โโโโโโโโโโStanding at six feet tall, and fairly well-built, not overly muscled yet not overly thin either, Roderick presents with an elegant appearance more often than not just out of habit. He was raised to dress nicely, after all, and a man doesnโt forget what his parents instilled in him. He usually has his dark brown hair slicked back, kept cut relatively short/not extending past the nape of his neck and his steely blue eyes have an arresting quality to them. Women have been known to get lost in his eyes and others have said he can look as if heโs seeing into their soul.
Sartorially he favors well-cut suits, vests, scarves and the like. When heโs working, he occasionally forgoes the jacket but keeps the vest and pants, plus a scarf. Heโs been known to wear gloves in the past, although they arenโt a necessity, and heโs never without his ever-present signet ring. He favors black and dark blue with pressed white shirts over the usual earth tones when in proper society, but breaks with that habit when heโs on the airship as heโs been known to wear grays and browns there along with the occasional hint of his dark colors and heโs also been known to accessorize with silver to bring out the steeliness of his eye color.
Also, he has a stylized tattoo of a fox on the inside of his right forearm, usually hidden at all times but it stands as his true identifying mark, honoring his nickname.

โโโโโโโโโโFrom his parents, Roderick has inherited a rather highly astute ability to talk his way out of just about any situation, and to ingratiate himself to whomever he feels the need to (be it as an ally or to fool an enemy into trusting him. That and well-developed reflexes, which have come in useful with his alternate identity insofar as heโs managed to become quite the pickpocket and yet also avoid any sort of danger of being caught.

โโโโโโโโโโIn a nutshell, Roderick is a gentleman, a thief and most recently, a pirate. It all depends on how heโs feeling that day, and in some instances, he can be considered all three

โโโโโโโโโโCalculating, observant, intelligent, honorable (to those he feels deserve it), cunning, witty, debonair, rationalizing (in some ways, his thievery has a level of Robin Hood quality to it. he doesnโt steal from anyone who wouldnโt miss it. Plus, his outward persona is involved in charity organizations.), loyal to whomever heโs working with, persuasive, polished, charming
Above all, Roderick has spent most of his life being the man that people want to know, both professionally and otherwise. People are drawn to him for various reasons (Not entirely his appearance, that is, although that certainly hasnโt hurt) and heโs fully aware of how to handle them.
Acquired Taste: literature, opera, gambling, brandy and cigarettes, the occasional prostitute, whiskey
Political Attitude: liberal
List of Lovers: quite possibly endless, as people are drawn to Roderick and he occasionally entertains a relationship with them. Some people surmise that he has a mistress or even wife left behind, yet he wonโt say whether that is true or not. Mystery abounds when it comes to knowing his romantic status.

โโโโโโโโโโWith his presence in both worlds, ostensibly Roderick is useful when it comes to maintaining contacts with necessary villains, metaphorically. That and his presence on an airship could come in immensely useful as he is essentially a spy without officially being a member of any established espionage rings. He has the ability to blend in with upper class society, and he can just as easily blend in with the criminal element, depending on which name heโs going by at the time.

โโโโโโโโโโAbove all, Roderick prefers to deal with confrontation verbally, using his inherent charm to talk his way out of nearly every situation heโs found himself in. Not only that, but heโs not afraid to seduce if the need arises, and it has.

โโโโโโโโโโBorn to members of the upper class (his father had a position in the Legionnaire Guild and his mother belonged to the Scholar Guild), Roderick Derrington was instructed in the finer things from the start. His childhood was peppered with literary events, balls and all other activities that the aristocracy reveled in, and he found it all fascinating. Any method of learning was something he pursued, especially once his family had moved their household to Hourglass City, giving him any matter of new experiences to enjoy. In some ways, his parents had always instilled liberalism in him, teaching him that, while he was much more important than those in the streets, they were people too and should be respected as such. He was educated, yet that didnโt make him better than others. Not only that, but he was able to experience other societies as his parents took him along on trips to various other locations, all generally upper class. He learned new things in every place, and once they returned he had no difficulty in finding a place at the Institute. While there, he excelled in the finer subjects although he felt a bit stifled by the lesser-known aspects of his school.
Namely, while he was fully accepting of his genius status, he knew that deep down he was far from evil, or insane. Due to this, he found himself choosing to leave the Institute shortly before he was set to graduate, and he returned to his life in the upper class and the activities his parents always exposed him to, ostensibly looking as if he was trying to distance himself from the unsavory element. However, even as a child before he attended the Institute,, he had always been told that he should stay away from the more unsavory neighborhoods. Contrary to those wishes, he found that area fascinating, and it was there that his education in other pursuits happened. He found he had an aptitude for pickpocketing, as well as various other thievery techniques, and he found himself falling back into those habits after leaving the Institute.
The difference between him and the other thieves and criminals in the city was that he could go about it entirely unnoticed. His status provided cover, and stories began to surface of a mysterious criminal, intelligent and cultured. It was from there that his nickname of โThe Foxโ stemmed, and he sports a stylized tattoo of a fox on the inside of his forearm to honor that. The identifying mark is easily hidden after all, and to this day nobody knows the true identity of The Fox.
That and, one day, he stumbled upon the Twilight Imposter during one of his excursions, and the fascination with the airship pirates, first begun wile in school, took hold. He talked his way on board the next day and joined the crew. For the most part he found himself tasked with odd jobs, usually involving going off ship when they land and acquiring whatever is needed, be it supplies or information, yet heโs retained the gentleman nature that has always been a part of him. Itโs entirely possible that he could find himself crewing his own ship one day, but until then, The Fox is content where he is. Not only that, but he has no problem exposing the others to his knowledge and pursuits. The charmer has only found a new environment to explore, and now that heโs been invited on yet another adventure, the mystery of where he could find himself only expands.

โโโโโโโโโโWhile at the Institute, heโd developed a rather close friendship with Captain Playfoot, kind of a master/protรฉgรฉ relationship even though Roderick never outwardly showed an interest in his subjects. Instead, itโs what led to him applying to join the Merchant guild
