I mean true, but the fact that they specifically made DLC to then lock most of the player base out of it just rubs me the wrong way. Plus surely they'd have enough independence that they'd attempt to support GTA 5's singleplayer post-Online. People can go ahead and blame Take Two, I know I am, but Rockstar themselves are sitting pretty on a fat wad of cash from ignoring the thing that got them to this position. Why change?

surprisingly enough, they actually don't have that much independence. this is evidenced by the sheer amount of GTAO stuff they've been pushing out and leaving the single player alone, not to mention the rampant microtransactions. that's more than likely stuff take two is telling them how to do. it is a trend with all of the games that they've put out lately, from GTA V to my beloved video game sports. all of them suffer from greedy cash grabbing techniques.

they also don't get all of the mad dosh that GTA V has raked in. if anything, take two has more of the money than rockstar does. as much as they would like to go independent or all that, it just isn't feasible for them.

I couldn't give a shit about the Online aspect, but it's the fact they ignore singleplayer because of it. Not only did we miss out on kickass singleplayer DLC, but Online has so many quality of life features that could easily be ported to singleplayer. I hate having to drive like a normal person with an expensive car I just bought because they didn't bother to add the insurance feature, and the recovery system for abandoned cars is utter shit. I know R* will deliver on a great singleplayer, I'm more concerned about them shelving it afterwards - be it their own choice or Take Two's. I know a lot of people say this dramatically when a developer tries something new, and I usually criticise it, but I won't be surprised if they dip their toes into online only territory soon. Might be better off for it, who knows.

And I know people are already gushing over Cyberpunk 2077 (which might not even qualify since its possibly looking at a 2020 release), as they rightfully should.
