Final question before I work on my CS: should we include weapon attachments in our inventory, or are attachments found in-world like in the battle royale games?

You can have them on your characters. It's more appropriate that everyone begins the battle properly geared.

Or are attachments purchased via an in-game economy that is surprisingly so complicated it's best not to think too much about it?

Er... I mean...

GRAKATA!

... that's not a Grakata, but I still want.
-Technically it's a flamethrower, since it has minimal blast effect, but ridiculous amounts of fire.. although explosive and buckshot are available.

I don't have anything against that weapon, as long as you keep in mind the fact that that kind of ammunition is very exotic. You are unlikely to find replacements if you run our of it during the tournament.

@Foster

If you bring a Grakata, you better make sure you have loads of spare magazines as an ability....or spare Grakatas. May just be better to replace them entirely and bludgeon people with empty cheese graters.

Most firefights (assaults/meeting-engagements) are generally over within five minutes (something about that being the amount of time it generally takes for the "winning" side to sieze initiative and utter steamroll through the enemy's positions).
-If one side hasn't siezed the other's position in that time, congrats, you're both either pinned-down or too cozy as a camper in your fortified position.

Besides, the short range bullet-spammers are a close-in shock-and-awe weapon like P. Chan. Most time is actually spent jockeying for better shooting-positions w/o making yourself a suicidally easy target.

In short, full auto is something best for when you find a "fish in a barrel"/"Too many bad guys in the open to count" moment, and don't want to give them the opprotunity to find cover.

I was dragged hear against my will politely asked to volunteer to this. I don't usually RP on this site a lot but I can give it a shot.

Forewarning: My current profession sees me as an apprenticing gunsmith. If you have any questions about anything firearms related, I would be glad to help. Even if it is a video game.

I addressed most of this last question in the first answer, but on the issue of NPCs, it'll be NPC Players. After the RP beings, I'll add a few NPC Players to round the numbers. Anyone who gets eliminated before the end of the 1st arc can go do any other activities until the competition is over.

Yeah, sorry, I am probably being slow, but I'm still not totally sure what the main hook of the roleplay is? Is it "Enter tournament and win"? I just wanna make sure I understand properly the goal of the players in this rp. Is winning the tournament the primary objective?

As I said before, the tournament will work as the introductory arc of the this story and there will be other elements sprinkled in during it. That said, I can't go around revealing all the ideas I'm thinking about, can I?

Let's just take one step at a time and see where we will get.

Well, in a week I'll be gone for the following week. If the RP can hold onto its enthusiasm for that long, then I'm sure a character can be crafted in that time.

Also, @Massasauga it's "Here" and not "hear"

Blame @Jurassic Weeb@GarlandDaHero@Foster for dragging me here.

Potential interest if I bite the bullet and finish all the other things I need to do on RPG.

Edit: Hi other people I know. Looking at you Sun and Burger.

No worries, I had some problems today so I wasn't able to get the main thread done, but I don't think that it'll be a problem if you join one or two weeks later. Especially since everyone will need time for preparations anyway.

@Kuroyomihime

How easy is it for someone in the game to tell the difference between a PC and an NPC?

Also, some games require a minimum level to get at more powerful level up perks to reward the players who put in enough game time to make it that far. Does Gun Burst have a system like that?

I think I'll specialize in "lurk" and "sticky fingers".

Basicly rather than a blitz-flanker, I'll have more of a surprise-flanker/stalker that is a bit of an opprotunist when it comes to captured munitions.

Now I just need to use just the right amount of snark.

The same that happens in any other proper game, NPCs have different health and status bars to make it sure that people can tell the difference between them and other PCs. Also, while their AI is pretty advanced, they still behave in predictable patterns, it's easy for most players to tell them apart just because of this.

I'll answer questions about game mechanics in depth, after he main thread is live (hopefully later today). For the time being, I'll say that the answer is yes and no. While the game itself may have a system like this, it'll not be relevant for the purposes of the story, since everyone is going to begin at maximum level anyway.

I don't want this to be a story were we overthink (in-game) game mechanics. This isn't going to be tabletop style so there's no need for a hard set of rules, which generally are the lest interesting part of the game anyway. As long as Gun Burst doesn't feel like a poorly thought game from a IC point of view, it should be enough. The rest will be done in a narrative-based way.
