Birth To High Cheung Jung-Soo and Cheung Do-Hyun were two hard working Korean-Americans. The two having moved from South Korea to America for Cheung Do-Hyun's job. Shortly after their move Jung-Soo fell pregnant with Ha-na. From the moment she was born, Ha-na was held to a high standard. Her parents wanting her to be successful in school and everything she does. In her first few years there was nothing of interest that happened. Upon school starting for her, she was expected to always get good grades so she did. She became very studious, Ha-na becoming the student that always won the spelling bee, the one who always raised her hand to answer the question in class. Not only was she very studious and smart when it came to school, Ha-na's parents wanted her to be skilled in an instrument so eventually she found she enjoyed the cello and thus began her path in music. She practiced daily and performed at recitals starting at the age of 10, having private lessons as well as being in the middle school's orchestra. Her studious nature and focus on school and music kept Ha-na from having many friends. Truly having more people who made fun of her or tried to take advantage of her. That was until she met Roxy in her late middle school years. Roxy pulled her into her friend group and never let her feel alone from that day forward. Nor did Roxy let Ha-na have a boring high school life. Roxy is also the one that got Ha-na going by simply Hana, simple but small change. |
High School High school for Hana was mainly studying and cello practice or performing. She took the hardest classes she could and got the best grades she could. She was first seat in the school's orchestra and rarely, if ever had a sick day. The only reason she had friends was because of Roxy, honestly sometimes she questioned if the others even liked her or not. But she enjoyed being around the others when she was dragged away from her studies tohang out with them. They provided a good escape and support when it came to her parents. Her parents really tripled down on the pressure of success when Hana got into high school. They wanted her to become a doctor or lawyer, something rich and successful. She wanted to become a musician, she wanted to go to Julliard and they wanted her to go to Harvard. It was a constant strain on their relationship. She almost gave up her dream if it hadn't been for Roxy pushing her to apply for Julliard shortly before the deadline. Thanks to her she was accepted, thanks to Roxy she was able to follow her dream. |
| Beyond High School Post-Graduation Hana left Gattling and moved to New York City to attend Julliard School. Her parents and her became estranged for the first year of her college life as they didn't approve at first, but when they came and saw her perform at the end of her first year and saw just how talented she was and how much passion she held for performing and playing the cello they saw they were in the wrong. The family healed and her parents began to support her fully. As far as others from Gattling, the only one she still was in contact with was Roxy. She couldn't not stay in contact with her as she was the one who she had to thank for getting her where she was practically. Hana would make sure to contact Roxy at least once every six months to Facetime or Skype and catch up. In Hana's second year, she met her future husband, Nang Tae-Yeon, a student in his second year at the Fordham University of Law. Once the two of them graduated they both moved to Chicago together where Tae-Yeon got a job as Lawyer and Hana joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. At 23 and 26 the two of them got married. The two were in love and truly couldn't be any happier. Life for them was perfect until the fateful day when it no longer was. Not long after the two had found out Hana was pregnant she had a miscarriage. Upon seeing a doctor, she found out that it would be hard and dangerous for her to carry a child. At first the couple was devastated and Tae-Yeon was a supportive and loving husband, but when he wanted to keep trying for a child and Hana was too scared, that is when their marriage began to fall apart. He grew cold and distant, verbally, mentally, and emotionally abusing her as well as cheating on her without even trying to hide it from her. She couldn't divorce him though as no one knew of all that was happening plus he was threatening her as he didn't want his image ruined. |
Current Hana has taken some time off from the Orchestra to come back to Gattling for the funeral. She can't help but beat herself up wondering if she could have done better and helped Roxy in any way. She did still keep in touch with her every six months, sometimes it was a bit longer but it was always at least once a year. Roxy had been in her wedding and Hana had been in hers and visited when she had her daughter. Hana still didn't feel she was a good enough friend. Her guilt only was made worse when Roxy's family asked her to perform at the funeral, she of course said yes. Only one song though as she didn't think she could handle more than one. As far as it goes with Tae-Yeon, she is happy to be out of their penthouse apartment and away from prying eyes interested in his life as he is currently running for Governor. Her own career was being affected by the stress of her personal life so getting away even if it is for such a sad reason is needed. So she is back, alone, much different than she was the last time she was here. |
Warning, her history looks weird if you don't have your browser maximized... I struggled a long time with it and gave up on trying to get it to look good in multiple views
"Hana is practically in love with studying and her cello. Dragging her to hangout was always hard in high school. She definitely looked the role too, but have you seen her now. She had a glow up, that's for sure. Not to mention she's following her dream! Couldn't be prouder!"

December 12th, 2004:Dear Diary,
A new student just enrolled and is now in my first period English. His name is Ravi, which after some research I’ve found to mean “Sun God”. Pretty cool huh? Rumor has it that he was adopted from a place called Himachal Pradesh, India. None of the other students seem to want to talk to him… They keep whispering about his supposed “weird” accent and dark skin… I mean, I know this is a small town filled with hicks but, it saddens me to see that racism is still present in today’s society. To be honest, I think there is more to him that meets the eye… Personally, I could always use some more friends in my life. What do you think Diary? Should I sit with him at lunch?

☼ Clowns-Birth to High School-Ravi had been born and raised in an Indian province known as Himachal Pradesh. At the time he and his parents barely had a rupee to their name. In an effort to give their son a better life, his mother thought it would be best for Ravi to be adopted into an American family. Once the paperwork had been signed and everything was made nice and legal, Ravi headed out to Gatling Texas to meet his new family, the Callums. The couple who had taken him in had been in their 40's. Don Callum spent his days as a court judge specializing mainly in civil dispute cases. His wife Martha was a part time librarian who also took care of the house. After almost two decades of trying, they had given up on the idea of having their own children. Instead, they thought it would be best to adopt a child from an impoverished nation.-High School-In the middle of the school year Ravi was enrolled in the Gatlin West's School System. His first year of middle school would consist of all the necessary courses one would take, but all his electives were remedial in an effort for him to adjust in his new setting. At first the transition was pretty hard on him. Personality-wise, Ravi had always been a quiet child. He believed words held power and that one should be wise when using them. That, and the fact that he was still trying to perfect his English caused him to be an easy target among bullies. It seemed to be an easy way for the big, dumb, brutes to build their self esteem. With the sorrow of saying goodbye to his biological family mixed with his inability to fit in, Ravi began to lose all hope toward his new future in America. As a way to have an outlet for the constant onslaught of negativity, Ravi would frequently write poems and short stories as a way to channel his anger. Out of all the subjects he had studied, he was most fascinated with English. Probably because he saw mastering it as a way to master communication. It wasn't until Roxanne took the courage to sit with him at lunch that he started to think differently. Students went out of their way to ostracize him, yet she didn’t seem to care.-High School and Beyond-That day at lunch seemed to have change his life forever. As more time went on with Roxy by his side, more people seemed to back off and even start to be nice to him. Once Freshman year came around, puberty hit, and Ravi seemed to be getting even more attention. Especially from the female population of the class. The Gods seemed to favor him by blessing him with rugged good looks. A lot of students began to find his quiet nature mysterious and intriguing, but of course, that was after he started to gain popularity. Out of all the romantic offers he had received over the years there was only one woman who had truly captured his heart. An angel. Someone who had loved him even at his worst. She saved his life in a way…
In Sophomore year he let his feelings be known by writing her a poem about the effect she had on him. He recited it to her one night when they broke into the football field to stargaze. After heartfelt tears and a long embrace their relationship had begun. The two were inseparable over the years not only as best friends, but with what seemed to be the perfect couple. It wasn’t until the night of their graduation party that he had caught her sleeping in another mans bed. Not just any male either, a mutual friend of theirs. Heartbroken, he left her without another word. Ending their relationship until the day she died.-Current-Unable to cope with his loss among familiar surroundings, Ravi moved to Seattle Washington to sign with a publisher and begin his career. His days were filled with book signings, tours, writing, story boards… but always he would think of Roxanne.
Years had passed, and even though she was always on his mind, his pride stood in the way of them ever reuniting. It wasn’t until he received the letter of her passing that his world truly shattered. Numb and unsure of what to do, he traveled back to the town he had abandoned almost 10 years ago to attend her funeral.

I was thinking the same thing!
It's a perfect relationship link too~
Maybe the two characters sat next to each other in the high school orchestra? Seeing as how they are both in the same section.

That sounds perfect, although I hope you don't mind I already wrote in Hana's bio she had first chair. I can change that if you'd like me too, wasn't expecting her to have competition lol

@BrutalBxRoxanne’s Journal Entry: Another night where she's sleeping over. I wish I could make things better for her. All I can do is provide her a bed when she feels like running away. Oh and waffles for dinner. You can never go wrong with waffles. Nellie has so much heart, even if she hides it behind insults and that god awful attitude. Maybe, one day, we'll run away together. And maybe, one day, I can help teach her how to be a lady. I love her to death but the way she acts now we'll only hurt her in the long run. It's okay to be vulnerable, Helena.

He killed her and no one can convince Helena Perfect otherwise. Vivian's words of surrender meant nothing to him when he slammed her against the wall. "Don't hurt my mommy!" Slap! "Don't fucking touch her!" Her memory came and went in bits and pieces. Flashes. Her mother shielded her, as he threw fist after fist. Then, after he was satisfied, the steam left from his body and Edwin snapped back to his senses. The act continued. She covered her bruises, scars, and flaked make up with a smile. No one suspected anything. They were a Perfect family. An upcoming Construction Manager, a florist for a wife, and three children. Two sons and a daughter. Conrad, Eugene, and Helena. That is until Vivian couldn't handle the weight of the family anymore and 'accidentally' drove herself into the river.
With no mother to protect her anymore, Nellie had to learn to take care of herself at a young age. Her brothers sure as hell wouldn't take care of her. They were already showing mannerisms of their father, using their dominance and stupidity to control her every move. As if having her father as her 'keeper' was enough, she had two dip-shits keeping tabs on her too, like they owned her. She couldn't go to sleepovers. She couldn't stay out too long. She couldn't participate in many clubs. She couldn't have an inkling of enjoyment without making them dinner first. This life wasn't going to cut it and even if she ended up dead like her mother, she was going to live the life she wanted.
When she was in sixth grade, two years after her mother's passing, her walls were breached by Roxanne "Roxy" William and her perspective on life changed, even if she couldn't easily let the anger dissipate. Together they figured out ways to spend time with one another even if it meant Roxy had to slip into Nellie's room and when an unwanted visitor came in, hide under the bed or in the closet. This daring wildfire became the most important person to her. Her best friend.✖ 4𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻Her highschool years were basically a fuck you to the world. She acted out. Got into fights. Got punished for tainting her father's name. Ran away from home. Got punished when she was caught. Slept around. Got punished for the rumors. Found and bought things for cheap and sold it for a higher price. Got punished for that. Nellie's restlessness was unbearable and to her small town of judgmental prats, she gained the reputation for being a flaming bitch and a fucking disrespectful delinquent. "Oh Edwin, your sons are the prime example of what men should be in this society. Make sure to give this pie to them. I know Conrad loves my pies especially. Your daughter on the other hand..." Nellie was the Raging Bull of the Century. Oh and one of her favorite names: a Cock-biter. That rumor still lives on.
Death can be a blessing or a curse. Her mother's death was a curse. But her father's death? Godsend. There was a construction accident just a little after her 18th birthday. Most people would get terrified of what to do, how they were going to succeed and get a proper education. Nellie? She was preparing for this moment since the day she lost her mother. She already got accepted to the college of her desire, Berkeley, with basically a full-ride scholarship. She saved as much money as she could so that she could afford to move out of this shithole. And she had no one holding her back. Her brothers were upset when they found out that their father left her a portion of his life insurance. In a weird, fucked up way, he loved her - she guessed. But they were going to make sure they had everything else that he didn't specify in the will. The house, his car, his savings. She told them fine - but unbeknownst to them, she made sure she took everything that was left from her mother, with her. And in their minds, their mother was their father's property. She counts that as a win. You'd think her childhood would've been the years that broke her, but it was actually her adventures in college pursuing accelerated classes for both her bachelors and masters in social work. She rarely had free time. When she wasn't working, she was writing papers and making sure she kept her GPA at a 3.8 or higher. Ideally, she aimed for a 4.0. She doesn't know how it happened but she met a man and fell madly for him. Nellie wasn't going to let that compromise her studies and he knew that. Fortunately, he was pursuing a similar career path, specializing in child psychology, so they made the most of the little time they had. He'd visit her while she waited at the diner. She'd visit him while he broke down from stress, gifting him with his favorite candy bar. They'd visit each other late at night and they'd take a moment to breathe, eat Chinese take out and just hold one another. He actually didn't want her for sex and that made her feel... different. They met during the day at the library between classes to do homework together. This man softened her heart and showed her that there was beauty in life. It may be simply in the little things, but it was there. He was there and thanks to him, she had a reason to believe that everything she wanted to achieve was worth it. That living was worth it.
That is until he had to take a long break from his studies due to personal family issues, and for her sake, he chose to end their romantic relationship and 'just be friends'. Eventually, she found out that she made him realize that he was gay. So, she decided that focusing on herself and her child welfare goals, with plenty of experience in fieldwork and constantly aiming to protect children from deplorable situations would be a priority. Becoming emotionally attached to someone, though, causes some of the worst pain when you lose them.It didn't take long for her to join an agency in California and show them her worth. Her first job was a social worker in the foster care system. While school provided her with the knowledge and tools she needed, hands on experience exposed her to the challenges of her field and how hard it was to see so many vulnerable families. When she turned twenty six, she found her niche in Child Protective Services.
Her life was constantly on the go, rarely did she look back to her past, though her and Roxy did keep in contact. Their communication started decreasing the more successful Nellie became. And then Roxy died. When Helena thought she finally was over terrible things, it punched her again, but this time in the worst way possible. Through her best friend. Although Helena constantly battles fits of anxiety, loneliness, and being hard on herself, nothing compares to the feeling of losing someone you loved with more heart than you realized you had.
y'all got room?
