The short list of what Luna genuinely enjoys is quite small due to the fact that she dislikes most things. But things she values include a silent room, cooking, a good novel, and a glass of wine or whiskey. She also doesn’t mind hobbies that doesn’t involve others such as a solitary stroll through the woods, watching an old film, managing her wares, and cleaning. Luna will tolerate and participate in a public event or conversation if she think she has to but it in no way means she likes such things and she will coyly remind people of this fact if they attempt to pursue her.
D I S L I K E S
Luna actively dislikes most things – the world, the village she’s stuck in, corporations, nosy people, happy people, people in general, people who want things, and really anything that isn’t a good book and drink. While one might think this isn’t appropriate for someone who runs a general store, Luna doesn’t exactly have much for competition so people who want to buy something from out of town sort of have to go through her and she forced to put up with their incessant demands.
D O Y O U B E L I E V E I N M A G I C ?
Luna doesn’t doubt that a stupid village like Root River is also a cursed village. In fact, given some of the occurrences over the years she definitely believes the universe has a hilarious obsession with Root River. However, despite not doubting the existence of such forces of nature, she really doesn’t care. For her to care about magic would mean she would have to care about the universe or life, really. If the Rot ends up overtaking the village then the sooner the better as far as she is concerned.

Luna is the only child of Joseph and Jenilee Abernova, whom died in a fatal car accident some years ago in the nearest city.
Upon their untimely deaths Luna was given to her grandfather, Isaac Abernova, whom continued to operate the family-owned general store in Root River. When Luna was sixteen-years-old Luna began to need to care for her grandfather and man the general store, which has only recently come into her ownership. Her grandfather’s funeral was two years ago.

The Abernova family pet, a flat-coated retriever named “Clutch” was adopted when Luna was ten years old making him currently a dog of twelve years.
H O M E L I F E
Luna’s General Store sits on the second spot on the regional map, as it has been since the village was co-founded by one of her distant relatives. Not that she cares her family helped start the village she’s trapped in or anything. The general store is accompanied by a two-bedroom apartment on the second floor, of which Luna and her Grandfather shared up to his death. There's also a connected storehouse.
S T O R Y
Luna Abernova was raised solely by her grandfather not long after she was born. She doesn’t remember her parents, let alone what happened to them, nor does she really care all that much about learning about it. As far as she perceives it, her grandfather is the only family she has ever had and that’s fine.
Over the years, this sentiment has not changed and although Luna has inherited the local general store following her grandfather’s death, she has come to the realization that she’s not really going anywhere; though the corporate offer to buy the general store was certainty enticing if not for the fact that she hated the slimy, suit-and-tie salesman way more than she felt discontent with the village she had grown up in. That’s without even factoring in the mere fact that selling the general store to BigCo would be a betrayal to the memory of her grandfather and Luna has no intention of sullying the one good thing she feels about the general store and by proxy, the village.
She just moved in, so she has yet to find any kind of job

Spot #1 on the map. Her dad had helped her pick the spot - saying that it was a nice little town and she really likes the big, fenced in backyard. Perfect for potential puppy pals! Other than that, her house is kind of sparse. She didn't pack a lot for the trip. Clothes, her bedstuff, some kitchen- and dinner-ware, her childhood stuffed rabbit - er, wait, you weren't supposed to know that last one!

To keep it very simple and brief, she's a child of divorce - and she can sort of understand why. Like, her dad is very quiet, introverted, and overthinks a lot - a lot a lot; and her mother is very extroverted, a thrill seeker, and the two of them have gotten lost in pretty scary places plenty of times. They both loved her and kept her safe, and that's really all Ana could ask for. But enough about them, this isn't about them. It's about Ana, and Ana moved out to forge her own path! Even if it's, uh, a little scary. She's never really been alone like this before, but she's willing to give it a go.

Like most of Root River, Irina believes in the supernatural surrounding the village, although she has yet to see it in person. Most of her belief stems from her grandmother's bed time stories from when she was a child, but there is a part of Irina that is genuinely curious towards the aspect of magic.
Rᴇʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴs
F A M I L Y M E M B E R S
Irina is an only child born to Landon and Amelia Berstal—both names someone might know depending how long they have been in Root River. Though her parents moved to the city for "greener pastures", the post office was placed in Irina's care, who uses the profits to support her grandmother, Charlene, and her cousin, Ophelia, who was recently dumped onto Irina in hopes that she might learn something from her cousin's work habits.
A N I M A L F R I E N D S
Irina owns three carrier pigeons gifted by her grandmother, who trained them for long distance correspondence if regular mail isn't enough. Their names are Moe, Larry and Curly—each named after a character from some old show Irina's grandmother frequently listened too on the radio.
H O M E L I F E
The Root River Post Office (the RRPO, or PO for short), and also the Berstal place of residence, lies directly across the path from the Mayor's home. Given that Root River is a small village, only the smaller offshoot of the building is used as the post office, where separate desks for ingoing or outgoing mail can be found. The rest of the building is exists as a three bedroom home where Irina, her cousin, and their grandmother live.
S T O R Y
For most of Irina's life, life has been rather simple. Her parents, and her grandparents before them, had ran the local post office, where Irina was left to her own devices (which often meant socializing with the post office's patrons). Recently, however, life had taken a change from the normality Irina was used to. Roughly a year ago, Irina's parents moved into the city (her mother had felt homesick), leaving the post office in their daughter's care. Then, there had been the letters from BigCo, as well her aunt and uncle dumping her cousin on her, hoping that she might learn a thing or two from Irina's hardworking nature.
As for what Irina knows, the coming seasons are certain to be rough and hard, but it's the journey, not the destination, that matters, right?

Shy, quiet, brooding, solitary and hard-working. Ferris is mostly content living out his simple life, collecting wood and performing repairs on the old buildings around town. He seldom speaks to people aside from his mother except for business purposes, and gets nervous around large crowds. However, Ferris is extremely hopeful that the town might be able to bounce back from these hard times, and thrive as it once did before BigCo.
Ferris happens to be quite tall and brawny, given all the time he spends swinging an ax around. Unfortunately it hasn’t given him the confidence he’s lacking.

Ferris doesn’t just believe in magic; he is a devout follower of the village spirits. Ferris continues his parents’ tradition of bringing offerings to the forest spirits’ shrines, even though their power doesn’t seem to hold sway anymore. Ferris still holds out hope that one day the Harvest Goddess and her sprites will revitalize the area, but as more and more villagers begin to move away, others are beginning to wonder if Ferris’ determination and faith is an admirable last stand against corporate greed, or a fruitless delaying of the inevitable.
The Family History
F A M I L Y M E M B E R S
Age: 45 Occupation: Florist and decorator Physical Description: A friendly raven-haired woman who looks good for her age, but gives herself away by her clothes and demeanor. There’s a clear family resemblance between her and Ferris.
Ferris’ closest living relative is his mother Isa, a forty-five year-old florist who creates flower arrangements for the town. Unfortunately, with so many residents leaving, business is starting to dry up. In particular, the Petal Dance which once provided the florist enough money to last for months is no longer the same massive event.
Isa can be aloof at times, but genuinely does care about her son and the town. Given her adherence to the old faith, fascination for rare plants, and tendency to spend hours on end on the woods, there are some old rumours about her being a witch. But those couldn’t possibly be true.
A N I M A L F R I E N D S
Maggie, his father’s old hunting dog. She’s far too old to hunt anymore, pushing on 14, but despite her scars and tendency to sit still most of the day, she is incredibly affectionate.
Maggie has befriended a small bird who occasionally rests on her back, but Ferris has yet to name it.
H O M E L I F E
Ferris lives just outside the main town in what was once a small log cabin (spot #12 on the map). It has been expanded significantly in the past fifteen years, sitting as one of the largest properties on the forest’s edge, and now boasts a workshop and impromptu lumberyard. The cabin is surrounded by an impromptu lumberyard complete with sawhorse and workbench, and has several wooden planters full of beautiful flowers. The word “Wheeler’s” is painted in red cursive on a wooden sign above their door, decorated with a hammer and nails motif on one end of the text, and a bouquet of flowers on the other.
S T O R Y
Freddy Wheeler, Ferris’ dad, arrived in Root River after inheriting a small log cabin on the forest’s edge from his grandfather. Although originally a lawyer from a large city, he soon became enamoured with the little town and married a local girl, a florist named Isabella. Although not everyone believes the stories, Freddy and Isa apparently used to commune with the local nature spirits in the area, bringing them fine wooden crafts, furs and bouquets to increase the bounty of the woods. In time, the area around the cabin flourished, and the couple was blessed with a healthy baby boy.
Ferris’ childhood was happy, uneventful, and (thankfully) quite boring. He learned the family trade, and the town saw relative prosperity while living in harmony with the nature that surrounded it.
This changed when BigCo came to Root River with their bulldozers and cranes, hoping to tear down forests and buildings that were hundreds of years old to build a gaudy resort. While most assumed their efforts would fail at first, they eventually began putting up offers for the land that could not be refused. When they began to clear-cut the woods and divert the rivers, however, Freddy took things into his own hands. The cityfolk-turned-woodsman still had a license to practice law, and with the help of various hunters and lumberjacks in the region he was able to put together a convincing case against BigCo violating a number of environmental ordinances. It seemed as though the lawsuit was going well, and that no matter how much land they purchased, BigCo would not be able to proceed with their construction plans. Freddy’s efforts sent a wave of hope through the townspeople, elevating him to being somewhat of a local hero. He had applied to have the region designated as a protected area when tragedy struck.
On one of Freddy’s usual trips to deliver tribute to a shrine deep in the forest, he vanished. It’s unknown exactly what became of him, but his body was never recovered. The only thing left of him was his woodcutter’s ax, lying with its blade stuck in the dirt. With nobody else willing to take up the case, the suit against BigCo was eventually dismissed, and the company was allowed to continue with its development of the region into a tourist trap.
Ferris became more socially isolated after his father’s disappearance, feeling as though he was unable to fill the shoes Fred had left behind. To make matters worse, much of the money Freddy had saved in case an emergency should befall the family was used to fight the difficult legal battle against BigCo, one that now seemed to have been pointless. Ferris still holds out hope that one day his father will return, but knows deep down in his heart that Freddy Wheeler has more than likely joined the spirits he once revered so much. Sadly, when Freddy disappeared, he took many of the townspeoples’ hopes with them.

Xavier doesn't really believe in the Harvest Goddess or magic of the like, but he entertains the idea because the thought of it is nice. He plays along when others sincerely believe in it, and he has seen the very real effects of "The Rot," but he doesn't contribute any good or bad fortune to supernatural forces like magic.

Xavier is an only child, and his parents live kind of far away in the city, their names are Clara and Ethan Price. His mother Clara is a real-estate agent and his father Ethan is a nurse at the city's hospital. His father's work combined with some other factors in his life guided him on his path to medicine.

Xavier's home is Space 4 on the map, and also doubles as the Root River Clinic The building is a moderate size, and the entire first floor is dedicated to the clinic. It features a curtained off resting area in addition to exam rooms. The second floor is a bit smaller and features a kitchenette, bedroom, bath, etc. Behind the clinic is a small hutch for the rabbits and small yard. Xavier is by no means a vet but he does let animals rest in the yard if they need to be quarantined from their home farms.
S T O R Y
Despite his more recent reputation as a former city slicker, Xavier's family used to live in Root River. Xavier, his parents, and his grandfather Francis, had a modest home in the town as Xavier was growing up. They enjoyed a very happy family life, but Ethan worked long hours and had a long commute. His wife also wanted to move into the city, but Xavier was resistant. He loved his grandfather (who had no desire to move) and the town, but ultimately he had no say in the matter. When they could afford it, Xavier and his parents moved away and his grandfather remained in town. Living the city life, Xavier studied hard to get into med school, and spent nearly all of his free time working towards his goal. That and questioning his sexuality, that is. Despite that, the smog and dense populous, it wasn't an unpleasant life. Xavier's grandfather Francis was a hearty man, but eventually time caught up with him and he needed someone to look after him. Xavier and his parents would travel back and forth from the city to Root River to keep an eye on Francis, as the old man didn't want to leave his home. The town's local clinic had been failing for the last few years, as more and more residents left for greener pastures and rumors that the entire town would be leveled spread throughout. The diminished services of the clinic meant that sooner or later Francis would have to leave Root River as well if he wanted to get the care he needed. However, Root River had always meant a lot to him as the place he grew up and met his late wife, and so after a couple years he passed peacefully in his home. His old house in Root River was sold to BigCo. by none other than Xavier's mother, since the family had inherited it. This incident caused quite a big fight in the family and although Xavier and his mother have since made up, the situation made up Xavier's mind and, now an adult, he moved back to Root River. He borrowed some money from his parents and a city bank to buy out the old clinic and fix it up. He still owes a lot. He thought, 'No one should have to leave their home so far behind just to get care!' Using the medicinal knowledge he'd acquired from schooling in the city, Xavier hopes to revitalize both the small clinic and the town. Just to note: Xavier doesn't have a doctorate, so whenever the residents call him "Dr. Price," he gets a little embarrassed and has to correct them! He's working on it though, and continues his schooling online and some infrequent trips back into the city when needed.

Lives in a comfortable stone cottage they restored next door to the feasting hall with a large fireplace at its centre point, bright pink door and windows stand out from the old grey stonework and a covered veranda around two sides providing shelter for a coffee and a place to watch the world roll by dry and snug.
Home for both Peterson sisters with two bedrooms, modern features and technology blended into a traditional old fashioned stone cottage. It's not the fanciest home in the village but it's the one that always has a warm welcome and hot drink waiting for any guests.
The feasting hall has a long pair of benches down the sides and the central all-important fire pit in the middle keeping the large room warm. Thick sheepskins and a large wooden chest of blankets and other items to help patrons keep warm and snug regardless of how deep the snows get, long winters nights and howling winds try to bring a chill. Not minding a slow meal the hall has a large collection of board games, chess sets and other entertainments available to enjoy an evening with friends or spend a slow rainy afternoon in comfort and company. The Feasting Hall is a place to eat but also a social location too.
Though the slightly dimly lit room can be a bit smokey, and little getting used to, it's got many comforts, a very warm welcome and always a warm filling meal ready for any customers who pay a visit.
The Rot as what they called it locally was a hurdle, there was a reason the place was cheap but it's hold was broken on the old building through much hard work. Once the Rots hold was beaten back a gleaming Thor's hammer nailed above the door and the top rafters as an old fashioned form of protection and blessing to all those who feast were added under his protective hammer with Odin's raven watching from the pinnacle. Well, hopefully, it works... Anything is better than nothing right? Can never hurt to respect the old god's.
The menu has rather generously portioned meat options, thick and warm stews all year round but especially in the colder seasons and ales by the glass or horn for the adventurous. Serving a mix including traditional Nordic and Viking options and modern options like tea, lighter fares or just a chance to warm up by the large open fire pit on a cold day and a chat.
The feasting hall was one of the hearts of life, a place where celebration, gatherings and many other functions under one, particularly important roof. Hopefully, Freyas could live up to the history and be a heart of the community for anyone who decides to visit.
S T O R Y
Born in a nearby town to a family of stonemasons and an office worker who worked on a major bridge and roadway to link there a town with the city. A fairly happy and a slightly poorer family, the twins were born and both grew up happily with a love of Nordic culture and food. Their parents met on the major project together, smiles turned to flirts and eventually Twins arrived.
Though not wealthy the Peterson's worked hard, keen to escape the grip of Big Co and decide their own path with a lot of help from friends, an inheritance and a large amount of hard work the two sisters restored an old stone cottage to live in and the rest was converted into a large Viking inspired feasting hall. The locals were less than convinced at first but there determined nature, warm welcome and an endless supply of hot stews, oversized meaty meals and more traditional Nordic offerings soon began to change the perceptions of the newcomers business.
They had a few rocky moments along the way, half the roof nearly fell in repairing it and money was tight but eventually, they managed to open with a lot of effort, some tears, blood kept from bleeding by the doctor and too little sleep.
Coming from a proud Nordic family the two could have taken an easier road but instead founded there feasting hall. A small slice of a Nordic welcome in a small village outside in the country.
Fluffy Astrid rescued as a puppy and the overly large Newfoundland became her devoted companion though it was rather mutual and often can be seen lazing in the hall and greeting customers when Astrid's at work.

Sierra has been described as someone with a 'mind of metal and wheels', though that is not to say that she has a heart of stone. Sierra simply desires practicality and efficiency, which may come off as a need to control. She lives a simple life, feeling that excess dulls the mind and weakens the body. Sierra shows care through actions instead of words, so while she's terrible at comforting people, she may attempt to solve their problems or simply do chores around their house for them if she feels indebted to them. She derives self-worth from being useful to others. She secretly, and not-so-secretly, judges others positively based on their usefulness and negatively based on their extravagance, and doesn't trust those who are rich or have lived comfortable lives. Sierra believes that the prosperity of Root River lies under the earth rather than above it and seeks to save Root River from the fate that befell her hometown by finding a motherlode in the mines. If she is unable to succeed at that, she would resort to 'saving' Root River through modernization and industrialization, putting her at odds with those who would prefer to keep the town natural and pastoral. Sierra is also something of a penny-pincher having lived a relatively poor life. She likes simple foods that give her long-lasting energy and foods that don't spoil. She often conflates enjoyment and decoration with decadence and opulence. The only thing she's really willing to spend money on is healthy nutrition so she can keep working.

Sierra doesn't believe in the Harvest Goddess, or the supernatural. Sierra believes in "the sweat of a man's brow", and that hard work, not wishes, is the only thing that can change the world. She thinks the Rot is a natural occurrence, and if people blame BigCo for the Rot, she will counter that many other places have industrialized, yet don't seem to complain about the Rot, so either the Rot isn't real, or companies like BigCo know how to deal with it.

Cletus is an old resident of Root River, and knows all the other locals. He moved here decades ago from a faraway land and began plying his metalworking trade, working together with the local miners. But despite Root River falling on hard times, and people selling their land and moving out, Cletus continued to work and maintain the crumbling town, even digging for ores himself before age began to overtake him. He is a very close friend to the Wheelers, and regrets being too socially jaded and too superstitious (because he saw Freddy's disappearance as an ill omen) to continue Freddy's fight against BigCo. Before Sierra's arrival, Cletus had been relying on Ferris' strength and youth to help with the town's upkeep. Now he continues to smith, while letting Sierra do most of the mining, but he hopes to one day pass on his skills to her before he joins his ancestors.
Cletus is a serious individual who keeps his emotions close to his chest. To him, life is a set of rules that one must follow, as well as a game that could devolve into chaos at any point. Despite not being rich, he insists on dressing well because he knows that human nature is judgmental, and presenting as well-off was a deterrent to other problems. Cletus is defensive in a diverting and avoidant sort of way, rarely letting his guard down. Still, it is clear to others that he means well, but that his culture and unknown past experiences have forced him to put up a wall that is unlikely to come down now that he is in the winter of his life.

A male tortoiseshell cat (a genetic improbability) named Limp Biscuit lives with Sierra and Cletus. Originally, Sierra found the cat injured with a limp and nursed it back to health. She originally just called the cat 'Limp', expecting to release it back into the wild once it had healed. But the cat stayed around, though Sierra doesn't feed it, instead letting it hunt on its own. Someone eventually convinced Sierra that she needed to give it a cuter name, like 'Biscuit', so she started calling it 'Biscuit', but it wouldn't respond to the new name. So finally, Sierra settled on 'Limp Biscuit'.

Cletus Kang has allowed Sierra, while she is his apprentice, to live in his home, which is the town smithy, located in position 5. The property belongs to Cletus, is known as "Kang's Smithy", and has a decidedly 'Eastern' decorative flair.
S T O R Y
Sierra was born in another rural town. Sierra's father used to be the foreman of the town's mine. A series of unfortunate cave-ins and accidents as well as a sudden inability to locate rich ore deposits led to the mine being deemed exhausted and subsequently shut down. When Sierra was 10, the Hamilton's moved to the city where Sierra's father became a factory worker, while her mother became a teacher, though previously she had been a homemaker. In her hometown, Sierra had been able to spend plenty of time with both parents, but in the city, they both needed to have jobs to support the high cost of living. Sierra felt neglected and kept to herself, blaming the mine's closure for her misfortune and the exhaustion she saw in both her parents' attempts at trying to earn a living wage. Upon graduating high school, Sierra took hard labor jobs to help contribute to the family finances, knowing they didn't have enough to send her to college.
One day, her parents surprised her with some money that they had been saving up. They remembered how much happier she was in the town she was born, and they had saved this money so that she could start a new life and make her way in the world. They convinced her that they made enough to take care of themselves, and that Sierra deserved a chance at freedom from the city and to see the world. She first went back to her hometown and saw that it had been more-or-less abandoned. Asking around, it turned out that it had fallen on hard times, and when BigCo moved in to develop it, the citizens said, 'no' because they wanted to keep it natural. BigCo left the town to its own devices, but it eventually started losing business and population started dwindling. Sierra then turned towards Root River, hoping that she could strike it rich in the mountain, save her parents from the city, and let them retire in peace, comfort and dignity.
To kick-start her mining career, she met with the local blacksmith, Cletus Kang, to learn the ins-and-outs of mining, though she also had her own father's knowledge to rely on. It was easy for Sierra to pick up on mining, since it was a low-skill job, but Cletus also began to teach her smithing, since he was getting on in years and hoped an apprentice could continue the upkeep of Root River's infrastructure and industry. Sierra refers to Cletus as 'Kang ShiFu' (Instructor Kang).

Empathetic: As a result of his background, Oliver is among the first to identify others' problems. He tends to offer help as well.
Materialistic: Oliver is a fan of money and expensive gifts. This is likely thanks to his impoverished childhood. He is also frugal.
Optimistic: In attempts to hide his self-loathing and depression, Oliver maintains the front as a "happy-go-lucky" person.
Idiot: Slow, stupid, "not very sharp". Generally speaking, Oliver is far from intelligent and severely lacks common sense.
Dishonest: Oliver keeps the front that he is truly happy and a believer in the Harvest Goddess when neither are true.
Depressed: He suffers from chronic depression. Oliver is quick to hide this under perpetual optimism, however.
Generous: Oliver doesn't have many personal possessions, but he's willing to share or give whatever he can.
Affable: As a priest, Oliver is easy to approach. He is usually the first to strike a conversation with someone.

Oliver is usually active from 8 am to 11 PM. He spends his mornings in various places throughout Root River, but he prefers to visit the local red bridge in hopes of seeing the Harvest Goddess. Much of his later morning and afternoon hours seem to be dedicated to visiting the various businesses of Root River save for the feasting hall which is saved for the evening. His Sundays are entirely spent in the small, makeshift chapel on his homestead. There are breaks in his schedule where he spends time caring for his rabbit, horse, and visiting residents as well.

On the surface, Oliver is a devout believer and follower in the teachings of the Harvest Goddess. He preaches her teachings, appears to hold belief in the Harvest Sprites, and actively warns against falling victim to The Rot. He is generally considered to be Root River's guiding knowledge on spiritual affairs thanks to his role as the town's priest. In spite of that, however, he is very much a non-believer in his own mind and has become jaded towards the Harvest Goddess throughout the years. He still, however, continues to spread her message and hopes to help others through it.

Oliver is the youngest of six and the son of two farmers. He rarely speaks of his family and does not appear to be close with any of them. They are not native to Root River and are said to live "far away". His parents, Anna and Curtis Reed, occasionally send letters with unknown contents. He has four older sisters and two older brothers. Little are known about them save for their names: Charlotte, Emily, Cheryl, Charity, Jack, and Henry.
A N I M A L F R I E N D S
His best friends consist of a Flemish Giant rabbit and a Shire horse. Their names are Cinnamon and Storm, respectively. Cinnamon is light brown to tan in appearance while Storm is mostly black save for the lower half of his legs and his snout.
H O M E L I F E
Oliver resides on lot six which is considered to be one of the outskirts of Root River. He lives alone and has very little furniture in his humble abode. Save for Sundays, his home life is mostly quiet and he can be rarely seen at home. Public appearances aside, staying at home for too long usually causes him to feel restless and anxious. He has a small stable for his horse and usually conducts sermons from a makeshift chapel that is around the size of a barn on Sundays.
S T O R Y
Oliver had a hectic and unpleasant upbringing. This was thanks to the poverty, depression, and frequent famines that slowly whittled away his faith in the Harvest Goddess. Many hungry days led him onto a path of helping others in whatever way that he could. He had moved to Root River four years prior to the Roleplay and this has since allowed him to experience a fresh start in life. He has since dedicated his time to helping the locals in whatever means possible and chasing rumors in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Harvest Goddess for himself. Perhaps that would be enough to restore his faith in her.

Absolutely! Eugene believes that all of these things exist and does everything in his powers to celebrate the mystical beings around him. Sometimes he takes a little too much credit for their actions but he swears that he gives them their acknowledgement in the privacy of his own home.

{Lot #9} The Mayor's orchard is a place of confusion and wonder. It has a large orchard and pond out back where Eugene boasts has the best fruit and best fish that the land has to offer. The inside of his home is aged but well crafted. Passed down from generations and generations. Some of the rooms lead to nowhere and have not even been explored by the current mayor himself. He has a maid and butler that take care of all his cleaning but he hasn't seen them in probably five or seven years.
S T O R Y
The Mayor's position is that of enjoyment and responsibility- when the Yuletree family welcomed their one and only son Eugene Yuletree (The XV) order felt restored and they felt Root River would once again be in good hands. For some reason the town always held an election, but the child of the previous mayor always just won by default. It could be because no one else was aware of the election, but MOST would say it's because it was clear that the Yuletree family was just the most capable of the job.
Eugene was raised as a spoiled young boy and always got his way, and when he didn't he would have quite a tantrum until he did. This attitude followed him into his teens and far into his adult life making him one of the most hardest men to please, unless you were doing exactly what he said when he said it. This lifestyle has worked out for the mayor for the most part and he has lived quite a well off life, without much complaints.
However, lately Eugene is getting nervous that he will not be able to have a child to carry on the family name and take over the family business. He is getting quite desperate and has been even giving presents to the Harvest Goddess daily in hopes that she will grant his one true wish. When not worried about the state of his affairs he spends some of his time trying to encourage the town to keep their spirits up while the BigCo fiasco happens around them. He is sure that the town will pull through, and can only hope for the best.

Mahina Wolff grew up in a loving home that was very well off. Her parents climbed the corporate ladder quickly at BigCo, and as such they were never wanting for anything. In fact, it was such a life that Mahina grew lazy and lacked motivation to do anything else. She breezed through college majoring in wine, sex and English, so a great use of her time.
Her parents were ticked and decided that if Mahina wasn't going to be productive like Haumea, they were going to force the issue. Her parents bought a portion of land in Root River, expecting Mahina to do something with the land to make its value increase before they eventually sold it to BigCo for a massive profit. The perks of insider trading. However, because they didn't want to be attacked and put Mahina's name on the deed, that meant the young woman could do whatever she wanted with it. Being outside the city and the lap of luxury for the first time actually filled Mahina with peace and excitement she hadn't known during her sheltered time at City University. She started researching what she could do and quickly found out that she could combine one of her old passions with this new opportunity. Thus, Werewolff Vineyard was born. Why Werewolff? Because regular wolves are cool, but werewolffs are badass.
Mahina slowly ingrained herself into the town's fabric, but after learning what some people thought about BigCo and their plans for the town, she has never told them about her parents or how she managed to acquire that land...

Of course. Though her brother was at first skeptical about the storries that their mother told them as kids, Natalie grew to have a true fascination for the Harvest Sprites and Goddess. Doubling as their job location, Natalie and Michael both live down the road from the post office (#10). With the main floor acting as the Huntsmen's Guild (“Name's a bit of a work in progress...”) they had to move their actual house upstairs. The Huntsmen's Guild itself doesn't get much activity, or workers unfortunately. People usually come in to request an animal or two for them to kill for 'em, for a price. More recently it's been updated to adapt against the risk of monsters attacking Root River.
S T O R Y
Originally living in the suburbs as a child, Natalie and Michael moved to Root River five years ago with their mother's stories in mind. How she would tell them about the Harvest Goddess, the sprites in the forests, and something about a curse she had overheard when she still lived there. The Rot, perhaps. Life was normal for the most part. They spent their days in the woods hunting deer and rabbit and such. But when BigCo had their sights set on the town, something changed. Of course Natalie refused every offer on their small plot of land, but at night, strange creatures, monsters, started to appear within the darkness of the forest. And as the town's huntsmen, the siblings decided to take it upon them to protect Root River from this sudden abnormality, while trying to find a way to reverse The Rot's effects.

Growing up same as Astrid the two twin sisters where close, their parents both worked so they grew to rely on each other fairly heavily.
Very much a girly girl she grew up to be the more feminine of the two Petersons. The family budget never matched her aspirations so by requirement soon learned how to find a good bargain, negotiate a price and dress well on far less than you would believe. Very much a flirt, it caused quite a bit of trouble for her and more than one argument over boyfriends and prospective ones between the two.
Getting rather bored at her job in the City, proposing a crazy idea to Astrid soon it snowballed, money was saved and in what felt like an age to them anyway they were moving to Root River to direct these own destiny.
Starting up was difficult, the building was a wreck and the cottage was not much better. A lot of hard work later managed to turn the building around but the people took a little more winning over to the newcomer's ideas.
Tora really wants to make a success of things and Root River seems like the place to do it.
