Are you a fan of fantasy settings that feature powerful magic? What about Dark Souls levels of danger and despair? If so, then "Exalted - Fall of Creation" might be right up your alley.
Creation is in tatters. All that remains is the Blessed Isle. The Deathlords and Fair Folk have taken it all from us. Some say we are lucky to have the isle, and they are right. Yes, the Blessed Isle is massive in its own right. But... but it is nothing compared to what Creation once was. I am glad to be here and alive, of course. That said, I miss the grand elder forests of the east. I weep for the lost rolling deserts of the south. I pine for the hauntingly beautiful ice fields of the north. I never saw the grand coasts of the western islands, but I am told they were incredible.
In any case, people today often barely remember how things were then. Some drink the memories away. Others block it out. Some unfortunate souls literally cannot remember due to shock or trauma. And of course there are young children who simply were not alive before the war.
Still, life finds a way. People have rebuilt, for the most part. Farms, cities, businesses, families... if you didn't know any better, you might even think everything was back to normal. Sadly, I fear that is not the case. So very few of the Exalted remain today, and those who do remain simply cannot protect everyone. Sure, the Dragon-Blooded are no longer trying to murder the Solars. Shame there are only a few Solars left now, though. But I digress. With so few Exalted remaining, the rumors I hear are that much more frightening. Some say war is coming to our last bastion of society. If that is true, then all might be lost unless drastic measures are taken.
Hmm?
Where do you come in, you ask? Well, I would think that is up to you to decide. After all, you know yourself far better than I ever would. What is your story? Are you a simple farm hand, caught up in this whirlwind of chaos? Perhaps a guardsman trying desperately to maintain your stoicism in defending your home? What about a shopkeeper just trying to get by? Tell us, please. Great things come in all shapes and sizes, after all.
The world of Exalted is a rich and detailed one, and it would be far too much to expect folks to learn every nuance of it just for an RP. So I will be simplifying a few things. One major change is the removal of any and all dice mechanics from the original pen-and-paper origin of the setting. Those tend to translate poorly into play-by-post RP, after all. As such, many of the special abilities players will eventually gain will also be simplified.
There will be a lot of information available once the OOC is up and running (if there is enough interest, that is) for players to make use of. Everything from creatures to items to magical terms to notable people and places.
You will not begin with any special powers, however. You will be, for lack of a better description, an NPC. A normal person going about their day. Things won't be peaceful for long, though... of that, you can be certain. So what say you?
"If you are ever at the mercy of another, pray to whatever deity you believe in, that he is a bad person. A bad person will want to take it slowly, enjoy his power over you, which would give you at least a chance for comeback. A good person will simply kill you without any mercy. Because he would not enjoy what he is about to do, he will do it as quickly as possible." - Unknown
