Utena Soriyu

Utena smiled quietly as she felt her lines go suddenly slack, knowing for a fact that was likely Diva transforming and escaping somehow with Terrorkeat in tow. It was for the best really, she didn't know what the commander would do with two restrained GMGs, all that pent up anger and frustration... ok maybe she kind of wanted to know. But that was besides the point! A distant yelp shook the world as Utena exited the fog bank, looking to the sky where it came from and seeing... nothing. How odd.

The sound of a low chirp stole her attention as she looked over to Akari, her eyes widening a tad as she saw the captured Terrorkeat. Shit. Shit shit shit, that was not supposed to happen. Akari's voice crackled to life in the comms, asking what they were supposed to do with the giant bird now that they had captured her, command was probably going insane right now trying to figure out what to do. They had never actually caught a GMG before, only ever driven them off, so this was a major victory for them all in all. It was also going to be a major turning point, they were going to expect more and more captures now that they had gotten one, life was going to get a lot crazier for everyone soon enough.

Utena landed in front of Terrorkeat's face quickly, her face wrinkling with concern as she held herself back from touching the GMG's face. "I'm sorry about this. I'll make sure they treat you right, you just gotta play along with everything for now." She whispered, before turning her comms on herself. "Alright crew, I know you're all in a celebratory mood but now's not the time to get sloppy. Get some cranes, clear a path to HQ, hopefully we have a warehouse big enough to store our "guest" until we can build better accommodations. Move!" She ordered, whipping the MFF into a frenzy as she layed out the gameplan for now.

Yeshua Sands - Terrorkeet

Utena may have a gotten a response out of the GMG if there wasn't a suspiciously round gag keeping her maw occupied. Given the volume her cry could reach, it was no surprise they would want her silenced before they even considered moving her. The matter of housing such a GMG, while not something they had directly planned for, was actually an issue easily remedied without even needing to leave her exposed on the surface.

The subterean mech bays they'd used to launch anti-GMG mecha served as excellent cradles to not store their first prisoner, something Yeshua found far from comforting as the full series of docks and destraints pressed against her, hemming her in with hard, unyielding alloy and bolts that dug sharply against her where they'd normally secure neatly into a robot's hull ports. On top of those already existing measures came a mesh cage laid scarce feet from the restraints, a constant current running through it making the idea stretching rather terminally ill-fated.

This would have been enough to make Yeshua a truly miserable bird, but it was the fact that the hanger was now crowded with gawking MFF personel that really soured her mood. The electrified cage kept anyone outside from getting any foolish notion of exacting revenge on their organization's primary enemy, but it didn't stop her from being made to endure the jeers and howls of triumph in muted silence.

Or the excitement of the scientists as they eyed her like a specimen soon to be tested upon. This was a far cry from the welcome HART gave her and Yeshua's heart panged at the thought of the friendly humans she'd met only hours prior.

While Utena’s orders made sense for containment, there was no need. The ground beneath Yeshua split apart as docking bays and other mechanisms did well in containing her on their own. Pressing on all sides, metal, electrified mesh, and more metal became Yeshua’s new home. Whatever surprise the MFF had before was now replaced by a rampant jubilation that was buzzing in the air almost like an invisible infection. As soldier and scientist moved about, Yeshua would remain where she was until some idea of transport was given.

There was talk of putting the big bird to sleep for moving her going around as well as some speaking about keeping the city on lockdown instead. They’d simply rule it as a “quarantine” if Yeshua proved to be too much of a hassle to move to the MFF HQ. At the same time, Utena and Akari were being searched for, several troops passing orders one by one through the chain of command. Before long, their presence was required on the ground field until both were assembled.

The both of them were given control of the operation to move Yeshua to the MFF base in whatever fashion they deemed fit. Naturally, this was in assumption they were to work together in doing this, being the senior officers around in comparison to the ground troops. The docking bay beneath Yeshua slowly lowered even more, able to go beneath the ground further and house Yeshua beneath the very roadside itself if need be, at least until a consensus was reached. Indeed, this was quite the victory for the MFF on this day.

Akane watched as Yeshua's bound form was lowered into the ground. Tired from the battle, and nursing a headache, she leaned on her weapon like a cane as she watched the MFF celebrate. She didn't feel like celebrating. It wasn't as simple as feeling bad for capturing one of her own, to await and unknown fate at the hands of humans who hated them. This was one step in a great many that might someday lead to peace. Her lack of celebratory cheer was from the knowledge that the work wasn't done yet. It had only begun.

Her concerns weighed on her as she turned away and began to make her way back to the main MFF convoy. The invaders that interfered with the battle today, just who were they? Akane prided herself on being in the know, but this had caught even her off-guard. Their technology was advanced enough to hide in plain sight, suggesting massive funding, their training was top notch, suggesting organization. From the reports, they shot carefully so casualties were surprisingly low. This, too brought up more questions. And finally, it seemed that, somehow, they were working with kaiju. Had Yeshua always been in contact with them? Hourai too--the one the MFF had labeled 'Diva'. Akane knew of her, though their paths hadn't crossed yet. She'd been meaning to get into contact with her, but hadn't found the time. Akane suspected a third too. That powerful voice telling everyone to shut up could only belong to another GMG. Finally, but most pressing, she was worried about Yashiro. The two of them had been friends for years, and Akane had known she harbored strong feelings against GMGs. But to endanger the lives of everyone there to fight a losing battle...? It was a miracle, and a testament to the sheer grit of their soldiers, that the battle went as well as it did.

She mused on these thoughts as the vehicle brought her back to MFF HQ. Back to work, despite the sun nearly gone beneath the horizon. She stepped out and stretched, fixing her mask off to the side. First order of business was to find the commander, second was Yeshua. She put a hand on her weapon and sought Yashiro out.

The MFF headquarters was a buzz of activity and fresh faces, the halls now bustling with stern men in JSDF uniforms. Young men in immaculately crisp uniforms storming up and down halls, hauling crates of equipment with a fervor that was almost religious in its intensity to match the demanding standards of their commanding officer. In fact, Yurei would find a great many following her same path, and upon entering what should have been Yashiro's office, she was met with a splash of crimson and pink in the normally steel dominated space.

Turning on her heel, the harsh report of a crop striking palm heralded a beautific smile that didn't quite reach the officer's eyes. Tucking her crap up her sleeve she met Akane at the door and forcefully shook her hand while she was still no doubt confused by the strange woman and even stranger forces moving in furniture, personal items, and an entire roll of plush, crimson carpetting no doubt soon to be fitted to the floor.

"Ah, you must be Akane Yurei. I've read a good deal about you, and I must say I adore that level head of yours. Exactly why I'm not moving into your office right now, in point of fact." The military woman tittered, an airy expression belying the tight grip she put upon the Kitsune's hand. It would have made for a threatening posture, if the woman wasn't over a head beneath Akane, even in heeled boots. "Oh, but where are my manners. I'm Fukushi McNair, the current acting commander of the MFF in light of recent events while your Yashiro is informing a board of inquiry about this organization's complete unpreparedness for a GMG sympathetic terror organization. Normally I'd hold little hope for one's career in these circumstances, but I surmise she'll emerge unscathed thanks to the first every acquisition of one Giant Monster Girl. Alive and nearly fully intact as well. A credit to the forces in the field, your self included."

"I think I shall greatly enjoy my time here, Akane-chan, though don't let my personal gratification hinder you from your business. I imagine you wanted to give a report?" McNair inclined her head and swept an arm inside, beckoning Yurei into the office turned madhouse. In a flash the crop was out, striking two men across the rear as they sought to box up and carry out Yashiro's belongings. Immediately and without complain both dropped to their hands and knees, backs perfectly straight as boards. The Commander of the MFF did not need a level to tell this and primly sat upon one soldier while beckoning Akane to the other. "I will have proper furnishings soon, but till then, my personal troops are an acceptable substitute. Now please, regail me with your report."

After the initial surprise wore off, Akane composed a professional smile and nodded along to the woman's babbling. Yikes, the suits were after Yashiro again. This wasn't the first time they'd tried to replaced her. Won't be the last either. She was just too good at her job, and she kept her nose clean with pristine disinterest. Actually, that last reason was probably the real reason. Nobody had figured out a way to bribe, blackmail, or seduce the Commander yet. Not even Akane herself. This pink bit of fluff on the other hand...

"...A credit to the forces in the field, your self included."

"Oh, my. Thank you, but, I'm nothing specials, really. Just a paper tiger. Good with a pen and little else." She said, blushing.

"I think I shall greatly enjoy my time here, Akane-chan, though don't let my personal gratification hinder you from your business. I imagine you wanted to give a report? I will have proper furnishings soon, but till then, my personal troops are an acceptable substitute. Now please, regail me with your report."

Soldiers were not furniture. But in this woman's mind they might as well be. It was immediately clear she was dealing with a tyrant, and a petty one. It would be best to play along.

She reacted the appropriate levels of confusion, realization, and slight disgust to the display, but added in a bit of apathy. She shrugged, "Oh, how kind of you, Mrs. McNair. I've been on my feet aaall day." She regarded the "chair", as she walked over and memorized his appearance.

The unfortunate soldier heard a very quiet whisper in his ear, "My apologies.", before-- "Oof!" --a surprising amount of weight for such a small woman was placed on his back. He let out a grunt of effort. The crushing pressure lessened a bit as she used her legs to subtly take some of her weight.

To all appearances, the commander had sat on the soldier without hesitation, crossing her legs in a very lady-like manner. "O.K.!~ Now, where should I begin...? Oh, wait!" She plopped her fist into her palm and leaned forward. "Tea! I've got some lovely matcha tea back in my room, why don't we have a cup while we talk! My throat can get all dry and itchy during these long reports. Would you care for some? No? All right then." And she gave the report, clean and short, passing off the conflicting orders as 'a minor miscommunication'. She summarized with a quick report of casualties and damages. By the end of it, the arms of her 'seat' were shaking.

Akari was finally refreshed after the hubbub of the other day. “Four—or was it five?—GMGs in a single day, huh?” It was hard to believe that so much chaos could happen in a span of a dozen hours or so.

However, what was hardest to believe was the incredible stroke of luck she found herself into.

“To think I would get bumped up the ranks all at once, and even get a medal. I guess I can finally stop worrying about money?” The grin in her face was one of partial disbelief as she finished getting into her new uniform, swung her coat over her shoulders, and struck a cool pose in front of her mirror.

A few minutes later…

“May I… erm, come in?” Akari’s voice was hesitant as she reached Commander’s office and laid eyes on the scene going on there. “I’m, Lieutenant—no, I mean Major Chiyoda. I believe I was… called here because of my recent promotion? Am I… interrupting something, ma’am?” she asked in the same hesitant voice as before.

Utena Soriyu

"Alright grunts, I hope you've had a good amount of fun staring, because the show is over! I know for a fact that you've all got duties to be doing besides staring at the big bad GMG, so get a move on before I put you all on cleaning duty and desk work!" Utena called out from above the gathering crowd as they stared at Terrorkeat, much booing and disappointment rippling through the crowd as Utena established order in the already cramped bay. "I don't wanna hear it! Now get a move on, you're not getting a second warning!" She shouted, finally getting most of the people to clear out and let the scientists do their work. Speaking of...

"And you! Eggheads! What the hell is all this!?" She shouted at a nearby scientist, pointing at the electrified cage that surrounded Terrorkeat with a scowl on her face.

"W-well, Major Soriyu, these are the restraints and countermeasures we've decided to deploy to-"

"I KNOW THAT! DO I LOOK STUPID!? I'M ASKING WHY THE HELL YOU'VE GONE SO OVERBOARD!" Utena yelled, getting in the scientist's face as he backed away slightly.

"W-we're just trying to be as careful as possible! It could break out if we don't-"

"In case you've forgotten egghead, this GMG surrendered at the scene and was assisting in the apprehending of Goomie. And were it not for the conflicting orders given by a certain disgraced Commander, we would have caught Goomie with her help. So I suggest you get to work on making things comfier, before I stuff you in the cage with her." Utena growled out, staring down at the scientist with barely restrained fury in her eyes.

"I-i'll need to talk to the Commander-" He was cut off as Utena grabbed him by the collar, pulling him nose to nose with her as she got quiet. No more words, no more growling, just a silent stare that promised pain if he delayed any further. "Y-yes ma'am. I'll defer to your judgement." And with that he was released, a small wet spot on his pants as he scurried away to work on making things just slightly more comfy for Terrorkeat. Utena sighed as she ruffled her hair in frustration, these idiots were going about things the complete wrong way.

She turned to face Terrorkeat, a sad look on her face as she pulled up a chair a little bit away from the electrified cage. "We'll get this sorted out Terrorkeat. Maybe then I can actually learn your name." A hollow laugh escaped her lips as she said this, looking up at the defeated GMG as she slumped in her chair. What a mess. What an absolute mess.

For all McNair's forwardness, she wore a mask of intense focus as she listened to the report from someone she believed was competent. Her eye turned the man Akane had so seemlessly made into a seat and felt her evaluation of her rise at the hesitation to follow her superior's direction. If this wasn't a closely monitored test of character she may not have even noticed Akane's effort to take the weight off the solider. It was arm day in the gym when the call came down. Hmm, I will have to test him later to make sure he is not so easily encumbered on an average day.

While both officers made seperate plans for the human-come-furniture, they had in fact concluded the report in a stunningly short time. Inwardly applauding both her efficiency in reporting and her savy in escaping an embarrassing situation, she stood and made ready to release her only for another noteable face to appear. "Ah good, I have both the ladies of the hour before me. Splendid indeed. Perhaps we can join you for that Macha, after all, Yurei."

There was a sharp crack as her crop struck the corner of her desk, bringing the men and woman moving in her furniture to a sudden stop, backs straight even under the weight of heavy crates and other minutia. "I expect my property unpacked just as it was in my last office by the time I return. If anyone is still hear working, they can expect to be cleaning lavatories. If anything is not completed and no one remains, you can all scrup lavatories sans your uniforms, as you are unfit to serve this command!"

The chorus of affirmations was deafening in the office space, just as she liked it. Motioning for Akane to take the lead, she curled her arm around Akari's before she could think of dropping off a report and dashing away. "And you, can regale me with the battle from a less objective stand point. What was it like engaging the GMGs up close? Don't hold anything back, I want your full and honest opinion here, Major."

The pink terror was not going to abide either of them escaping anytime soon.

The click of heels laid forth an ominous precedence among the MFF personel and got closer the more the three senior officers conversed amongst themselves. Louder and louder the footfalls became until a striking figure approached the group of Akane, Akari, and McNair. "You ladies look to be having fun," came a dry, almost emotionless voice in deadpan. Despite a labcoat that displayed her as a woman of science more than anything else, only a fool would mistake her as such when she, General Kusanagi, was the highest ranking body in the underground base. "I take it you've mixed well enough around here McNair? Clearly enough to ignore the fact there is indeed a crisis on our hands. Or, maybe you forgot about the several civilian lives codename Goomie took with her," she said with tired eyes.

The second highing ranking person on base stiffened upon hearing her direct superior intercede into the conversation, freeing Akane and Akari from further inquisition as they scurried away to freedom. McNair pondered how best to approach this irritable and haggared looking Kusanagi, ultimately deciding upon honesty. "If I don't make the effort to know my subordniates, they have no reason to make the same towards me. Whether they like what they find is up to them, but I like them well informed regardless."

"And a crisis? Perhaps it is just my unfamiliarity with this operation, but I was under the impression civilian casualities were a clear and present danger in all GMG engagements. I grant that it is an awful fate, but you can't suggest they remained alive? If they didn't suffer a slow death by digestion then they likely will later when the blob grows hungry."

"Oh, I'm not so sure. Judging by our level of technology and our studies regarding GMG behavior, I predict we should be giving results to our quarries right about...now." General Kusanagi yawned as the base's lights flickered to an ominous red, the familiar droll of alarm bells singing in the corridors. Immediately the MFF moved about like a colony of insects as they ran to situate themselves to their posts. "I like to think those two ladies felt the change in the air too and rushed to the scene of actions. Your senses are growing dull, McNair. In fact, I predict we've even located Goomie-"

All MFF personel are to prepare for departure. Codename Goomie has been located on a remote island to the western seas with multiple human life signs registered. I repeat, all MFF personel are to-

"Ah, there it goes. You had best be moving out as well, new commander," said the general, still yawning and moving away to prepare her own tasks in the next coming engagement. "Truly, the MFF knows no rest for our weary bones."

"Oh do you really think the GMG is that dim-Well, I'll be damned." The pinkette deadpanned under the glow of warning lights, the sudden shift in the base's mood rattling her bones in a way that made her want to rush after the grunts and join them in the field. An urge better left suppressed as she followed after the leader of the MFF. "Commander, how do you expect us to even attempt a rescue mission? Almost all our equipment proved useless and we don't even have the advantage of local infrastructure and response units this far off shore. What, do you want to ask the caged bird if it'll fight for us?"

She snorted, finding the very idea of letting the bird out of it's cell for anythingg short of dissection to be laughable.

"You're still following me commander. You either have some very valuable topics of interest to discuss or you like wasting my time-ah, there it is." General Kusanagi didn't break her stride just because the eager pinkette wanted to talk to her. There were too many variables to consider that didn't allow for such luxury. "To begin with, the last woman in command was, frankly, an idiot who didn't consider Goomie's body type. Thankfully for you all, I've brought with me the appropriate equipment needed to incapaciate the GMG, perhaps exterminate if deemed otherwise. Some cryo-engineering should assist you." The second notion might have even made the general laugh if she didn't know the motion was wasting precious breath.

"Don't be ridiculous McNair. Unless we employ a method of absolute obedience, I wouldn't risk employing a bird to do our work-" The general stopped in her tracks. By now they were walking across a bridge that connected several floors, high above the ground level of the base. Great glass windows allowed them to have a good look of the going ons of the base, most notably the flow of MFF soldiers moving about like ants. But to the trained eye of the commander, her sight was narrowed on the whale in the room, literally, as Terrokeat's cage took up a great deal of mass in the base.

"Curious," she said, more to herself than her haphazard accomplice, seeing what no other person could. "The bird is twitching. There's something in its face that almost resembles human emotion. I wonder..."

It was a relief to hear that the arm chair leader had more forethought then the one she had let take command while Kusanagi holed up in her lab. McNair could and would fight a hopeless battle if ordered to but lacking the arms to even make an impact made any sacrifice a truly pitiable one. Her back straightened and she could walk even prouder knowing this first operation since her transfer wouldn't be a complete farce. "If that is the case then I have every confidence in our success here. I'll begin arranging a coordinated relief effort to transport the victims home and rehabilitate them. Our successes and morale shall compound exponentially."

They seemed to come to a pause over their greatest achievement to date, both woman looking down to see the odd facial ticks of the GMG. McNair's reaction would have hbeen to denounce such notions of the General, but the pinkette was a pet lover, and none could claim that their doberman didn't hold the same capacity for love, spite, jealousy, and anger as a human. "Can I call that thing fully intelligent? Perhaps not yet. But...it did surrender. Perhaps even a beast such as Terrorkeat could be conditioned. See how she avoids thrasing against the cage? She's already learned it causes pain and avoids it."

"If that thing was fully intelligent, it wouldn't have let iself be caught in the first place," the general dismissed. Ignoring McNair's wax poetic, she studied Terrorkeat's body language carefully. The MFF was clearly lacking in specialists regarding GMG behavior though perhaps that was why the general herself was ultimately put in charge of these major operations. "The way its face moves almost makes it appear like it's listening to something. A wavelength only it can hear..." Her voice trailed off as Kusanagi focused on the MFF operative next to it. She stared down the girl; even if she'd never talk to her face to face, she knew enough stories to recognize this was Utena. How interesting.

"Bring that bird to the battlefield," she ordered, already turning on her heels and briskly walking to the MFF command chamber. "Do not release it from its cage. I want all eyes on its behavior for every moment it's on that island."

"If it was averse to pain, it made a decision remarkably intelligent. A cornered animal would lash out till the end." The pinkette mused softly, watching Kusanagi's back as she stormed off before turning on her heel. She had her own to work to do, troops to organize and a relief flotilla to requisition, supply, and send off to the island at precisely the right time to give their main force time to engage Goomie's full attention.

Now she just needed several cargoe plains to haul a cage as well. Evidently, it wouldn't have taken too long for the MFF to deploy. Soon enough, several of their air and sea forces began to enter the isolated island's territory. Finding Goomie wouldn't have been hard when the island itself appeared relatively uninhabited. True to Kusanagi's word, Terrorkeat was transported as well. Still locked in her cage great cables held the massive structure aloft as it was carried by several helicopters. There they would keep her upon the island's beach side, hovering over the mass of MFF forces gathered between her and the island.

Utena Soriyu

The call was sent out, the forces mobilized quickly, soon enough the forces of the MFF would find themselves on the beaches of an uninhabited island, or it seemed uninhabited anyhow. As they approached the beach they would notice the composition of this island, a dense forest a few yards away from the sands, anything within hidden beneath the very tall trees. Anything, except for the exceptionally tall mountain smack in the middle of the island, a couple miles or so away from the beaches which they had landed in. But what was immediately worth noting however, was many of the trees on the edges of the forest were covered in slime. A clear trail left by their quarry, a path to follow as they pursued.

Utena tugged on the straps of her jetpack uncomfortably, constantly glancing back at Terrorkeat, who still looked quite miserable in her cage. At least it wasn't electrified anymore, a small comfort to the GMG sympathizer as she looked back to the forest. "Alright, this is a search and rescue op people! I know we're all riding high on our victory, but we can't get too cocky here! Capturing Codename Goomie is a secondary objective, our main goal is locating and rescuing every captive civilian on the island. We don't know how many are around, nor do we know how Goomie will react when we take em, so stay on your toes! Now move out!"

And with that the mission began, the MFF forces moving into the forest to follow Goomie's trail and find the captives she had taken. Tracking her was easy thankfully, which gave Utena and Akari some time to speak as they walked through the forest. Utena motioned for Akari to turn off her comms as she did, only speaking once the fiery haired girl did so. "So we know this isn't cool right? This whole thing going on with Terrorkeat I mean, not rescuing the people. Terrorkeat was trying to help us, but we're treating her like a monster." Utena's brow furrowed as she spoke, a very serious and worried expression on her face as they moved through the trees. "It's weird, just a few days ago I wouldn't have thought twice about this but... it's like caging up a person. A giant person yeah, but still a person. She can think, speak, reason. We just can't understand her most of the time."

Utena shook her head and sighed deeply, there was nothing they could do about it for now. They. Utena was assuming Akari still agreed with her initial assessment of the situation, god only knows how things will have changed now that she's gotten a nice cushy promotion. "I just hope command will ease up if we capture Goomie and save the civs." Utena said as she turned her comms back on, just in time too as they reached The Cavern.

It was a deep dark hole in the side of the mountain, the trail of slime ominously ending just before the entrance of The Cavern. Utena clicked on a small flashlight on her jacket and shining a light into The Cavern. The forces of the MFF entered, with Utena leading from above as she hovered near the ceiling, acting as a searchlight of sorts as they made their way further in. The walls of The Cavern were unnaturally smooth and damp, it was obvious that Goomie made The Cavern herself by eating her way through the mountain. Occasionally a bit of slime dripped from the ceiling, splattering on the ground harmlessly and giving more than one soldier an excuse to test out their new cryo gear. Worked like a charm.

But eventually, they reached the first cage. Well, calling it a cage was a bit of an exaggeration, it was more of a habitat really. Nice soft bedding made from a bunch of carpets and pillows, blankets, a two crude wooden bowls with enough food and water to feed a family for a week. And four civilians inside, one man, three women. The man was unshaven, a full beard on his face as he stared at the MFF with an inscrutable expression. The women looked similarly scruffy, as if they had been here for months. They likely had, the attacks from Codename Goomie had been happening for quite a while after all. But most curiously of all, they weren't begging for help, scrambling to the walls of the habitat to reach out for the soldiers. They were just kind of... existing. Like the MFF were curiosities rather than their saviors. But eventually one of the women spoke up, a woman with sun bleached blonde hair and a healthy tan, wearing what appeared to be a red sundress that was in surprisingly good condition. Just where was Goomie getting all this stuff?

"Um... hi? This is awkward uh, do you guys need something?"

With the timely appearance of Kusanagi, Akane took the chance to free herself from the little pink fluff's room. Working for her was going to be a pain in the tail she thought mournfully. Her next objective was to visit poor Yeshua, who was being sorely mistreated. Would that she could provide her some succor, but she would take no action that would draw suspicion. Even if she was ordered to be executed.

She swiftly and immediately made her way through the base to the massive room where Yeshua was being held. Her expression and manner was entirely the GMG-obsessed researcher she had made herself out to be, as she questioned every soldier and scientist that crossed her path, including Utena. She pointedly ignored Yeshua, herself, and the fact that she could understand what the great bird-like girl was saying.

The bindings and the cage that held the GMG were actually her designs, though the electrification was a later addition by Yashiro. It made her proud to see that they worked, however, she had her doubts if they could contain a kaiju as powerful as the Dragon Queen. She could clearly see they would have to improve on their design to have any hope against her. Maybe it could do with an extra knot or two, maybe another strap between--

The klaxon of an alarm and a loud voice jolted her from her daydreams:

All MFF personel are to prepare for departure. Codename Goomie has been located on a remote island to the western seas with multiple human life signs registered. I repeat, all MFF personel are to prepare for departure. Codename Goomie has been located on a remote island to the western seas with multiple human life signs registered.

"Ah-ha, so that little net finally landed the big fish!" She laughed over the alarm. She turned to a group of soldiers who had frozen up. "Hey, hey, get your rears in gear, we've got another GMG to catch!" Thus galvanized, they practically tripped over themselves as they scurried off. Before she left to follow them, Akane stopped in front of Yeshua and looked the GMG in the eyes. She smiled in a very uncomforting way and said quietly, her voice somehow carrying enough to reach her bound and gagged audience's ears. "Now, be a good girl, and I'll be take my time with you later. In private."

Then she left.

She was, once again, called upon to deploy on the mission to siege Goomie's base. This time, as a field agent, though her qualification for command and knowledge of GMGs were invaluable, her similarly impressive skills at stealth and infiltration were more valuable here. She was tasked with leading and coordinating several teams of Agents to rescue the humans reportedly imprisoned on Goomie's island, while she was engaged with the MFF's main forces. Of particular note, once she received the rosters, under her command were Utena and the recently promoted Akari. [red]Our paths keep crossing, and I'm not one to believe in coincidence. She thought.

The misson was quickly underway, and there they were, creeping into The Cavern. She lead the way, completely invisible, checking for traps or anything that might endanger pesky human intruders. There were none, which fit with Goomie's intelligence profile, but one could never be too cautious. Aside from quiet chatter among the troops, and the occasional plop of slime, it was eerily quiet.

Then, they came to the first cage.

"Um... hi? This is awkward uh, do you guys need something?"

At the question, directed at the visible MFF. Akane popped into existence. "We are the Monster Federation Force. And we are here to rescue you. From your...rather luxurious prison." She said dryly, taking in the creature comforts. A quick indication from her, and two of the soldiers started looking for a way to open the cage.

This was definitely unexpected. It seemed that Goomie's reasons for kidnapping wasn't for sustenance or cruelty at all. The more Akane looked, the more she was strikingly reminded of a dollhouse. And, looking past this cage, there were more--many more. There were rows of cages set up in haphazard fashion, in the nearest could be seen human-like silhouettes and more comforts, beds, tables, furniture.

However, there would be time to ponder and re-asses the GMG's weird hobbies later. For now, their mission was to rescue and evacuate the prisoners. Whether they wanted to or not. More soldiers scattered to other cages and attempted to open them.

After a moment's pause, Akane once again addressed the woman who spoke in a gentler voice. "My name is Agent Akane Yurei, and I command these troops. Tell us how you came to be here and what's transpired since. Quickly, please, we don't have much time."

Akari straightened her back and looked at the men carrying some goods out of the room, doing her best to turn a blind eye to the, more than awkward, scene she walked into.

Her determination would be challenged when the commanding duo decided to shanghai her into a tea party. Not one to turn down free snacks—or thinly veiled superior orders—Akari tagged along. However, “I—I only did the right thing, Ma’am. All of us did,” she stuttered after being accosted by Commander McNair.

“I’m sure you must have much better stories to tell, Ma’am.” She tried to circumvent the issue with a bit of flattery.

Akari’s tense mood became more evident as they approached the sector containing Terrorkeet’s cage. She could feel her palms getting moist with cold sweat as she finally made her mind and said. “Ma’am, can I ask a question?”

However, before she could articulate her question, a fourth figure came to them. This one was easily one of the top-ranking beauties Akari ever saw in the MFF HQ. Not to say anything about being the highest-ranked officer to boot!

“You know what they say: ‘We’ll always have fun as long as we are doing things we like’, Ma’am,” Akari replied in a calculated way. She breathed easy when McNair was the one being dragged around this time.

Akari may still have her questions but she knew when it was time to go. And, with a quick salute and a spin on her heels, go away she did.

※ ※ ※

“Y’know. This talk could easily come across as something suspect,” Akari said as she switched off her radio.

“Not saying that I like it or not. But, when you think about it. Isn’t this the same as the cops arresting someone for causing a ruckus and breaking others’ stuff?” she answered after Utena made her doubts known. “Though, I guess we could have tried some other things? I—I don’t think this is the best-case scenario,” she added after a brief pause.

“But it’s far from the worst as well. I think that new officer, the dark-haired cutie, may turn this around. She better do. Because the other one—that one sure ain’t. Trust me.” Akari shuddered just to think of what kinds of “unusual” ideas McNair had in mind for the GMGs if she could have it her way.

She had to put those thoughts aside soon enough. As soon as they arrived at The Cavern“Seriously, who comes up with these names?”—and found their victims doing very well and fine. So much so that it looked like they had zero intention of going away on their own.

“Hey, guys, I don’t know, but it looks like these people might have been slightly brainwashed,” Akari said as she approached one of the captives’ habitat and tapped the wall once or twice.

Who would have thought that Seika didn’t have one secret life, but rather two? A seemingly normal, everyday girl who was both a GMG and, in truth, also a rising idol. A true Diva, charming the masses with her melodies.

Yes, Seika’s true identity was none other than Haruka Hoshino, the hit idol. Well, perhaps she couldn’t trick HART’s command, but at least she was sure that the other GMGs didn’t know about it.

Thinking about the other GMGs.

“Can’t we do something about Yeshua? Even though we had no choice, I feel bad after leaving her behind.” Those were the first words to leave Haruka’s mouth after she returned to HART’s mothership, a day after their failed attempt to stop Gummie’s foolishness. They were followed quickly by, “What if they are conducting inhumane experiments on her or something like this? Looking at the way they captured her, it would hardly be a surprise if they don’t.”

“You’re with me on this, aren’t you, Tomoko?” Haruka said to the lab coat-wearing, blonde midget.

The operation was proceeding smoothly. Indeed, within mere minutes of the initial landing, MFF forces had already made contact with Goomie’s prisoners. All of this and more were relayed back to the commanding officer; and the good professor could already see this operation closing soon. All that was left was to root out Goomie herself, flush her out of her hiding hole. Kusanagi observed the screens idly from command, noting the swift progress. But her sight was not completely on the MFF. She had confidence the troops had some semblance of common sense among them to do their job and get it right this time.

No, her eyes were set on Terrorkeat. Having the bird brought to the field, she studied the GMG’s reactions and body language like a hawk. A black dot filled in one of her ears and, if any of the scrambling officers bothered to pay attention, they’d hear noise coming from the other end of the transmitter, directly patched to the cameras trained on Terrorkeat. There was, after all, reason why the bird was reacting the way she was. As thoughtless as the GMGs were, they were still animals to be studied and, possibly, controlled to mitigate their behavior and damages. But those were all lofty goals for the future. For now, she watched and waited.

Indeed, there was something new in the island’s air that only another GMG could sense. A wave of frequency only picked up by Terrorkeat and Goomie was what was prevailing in the air. The beat and frequency of it, initially picked up back in Center City, was now even stronger on the island. However, the source seemed directed more towards Terrorkeat than Goomie, though more than likely it would have drawn out both. It almost sounded like a voice to the bird, a familiar one at that. Whatever her reaction may be, it would be recorded and noted by Kusanagi.

As the MFF soldiers began the tedious process of transporting the captured civilians, a tremor unfelt by humans passed through the island. Indeed, Akane, Terrorkeat, and Goomie would feel it well, rattling through their cores. There was little doubt to them; a new GMG was roaming around somewhere on the island, unseen and unheard. Specifically unseen, as something gently scraped against Terrorkeat’s cage, despite there being nothing at large or at present. To the human eye, it looked as if the wind was rustling the metal, and yet….Kusanagi narrowed her sights and opened a line of communication.

“McNair. How’s the weather down there,” she asked casually. “Oh? Fair skies and no winds? I see. No winds at all.” Her gaze hardened over on Terrorkeat’s screen. “….set your weapons to stun. Why? Oh, just a hunch. You know how I am with hunches. Now that’s an order.”

From the perspective of Commander McNair, the operation was going smoothly. Knowing their adversary, however, she had concerns that would turn upon their heads if the MFF regulars didn't keep on their toes. As much as she praised their accomplishments as of late, it was hard to blindly place her faith in soldiers she hadn't trained or worked alongside as of yet. She stilled her tongue, opting to watch them act rather then direct on a tactical level, a decision she could make easier knowing the highest authority in the MFF was directly supervising.

Thus she found herself immersed in the MFF beachhead upon the island, confidant that the triage center already established would be sufficient for handling the no doubt malnourished and tormented captives of a depraved slime. She had their requisitioned fleet blockading the island with depth charges aplenty if the slime had any notion of slinking away again, she'd find that there were very few things that could survive a bomb detonating underwater. Or in this case, several hundred very large bombs.

Yet while she thought of her humanitarian efforts, it was far too easy to direct her gaze to the cage where they kept their prize, Terrorkeat herself appearing rather more active and alert out here. "I'm unable to tell if this is a reaction to being outdoors or if she's simply acclimated to captivity. Then again, this could be a reaction to another GMG. We'll need to run more tests to eliminate the extrenuous possibilities, but if the latter is correct we could have a means of detection."

While the pink tyrant openly mused on the nature of titanic lifeforms, the one in question was trying her utmost not to shatter ear drums by screaming her alarm. There was no hiding the unconscious mannerisms, such as her puffed up plumage and the expression on her face, for there was indeed a GMG in the area and it wasn't goomie. Surrounded by MFF as she was, it took a great deal of concentration to curl the air in such a way as to carry her voice in a narrow cone. "Setsu?"

The rattling against Terrorkeat's cage paused briefly as the wind carried a frequency only GMGs could distinguish. Then it began again, a creature unseen as more rattling was carefully emphasized upon the steel holding the bird. It grated, low enough to remain hidden in plain sight as if something was trying to saw through the metal. Evidently, the owner couldn't much say anything without revealing herself and so she continued to work in silence despite the bird's concerns. Even now she worked just beyond McNair's sight and vision, a slight distortion against the air and backdrop, but otherwise completely invisible to the eye.

"What are you doing? If the cage falls apart they'll blast us before we can take off. Setsu, you can't...you were supposed to be enjoying your nap..." The bird whispered, expression seeming to fall as she settled her eyes on the distortion, knowing it for what it was. She ached to reach out for her, but the MFF weren't exactly being subtle around her about their plans and she couldn't stand the idea of this invisible GMG being hurt for her.

It was becoming difficult not to speak up and tell the bird to shut up. The scraping along the cage was clearly unfettered nor saw any reason to stop. After all, it wasn't like the new GMG had no plans in mind as soon as the cage was open. Though the bird brought up a point; even from the island's interior any present GMG could see the island was surrounded, be it by soldiers or decisive traps in place. Their only advantage was the fact no one detected the new monster yet. However, if Terrorkeat could easily fly them out of proximity...indeed, it was enough assurance for the scraping to keep going before some of the bars began to wear down and cut loose gingerly.

Down below the titanic girls, the Commander recieved a curious message from her own superior and turned to look towards the tents, finding not so much as a soft breeze to move those light canvas sheets. If it came from anyone in the general ranks she'd have taken it for idle chatter, but Kusanagi had immediately struck her as a painfully practical woman.

A snap of her crop had a serviceman at her side and she relied the orders under the guise of banal chatter between a bored officer and their put upon subordinate. It would pass as quickly as gossip does, an infection that had weapons armed with non-lethal measures and the seaward vassals ready to rain down quick drying foam canisters to carpet bomb an area in breathable containment foam. An invention she rather adored, but the MFF hadn't seen fit to stock given the sheer size of their foes.

Yeshua, on the other hand, was beginning to openly panic as the invisible kaiju ignored her warnings and continued cutting. It was a slow cut but it wouldn't take much progress for the humans to be alerted. Her heart dropped like a stone as the first bars cut and it would only be a matter of time before they fell entirely. "Guh! I'm sorry, Setsu, but this is for your own good!"

The covert wind tunnel dispersed and Terrorkeat began living up to her name, screeching and thrashing against her cage as she threw herself about, denting the metal with ease but not pushing hard enough to break free yet. More importantly she hurled herself forward, masking the invisible kaiju's work with her own body and making a wall of wind slam forward, upturning tents and toppling humans. "Get out of here before they catch you!"

"You idiot!" If the humans didn't discover her before, they certainly would now. However, not all of Terrorkeat's panic was misgiven and indeed, the invisible Kaiju narrowed her sights. With the bird already squawking and moving about, it would have been easy now to fully commit. Commit she did, the flash of sharpened claws slicing effortlessly through the metal now that it had no electricity running through its bars. Large chunks of shrapnel fell to the earth with low thuds while the same glint was aimed at the bonds holding Terrorkeat now. "As soon as you get out, fly us out of here," was the new GMG's response, making no effort to be subtle as she slashed. To the MFF, it was as if the air itself was tearing into Terrorkeat's restraints.

"What the- Fire at the cage!" The commander barked sharply, burying her amazement towards Kusanagi's instincts with the cold resolve of active combat, directing the MFF being buffeted by winds and having their eardrums burst to rally and strike back. Being prepared had helped, but a sudden blow was a sucker punch regardless once it hit you. Worse still was with the cage in the center of their encampment, they couldn't drop any heavy ordinance on Terrorkeat, or even use their most experienced operators as they were already out chasing down Goomie's hiding place.

Which just meant McNair herself would take all the satisfaction of bolting into the command tent and re-activating the electricity to the entire cage on it's highest setting. There was an immediate reaction and the screech turned into a strangled sound as more volts then would come out of a wind farm pumped into a giant bird...and oddly enough seemed to jump out towards something unseen latched onto the cage.

Indeed, Terrorkeat's screech was joined by another, the ground shaking as something was thrown back and landed away from the cage. Smoke emanated and rose from a large figure that shimmered against the air itself as if melted with it. But the camoflauge wore off soon enough, revealing to the MFF a newfound GMG, one that was still groaning along the island's beach front and shaking her head to clear the daze. "Ah crap, now you've gone and done it Yeshua," the feline GMG growled, though to the MFF it sounded more feral than it was. No one on the field was more excited about the prospect of a newly discovered monster than the one ironically not on it.

"Very fascinating," Professor Kusanagi mused from her position. Despite her nearly dead tone, anyone could see the shine of scientific inquiry in her gaze. "A cat who can cloak itself. I can imagine the advantages that might have for you, no named cat, misdirecting attention, almost appearing in two places at once. I dub you Schrödinger." Kusanagi opened comm links with McNair once more. "You know what to do. Stop standing around marveling at the thing; you can do so later up close, after you collar it," she reminded the commander.

"Understood." Was her clipped response, aware she was under a microscope here. So were the troops who took the reprieve from Terrorkeat to aim for the new and still unbound GMG, all so very eager to share in Akari's acclaim and capture a GMG themselves. Cable guns fired, launching barbed hooks that passed over Setsuna's groaning form and speared the ground or trees while the soldier anchored the weapon itself to the ground. On it's own? It had no chance of tripping a GMG up. Two dozen of them, thought? Four dozen? That got McNair's heart racing, especially when the troops with liquid nitrogen got within range and began hosing down Shrodinger's body. "It was meant for Goomie, but few beasts can handle such extreme cold without succumbing. Now men, bring her down now!"

"You couldn't have picked a better vacation spot," Schrödinger continued to snark, glaring up at the bird that was usually the cause of their troubles and misfortune. Such was also the case now as the humans began firing upon her. What she expected to be bullets and explosives were instead tools of capture. The cat's eyes flickered immediately, body going limp for a split moment before the cables began passing over her and pinning her to the ground. Only Terrorkeat saw the illusion; an invisible force passed out of the cat's back like water, gathering up behind her, before reforming back into Schrödinger, albeit invisible once again. As the MFF continued their work handling and freezing the cat clone, the real Schrödinger slunk off to give herself distance, already moving about and settling in position to pounce like the predator she was. Her sights narrowed on McNair, hidden in plain sight, as her claws flashed. Unlike the bird, she had no qualms with ending human lives when need be.

The MFF worked efficiently and zealously to pin Schrodinger and, miraculously, that seemed enough to bring the feline down as she flopped back under the weight of cables of frozen aerosol. McNair was surprised, as it had been humanities experience that it wasn't this easy, even with the sudden shock from the cage to stun her. Even Terrorkeat had taken something of a beating over the day before succumbing.

Fitting then that Terrorkeat herself would save McNair as a rueful groan from the singed, quivering bird had her look to it, only to find it incredibly bizarre it's attention was not towards the downed Schrodinger, but another point of open air entirely. "She could see the other GMG all along...All troops, we're targetting a decoy. The real GMG is over there!"

She pivoted on her heel, crop snapped out in Setsuna's direction with a commanding presence that had troops snap to it and fire heavily without restraint in that direction. Even then McNair was glaring boldly at the space as she raised her comms to the naval blockade."Request saturation fire around the beachhead. Full encirclement with a narrow gap for inland ingress and seabound eggress. Fire!"

The roar of thunder answered her call, distant streaks whistling to meet the pink tyrant's demands.

Schrödinger cursed, which sounded more like a monstrous roar instead to the humans. Regardless, Terrorkeat's movement proved to be too valuable for the MFF, especially when their command was suddenly more competent than what she expected or what was told. Her paw now lashed forward in efforts to swipe McNair dead on the point, either by slicing her apart or batting her away to be tossed like a ragdoll. But she didn't get to feel the human's corpse beneath her paws when she was suddenly lurched back, the MFF under McNair's command reacting in kind to her orders and opening all fire on Schrödinger. Gasping, the cat had little time to react and pull out another decoy before the cables were shot and sprung out. At once her attention was focused less on McNair and more on cutting herself loose and slicing apart the cables that were still being fired on it. The addition of the liquid nitrogen and now open fire from the sea was doing well in making her panic rise and attention disorientated.

There was a sudden gust of wind that tore the hat from Commander McNair's head and it didn't take a genius to know she just had a brush with death that wasn't even visible to her. Her arm snapped back, snatching the headwear by the brim and firmly re-affixing it, secure in the knowledge her troops would fight all the hard seeing their commanding officer in the thick of it with them. Morale was important, especially so when facing such an imposing foe. "This new GMG has made her last appearence as my enemy. Soldiers, stand clear and you! I need your cable gun!"

The trooper threw the weapon without even considering her rank, but she had no issue catching the cable gun. Her crop was held between her arm and her side as she aligned it with the invisible lump now enmeshed in wire and frost before firing directly over it. The barb fell short of Schrodinger's full bulk and struck it somewhere in the back but Mcnair was already tossing the cable gun behind her.

It made contact with the electrified cage and the current jumped from the one cable to the GMG and all the cables in contact with her, an electrified net to pin her in place for the bombardment to bury her with ease. "Don't underestimate the human spirit!"

Between being caught in a literal web of cables and her own panic, Schrödinger had little time or attention for McNair. Thus, she hardly felt the pinprick of a new cable strike her backside, latching onto her while the other was shot elsewhere. However, it also became clear she couldn't ignore McNair forever. Indeed, a sudden jolt of electricty, the same volts as before in fact, suddenly halted all her movement and cleared her mind of anything else but the striking pain. The cat cried out, her cloned double flickering out completely as the real GMG was revealed once more to human eyes. She spasmed and writhed about her wired net, the same electricity from the cage now surrounding her on all sides thanks to the wire. Never one for stamina, it wasn't long before she was left groaning and smoking anew, only this time with an exhausted finality about her voice. Then the cold came creeping up her legs, holding her in place further as something soft but sticky began to rain. If Schrödinger could think straight, she could have sworn she was being fired on by foam of all things.

McNair called the blockade, providing the exact coordinates for Schrodinger now that she was revealed in full. Quickly the feline disappeared, buried under a mountain of foam that deprived her of any and all leverage. Strength and size meant nothing without the leverage to use it, something that amused McNair to no end and brought a cheer of victory to the gathered troops. There was still the operation to secure Goomie's captives and eliminate that slimy threat but for the sake of keeping up the sky high morale, she raised her crop in a closed fist and joined the shouted cheer.

Utena Soriyu

The woman in the cage jumped slightly as Akane appeared seemingly out of thin air, yelping in surprise as she answered the question posed. It took her a few moments to regain her composure, but soon enough she was as relaxed as before, albeit visibly confused for some odd reason. "Rescue us? Oh uh, no thanks. I appreciate the thought, but I'm fine with staying here. Ken, Sumire, either of you want to leave?" She looked over her shoulder at the other two captives, only for them to respond in the negative as they went back to... whatever it is they were doing. Reading a magazine apparently, though it looked a bit damp and damaged.

Opening the cages was incredibly easy for the MFF troopers, as they would find there were actually makeshift doors built into each one, all unlocked and opened with hardly any struggle. No, the real struggle was in getting the people to come out, as most of them were in similar states as the woman they first encountered. A select few certainly looked happy to leave, fresher acquisitions from the look of things, but for the most part there was a general effort to resist rescue, as if they were happy with their lives as playthings for the GMG.

Akane looked to be in a rush as she asked the captive further questions, a stark contrast to the "prisoner" who looked quite relaxed and was definitely taking her time in thinking about it. "Ummm, it's kind of hard to keep track of days here. So liiiiike... I guess we were the first people goo girl adopted? It was a while ago, I definitely know I had never heard of her before. Anyways, it was pretty scary at first, we were all rushing into the shelters and stuff when she scooped me up, it was kind of hard to breathe and I think I might have passed out. I dunno, it was all kind of a blur. I woke up in this cave with Ken and Sumire, we were all really scared and stuff because goo girl was totally gone. We left the cave and tried to figure out where we were, but we got really lost in the forest, almost got eaten by like, a tiger or something."

"It was a panther Yukari!" Ken called out as he turned the page, smiling at whatever he was reading. Akari tapped on the wall of the habitat to get someone's attention, an older woman in her 40s, only for said woman to completely ignore her as she looked deeper into The Cavern.

"Right, panther. Anyways, goo girl totally smushed the panther, but not like killing it, she just kind of smushed it around until it ran away. Then she took us back to the cave, dumped a bunch of like, trees and stuff on the ground. It took a while to figure out what she wanted, but she was kinda trying to figure out what we eat I guess? It was a long process. So we got to know her after a while, turns out she's really nice, just kind of dumb and stuff. But like... yeah. We're all cool here." Yukari smiled as she fiddled with her hair, looking deeper into The Cavern as if she was looking for something. "Anyways, you guys should probably leave soon. Or don't, it's pretty chill here. She likes collecting us, it's like going to a cat cafe or something for her. Every now and then she has everyone like, start climbing on her and stuff, she kind of burbles around which is like her laughing. It's super cute."

Almost at the same time as the chaos on the beach began, a similar tension began to build within The Cavern as a bubbling sound began to echo down the corridor. Utena was the first to notice as she whipped out her sword, the edge creating mist as it's cooled surface clashed with the warm humid air within The Cavern. The bubbling got louder and louder, closer and closer to the group as every single prisoner in the cages looked into the depths, until finally... it stopped.

This would be the only warning for the MFF as several dozen tendrils of slime shot through the darkness, slapping down on those MFF members who were foolish enough to go to deep and swallowing them into their slimy embrace. They screamed as they were assimilated into the deep blue fluid, until their heads were covered and they were silenced, only then would the tendrils pull back just as quickly, dragging the poor jobbers into the darkness and the unknown.

"They'll be fine." Yukari spoke up as Utena stared on, covering her mouth to conceal her features. Most would assume she might be shocked, possibly horrified, likely infuriated, but in reality she was just trying to cover her blush. "Goo girl kinda just wants to like... break in her new pets I guess. Everyone goes through it, but she's gotta take an extra long time with you MFF guys. They'll come around though."

Current Status: Three Times as Passionate as an Ordinary Agent
“Oh well, it seems like this is my specialty. Search and rescue operations are what we of the Ground Forces do better. Even when the victims don’t want to be rescued,” Akari cracked her knuckles and flashed a confident smile. “I’m sure you guys will feel better as soon as you are back at home. Right, Boss?” she said first to the brainwashed prisoners and then to Akane.

“Ok. Please, grab anything you may think you need, form a single file, and come with us. I promise we won’t let anything bad happen to you,” the redhead said as she began to orient the captives.

A moment later, the order that the MFF agents were trying to establish was shattered by a torrent of bubbling goo.

“Hey, let go of me!” Akari yelled as she was captured along with some of the other troops that were helping with the attempted evacuation. “Ok, you asked for it. Flame on!” she shouted as one of her legs was about to be completely gulped down. And, as Akari did so, the slime around her was vaporized almost instantly by a blast of crimson flames, allowing her to step away from the gooey trap.

“Come on guys, don’t just stand there! We have people counting on us here, we can’t let ourselves be taken down by so little,” she shouted to anyone who was able to move, as she tried to free the trapped agents with little success.

She was forced to let go when they were dragged out of the cave. But, “That’s not going to end like this. Anyone who can move, help get the captives out of here ASAP! Don’t worry, we’ll get the others out of Goomie’s grip, right?” Akari directed the troops before looking at Utena and Akane.

She didn’t wait for a reply before rocketing off the cave, though. She was sure that the three of them together could take on a single GMG.

“Ok, I don’t wanna harm you, Bubble Gum, but you gotta get through me first if you wanna threaten my friends! I hope you like your food spicy, ‘cause things are about to get hot!” Akari shouted as she burst out of the cave with a flaming sword in a hand and a gun in the other.

“Flame on! Flame on! Flame on!” she continued to yell as she darted around cutting Goomie’s tentacles, freeing as many captive MFF agents as she could. All while looking for the GMG’s true position.

Akane Yurei

Listening to the "captives'" story, the MFF commander just looked amused. "A strange turn of events, but given what we know, your tale certainty makes sense. It's unfortunate you don't want to leave, but I'm afraid you have no choice in the matter. Goomie may have treated you well, but we can't rule out any kind of-" Midsentence, her little black dot of an earpiece stated buzzing. She put a finger on the button as she finished her thought, "-chemical brainfuckery." She finished. "Yes?" She also nodded in acknowledgement of Akari's bold words, but then her brows knotted into a frown as she tried to make sense of the frantic voice on the other end. "Slow down, what about anther GMG?"

And that's when all hell broke loose. Screams echoed through The Cavern as columns of slime burst from the darkness, splattering several soldiers and pulling them deeper. Even as she focused on the voice coming through her earpiece, Akane's reaction speed was second to none. Kogitsune-maru leap from its sheath, singing its song of flame. Its draw sent a bolt of fire hurtling down the cavern, erupting on the nearest tentacle, causing it to drop an MFF soldier.

"I see. Quite the surprise. We seem to have encountered Goomie here, ourselves, so things will be a bit busy. No, no, stay on the line. This won't take long." Raising her voice, she said loudly, "Use the cages as cover, and mind both the ceiling and walls. Team B, take charge of the captives. Team A, use formation Epsilon, Front row protect Team B, back row focus on freeing the front if they get grabbed."

Akari was already charging in, swinging and screaming. Akane smiled faintly at the girl's recklessness. Independence was something she encouraged. Though it made teamwork more difficult, the trade-off was that it allowed people to use their own talents to their upmost.

Knowing Goomie didn't track with her eyes, Akane instead used a combination of her mask and her own powers to erase her presence from the GMG's senses while remaining visible. Virtually soundless, she followed Akari's example, though keeping pace with the rest of her troops, as they charged forward, weaving between cages while dodging or destroying slimy tentacles, searching for Goomie's real body.

Working in tandem, the MFF were evacuating the captives at a brisk pace, even the once that didn't want rescuing.

Utena Soriyu

The MFF personnel were whipped into a frenzy by Akari's passion and Akane's orders, thrust into gear as they moved to save the captured MFF members before anyone else could even react. Protests from the willing captives was summarily ignored as the rank and file began working on breaking open the cages and moving the civilians out of The Cavern. Utena too was shaken out of her... whatever it was you could call what she was feeling at the moment, realizing that she still had a job to do.

"Right! Can't let myself be outdone by the new Major so quickly!" Utena said as she slapped her cheeks, activating her wings and taking to the air as she followed Akari deeper into The Cavern. They were fast, fast enough to catch up to the tentacles as they withdrew, even fast enough to actually cut up a few of the tentacles before they could disappear from sight completely, freeing their prisoners as they advanced further and further in. But soon enough they were surrounded only by complete darkness, only the light of Akari's flames and the comparatively weak glow of Utena's flashlight.

But then a familiar face of goo slithered out of the darkness, towering over the MFF officers with a lasivicious grin on her watery face. Utena squinted at Goomie carefully as she drew her sword, something almost immediately feeling off about the GMG she was so familiar with. "Hey Akari... she's smaller than usual." Her eyes scanned over the GMG as something else clicked in her mind. "And the guys she just captured aren't in her." Indeed they weren't, her gooey body was suspiciously absent of any recently captured MFF personnel.

A loud plop sound echoed through The Cavern behind them as Utena turned around, back to back with Akari as the puzzle solved itself. "We might be in a bit of trouble." Utena muttered as she stared down a second Goomie, passed out MFF members plastered to the ceiling above her with a gooey tape.

“Don't they say the best things come in small doses? Like that expensive premium pudding,” Akari answered the comment with a joke. She stared at the darkness dyed in flickering crimson, trying to make up their surroundings.

It didn't take long for her to notice what Utena was talking about. “I guess we got in a sticky situation, right?” Akari joked once more as she rested her blade on her shoulder. “Anyway we might convince you to let our people go, Bubble Gum? I might wear red, but I'm not a blood knight. If we could get along it would be for the best. But, if the answer is no...”

“You better get ready to become toast,” Akari finished her declaration with a heroic grin.

The giant goo girl's demeanor didn't shift in the slightest as Akari pumped herself up, perhaps Goomie found it even cuter that such a tiny little thing would try to make itself look so big and threatening~ And the flying one, she looked so concerned, that worried little face of hers was absolutely adorbs~!

"Oh my gosh, you two are just precious!" The two slimes burbled in unison, only Akane able to understand them as they began to inch forwards. A tendril of slime whipped out from the Goomie near Utena, moving towards her face to try and pet her, maybe suck her in, but the veteran MFF soldier was ready for such a thing. Her sword flashed through the air, leaving a neon blue trail in it's wake as it slapped away the tendril. The new weaponry was very effective against the slime, freezing the tip of it's limb instantly as Goomie suddenly jerked back.

"Cold! Cold cold cold!" The slime cried out as it reflexively backed off, the one near Akari cringing in pain as well as it reflexively struck out in the direction of Utena and Akari. Seemed like there was going to be a fight after all.

Gunfire and hisses from cryogenic weaponry filled The Cavern as the MFF forces reacted to the GMG's sudden ambush. However, the second goo body had seperated half the advance force, and sown confusion in her wake.

Akane had seen the second body just a few seconds before it dropped. Her stealth, however, had prevented her from giving a warning shout, she had only managed urgant hand-signals. She mnaged to slip away easily, but her troops weren't so fortunate.

Couriously, however, she didn't immediately join the fray. Instead, she found a crevice out of sight and began to concentrate. Goomie would suddenly hear a voice in her mind.

Hello Goomie, darling. My name is Mako, I am another kaiju, like you. I came to warn you, but I am afraid I was too late. Listen, you must flee. The MFF are too strong for you to handle alone. You remember that giant birdy from yesterday? They captured her and they will do the same to you. If you give up your humans, you should be able to escape. You can always get more, but only if you are free. As a show of good faith, here: Images passed into Goomie's mind, of traps and mines surrounding the island, and the impending MFF forces. However, there was also clearly outlined a safe route that avoided both. If you follow this, you will escape unharmed. Make sure you leave a little of yourself behind for the MFF to defeat and think you are dead. This is the best chance I can give you. And the presence withdrew, not waiting for a responce.

Akane slipped out behind the pillar, silent as a mouse, sword sheathed. Several quick steps brought her within striking range, then a graceful leap brought her face-to-back of Goomie's "head". Kogitsune-maru flashed, and a flaming gash opened up across her upper torso. Then, the MFF commander was passed her. She landed near Akari and Utena, quickly spinning to face the closest sentiant blob. "I disagree. Pudding is best in large amounts, eaten spoonful by spoonful." She said casually.

“I guess this is a no, then?” Akari shook her head disapprovingly. Why things always had to end like this? Her slight exasperation didn't forbid her from sidestepping Goomie's attack before retaliating with a flaming slash of her own. In a 1v1 this might have been a dire situation indeed. But, as a group, that was hardly an inconvenience. The same cave that trapped them was a much most restrictive place for a GMG, after all.

“Well said, Boss. Though, I guess we got more than our share of jello right here,” Akari said as she aimed at the slime gluing the troops to the cave's ceiling and fire a few explosive rounds, freeing them from their sticky binds.

Goomie's head jerked to the left and right as someone suddenly began talking to her. It was super weird though, like they were talking to her from inside her head instead of inside the cavern, it was really really weird. "Nooooooo, they're my humans!" She burbled as she was attacked from all sides by MFF troops with cryo grenades. Then a bunch of pictures started appearing in her mind, which was making her miss every time she tried to hit a group of the meanie soldiers, it was super hard to focus on all this stuff going on at once!

The Goomie closer to Utena suddenly cried out in pain as she was struck by something really hot, and then there was another meanie soldier with a pointy hot metal! The Goomies pouted as they focused on the group of MFF officers, striking out at them with a hail of gooey whips. Utena rocketed into the air to split Goomie's attention, dodging and weaving through the storm of slime as she struck out at those tendrils which she couldn't avoid.

"Focus your attention on the one closer to the entrance, that way we can get the rest of the platoon together!" Utena called out to everyone, making her way towards the Goomie behind them to begin striking at her body with sub zero strikes.

Akane's sword split tentacle after tentacle, splattering the ground with gallons of the stuff. She ducked and weaved, he expression bored, almost confused. It seemed to her like the GMG was just flailing about with out any real thought behind it. She definitaly showed no intention of fleeing, which disapointed Akane beneath her cool facede. She could only play her part and hope the slime girl was trickier then she seemed.

On the bright side, should she be subdued, that would make one more research subject. A small lascivious grin tugged at her face. Either way, she won.

"Good plan, meanwhile we can distract the furthest to buy time. Akari, and you lot." She pointed her katana, singling out a squad. "With me. Let's halve this pudding and eat it too." A quiet chorus of groans and a few chuckles echoed the bad pun.

"Ready? Forward!" In a v formation, and yelling their battle cries, they charged the second gooey monster.

“Sure thing! We are going to break out of this with the power of our passion,” Akari said as she followed Akane's directions, dashing away while avoiding Goomie's aimless attacks. Was she even trying to hit something or just flaying around blindly? It was hard to guess when their foe was a literal blob monster.

“Flame on!” Akari shouted as concentrated her fire power in her sword, and hack at Goomie, trying to secure an opening for the others to either attack or escape.

Akari and Akane were not far off in assuming that Goomie was in fact just flailing blindly, as she hadn't really been in "fights" before now. Sure she had done plenty of city raids to acquire more pets, but whenever the MFF truly showed up in force she would always find a way to slip away at the last second. Never going into a direct confrontation, as getting hit with all the fire and stuff hurt a lot! So did all this cold stuff too, why did they keep hurting her?

The efforts of the combined MFF was enough to quickly freeze up the slime monsters, the coordinated assault from everyone was too much for even two small GMGs to handle. The Goomie at the entrance was burned away by reinforcements who had just finished evacuating the civilians, while the Goomie further inside had nowhere to go but deeper into The Cavern as she was pushed back more and more. One last strike from Utena and the rest of the cryo troops was all that was needed to freeze up the slime completely as Utena released a swarm of freezing missiles from her wings.

Goomie's capture was a rather quiet affair compared to the goings on at the beach, Utena couldn't help but muse on just how easy things had been. Goomie was obviously a... well not a threat per se, but definitely not a GMG who could easily integrate into society like Terrorkeat. So she had no qualms with imprisoning the slimy monster like she had with Terrorkeat. But at the same time... something about this still felt wrong. Like they were getting too good at this almost. Putting down and caging up GMGs like they were nothing. It was disconcerning to say the least, especially for someone who appreciated GMGs as much as Utena. "Are we really doing the right thing?" She mumbled as everyone exited the cave, staring at her cryo sword with a uncomfortable eye.
