@Smike@Stern Algorithm@Overlord Thraka@Aqutanama@Solaris@Rune_Alchemist@Random Kitty:

Fair warning to all once more - I don't want this to turn into an Isekai, so any characters who come from another universe are going to be prohibitively rare and if they are allowed, are going to suffer. A lot.

I did until the last few episodes. I have watched more than a few of the Isekai anime.

I know I have seen more but I'm too tired and lazy to list them all.

I see. I don't really like most Isekai works, as they waste perfectly good story ideas.

I think they work better for comedic purposes than actual drama. Scoobynatural is one example of what I think is great Isekai style works. Taking Sam, Dean and Cass from Supernatural, an already humorous and 4th-wall-breaking show, and then putting them inside a Scooby-Doo cartoon was genuinely hilarious

Player Faction: Alhryt-Liu Trade and Lending Company

Contact us for loan and slave appraisal

Founded a little over three centuries ago by a Tian and Xul, both immigrants to Venedig, the Alhryt-Liu Trade and Lending Company (better known simply as the Company) got its start in a modest stall in the Bazaar exchanging currency brought in by the hordes of travlers from all corners of the globe. The pair did well for themselves, making a modest amount of wealth before moving into money-lending and trading. They shipped wool and wine, swords and shoes, anything anyone needed to anywhere on Erde. The pair had been well-off before but now they were rich, both of them attracting good wives and making friends in the higher circles of society. By the time they retired the names Alhrty and Liu were respected in Venedig, known for being dependable and able to investments into steady profits.

As time went on trade and currency exchange took a backseat to moneylending which left the Company with a problem: what to do with people who defaulted on their loans? Sure they could confiscate property and what little money the debtor had but that was rarely worth much. Every time someone wasn't able to come up with the money the Company made a loss, an unacceptable turn of events. So fifty years into it's existence the Company jumped into what people were already doing: the slave trade.

It was simple. Once the time ran out on a contract the debtor was given a week to come up with the money or something of equal value. If they couldn't they forfeited their freedom. They were no longer people but property, a red mark in the ledge suddenly converted to an asset. If their body still couldn't cover the cost their meager belongings were taken as well.

Of course, many tried to run away from their debts but the Company quickly built a network of bounty hunters, trackers and thugs to return escapees. It is rare for someone to evade the Company for more than a month.

Jobs Offered
Trackers:People who specialize in find property that decides to run out on agreements. Consisting of a highly paid but relatively small professional core supplemented by temporary mercenaries and thugs. One time contracts pay well enough and contractors that do well are often offered a permanent job with good pay and benefits as well as a pension for next of kin if they die in the line of duty.

Traders: This refers to people that sell slaves as well as those who sell non-sentient property. There are always plenty of assets that need to be sold off and traders working for the Company can expect a 20% cut of every sale as well as plenty of stock provided to them for no charge.

Silencers:By far the smallest of the employee categories Silencers are the in-house spies and assassins used by the company in situation where it might be too awkward, expensive or simply not convenient to hire the Razors. Silencers are expected to keep a low profile but how they handle any particular job is up to them. Whether they kill a target with blade, poison, arrow or magic doesn't matter as long as they're discrete. They are only sent to to deal with things that pertain directly to the company such as bandits harassing caravans or slaves plotting rebellion. The Company never takes contracts as a matter of principle and a sense of politeness towards the Razors.

General Labor:The men and women who serve as general muscle for the Company. They serve as bodyguards for the traders and higher up personal and protecting caravans or bringing in debtors who ran out of time, run messages to the various offices in the city, take care of the horses and repair the wagons. They take care of all the small things that go into running a business that most people wouldn't even think. It's not exactly glamorous but the Company would fall apart without them. The largest subset of the Company, the vast majority of employees start here. They are free to apply for a shift to one of the other positions or might be offered one if they show impressive aptitude in a particular area.

I suppose it's more on the amount of lore. While I'm not shy of in depth lore, I've just gotten back into roleplaying and I fear my posts won't be lengthy enough, y'know?

I have to say, intriguing I decided to join this roleplay and I have already a little something to join with. My character and she's a mage by the way. It's pretty intriguing in how long it took to create this profile, only 8 hours in total. (8 hours ago to now) I'm back in making profiles again.

@Landaus Five-One, Anti-Mage feelings are seen as boorish and barbaric everywhere in the world, and Magic is revered as the gift of Existence/The Dragon's Tears/Xul's hard work in the major nations.

@Letter Bee It's a good thing her father is the last of the old traditionalists within the family since the old traditions were based in the past really far in the past like centuries old traditions that didn't change with the times of the Major Nations.

Raina on the other hand, was more in the know of the gifts of mages, which is why she didn't want her daughter to die for one and the other even though all family's are a bit 'enteric' thinkers. Raina's elder sister is a mage that heals the wounded and less fortunate.

Raina, Ethan and Fiona was playing along with the old dog that can't play new tricks ala Steven. Since Ethan isn't really using his equipment to fight mages more like protect them since he heard that protecting mages would pay more than hunting them down since that's against the nations rules. Ethan and Fiona learned the hundreds upon hundreds of traditions need to be changed so they can stopped being looked down upon for what their father and his ancestors caused them harm for so long. In terms of that single rule of 1 to 1 combat to the death with a child who's of their family. Steven retired his maul and went into a self-serving exile from his wife, and two children that still lives at the von Hammerwhirl rebuilt mansion. Because he learned he shouldn't have been so hard on Louise but was too much of a individual that couldn't believe any what thing the other families were trying to teach him that Mages and magic should be celebrated than what his family has done for generations. He gave the right of leadership to Raina, to change some of the more insane of his family's long list of traditions that aren't made for the present.

Louise knows nothing of this but her mother Raina would be a better leader of the family than her father since they constantly fought nonetheless. Because she wanted to leave the Estate. It's going to take about a long time until the von Hammerwhirl Family's traditions are completely different from what Steven was protecting for so long. But they are changing from their boorish behavior to a more acceptable apart of society as a whole. It was the reason why Raina gave her pendant necklace to her daughter so Louise could always remember the good times rather than the bad.

Venedig is 1000 years old and has been part of the Reich since its founding. The Reich itself is 2000 - 3000 years old. The tribal peoples who came before the Reich revered 'Gods' who were in fact Mortals empowered by Magic. Hatred for Magic is not a major thing in the world and would be seen as a form of madness.

It's all implied or even stated in the OOC OP, in the 'Reich des Goldenen Grahles' hider.

Edit: Okay, it's implied that the Reich lasted for a few centuries and not a millenium before the formation of the Great Inland Sea and the founding of Venedig. But there was still a full millennium after those events.

What you said specifically about a form of madness is very fitting for Louise's family traditions. It took the kindness of her mother to literally break the cycle they have been going on for basically 115 years since the creation of the traditions. Basically a mother outright wanting to protect her daughter to stop the crazy shit that's happening in the family so they would go back to their roots more or less. However, the dissolution of the traditions altogether will take two to three years with assistance of making sure this doesn't happen again.

The traditions before the 115 year mark in the von Hammerwhirl Family was basically similarly based around worshiping craftsmanship and how well they can make weapons/armor. But they slowly transited into something a bit different, which ended with Steven's departure ala, Mage Killers. Since he no longer wants to wield his great maul against a family member again, no matter if they are a mage or not. However, his children aren't corrupted by the traditions of the old since they were paying lip service to him. It didn't help the traditions primarily hurt the growth of Louise as a mage.

All her magic abilities are a bit uncontrollable because of her upbringing. Her elder brother Ethan and younger sister Fiona were definitely empathic to her plight of what their father put the family through. A literal madness amongst one of the family members. It shows that the von Hammerwhirl family is changing for the better and no longer going to use those traditions of madness. Since Raina didn't like them anyway. However, all family's have bad eggs? It just showed that Steven was a bit more stuck on the tradition without looking passed it. Even though the battle to the death was a thing back then but it was mainly for the son or daughter who could do a better job than the Father in terms of Leadership. It was a challenge basically to replace the father by battle to the death, which turned into that specific overwhelmingly cruel thing towards Magi.

Edit: The family traditions basically broke on Louise's 8th birthday because of her mother's kindness. Since that's when it was 115 years, however, her father tried to keep them going but failed pretty badly. Which is why he used the last resort of disownedment of his daughter, which is a 3 years wait.
