We will be going by character arcs and story. If you want your character to die or I think a character death to add something to the story, talk to me or visa versa. By all means though, if you want side characters or back up characters on stand by then by all means go ahead

Seeing Human, fae, or dwarf, I was sort of hoping that this would turn out to be a little more "desert" centric kind of fantasy spiel. So I think I'm gonna back out on that. Sorry.

@Guardj It is your call. There are more races but Sando is occupied by mankind, fae, and dwarf. I am happy to include more races if you have something in mind

Strong chance I will do just that, unless they change their mind of course. Ping me when an OOC goes up!

The concept is pretty interesting and got me thinking up some questions regarding the lore:

1. How much does the general public know about the Makers? Are they an active, unseen force, and do they govern any territories? Do they hold any influence over how magic is used in this world?

2. How long ago was it since the ancestors migrated to these lands? Also, did they do a Noah’s Ark kind of thing and try and bring animals, seeds and stuff, with them?

3. Is the Conduit at a sacred known location, or is it buried in the sand like a lost artifact?

4. Are there any preexisting natives that were born there, unlike the ancestors?

5. What’s the technology like in association with magic, and magical artifacts? Are there airships, vehicles, etc.?

6. Is there a standard currency?

That’s all I can think of for now!

Letting someone else take one of the other the 'main character' roles, instead of myself, I think would be more prudent at this point. I am sorry, I guess I got this more sort of Egyptian fantasy vibe, just hearing of the desert setting. Animal headed super beings, sphynxs as a thing, basically i was just inserting fantasy ieas *I* had into something else, and that's not appropriate. So it would be better to let those who won't try to make the idea into something that isn't your own.

Excellent questions!

1. The general public knows very little of the Makers. They know that many of the artifacts in the deserts are Maker made, the cities some live in were once home to the Makers, and they know they were very powerful. Past that, they know nothing and revere them as gods. As for their influence, they have none that can be seen or measured but who's to say what the Makers influence and what they don't, for no one has truly seen the Makers since the Exodus some 10,000 years ago.

2. The Exodus occurred roughly 10,000 years ago. Mages and druids did bring animals and food native to the homelands but many simply couldn't survive the desert conditions. Horses for instance aren't practical transportation due to the fact it's too damn not and too damn hard to keep them alive so they died out. However, through clever magic and some ingenuity many crops from the old world can still grow and many livestock can survive as well

3. The Conduit has been lost to the sands of time. Many mages and engineers hunt for it in hopes they can study it and perhaps send expeditions back to the homelands but alas no one is alive that can remember where it is

4. Yes, oh god yes. There are 2 big ones: Gleekon and Skavvers. Gleekon are a reptilian race of tribal raiders. Gleekon can range in size and shape from one another similarly to humans but gleekon are always reptilian humanoids and always ill-tempered. Many aren’t very intelligent and those that are intelligent often become tribal chiefs, though usually through brute strength rather then intelligence. These tribes can range in size from a few hundred gleekon to tens of thousands. These tribes often wander the deserts and wage war with the dwarves more often than not. The dwarves and humans particularly hate the gleekon as they often disrupt established trade routes and can cripple cities for weeks if not months. It isn’t known roughly how long gleekon live due in large part to the gleekon often dying from killing one another or from the constant wars they wage.

Skavvers are an insectoid race of scavengers that have an obsession with Maker artifacts. While not as hostile as gleekon, they aren't exactly friendly either. If they think you have something they want, they'll kill you. However, they are willing to barter so long as you have something of worth. Skavvers mostly keep to their hives. Imagine termite mounds but big enough for flying humanoids. When they go out, it's to scavage for whatever they can find.

5. Without magic, it depends on who you go to. Dwarves have made many achievements using steam and coal. They have developed mining equipment that allows for better material faster, developed steam powered battle wagons to fight the gleekon, and with magic have even developed steam powered automatons. Black powder weapons exist but like muskets, they aren't very effective or accurate. Powerful at close range and as an explosive however, not to mention as cannons for the sprawling cities. As far as vehicles though, nothing that can conquer the sands effectively. Transportation still generally consists of the native Boga: basically overgrown quadrepedal lizards with feathers, beaks, sharp talons, and an ability to scale canyon walls.

6. There is a standard currency. It ranges from highest to lowest: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Copper. 50 coppers = 1 silver, 50 silver = 1 gold, etc. Think of it like this: 100s, 50s, 10s, 1s

I was also under that assumption, though the current setting interests me as well. Still, if you change your mind and want back in, no hard feelings here, just thought I'd let you know that.

Wow, thank you for the quick and detailed response! I like the natives you described. I was thinking of coming up with a reptilian race, but looks like you got that covered. So, just confirming: Boga are the main source/only source for ground transportation, and there are no airships?

@Guardj Don’t see why Egyptian-influenced locations wouldn’t be welcomed. I figured the look of the rp would have an aesthetic variety inspired by Egypt, Persia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan etc., and just so happens to have dwarves and fae.

No problem! There is a lot of Middle Eastern architecture I have envisioned for the Maker cities and culture. Maker vaults for instance are essentially massive black pyramids made from metal

@LordOfTheNight I'm totally okay with a more detailed one - it's a better representation and stuff. Obviously it probably own't be the end all be all, but it'll help others understand what our characters can and can't do, right?

I’m all for a detailed cs but how in depth with stats would you plan to take it?
