As Joe walked to the headquarters, he paused. It was... pretty early to go right about now. It was only 1:30. The meeting was supposed to be at 8. What would he really do for the next six and a half hours? He looked around the streets and noticed a grocery store nearby. He still needed to go shopping for food and necessities. It was pretty close to his apartment, so it was pretty convenient. He turned off his GPS and wandered inside.
After a little bit of shopping, he walked out with a couple bags of groceries and made his way back to his apartment. Once he returned, he put his groceries away and began unpacking the rest of his belongings, folding up the cardboard boxes to use again once he had to move out of the apartment, and putting his new kitchenware into the dishwasher to be cleaned before their first use. There wasn't much aside from books, and some clothing. No real decorations or photos that he hung around the apartment. The place was pretty sparse.
By the time that he had finally finished, it was about six o'clock. He decided to make dinner before the meeting, so gathering some of the things he had bought that day, he quickly made a burger and some fries for himself. He sat alone at his counter, eating in silence. This was normal for him, he supposed. Even when he had roommates, they were never really that close. They had their schedules and lives, as did he. They rarely ran into noe another. He... had been fine with that arrangement.
Soon enough he finished his food and quickly washed the pans, knives, and plates he had used to prep, cook, and serve the food, placing them into the dishwasher after unloading it. He noted the time once again, a little after seven o'clock. The meeting was in an hour, he should probably get there soon. He put the address back into the GPS on his phone and rushed out the door, locking it behind him.
He walked briskly through the crowded streets towards his destination. He weaved through the crowds as fast as he could, doing his best not to run into anyone. Soon enough he came across a rather inconspicuous apartment building. Apparently this was his destination. He glanced once again at the time on his phone. 7:30. Half an hour until the meeting was to begin. He reached for the door handle, only to pause. Wasn't... there something Lana had told him about the door? Something about... some sort of defense mechanism? An enchantment that only allowed members of the Dark Shadows to be let in or else something... rather bad happened.
He let his hand fall back to his side as he let out a soft sigh. He had yet to be inducted into the organization, so if he tried to get in, he'd trigger the enchantment and end up... well... in not such a very good state. He looked around and swallowed nervously. What was he to do? He couldn't meander around the entrance, that might look suspicious, might bring undue suspicion to this particular location. He looked around and noted a bench not too far away. He walked over to it and took a seat, grabbing his phone and pretending to fiddle around with it as he waited for someone he recognized to appear. Lana or Al.
He had looked him up after getting his name from Lana. Apparently he was some rich kid. Doubt that anyone would have ever thought that he was a mage and in charge of... well... I guess... a terrorist group? Rebels? He wasn't sure what to label the Dark Shadows just yet. He just hoped he would see someone soon. Last thing he wanted to do on his first day was to be late because he couldn't even get in the door...
