Alright, here's Vivian. She's a baby villain right now, but I can see her growing into the role if this RP continues on long enough. Or maybe anti-hero role, we'll see. I'm not even sure if you want villain-like characters, and I'm willing to scrap and start over if this isn't what you had in mind for the RP. Also I know I said was considering genderbending, but that didn't happen because goth gf, lol.
Vivian Vanbrooke | 26 | ♀
APPEARANCE
Her round face and golden brown eyes; and her dark hair falls straight, stopping just short of her chin. She uses makeup to accent her eyes: the black eyeliner is thick, the eye shadow gold, and the mascara volumizing. Much of her strength is in her toned legs as she's always on the move. Her clothing of choice is mostly neutral colors: browns, blacks, and greys. She wears fashion inspired by post apocalyptic fiction with a sprinkle of goth. Her jewelry tends to be gold in color and is often decorated by skulls. However, the intimidation she was going for is easily lost to her size: she stands no taller than 5'2" and weighs in at only about 105 lbs. Other notable characteristics are the many earrings, piercings on the side of her nose and belly button, and the tattoos that start on her upper arm and extends to her back.
PERSONALITY
As a child, Vivian was--to put it bluntly--creepy: she was a quiet kid with an intelligent and perceptive gaze, and she hasn't grown out of this. There is still a knowing gleam in her eyes, but its often accompanied by a smirk nowadays. She likes chit chat and has a broad sense of humor, finding almost anything funny. Because of this, she is extremely charismatic and has a natural gravity: people tend to be drawn to her despite her edgier appearance. She certainly stands out even in personality. She's snarky and sarcastic, and it's usually charming, but she can definitely take it too far into mean territory, giving further insight into her personality: she is not nice. As quirky and fun Vivian can be, she cares little for other people and has much more fun being antagonistic than she does friendly. Her personal interests include comic books and anime, inspiring the impracticality of her alter ego.
HOMETOWN
East London, England
BIOGRAPHY
Vivian was born across the Atlantic to a pair of dentists. All her youth, she was pushed toward education and tradition when all she wanted was to explore and experience the world. Instead of continuing to higher education, she skipped out and followed her at-the-time boyfriend's band to America. However, the band broke up, then they broke up, and Vivian was alone in a foreign country. For a few years, she bounced between jobs trying to make a living--often jobs that paid too little for too much work, off the books so she wouldn't have to return to England.
When her powers developed, all that changed: she took what she wanted and no longer worried about where her next paycheck or meal was coming from. Super Heroes are on the rise, however, and she needs a villainous persona to carry out her deeds.
SKILLS
- Pick pocket: Vivian came to America as a tourist, but now she preys on them. Her powers developing have only increased her success rate--or at least, her escape rate. - (Novice) Combat: now that she risks tangling with superheroes and she has the ability to flee, she wants to develop her ability to fight. She's taking kick boxing classes twice a week to improve her athleticism.
The Reaper
POWER
Teleportation. Vivian is limited to teleporting how far she can clearly perceive. At her skill level, that means she's limited to as far as she can see. This is a distinct weakness for her because if it's dark or if she's blinded in some way, she's not going anywhere.
TOOLS
- Supervillain outfit: in order to conceal her identity, Vivian wears a gasmask and hood. With her boyish figure and cloak, as well, it's not easy to tell it's a woman under the clothes. People are generally unsure of The Reaper's gender. - Supervillain weapon: a scythe, unused (for now). Vivian is one for theatrics, and while the scythe is an impractical weapon, it serves to define her motif of death. It's ultimately for the aesthetic and she doesn't know how to fight.
EXTRA
She does try to limit using her powers when she's dressed for the part, but she's also rather impulsive. In addition, while Vivian is rather talkative, the Reaper is ominously silent--truth is, her accent would be too recognizable if she engaged in conversation as the Reaper.
Here is the idea for my character. I've been going back and forth with @pyroman in PM's to flesh out some details.
Interference
Name:
Dr. Eileen Fang (Fang Ai Ling)
Alias:
Interference, or Dr. Fang
Appearance:
Eileen is not petite, but is certainly unassuming, and easily overlooked. She does not have heroic proportions by any means, and is a bit on the short side with a small frame. She usually wears her dark, shoulder-blade-length hair in a small ponytail, and wears glasses for purely cosmetic reasons.
Eileen dresses very casually, usually sufficing with a T-shirt and a skirt, since she will almost always have a white lab coat draped over the ensemble. She is so casual in fact, that she even often wears flip-flops and sandals in the lab (Gasp! A safety violation!) but since she is usually master of her own lab, there is no one to punish her for this infraction.
Age:
35
Gender:
Female
Hometown:
Boston, Massachusetts
Biography:
Eileen went through her incident-free life as an obedient, model citizen. She was disciplined to achieve success and perfection in her studies through tough parenting. Despite that, she seems well-adjusted enough. At a young age, Eileen demonstrated a knack for complex mathematics and, by extension, physics. Complacently and blindly, Eileen powered through her education, gaining multiple honors and advanced degrees. Though praised as a prodigy, Eileen remained humble and reserved. Her intellect allowed her to achieve a high profile academic career and she eventually found herself working in government laboratories, developing cutting-edge technology. Her research is in optronics: using photons instead of electrons for data storage and transfer. Optronics will be significantly faster and more powerful than electronics, so Eileen plans to make artificial intelligence based on optronic hardware. Mostly her work has been in weapons development, creating efficient laser weapons and sensor technology for the military, as well as various surveillance applications for internal policing and espionage.
However, to harness light and sound in this way, Eileen relies on special piezoelectric crystals. While trying to deduce the refractive and acoustic properties of the crystals in order to create devices to harness them, her proximity to the crystals awoke some hidden power in Eileen, causing her to acquire a mastery over the wave phenomena the crystals exhibited. With a keener understanding of sound and light coupled with her mathematical genius, Eileen dove deeper into her research, though she now had a new goal: to use her research and her powers for the betterment of mankind. Leveraging her research position and her overall compliant nature, she has been vocally promoting the partnership between the government and so-called vigilante superhero organizations, ultimately leading to the creation of the Superheroics Support Division, and now Eileen is a support scientist, aiding the members of Bastion as a government liaison, providing them with investigative resources, as well as the manufacture of support equipment.
Early in her life, due to her intelligence, she saw the governments of the world as inherently broken, but she did not succumb to angst and rebellion. She sees super-powered individuals as the catalyst necessary to subjugate the old conflicting governments and create a new united utopia for Earth. Her intentions are pure, but her methods may be a little extreme as she has no qualms with 'sterilizing', cleansing or purging the world of the 'old order' as she sees necessary.
Personality:
Eileen is soft-spoken and big-sisterly, often displaying cute, ditzy mannerisms. She can get excited when talking about technology or research, but is quite subdued most of the time. Yet her slow, quiet speech is accompanied with a certain gravity. She is very nurturing to her teammates, motherly as she takes care of their needs while also pushing them to challenge themselves and improve. Her quietness, at times, seems forlorn and determined as she stares off into some brave new future that she knows will one day come.
On the other hand, her personality slightly changes when she engages as a superhero. Half of her powers being based off sound, Eileen understands the value of being loud, and often utilizes shock-and-awe tactics. In combat, she can be exacting, precise, and relentless, with a flair for the grandiose. Control defines her, whether that is mastery over herself or the battlefield. She is determined to push onward and use the most optimum method to get the job done.
Skillset:
Genius-level intellect - Blessed with a very high intelligence, Eileen can solve mathematical wave equations quickly and easily in her head, as well as send, receive, and process vast quantities of data. The fact that the entire surface area of her skin can now send and receive light, means that given the proper equipment, she can turn her body into a supercomputer. her access to cutting-edge laboratories also means that she has the resources and the know-how to manufacture specialized equipment for herself or her allies.
Government backing - Eileen is by-the-book, and has made great strides in legitimizing the idea of superheroes to the government. With a government lab at her disposal and the trust of high-ranking officials, Eileen is the go-to for any superpowered individual seeking amnesty and legitimacy.
Powers:
Eileen has acquired the ability to emit, detect, and absorb phenomena that exhibit mathematical wave behavior: sound and light. She uses technology to augment her abilities, relying on harmonics. The light and sound is emitted from her body (skin).
Sound Wave Emission/Reception - Eileen can emit as well as absorb/hear audible sound as well as sound outside the audible range, allowing her to mimic voices, make herself completely silent, send out shockwaves, fire disorienting beams of ultrasound, produce the brown note, have superhearing, tell when people are lying, etc.
EM Wave Emission/Reception - Eileen can emit and absorb/see visible light as well as light outside the visible spectrum allowing her to fire microwaves, create flashbangs, camouflage, have x-ray vision, night-vision, eavesdrop on radio communications, etc.
Tools and Equipment(If any):
Interference wears a caped, white enamel androgynous power suit that is easily mistaken for a robot. It looks something like the following image. But the head has a single red camera in the center like the following image.
Power suit - Provides minor protection, mainly used to focus or augment her sound and light abilities, gives her control of her 'locusts'. The inside of the suit is lined with fiber optics, allowing her to send information to the suit and receive information from the suit.
Surveillance Swarm - a swarm of microrobot drones in the form of beetles/locusts used mainly for spying and eavesdropping, though Eileen can also use them offensively by laying them around in intricate patterns that amplify the harmonics of an area, augmenting her powers.
Blast Bludgeon - a long, bat-like triangular rod that functions like a tuning fork. Eileen uses this to triangulate the harmonic frequencies of objects she strikes with it. After several strikes, she is able to determine the vibrational frequency that is most destructive to the particular material she is striking. She already knows what frequency works best for concrete and bone-through-flesh.
Mythos Biblios Omniac - Omniac is Eileen's custom AI. It occupies an optronic supercomputer in her lab and communicates with most of her gadgets. it can do the 'thinking' when she is otherwise preoccupied.

Here's something heroic:
And here's something a little more...contradictory and noisy:
There we go! Just working on the backstory now, gotta shorten that sucker^^"
Name: Nathan Malu
Alias: He hasn't come up with one for himself yet so for now he adapted his great great grandfathers hero alias Shade
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Hometown: A log cabin in an uncivilized part of the Hawaiian forests
Appearance: Nathan is 1.7m tall and weighs about 80kg, making him rather small and stout in appearance. Having been born and raised on the Hawaiian islands, his skin tone is comparable to a dull bronze or a soft golden-brown-ish color. His black hair reaches down to his shoulders and becomes increasingly curly the longer it gets. He usually wears it openly and tucks one side behind his ear, although sometimes he ties it into a short ponytail so it doesn't get in the way. Nathan's face is round but not chubby and his bright light-brown eyes sit atop an unremarkable ever-smiling face.
He usually wears an open hoodie jacket over plain t-shirts, that usually have some quip or joke printed on them. He likes to wear shorts, since they are comfy and easy to wear. Especially cargo shorts, because he likes to have a lot of pockets on them for a bunch random things, like a flashlight, his phone and a pair of sunglasses. Nathan also prefers comfortable off brand running shoes over expensive, flashy sports branded ones, probably due to their short life span on his feet. (Picture in the works as well) Biography: In 1870 two brothers, Kahananui and Kimo Malu, stood on the edge of the forest clearing they called home. The clearing had a small log cabin and a field with homegrown vegetables in it, as well as a small chicken coop and a tool shed. Kimo, the younger brother, had just turned 26 and after their mother died, he had decided to leave the island for the mainland. Kahananui, the older brother, understood his brothers desire for freedom, but would not leave with him. He was 30 at the time, but looked like a 12 year old, due to his strange abilities. They hugged each other once, said there farewells and a second later Kimo was gone, slipping into the long sunset shadows and disappearing from his brothers view.
About 140 years later Kahananui stumbled upon a small confused boy near his cabin in the woods and took him in. He hadn't noticed the boy at first, and would probably have ignored him if it wasn't for the child's bright yellow eyes, that stared at the old man through the shadowy forest. Recognizing the eyes from over a century ago, Kahananui was overjoyed for a moment and ran towards the yellow glint in the bushes, startling the child. Realizing his mistake, the man calmed down and took the crying child to his home, where he explained that he thought, that at long last his brother had returned and apologized to the boy. The boy however wouldn't speak to the kind man for an entire week before introducing himself as Nathan Malu. Kahananui was again overjoyed when hearing that name and exclaimed that the boy must be his great-great-grandnephew. He pulled up a necklace from under his shirt and showed it to Nathan, who had a pendant of his own, that he had received from his father. His resembled a full moon, with a weird structure on the back of it. His uncle gave Nathan the other pendant, who studied it for a second. The old man's pendant resembled a ring of fire, like he had seen in depictions of the sun. Withing the ring was a hollow circle, that had the perfect size for his moon to fit in it. Nathan combined the 2 halves and showed it to his uncle, who, overwhelmed by emotions, started crying and hugged his nephew.
From that day forward Nathan would learn everything Kahananui could teach him. From reading and writing, to farming and woodcutting. His uncle also told Nathan everything about his brothers legacy that the boy might have inherited. He revealed to him, that his parents, his brother and him were part of the old superhero generation back before the 20th century. His parents had lived a life of crime-fighting before they decided to settle down and start a family. They went to a remote location to keep their children safe and Kahananui had lived there ever since. He explained that he had been born with an ability he presumed to be immortality at first. His wounds would always heal almost instantly and he aged at a snail's pace, however through the years he realized, that it's more of a turtle aspect situation. He could communicate with the shelled creatures down at the beach and his life was only prolonged, not eternal. He always thought that he might one day grow a shell of his own, but there were no indications for that so far. He then started to tell Nathan about his brother, who had had the ability to control and manipulate shadows, he was a genius, molding them to his will and even solidifying them and using them as blades or shooting spikes from them. He practically vibrated with pride talking about him. He told Nathan, that their mother had given them the pendant on her deathbed and that he knew, that the other half would one day return to him. Then Kahananui went on and taught Nathan everything about the history he had lived through and observed throughout his live. During his long life Kahananui had started to practice martial arts as a means of meditation and after realizing the enormous physical capacities of his nephew he started teaching him everything he knew about them as well.
A total of 9 years Nathan spent learning and training on the island, without ever seeing anyone besides his great-great-granduncle and the only person who knew they were up there, a village elder called Kahili from the opposite side of the island. Kahili supplied them with news, emergency supplies and batteries for their crude electrical equipment. An old radio, a bunch of flashlights and an electrical razor, that Kahananui said, was the best thing to ever be invented. But then, in 2018, something terrible happened. While Nathan was fast asleep from a group of strangers had broken into the log cabin and, after losing 3 members of their team, managed to catch the old turtle hermit off guard with a sneak attack using one of their member's powers. They restrained him and cut off his arms to put them into an icebox before breaking both of his knees and running away into the night. Kahananui, feeling his life coming to an end, managed to drag himself into Nathan's room to wake him up. Nathan opened his eyes feeling slightly dazed and finding it difficult to wake up at all, like he was fighting against some sleeping medicine, but when he turned his head and saw his mutilated uncle sitting in his doorway he was immediately wide awake. He jumped out of his bed and ran to get their emergency first-aid kit, but Kahananui stopped him. Being glad that the boy was unharmed he started to explain what happened and that his time was running out. He told Nathan, that those guys had had powers, just like in the olden days and that he thought another era of superheroes was afoot. His best guess for the intrusion was, that someone had found out about his existence and wanted to experiment on the original hero DNA, but he didn't understand how they knew or how they got here without him noticing. All throughout his uncle's explanation Nathan was hugging him, hyperventilating and sobbing. His uncle comforted him, saying that he lived a long and peaceful live and then told him to take both parts of the necklace. His final words were, “That way you will always have me and my brother's hearts with you.” and with a last toothy grin he had passed away. Nathan was completely shaken by this and, after taking his uncles pendant and combining the two parts once more, he laid his uncle's body on his bed and covered it with a white blanket.
The following two weeks Nathan just said on a chair next to the bed with an empty expression on his face. He still cared for the crops and chickens, but he only did so on autopilot, never losing his empty stare. After said two weeks Kahili showed up for her monthly visit and saw that the door was open. Confused she stepped into the cabin to see three dead bodies in Kahananui's old room and a sleeping Nathan on a chair next to his occupied bed. Walking over to the teenager, she hugged him tightly, waking him in the process. Nathan was startled for a second then embraced the old woman and cried for the first time since his uncle had died. For a long time they just sat there and cried, but when the tears stopped flowing Nathan told Kahili, that he wanted to leave for the mainland and find out who had done this to his beloved foster parent. Kahili nodded understandingly and over a course of 7 days they buried Kahananui by the turtle beach and prepared everything for Nathan's journey. Kahili gave Nathan a smartphone, a backpack, which he filled with everything he had, and about 200 dollars to help him on the other side. After a very sentimental good-bye Nathan left his home with the bi-annual ferry to uncover the reason for his uncle's murder.
It didn't take Nathan long to learn, that he'd find the most valuable information in Bell Reach. However getting there would take him much longer than he thought. For starters, he had gotten of the ferry in the very far north of California before finding out about Bell Reach and facepalming at the realization, that he could've easily told the ferryman to land further south, seeing as he was the only passenger on the boat. However after a week of traveling south by foot and sleeping in a tent he had bought he stumbled upon a skate park in the outskirts of a small town. Fascinated by the skaters, their boards and the music he heard he asked them if he could try it once and his natural talent kicked in once more, astounding everyone present and prompting him to hang around the area for a while. The other kids and teens thought he was a bit strange, but his cheerful demeanor and trustworthy exterior made him rather popular in a short amount of time. He even bought himself a skate board of his own and earned some money on the side with small scale competitions. He eventually did continue his southward journey, but whenever he'd meet another group of skaters he'd hang around the area for a while to get to know them and save their contacts on his phone, which in the beginning someone had explained to him over the course of a very frustrating week. He eventually got it however and now added just about any song he'd hear and like to his library. After about half a year he started to encounter more and more people with powers in the skate parks and subsequently heard about many problems caused by power wielders. Slowing his journey down even more he started solving such problems, whenever he could, to help his new friends and through some of these excursions made some friends and foes in the underworld of some of the bigger cities he traveled through. Throughout these excursions, battles and small adventures Nathan noticed something weird happening to him. He had always known about his eye's weird yellow properties when stepping into shadows, however lately he had started to be able to see much better whenever they'd glow, as well as physically feel the presence of his enemies around him, even when he wasn't punching or kicking them. He started experimenting around and realized that he had actual powers of his own and to his delight they were even shadow related.
After being on the road for about a year and a half, Nathan had developed a decent understanding of his abilities, although he felt like he had room for improvement, he was very proud of his shadow walking. Using and training these abilities in addition to his small scale fame he was gathering led some of his friends to suggest, that he should get a costume to hide his identity like the heroes in the comics did and Nathan thought this to be a pretty smart idea as well. He remembered how his uncle had told him about his great great grandfathers plans to become a superhero and help people and at that moment he could really feel his forefather's ideals within himself. With this feeling in him he set up camp in a friend's garden, borrowed a bunch of comics and started imagining himself as a superhero. From what he had gathered they had always been popular, but ever since the power wielder boom it seemed to actually become somewhat of a needed profession, especially in Bell Reach, since quite a few people starting acting out their villainous tendencies with their newfound powers. However Nathan soon realized, that he had no idea what he should call himself. He was no Batman or Dare Devil from the comics, at most he was a Nightcrawler but just stealing someone else's name, fictional or not, didn't seem right to him. He thought back to what his uncle had told him and decided that, until he found a proper name for himself, he could always just take up his legacy as a descendant of Shade, the shadow hero. Even if he wasn't quite the same Shade his great great grandfather was, he figured than no one remembered the original Shade anyway, so no one would notice, that Nathan wasn't actually a master shadow manipulator and genius, but instead just a shadow chameleon in a way. He then started playing around with costume ideas. However after about 2 days of going nowhere he had to admit, that he simply wasn't creative enough to come up with something on his own. Settling for an old horror movie mask his friend, who had called it “Ghostface”, had laying around, he packed up his stuff and left for Bell Reach, to potentially meet some Hero outfitters to help him with his costume. A goal he reached after another half year of making friends and discovering his love for everything ice-cream related.
Personality: Nathan is a very easy-going, care-free boy with a witty sense of humor. He tends to always have a stupid quip ready, even if it doesn't add anything to a conversation. He has a very kind heart and trusts people from the very beginning, which has caused him some trouble in the past, but has generally been a quality, that helped him make lots of friends. Having lost the only people he had in his life also made him very protective of said friends and he will hold the people close to him above anyone else. His social skills around women are basically non-existent however and he treads a fine line between treating them like dudes and stammering like an idiot, depending on the woman/girl in question.
Additionally due to his growing up on a farm he has learned the value of physical labor and, even though he can be lazy at times, he will not procrastinate things that need to be done. He loves listening to music on his phone while doing just about anything and can't keep himself from singing or rapping along at times. He has also become a really good skater and spends a lot of time on his board with his earbuds in his ears.
Nathan loves ice-cream, music and hanging around skate-parks or high-schools to meet new people and hear about the local problem and news. More than everything else however he hates ignorant, stuck up people that think their better than the “common folk”. He also hates carrots.
Skill-set:
- Extensive combat training: His great great granduncle taught him a number of techniques and styles over the course of the 8 years they spent together, including Karate, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and Taek-Won-do
- Survivalist: After a fight with his great great grand uncle Nathan stormed out into the woods once and survived a year in the woods by himself, proving his mastery of hunting and foraging. He had even build himself a crude little tree-house, but eventually they missed each other too much and bumped into each other, while being on their respective way to apologize to the other one.
- Physical strength: Nathan has enormous upper body strength and stamina due to a very strict regimen his “uncle” used to enforce upon him.
- Street smarts: Due to the 2 years he spent traveling across the US before reaching Bell Reach, Nathan has gathered some knowledge on the how too stay out of trouble on the streets. He even managed to gain some small fame by helping out some “friends” he had made there. In addition he picked up some fighting experience and training along the way, picking up street fighting, boxing, kick boxing and knife fighting from a number of less optimal encounters.
- Network of friends: Not so much a skill, but an asset he build up over his travels. Nathan has build a network of information within the youth-culture of the western US. He has a bunch of favors left to collect and a few very knowledgeable shady characters in his phone's contacts. At the same time they contact him whenever they are in nee of help as well, a call he'd never refuse due to his strong sense of trust and friendship. Powers:
- Physical Genius: Nathan might not be the smartest person by any means, but he is incredibly skilled in learning and adapting new fighting styles for himself. It might take more than one fight to get it down perfectly, but after a being exposed to a certain style for a while, will most likely lead to him becoming pretty good at it. This also had the strange side-effect of teaching him how to ride a skate-board, a bike, a surfboard and even a unicycle in record time, and made him a nightmare to play against in any sport. This didn't help him with his singing sadly, but he is convinced, that it's only a matter of time before he cracks that one as well.
- Shadow walking: A power, that Nathan manifested after the Boom. It enables Nathan to move in and out of shadows as if they were water. He can travel across shadows very quickly and soundlessly, however his eyes will shine yellow whenever he uses any aspect of his shadow powers. Besides his eyes however he is completely invisible and physically impervious to harm, the only drawback being, that he can only harm others in this state if he materializes, for example, his arms for a short instance. This sort of minute control can be hard for Nathan though, making it more of a stealth/ambush tool than a prolonged fighting strategy. Lastly, Nathan can shroud objects, clothes and even a person in shadow with him, but the more he takes with him the faster it drains him and it also significantly cuts down on the traveling speed he can muster.
- Shadow vision: A rather paradoxical name that Nathan came up with by himself to describe his ability to basically have perfect night vision while being in his yellow-eyed state.
- Shadow sense: Similar to Toph's tremor sense (avatar the last airbender), Nathan can feel and locate movement within the shadows he's connected to, making it a fantastic ability at night, when lights are dim and many shadows connect with eachother.
- Shadow control: The last shadow power, that Nathan just recently discovered and is pretty bad at using properly, allows him to change the shape of shadows he's currently connected to, making him able to connect them via small bridges or scouting ahead to cover an area for his shadow sense. This ability becomes increasingly difficult to use the more light the shadow would need to “travel” through.
Tools and Equipment:
- A Smartphone he carries around to be available at all times and earbud headphones to listen to go with it - A backpack with clothes, food and a tent to sleep in - A Skateboard he usually carried around on the side of his backpack, ready for quick deployment - The Pendant around his neck resembling a full moon with sun-rays around it
Additional Information: Nathan has a base level of education taught to him by his great great granduncle. He can read, write and do math, but had no proper understanding of modern sciences and technology until he came to the US-mainland 2 years ago.
Very interesting! Young, and maybe slightly illegal for him to take up “superhero” as an official job, but we’ll work with it. What he lacks in social development he makes up for in pure skill, though I’d imagine that he could draw a deep line in the sand if push came to shove.
Well, shit. Looks like Korkoa's nabbed up electrokinesis. I just finished my own character with electrokinesis, but I'm sure we both have different ideas in mind on how to play them.
Anyway, here's my completely confused and scared shitless electric dude.
Name: Jake Rosenberg Alias: Considering he's too busy trying to figure out what the hell is going on, it's safe to say coming up with a silly superhero name isn't on his mind. Appearance: Jake isn't a very remarkable man. He has close-cropped brown hair, brown eyes, a beard that's getting rather bushy, and fair skin. Not quite ugly, though not quite attractive; just plain. His height and weight are nothing to be awed by either, Jake standing at 5'10 and weighing 154 pounds. In terms of clothing, he usually dresses casually, a thin hoodie thrown over a t-shirt with jeans and sneakers completing the ensemble. Overall, an average Joe you'd pass on the street without a second glance. Picture for reference. Age: 25 Gender: Male Hometown: Seattle, Washington Biography: Jake Rosenberg's life story isn't the sort of thing you'd expect from a superhuman. He didn't have some great tragedy befall him; none of his family members got shot in a mugging, his girlfriend didn't get killed by the big bad guy, he didn't find out a family friend was a supervillain. His entire life was quite possibly engineered to be the blandest thing imaginable.
Jake comes from a middle class family, two-story-three-bedroom house, working dad, stay at home mom, older and more popular sister, golden retriever, the works. He wasn't an A student, didn't excel at any sports aside from doing track and field, and had a decent amount of friends. He graduated high school and didn't know what to do. Without much of a plan, he packed up his things and headed to Bell Reach to try and find what he should do with his life.
He ended up getting a part-time job at a movie theater while he tried to decide whether to go to college, find a better job, or just head back home and work at his dad's store like his father wanted him to. Eventually, his part-time job became full-time and before Jake knew it, he was 25, living in a mediocre apartment and making just above minimum wage. He was trapped in a rut, work work work and no time for anything else, no grand plans or anything. Something needed to happen.
And of course, that's when something finally did happen.
Two weeks back Jake decided to go for a run for the first time in ages. When he left it was noon, clear skies all around, but by the time he reached the warehouse district a mile from his apartment it was starting to rain. He decided to finish up at the edge of the warehouse district then turn back, when suddenly, a bright flash appeared before him. The next thing he knew, he was waking up in a hospital bed.
Once the doctors found that he was awake he was told that he had gotten struck by lightning and had been out for a week in a coma. They said that he wasn't badly hurt, but he would need to stay there a few more days so they could make sure he was alright. Three days ago he was released and went back to his usual routine... But something was different. He felt a spark of something within him.
Two days ago Jake accidentally fried his phone. Later that same day he ended up shocking himself when he grabbed his door handle. Yesterday he went into the bathroom after waking up and found that his hairs were standing on end, when he was at work he accidentally shut off the power for an hour. Last night he went up to the roof of his apartment building and tried to channel whatever this was... And ended up shooting out several arcs of lightning from his hands.
Since then, he's been terrified. Jake feels like he's finally starting to lose it. There's no way he's one of those super people that have been popping up these last few years... Right? Personality: Where Jake lacks in an interesting history or stunning looks, he continues to fall flat in terms of personality. He's not the most charismatic of individuals, being rather awkward and occasionally stumbling over his words. Jake is very polite, to the point that he's almost a complete pushover. And since the awakening of his powers, he's also been rather terrified, so much that it makes him more awkward than normal. He's been more prone to keeping away from people, out of fear he might hurt them. Skillset: There's not much to say about Jake's skills, the only notable thing being that he took track and field all throughout high school and as such is a bit faster than the average person. Powers: Electrokinesis - Ever since the incident happened, Jake has been able to generate lightning from his fingertips and manipulate it in interesting ways. He's been too scared to test his limits or experiment. He also finds that he's become rather intolerant of water, feeling a sharp jolt of pain every time he touches it, making showers difficult. Tools and Equipment: ... Does a wristwatch count as a tool? Additional Information: Speech color is PaleTurquoise. Jake can cook some good spaghetti. Theme Combat Theme
@unicorgihey, so the radical thing about the premise of this RP is that you literally don’t need any sort of impressive backstory or anything for your character. Anyone from anywhere can suddenly get powers and decide to use them, or in Tritus’ case, he has no desire to be a superhero at all, but just helps the people in his area. All the character really needs is the want to help, everything else will work out from there.
@unicorgiwell, what I mean to say is that they don't have to be tech geniuses or masters of something in order to have a place in this RP (A little odd considering that a lot of the characters ARE masters of their skills but there's a good narrative reason for it for Fringe) The point of the RP for the characters is for them to grow into heroes, even if in ways they didn't expect.
Though, that's not to say that having a character who got their powers the day the RP starts is a good idea. That would actually be a rather bad idea. Some experience, and the drive to want to do better. That's whatcha need.
