.
Name: Gekko Style: Counterslash Description: In the blink of an eye, Mayumi conjures an afterimage clone in front of her taking up a perfect defensive stance, while she hides behind it mimicking the exact same stance, convincingly enough that only those more perceptive or with a Dojutsu would be able to easily figure out the ruse while approaching from directly in front. Should the afterimage be struck, the real Mayumi behind the afterimage slashes while the attacker is still wide open from their swing.
Miscs
I suppose if it qualifies, Mayumi would count as one of the three "prodigies" as per the quota? Also, if we're each going to have a unique dialogue color, I call dibs on the light blue used in my character quote.
"Known throughout the Five Shinobi Nations, the reputation of a mighty hero echoes far and wide! When they speak of her impossible taijutsu skill and raw physical might, they're talking about me - The Incredible Soul Lee!"
Character Fields
Name|Aliases Lee Soul
Age|Gender 13/Female
Clan|Rank Lee/Student
Affiliations Konohagakure Physical Description Standing at 140 centimeters tall and weighing 42 kilograms, Soul is easily on the smaller side of the spectrum in terms of size - however, this is not indicative of her personality in the slightest. Whether because she was born as a girl into the Lee clan, or she was simply lucky, she lacks the thick eyebrows and dark hair that are characteristic of her clan. Her hair is cider brown, and kept short due to how longer hair is easier to grab in close quarters. Fitting for her small stature, Soul's voice is high-pitched, yet she can easily talk over most people in a room and grab attention quickly.
She wore the signature green jumpsuit of the Guy and Lee clans when she was beginning her training, but once her favorite training spot was taken by Kaminarimon Corporation's rapid expansion and construction, she adopted an orange mechanic's jumpsuit to protect against the large amount of soot and grime. Ever since then, she rarely wears anything other than the jumpsuit, only wearing formal clothes in the most necessary of cases. She wears very thick steel-toed boots, due to a time when she stepped on a nail in the Freight yard, forcing her to rest for weeks without training. When performing her "Hero Work," Soul wears a black Fukumen and Zukin on her head in order to "Hide her secret identity." In reality, it is to pay homage to the ninja that saved her life as a child.
Characterization & Prestige Soul is hot-headed, extremely stubborn, thickheaded, and is overall a very dramatic person. She rarely uses an inside voice, and seems to do her best to appear larger than life, despite her very small size. One of her most obvious traits is that she gives herself grandiose titles, typically lying blatantly about her achievements, or embellishing and exaggerating them to ridiculous proportions. She is addicted to the idea of being a "Hero," doing her best to help as many people in the village as possible, even at the expense of her own free time and her grades - to the point where she would commit incredible sacrifices for the most petty and insignificant of reasons if it meant someone else was less inconvenienced. Soul sticks extremely close to a set of morals and rules, which she follows with ironclad focus and usually murmurs to herself when a situation related to them comes up - the very first of which being that she does not use genjutsu or ninjutsu, as Taijutsu is, in her eyes, the most "Pure and Heroic" of the standard Ninja arts (As well as the fact that it costs a large amount of money to learn techniques in the modern day...). Due to her intense following of the rules, her absolute devotion to her training and volunteerism, and the eagerness she reports violations to the Konoha police force, Soul has made very few friends of her age, leaving her almost a social pariah among her peer group.
Most of the children her age view Soul as a goody-two shoes and a snitch, but most adults, especially the ones that work in the freight yard where she trains and the police force, see her as an incredibly hard worker and someone who does her best to help others.
Origin Story Soul was born as a member of the Lee clan, and the single child to her mother and father. Soul spent the earliest parts of her childhood with very little struggle or want for anything, even though her clan wasn't known for their fabulous wealth. She had little plans for her adult life, mostly enjoying the here and the now. She occasionally got into trouble because of her short temper and hotheadedness, but she never seriously tried to hurt anyone and usually was the one to end up worse off after starting a fight. She was a far cry from her current self, which didn't begin to arise until she was eight.
At the age of eight, Soul became lost while playing in the woods - she never discovered how far she had gotten away from Konoha, but she didn't return to the village until nearly two days had passed. After collapsing from exhaustion and nearly blacking out, a ninja from Otogakure discovered her - after feeding and giving her water, he had explained that he was a chuunin on a (D-ranked) mission to gather supplies from Konoha and to return back to his village. He had quickly returned Soul to Konoha, despite the fact that he had already gathered the supplies needed to complete his mission. The ninja left without asking for any reward, before Soul could even ask his name. His kindness had left a massive impact on Soul's life and development, sparking her burning passion for becoming a hero and ninja.
From then on, she trained nearly every day, doing her best to replicate the ninja that had saved her life. Due to the Lee clan having a lack of funds compared to many other clans in Konoha (a large chunk of which were being spent simply to send Soul to the academy), Soul was forced to rely on the taijutsu her family was known for in order to accoplish her goals. She entered the academty as soon as possible, and even with intense practice in taijutsu and her physical training, she refused to learn any form of ninjutsu or genjutsu - combined with her poor academics, this quickly gave her some of the lowest grades in her class. She is still seen as one of the worse in her class, both due to her self-imposed restrictions and her unwillingness to use techniques outside of her limited specialization (AKA, literally anything besides Taijutsu and Shurikenjutsu)
Character Development & Conceptualization OOC: I'd love to see the massive differences between the Taijutsu of old and the rapid development of technology in the modern age. Even more than this, I'd like to see how an extremly stubborn and rigid character like Soul would interact with other ninja her own age - especially if they went against her moral compass. Or if She was ever put in a position where she was forced to go against her own self-imposed rules in order to save people.
IC: Soul wants to help as many people as humanly possible, viewing her life as a gift from the ninja that saved her life - she could care less about ninja ranks, and only pursues higher ranks in order to take higher ranking missions, that could help more people. She wishes to eventually help all the people of Konoha accomplish their dreams, but even more than this, she wishes to find and thank the ninja that had saved her life and led her down the path to being a true hero.
Conceptualization: While initially starting off very similar to both Rock Lee and Might Guy, I tried to differentiate her heavily by making her motivations far more different. Rather than trying to be a "ninja that only uses taijutsu," I attempted to use the lack of prevalence that the Lee clan holds to excuse the lack of focus on other jutsu - in the modern day, learning many jutsu is very expensive due to commercialization, and some people simply can't afford that. This is exemplified in the fact that Soul's skill in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu is never mentioned - she simply does not care if she is skilled in their use, as she cannot afford to learn any even if she was. While both her and Rock Lee have strong moral compasses, they differentiate heavily in personality - Rock Lee is polite, refuses to give up, and is not above using dangerous taijutsu on his opponents (seriously, the front and reverse lotus are ridiculously deadly). Soul, meanwhile, is brash, quick to anger and steadfast in her morals, her strict training caused more by her extremely potent discipline and adherence to her self-imposed rules, rather than Rock Lee's motivation and perseverance to be a ninja.
Triple T's
Talents
Mechanics Perhaps "Repairs" would be a better descriptor, but Soul's skill in fixing and operating machinery far exceeds her skill in fixing most other things. Due to her devoting all time not used for training to help out the people of Konoha, Soul has a large degree of experience with repairing things that most villagers were too lazy or confused to fix themselves - usually things such as doors or creaky doorsteps. Her real experience comes from the Freight Yard she trains in - the employees there have used her as cheap labor as she would work for a simple "Thanks" - as a result, she has become very intimate with complex machinery, which is jarring considering she is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
Taijutsu It is no surprise that a member of the Lee clan is skilled in Taijutsu - compared to most members of her clan, Soul is not especially unique in her taijutsu skill or physical traits. Despite this, compared to the average ninja, she is a taijutsu specialist of extreme prowess, if only due to the fact that most ninja don't focus on taijutsu as heavily as their ninjutsu. She refuses to learn fatal techniques, as killing is against her moral code.
Physical Fitness Soul is incredibly devoted to her physical training, and is supported entirely in this effort by her Clan members. She had been training ever since she was saved by a ninja from Otogakure at the age of 8, and has trained 5-6 days a week ever since, usually for 6 hours or more. At her current level of physique, she puts the vast majority of ninja to shame physically - her large degree of strength and moderate skill in shurikenjutsu has allowed her access to a very unique fighting style. She is incredibly fast, to the point where few can match her speed - and her large amount of stamina makes those that can keep up with her unlikely to do so for long.
Pain tolerance/Durability Even with her Physical Fitness being ridiculous for someone her age, Soul is exemplary when it comes to the amount of pain and damage she can take without falling unconscious. She had been especially focused this trait during her training, upon realizing the danger being a shinobi presented. While she rarely uses the Eight Gates outside of her training, this Pain Tolerance has allowed her to fight far longer than most people should, and minor injuries are sometimes completely ignored - The fact that she cannot feel paper cuts anymore was a source of great amusement to younger children in the village. This freakish resilience to pain has made her a natural Eight Gates user.
Shurikenjutsu The only form of Ranged combat that Soul is willing to use, she is fairly average when it comes to normal shurikenjutsu - her real talent comes when she uses heavier ranged weapons. Due to her intense training, she is physically strong enough to throw far heavier objects than others would be able to, with similar speed and accuracy to those using lighter weapons. This has resulted in her using ridiculously sized objects that she finds mid battle as ranged weapons.
Tools Weights Weights, one of the cornerstones in tools for the Lee clan. They are worn around the ankles, and weigh enough where Soul only moves slightly faster than other students her age. When doing upper body exercises and practicing her punching, she wears the weights on her arms instead. In serious situations, Soul will use her Shurikenjutsu skills to throw the weights at opponents, usually when they are too far away to hit with taijutsu. Her weights are only removed in the event of a serious fight that has very high stakes or results in the suffering of other people.
Senbon Senbon are metal needles, pointed at both ends. While mostly seeing use in medical ninjutsu and assassination, Soul uses them as a ranged weapon when no improvised weapons are found. She carries dozens, if not hundreds on her person at all times.
Eight Gates (Soul is barely able to open the 3rd gate during her training, and she is unable to use the 3rd gate in combat at all due to the stress on her body.) Strong Fist
Miscs
Soul's strict adherence to her self-imposed restrictions and her refusal to use ninjutsu or genjutsu has caused her to be one of the weaker members of her class, despite her incredibly powerful taijutsu and physical form.
Soul refuses to use the Eight Gates unless people's lives are at stake.
Bakuto isn't a prodigy, he is a blind 'kid' working his way through becoming a shinobi. He is far from useless for his blindness left him with a bit of uniqueness. Bakuto fights, trains and studies every way to make himself a shinobi to prove you don't have to have sight to see. His skills he excels at taijutsu, kenjutsu, Bukijutsu and basic shinobi skills. With superior senses and having a rather unique way of thinking. His only lacking area is ninjutsu and genjutsu. He can use very little ninjutsu and cannot use any genjutsu.
Origin Story
Bakuto was born in Konohagakure, to the Yamanaka clan. He was a rather small baby, was rather sick most of the time when he was a baby. During a rough night tragedy fell, a fire enveloped the house. Fire caused natural causes by a lightning storm. Bakuto life saved by leaf jounin but he was left blind from the smoke and flames of the fire. His parents died in the fire and he was to live with others of the Yamanaka clan.
Early on when he was four or five he was put into the shinobi academy, many believed he would fail the entrance exam. He passed but barely, he was put into the academy with many thought he would fail. He didnt and hasnt failed yet, showing he quickly grasped the early understanding of shinobi skills and the shinobi creed
. Present day, Bakuto trains constantly. Honing his skills, and trying to become a full fledge shinobi worthy of graduation from the academy. Bakuto often is found in the academy's training fields or in the class rooms studying.
Character Development & Conceptualization Bakuto's goals are to become a great shinobi, but his goals are much further than that. Wanting to prove that without sight that he can see better than anyone from clans gifted with visual abilities. His hope is one day he will be able to sit on the seat of Hokage, with his disabilities and own personal gifts.
Personal Goals/(my goals) for the character, Bakuto to grow and develope as a character. Develop in ways Bakuto's own personal goals might change. Build him up in whatever way the rp goes.
Triple T's
Talents Great sense of hearing, smell and touch. With his blindness came a heightening of his other senses. His hearing his almost on par with a dog, the same with his hearing. His touch he can feel the slightest vibrations. Put together with tracking skills Bakuto can follow and track most people.
Visual Genjutsu Slight Immunity, Baktuo is slightly immune to visual genjutsu. Not that he cannot be put in genjutsu but genjutsus that requires him to see something doesn't affect him most of the time. Under certain visual genjutus are exceptions. Other genjutsus though are effective if not even more so.
Bakuto can cook, his skills in cooking are rather good. Being blind or whatever his skills when it comes to cooking are really good. He also enjoys cooking from time to time.
Bakuto also is a bit of a strategist, likes playing games of chess/or shogi thinks that requires thinking. He is rather good at them even though he goes at them most of the time in unique ways. Often combing paper bombs to things to increase their speed, or adding flamable liquads to his tools and setting them ablaze.
Bakuto has a ear for music, he cannot sing but he can nearly play any instrument given to him. Often enough one can hear him humming to himself when he is trying to focus.
Has a talent for Taijutsu and a knack for using ninja tools in rather weird but effective ways. Tools 3x rolls of wire 12x kunai 12x shuriken 30x paper bombs sometimes more but most of the time 30 and presently only 30 12x smoke bombs 10x flash bombs 10x chakra/strength enhancing food pills 1x bottle of sake labeled 'disinfectant' 2x bags to carry all his tools 1x tanto sword/sheath Techniques

"Mako, heir to the Shimura clan. Let's all get along, yeah?"
Character Fields
Name|Aliases Shimura Mako
Age|Gender 13 | Female
Clan|Rank Shimura | Academy Student
Affiliations Konohagakure
Characterization & Prestige Mako, while not necessarily a rebel, rarely pays attention during class. The extensive research she does at her family's behest renders her as having the personality and mannerisms of a no-good slacker to her peers, and unfocused to her instructors, due to how fatigued she always is. Being quite socially awkward and afraid of backlash, she has never quite managed to voice these problems properly to anyone, choosing to take the fall for it herself rather than speak out about being overworked. That's not to say she doesn't have friends, but is still trying to work out how to come out of her shell to become more comfortable being in the spotlight. For now though, she's known to be very matter of fact and to the point, stating things plainly and only using the required words to get information across. There's been such a lack of words spoken from her mouth, in fact, that when combined with her choice of attire some are still confused as to whether she's male or female. As an aside, she is also notorious for being dreadful at Genjutsu, as she feels it makes her tired and sluggish even if she's not the one being targeted by it.
Origin Story From an early age, Mako has had expectations placed upon her for greatness. Born into the Shimura clan as the firstborn of the next generation, she is to one day inherit the secrets the clan has to offer and undergo full training in their specialties, including their ties to elephant summoning contracts such as the Baku. Her parents still very much traditionalists, they have taken their rivalry with the Sarutobi clan very seriously throughout the years. Obsessively so, in fact; such that when they heard of the next generation of Sarutobi children coming about, they ensured that they would train their own Shimura heir to become as perfect as possible from a young age.
Unfortunately, as it turns out, placing pressure and burdens on a child from a young age can cause them to shut down or develop odd behavior. Such was the case for Mako, who was forced to excel at a rapid pace in Fuinjutsu and research of the elephant summoning animals and their culture to one day form her own contract with them. Every night from an early age, she was pushed physically and mentally to prove that the superior clan between the Shimura and the Sarutobi was the former, and to make her a worthy heir of clan secrets faster than their Sarutobi rivals. Whether Mako knew of whether the Sarutobi clan took this rivalry as seriously as the Shimura, she never found out - her parents would find ways to separate her from Sarutobi clansmen whenever they could. Not every Shimura shared the same animosity as Mako's parents; in fact, more treated it as healthy competition than anger, but whatever happened in their past with the Sarutobi, Mako dared not question her parents. Much in the same way that soldiers don't question their superiors, the young Shimura heir saw herself as having no choice but to grit her teeth and do her best.
And do her best she did - to the knowledge of practically no one. Fuinjutsu is not a subject that plays a great role in the early stages of shinobi training as compared to Ninjutsu or Taijutsu. Those facts combined with a habit for lethargy due to never achieving sufficient sleep, and one would receive what Mako is - a tired underachiever with no obvious faults or talents. It's only in the background, in the quiet of her home, in her dimly lit room built for research, that she is considered a prodigy. For the moment, she's only a sleepy girl with dreams plagued by anxiety, but wishes to one day unleash her gifts on the world.
Character Development & Conceptualization OOC Goals: Similarly to before, I want to experience character development alongside the other characters, seeing how Mako interacts with the rest and how it shapes and matures her. Not a fan of those static characters, so I'm eager to see what quirky or dark bumps along the way will change everyone's characters permanently, for better or worse. I'd also like to see what a Shimura who's not a genocidal psychopath like Danzo, can do; with their tendency for wind element, fuinjutsu and elephant contracts, there's surely an interesting moveset to be found there.
IC Goals: Mako wants to make her clan proud, but also find a way to stand out on her own in a way that isn't simply showing herself as the next Shimura head. Unsure of how to do that, the early parts of her story will center around how her experiences as a genin will shape her views of how she wishes to "stand out". Late-game in that regard is too difficult to predict with the amount of variables.
Other than that, she also wants to interact with members of the Sarutobi clan to both confirm any hostility in their clan rivalry, and confirm if they're as pretentious and arrogant as her parents have tried to drill into her head. In particular, any Sarutobi around her age, including whichever is to inherit the Sarutobi's clan techniques next.
She also wishes to learn more about the outside world as she undoubtedly goes on adventures as a genin. She's read about many places, but has no physical context or experience with them, and curiosity is killing her.
Triple T's
Talents
Fuinjutsu: Fuinjutsu, otherwise known as the art of sealing, is the first thing Mako was forced to learn when her parents' private tutoring began. Some might see this as learning incorrectly, skipping the basics, but they entrusted the academy to pick up the scraps. While she hasn't learned anything too advanced yet, what her parents have allowed her to read on sealing, she has excelled at an extraordinary rate. This is in part due to some kind of natural knack for it, but the concept of fuinjutsu itself entranced Mako such that she treated the studying of it much like reading an intense thriller novel; her genuine interest in it was the biggest push for her to gain skill in the knowledge of it so quickly.
Medical Ninjutsu: One of the first things Mako thought of when reading about elephant summoning as a younger child was, "what if the elephants get hurt?". To that end, she ensured that after studying her regular Shimura research every night, she would take some additional time to read about and practice Medical Ninjutsu. The younger her didn't want any elephants to get hurt, so she also read up on elephant anatomy. As she grew older she realized it wasn't just elephants she would need to worry about, and also studied human anatomy and basic medicine making. It's not so much that she ever had a natural talent for healing, as much as her passionate concern for survival (especially of elephants) forced her to better learn how to heal herself and others.
Taijutsu: While not on the level of any of the Taijutsu-focused clans such as the Inuzuka, Akimichi or Lee clans, Mako was told by her parents that since the average Sarutobi was passable at Taijutsu, she would have to be better at Taijutsu in turn. She can't rely purely on the less aggressive combat tactics of Fuinjutsu or Medical Ninjutsu when it came time for fighting an opponent, so she learned the basics of close quarters combat. In her practice one night, she fell into a trance and woke up to broken training dummies and angry parents. Apparently she was a natural at some kind of trance-based Taijutsu, similar to Drunken Fist but brought on by late-night tiredness rather than alcohol.
Studying: Being forced to learn how to study efficiently from a young age, Mako has many ingrained studying habits and tactics to allow her to be more proficient at learning the book smarts aspect of being a ninja. She treats books as her own personal foe, only vanquished by perceptive behavior and lack of sleep. Her skill at gaining information did not come easily however, as noted by the frequent dark circles around her eyes that she firmly believes will never go away.
Resting: Her reputation as a tired slacker wasn't for nothing, after all. Over the years she's mastered the art of finding comfort resting anywhere. Whether that mean sleeping fifty feet in a tree, resting arched over a pointed boulder, or even neck-deep in swamp water, she has become supernaturally talented at finding ways to recuperate in any situation, whether this means sleeping, meditating or simply closing her eyes. Comedic gimmicks aside, she believes mental relaxation and rest are the most important facet of ninja life. Even in the rare occasion where she's not tired, she tries to rest whenever there's a free moment - who knows when you'll have your next sleep once you're out in the field, after all?

Yari is a short, athletically built young girl of 4'10 with a healthy, lightly tan complexion. Her grey-ish brown hair - though thick and smooth in texture - often appears unruly and wild, having been hastily cut into many uneven layers. Her round eyebrows are of a similar bushy thickness and her keen eyes are of a similar colour. She favours simple kimono-style shirts and matching shorts with earthy tones, and dons her iconic bear pelt jacket almost every day. Yari has a red fang marking painted on both of her cheeks, a tradition that seems to have fallen out of her clan's use in recent decades, as well as elongated canine teeth and nails like most Inuzuka. A few light scars line her legs and arms from the fights her and her ninken used to have during her early childhood. When she's not engaging in any form of combat, Yari will occasionally wear a pair of small fang shaped earrings.
C H A R A C T E R I S A T I O N & P R E S T I G E
As a girl who has chosen to maintain the outdated traditions and values of her clan, it's not a surprise that Yari has inherited the notoriously hot tempered and intense personality that ran wild within Inuzuka clansmen of bygone eras. However, it is more her strictly disciplined and fiercely prideful nature that defines Yari as a person. From a young age she has undergone rigorous physical and mental conditioning in order to succeed as one of the last shinobi of her clan, which has brought about a scarily stern persona that obsesses over achieving only the absolute best and rejecting anything gained beneath that. The values Yari has drilled into her head over the years has made her deeply respectful and appreciative towards hardworking individuals and those who call themselves shinobi, especially towards the elderly Inuzuka ninja who pridefully fought in the wars before as an expression of their clan values. Though she is not one to criticise the rapid industrialisation of the village she has been lovingly raised in, Yari has become very protective of the ways of forgotten Inuzuka ninja, despite finding that concerning herself with the affairs of other clans in similar situations to be irrelevant.
But her infamy as a student is more prominent than her respectable drive to be the best Inuzuka kunoichi she can, and so Yari was isn't really seen an easy person to approach. She is harsh and critical towards both herself and her peers, unafraid of the backlash she experiences and using opposition to accentuate her pride and confidence. Although her otherwise polite and rather mature personality has its worth in the eyes of Yari's instructors, her classmates find that her frequent scolding tendencies and intense ambition to reach the top of her class makes her more irritating than likeable. Having become too intensely focused on graduating with the best grades possible, Yari's friend list has fallen worryingly short. She has very few people who she actually gets along with, and so Yari mainly relies on her ninken partner, Kagemaru, for the emotional support outside of her parents' control. Though extremely self reliant in nature, her refusal to open up about her insecurities has built up nothing but doubt in her capabilities as a ninja, as well as a demeanour that only grows ever the more harsh after each attempt from people trying to break past her tough exterior.
Nevertheless, Yari is still only a young girl not even past the Academy student stage, understandably lacking the experience and maturity of her village's higher ranking shinobi. Thankfully she is not without her warmer, more jovial side when she begins to open up to others; always keen towards learning new things, enthusiastic when practising clan traditions and going out in the forests to hunt, and showing a surprising burst of energy when telling tales about her clan or stories from the history books she reads. Like many Inuzuka, shinobi or not, Yari is extremely loyal to her village and compassionate to her ninken partner, and is willing to protect the things she values against those who choose to threaten them. Her competitive fighting spirit burns with a passionate youthful flame, and it only seems to be growing from here.
O R I G I N S T O R Y
Being one of many born into an era of peace and prosperity had given the young Yari an early life without much worry or strife, being raised into a wealthy modern home within Konoha's bustling financial district. Her parents were happily married yet couldn't be anymore different people, her father being a leading fashion designer in his industry and her mother being one of the very few Inuzuka ninja that chose not to retire to a more peaceful lifestyle. Few shinobi veterans like Yari's mother from times of war and tragedy remained, and so many modern clansmen turned away from their shinobi paths to pursue other careers; the Inuzuka became more known for their veterinarian and dog breeding expertise, their strong capabilities as ninja quickly being forgotten in recent decades. During her early childhood, it was uncertain as to what path Yari's parents would steer her towards.
It was one of the few things that caused the more major conflicts between her parents, though it was her mother that would gain more influence over Mimi during her early childhood. The woman was a traditionalist to a fault, introducing her daughter to old hunting weapons, animal pelts and faded paintings of a completely different era from a young age, the crowded basement in which all of these objects had been hauled into unlike the sleek and impeccably tidy apartments she was used to. Yari was completely engrossed by the stories and legends her mother would tell her, and expressed an honest eagerness to practice the same traditions as her mother had done when she was young. Her mother, not wanting to die along with and to preserve the endangered Inuzuka traditions, wholeheartedly agreed. Her father was obviously against this at first, as he felt doing those ancient practises would do little to benefit Yari in this modern age. What kept him from totally rejecting his wife's and daughter's requests however was his unspoken idea that the shinobi career was a now a dying lifestyle, and so he accepted in hopes that Yari would eventually diverge from that prospect once she got older.
But her mother's personality and influence was strong enough to keep her walking down the shinobi path. By five years old Yari experienced the custom of painting red fangs on her cheeks for the first time, and from then she would continue to learn about old practises and delve into the history of her clan. By six she would have her new ninken partner Kagemaru by her side, and was already learning how to hunt in the Konohagakure forests under the guidance of her mother. The woman was an encouraging yet strict teacher, and soon Yari would come to learn of both the beauty and danger of the wilderness, her mindset vastly but gradually maturing with each camping trip. She would enroll into the Academy in the same year, and for the next seven years would be balancing her academic studies with her rigorous physical training in the forest. Over those years Yari has been hardened into the pseudo-hunter/ninja in training her classmates know her to be, having been disciplined by the harshness of nature's forests. She intends to continue her pursuit of the Inuzuka shinobi lifestyle, preserving all that she can of her clan's endangered traditions. But now, at only age thirteen, deep down inside Yari continues to struggle with balancing her modern and traditional lifestyles and values, and is still uncertain about the path she wants to take in life.
C H A R A C T E R D E V E L O P M E N T & C O N C E P T U A L I S A T I O N
Since the overall theme of the RP is largely 'traditionalism vs modernism', I thought it would be interesting to make a character whose main internal conflict stems from them trying to follow the modern and traditional influences they were raised into, and how they cope with trying to balance two vastly different lifestyles together. I'd love to explore the confusion Yari will face when the time comes for her to truly have to decide what path she wants to take in life, as well as how she goes about trying to preserve her clan traditions when she's currently one of the only practising shinobi in her clan. Despite her personality Yari's still at an age where she has a lot of room to grow and change, so I'd like to see how her personality and outlook on the world develops as she matures into a fully fledged ninja and meets new people of differing ideologies along the way. Also, the concept of a ninja that uses hunting based skills is something I've always wanted to try out, and I'd like to develop and perhaps put my own twists on the Inuzuka clan as I think they have a lot of potential to have a deep history and rich cultural traditions that the canon never had. I also wrote Yari to have a more 'difficult' personality than what I'm used to writing, so developing her character along the way as she forms more positive relationships will definitely be satisfying to see!
TL;DR I think the Inuzuka clan deserves more attention and I want to write about a ninja/hunter girl doing cool ninja/hunter things.
T A L E N T S
• Sensor - As an Inuzuka, Yari is able to make use of her extremely accurate senses, especially her sense of smell and sound. Her tracking and monitoring abilities are unparalleled by the rest of her classmates, making her a unique asset to a team.
• Hunter - Her capabilities as a ninja are not limited to the standard use of shuriken and chakra. Yari is able to hunt animals, make traps and survive pragmatically and resourcefully in the wilderness like it's second nature. She is easily able to apply these skills to situations more suited to shinobi, such as using her traps to capture escaped criminals and such. Her aptitude for hunting has also made Yari notably skilled at concealing her tracks and current whereabouts, which she has adapted to suit the 'hit and run' fighting style of her clan.
• 'Beast Human Taijutsu' - As a result of her daily exercises and practise of her clan techniques, Yari has become adept at utilising the basics of the original Inuzuka fighting style. Her skills in both taijutsu and ninjutsu are thus on a respectable level, although it is only her taijutsu that is able to maintain a just above average ranking in her class, while her ninjutsu ranks at simply average.
• Marksmanship - Yari's accuracy using projectile weapons is a notable skill of hers, and is considered slightly above average amongst her peers. Although she can wield kunai, shuriken and even a bow and arrow with reasonable confidence, her current skill level still limits her from being able to use such a weapon outside of hunting for game.
• Well read - Yari loves a good history book, and may spend her free time relaxing in libraries or going through her mother's old books. As a result she holds a great deal of knowledge about her village history and clan history, and can often answer questions concerning such subjects with ease.
• Cooking - The girl sure knows how to cook up a mean pot of venison stew. One of her top three hobbies that rival reading and game hunting.
T O O L S
• Spear - Although not necessarily and expert, Yari is able to use her spear with relative efficiency. She can use it for a variety of purposes, usually for direct attacks or throwing at short distances.
• Wire - Probably Yari's favourite. She finds the possible uses of this underrated tool to be almost limitless, and she thus carries many rolls with her.
• Kagemaru - Yari's ninken partner. Although they got off to an incredibly rough start when she first got him - she even has the scars to prove it - the two have managed to form a strong and inseparable bond over the years. Kagemaru is an extremely valuable asset to Yari as both a ninja and a hunter, and is seen as not only a lovable companion, but a loyal friend.

it just dawned upon me after going through this thread again that there's a discord so i should probably hop on that?
I just thought traditional hunters and the Inuzuka clan somehow went hand in hand with each other, but it's cool, we can talk ideas some time

Personal Information
Full Name:
Aburame ShinriKiyaru
Nicknames:
Shinri
Age:
11
Gender:
Male
Clan:
Aburame
Affiliation:
Konohagakure
Appearance in Full:
Fairly tall for someone his age, ShinriKiyaru stands at a solid height of 157cm (5' 2"). He also weighs in at 47kg (103lbs). He uses white fabric for his forehead protector, and also wears a white kimino with a black sash. His oil black hair reaches down to about shoulder length, and he has lavender eyes that appear to be glossed over, indicating his blindness.
Characterization & Prestige:
It's rare to see ShinriKiyaru in a less-than-stellar mood, as he naturally comes off as a highly jovial individual. Nothing gets him down for long, or rather, any longer than one would expect; and before you know it, he's back and kosher again. ShinriKiyaru is not one to hold a grudge on any particular person, and even if that's what he winds up doing, it won't last for long... unless the person in question has committed a very serious, very targeted offense. Of course, he has a good ear for telling if someone jests when saying something that might otherwise be interpreted as offensive, and if they do, he'll probably laugh it off as well. However, that takes a good judgment in character, which in turn would mean getting to know the person for an extensive amount of time.
ShinriKiyaru is highly optimistic in regards to his future. This might explain his unyieldingly positive attitude. Of course, ShinriKiyaru has dreams of his own, those primarily revolving around becoming Hokage one day. It's a huge goal for sure, that, he's well aware of. But he knows where he can start. The ideal Hokage would be kind to all the villagers of Konohagakure, which is a feature that ShinriKiyaru has down pat. But the position demands more than that. Namely, the ideal Hokage would need to be capable of protecting the villagers from danger, and they'd need to be capable of leading them to a better tomorrow; and to do that would mean making the important decisions that would, in all practicality, be for the true betterment of the village. While having the confidence for it is all well and good, ShinriKiyaru has yet to procure the chance to prove (or disprove) that he is in fact capable of making the correct decision, out of multiple that all can change lives forever. This isn't to say that ShinriKiyaru won't be up for the task, but he's never been forced into making split-second decisions before, nor has he ever had to make a decision with that great a magnitude behind it.
Above all else, however, ShinriKiyaru has sheer determination. Unlike most of the ninja trainees of this generation, ShinriKiyaru takes his training seriously. He'll strive for constant improvements no matter how slight, and he won't allow his blindness or crude suggestions from others to put him down. He takes his lessons on jutsu theory seriously as well, listening to and mentally noting down everything the instructor lectures so that he has access to it later in life when he might need it. He's even put a lot of thought into his aspirations of one day becoming the Hokage; how he could possibly achieve it, what not to do lest he blows that one shot that he has, all the possible steps he could realistically take, and most importantly, why he'd even want to go for it and what it'd be worth to him. His reasoning essentially boils down to one thing. Deep down, ShinriKiyaru feels as though he has something to prove to the villagers of Konohagakure... besides the thirst to apply himself that he seems to have. And it's that need to prove himself that drives him to perform to the best of his ability.
Origin Story:
ShinriKiyaru Aburame was born with severe optical nerve damage, which had been inflicted by a few rogue kikaichu that had devoured pieces of said nerves as they were feeding off his chakra, all while his body was still developing inside Fumika Aburame's womb. As such, he spent his entire life blind, unable to see the world around him and being even more vulnerable to all sorts of dangers. This was very much all to Fumika's dismay, since as his mother, it was her self-proclaimed duty to keep ShinriKiyaru safe from harm... and between her being a single parent with little money and her own mental stability being questionable at best, it was getting harder and harder for Fumika as life went on. Despite all the times that he'd inadvertently driven her crazy, Fumika never let ShinriKiyaru out of her sight, and she always took him wherever she went, if only out of extreme paranoia for what he might be doing whilst left on his own. That changed during ShinriKiyaru's first few days at the academy. While she was perfectly fine with him going to school and learning things, Fumika would still have panic attacks over what might happen to ShinriKiyaru outside of her watch, so at first she guided him to the academy each day and stake it out for the duration of his time there. Her shadowy presence was starting to scare the other kids, however, and she got defensive when some of the staff asked her to leave, naturally scaring the kids even more.
While he was at the academy, ShinriKiyaru's classmates had seated themselves far away from him due to some of his kikaichu and kaiyochu showing themselves, especially the girls at his class, and he was exempt from shurikenjutsu practice during the entirety of one year and a sizable amount of the next due to his blindness. This sense of isolation had made ShinriKiyaru feel lonely, and when the instructor came over to ask what was wrong, he expressed his concerns that he might not be welcome in the academy after all. After this talk with his instructor, ShinriKiyaru returned home a little earlier than he would normally be let free, only to find that Fumika was out on an errand of sorts, presumably to go shopping for groceries and supplies. After some rifling around an old desk, ShinriKiyaru had found some kunais and shurikens in one of its drawers along with a note that he couldn't read due to his blindness, and picked one of the shurikens up. He looked down at the shuriken, reflecting on his current situation. When Fumika returned, she rushed over to ShinriKiyaru in a state of panic, only to freeze upon catching a glimpse of the note inside the drawer that ShinriKiyaru must've opened, burying her face in her hands as she broke down and dropping to her knees. ShinriKiyaru asked Fumika if she was OK, but when she wouldn't answer, he had to assume that he'd stumbled upon something personal, and thus apologized for the intrusion. He told her that she had every right to give it her all to protect her; that, he realized, but he also said that she was eventually going to have to relinquish that burden and trust that one day, he'd be quite capable of looking after himself.
Combat Information
Talents:
ShinriKiyaru battles using parasitic insects known as kikaichu. These insects nest on ShinriKiyaru's body directly and feed on his chakra, but in exchange, he can command them in battle and dictate their very actions, and all information regarding their surroundings is instantly relayed to him. ShinriKiyaru also makes use of a different species of parasitic insects known as kaiyochu. These insects can't fly as high as the kikaichu can, nor can they soar as far or as long before they'd have to land again, but they can swim faster than any human can run, and can dive into the depths of any ocean without succumbing to the pressure that'd be exerted upon them due to the sheer weight of the waters above. This in turn makes the kaiyochu ideal for underwater combat.
ShinriKiyaru can also sense chakra to an extent, via feeling it pulsate through his body. How close he has to be in order to feel a specific entity's chakra is in reverse proportion to that entity's power level. For example, he'd only be able to sense a genin's or academy student's chakra whilst exceedingly close to them. Jonins' and prodigy chunins' chakra can be felt from a stone's throw away, whereas shinobi of a higher power, such as ANBU members or the Five Kage, can be felt from up to five meters. However, if ShinriKiyaru were to have the (mis)fortune to encounter any of the Nine-Tailed Beasts, he'd be able to sense their chakra from a whole mile away. Typically, ShinriKiyaru will have this rule-of-thumb when staring down an opposing shinobi in combat; if he can feel their chakra, chances are he's too close to them and he needs to back off if he's able, lest he be vulnerable to powerful Taijutsu, or short-ranged Ninjutsu or Genjutsu.
Litmus Paper tends to dampen enough to be completely soaked whilst in ShinriKiyaru's hand, indicating that ShinriKiyaru has a natural affinity for the learning and use of Water Release Jutsu. He does know one or two off-hand, but he'll need more time to learn any additional Water Release Jutsu that he may have in mind in terms of adding to his repertoire than he has left in the academy.
Considering his blindness, one would think that ShinriKiyaru would fail miserably at Shurikenjutsu, being even less competent at it than he would be at Taijutsu; that being the class of jutsu that the Aburame Clan is known to be weak in. However, that kind of thinking would be wrong. The kikaichu and kaiyochu housed in ShinriKiyaru's body can relay more than enough information about his exact surroundings to make up for his blindness, and although his technique for throwing a shuriken or kunai to one side or from behind him could use work, he's still able to have a thrown shuriken or kunai land on a target point-first, as well as keep to his own indicated target. ShinriKiyaru theorizes that, by the time he finishes graduation from the academy given his current progress, he'll be accurately throw any shuriken or kunai without even looking in the direction that he intends to throw it.

Techniques:
Human Cocoon Technique Rank D
A basic technique that allows ShinriKiyaru to wrap himself in a cocoon, which doubles as a waterproof "sleeping bag" of sorts. This cocoon is comfortable enough for him to sleep in when all other sleeping equipment is forgone, whether due to negligence or otherwise. It can also be used to hide from opposing shinobi, and consequentially, spy on them from a safe distance.
Secret Technique: Insect Cocoon Rank D
This allows ShinriKiyaru to accelerate the growth of his kikaichu and his kaiyochu. However, this in turn leaves him static and vulnerable, usually requiring him to move to a safe place or be adequately guarded by a teammate. ShinriKiyaru does have options in the event that his teammates cannot save him; using his Underwater Technique, he can dive underwater and stay there for as long as he needs to, so long as his chakra reserves don't run dry. Alternatively, if there is only a single opposing shinobi, he can trap that shinobi in a Water Prison Technique, affording him the ability to use this technique out in the open with significantly lesser repercussions.
Secret Technique: Insect Sphere Rank C
ShinriKiyaru commands his kikaichu and kaiyochu to pursue an opposing shinobi, at first covering a wide area in search for their target before gathering all at once and forming a sphere the second they find it. Even if the opposing shinobi escapes the first time, they'll be continually be pursued until they manage to evade the kikaichu and kaiyochu completely, or their chakra is eaten away in its entirety. In either case, the kikaichu and kaiyochu will immediately return to ShinriKiyaru's side.
Secret Technique: Nightmare of Parasite Rank C
Here, ShinriKiyaru's kikaichu and kaiyochu buzz as loudly as they possibly can, enabling them to inflict a powerful audial genjutsu on any opposing shinobi within 20 meters of them. This genjutsu drives its victims into panic, bolting in different directions and seeming to swat kikaichu and other insects that in truth are not present in corporeal form. While ShinriKiyaru cannot control the direction in which the victims end up running, he and his allies can still take advantage of the situation quite easily, allowing to trap the victims at will, as well as throw shurikens and kunai and fire off less-than-accurate jutsus without the risk of them being able to dodge. And it has the potential to forcibly separate opposing shinobi so that they can be defeated significantly more easily, due to lacking the support from their peers. The effects of the genjutsu dissipate on their own the moment that one too many kikaichu and/or kaiyochu stop buzzing at full blast but, as is possible with the vast majority of other genjutsu, victims can also break out by inflicting enough pain upon themselves.
Underwater Technique Rank D
By using the Monkey, the Snake and the Dog Hand Seals, ShinriKiyaru can have his entire chakra network emit an aura of chakra around him. This aura will repel any and all water from ShinriKiyaru's body, allowing him to swim freely underwater without the need to hold his breath. He can also freely use all of his insect-based jutsu whilst underwater through this technique as well, by strictly using his kaiyochu in place of his kikaichu. Even with a strong level of chakra control on his end, ShinriKiyaru can only maintain the aura that protects him from drowning for approximately 30 minutes at the very most. It should be noted that this aura does not prevent ShinriKiyaru from feeling the full impact of any Water Release Jutsu that strikes him, nor does it reduce the damage of those jutsu in any way. However, this can be used to stave off the effects of the Water Prison Technique until help arrives at the very least, if not counter it completely.
Water Prison Technique Rank C
The most powerful jutsu that ShinriKiyaru currently has access to. It's also one of his most versatile jutsus... or rather, it would be if not for its short range. What it allows ShinriKiyaru to do is ensnare an opposing shinobi in a sphere of pure water, restricting the stricken shinobi's movements and making it difficult for them to breath. The biggest drawback to this jutsu is that ShinriKiyaru must stay in contact with the sphere of water at all times, lest it burst and spray water all over the place, and consequentially free the trapped shinobi inside. ShinriKiyaru can also use the Water Prison Technique to keep key items relatively safe from opposing shinobi's hands, encase himself to stop others from reaching him, or encase his own kaiyochu to give them the respite they may need from flight while still keeping them "airborne". He can even ensnare an opposing shinobi with his kaiyochu inside a water prison, giving them a free, helpless target to consume chakra from.
The kaiyochu are based off of the great diving beetles, and their name is derived from the words "kaiyo", meaning ocean, and "chu", meaning insect. The whole concept of the kaiyochu was so that Shinri could still perform all of his bug-related justus whilst underwater. I figured that this would be a useful feature in case our characters ever wind up passing by a river or a lake or something, which I would imagine would come into play during a post-graduation arc when we're all out of the academy and doing mission stuffs. Of course, I needed to give the kaiyochu a disadvantage of some sort in order for them to not be completely superior to the kikaichu; which in turn would equate to the prospect of even giving Shinri the kikaichu pointless. Thus, I decided that restricting the kaiyochu's flight capabilities would make the most sense. After all, they are supposed to be sea-based insects as opposed to air-based.
During combat or test conditions, Shinri will likely summon an entire swarm of kikaichu and kaiyochu and have them constantly buzz around him at normal volumes, with occasional bursts of more aggressive buzzing so that they can provide echolocation for Shinri. It's not the most subtle use of his bugs, but the extra precision he gets will more than likely be worth it. Alternatively, Shinri can place his kikaichu and kaiyocgu on the ends of his fingers, his feet, his shoulders and other key parts of his body, hidden (mostly) underneath his clothing. In this instance, they won't be buzzing so constantly and only in bursts, which is often enough to ensure that Shinri won't bump into anything, and he may outstretch his hand in order to get a better gauge on what's directly in front of him. This will be the main method that Shinri will use to determine where obstacles and people and shit actually are. Taking the kikaichu and kaiyochu out will render Shinri helpless; though in saying that, they have enough self-preservation and survival instinct to not make that easy.
