I went camping with my children this weekend. I used a cot and my light "summer" sleeping bag. It is about as thin as your favorite sweatshirt or the blanket you cuddle up with on the couch. Thirty years ago, I slept under the stars on the ground with my chemical protective mask serving as my pillow. Not anymore.

In a related vein to @Gunther's recounting, I have witnessed persons attempt to don protective masks without the filters, then question why they cannot breathe. For some reason one wonders why I haven't the highest of hopes or belief in humanity.

To add, my time in the gas chamber after we were ordered to remove our masks wasn't all that bad. Some people appeared to be dying, meanwhile I appreciated the clean sinuses.

On the other hand, being pepper sprayed nearly incapacitated me, but I managed to go through all the offensive/defensive fighting stations and aced it.

Depending on the timing, I should be facing the taser in roughly six months. Not looking forward to it.

I like it when my boyfriend randomly sniffs my hair in public. It's superbly awkward and makes me happy.

Happy is a five (5) letter word. ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ) n i f f n i f f

Yes, @Xandrya. I had snot hanging down to my belly button and I could not see with all the liquid in my eyes when I exited the gas chamber. That was a very unpleasant experience. But have you ever slept on your pro mask as a pillow? Not very soft.

In this vein, I too have been exposed to oleoresin capsicum sprays and unlike that of the aforementioned gas chambers too, it was significantly worse in every regard. It does create the appreciation of not being sprayed and the caution needed for its employment. As a bonus fact, I do indeed still have my card from that day.

@Gunther

I have not, but just last night I slept with hair rollers on and resting on my face wasn't all that comfortable. Using the mask does sound worse though.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity

I remember the day I was sprayed. The instructor was yelling in my face and I told him I couldn't see nor breathe and then he mentioned if I was talking I was breathing. Shut me up right away.

I prefer a woman with shape and style over stick figures as well.

I'm a stick figure with curves. Who knows how many times I went hungry as a child but my Cuban overlords didn't let me down completely. I'm also 5'0 and the amount of crap I get from my coworkers is insane, especially given our field.

I get really fucking defensive when people come for my friends. If you have a problem with them, you have a problem with me. #loyalaf #2forthepriceof1

I grew up with parents that lumped older R-rated films in with PG-13 ones.
(PG-13 was a new "in-tween" hard-R films and normie PG stuff... so my parents just retroactively lumped all the old soft-R films in the same group)
-So that meant Ghostbusters, CaddieShack, Aliens [in theaters], Die Hard, The Fly, Revenge of the Nerds, Police Academy, Dead Heat, Terminator, The Fog, The blob, ... etc... heck, anything and everything John Carpenter...

Watching unrated films when 7 years old was a bit of a coin-toss, though.

Long story short, if it was a saturday night movie, I could watch it if I could stay awake and quiet.

Staying completely motionless for the duration of the film was just a thing we did.

I saw my first scary movie when I was a preteen but it was an old movie with less gore and graphics compared to now.
either nightmare on elm street or Halloween. I forget which.

I gotta admit, I thought Nightmare on Elm was a comedy.
