Zoya Nikolova

Location: The Framework
Skills: N/A

Z was inspecting the headpiece she was holding in her hands and marveling at the design and the engineering behind it, her mind beginning to drift further into her ruminations, when she was snapped back into reality as the word 'powers' floated into her ears. She refocused and redirected her attention to Director Fury in time to hear the powers of all who had yet to enter the framework. Z glanced at Niah, her VR helmet already on her head. Well, bugger! She thought. And, of course the Director refused to tell her and those still out of the Framework what powers those already in had received. He could be a prick like that! Well, since we will be in a simulated reality, I suppose withholding this information wouldn't do any real harm and a sort of a lesson would be learned. Doesn't change the fact that the man can still be a prick about certain things, though. Z mused as she considered her own powers. Tranquil Fury and Concussive Roar. The second was pretty straightforward. But what was that Tranquil Fury one about?! Guess I'll have to find out in the field. Z shrugged and put the head gear on.

She took a moment to get her bearings. A sign jumped at her proclaiming 'Welcome to Midtown' and the voice of Harrison Ford warned they had one hour. Harrison Ford, really!?! You couldn't spring for Sean Connery or something!

Looking around Z witnessed something that made her chuckle. Agent Cassandra Reed, their SO, was giving Tinley and some other blond who Z didn't know an ear full. Okay, that's kinda hot! Z thought as she observed the scolding a couple more seconds. Spying Niah, though, Nik rushed to her as she was handing Novikova her shades. I wonder what that's about? The question flashed through her mind as she gave her friend a quick hug. "Hey, sunshine! I'm so glad you survived this crazy crucible of an experiment!" Z stepped back and looked at Niah, who stood a few inches taller than her. "But, damn, you've got guts, girl! Entering a slightly tested virtual environment without a second thought." The explosives engineer added as she listened to Cass' briefing for the mission and her consequent instructions.

Nik groaned inwardly as she heard her assignment, which put her in one team with Tinley. Well, suck it up and push on. Nothing good will come of antagonizing her. When Niah voiced her question to Agent Reed Z could sense her discomfort and uncertainty at what was expected of them. She squeezed her friend's shoulder in comfort and support. "Just follow the SO's lead when it comes to anything physical and don't be afraid to give ideas and input. You'll be okay." Z smiled reassuringly and went to stand with her assigned teammates. She felt a bit apprehensive, being in the vicinity of Tess, but managed to wrestle her ridiculous infatuation down and prevented the blush from tinting her Middle Eastern complexion. Boy, this is gonna be one wild ride!

Although Niah's question to Agent Reed migh have been hesitant, it was still sound. So Z stepped forward to add her own two cents to it. Following Niah's question about how we are supposed to get past the guards... Is it safe to assume we'll be entering the building together and split off into our respective teams once inside? Also, is there any other information about the layout of the building and the positions of our marks that will help with the sweep and clean? Z might not have graduated from the ops academy, but it wasn't like she didn't have any field training. She was a soldier before she was S.H.I.E.L.D. And when facing an enemy of the Brotherhood's caliber, you needed any tactical advantage you could get.

Emilia-Marie Rivera

Location: Sci-Tech Building 4 - Phase Three HQ: Medical Ward -> The Framework.

Well no matter what department you are from, it was impossible to know or hear about the brightest minds currently at S.H.I.E.L.D., although it would be amusing to see if any from Sci-tech suddenly went into fangirling mode. Maybe if Fury wasn’t there it could’ve been a funny and amusing sight, either way Emilia was happy to see them at least, easily the most respected nerds that could talk a storm and Emilia not understand an inch of probably, either way she returned a smile and respectful nod to Simmons, still she wondered what would make a special occasion, maybe seeing Romanoff?

Soon enough though the needle was removed and Fitz and Simmons had passed out these VR helmets to the entire team as the situation of the simulation was being explained along with what quicksilver had been apparently up to, giving Fury shit meant the guy was stupid or had balls, either way doing a mission that her So had been actually involved in was probably a good idea. And it didn’t take long for some of the team to jump straight in after getting the mission scenario. Mostly it seems like all of ops went head first, well except for herself and Maria, her roommate.

So after some dived in… Well mostly the ops but some others did, some of the smart ones from Sci-Tech put out some interesting questions and one of the most important ones of all, which Emilia probably would admit. She didn’t think to ask either at the time as she was looking at the VR headset. What where their powers? Surely people at the labs here had some idea or understanding of what it was the team had the potential to do and so Emilia decided to be patient and wait to see if there was anything more to know before going into this exercise.

Talk of anime actually made Emilia kind of lost, she never really watched the stuff anyway and don’t recall in doing so, that talk went over her head but it was Fury showing a funny side to himself that made her raise an eyebrow, for her it was rare to see and kind of clashed with what she normally thought the director was like, best to keep that to one’s self. Emilia snorted at his comment of quicksilver and Tony Stark. Soon enough the ones that actually stuck around where told what they could do, Emilia couldn’t understand it, but she believed that they were something that could be useful in the field. Especially the idea of portal teleportation, nodding at Simmons one more time, Emilia put on the headset without hesitation.

Opening her eyes after a few moments, Emilia was suddenly hit with the sounds and rush of New York City, it felt so real and the thought of being in here for too long may make one wonder what was or wasn’t real. Taking a few moments to gather her bearings, it appeared she was one of the last in, Emi looked at the sign WELCOME TO MIDTOWN before taking a moment to look at Stark tower… Oh how much Emilia would love to get her hands on that quinjet of theirs.

Her attention was brought towards Agent Reed, their SO for their mission as she explained the mission objectives, who they were dealing with and the team load outs, she already knew Johnson and Kelley, so it be interesting for her on how well she will work with those she was not familiar with, It seems Z new the other Sci-Tech girl in her group, Niah was the name, Emilia would have make sure she remembers the names to the faces, Emilia quietly observed the four story building.

Tinley Abercrombie

Location: Sci-Tech Building 4 - Phase Three HQ: Virtual Training Session

Tinley ignored Cassandra's comments, thinking in her head about the vantage points the building offered as well as ways to get around security. Also, how she would handle the Brotherhood members. She would have to explore what her powers could be. Did she have energy projection? Mind powers?

As soon as she got back to the scene, Cassandra broke up the group. She was placed with quite the assortment. She fought the urge to comment on it, as she had no say in the matter. Instead, she listened. Each person churned her stomach with inane questions. This was a mission. A timed one, at that! They didn't have time to stand there asking questions. Especially Zoya. God, why the hell did that woman have to be in her group? It was bad enough to have those who hadn't seen combat situations firsthand. "Hey, agent Nikolova? How about we go save the world now, huh? Instead of asking stupid questions?"

She hated her group, but if she was going to succeed, she would need to know what they offered. So she summoned her group to her. "Okay, I am not happy about this either, so let's get through this. What skills does everyone bring to the table, specifically? And be quick about it, please."

“Sure thing, boss.” Val quickly said to Cassandra Reed who took charge of the operation and explained a thing or two. Frankly this was what she meant, they needed a chain of command for this test. It was after all a mission simulation and during a mission you always or at least most of the time had a superior agent who was calling the shots. For that Johnson wasn't really against it. She knew how an op was supposed to work and despite her gun ho adrenaline seeker personality, she was methodical when it came to work. Work was important, work put money on the table and with said money you could do more things in the long term. She needed a climbing rig.

“Roger~” She whistled and hopped on team Reed. It was an order after all and she was also the superior agent who had already went through the mission. Sticking with the ones who knew what was going on was usually a good plan. She made a quick mental note to remember what they were told about the guards. So Magneto was using humans... this was weird. Why humans?” No, no other questions aside do we have lethal force use authorisation for enemy mutant targets?” This was the main question she needed to know. Easiest way to neutralise someone for good was killing them after all. Killing someone was way easier usually than fighting him until submission.

Aside that she quickly repeated the names that Cassandra had spoken and the faces assossiated with them. She had to know whom was in a team with her after all. Mission details aside, Val thought about the simulation itself. It was weird to make them do it straight out without training to train their powers to a sufficient levels. It was like asking the powers to trigger during the mission without control. Maybe it was the point, to see if they can adapt fast enough? She was liking it already and her face showed it. She looked at hte first floor, her smile as wide as possible.

Arcturus Hale

Location: The Framework
Skills: Telepathy

The breeze on the air, the noise of the city, the grout in the sidewalk––it felt like he was really there. Arcturus was no expert in VR systems by any means and was only interested in programming in so far as it was a means to an end, but what he wouldn't give to take a peek at what made the Framework tick.

Fury's quick rundown of their powers left a scowl on Arcturus's face that was only slightly alleviated by his wonder at the fake world around him. Other than the director's reluctance to fill them in on everyone's abilities, his new telepathy was a heavy weight on his thoughts. An answer as to the source of the disconcerting whispers. At least he knew they could be shut out to some extent, or at least shoved to the back of his mind and ignored. However, the mission parameters required them to work together, using their powers (some of which were still unknown) as a team.

With some trepidation, he released a breath he didn't realise he'd been holding, and reached out to hear musings on what powers might present from those who hadn't stayed behind, on areas of entry and surface-level judgements about who went on what team. He was half-listening to Reed divide up the groups and half lost in thoughts that weren't his own. Briefing done, he nodded absently. "Understood."

Arcturus privately agreed with blonde operative in his team. It was a timed mission, and their respective academies had trained them up as well as could be expected. Questions had to be prioritised, but that was always difficult for Sci-Tech given the nature of their work. Still, he voiced no complaints. Becoming a pariah on one's first day was overrated. He said nothing as Abercrombie summoned them to break off into a smaller group and questioned them on their usefulness, seemingly doubtful that they had any at all.

Sometimes it was less painful to follow and obey.

"I'm Communications, much like Agent Reed, though not half as easy on the eyes. I believe I would be best used in facilitating contact between Team One and Two in this scenario, but I may also be of assistance in breaking through any cyber-security measures we might find in the lab," Arcturus answered succinctly with a bland smile, listing off his most pertinent areas of expertise. Code-breaking didn't seem like it would come in handy here, and he couldn't imagine his talent for languages coming up in the scenario. "The director also informed me that I'm a telepath now. Range and potency unknown."

Was it just reading them, or could he push out his own thoughts to a willing or unwilling audience? It was possible. Probable, even, though he was unsure of how to visualize it. It was something to test within the safety of the Framework, something that would certainly come in handy on the mission, but not until they got moving –– he didn't want to delay the others while he tested it out.

Theresa Sparks

Location: Sci-Tech Building 4 - Phase Three HQ: Medical Ward -> The Framework
Skills: N/A

Sparky nodded at what Fury told them about their powers. Of course it made sense for him not to tell them the others' powers, they had rushed in head first, not thinking about asking first. Then, when she heard what her powers were, she had to fight back the urge to laugh. Of course her powers were electrical based, her last name was Sparks, and she was an Electrical Engineer, it made perfect sense, let's just hope she doesn't fry any circuits or something that she was working on, as that could end badly.

With one last nod, she put on the headset and dove into the Framework, and listened to everyone else bicker about what to do. "...I could try something, no guarantees that it'll work, I'm still new to the whole having powers thing..." she said softly, before she held her hands up to get a few sparks flying, but she wasn't able to get much going to hit the guards with. "Sorry, guess that won't work..." she muttered, before she started hovering slightly a few inches off the ground.

@Damo021@ihinka@BlueSky44@Kirah@rivaan@Nallore@FantasyChic@McHaggis
Present Day - S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy: August 14th, 2020 - 9:40 A.M.

Marygold Isley walked into SHIELD's Phase Three HQ, her red curls moving along her shoulders as she walked. There was a bag in her hand, and it was full of different things that were made to help mutants. Mary didn't care if Fury wanted her there, she was going to help clean up his mess whether he wanted her to or not, since this was not something he'd be able to ignore. The world hated mutants after all, and were constantly trying to kill them off, so she still didn't understand why Fury wanted to make more. Her hatred towards Fury was not something to get in the way of her helping others, and she also knew that Fury was still mad at her for cutting off the X-Men and SHIELD partnership, but she was there now, to lend a hand.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, you can't go in there," Agent Blake apologized, standing in front of the door to the medical ward with an I.C.E.R. adapted rifle resting against his chest. "You need at least Level Seven clearance to enter," Blake added. "And unfortunately, they don't give that out to leaders of the X-Men." However, he was stepping aside from the door and opening it for her, giving her a wink. ""I'm sorry, ma'am, there's just nothing I can do to help. You'll have to wait here." He then stepped aside and walked off down the hallway.

"Sorry to hear that Agent, too bad," she said with a smirk, as she walked into the room, carrying her bag. At least the guy who had stopped her hadn't been insisting that she actually leave or something, this made her life a whole lot easier.

Fury glanced up and let out a sigh. He figured this encounter was going to go about just as well as his last one did. "...Is now a good time to mention your suspicions that Quicksilver is in love with Tony Stark, sir?" Fitz asked, pretending to be oblivious.

"Whose the scientist who doesn't know what he's talking about? Don't worry Fury, I'm not here to attack you like Pietro did, I'm just here to help deal with the mess you've made," she said, looking from Fitz until she made eye contact with Fury.

"...I'm an engineer, not a scientist..." Fitz mumbled and Simmons rolled her eyes, rubbing her husband's back. "Come on Fitz, you can't let that get to you," Simmons said softly to him. Jim was eating an ice cream sandwich on one of the chairs, ignoring the entire "no eating" rule in the medical ward. All food in the building had been served through an IV drip so far. "So you're not going to try and take away another one of my engineers?" Fury asked, shaking his head slightly at Mary. "You broke ties with S.H.I.E.L.D., Isley. Go home."

"You understand why I did that, made sense considering the fact that we were doing your job for you... And I'm not going to leave because..." she said, holding up her bag, "Guessing you don't know how to deal with a lot of their powers. And I do."

The Framework: 50 Minutes Remaining

Dominika Novikova

Framework Location: Sidewalk in New York City
Skills: Dimensional Energy Perception (Passive), Earth Manipulation, Jack of All Trades (Science)

Unfortunately, all memories - even the very best - fade with time. Beyond the information Cass had already relayed regarding the position of the guards, she wouldn't be able to recall anything else. But still, for most missions, this information was way beyond what individuals were normally given. She would, however, recall all of the powers of the Brotherhood members they were going up against. Or at least, the ones that Cassandra had recalled. Fury's team had made some certain modifications to the game - there was at least one Brotherhood member missing from Cassandra's roster.

  • Magneto - real name Erik Lensherr - age unknown - Powers: Magnetokinesis
  • Plasma - real name Cecily Ashworth - age unknown - Powers: Matter State Manipulation
  • Scarlet Witch - real name Wanda Maximoff - age 20 - Powers: Chaos Magic Reality Warping
  • Toad - real name Mortimer Toynbee - age 32 - Powers: Superhuman Leaping, Flexible Bone Structure, Superhuman Stamina, Superhuman Agility, Superhuman Reflexes, Superhuman Durability, Regenerative Healing Factor, UV/Infrared Vision, Prehensile Tongue, Pheromone Secretion, Acidic Saliva, Paralytic Resin, Superhuman Respiratory System, Amphibian Control
  • Sabretooth - real name Victor Creed - age unknown - Powers: Regenerative Healing Factor, Foreign Chemical Immunity, Immunity To Diseases, Extended Longevity, Weather Insulated Adaptation, Superhuman Stamina, Superhuman Strength, Superhuman Durability, Superhuman Speed, Superhuman Agility, Superhuman Reflexes, Superhuman Senses, Claws and Fangs, Psionic Resistance
  • Avalanche - real name Dominikos Petrakis - age 25 - Powers: Seismokinesis
  • Cheshire Cat - real name Othello Boyavard - age 23 - Powers: Teleportation, Shapeshifting
  • Wonderland - real name Elizabeth Roswell - age 20 - Powers: Hallucinogenic Touch, Illusion manipulation
  • The Adder - real name Richard Laine - age 30 - Powers: Reptile Shapeshifting

Cassandra would know, however, that lethal force was not authorized against enemy mutants they encountered. Fury wanted them brought in alive, that way they could be taken to the Raft and subjected to questioning. It also would help keep a hostage from accidentally being killed if mistaken for a Brotherhood member. Of course, there was the fact that no one had asked about the hostages - such as what their abilities would be, if the hostages could help them once freed, and so forth. Luckily, though, Fury hadn't forbidden Cassandra from giving that information. She was allowed to tell them anything.

"Thanks," Novikova said. She caught a brief glimpse of Niah and saw one of the strangest sights she had ever seen - or in this case, "seen." She blinked rapidly and shook her head. It looked like Niah and her sister.....but there were at least ten identical copies of Niah's sister. Once she put the sunglasses on and looked around, the weird visions stopped happening and Novikova relaxed slightly. She could focus on the mission now, without worrying about seeing the next season of Sliders play out in front of her.

"And I do have one question...Quicksilver - won't he be here?" Novikova asked. She had a healthy fear of speedsters.

The guards noticed Sparky's attempts to shoot at them and they raised they guns, aiming at the group and letting a rain of bullets come down on them. Novikova instantly threw her hands up to protect herself, not having had any sort of combat training. A earthen wall came up and stopped the bullets from hitting her, as well as those immediately around her. Kelley's telekinesis would kick in, allowing him to - without even realizing it - shield the rest of the team from harm. Three stray bullets then hit Cass in what would have been lethal blows, but they fell off her skin like they were nothing.

"...You've got dermal armor...Like Luke Cage in Harlem..." Novikova whispered with wide eyes. However, now wasn't the time for conversation. The five guards were loading more ammo, not even caring that they were in a civilian area. But why would they, after all?

Zoya Nikolova

Location: The Framework
Skills: Tranquil Fury, Concussive Roar, Martial Arts Specialist

“If you want to order me around, princess, you’ll have to buy me dinner first!” Z deadpanned unamused, her British accent crisp and clear in the atmosphere of the simulated reality of the Framework. The innuendo out there for anyone to grab a hold of or dismiss. So far she’d managed to wholly ignore Tinley’s foul attitude, but under the current circumstances enough was enough. Z felt a mild ire flaring deep within her. And it burned and spread throughout her whole being, intensifying and building until it was a scorching, devastating fury. Nik’s entire body was on edge, coiled like a spring, ready to explode into action.

But as the fury raged within Z, she had the most perfect moment of tranquility. And within it an even more perfect moment of clarity. She realized that as hot as her fury raged, her mind remained as calm as the eye of a storm. Her focus sharpened to a laser point. And with that realization a sort of epiphany followed. Tranquil Fury, huh? I see. Z remembered the bizarre power that the Director had mentioned she’d received together with the Concussive Roar. Yeah, I can work with that. Turning to Tinley then she spoke.

“And so let me get this straight…” Z looked Tinley unflinching in the eyes. “You demand of us to tell you our skills, but me asking about our opponents’ is somehow stupid?!?” Nik paused for a fraction of a second, raising her eyebrow. “Sure!” She finished, her voice as level as it always was and turned her back to Tinley, ignoring her altogether. Her attention focused on Cass anew Z completely missed Tess' timid attempt at dealing with the guards. They however did not miss it and all hell broke loose in an instant. Bullets flew their way. Someone earthbended a stone wall as protection. Cass took a few slugs with no obvious ill effects and Kelley also had a hand somehow in blocking the lead hail.

"Bugger this!" Z muttered taking cover behind the stone wall. She didn't have the time to analyze who got what powers. She could already feel the ire Tinley had sparked a moment ago burn wild within her. And yet, that same tranquility still held her mind. Sharpening her focus, pinpointing the best battle scenario for her. "You might want to plug your ears." Z noted towards the whole of the group, her tone serene as a lake in summertime despite the frantic circumstances. She took a deep breath, popped out of cover and let her voice loose. The concussive power of her roar stopped any new projectiles fired their way and pushed on to knock some of the guards down, but only managing to disorient the rest.

I guess this is as much as I'll get from the first go, eh? Z considered calmly as she reached for her telescopic batons and snapped them to their full length. "I suppose if we'd want to finish them off, now would be the time." She urged.

Cassandra Reed

Location: The Framework
Skills: Mission Strategy, Dermal Armor & Handguns

Cassandra turned her attention towards Niah as she asked about what to do with the guards. "Knock them out as quickly as possible, try and not to use lethal force unless necessary." Cassandra told her, as she looked over at Zoya as she asked where the possible targets were, she honestly couldn't even remember. And she also had a feeling that Fury may have changed just about everyone's locations inside as well, to level the playing field. "The Brotherhood, unsure where they would be exactly inside of the building. However the virus should be located on the sublevels where it originally should be." Cassandra answered as she looked over and nodded towards Arcturus she did remember where the security room was located.

"Theres a security room that is located on the first floor that you could patch yourself into, and telepathy will certainly come in handy as well." Cassandra said as she watched Tinley go towards her team and started to ask about their skills, sighing slightly the girl certainly would need to learn more on working with a team which should be something that they all learned in the Ops Academy as well. When Valencia asked her about what force to use on the Brotherhood. "Same as the guards, lethal force as a last resort, and yes Quicksilver will be there, but as a member of the X-Men." Cassandra answered figuring that Fury still wanted that part of the mission to go as well.

Then Theresa decided to show off her powers, which were a bit amazing however it did end up catching the guard's attention rather quickly as all hell literally started to break lose around them. And the guards quickly started to shoot at them, their element of surprise is now out the window. She watched Novikova's ability quickly activate earth manipulation would certainly be useful as well. Then Kelley as well protecting everyone else but her. Cassandra felt three shots go off against her, looking down at her chest as three bullets harmlessly fell off of her.

Cassandra quickly drew out her I.C.E.R. as Zoya used her power as well, hearing the sound wincing slightly as her ears rung slightly but was able to shoot off five I.C.E.R. rounds and managed to shoot down all five with ease. "Team Abercrombie there is a side entrance, use that to get in. My team go in through the front got it?" Cassandra said, she thought that she would have died and was lucky that she actually survived and her ability was certainly going to get a hell of a lot of use out of.

Maria Smith

Location: The Framework
Skills: Life-Force Absorption, Power Absorption (Kelley's Telekinesis)

Maria looked at everyone who was there as they all started to talk, but her attention was mostly towards Cassandra as she listened in on her orders. She moved over towards Tinley, she worked well with her during the training and sparing matches, but they weren't friends either. Maria decided to answer her and shrugged slightly. "I'm great with a bow but i'm lacking one, before jumping in Fury told us those that stayed anyway and told us our powers. Mine is Life-Force Absorption and Power Absorption." Maria said towards her as she looked over at Team Reed as they spoke a bit more.

Then Sparks decided to show off her powers for the first time as she watched her float slightly off the ground, and watched her shoot lightening out of her fingertips. Though they all missed their mark, and then quickly the guards caught on, losing the element of surprise as she watched Novikova throw up a rock barrier, and Kelley using Telekinesis and protected the rest of the group from harm. However Maria did watch as Cass took three fatal blows, but luckily they just fell off her like it was nothing. Maria noticed that Cass had taken their forcefield/protection users and thought that they could use some as well.

"Sorry, if it hurts you." Maria said as she ran up to Teig and quickly put her hands on his arm, feeling the power go through her and then backed up. Kelley started to drop down to his knees and groaned out rather loudly feeling like he was going to puke, he turned to look over at Maria and glared at her slightly. "Give me a moment." He said groaning slightly.

Niah Bautista

Location: "Sidewalk in New York City" - The Framework
Skills: Enhanced sense - Smell; Jack of all (science)

Agent Reed had barely answered their questions and people started doing stuff. It all sort of just broke into chaos. Niah ducked and was covering her ears already when Z told them to cover their ears, and she was thankful she was. Earth was churning and Z was screaming and bullets were flying. It might be a simulation, but it felt all too real. When the guards were down in the front, Niah gave a nervous laugh "Well that answers my question."

Niah looked up at the building trying to see if maybe someone was watching from a window. As she looked up everything went black, was it a flaw in the framework? She tried to contain the panic and since no one else was reacting she had a feeling it was something with her specifically. Especially since as everything was dark, she could smell the churned Earth and pick out the difference between the cement and asphalt. She even was picking up the GSR, and the individual metals in it. On top of that, it was like she was swimming in the smells of everyone's soaps, perfumes, and blood.

A Channel, that had to be Tinley. She could smell Dove soap, there were a couple sources for that but without sight, she couldn't tell who it belonged to. Blue Seduction, mixed with various other incense, that was Z she would know that even without the strangely enhanced sense of smell. There was also a strong smell of ozone, Niah had a strong feeling that was coming from Agent Sparks. There was some irony there.

Ah, it made sense. Her hearing when she first woke up and now smell, but she was blind in exchange. What had she lost for the hearing? Then she remembered the taste in her mouth and how it hadn't been there at first.

"I have enhanced senses, or at least I can enhance them." At will? She took a deep breath and let the sense go, vision returning to her. She was thankful that she was no longer being assaulted by smells, though it felt like some of them were still stuck in her nose, though that just might have been the dust from Agent Novikova's Earth manipulation. "Also a bit of a toxicology nerd so I'll see what I can do about the virus, however, I am not an epidemiologist." Not that she was an actual medical professional or an immunologist but she didn't think anyone in the group was either.

Tinley Abercrombie

Location: Sci-Tech Building 4 - Phase Three HQ: Virtual Training Session
Skills: Mind Control (Discovered)

Tinley fought hard to hold in the anger she was feeling. She wanted the group she was forced to be a part of together to discuss strategy, and of course Agent Nikolova decided to continue acting like a bitch. She didn't want to be here and be part of this, but she was here and she'd make the most of it. "There's a difference between asking logical questions at opportune times and asking pointless questions during the worst time. We are on a mission, not a field trip. We would have already been briefed." She ignored Agent Nikolova, though she thought more.

"I just wish you'd punch yourself in the face, dumbass."

Tinley wouldn't know it, but she felt a vibration inside her. She ignored it as the other team told her their abilities. They sounded useful. Before she could strategize, guards came out and started attacking.

And the others were on it, with Nikolova unleashing a giant cry and Cassandra taking out the remainder. "All right. Never mind then. Still, useful abilities all around. Definitely going to need that inside with the Brotherhood. Let's get going then." She said as Cassandra ordered her to the side entrance. She made her way over, glancing over at Nikolova to see how she felt about the brief compliment given.

Val made a face that one makes when they are really disappointed in something when she heard about the non lethal authorization they were given only. She always found that completely and utterly absurd. Going non lethal against people who most obviously will enjoy killing you was downright stupid. Even if they didn't kill the humans because they might be just a hired hands or forced into it, they should be taking care of their mutant enemies more permanently. Chances are that if they themselves are caught by the enemy, their fate would be near certain death unless the evil guys want to trade prisoners.

She was just about prepared to head slowly and surely into sneaking to help taking care of the guards when shit went to the fan with a speed comparable to the speed of sound. Novikova protected them with her earth bending powers, she'd better call her Toph from now on and then there was Kelley's power that protected them too. Cassandra their team leader was the only one to get nailed by three shots it seemed, but luckily her power stopped them well enough.

Then the badguys got neutralized by Agent Reed in quick notice with a stunt weapon. Still not the perfect solution in Val's eyes, but it will have to do. She quickly moved in to take part of the entrance breach.” Got it, boss. ” She stated, pulling her own sidearm, she wasn't really sure what her power was as it had yet to manifest, but she hoped it was useful to have. Anyhow as long as they weren't killed all was fair game right? She'd just shoot them in the legs, it was effective enough to put a person to the ground. She was now only waiting for a signal to commence the breaching.

Arcturus Hale

Location: The Framework
Skills: Telepathy

With the guards at the front entrance being dispatched with ease, Arcturus made a careful mental note of the others' powers as they surfaced, at least the ones that had tangible effects on the world around them. It was helpful to know who to duck behind when the bullets were flying in his direction, at least.

Though the urgency of the timed mission was not lost on him, it still wasn't real. The stakes were low, like sitting an exam. Nikolova and Tinley's spat (if it could even be called that) would be less acceptable out in the field, but here in the Framework, not so much. Then again, if they royally fouled it up, a dressing down would be in order, and Arcturus couldn't think of anything worse.

Good luck, he thought at Niah once the teams had split, encouraging in tone but quiet in volume. Although he did not catch any visible reaction, turned away as he was, he was fairly certain that it worked, and that he could transmit as well as receive. It would help him keep in contact with Agent Reed, so long as he wasn't limited by the distance, but quite frankly, her competency was intimidating and he didn't want to be a distraction as he figured out the ins and outs of his power.

Arcturus followed his team to the side-entrance, trailing behind the operations specialists who were better equipped to deal with any threats. Reaching out with his ability, he pushed past all of the presences he could recognise, familiar and foreign at the same time, to stay on the lookout for more guards in the vicinity of the side entrance. If nothing else, he would try to be an early warning system until they cleared the upper floors.

@ihinka@BlueSky44@Kirah@rivaan@Nallore@FantasyChic@McHaggis@17th Day@Peridot
Present Day - S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy: August 14th, 2020 - 9:50 A.M.

"Sir, with all due respect, Miss Isley does have experience in this area that you cannot gain simply from reading about late stage mutations, terringenesis, and exposure to gamma radiation cocktails," Simmons interjected. She knew Fury didn't like the idea of getting help from someone who, in his mind, had tried to flaunt that their team was better than S.H.I.E.L.D. And of course, he blamed her for poaching an agent he had been grooming to become a real force in the science and engineering division. "Fine, but you so much as breathe funny, Isley, and you're done."

"Alright alright I get it, just consider me helping you as somewhat of a parting gift for the partnership ending," she said, looking at the others in the room. The only one she recognized was Fury, and they seemed to at least know somewhat who she was, then again, SHIELD seemed to know everything except how to deal with their own problems.

"Then I guess me not putting an arrest warrant out for your quick footed friend is my gift to you," Fury muttered, heading out the door. He had other things to attend to.

"Honestly, pretty sure he actually expects that, but whatever. So, who are you three? Since you all already seem to know me, might as well at least having me know your names?" she said, looking at the others in the room.

"Jemma Simmons, BioTech," Simmons said, extending a hand to Mary with a smile. "This is Leo Fitz, engineering, and my husband...The girl with the auburn hair is Chloe Ridgeway - she's medical staff. And then the man eating the ice cream sandwich is James Kennedy - though we all call him Uncle Jim around here."

"Nice to meet you, Marygold Isley of the X-Men, but you all knew that already," she said, tossing a few plant seeds into the air, turning them into vines and they started swirling around her slightly. Occasionally a flower would spurt up from them out of no where, but then it would go back to just being vines.

Simmons couldn't help but smile, meanwhile Jim had opened up another ice cream sandwich package for himself. "Chlorokinesis is rather beautiful," Simmons complimented with a smile. Agent Ridgeway rolled her eyes, feeling like it was an unneeded display of power. "So where do we start? I hope there's no yellow spandex in there....I've seen the footage of Wolverine on the telly..."

"Don't worry, even I mock him for that one," she said with a smirk, "And don't worry, no yellow spandex, I've just got a few things that might be able to help people with their powers until they learn to control them themselves."

The Framework: 40 Minutes Remaining

Team Glitches (@Peridot@17th Day):

Both of your characters had missed the talk as to what exactly your powers were, instead putting on the virtual reality head gear instantly. Yet Agent Fitz had been worried that there might be a few bugs in the programming and this just so happens to be the case when you open your eyes. You're inside the top floor of a building, crouched behind what seems to be a bunch of unused desks and cubicles. And although you cannot see anyone on the floor with you yet from your hiding place, Rhodes will get the sensation that a lot of powerful individuals are up there. Rhodes won't be able to hone in on all of the abilities or get a count as to how many they are, but he'll get the feeling people with the following abilities are up there -

  • Super Speed - Extremely dangerous and powerful, almost at max potential
  • A Latent Mutant - potential unknown
  • Accelerated Probability, Precognition, Telekinesis - moderately developed

Team Abercrombie (@FantasyChic@ihinka@McHaggis@BlueSky44@Nallore):

Just as Agent Reed described, there is a side entrance to the facility that can be accessed via an alleyway to the left of the building. With the guards all taken out by Reed's I.C.E.R. blasts, there's nothing stopping you from going into the alleyway. And when you try the side door, it swings open freely. For whatever reason, the Brotherhood didn't seem to think they'd need to lock it and no alarms trigger either as you enter.

There's a hallway in front of you with several doors that you can split off to take. The last door on the right has a small symbol indicating that it leads to a staircase. No guards have come to greet you yet, but you will notice alarming smears of blood on the walls. Smashed pieces of a S.H.I.E.L.D. issued drone kit litter the ground, along with a crushed walkman tape labeled: Happy Birthday to my Uptown Girl.

Now, Nikolova would begin to feel an urge to smack herself in the face, due to Tinley's newly discovered power of mind control. Hale and Tinley would both also hear an uncomfortable thought, though it's distant - as if belonging to the other group. How much longer do we have to hide in the shadows? HYDRA will make a better world anyways... The thought belongs to a female - someone rather familiar to Tinley.

Dominika Novikova

Framework Location: Lab Front Entrance
Skills: Dimensional Energy Perception (Passive), Earth Manipulation, Jack of All Trades (Engineering)

As Team Reed approaches the front entrance for the breach, Agents Johnson, Novikova, and Kelley will spot an alarm system that was rigged to trigger if the door was opened. "Wait!" Novikova hissed, looking at the (often) trigger happy Operations agents. "There's an alarm, let me disable it first," she then explained, figuring that very few outside of Sci-Tech would have been able to recognize the system. She reached into her pocket, fishing around for what she had on her. She had her lock pick, wallet, and then her locket. It took her a moment to examine the system and she jumped up, trying to reach it - only to unknowingly bring a small platform made of Earth up with her.

It was a few minutes before she had pried open the panel on it carefully and unplugged one of the wires, rerouting it that way the alarm would never signal, as it'd never detect the door as opening. She then awkwardly jumped down off of the platform. "Now it's clear," Novikova whispered. Of course, that said nothing about what was on the other side of the door.

Agent Rivera huffed. "Come on, we're running out of time," she muttered with irritation. She couldn't help but stare at the door intensely, wondering who was lurking behind it and a moment later, she had discovered her power of Portal Teleportation. The door seemed to shimmer purple before a moment later, it was gone. There was just a large gaping hole and Agent Rivera twirled her battle staves. "I can see two hostiles at our twelve o'clock - should we move?"

Indeed, through the giant hole she had created, two individuals could be spotted. Richard Laine, better known as the Adder and Elizabeth Roswell, known on the streets as Wonderland. A moment later, a human guard came into view, looking a bit nervous as he spotted the breach. "Oh crap..." he muttered, as Wonderland then turned around and roughly tossed the guard aside, her skin touching his face and as he hit the ground, he was babbling nonsense. "Looks like it's time to play, Richie."

Theresa Sparks

Location: Lab Side Entrance
Skills: N/A

Sparky looked around at the lab as they wandered over to the side entrance. Cassandra had taken out the front guards pretty easily, which she was amazed by, but she had almost screwed everything up. The guards had seen her try to fry them, and they had started shooting because of it, and she couldn't help but blame herself slightly for it. At least it hadn't resulted in anyone's death, at least Cassandra was bullet proof or something, so she had lucked out on it.

She was still hovering an inch or so off the ground as she followed her group to the side entrance, heading inside. It was a little weird to her, that there wasn't anything stopping them from entering the building from this door, not to mention the fact that there wasn't any alarms. Most buildings had some sort of security system, but this one didn't. Once inside, she realized why, and it was obvious that someone had come through this way before them. "What's the plan?" she asked the others softly, looking at the hallway, and the remains of what had obviously been some sort of fight.

Zoya Nikolova

Location: The Framework
Skills: Tranquil Fury, Jack of All Trades (Engineering), Martial Arts Specialist

Z watched impressed as Agent Reed dispatched the guards without so much as batting an eye. Well, I guess we know why she is the SA. As Cass instructed Tinley and their team to take the side entrance the blonde once again took the lead acknowledging the abilities of her team members as they were revealed to her. Z joined the team, glancing at Tess. Is she... hovering?!? Z grinned. Strangely, the sight of the airborne, even only a few inches off the ground, electrical engineer grounded her like she'd never expected. And instead of the usual apprehension at being in the same space with her fellow Sci-Tech, Nik felt the rage boiling within her subside a little bit.

As the fury retreated deeper still, until it was time to be called upon again, Z realized that she would probably never see eye to eye with Tinley, but that didn’t mean they had to continue with this bickering. Well, at the very least Z was disinterested with continuing. She sighed. They were just polar opposites and agreeing to disagree might very well be the best the two could ever achieve. So Z took a deep breath, exhaled, and let it all go.

As the team approached the side entrance she spoke quietly. “Apart from the bit of shouting there… Anything to do with explosives is my bread and butter. I’m also trained in emergency medicine and am certified in a number of hand to hand systems.” Z paused. She wasn’t sure she could explain properly her Tranquil Fury power to her teammates. “As for my other power… Well. Unlike the roar, it’s more of a mental thing. It will certainly enhance my hand to hand and bring it to another level altogether. As for any other benefits and uses of it. I guess I’ll see with time and practice.”

Z glanced at Tinley. “We tried asking the Director about the powers of those, who entered the Framework earlier, but he wouldn’t tell us.” Nik shrugged. “He was being his usual daft old sod.” There, olive branch extended. “Sorry.” Z offered quietly just as the group reached the entrance. What awaited them there was nothing if a bad omen. No guards! No alarm on the doors! They entered with caution and were greeted by a gruesome sight. The walls were covered with blood. The coppery smell of it permeated the hall. Still fresh. Not good! Z thought as she scanned the floor. Bits of what looked like S.H.I.E.L.D. issue drone kit were strewn all over it. I wonder if I could get some data out of it. Z mused, placing her batons within reach and took out her multi-tool in an attempt to salvage something, anything from the poor guy. Alas, it was beyond repair.

"Well, that was a bust." Nik muttered and frowned a bit just as she felt this strange urge that gripped her and balled her right hand into a fist. A fist that itched to hit. Her own face! Her hand moved. Z watched gobsmacked the clenched, shaking fist as it made its way to her face and just as she was about to punch herself the familiar fury rose within her. And with it the calmness that helped her see clearly even within the rage. I don't want to hit myself in the face! The approaching fist slackened and Nik managed to intercept the open palm with her forehead. Slap! Z blinked as the rage subsided in an instant and her hand dropped down to her side. She looked at it flabbergasted for a second or two, wiggling her fingers a bit. Just then Tess' voice broke her focus with her quiet question.

Z glanced in her direction, the strange incident with the urge to punch herself in the face filed away for later analysis. Does she even know she's doing that? Nik grinned as she observed Tess' hovering feet. And there, a few inches to her right Z noticed a cassette tape labeled Happy Birthday to my Uptown Girl. The explosives engineer took it gingerly and retrieving her batons as well stretched to her full height. All five feet and three inches of it! This thing will be a collectable item soon with all things going digital so fast. Might as well take it. "By the way..." She intoned, her eyes on the tape, a slight smile on her lips. "You know you're hovering, right?" Z glanced at Tess briefly, before returning her gaze to the tape. She could barely make out a signature near the label. Nik brought the cassette closer to her eyes and turned it this and that way, squinting her eyes in an attempt to focus on the signature a little better. Finally a name popped out at her. Pietro. "Pietro..." Z muttered out loud. Could this be Pietro Maximoff?!? Considering we're up against the Brotherhood and Magneto is his dad. It's not a huge reach.

"I'm not sure what the plan is..." Z answered belatedly Tess' question. "But look at this. It's a cassette tape. Which is not the important part. It is signed. And I can make out the name Pietro from the signature. Now, had I found a tape signed by someone named Pietro at any other place it wouldn't be significant. But here, with two confirmed Maximoffs in attendance... How big of a stretch would it be to assume he dropped it, or whoever he gave it to, dropped it? This 'birthday girl' maybe?" Z questioned, pocketting the tape. "I also tried to salvage any data from those drone bits over there, but they're completely dead." The explosives engineer sighed. "So to mirror Tes... Ah..." Z stopped herself before calling Tess out loud like she did in her head. "Agent Sparks' question. What's the plan?" Z managed to finish. "I'm sure we can all tell that blood is fresh and we probably don't want to be dilly-dallying here too much." Nik looked at Tinley. Whatever her reaction would be to Z's words this time around, Nik knew she would answer with nothing but calmness at the very least.

Niah Bautista

Location: "Front entrance" - The Framework
Skills: N/A

Niah trailed behind the others walking up to the building. She knew there was very little she could do before or during a fight. She was about to be sad she didn't have a kit with her when she realized her powers made her a walking CSI kit. Now wasn't the time to start playing around with what her senses could do. But she was very curious about how well she could see when she did. Niah already knew she could hear heartbeats, and smell at least mild chemical makeups. She hadn't tried to smell anything more than what the others had on, but she had been able to tell the types of metal in the GSR. So it stood to reason if she wanted to she could have figured out the exact chemical make up of the soaps and perfumes. That was amazing and would save a ton of time in the lab if it was reliable. She grinned, she was going to have to do some testing!

Niah's thinking had gotten her to the door and through Agent Novikova's hacking into the system, but the sight of Adder and Wonderland through some purple thing that disappeared to leave a gaping hole that they could easily walk through. Her known power was useless in a fight, and her skills were useless in a fight. So she did what was easily the smartest thing for her to do and ducked around the wall so she wasn't in the way of anyone.

Niah noticed one of the unconscious guards and saw a radio clipped to his hip. She grinned and pulled it off his hip connecting it to her own. She wondered as she set it up if there was anything else that would be useful on the guard, but she knew they had bullets in their guns and that was a lethal weapon. She also was not experienced enough with them to use.

The radio chirped. Niah paused worried that the Brotherhood knew they were there. <So glad Quicksilver is back on our side> That was about Pietro Maximoff, she had to warn the others. If he was working with the Brotherhood it was a curveball. Agent Reed had said very clearly that Quicksilver would be here but as part of the x-men.

She turned around and joined the group back up as they were dealing with Wonderland and Adder, still keep herself out of the line of fire behind the wall. She waited for a moment when Agent Reed wasn't occupied and told her "I just heard over the radio," She held it up to explain. "That Quicksilver is working for the Brotherhood."

Cassandra Reed

Location: The Framework
Skills: Mission Strategy, Dermal Armor & Handguns

Cassandra led the others towards the front entrance of the lab and stopped, she knew that there was a security system in place when Novikova pointed it out. She took out her ICER and back faced the entrance in case there was some others that decided to come from the outside. When Novikova finally disabled the door's security she smiled towards her and gave her a pat on the shoulder, when Agent Rivera got trigger happy she ended up discovering her power which was a form of teleportation which was pretty useful as well she thought as Cassandra quickly stepped through it.

Coming out of the other side she instantly spotted both Richard Laine as well as Lizzie, she watched the woman knock out the guard with her powers, and now he was a babbling buffoon on the ground. She aimed her ICER at both Richard and Lizzie as she fired six rounds three each for both of them. Richard ended up going down after the third shot, while Lizzie took two her last one missing and she didn't even seem to be phased by them.

Cass turned her attention towards Agent Bautista when she pointed out on the radio that Pietro was with the Brotherhood, she had a feeling that Fury would replace him on the X-Men Roster to the Brotherhood. But she wasn't sure what else he had cooked up in the Framework for them to deal with. "Thanks for the info Bautista, everyone keep your distance from Lizzie her powers are hallucinogenic touch and illusion manipulation." Cassandra said as she took several steps back and looked among everyone else. "If you know your powers and they are useful then use it."

Maria Smith

Location: The Framework
Skills: Life-Force Absorption, Power Absorption (Kelley's Telekinesis)

Maria followed everyone towards the side entrance, she would remain pretty close towards Tinley, and when they got to the side entrance she was actually pretty surprised that the side entrance's alarm didn't go off. When she entered Maria knelt down and looked at the trashed SHIELD drone kit. When Zoya said that it was completely useless Maria lightly kicked a piece down the hallway as her attention turned towards everyone else. She noticed Zoya started to punch herself a few times, which was a bit funny to see, but Maria didn't say anything.

"So got any good tunes on there?" Maria asked her as she pocketed the cassette tape, before turning to look over towards Tinley it seemed that she was their acting team leader for the mission. Maria remembered their order was to secure the upper floors which wasn't a bad plan, she didn't know anything about viruses. "We should secure the upper floors and then see if we should aid the others downstairs?" Maria suggested, it was the best idea she could think of and sticking to the plan. Her powers would also be really useful as well against the Brotherhood she could easily take their powers temporarily.

Tinley Abercrombie

Location: Sci-Tech Building 4 - Phase Three HQ: Virtual Training Session
Skills: N/A

Tinley felt an odd sense when she glanced over at Agent Nikolova as the woman smacked herself. She fought the urge to chuckle, but she also felt the weird sense inside of her. As if she had controlled the movement. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together as they entered the facility. "Seems I have some type of mind control since I'm the reason you just smacked yourself Nikolova. Sorry." She may have apologized, but she definitely didn't hide the smirk on her face.

The blood was troublesome, to be sure. But they had a mission to do. No guards inside as of yet. "We don't have much time, that's true. Okay, let's head upstairs and get that secured first. Top priority. If hostiles show up, we let them have it. Unsure if our powers have a limit use on them as they are new, so try not to go overboard with them, especially since we are new to having them." She broke up the impromptu meeting and made her way down towards the stairs.

As she walked, she heard a voice inside her head. Rather, she heard a thought. It sounded familiar. Definitely, someone she knew. And what it spoke made her feel ill. Especially since she knew who it was. The mission was important. She would finish that first. But as soon as it was over, she would have to deal with this new informaton.

Valencia Johnson

Location: The Framework
Skills: N/A

Valencia was by the entrance when the alarm was spotted, she quickly halted and pulled a little back as Novikova called for them to wait.” I know... these things have to be done methodically despite everything.” She stated with a smile, waiting for the tech specialists to neutralize the alarm. Given enough time and preparations the ops agents should be able to deal with the targets even if the alarm was rang, but the perfect mission scenario often called for silence of all alarms. If it was only herself she'd opt to infiltrate through a side entrance or even one of the windows by scaling the walls if she had to.

As they were waiting for the girl to neutralize the alarm, Johnson looked around, studying the surroundings again. There was the needed time to clear the door of the alarm, but some of them were running out of patience. How is someone that impatient an agent, wondered Valencia, but shrugged it off. She was an agent and she was adrenaline junkie more or less so who was she to judge. Still shit didn't hit the fan at least until the door vanished leaving a big hole instead. That she didn't expect and mind you was not a good thing since they could spot hostiles on the other side. She went for her sidearm... Then discovered she didn't have a sidearm. What? Wait she wasn't carrying it usually at the academy, but assumed some weapons will be given in the simulation, she guessed wrong then.

As Cassandra jumped into action, Valencia was not far behind. She moved through the breach next to the senior agent, her eyes locked at Wonderland. The woman had neutralized one of her own soldiers so that was good, but her powers which didn't allow for a hand to hand combat was not as good. Still they had to neutralize her and Valencia acted as fast as her mind allowed to. In a reach of a moment she grabbed the nearby extinguisher, aimed it at Wonderland and pulled the trigger. At luck it had filler in it! Amazing! It shot out and with good aiming and luck, Val nailed her right in the mouth with the extinguisher! Wonderland was naturally not well with it as she started gagging right away. Hey one successful distraction done.
