Appearance: Leon is strikingly beautiful, especially considering he is a man. He's tall, at 6'4, but with a slender build. He has a flair for brightly colored outfits. A lot of cloaks. He's trying to rock that "charming magician" look. imgur.com/a/cXQyBLW
Year: Second
Rank: Journeyman
Room No.:
Personality: A jovial young man, Nicholas enjoys perfecting his potions. This is done through equal parts experimentation and stupid jokes. He's friendly and good natured, but likes to mess with people and sometimes enjoys causing trouble for his own amusement. He's very vain, and spends an inordinate amount of time on his personal appearance.
Magic Discipline: Alchemy (Creation): Using Alchemy, Leon can make many different kinds of potions, tonics, solvents, and oils. He keeps them in vials made of magically enhanced crystal, which is very durable. Where duration is applicable, each one holds enough potion for the effect to last 5 minutes. However, drinking less than that only reduces the effect (e.g. drinking a half bottle of invisibility potion lets the user stay invisible for 2 1/2 minutes.) He usually carries one of each, and needs an evening in his lab to refill them. He can carry more of each if they're needed, but that's more than the budget the academy gives him allows so it'll have to come out of his own pocket. Drinking is the preferred method, but his potions are also effective if introduced intravenously or through the skin.
Equipment:
*Invisibility: Drinking this potion makes the user completely invisible to the naked eye. This includes clothes and anything else the user has on their person. *Healing: This potion grants the imbiber a strong healing factor for the duration. Small cuts and scrapes mend themselves in seconds. Larger wounds that would normally scar usually take a minute or so to heal. Healing major injuries like broken bones or severed limbs takes longer than the potion lasts, but if you like hold the severed member up to the stump and drink the potion it'll reattach itself, but you need to be quick. *Solvent: Instead of a traditional potion, this is a strong acid. It melts through inorganic materials like stone and metal in mere seconds. It leaves organic things like flesh and wood completely intact. *Dog: Shapeshifts the imbiber into a cute puppy. *Firebreath: This potion allows the user to breathe fire. The fire is very very hot, enough to incinerate wood and start to melt metal/stone. Instead of a duration, the potion lets the user breathe fire up to 10 times, though like with the others this can be divided by only drinking some of the potion. *Levitation: Allows the user to reduce their weight. They can make themselves weigh as little as -0.001 pounds, at which point they will start to levitate upwards. Care must be taken, because when the duration runs out they'll immediately return to their normal weight. For this reason, Nicholas always carries a tiny extra vial with him in case of any great falls. *Growth: Quadruples the drinkers size, increasing their strength accordingly. *Euphoria: Makes you really really warm and fuzzy, stupid, and hallucinate if you have enough. Technically against the rules of the academy but he'll hook you up if you ask nicely. *Invisible Paint: A variant on his invisibility potion. This is a paint you put on inanimate objects, making them invisible until the paint is washed off. Water works fine. It comes in a spray can and there's enough in one for him to paint a bus. *Zombie Dust: If this powder is placed into the mouth of a dead body, it will reanimate as a zombie. Nicholas does not have any control of it, but fortunately the resulting undead are very weak and really only a nuisance. They are durable, however, and will persist until the brain is destroyed. *Beauty Products: Nick has an arsenal of soaps, shampoos, conditioners, powders, and other glamorous things. He has a strict self-care routine that leaves him very pretty and smelling nice.
*His cloaks, with lots of pockets for carrying his potions. *School stuff. *A lyre.
Biography: The son of Flavius Paracelsus, he followed his father for much of his youth as he searched for the philosopher's stone. Unfortunately, his father died in an accident with a levitation potion. He went to live with his grandmother after that, but it did absolutely nothing to curb his interest in alchemy. He was accepted to the university two years ago. Around the school, he's got a reputation as a prankster gangster, but also the guy you go to if you want a potion made.
Master: Formerly his father, Flavius Paracelsus. Otherwise he's mostly self-taught.
If Nicholas was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: His knowledge of potions. If Nicholas was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: A philosopher's stone.
"My name is Klaus Knuez. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Age:
"I am seventeen years of age, though people have commented on me being older... I can seldom grasp why.
Gender:
"I do believe I look masculine enough... however, if you need clarification, I am a male.
Appearance:
"My hair? Is it of natural coloration? Why no, it's actually dyed! Hm? What's with that bemused look?"
Composed and patient, the young butler stands at an estimated height of around two meters; Klaus is often seen exhibiting a well mannered simple grin as he stands almost at the ready. Much like the other butlers, he is physically fit due to training. However, due to staying behind two years, his muscle mass is superior to the other butlers. His build seems average, but with his height, demeanor, and appearance, most would mistake him for a much older student or servant at the university. He sports pale white skin that barely holds any distinction from snow, save for a light peach color. Klaus' eyes are a dull shade of purple and has dyed purple hair to match. His natural hair color is of a brown distinction.
His wear is usually formal and are usually tuxedos; he lacks any sort of informal attire. He does prefer the much more "regal" colors like purple and blue, but his visage will have some form of white or black on him. His current garment involves a purple suit and pants, crisply pressed. Instead of the usual bow tie, he sports a blue tie that poofs outwards. Underneath the coat his waistcoat which is a light shade of lavender. The shirt beneath that is white, lacking any sort of hue. Surprisingly, the only thing that isn't a shade of purple are his clean black shoes and dark socks.
Year:
"This is my first year attending the university. My Master wished for me to be fully prepared for what challenges lie ahead, so I chose to be held back two more years."
Rank:
"I was tried and set at the Journeyman rank... to be frank, it is something I fail to comprehend with my paltry set of magic."
Room No.:
"My room number 7-B from what I was told... I honestly haven't the faintest idea of who my roommates are... but I have heard people mentioning a storm there... how quaint, I suppose; hopefully it does not disrupt my beauty sleep, ha."
Personality:
"People say I have the quirk of going 'hm' a lot... hm... I don't note of it, you?"
Generally speaking, Klaus falls under the appearance of a stock "calm and collected" persona. As he grew up under the careful watch of his Master, he grew into a somewhat polite young man who seems to be almost rough around the edges when he talks (i.e. says something to upset another). Very seldom is he seen without a smile on his face, ready to serve another person. His speech does come off as formal for the most part, unchanging unless faced with what he finds to be a hollow situation... but thankfully he is somewhat lax for the most part.
Klaus is probably one of the more dedicated mages out there, often working to further himself in the world and strives obsessively for perfection in certain areas. This can lead him to compulsively dusting a room until the tiniest molecules invading the area completely disperse to shining a shoe until it begins lighting up more brightly than a Christmas Tree.
For all his dedication, he does oft beat himself up, truly seeing himself as one of the lesser mages of the realm. While he does frankly want to become the next Archetype, he solemnly believes that he lacks the talent and won't be anything better than a butler. However, it is difficult to pick up on this, considering his mannerisms can come off as dry humor or just poking fun at himself. This can also lead to him assisting other mages in their growth, or at least attempting to. Can actually lose his usual demeanor to anger if complimented on his magical abilities.
His character tics range from his demure but usual upright stance. Along with that, he has verbal tics, sometimes adding a "hm" when he speaks. From time to time, as strange as it sounds, Klaus may carry his materials on his platter instead of his satchel. Usually due to him enjoying the confused reactions of others. Despite his affable and upstanding appearances, he does enjoy dying his hair different colors, most notably purple. He also has a tea obsession.
Magic Discipline:
"I'm not really comfortable talking about my magic as it truly isn't as grandeur as the other magi at the University."
Belief Magic: Subcategory of Existence
Klaus' magic stems from the strength of his conviction, his own beliefs, to alter the world around him. As a journeyman the magic is limited to small pockets and himself. While his own beliefs can waver and change this can cause an efflux in the strength of his powers, albeit temporarily. While waiting to readjust, he can "tap" into other people's beliefs as resources, however, he can suffer from the same problem as before if their beliefs begin to change or crumble. Along with that, their views must line up somewhat appropriately with his own, otherwise, he won't be able to reach the peak of his abilities.
- Belief:
This magic applies change directly onto Klaus himself. This belief acts as a sort of exchange of sorts where he can garner an asset to help him in combat. However, in exchange to keep equilibrium, he must curse himself with a weakness to offset it. However, there are ways of getting around the equal exchange part of his magic (i.e. tapping into another's beliefs at full strength/Faith). An extreme example of this was if he wanted to make himself a wall that could never be damaged, he would have to sacrifice all of his mobility. Another example that he gains the power of flight but sinks like a rock when in water. When coming to "magical" elements, lets say he wishes to use ice magic. In return, he takes more damage from those affiliated with fire magic.
What happens if he tries to make an unequal deal or get a better ability while remedying the weakness? Well, lets just say he has a tendency to cough up blood and grow even more paler than he usually looks. Should end well with him trying to force himself to improve.
- Faith:
When used, he can tap into the other ideologies of other people and use that to empower himself whether or not his own view has crumbled. This can give him a little more strength needed to get a weaker flaw or makes him more formidable. Of course, as stated above, if anyone's belief doesn't exactly line up with his, the cons will outweigh the pros. Even more so if he isn't careful, as it can cause some alteration to his own beliefs which in return can debilitate Klaus.
- Tenet:
Using his magic, Klaus can create an immobile bubble that reaches up to twenty meters in circumference. In this bubble, he can alter the rules of this small world to his advantage, changing any of the functions. However this can prove to be a double-edged sword as whatever affects the person will in turn affect him. As an example, lets say he triples the gravity of the world. Unless he leaves, it will continue to affect him, as well as his opponent. The bubble only stays for fifteen minutes and he cannot change its location or make a new one until this one has dissipated. It always forms at the center of Klaus.
- Truth and Lies:
As a minor extent of his abilities, Klaus has the ability to discern the difference between truths and lies. While this ability is passive, there are ways to avoid getting called out on a lie, such as telling a part of the truth. However, twisting the truth to your advantage isn't a very good idea. Usually telling a lie and truth in one will always seem to muddle his brain and give him a little headache.
Equipment:
"One piece I keep on me is this platter of mine... hm? Why? In any chance I might need to use it... you wish to hold it? Very well, but be careful. It's a lot heavier than your usual platter, being about... hm... an estimate of thirty kilograms."
"Hm? My satchel? Oh, it's used to carry miscellaneous items and anything school related. It's nothing special, truly."
Biography:
"I was born to two hardworking mages who wanted to see their son succeed. What more can I say?"
Klaus' parents were nothing outstanding to be quite frank - one was at the Master rank while the latter gave up on succeeding at the test and stayed at the rank of Journeyman. Neither of them expected to have a child so early on in their life and struggled to make ends meet while keeping Klaus happy. It wasn't until he was five when they received an offer, stating that he was one of many who had great magic potential. While there were more blandishments, they saw the signature of a Grandmaster. They were sold on the prospect of wanting their son to rise above their occupation and allowed the man to take in Klaus.
The first years was filled with menial chores and benign tasks which seemed to annoy and tax the less patient of children who question when they were going to begin training in magic. A year later, five of those ten were left. Through determination, the Grandmaster began putting them all through rigorous training as well as difficult education and physical pursuits. If they were to hone their mind, they would all need to have healthy bodies to go along.
After myriads of years of service to the hardworking, yet slightly immature man, they all received an invitation to go to B.U.M. by none other than their own master. He, of course, warned against this, requesting them to think on this decision. At the end of the week, only Klaus remained.
The next two years were much harder since the Grandmaster could focus solely on one pupil and drill him down. That and he lived in a manor, which meant Klaus had to clean all the whole place thoroughly as well as quickly. It stressed the young man out, but over time he became accustomed to it, as well as his magic. Those two extra years seemed to pay off, but in Klaus' mind, he felt it wasn't enough. He felt he hadn't reached his peak state, denoting himself mentally as mediocre.
And much to his befuddlement, he is now beginning his first year at B.U.M. as a Journeyman... he still questions his Grandmasters judgement on this subject, as well as the schools. Was he truly prepared?
Master:
"My Masters name is Gerald Retsiem, one of the realms fifty Grandmasters. Despite his elderly appearance, there are times when he acts mature and other times where he pranks us, much like some of us would at a younger age. He's probably one of the richest mages from what I've learned and to go along with that, he usually takes in myriads of apprentices as a challenge from what I heard, usually ten. However, due to the way he trained us, after the first year, half of the children left to find another Master."
"Regardless, after cleaning his house, doing chores, and the usual schoolwork, he became a lot more serious and stern, though he never lost his amusing behavior..."
"How old were we when we were apprenticed? We were all around five to seven at the time, with me being the baby of the bunch. Our control over magic improved exponentially and after ten years of grueling service, he offered us a choice. Stay and train for two extra years or begin attending B.U.M. Most of us were eager to depart, myself included... but he request we stay for one more week."
"After that one week, only I remained because I realized that I probably wasn't ready yet... while it was only I having to clean up the house, it was tough but honest work. I still had time to spare for family and acquaintances, but for the most part it was all work... hm? Did it get boring? Sort of, I won't waltz around with honeyed words, but I wish to believe the effort was well spent in the end..."
"Hm? What rank are the other Apprentice's that I served aside in? Apologies, but I don't know that answer."
If [Klaus] was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be:
"That's... quite a hefty question, considering that I don't truly have anything I consider important aside from my family, magic and master... hmm maybe the bonds that I will eventually build up with other people? Fond memories and sorts that cement friendships. If that wouldn't work... my master? This is a very loaded question... and to be frank, it doesn't sit well with me."
If [Klaus] was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be:
"Hm... it's either fulfilling my dream of becoming an Archetype or returning what I was forced to sacrifice. Hmm? Why is the former apart of this? Because I'm unsure of what else to do... I mean, I could always become a butler to my master, but eventually even he will pass on. I need a solid foundation for myself."
"...? Why would I want what I sacrificed back? If it truly was important, wouldn't you wish for it back?... hm... this simplistic question truly boggles my mind and leads me to discover myriads of questions in its wake... such as if it was important, why would I sacrifice it at all? Hm..."
"... well, I guess I will have to expand on these two items in the future..."
Dammmnnnnn, I don't wanna try and picture Klaus and Aeries fighting... that would be insane... their abilities seem so different yet so similar in essence
Liors is shy and very soft spoken, and is a bit of a pushover. She'd much rather follow along with someone else's idea even if she didn't like it rather than offer her own. She is much more of a listener than a talker, and is content to sit and nod. When she does speak, she is often optimistic and prefers live on the bright side of life. However, she also tends to block out and ignore things she doesn't like. She is very forgetful and gets paranoid about not having things, even if she is sure she has them.
She lives by 'better safe then sorry', and stays firmly in her comfort zone. At the same time, she is a people pleaser down to the bone, and would do a dangerously broad range of things just to make someone happy, or so that they won't be disappointed in her. Liors finds it difficult to live with people disliking her, and would rather do what she can to regain their favour over not being bothered. She can be obsessive over other people's views of her, causing her unwillingness to share ideas or do anything other than do what people want.
Liors has a heavy attachment to material objects, and can become emotionally attached to just about anything she spends enough time with. Because of this, she is a pretty big hoarder, and can't bear to throw things out, even if she hasn't touched it in five years due to 'sentimental value'. She also gets attached to people, but this happens much less often, as she's not very good at becoming close enough to a person to develop this attachment.
She likes to play music, and plays both the piano and the lyre, but often the latter as she can't carry around a piano. She also enjoys singing, but as with playing, she doesn't do it much in places that aren't absolutely private. Having said that, she is good at both. Liors also enjoys baking, even if her cookies often come out black and charred.
Creation -summoning 'spirit' objects -when her objects sustain a certain amount of damage, or exist for a certain period of time (2hrs) -Liors can simply force them to disappear if she wants -Liors can only summon a certain amount of things, for example she could have a limit of 100 pencils or so -the bigger the object the less she can summon at once, so her 100 pencils may only be 2 blankets -when one of her spirit objects disappear, it frees up space so to speak, and she can create something else to fill it -her objects can be handled and used by herself and others -the objects appear tinted indigo and translucent -total volume of her summoned objects is about 2m^3, can be increased with training -she is completely unable to go past her limit, if she continuously tries to, it can have severe repercussions on her body -gradually gets more fatigued the more she creates objects (cannot keep destroying and creating objects over and over)
-ID -ornate wedding ring, silver with a blue-purple alexandrite gem. on the inside it says 'M Myrisal'. -her lyre. the wood looks a little scorched, but the aesthetic of it is quite nice. -talismans on jewellery, mainly necklaces with little symbols on them. they don't seem to do anything, but they're pretty and comforting to wear. -everything (cheap) you'd need to summon a spirit. she can't actually use them, but that doesn't mean she can't set it up for the sake of it. -a silk scarf. it's pale silver and translucent with yellow flowers embroidered on it. the corner of it says 'Deirdre', embroidered with silver thread.
Liors grew up in a small town with her two sisters and her parents, who owned a small family bed and breakfast. Her younger sister was a magical prodigy and studied magic from a young age. Liors and her elder sister worked, and she picked up some hobbies, such as music, which she played for the patrons, and sewing, which she used to make clothes for her family. Also, her love of baking, but she never did get the hang of it.
One day, while her younger sister was visiting, a fire broke out, which killed both her parents. In an incident that she believes to be her own fault, her young sister was killed as well. Had she listened to her siblings and stayed outside in the safety, they would both be alive, which was the beginning of Liors’s unwillingness to follow what she believes is best. What she was able to recover from the fire sparked the beginning of her hoarding habit.
Her and her elder sister moved into the city, and struggled. Liors began mundane school, but her sunny disposition and meek personality were not suited for it the same way that she survived in a much smaller community. She did as she was told, whether it was her classmates or her sister, who was too busy rushing around and working to notice the fruits of the fire rotting in Liors’s hands. Life continued, and that was just how it was for some time.
She trained magic on her own, but between her and her sister, whose magic was not very strong, she couldn’t make much progress. She had lots of practice, as her spirits were of much use in daily life, but it still wasn’t enough.
After a particularly bad incident, which she had used magic for (it would’ve been difficult otherwise, and besides it’s not like anyone would know she used it) where she had collaborated with some others who had promptly thrown her under the bus, this changed. Mr Krisa, a teacher who was strict and cranky in absurd amounts, revealed he was a master, and volunteered to tutor Liors if she stayed out of trouble. He was far too old to be teaching anything outside of formulas and numbers, but he did the best he could.
She didn’t become any less of a doormat, as Krisna klindly put it, but she stopped using magic for the sake of others. They were ordinary, and if she couldn’t make them happy ordinarily, then she would never be able to or her training would be discontinued. Even if she wanted to please everyone, Krisa was top priority, second to only Liors’s elder sister. Eventually, after much protesting, Liors sent in her application and was admitted to the Breakfast University of Magic. She couldn’t bear to be away from her sister, who could be gone as easily as the other, and whom she had become increasingly dependent on.
The first year passed uneventfully. She made herself scarce, hid in the gardens or wherever she could find that was empty, and there she sang to the tunes of the lyre, practicing her magic. Day in, day out, she learned a decent amount of other student’s names but she doubted they’d ever noticed her. Except, this time, she’s going with new purpose. It’s not like she could say no to her sister.
“Make some friends, Lio.”
Master: Epis Krisa
If Liors was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: Her dearest possessions, perhaps either her lyre or her mother's wedding ring, or both.
If Liors was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: She'd like to go back to the life she had with her family, incident-free. While she does enjoy living in the city and practicing magic, she'd leave it in a heartbeat if she got the chance, if she could turn back the clock.
Freya doesn't care what you think, why you think it, or really, even that you have thoughts. She's sick of everyone's shit, and ready to make her own way in the world, regardless of what anybody has to say about it. She knows what she wants, and has plans to go and get it, regardless of who or what is standing in her way. She doesn't trust easy, but those she does trust, she trusts absolutely. She'll stick to her guns, no matter what, and as far as she's concerned, a slight against a friend is a slight agaianst her.
Magic Discipline: Void
Freya's primary area of research involves utilising the void for energy nullification. She has managed to utilise this in two key areas -
Ambient radiation deprivation - Over a 10 metre radius focusing on herself, she can remove ambient forms of radiation to various degrees ranging from radio waves right the way through to gamma rays. The most useful use for this in combat is removing light, ensuring nobody can see anything, and removing heat (infra red), making it cold. Shenis currently working on expanding this radius, and projecting it so that it no longer focuses on herself. In a similar vein, she can also remove sound energy in a 10m radius.
Magic Depleting Forcefield - She can create miniature 'shields', about the size of dish plates, on both hands. These shields neutralise the magical energy of attacks that come into contact with them.
Equipment: None that I can think of
Biography: Freya's been at BUM as long as anyone can remember, even herself. Master Royle took her in when she was 11 years old after finding her lost and with no memory of her former life. Even though she wasn't quite at the level required to enrol fully, he trained her, and she was eventually competent enough to enrol as an apprentice when she was 13. She made novice at 15, and Journeyman at 18, and spent most of her time when not improving her own abilities, helping Master Royle with his research into the nature of the void, specifically, where things that got eaten by the void went.
And then, one night, Master Royle disappeared.
The other academics at the university brushed it off. Whilst it was always a shame to lose a member of staff to their craft, it was far from unheard of, particularly where void users were concerned, due to their tendency to banish into apparent nothingness. He was declared dead, and within a month or so, people moved on.
People that is, who weren't Freya. Despite the fact that she was assigned to a new research group, led by the kind but bumbling Master Anna Semper, interested in the possible healing applications of void magic, Freya began her mission of trying to peice together Master Royle's research.
Unfortunately, this has thus far proved to be somewhat challenging - as brilliant a mage and a scientist as he was, Master Royle was a tad... eccentric. It's been six months, and Freya is at loose ends. Plus, the university administrators are starting to wonder where she's been disappearing off to...
Master: Master Bartholomew Royle (Missing, presumed dead), Master Anna Semper (probationary assignment)
If Freya was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: Any hope of bringing Master Royle back.
If Freya was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: Bringing Master Royle back.
A'ight, giving a 24 hour time period for anyone that wants to finish up their CS before I begin the IC. This does not mean I will no longer be accepting new CS's after I start, but I'm aware some people have a hard time keeping up once an RP is rolling an they haven't started yet.
