@Alfhedil Well, lacking any clue of what anyone else is thinking of, and I'm both flexible and coming up with this off the cuff...
I'm of two minds at the moment, as I usually am when given a setup like this. Depending on what other people are throwing up, first thought is to play up as someone on the edge of heroism and villainy, leaning into villainy due to some fatal flaw in their powerset that leads them to the conclusion that they can't really do good with it. So likely some powerset that is archetypically villainous: poison, darkness, or perhaps something linked closely to emotions and give them just the wrong kind of temperament to use it nicely and not enough self-awareness to notice that it's emotionally connected.
Having written that now, yeah if that's the broad angle I went with I would go with linking it into their emotions and have it seem to act on its own from the perspective of the character despite the fact that it's just them lashing out emotionally. A danger to themselves and those around them just because they have no real control of themselves.

The alternate is to basically go the exact opposite in terms of personality. My brain isn't feeling the middle ground right now, so while yeah sure the middle ground exists, going for pure, unadulterated idealism. A hero because doing good is good. It's the right thing to do. Don't know about powers yet on this end. Details tend to just flow in on me when they feel like it, see above for an example.

Considering the comments you made in our discord during your thankfully brief time involved in our Star Wars RP, and how you handled the review of your character there, I speak for the entire GM team when I say that we are not interested in you.

Interesting concept guys. I've been out of RPing for a little while, but have been looking for a game like this to jump back in for. I've got a few different character concepts that I feel could work in this world you've created, but before I get too excited I'd like to check what kind of posting schedule you imagine will be in place? I could probably post once or twice a week comfortably if this RP is going to be high-casual, but anything more than that I don't think I'd be fast enough for you.

@BlackSam3091 Not going to lie chief, we're pretty laid back and chill regarding posting. All I'll say before I yeet an invite your way is that Jess is preferring metas at the moment, as we've got a few magic peeps, and that we're fairly firm on the idea of characters very recently coming into their powers/trying to be a hero.

Just throwing it out there for those still interested and those who have bailed without so much as a word, the OOC is in progress. We are still actively talking characters, potential interactions in the vein of who knows who, and just general banter. With luck, Jess should have the OOC up sometime shortly and we'll be rolling into stage two. I just ask patience as this is a team effort and there's a lot of sickness going around.

I'd like to maybe join. I want to base my character on a priest from a light novel I read, maybe not exactly a priest though. The basic concept is a slightly insane guy with a strong sense of justice and faith in something(in the case of the novel, his god). He's incredibly friendly generally unless it's towards somebody with ideals that they're too weak to uphold which usually drives him into a slight rage since he has a slightly Darwinistic mindset.

The Priest made a quote that keeps running through my mind which is something along the lines of "Justice without strength is not just idiotic. Justice without strength is poison." which really has me interested in the concepts of strength and helplessness in the face of evil even if you have strong ideals as well as how those ideals can poison the minds of the weak by making them dependent on a savior or making the strong too dependent on morality they don't actually believe in.

That or a chuuni, depending on how serious people wanna take it then making a weeb ninja or a super edgy lord would be fun too.

Maybe a half-demon or government made clone who keeps complaining about how terrible his life is in a dark corner even though he's had an alright life up to that point. He'll have super edgy powers who's downsides are actually incredibly superficial or non-existant that he still blows out of proportion.

Like "crawlinginmycrawl", "StraightOuttaLinkinPark", "PapaRoach Before it was Cool", or like "That Emo band that everyone pretends to like, but only listens to because the cute goth girl". And just to be clear here, would I be right in assuming that you specified the powers were edgy and not the guy, because maybe he's just a normal person with a permanent case of criticalEDGE? Also, should we stock up on gauze?

My idea would just be crawling in my skin emo guy who had a decently alright life but still quotes the edgy pretentious parts of reddit cause he semi-hates everything for no reason. Powers would be generic shadow or fire manipulation which in any other character would just be a regular, flexible power but this character would consider it his "curse". The other idea would be slight cyber/bio ware implants like a datajacks to plug in implants or completely unnoticeable muscle enhancements, either of which would make him consider himself a "monster".

Mostly like a 70% joke character but it'd be amusing, also if he survives long enough I might put him through character development. Honestly he might even turn normal if slightly awkward if he actually finds friends that try to tell him to quit his bullshit and act like a normal person.

Aight, actually let me think real quick. I dunno if I wanna do the priest character since I kinda wanna do a light-hearted character but don't have the specifics.

Might just do a streamer who got powers if I can't think of anything but a part of me wants to make a fast-food mascot hero as a tribute to a story author I followed before he disappeared.

Actually I really wanna do the mascot hero, aim to make his themes and character arc about facades in the name of uplifting the spirits of the people as well as balancing an idealized character he actually loves with the corporate interests he doesn't agree with. Part cinnamon toast crunch, Sekibayashi and Nezu from Kengan Ashura.
