AWAKEN

You have found yourself on the floor, in a largely dirt cave. It's an small one, small enough that the exit to this cave is just a few meters away. But as you collect yourself you've quickly become aware of something unusual; your very form is not your own. Your hands, feet, your entire body, gone. Instead you have become... Something else. A creature or animal perhaps. But for a few of you you recognize these forms, albeit perhaps smaller and less powerful than you'd remember. But you are now a pokemon.

Around you are other pokemon who appear to be in the same situation as you; confused and uncertain. You remember much of what you could about your previous life, but nothing in particular would stand out as the cause for you coming to this world. Despite that you do seem to have some faint recollection of a voice, or perhaps a vision, but before you could really remember it fades away like the blurriness in your eyes. Aside from the other pokemon and the fairly nondescript cave, you can see some light coming form outside, though it's a dull light possibly covered by clouds or mist. You can also hear rain from where you stand; it doesn't sound like a heavy rain but it's certainly a steady one. The wind on the other hand sounds strong, roaring even. You can hear leaves and dirt being flung about striking the walls, and for the few capable of flight, you get the shaking feeling that simply taking to the skies will not be as easy as you may think, especially considering your lack of experience flying under your own power.

As far as health goes, no one is injured, no one feels particularly hungry, sick, or thirsty. Regardless if you know what a pokemon is or looks like, you all can easily tell that whatever creature you are you're in the infantile stage. Very young, very small, very vulnerable. This cave may provide shelter for now but it has nothing in the ways of food, and the only water came from what little rain runoff was leaking into the cave entrance. Perhaps you may choose to stay here in the cave for now, but one thing is for certain, you must leave this place eventually.

In the distance, a thunder crack. Followed by three more in rapid succession, then no more.

Trevor was somehow the first to wake up in this new world, and he didn't even realize what happened until he looked down and saw a tail, of all things. That bit of shock caused him to jump back and try to figure out what he was... from what he could figure out, he was a charmander... a creature from a video game, and looking around in the cave, Trevor was able to recognize several more pokemon, including two snake pokemon, dunsparce, and seviper. There were more, of course, such as the swablu who was probably going to wake up, soon, and the pawniard, as well as the misdreavus, both of whom, considering the fact that Trevor didn't know how to breathe fire, yet, he desperately hoped were on his side, or at least not hostile. He then heard the thunder, and noticed the chilly, overall bad weather. Well, since we have two, maybe three cold-blooded creatures here, someone's going to have to get a fire going, and... it's going to have to be me, I guess. Trevor thought as he headed out in the rain just to find some sticks to build a small campfire. He then took the sticks back inside, and tried to make sure they were dry before trying... and failing at using Ember a few times. It can't be that hard, right? It's a beginner's move in pokemon! Oh, right, we were probably the equivalent of a level five... and that was a level NINE move, unfortunately. Trevor thought as he looked towards his tail, thinking that would have a fire on it... and the revelation that he didn't have ANY fire on his tail made him jump back. Sure, he read a few pokedex entries that implied that the tail fire was only a measuring tool for strength or emotion... there were still a few that outright said a charmander would DIE if it didn't have a fire on the end of its tail. He... accidentally screamed a bit, which probably woke up the others, and Trevor grabbed a couple loose rocks, and tried to get them to spark, and secondarily he tried to look like he was trying to help using said rocks.

Once the others started waking up, Trevor finally introduced himself "Hey... I assume we're all here because we all used to be human, or at least, didn't used to be pokemon... um... my name's Trevor, and I'm going to see if there's a guild, like in that spin-off series in the games," of course, Trevor wasn't exactly the best at introductions, or even speaking to strangers in general, and afterwards, he asked "So.. anyone else here want to introduce yourselves? D-don't be shy, um... it's not like anyone's going anywhere for a while because, well, weather," as he was saying that, he kept trying to produce sparks for a campfire, since Trevor was certain that its warmth would be appreciated, though, perhaps not by the pawniard, whose steel typing had them most likely preferring the cold over the heat.

Sleeping on the ground, was a dark ball of...fluff? Hair? Ectoplasm? Probably that last one. Whatever ghosts were made of. It was laying on its side, seemingly trying to hug the ground as it snored and rolled over where it was sleeping. Slowly, however, the commotion of the other pokemon waking up bought it out of its sleep. The Ghost type yawned, its dark, ethereal strands of hair shuddering and flowing as it quietly took in its surroundings.

"...woah." Was all it said as it observed the other creatures present. What...were they? More importantly...what was she?! He quickly did a body check, or well, body check of what he could. She seemed to mostly be a floating ball ectoplasm from what she could tell. No legs, just an ability to float and manifest tiny hands if she focused a bit. Now most people might be a little put off by suddenly waking up, in the middle of nowhere, in an entirely new body.

Vi however, was not most people. This was absolutely entertaining.

"Wohoho~" A decidedly creepy cackle came from the Misdreavus as she did a little twirl. She hadn't meant to do that, but for some reason it felt right. "A shared dream experience? Perhaps a form of ESP or some such? Astral Projection? Or perhaps a ghost stole away my soul and shoved it here?" She was thinking aloud at this point, a crack of thunder and the sound of rain finally reaching the Misdreavus' ears. A lovely sound. She did so like the rain.

"I don't know about you," Vi finally bothered replying to Trevor. "But I love rainy days. One of the best times to find a ghost, wohoho~" She giggled. Well this body was just downright weird. Walking was odd, but she didn't particularly think about it. Best not to overthink things too much. It seemed as long as she just thought about moving, it'd work well enough. "Ah, I suppose I should introduce myself...you may call me Vi. Not my human name, but new me new name, so why not!"

Another cackle.

"Quite the predicament we've found ourselves in...hmhm," Truthfully, she didn't care about whatever a pokemon was. Not at the moment, at least, but perhaps such information may elucidate some mysteries. "You, screamy lizard thing. Trevor was it? Tell me: What's a pokemon? I am only vaguely aware of such things from high school, and what do you mean by Guild?"

Nathan had woken up but he was sure he was dreaming or something. After all there simply was no way he could have turned into a Seedot, just as it was impossible for there to be other Pokemon around. The flameless Charmander was even impossible in the setting as far he knew.

"Hey... I assume we're all here because we all used to be human, or at least, didn't used to be pokemon... um... my name's Trevor, and I'm going to see if there's a guild, like in that spin-off series in the games," "Spin of series? Oh right Pokemon Mystery Dungeon." Nathan had never played those games before but from what he heard their plot seemed to match this strange dream.

Eventually he got sick and tired from pretending to still be asleep and decided he might aw well play along until he woke up. He wanted to see how powerful and not remembering Seedot's moves decided to use tackle on the wall. All that happened was that he run full speed and face first into solid rock. Unsurprisingly hurting himself. "What the hell, I thought you weren't supposed to feel pain in dreams."

Ravi

His optimistic mind was searching for positives through this existential nightmare. Like trying to find the stray piece of hay in the needle stack. Flattened on the courtyard from an oncoming tennis ball straight between the eyes, it was embarrassing but it would be worth a good laugh after he recovered. Slowly becoming more consciously aware of hearing many concerned voices before blacking out, though one didn’t sound as familiar. But that fleeting thought was interrupted by a loud bang, which thankfully didn’t compound the pain onto the doubtless concussion he had. But that’s where the problems started. He didn’t feel any pain, as a matter of fact, he couldn’t feel anything. Numb from his fingers all the way down to his toes...so this is what it was like to be in a comatose state? Neat.

Finally opening his eyes and gawking at his grungy surroundings, a small dark space only lit by the frequent flashes of lightning coming from the cave’s mouth. “Not the worst dream I’ve ever had...I quite like the rain and I’m sure the plants could use drink—why am I so cold?” Noticing the Charmander standing there and addressing the various other pokemon in a very meta way. Ravi blinked dubiously, even as optimism goes, the idea of being transported into another world like an Isekai was a little Farfetch'd. Wait, did that mean he…

A glance down confirmed his suspicion, he had become a Seviper? He was about eighty percent certain with that assertion, given his knowledge of the show was secondary from his more obsessed online friends endlessly discussing it. His senses struck down the idea that this was merely a dream or an elaborate hoax...that and the hankering for a snack. This was somehow real. A tennis player with a talent for using both hands turned into a snake. Seems somebody had a crude sense of humor...but like every situation, he’d make the best out of it.

He attempted to smile at Trevor as he inquired for introductions. Not knowing how wicked his grin came across, nor how sinister his hissing voice was. With a ‘you look tasty’ look and tone, he greeted the rest of them while wiggling his forked tongue. “I’m Ravi Fukimori. Pleasssure to meet you.”

Quietly observing the others waking up and reacting, at least it appeared someone else was enthusiastic about this bizarre scenario. Turning to the Seedot, unaware of what it was actually called and replied. “I don’t think thisss is a dream.”

Jeri

A persistent snore near the back of the cave ended with an abrupt snort, followed by incoherent muttering. Jeri's alarm clock wasn't going off... she must've woken up early. What an annoying start to her big day.

Jeri tried to roll over and go back to sleep, but her breath caught as she discovered that she couldn't move her arms and legs. She couldn't even feel them. It felt like her body was tied up in a lumpy... burlap sack....

The Dunsparce's heart began to race as she realized the truth. Obviously, she had been drugged and kidnapped.

Jeri cautiously peeked open one eye, trying to continue feigning sleep so she might keep the element of surprise against her kidnappers. She appeared to be inside a dark, damp, creepy cave. That wasn't too unusual, given the circumstances. What was unusual was the appearances of her captors, all scheming in a circle. Some guy wearing a derpy dinosaur costume... some football-looking dude... A GIANT FRICKING SNAKE (must be part of some satanic ritual) and... a ghost?

Good lord, what kind of drug WAS this?

In situations like these, Jeri had learned that it was best to try to stay calm.

.........................................

"LET ME THE HELL OUTTA HERE, YOU SCUMBAGS!" the Dunsparce bellowed, an unexpectedly husky voice coming from such a derpy-looking Pokémon. "When my DAD gets his hands on you, he's gonna chop you up into tiny bits and mail them to your mothers! I'M NOT GONNA SIT HERE AND BE YOUR VIRGIN SACRIFICE!!"

Celina

When Celina woke up, she looked at around, tired, hearing the sound of the rain outside and… talking? She look around a bit, feeling her body being very different right now. “Wh… wait… what?” she said unsure about what was happening as she then saw the seviper in the room… and quickly backed away. “G… Giant serviper! How.. why… h…” she then said, freaking out a bit as she look around, seeing the group that was with her. She looked at her body, seeing that she was a swablu. She then heard what the others were saying, them being human before. She frown. “Must be a dream… Celina.. you have been playing way too much Pokémon.. now you are one… freaken wake up…” She said before trying to bash herself onto the wall a bit, with her ending just being hurt by this. She frown as she felt the pain and look at the group.
“Owwwwwww…. Not a dream… not a dream.. ow..” she said as she looked at the group as she tried to move forwards, worried and hearing the charmander saying about introducing themselves.

“I… I guess… just.. Waking up here like this… Names… Names Celina Letendre…” she said to the group, a bit unsure as she looked at herself and shiver just a bit as she then uses her cloud wings to hold herself well. “I.. can’t believe I ended up becoming a swablu. Geez, did my old games get cursed or something and made me into a pokemon or what…” she adds as she listened to the rain outside. And they had to arrive when it was raining and a storm was happening outside. At least.. well.. she did have her wings to try to keep warm.. She think a bit and tried to fly a bit, just floating a bit before dropping down, not used to her body. She tried again before just staying up in position in the air a bit before she.. well.. crash landed onto the ground. “Ow…. ” She said before shaking her head…. She wasn’t injured, but geez that didn’t feel good. She looked at herself a bit more, seeing a bit of yellow on her head feathers that dropped forwards as well as some yellow on her back feathers.. at least what she could see. Well, she was not a normal swablu at least she guessed

Lance

By the time Lance came to his senses, the pain in his head had faded. The ground beneath him was cold, hard stone, certainly not the level of comfort he was used to. As he opened his eyes, he was expecting to find himself lying in the same place that he was knocked out. Instead, though, he was greeted with something far more unusual. He was in a cave somewhere, surrounded by a bunch of strange creatures. Not only that, but his body had been completely transformed. His hands had been replaced by what appeared to be small daggers, and there were a few more blades protruding from his chest and stomach.

He listened in on the conversation the others were having. Apparently, they were all formerly human, so Lance wasn't alone in that regard. Starting with Trever the orange lizard, the others began to introduce themselves. The floating head was named Vi, the more sinister-looking of the two snakes was Ravi, and the bird was named Celina. "I am Lance." He chimed in. After bringing himself to his feet, he wandered over to the mouth of the cave. His eyes scanned the cave's surroundings, searching for any sign of civilization, but there appeared to be nothing but wilderness.

At this point, one of the cave's other inhabitants began throwing some kind of tantrum. It seemed that the other snake thought they'd been kidnapped. "Someone calm down the stupid-looking one. I'd rather walk out into the rain alone than endure the sound of their voice for a second longer."

Another thunder crack, this one loud enough that it almost felt like it shook the entire cave. But aside from some dust falling from the ceiling nothing came of it. Trevor’s attempt to create a fire would unfortunately find no resolution; try as he might even when he felt the slight tingling sensation of warmth in his throat all he could acccomplish was blowing a warm breath onto the somewhat dry but still wet tinders. If nothing else his attempts at lighting the sticks on fire did make then a bit dryer.

A new sensation would soon greet Vi. It was a strange, but not entirely unpleasant feeling. It felt almost as if she was being fed somehow, her ghostly stomach feeling some nourishment and fulfillment as more and more of the Pokémon around her seemed to be panicking. Strange as it may be, she could practically taste their fear and in the dunsparce’s case, fury. It was like a spiced cheese, sweet but with a bite to it.

Nathan wasn’t too harmed by his reckless tackle, only somewhat shaken. Similarly if he had worn a bike helmet and hit a wall while wearing it; slightly dizzy but no worse for ware. He did, however, feel a slight tension in his lower body near his legs. It wasn’t something he feels that he could become right now, but perhaps with another jump into the wall, he might be able to awaken something odd within himself. He just needed to bide his time.

Compared to the other baby Pokémon, Ravi seemed larger than them, or at least longer. While still fairly small in terms of overall size it seemed like Ravi was the largest of the young Pokémon by size and weight. And while his missing arms might be a detriment for him, as Ravi May walk and explore his surroundings he would notice one feature not typically seen in snakes; a small blade at the end of his tail. At the moment it felt more like a purple fin and was even flexiblec but if he concentrated he could make the tiny fin stiffen into a sort of blade. Not a sharp one, but a blade nonetheless. Could probably whittle some wood.

Though Jeri felt that she had been restrained in some sort of sack, if she bothered to make any movements towards anyone, she’s find that she has been in no way restrained or bound. Moving forward, as awkward as it was to do so via slithering, felt almost as natural as walking. If she mustered up the strength she could even jump a fairly considerable height for her form; almost theee times her (admittedly small) height, which is more than could typically be accomplished unassisted in a human body, still doesn’t explain the strange situation she found herself in, nor would it have any particular effects about her anger and attitude.

Celina’s body felt light, and in a way unbalanced. Her wings felt heavier than her own torso which would explain how she crashed so easily, as this body was certainly in no way similar at all to a human one. Still if Celina just put more effort into it, she could achieve some semblance of hovering, however she’ll need to find the right tempo to do so. Like riding a bike it was about striking that right balance between actively keeping yourself up and just relaxing your body. And like learning how to ride a bike the more you tried to think about it, the less successful you were at it.

As Lance would look outside, Wilderness wasn’t the only thing he’d see. He would also see dark rain clouds pouring so much rain that he couldn’t even see more than maybe a hundred feet before it vanished into blackness. Another thing he’s notice is that they appear to be on some sort of cliff; the path down wasn’t too treacherous and would lead into the forest, and he’d see tony foot prints that lead out of the cave then back. With a quick scan he’d easily be able to tell that the orange lizard was the one who had left and came back into the cave as his feet still had mud on them. But as Lance was observing through the raid and forest he would see a gain glimmer of yellow light in the distance. It seem steady and unwavering despite the weather, though as the rain picked up and the clouds darken the same yellow light vanished.

Lighting streaked through the skies and illuminated the cave in one brilliant flash of light, but before anything could have been seen the light vanished again. Shortly followed by another booming thunder bolt which struck dangerously close to the cave and almost hit Lance. It did end up striking a loose hanging root in the cave, causing it to singe, burn, and drop a few embers.

As everyone introduced themselves, Trevor kept trying to make a spark from hitting the two stones just right... and, of course, nothing came of it. He then got a better look at who, or what, he was dealing with, here. Some of them were alright, with the swablu being a little clumsy, but at least nice enough, the pawniard seemed to be very... direct, but didn't seem hostile, and the seedot... was doing more damage to himself than anything. However, there was also the misdreavus, who seemed to revel in the fact that they weren't human anymore, even if it implies that they died, somehow, the really big (at least compared to Trevor), sinister-sounding seviper, and the Dunsparce who was shouting about supposedly being kidnapped, and... uh... her dad being strong enough to rip us apart if we don't 'untie' her, despite the fact that we never tied her up. Trevor froze up for a brief moment, and then after a bit, finally decided to say "Well, it's nice to meet you all, and I hope we can keep working together," to be honest, though, he was still VERY wary of the seviper, and it SHOWED with how he spoke, earlier. Lance then suggested that someone calm down the dunsparce, and Trevor nodded before heading over there, however, before he could really say anything, a loud BOOM filled the cave, and Trevor noticed something he could take advantage of, some falling embers in the cave! He ran up to the unlit campfire, took one of the sticks, and then ran to get at least ONE ember on the thing to light it. Once the 'torch' was lit, he placed it back onto the new campfire.

Trevor wanted to sit down, but there was something else he had to deal with first. He walked up to the dunsparce, and, as calmly as he could muster, explained to her "You are not a sacrifice, you are not tied up, this isn't a kidnapping, and... this isn't even Earth. I dunno where we are now, or how we got here, but we're going to have to work together if we're going to escape, okay?" after that, he headed over to the fire, and sat down close enough that he could put the tip of his tail in the fire... maybe that'll light it, and he'll be a bit more normal... maybe.

Vi blinked.

She had just been completely ignored, aside from a 'nice to meet you all'.

Her smile faded, blue eyes narrowing at the lizard thing. Oho. Well if that's how this lizard thing wanted to play this budding friendship they had, then by all means, she could easily oblige...but for now she'd be nice. Probably. More or less. She didn't mind a little sass, but what she didn't like was being utterly and completely left waiting. Turning her attention from it back to the others, she quickly made some mental notes. Some sort of...red thing with lots of blades on it. A snake, a...worm thing? Some sorta blue puff ball, and a talking acorn.

Boy this was some drug trip.

As Trevor walked over to comfort the Dunsparce, Vi watched with mild interest. Curious. She felt...warm? Fulfilled? A hint of cheese on her tongue. A spicy fragrance. Anger? She didn't know what was going on, but had she developed some sort of supernatural abilities? An Empath of sorts, that could feel others emotions? A thought for later.

"Hey, you. Lance right?" Floating over to Lance, she latched her tiny hands onto the top of his head, resting her head on the top of his as she almost weightlessly hung on. "Since the funny lizard thing ignored me, mind filling me in? Seems I'm one of the only ones outta the loop here. I didn't play pokemon after I got outta high school...gen...four I think? Been awhile. It was the only one, too." Pausing a moment, she followed up with. "So what ya see out there?"

After shaking his head to try recover from the dizziness Nathan became aware of the tension in his body, he was curious about it but had no desire to hurl himself at any kind of rock again. Instead he decided to look around a little and see if he recognized any other Pokemon, still not fully accepting this was real.

There was an obvious Ghost-type he knew he had seen before but he couldn't remember its name, and a Swablu who looked like it had been trying to clean something covered in yellow paint. There was also a Seviper casually talking to the flameless Charmander, though that confused him. He didn't recognize the Pokemon covered in blades nor the screaming worm it refered to as the stupid one but they were all clearly non evolved. "Why is there a single evolved Pokemon among what I presume are all first stage Evolutions?."

Despite his best efforts to distract himself his curiosity about the weird the tension in his body was too much and going against his better judgment he slammed himself into the wall again. He wasn't too worried about what the others might think off him, due to the fact he was still in denial about this whole thing not being a dream.

Was it something he said? Receiving some weary glances after his introduction and someone even started freaking out. Utterly unaware of his intimidating inflection, from his perspective it sounded like his normal voice. Was it simply because he was the largest among them? He supposed their viewpoint was understandable. He would just need to show them all that he wasn’t hostile. Doing his best to remember their names, since it was likely in their own interests to work together. Thankfully Trevor came to calm the Dunsparce down, as Ravi was still busy trying to figure out exactly how to move around in his new body. Fumbling about to slither across the floor, making as much progress as somebody intoxicated hopping on one foot. Noticing everyone else was stuck questioning where we were and what we were doing there. Deciding to speak up and provide a suggestion.

“We should have someone gather food. As finding burnable wood may be harder in the rain. If we start getting too cold while we're riding out the storm, we can always dig ourselves dirt beds or ssshare our body heat.” His last sentence might as well have been translated, willingly get yourselves wrapped up with me so it will be easier to swallow you whole. But a stroke of luck seemed to have given them the fire they needed. Grateful for staying on the bright side and having some warmth. He would've already volunteered if he had any reasonable way to stockpile it himself, but maybe he could make lemonade out this slightly sour situation. “Since I’m the biggest, I can tag along to keep whoever goes sssafe.” But unfortunately, his tone didn’t make the thought of traveling alone with a big snake too comforting...

Celina just looked at the group, the seedot, the charmander, the Misdreavus, the Seviper, the pawniard and the dunsparce. All of them were human before and changed… just like her… She just listened to what they were saying as she relax a bit, looking at the charmander that tried to get fire going and possibly get some from a lightning strike. She then look at the Seviper and heard what he was saying. Well… he was bigger than the group.. and he was intimidating… but considering he was human before, would her really hurt the group? Probably not but still… She looked at him. “No offense… but the way you said that… it feels more like there is double meaning on what you are saying.” She just plainly say to him. She just ruffle her wings a bit as she look at the group.

“I hope this rain actually lets up… “. she says calmly as she look at the misdreavus and think a bit. ”At least your happy of what you are now… once this thunder and rain lets up… we probably would need to scout around in the sky… I.. am unsure I should leave the cave on my case… considering my… typing… if that lightning hits me, I would probably have a LOT of issues.” She then states… Now this was a time she wished she was a dragon type instead of a normal type right now…. Although one thing came to mind… could she even get back… if she did.. would she become human again or not? She just thinks a bit.

She then trying to practice to fly in the cave, hovering a bit and dropping down, having a bit of difficulty. “Just.. need to get the hang of this body… geez.” She says, hoping the charmander would be able to get a fire going for us. And considering how she felt, we probably ended up lower level.. the question was.. how low? And would the group be able to survive outside? That she was not sure.

While Lance could barely make out anything through the downpour, one thing did catch his eye. There was a light out in the forest below them. It only remained visible for a moment, vanishing moments after the Pawniard spotted it, but at the very least, it meant that they weren't completely alone. That area would be worth investigating later, after the rain died off. If they could find the source, then that would be their first step towards finding civilization, or maybe even a way to get back home.

His train of thought was suddenly cut short when a lightning bolt crashed down dangerously close to him. In that moment, he suddenly became aware that he had metal all over his body, and that basically made him a walking lightning rod. Unwilling to risk another near-death experience, he backed away from the cave's entrance. If someone else wanted to have a look outside, they were more than welcome to do so, but he was staying in the shelter of the cave.

At this point, one of the cave's other inhabitants, Vi if he remembered correctly, floated over to him, resting on his head. She was surprisingly lightweight, so much so that he may not have noticed she was there if she hadn't made her presence known. She asked for info, but he didn't have much to tell her. "I'm afraid that I'm just as lost as you are. The others seem to be saying we've transformed into Pokemon, but I've never played any of those games in my life."

As she asked him about what he saw outside, his thoughts returned to the light. "Out in the distance, I could see something glowing. I only saw it for a moment before it faded away, but there's a chance that it could be from a camp or settlement." They could check it out once they got out of the cave, but for now, they were stuck here.

Since there wasn't much else they could do, Lance figured that they should at least try to get more information out of the others. He made his way to the now successfully lit fire. "I believe you were asked a question earlier. Don't you think you should answer it?" He sat down across from the lizard. "You seem to know a lot more than a lot of us do. The least you could do is explain it to us." His eyes moved down to the fire, and it was at this point that he noticed the lizard's tail. "I very sincerely hope you aren't intentionally trying to light yourself on fire."

Jeri stopped shouting long enough to hear what the dinosaur guy had to say. Fortunately, some of her rage was diverted into confusion. They were... not on Earth? Was she supposed to believe these people were, like, aliens?

The Dunsparce sneered at Trevor as he turned around and headed back to the fire. When all the strange creatures seemed distracted by their own conversations, she saw her chance to try to wriggle out of her bonds. That's when Jeri realized... her body wasn't inside a misshapen sack, after all... her body WAS the misshapen sack!

"Wha--NOO!"

Jeri let out an astonished yell and jerked up, causing her to flop over onto her back. She just laid there limp for a few seconds, hyperventilating, her mind shorting out as it attempted to process something that no person should ever have to process. Then she gritted her teeth and put all of her furious energy into the monumental task of flipping herself right-side-up.

By the time she managed that, a few of her kidnappers/fellow captives (she couldn't be sure which) were talking by a growing fire. As much as she distrusted these people... things?... the damp cave felt pretty cold. Jeri grumbled curses as she awkwardly attempted to slither toward the fire. It was a pathetic fail for a minute, but the Dunsparce eventually discovered that she moved better if she scrunched up and down, something closer to the movement of an inchworm than a snake.

Jeri crawled just close enough to stop shivering and stopped, eyeing the other creatures suspiciously. She saw a bird try to fly, talking about 'getting used to this body.' So... at least the bird had befallen the same strange fate as Jeri? Then Edward Scissorhands spoke with the lizard as if he knew more about their situation.

"Yeah, if you know anything, you gotta tell us!" Jeri addressed Trevor. Her voice still had an acrid tone, but it wasn't too loud... for the moment. "Who are these aliens? How we gonna beat them and demand our bodies back?"

It took a little while for the twig to catch flame, and they were still wet enough that when they did start to burn they released some smoke, but surprisingly enough it wouldn’t bother Trevor. Even as bits of ash and smoke flew towards his face, it didn’t irritate his eyes or nose like it would if he was human. Naturally of course; if a fire type couldn’t handle a bit of smoke, they wouldn’t be very good fire types.

However Trevor’s attempts to light his tail on fire would be met with failure. Perhaps the fire wasn’t hot enough, or perhaps there was something about his juvenile body that simply can’t produce the charmander’s signature tail flame. Even if he stuck his tail right into the heart of the fire, Trevor would only feel a slight burning sensation, but his tail wouldn’t catch flame.

As things began to calm down, that fulfilling sensation soon faded from Vi. Sure enough this odd taste had to do something with emotions, but how and in what ways she’ll have to learn on her own time. If she would peer out of the cave she wouldn’t see much beyond the rain and darkness, with no signs of that light that Lance had mentioned. The cave did seem a little bit brighter now though with the campfire, though there was also some smoke rising to the ceiling.

The Seedot named Nathan smashed himself into the wall again, and just like before he didn’t seem any worse for ware for it. But that pressure in his body felt much greater now, all concentrated into his legs. His body felt tense yet at the same time stronger. Perhaps if he tried to attack the wall again? Third times the charm after all.

Being closer to a fire made Ravi fer less sluggish and more limber than he was prior to just slithering around in the cold dirt floor. While the fire wasn’t big, it was warm enough to heat up the cold-blooded creature and loosen his muscles. However this was more a warning of what could come, if he allows himself to be overly exposed to cold like rain and wind. While seviper are not particularly weak against ice and cold, cold-blooded reptiles they still were, and with some of the weaknesses that would imply. Though perhaps this would be a lesser issue if he could get his teeth around some meat and bulk up...

It was still a bit of a struggle for Celina to remain aloft, though she at least seems capable of controlling her decent without just plummeting to the ground. She would notice however, as her wings were getting warmed by the fire, that they started to look fluffier and feel lighter. Perhaps the heat was helping loosen the wool-like fur or at least drying the moisture that made her wings so heavy. Indeed she’d soon find it easier to float so long as she kept her wings nice and floofy. Which would only make this weather even worse for her; not only would the strong winds likely batter her about, but the rain would leave her soaking and without the ability to fly, or at least not flying well. She would best pray that this torrent would eventually come to an end.

As Lance moves closer to the fire, he’d notice that he was already sweating. Or something, it was hard to tell in his vaguely insectoid form. He seemed to be seeking some sort of persperant as he sat near the fire. It wasn’t painful in any particular way, it just felt like he was sweating, which was strange considering how cold the cave is and how puny the campfire is. If he was in his human body he’d still feel chilly, but in this one he was starting to get a bit hot under the collar. Aside from that, Lance would also easily be able to tell that Trevor’s attempt to light himself on fire was no where near succeeding.

Much like the seviper, Jeri felt more limber and maneuverable as she warmed herself near the fire. Unlike the seviper however, it didn’t really make her more flexible as much as it just loosened her body and skin so much that she started to look like a snake-theme pancake. On the bright side the tiny wings in her back, which originally felt more like skin flaps, were now loose enough that she could flutter it. For all the good that would do, considering that these wings were too puny to grant her any sort of lift. Maybe when she’s older and her existence was less awkward she could somehow make use of those things.

Trevor looked down at his still unlit tail, and seemed to mumble, a little bit about it before the other pokemon started asking for some sort of explanation. "Hm? Oh, right sorry about that, I kind of... got distracted, or something... anyways, as far as I can tell, we're all pokemon, strange, animal-like creatures with abilities bordering on magic. As for specifics, Lance, you're a steel and dark type, you should expect to learn some slashing skills, and some other skills that use your swords, and, being a dark type, you're immune to psychic types, which is important if we stay as a group, because... m-mister Ravi is a poison type, specifically Seviper, and should learn some skills that poison other pokemon. Poison types are weak to psychic type stuff, so... there's that. The... louder of the two snakes, despite being a snake as well, is actually a normal type, Dunsparce, I think... um... if I recall, that pokemon's gimmick is its ability, which lets added effects hit more often, allowing that pokemon to paralyze its opponent, and then just force them into a flinch-lock with moves that, well, make them flinch. It seems like Celina already knows what she is, she's a swablu, a normal flying type that loses its normal type for a dragon type when it evolves... of course, I always felt that its evolution wasn't really 'deserving' of the type, er... that type will come in handy, trust me. Of course, Lance won't be the only one who can handle psychics, since they don't do too well against ghost moves, but uh, careful, Vi, your ghost moves won't work on normal types, and those are common. Last but not least, the guy bashing his head against the wall is a seedot... one that probably only knows bide at this point, but, he's a grass type... a pokemon that's weak to fire, ice, poison, bug, and flying. He'll be helpful against water types, though... as for the civilization thing, I'll check it out, and you can come with me, Lance, but uh... we should be careful. Those might be trainers, humans who capture and train pokemon to fight... of course, they might also be fellow pokemon, I don't know if there ARE trainers, but... I'd rather not be someone's fighting dog, if you catch my drift," and with that out of the way, Trevor took a bit of time to relax... not too long though, since he had to get up to try to find some food.

After getting up, he gestured for Ravi to follow him, stating "If I can't trust anyone here, then we're not a team, right? E-either way, if I don't come back, you'll know why," he then started leaving, assuming that Ravi was already following him for better or worse. Normally, Trevor would take one of the sticks from the campfire, given how dark it was, however, the rain dissuaded him from doing so, as he thought the torch would just go out before doing anything useful, unfortunately.

Nathan finally started to wonder if it all might be real, after all. In an attempt to ignore those thoughts he charged the wall again since the feeling of tension got stronger after the second time. He half listened to the flameless Charmander explain some of the basics of Pokemon and missed the Swablu getting at flying but he did wonder why the Fire-type though he would learn Bide by running into a wall, Bide was a move that returned the damage someone dealt to the user after all and he was doing the attacking. He still believed that if anything Tackle was the more likely move.

It seemed like the Charmander was about to head out and had invited the Seviper along. Just like with the Swablu Nathan missed them improving their movements and wondered what good the snake, fully evolved or not would be. The Steeltype with the Ghost on its head was sitting next to the fire and Nathan couldn't help but wonder if that was safe due to its weaknesses. He also felt like he needed to correct the Charmander on something. "Don't forget that Grass-types are also good against either Ground or Rock, can't remember which my self I think Electric and like most Pokemon resist ou...their own type." He put extra emphasis on "their" since it could only be "our" if he really was a Seedot which was impossible.

"I see. Then we can be hopelessly lost together." She replied to Lance, still latched onto his head before addressing the Swablu. "I wouldn't say I am happy. I am curious, if anything, and intrigued by this development. Fear and confusion doesn't help anyone but me, it seems, wohoho~" That was only a small lie. She was indeed, slightly afraid. Anyone logically would be in this situation, her other emotions were just taking the forefront.

By then they had made their way back to where the lizard was, and he had begun to explain a little more about their individual species a bit more. Lance was Steel Dark, the serpent was a Poison type, and the slug thing was a Normal type. Most importantly though, her suspicions had just been confirmed. She was a 'ghost' type of some sort. Did she already know such a 'move'? She would need to figure it out, and since Trevor seemed like the most knowledgeable here...might as well tag along with him.

Plus, with things calming down a bit, it seemed whatever filling sensation had also diminished. If this was how she got her energy, then she couldn't stay here where things would be calm. Besides, she might be able to make a pretty good scare once she returned, heh! She'd experiment with that later. As well, she really didn't want to be cooped up in a tiny dirt cave at the moment.

...say if she was a ghost, could she go through walls and stuff?

"Hey, let me tag along." Vi said, finally letting go of Lance's head and floating after Trevor's and repeating the action of latching onto his head with her tiny arms. Come to think of it, having a ghost latched onto your head probably felt cold."Night is full of dangerous things. Ghosts. Monsters. Unknown creatures. A friendly little ghost would help. I might be able to see better than any of you." Not that they had much room to argue. She was going whether they wanted too or not. Their answer merely changed if she'd behave herself.
