A disability, that's what it's called, the contrary of an ability, something that interferes with your regular life and defines you as less capable than other people. It made sure that you were no longer able to attend the school you used to be in, or perhaps you've never really gone to a normal school because of it. Your ties with the word normal grow less and less sure, it's as if upon learning of your disability, you were no longer regarded as normal by society. Normal is such an odd concept anyway, who decides what's normal and what isn't? Who gets to determine if you're able to fit in with normal people? It's unfair, but you should realize that it's okay to not be normal, to just be your own kind of normal and allow other people to be that too. A disability is something that holds you back, but it's not something that defines you, you're still you, and not even your condition will change that.

Whether you wanted to or not, you are no longer in the position to go to a regular school. Instead, you've enrolled into a school designed specifically for people who are in a similar situation as you are. A school for disabled students. There are those that call it an opportunity, a clean slate, right? A chance to start all over again. Yet, that doesn't take away the fact that each and every person there would not be labeled normal by society and you're now one of them. However, in this school, having a disability is considered normal and an every day fact.
This school was not designed to simply take care of students, quite the contrary. In fact, this school is designed to teach students how to take care of themselves, rather than relying solely on other people. While catering to the special needs of some students, the teachers and the staff wish to ensure that each and every person graduates and becomes a full and valued member of society, not held back by their disability and giving them the chance to achieve whatever it is they want to achieve with their lives with the funds and facilities available. To this end, Yamaku pays even more attention to students' ambitions and plans after the graduate.

Welcome to Yamaku, the starting grounds of your new life.

(The main entrance of Yamaku.)

Now that we have the introduction out of the way, some elaboration is in order. Yamaku high , as explained beforehand, a school designed to take care of students with disabilities and give them equal chances as everyone else. Yamaku has special facilities to offer for almost every student with a disability. In an auxiliary building, right next to the dormitories, there is a nursing staff that is available every moment of every day. Other than nurses, there are also a couple of therapists who help students with their non-physical conditions or the mental issues that physical conditions can cause on one's mind. Keep in mind that Yamaku is primarily designed for people with physical disabilities, such as deaf, blind or missinglimb as examples. What wouldn't be accepted were people with schizophrenia or split personalities.

The grounds around Yamaku are lush, large and very green, almost abnormally so for a school. This helps to set the tone for how the school is meant to be perceived, a place of rest and ease. It succeeds in maintaining this image because of the fact that it is located on a hill overlooking a valley, with nothing but a small village down the hill as the only civilization in the neighborhood. In addition to that, the grounds are kept neat and tidy on an almost analytical level, this school having the funds to employ much of these standards that might seem excessive for a school thanks to many benefactors and charities funding the project.

Reflecting the pompous exterior that gave the effect of trying to be more than a school due to its rather traditional architecture, the interior is large and spacious as well. Yamaku's hallways are broad and equipped with a railing for people who might need support getting around. Needless to say, the entire school is completely handicap accessible, multiple elevators and slopes ensuring that people in wheelchairs or with other disabilities can get around flawlessly. The windows are roofs of each and every single room appear to be high, giving an impression of space everywhere and allowing sunlight to light every single chamber as well.

Apart from the auxiliary building where the nurse staff keeps a vigilant watch, the school houses a lot of other facilities for the students. On its large grounds, you can find a track field where just about any kind of sport can be practiced, from rugby to track and field. In the auxiliary building, there is also a swimming pool, though this is mostly used not for recreation, but for rehabilitation. For those with a less sportive attitude, Yamaku is home to a rather large and well stocked library as well. Plenty of the books are in Braille or on audio, which means that even blind or partially blind people should have no excuse to not frequently use this place.

Given the sense of ease and security that Yamaku radiates, most students prefer to live on the campus, in the dormitories, close by the nursing staff that can be called upon 24/7. These dormitories are, of course, separated, both genders have a building of their own. The only thing that prevents coming to one another's building however, are the social barriers that students put up themselves, as Yamaku is quite lenient when it comes to rules in accordance to special situations that might arise with its students. It should be kept in mind that there are several of the staff that will make sure that the curfew is kept in effect.

We'll be starting a little bit into the first semester of the new school year, even though your character might have been in Yamaku before that. Of course, the staff has taken care with the placement of chambers, students in the same class will probably share a hall in the dormitories to facilitate relationships between students.

A lot of clubs exist to have students pass the time outside of the lessons, such as an art club, a book club, a track team, a soccer club, a drama club and much more. With the new school year coming, there'll be a couple of elections inside the student body. First of all, there is the need to appoint a class representative who is in charge of keeping order in the class, resolving disputes between students and oversee special projects such as the preparations for the school festival or a field trip. Other than that, later on in the year the position for the new student council will open up too, those with ambition to be on the council should already make sure to think about their repuation and the upcoming election campaign.

As mentioned beforehand, Yamaku is located on top of a hill overlooking a rather lush valley with a town at the bottom. The remarkable nature all around Yamaku is no doubt one of its good qualities, as it is mosty surrounded by forests. A road right next to Yamaku leads to the nearby city, which is about a twenty minute drive on the bus. The bus comes every morning and evening for the students that should choose not to live in the dormitories at school.

List of players and characters!

Name: Sakura Kushuda.

Gender: Female.

Sexuality: Bicurious.

Age: 18.

Appearance:

Sakura is a tall person, even more so due to her pure japanese heritage. Often she is taller than most girls and just as tall or taller than most males. Her body seems to have develloped rapidly, even though she might still have some issues to adapt to how suddenly she has changed over the course of time thanks to her recent struggles. However, while she is tall, she is skinny rather than genuinely slender, lacking a great deal of muscles that she lost during the time she was incapacitated. Although she is gradually recovering rom this, gaining muscle every day, to thetrained eye one could still be able to observe how weak she was in this area.
While most of the time she is able to walk on her own, she often carries a cane around with her for when things get difficult, coping with the issues of getting used to her suddenly so long limbs and the lack of muscles to work them as properly as she had liked.

The most distinct feature about Sakure is most probably her long, red hair, reaching all the way down, past her waist. While it might not be the most convenient hair of all time, she sees little use in shortening it as she refrains from activities where it might get in the way anyway. Rather, she prizes herself over her hair, often seen fondling or striking her long, slender fingers through it.

While outwards appearance is not often her greatest concern, she enjoys spending time taking care of herself, combing her long hair until it shone flawlessly. Her dress code out of school was quite distinct, whereas she doesn't dress to impress other, but merely for her own amusement, taking great pleasure in looking a little differently from the majority of the people. Her fondness of ribbons and hair accessories is shown every day, sporting a wide collection of them, hardly a day goes by where one might be able to see the same accessorry in her hair, or in the same spot.

From the accident, she had a few minor burn scars on her left hip and the upper part of her left arm, feeling a little ashamed of them. Other than that, her skin is quite pale, a sympton she got from her life secluded and indoors, as well as the three long years that sh had spent in the hospital, because of this, she is also a little more vulnerable to the light of the sun, and easier to get burnt by it, being somewhat on the frail side in general.

Personality: While not as shy as she could be perceived at first, she is not quite the most extroverted person around. Often she prefers to remains silent when she can and assess the situation to form a good opinion, before oepning her mouth and speaking. Her time alone is something she genuinely enjoys, finding not too much need to interact with other people constantly. That does not mean that she enjoys being lonely. As a human being, she still craves for social contact, although she might be a little more picky on with who, when and how frequent she wishes this. Another factor in this tale is that she simply is unaware of how exactly to behave around people her age, and can be a little awkward because of this, rather than a genuine distaste, she is aware of the discomfort she can cause.

Her demeanor is often a little distracted, if not even a little ditzy from time to time. Indeed, her mind liked to wander, often indulging in the fantasies she managed to conjure up that distracted her from the real world. This often leads her to spac out, sometimes not even catching on when someone is talking to her or even failing at things that required a larger amount of concentration. Furthermore, her longlimbed body takes some tme to get used to, making her clumsy at times. Bumping her elbow into things or kocking items off of a table being a couple of examples.

Skills: Being an avid reader, Sakura is very adept at learning swiftly, as well as taking in information at a very high pace, able to draw conclusions and think logically about a majority of topics. She is able to soak in information quickly if one can manage to get her to concentrate, which is not always as easy as it sounds though.

Bio: Sakura grew up in the family of a wealthier family as the second child of a prospering businessman. Due to her life on the countryside, she was somewhat secluded from most of the world, attending elementary school like a normal person, but preferring to remain at home out of her own accord most of the time. From the moment she was able to read, she kept asking for Her favorite way to spend her leisure time was burrying her nose in the countless books her family had amassed during their time. It became aparant to her parents that their daughter was gifted with high intelligence, sending her to a school for gifted people after she had finished her elementary school, as they ha wished her to experience a normal early childhood first, but wished to develop her talents better afterwards.

While she was able to consume books at a very rapid pace, her favorite genre had to be everything that was even remotely close to fantasy, losing herself in the splendid tales of distant wolds and foreign cultures all too happily. This, added to the fact that she enrolled in a special school added to her seclusion, while her parents grewmore and more protective of her and didn't mind tht they were able to keep a better eye on her each time she holed herself up in the library. It was not as if she was unpopular at school or lacked any particular set of social skills, rather that she simply preferred to be silent when she could and chose the company of books over the company of her newfund classmates, whom she often through to be arrogant and too obsessed with themselves.

One day, on her way back from school on the train, since her school for the gifted was located in the big city, her life changed forver. DUe to an electrical malfunction, the train she was on derailed and slammed into a building, hurling her through the carriage she was in and slamming her head against the side of the vehicle with disastrous consequences.

Fortunately, Sakura was pulled loose from the wreckage with only minor physical injuries that managed to heal over time, which made her luckier than several of the other passenger. However, there was more than simply surface damage, havin suffered a great trauma to her head during the crash. Within a few days, the doctors had to inform her parents that she was unlikely to wake up as soon as they might hope, she was comatose.

After what seemed like an eternal lasting three years to her family, Sakura finally woke from her coma, with all the consequences that not having used her body for so long meant. Nearly all of her muscles had deteriorated as well as her flesh until she was little more than skin and bones. The long recovery followed, where immense physical therpahy helped her bit by bit to regain her ability to walk and sue her limbs as intended. It proved difficult however, conidering how her body had gone through a massive growth during her time asleep, giving her little time to adjust suddenly to her new length and reach. Her progress was carefully monitored, making sure that there were no motory disorders in her brain either.

That was not the only issue however, in her experience, it had only been a day since the accident, as if she had only just woken up from a deep sleep. Her memory served to make her believe the accident had happened only recently, and she had not matured a day since the moment of the crash over the course of those three years. Her mind remained that of a fifteen year old girl in an eightteen year old body, giving her difficulties to adjust as well as troubles in behaving her age.

To her own dismay and the surprise of her doctors, Sakura gained trouble sleeping and frequently suffered panic attacks, a loud explosion she hear din her head each ime such an attack happened. The medical staff handed her the name fo he condition: Exploding head syndrme, a name that confused and frightened her. At irregular intervals, she would hear an explosion in her head, causing her to go int shock and get a panic attack. Quickly, she was also diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, getting panic attacks every time it happened or she experienced something similar to the crash.

Her future looks brighter however, on the reccomendation of the doctors, she and her parents agreed to have her enroll in Yamaku for her last year of highschool. Thankfully, she had been ahead of the curve of normal students before her incident, and was suspected to have little to few difficulties fitting into the year corresponding to he actual age, despite the three years that she had missed, her intelligence a thing that finally managed to do her some good so she wouldn't be as much behind.
While her muscles are still weak, she gets stronger every day, looking forwards to the moment where she will finally be comfortable enough to leave her cane behind and get on with her life, hoping her condition's severity to fade over time as well.

Other: Sakure is a huge fan of books, movies and everything fantasy related. She has a ouple of quirks that one might consider a little odd as well. As often as she can, she would buy gift cards and birthday cards from shops, making it a point to own as many different ones as she can. By now, she has managed to amass a rather impressive collection, decorating her room with them in the form of ribbons, wallpapes or garlands.

Please give thoughts and indicate if there are any problems.

Name: Makishimu Arakawa

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Heterosexual.

Age: 17

Appearance:

Personality: Makishimu is a friendly person, though he can be quite dark when it comes to humor and interactions. Speaking of humor, he has a good sense of it, but he is usually guarded about it. In class, he is quite serious and focused on what is being taught, no matter the subject, but he doesn't take this attitude out of class; he has a habit of doing everything at the very last minute and doing random things that he normally wouldn't do instead of work.
After his accident, he has kept a good outlook on things, though he definitely wonders at times why it was him who was the only one who was hurt in the event...

Skills and problems:
-Good grades
Despite Makishimu very rarely putting much effort into homework and studies outside of class, he miraculously has good grades; a thing that surprises even him.
-Social
Makishimu is very good at interacting with others and with a little work, he may be able to look past the disabilities of his fellow classmates.
-Bad depth perception
Due to his disability, Makishimu has no binocular depth perception and his peripheral vision has been effectively cut in half.

Bio: Makishimu Arakawa was born to a couple of differing origins, his mother being a French national and his father Japanese. Other than this rather distinct fact, Makishimu had an extremely ordinary youth, spending most of his time either at school or playing games at home. He never considered himself all that special, save for his good marks at school. He was well liked by his teachers for his general serious attitude and by his friends for his amiable nature.

However, this calm lifestyle came to an abrupt end when an accident that involved him and his family took place near his seventeenth birthday. This accident, which he prefers not to talk much about, resulted in a serious shrapnel injury in the area of his right eye but little to no injury for his parents. He was rushed to the hospital, where it was found that while the skin around his eye could be easily healed over time, his eye was beyond repair. Thus, the decision was made to remove his eye and Makishimu was forced to wear an eyepatch from that moment onward.

After spending a month in the hospital, he was left with vision problems related to losing an eye and the subsequent loss of a good part of peripheral vision and binocular depth perception. By the recommendation of a nurse, his parents decided to send him to a school for students with disabilities, a subject which Makishimu himself decided to remain externally neutral upon, while secretly harboring a deep distaste.

Other: Will be added as I think of things.

I'm not the GM, but if it were me, I'd expect some explanation on how she ended coming to Japan. Other than that, I'd say it looks good, but it's all down to Alarieth.

I've edited some of the info to include the reasons why she's in Japan. I'd like to keep some things in the dark about her stay at Yamaku. Hope that's okay.

Taking into account the fact that one of the characters is KS had a dad who wore Hawaiian shirts, wielded a katana and was absolutely ripped, I think it should be fine. :P

Those characters are looking good.

Although, the men in the black suits wouldn't actually be wandering around in the school, right? Since that wouldn't exactly be allowed by the staff for safety/comfort of the other students, I'd assume.

The fact that it's in Japan is a minor fact in my opinion, Japan has a culture that's very influenced by the West.

@Metronome
You don't need to know anything about Japan. It's actually pretty Westernised for most of it.

@Alarieth
Not actually "In" the school, I thought that Yamaku was the name of the town that the school was in. Students were allowed to leave the campus and travel to local shops and restaurants in their spare time. The men in suits would just drive her around the surrounding areas, not the school itself.

Just think of it as a fictional Japan, where people have rainbow colored hair and don't spend three minutes bowing rapidly towards each other, while speaking super meekly when they're making new acquaintances. Seriously though, IRL, Japanese people avoid using 'strong' negative words, such as 'no'. XD

Might be joining this RP. Prolly gonna make a chuunibyou narcoleptic.

I suspect that's because it's heavy influenced by the VN set in that country.

As for me, I don't really care...but maybe setting it in some remote island/neutral ground in the middle of nowhere/etc would actually be a better idea then setting it in the west or east, as it would allow students of different races/nationalities.

That sounds good, Yamaku is actually the name of the school and the grounds that are part of its property, the town was never really given name.

Because this roleplay is based on a visual novel, that is set in Japan, so I'm just using the same school introduced there.

Anything at all you think is serious enough to require 24 hour supervision. Although, mental disabilities are not allowed at Yamaku.
