@jetipster The ages for the characters are 17-24, so if you could just bring that down for me a bit, you're good to go to move him over to the CS tab!
Feel free to join the Discord as well. ~

@HaleyTheRandom Thank you! :) I'll get him and Gen moved over to the character tab. Can't wait!
If this ever opens back up, I’d love to come back with Dom and Anton! Sorry that I missed applications lol I’m a silly person who doesn’t check the guild enough when I’m not actively in a roleplay. Anyway, hi, I’m here lurking! Love y’all.

――――――――――Zheng is a man of many masks yet few words. Outwardly he projects a sense of refinement and highborn sophistication; a gentleman who appreciates the finer things in life with an air of superiority. He can quote poetry and books, write fine calligraphy, knows enough about wine to be a decent sommelier and can carry conversations of philosophy, history and other lofty intellectual topics at length.
Beneath this is however, is a sort of cold, ruthless cunning driven by ambition and want. His two greatest sins are likely that of pride and envy in equal parts as he feels a need to constantly prove himself. He knows exactly what he wants and he cares little for how he get it. Some who have had the misfortune of seeing this side of him have noted how cruel and sadistic he can be but this isn't quite true. While yes he can easily seem pathetic and sadistic, he doesn't derive anymore pleasure from his plotting and scheming any more than one does swatting flies. Famously stoic and enigmatic, Zheng is infamously hard to read as he conceals both his emotions and his many secrets extraordinarily well.
Zheng takes his duties very seriously and finds himself above such things as social media and other "distractions"; the very nature of his job also prefers that he stays out of sight and out of mind as much as possible. He has managed to get more people killed, injured or detained through words than his own hands, but not for a lack of trying. He knows that some, if not many, consider him a villain to some degree but Zheng doesn't care much for it and has even used his reputation as leverage. To him, the world is but a great game of chess and while he is no grand master player, he will ensure that he will stand atop it all when it is all over.

――――――――――According to official records, Zheng was born a relative of the Mei Clan and was sent through a normal noble path through the army. He made friends, he did well in school, he was given a commission in the Imperial Army and now serves as a Captain for the 54th Mechanized Infantry Brigade. A fairly normal, mundane history with an under tone of duty and service. A history that is of course, a lie.
In truth, Zheng was indeed a relative of the Mei clan, but distant and lack any of the frills of nobility growing up. He lived among commoners, collected firewood and did odd jobs for money and went to a public school where he made few friends yet always seemed to know what was going on. He knew how Xi was planning to break up with Ling, how Yue cheated on tests, why Huang was really absent from school. He never made a big deal out of his blood, but the rigors of living a poor life in a remote village taught him the value of hard work and that destiny must be sought after by any means necessary.
He was put on the radar when he got into a scuffle with another student that ended up in both of them going to the hospital with criminal charges being threatened. During this, word had finally reached the Emperor Ming that one distant relative was in trouble and asked what to do. Upon looking into the young Zheng Hu some more, he saw a spark of potential in him and had him bailed out, using some funds to move the capital and transferred into a private academy.
At the academy, Zheng remained his elusive and distant self while still somehow knowing what everyone was up to at all times. Now close within his personal observations, the Emperor felt as if his judgement was correct, Zheng was different than his peers. The boy took quickly to lessons of manners and etiquette and proved to be quite social when he opened up. Graduating with full honors, Zheng enlisted to an officer's training school where he focused his studies on intelligence gathering and information sciences.
Through the renewed assistance of the Emperor, Zheng found himself working under the tutelage of the head of Section 4 of the Office of Military Intelligence, the one whose sole focus was on external and foreign affairs. Again, he proved himself quite capable, so capable that when the previous head of Section 4 died of a sudden heart attack and left in his will that Zheng should take over, no one spoke out. No one who knew better than to try and call it out at least.
As with much of OMI, his records are unsurprisingly lacking and mostly empty although one notable thing that happened is, out of the many enemies he's made, one has stuck around. A woman named "Black Lilly" had made multiple attempts to either kill or hinder Zheng as he did the same, yet the two formed a sort of respect for each other that became much more intimate than you'd expect. This fling didn't last long, it never could, but to this day, Zheng still fondly refers to Black Lily as an "enemy with benefits". As he often jokes "I'm expecting a love letter death threat and an assassin at some point; its how I know Black Lily cares."
The story of how he lost his arm is a much more recent affair. With rumors of King Nikolas of the Koingsreich making moves to annex try and annex Liang filtering in, Zheng set out to make sure this wouldn't happen. With his network and informants and agents, he proved to be quite the thorn in the side of the Reich that his demise was deemed a threat to the Reich. Officially, he lost his arm when overseeing a military training exercise and a faulty grenade detonated close to him. A faulty grenade thrown by some armed foreign "envoys" dressed in black. During a very, very realistic training exercise that just happened to be near a frontier intelligence outpost.
Since this event, Zheng has redoubled his efforts to secure Liang from anything he deems a threat. Now, more than ever to him, the ends are the only things that will matter.
