@Royaletutor59 That would work as well. The strongest impression of a person is usually what people remember first so, in Annabeth's case, it's his fighting ability and the fact that he survived. In the case of someone who arrived later it would probably have more to do with his surviving infection and delirium. It could also include rumors about him, either from those who saw him hunting enemies through the streets or from those who might be in-the-know about the death of his fiancé and her family.

A key part of any story is the difference in perspective between characters. I'm hoping to strengthen that a little by encouraging people to draw information from events that their characters did not directly witness but could have heard about, filtered by the opinions of others of course.

Understandable, I should’ve made it clearer that Hawk would’ve gotten the message within that week to give him time to leave town and head to the northern territories (it is certainly not close enough to make it within a days journey even at a forced march) and plus it wouldn’t really make sense for Tembrele, a town located to the far south of Elrad, to care about the orcs causing trouble at the northern border. The only orcs nearby were Malakaus and his allies and he left.

While character interaction is always good, don’t be afraid to have Skurr do his own thing too. Relying so much on others to go out of their way to do stuff with Skurr won’t end well when those same characters have their own problems they must face. I’m more than willing to accommodate responses, quests, and so forth for players who choose to do things by themselves.

@Lucius Cypher Yeah I was just playing it as he just got the message and he was recruiting some people from Tembrele to take with him to fight the Orcs in the northern territories. I can edit my post or keep it how it is either way Hark is leaving very soon.

Eh, as it is it’s vague enough that I could easily make up a new city for where he’d be at. Besides if you were still in Tembrele, there’s no way you’ll make it to the north anytime soon without your own timeskip, and I’d rather not have everyone operating in different days.

A journey to Tembrele to the furthest north would be two weeks on foot or five days on a horse, assuming a single break to rest and going at a steady pace. A larger group would move slower especially if they need their own supplies, and even the cheapest horse will be costly for your average peasant; a hundred gold coins for one strong enough for farm work, let alone the fast and well bred ones meant for war.

And unless I throw a big enough band of brigands or monsters who think they can take on a marching group of forty tough looking warriors (your dudes), you’ll likely be left alone by rabble. Safety in numbers after all. It’ll be a boring journey up north and again I’d rather not put you days ahead of everyone else just so we don’t have to deal with the tedium of your travels. It’ll be easier to assume you have already arrived further north by now.

@Lucius Cypher Sounds good to me I’ll be at a town only a days ride on horse from the my characters stronghold in the mountains and since I didn’t specify which town I was in I don’t have to change anything.

This Rp doesn't appear to be "Free". Advanced, sure, but not Free.

I’d hardly call use anywhere near advance. But we are Free, in the sense you’re free to write however much you want so long as it’s workable. Hell even CS’s is limited only to the theme of low fantasy, and beyond that mostly a formality so I have a name and face to associate with characters.

Helps that the GM has been missing from this Rp for over a month and a half, so inevitably there’ll be changes as I take up the mantle.

Not really, and neither does it matter. By being free people are free to write their post however they want. Whether it'd be at free quality or better. Ain't like I'm going to start punishing people if they want to write at an advance level or not.

Nothing along those lines. At the moment there are no wizards that are commonly known aside from those from fairy tales, or bed time stories about witches and their curses. And those stories aren't exactly mirror images of how magic will work in this verse. I would recommend that if your existence relies solely on an magic or sufficiently advanced technology, you should reconsider. If you want to be some sort of mage, you're free to pursue but that doesn't mean you attempts may go anywhere. I do have a magic system in mind, but it's not something known to anyone who isn't being kept within secret covens and cults.

I will, at some point in this RP's future, introduce magic and a magic system. But that won't be anytime soon, and I'll be the one to introduce it.

What exactly do you plan on this curse to do? Are ring wraiths suppose to be chasing him now?

Nah, more like calamity follows him around like a shadow. Wherever he goes, disaster is close behind. Whether it's sickness, war, famine, or just a loss of financial wealth, he can't escape his curse.

Yeah that's going to be a no dawg. Edgy, but at the moment there's already going to be plenty of sickness, war, and general chaos due to the fallacies of mortal nature. You don't need a curse to have everything go south, but at the same time I'd rather not let you have a curse just to excuse why things would suddenly go bad with no rhythm or reason. I've dealt with people with magical bad luck before, and rarely does it actually seem to bother anyone but players unfortunate enough to have to interact with them.

If you want to have a tragic backstory go right ahead. But you don't need a magical curse to make that happen and validate your suffering.
