Note that after this, positions for the 'Assault', Long-Range, Field-Captain, Utility, and Heavy Roles are closed; Support is the only one remaining as the main Support Mech got moved to 'provisional' Field-Captain instead.
Here is my application, I hope it's alright! Let me know if anything needs to be amended.
Name: Alexei d'Vexille
Appearance:
Age: 23 Years Old
Personality: Although the world is, in harsher terms, a shithole, Alexei decides to look past the bad to find the good. In some ways, he does so to spite his jaded father, and in others he does it to shy away from his fear of becoming like his father. He inherited his good outlook on life from his mother, whose time spent with his younger brothers is a cherished memory that gives Alexei hope for the future. On the surface, Alexei is confident, but at times foolhardy. His prowess on the battlefield is only matched by an underlying anxiety of not being good enough. Over time, Alexei has learned to mask his anxiety with jokes in the face of death, and asserting an aura of control to inspire comrades fighting alongside him.
Backstory: Born 2554 to parents Velac and Arielle d'Vexille, Alexei and his two younger twin brothers, Elias and Andreas, lived in a rebuilt affluent house in Shellharbour, just two hours south of Sydney. Shellharbour, along with larger Wollongong and smaller Kiama was outside the blast radius that took Sydney, the cities united under the Independent banner of the Southshell Alliance. Over the centuries of managing to survive in the aftermath of 2077, the Southshell Alliance scavenged cores from the wasteland and with them, manufactured their own mechas at the Steel Works in Port Kembla. With only limited influence on the coastal hinterlands, they could only scavenge enough cores to share three to each city in the Alliance.
The d'Vexilles were one of the chosen families to serve as guardians of their city of Shellharbour. Over the centuries they protected their city and the others of the alliance with Vectis d'Vexille, the Wolf of the Cove. This earned them the respect of the people who lived amongst them, and the d'Vexilles were regarded as nobility, if such a thing still existed. When the Megacorporations began to stir from the ashes of the Old World, the Southshell Alliance enacted measures to ensure their cities were left alone. With agents and an amount of misdirection and subterfuge, the Alliance persisted outside the dominion of Red Star, watching; waiting. Then when Haven rose up against Red Star, the Southshell cities rose up alongside them, liberating the inner hinterlands of what used to be New South Wales. Velac d'Vexille was a decorated veteran of this battle for freedom, with Vectis changing the course of many battles along the coast and in the hinterlands.
By the time Alexei was 7, he was experiencing a world that was fair and free, without the threat of the megacorporation descending upon them and enslaving them. By the time he was a teenager, Red Star had been pushed out of Australia, and his father was on his homecoming as a war hero. As the eldest of three sons, Alexei had a lot of expectation put on him by his father. His father was stoic, unwavering but haunted by war with Red Star. The path of liberation had been confronting, as he had to venture beyond Shellharbour which had always experienced peace. Anywhere else were not so fortunate, and suffered for it.
Alexei was put through rigorous training and conditioning in his teenage years, so that he could be an NC pilot like his father. Pain, overcoming adversity, fighting against hopelessness-- Alexei felt like he knew nothing else when he was around his father. And he almost hated him for it. His brothers were put through the same, although at lesser intervals. Alexei did his best to dissuade his father from exerting his younger siblings by taking the burden all on his own. Alexei trained harder and better, to prove to his father he was capable of everything that was expected of him.
On the dawn of Alexei's 21st birthday, his father went down to the cove, and didn't come back. Nobody knows what happened to him, as it was too early for anyone to notice, and nobody visit the water's edge for fear of any lingering radiation carried by the ocean currents. He left behind his core for Vectis, to Alexei. From the day onward, he became the guardian d'Vexille. Upon his mother's advice, Alexei enlisted to support the Havenite military as a freelance pilot representing the Southshell Alliance, along with a few others of the Southshell cities.
Tactical Preferences and Skills: From both the hellish 7 years of training with his father, and the 2 years in the actual hell of combat, Alexei has learned to live without fear. This paired together with his happy-go-lucky attitude, Alexei takes on the enemy with a zeal that can even instil fear in his opponents. He favours maximising manoeuvrability and creating his own options that his enemies won't expect. As such, his creativity with his NC's thrusters and hybrid capability is what makes the Wolf of the Cove an NC to be wary of.
Notes: "Alexei d'Vexille, a pleasure to meet you." Color=ed1c24
Code-name: Vectis d'Vexille
Appearance:
Body Type: Bipedal-Quadrupedal Hybrid
Type of NC: Light Assault
Equipment & Armaments: 'Impetus' High-energy Combat Rifle A medium-sized combat rifle, holstered to Vectis' right side and mounted on its right shoulder in quadrupedal form. Its primary fire charges powerful plasma projectiles with hit-scan characteristics intended for combat sniping. Impetus' secondary fire splits the projectiles into short 'bursts', which diffuses the projectile and fires the resulting burst of projectiles with half the momentum of its primary fire, but the instability of the projectiles creates explosive impacts, intent as suppressing fire.
'Aegis' Plasma-resistant Shield A specially coated metal shield, it is resistant to both ballistic and plasma weaponry. Given the material used to make it, the shield is designed to be as light as possible, without compromising on protection and the capability of being used to bash into an enemy with any amount of force. When in quadrupedal form, Vectis stores the shield on the underside to protect itself from below.
Head-Mounted Point Defence Guns Small ballistic point defence guns mounted on both Vectis' bipedal and quadrupedal forms, these countermeasures are not advanced but are enough given the pilot's own capability of avoiding as many missiles as possible. The PD guns can handle any other stray missiles that are incoming.
Wing-Mounted Plasma Blades When in bipedal form, Vectis can draw one or both of its blades mounted on its wings. The blades generate a plasma edge focused to heat up and cut through armour as quickly as possible. In quadrupedal form, the Vectis can use its 'wings' as plasma blades, dashing through enemies with 'slice and dice' manoeuvres.
Wing-Mounted Assault Guns Unlike its blades, Vectis can't hand wield the guns mounted in both wings. However, it can also use them in both bipedal and quadrupedal forms as auxillary firepower.
Enhanced Thrusters To compensate for the versatility of Vectis' arsenal, its thrusters have been enhanced to provide as much mobility as it would have unweighed by gear.
Personality: Loyal, religious and most of all, aggressive, Encarnación is the daughter of Spanish soldiers who fled to Australia during the War. Taught by her father, a former Carlist, and her mother, General de brigada Laura Sofía Mariano, this devoted but furious woman of Hispanic heritage is determined to guard the gates of her city and to prove to the rest of those living in the city that the Spanish are righteous and noble even until today.
Backstory: Born into leadership of Paragon, this young woman showed promise in her skill with NCs and with training others how to use them. She also showed great spirit in her fury when in combat. But this wasn't without reason.
Even as she led Paragon as one of it's chief executive officers, she was recognized secretly by her parents and others in their inner circle as a princess. Truth be told, the girl was one of the only remaining individuals who had the blood of the Spanish royal family. Now there no longer were kings or queens or nobles. They were simply presidents, secretaries and corporate bosses.
This changed when she witnessed how a corporation could mistreat it's own employees. No, it's own people.
First, she saw them lay off her mentor, her maid, her caretaker after she suffered an accident that left her lying in bed helpless. Then she saw them crack down on a miner's strike. It didn't help she was the one who personally did it. It also didn't help her or anyone else at all when she was ordered to engage bystanders and families who saw their loved ones, their fellow Spaniards suffer. Then finally, she was told that she wouldn't even rise to the seat of power she wanted to change things. That she wouldn't say success despite her efforts.
It drove her to a tranquil fury as she defied the last order the Paragon gave her on July 17, the same day the Civil War of 1936 began: She was ordered to put down a food riot during the worst time of the year.
With a dignified glare and a string of curses, she disobeyed this order and turned her weapons on the Paragon security forces. Because of her actions, she used her NC, the Torpe, to lead the Spanish-Paragon War. A war that inspired the factions that hid in the shadows of the people, the CNT FAI and the Carlists, to unite with each other and stand against the corporation that dared to dominate them with tyranny. One by one, city after city rose not to protest or to riot but to fight and to dare to restore Spain to what it once was half a century ago.
Aiding them was a Paragon general who felt sorry for his fellow Spaniards and most of all, his fellow Catholics. His name was Gustavo Franco, a descendant of the infamous General of the Nationalist forces of the Civil War.
By his force of will and his tactical mind, he helped the rebelling princess and her armies fight the Paragon. They would have won too if not for his death when his plane crashed into the mountains of the north.
So even when she and her subordinates learned how to fight, they were pushed back brutally by the corporate forces until eventually they made their last defense at the city of Valencia before finally fleeing to the sea. Despite heavy losses, she did her best to protect her people and what was left of her soldiers until they finally reached Australia.
There, she cooperated with the government of the Independent settlement that welcomed them, helping her people settle and get along with the rest until the invasion. When it came, she didn’t shrink from her duties. Once again, she picked up her tools and went back to fight against the invading corporate bastards. And if they succeed, she would dare lead her people back to Spain and reclaim their birthright.
Tactical Preferences and Skills: Full Head On Combat
Hey @Letter Bee I was thinking about adding a current gear list under my collapsed CS in the characters thread to keep up with my personal gear and ammunitions. This seems as though it'd be a good way to keep up with all of that at a quick glance. Also, how are we going to go about acquiring more ammo, is there a payment system or quartermaster, a rationed amount, etc.?
Redacted; irrelevant information - for now. However, it is known that “Richer” is a finely trained mercenary contracted under the Red-Star Corporation - carrying out dangerous tasks that require the highest-trained NC Pilots.
Country of Origin: Thailand
Tactical Preferences and Skills:
Richer's main goal in a fight is often to isolate and cripple select targets from the opponent's ranks that could cause a problem for the rest of his squad or assault team. He does this using the incredibly tough Webbings produced by his NC, and the cover and disrupting features she also possesses. His NC is not heavily armored, but is quite fast, and evasive, which he uses to his advantage. Despite what you may inquire from the frailty of his NC, Richer has been known to take down up to two other NC's by himself. This, of course, was not in open terrain - which is his weakest area to fight; as opposed to Urban areas, where Weaver excels. However, Richer tries to work against his weaknesses. He even oftentimes call his personal ship to fly over the battle and use a long-range cannon to launch spires, which anchor heavily into the ground - this allows Weaver to tie Webs between them and make "walls" of a sort; this shows how resourceful and versatile he is in combat.
Notes:
None for now.
(Sans Extra Appendages)
Body-type:
Light, Bipedal, Multipedal, Unguligrade.
NC Role:
Infiltrator, Interceptor.
Equipment & Armaments:
● Arachnae Appendages Weaver is equipped with an array of six appendages reminiscent of spider legs. These limbs, when not in use, fold around the main body of the NC, providing a small boost to armor. But their true purposes are many:
- Increased Maneuverability; Allows her to push off of terrain and other NC's for additionally movement. - Defensive Capabilities; The material in these limbs is resistant to both heat and plasma, as well as physical force. This is not to say the material is impervious to them, but it is very tough. This makes these legs the most sturdy part of the NC. They call this material the "carapace". - Offensive Capabilities; These sharp appendages consist of a lockable, three-point joint system, stemming from a flexible socket(also protected by the carapace) on the back of the NC. However, seeing as they are protected by the carapace, the joints are not necessarily weak-points as one would expect. But in any case, this joint system allows the limbs to strike at varying angles at the same time. One may strike from a sickle-like angle from the side, while another does a straight jab - this can make it difficult for NC's without shields to block. They do considerable piercing damage - puncturing important vessels/systems and, if possible, the pilot of the opposing NC. - Chemical Secretion Ducts; Small ducts past the last joint of these limbs is capable of coating said portion in a lightly acidic chemical specifically designed to cut through Weaver's own webbings - which will be detailed later. - Utility; The tips of the Arachnae limbs are actually able to split into three finger-like stems. This allows Weaver to both interact with fine wiring and small objects, as well as organize the placement of her webs - detailed next.
● Spinnerets Weaver has an array of minute “Spinnerets” located in various points throughout the innards of her structure - the limbs, core, back, etc. These Spinnerets use a slowly-reproducing chemical stored in the core of the machine to produce “Webbings”many times the mass of the chemical storage. These Webbings have incredibly high tensile strength - so much so that even very large Ncs will have a hard time breaking them without a heat or plasma weapon. These Webbings are not naturally sticky, however more chemical can be consumed to make them so. Additionally, the Webs are lined with small devices that have a few passive effects, as well as an active one. The main passive effect is that these devices are able to detect nearby electrical signals, along with their own movement, and transfer this information to Weaver's HUD. The active effect - they can magnetize towards the specific material that forms the Carapace.
Notably, Richer's visor can view Weaver's webs as transparent when he activates it.
● 37mm Canister Cannon Weaver has a slim, long-range canister launcher attached to her left arm. The common usage of this weapon is to fire canisters to provide obstacles for their opponents, or cover for her allies or self. - Smoke Jelly; A canister that shatters upon impact with the destination, sticking a thick black blob of gel to the collision point. This gel, shortly after, begins to dissolve and emit a thick cloud of black smoke, until the blob dissipates entirely. - Napalm Shell; As one may expect, this is a canister that splits away before impact, and releases a glob of highly flammable jelly, which self-ignites shortly after impact. These flames burn for several minutes, and while they probably won't burn through any NC's, they will heat the machines and make the inside of the craft uncomfortable. Extended contact will obviously cause some melting, however.
● CQC “Devourer” Array Weaver has a light-weight energy array in each palm. After activation, and several seconds of charging, these arrays begin to slowly disintegrate any material in front of them, absorbing them into storage containers inside the long, slender arms. Afterwards, Weaver can covert these materials into more webbings, or re-purpose them for repairs. However, these arrays have a very short range - about 3 feet; so essentially physical contact distance.
● CQC “Disruptor” Array Weaver has a light-weight energy array in each palm. After activation and a quicker charging period, these arrays start to emit a medium-strength signal-disrupting frequnecy, disabling all electronics within the 3-foot-long, coned reach for as long as the array is focused on the area, and for a few seconds after.
Disclaimer: May be subject to minute changes due to my lack of memory - with GM supervision, obviously.
And my plan has worked! Caz is now believed to be the resident drunk and I love it.
Dont be so quick to assume.. My girl is batshit nutso, but only because she is a psychological Bobby Fischer.. But she did notice the flamboyant entrance.
Appearance: N/A, Sybil TABRIS is just a brain in a jar meant to keep brains alive wired to the NC from the inside.
Age: 24
Personality: All data pre-merge is rendered false, only showing completed merge data. Sybil TABRIS is a ruthless murderer in battle but captures when needed to. She doesn't talk often in battle but when outside of it she can be found talking to other pilots. She dislikes Havenites for "Disgracing the name of the NC and Red-Star in all their glory." She doesn't seem to consider other corps to consist of humans, only machines to cut down. Sybil TABRIS is quite rude to prisoners as well, trash talking them usually.
Backstory: Sybil TABRIS' life is an unknown, other than a high synch score resulted in being given an NC. Sybil TABRIS was also a Japanese Slave Pilot.
Event: NC/Human Instrumentality. Sybil TABRIS was picked as an attempt for the "Ultimate NC", in which it was classed as semi-successful. Sybil TABRIS was put through a series of torturing tests to test her rate of success. They deemed the chance given as good enough and begun an operation with talented medical staff. Sybil TABRIS had her mind transplanted directly into a containment unit meant to keep it alive and well. The mind was then integrated into an NC directly, after a bit of figuring out what the actual fuck happened, she told the scientists that "It doesn't feel like I am the pilot to the NC anymore, it feels like I am the NC. It feels, oddly human... My burning engine feels like a heart, my hands feel so strong..." It also was noted her sync score rocketed up to 100% sync and hasn't dropped.
Tactical Preferences and Skills: Sybil TABRIS prefers close/melee/moderate range combat, alongside swift and beautiful moves.
Notes: This pilot is merged with an NC and has a 100% synch rate. Sybil TABRIS has a favorite song
