fuck, I'm sure we lost half our team to the load times, motherfucking, maybe I should open the shutters and let people reserve characters that Zelta can try to recruit later on or something.

Maybe a bit too low activity. I should be the motherfucking, one shaking the bake. after all I am the cook.

What do you guys say we do some simulations?

I'll do a little OOC game where you all answer to a ship scenario I propose. Those that get the most right answers win an in game prize at the end.

I'll throw in some class specific questions from time to time to just to mix it up a little.

If you guys are down, just, motherfucking, tick my mention and crackle the comms.

I thought we were just waiting for the Captain to choose a destination? If it is a voting thing, then I'm afraid Jackie's just gonna abstain again. He only takes the initiative in a few select sorts of situations - fighting, chatting people up, and probably bed.

Nah,brother. I mean as a OOC game. To practice for the chaos to come and shake the soda in the soul a little since things a,motherfucking, bit low in the frame rate.

@Starlance@Bazmund@datadogie@Voltus_Ventus

Let's start with a warm up one.

The goal of all the questions is to survive or prevent any danger the scenario presents to you.

Do not use any data you have in your PM for classes as such data may be exclusive to you for a reason.

ATHEM

SCENARIO 1

You are a: Normal human crew member on a standard non-descript medium sized ship. You know this ship is carrying massive amounts of pure oxygen to one of the authority stations.

One day a fire breaks out in the storage area while you are busy filling up smaller oxygen tanks for space suits from some of the extra storage. Several oxygen tanks are knocked over in a panic, spreading the fire aggressively, walling off any retreat into the ship.

What do you do?

Well, first thing you do in any sort of scenario like that is probably pull the fire alarm to alert the rest of the crew to the danger. The fire is burning in a high oxygen environment though, which means it's burning hot, and that we don't have much time. If there's fire extinguishers on hand then that's an obvious choice, but fire on starships needs to be treated especially aggressively so I would consider venting the room into space. I'd prefer to have respirator mask for this part of it (though the vaccuum of space would still fuck me up) or if the spacesuits are present rather than just their o2 tanks then I'd put one of them on before the venting took place, but human beings can survive the vaccuum of space for a little while and in any case the fire will kill me anyway.

In short, pull the alarm and activate any built in fire suppression, equip vaccuum protection, vent the room. Failing all else, I can use the O2 tanks I've been filling as a personal supply of oxygen when the room is vented, though at that point it'll be the negative pressure that is the true danger.

Exhale during decompression, lads, or your lungs will burst and you'll die of massive pulmonary emboli.

"Alert whoever's on watch to the fire, get into a sealed sompartment such as another section of the storage bay or a dedicated pressure shelter if present, and vent it to space, wouldn't count on fire retardant where O2 tanks are part of the equation. Give it time to cool down before reintroducing atmsphere.

As for venting the room while I'm there, I'd rather not. Even with a rebreather, vacuum does nasty things to a Human body, and without an air supply, you'll be unconscious in ten and dead in ninety or so seconds. If a suit utilizing high-pressure breathing mix is present, I'd pass unless I absolutely can't get out of the room, as those are rigid or semi-rigid suits that take a while to put on. Going straight into a suit using low-pressure breathing mix without an hour or so of pre-breathing said low-pressure mixture would give me a nasty case of 'The Bends', also known as 'Diver's Disease', but that takes time to kill you, so such a suit could work. Low-pressures suits are soft or skin-hugging, therefore much faster to put on, too.

The small tanks I'm filling up are stated to contain pure O2, which would either:
- Cause oxygen toxicity and kill you at normal atmospheric pressure.
- Cause The Bends anyway at low ressure. I'm assuming this would be the case, as they are stated to be for use in space suits." - Astrid
Still here, just waiting to be told where we're going.

The pure oxygen coming out of the cylinders would be exceptionally dangerous if it meant you inhaled pure oxygen, but even trauma masks in hospitals can only get up to about 80% inhaled oxygen. The bends, yeah, but it's that or die in a fire, and I don't trust the Authority to have accessible sealed compartments either, I'm taking this to be a sorta 'what is described is pretty much all you can rely on' sorta situation.

Still here, just waiting to be told where we're going.

Right now, Voltus is killing chornus with the Kindred so he's been kidnapped from the keyboard a,motherfucking, bit. So we're giving him some oxygen of his own while he get his chords in tune. It's a big decision deciding where we-I mean you will all die.

It's been a bit lull but I'll institute a post by date rule after we launch. No callous to voltus to that. I was slow posting myself a couple of times myself. I'll try to speed up in accordance to post limit myself. Right now we're it's all laughs at morbidity in OOC while we wait.

Excuse the lack of radiowaves, my,motherfucking, void frolickers. I got a bit gravity compelled in the moods and couldn't find the dopamine to reactive my tapping frequencies.

Alright. I'll do the second simulation now. This one will be for real. Also, Starlance won the test round.

The goal of all the questions is to survive or prevent any danger the scenario presents to you.

Do not use any data you have in your PM for classes as such data may be exclusive to you for a reason.

YOU ARE A: engineer in a space suit currently attached via an air life line to the ship.

You are outside the back repairing a dent in the thrusters side where for some unknown reason the ship engages full speed. luckily the intense forces pushes you so far back that the burst of the thruster flames don't touch you or your life line, but you are left hanging like a tail. You have A COMM LINK to command. A welder/plus wlder fuel within and a small air pressure gun.

You know that if you remain in this position when the ship slows down you will either thrust forward into the ships thrusters and incenerate or it will stop too fast and you hit the ship with such momentum that you dill surely die of bruises and suit ruptures.

What do you do?

@ScreenAcne Is the ship continuously accelerating or has it reached a steady speed?

@Bazmund

It's currently at max speed in the moment where you can act in the scenario.

"Assuming I was for some reason working on a thruster I didn't disable beforehand and that the sudden acceleration doesn't kill me, I'll send a very impolite and probably extremely terrified message to C&C. They can't help me fix the problem if they don't know there is a problem. Best case scenario would be to cut forward engines without applying braking thrust, as that would let me pull myself back to the ship via the tether or use the air gun like a thruster to propel myself back. For extra safety, I could use the air gun to move from behind the ship' silhouette. That way, if breaking thrust is applied, I'll be clear of both the engines and the hull itself, saving me from getting incinerated or smeared across the hull.

If the ship must for some reason maintain constant acceleration, then I might still be able to use the air gun to move myself from behind the ship. This is a longshot, as the ship's constant acceleration would try to keep me in the 'starting' position. As long as the ship remains under constant thrust, I see no reliable way out of this mess." - Astrid
EDIT: And of course further instructions come just as I post (Ain't no 'max' speed in space :))

That's true.

But the ship is as fast as it go. I guess it's always accelerating, isn't it because it's still applying thrust.
