Hey, everyone, I decided to do a run of the published campaign in Acquisitions Incorporated just for a little fun while stuck in the house all day. Before we move onto what this campaign is about and such, I figure I'd let everyone know what kind of DM I am. So, I have run a few real life campaigns and right now am currently running Dragon Heist in the Forums and another campaign for my friends over Discord since we can't get together to play right now. I want to get more practice in using the forums as a way to do campaigns. I tend to follow the rules for the most part, and usually don't allow homebrew for the most partven the text based format. Also, just as a disclaimer, I haven't gotten around to watching Penny Arcade yet, but I am planning on watching it soon. If you have any questions for me, I will gladly answer them.

Now for what I expect for this campaign. I want players that can post at least twice a week. I am not going to implement a hard roster for things unless we are in initiative. I will be allowing up to 6 people to join the campaign.

The Campaign

The forgotten Realms are full of powerful factions vying for control, and for a time, each has had the upper hand. The Harpers. The Zhentarim. The Lords' Alliance. The Order of the Gauntlet. The Emerald Enclave. I might be forgetting one or two. There's a bunch of these things.

If none of those organizations can help you, consider Acquisitions Incorporated. Called "Faerun's Definitive Adventuring Brand" by...well, by the company itself, they've been in operation for more than a decade, and it's mostly been fine. For them. I should emphasize that it's been fine for them specifically. It's not always fine for the people who hire them, and it's definitely not fine for the people they're hired to rob.

Truth is, though, when you're just starting out in the adventuring business, it might be nice to have a leg up. It can be a big help to have access to the powerful artifacts, expertise, and jobs that Acquisitions Incorporated has to offer a new franchise. Plus there are always openings available.

Just try not to think about why.

Acq Inc will have you owning and managing your own franchise along with taking on adventuring tasks for the Head Office. Don't worry though, your hired help will take care of your business while you are away. This campaign starts off with you going into Head Office for the chance at an internship or franchise opportunities and from there you will be getting dragged into missions to find an the pieces of an ancient relic. Too bad for you that a rival corporation is also interested in this relic. You will be fighting monsters, managing a business, and keeping your rivals away from a possibly dangerous ancient artifact.

Character Creation

Acq Inc has a few changes to character creation that I wanted to make sure people know about. For now I am just adding the additions Acq Inc has for races, backgrounds and spells. When we get to the point in the campaign where owning a franchise becomes relevant (at 3rd level) I will add in those relevant details.

New Race

In addition to the new race in Acq Inc, I will allow players to choose from the races in the PHB and Volo's and Mordenkainen!

New Spells

Along with the new spells comes the new spell component royalty whenever using a spell including spell scrolls that have a royalty component, you must have sufficient funds on your person to pay. Typically you will that cost is only 1gp. You cannot circumvent the royalty component, but you may try to roll a DC 15 Arcana check. If you succeed on this check the payment is taken from a random creature within 10 feet of you.

Usually I just watched their animated recaps and some clips from of the Acquisitions Incorporated live series, but have watched and enjoyed a couple of episodes of the C Team. When they published their book with the various company positions, growth, and an adventure, it made me really curious and wanted to give it a try.

I may be interested as I want to try playing my lighthearted elven fighter who is a bit of a tired looking drifter, but is actually taking time to analyze the area and situation around him. He finds himself adventuring as he tries to discover what he wants to with his long life and does so by traveling to find interesting things that may bring that opportunity of discovery. So owning and managing a franchise along with taking on adventuring tasks for the Head Office may be quite the opportunity that he has been searching for.

But for a question, what level would we be starting at? I'll probably start on the character sheet once more people who are interested arrived.

@Expolar We'll be starting at level 1. The adventure goes from 1-6 and ends with you guys reaching level 7.

Your character idea sounds great!

Before I try to make a character I must ask, can we multiclass or is that not allowed

Yeah, this sounds like a good fit for "Shadow Thumper", who's a Gnomish... I'm leaning towards Bard, considering his sort of Jack-of-All-Trades shtick he's got going.

@Blizz Yeah, you can multiclass if you would like, but everyone is starting at level 1, so you wouldn't really be able to until later

@WanderingDragon Sounds like a really fun character!

@Zitacamron95Okay then. Have to make a decision about his character, but if this is starting level 1 (I HATE starting at level 1, but meh), this should be very early in Shadow Thumper's career. So, I think I'll start him out as a Rogue

@WanderingDragon I get that, sorry, should have mentioned that earlier but the campaign is level 1-6 and I may decide to continue past that if people are interested and I have the time.

@Zitacamron95

You should see a character sheet by the weekend. Need to do some thinking about how I want to build the character, and I'm settling on a stealth/support character... Well, an eventual stealth/support build.

Are you still in the market for players? I'd like to play either a monk or maybe an Artificer if you'd allow it? As for race those Verdans look pretty cool and I might be one of them or possibly a Lizardfolk. I'm not super set on a character concept yet, I just think this sounds pretty cool.

If you aren't tired of me yet and still need players, I'd definitely be interested in trying out a Verdan! Not sure about class yet - a paladin or a cleric maybe, depending on how the stat rolls go.

I just realized you said point buy was an option - for some reason I thought the alternative was a standard array. In that case I'm actually doing that for once. Gonna do Verdan Forge Cleric who grew up among dwarves - has a dwarven name and values, at least for now. But things might change over time since that's kinda the Verdan shtick.

Anyone got ideas for their corporate role yet? Though I guess that would be 3rd level stuff.

Also, question: What dice roller should I use for this? And a thought occurs; I already have a character sheet for my character on DNDBeyond. Can I just post that here? He's already at level 1

@Vertigo You are absolutely welcome to join!

@WanderingDragon Just use the RP Guild dice roller. And yeah, you can just use DNDBeyond.

@WanderingDragon You'll go to the home page here. There's a button to the right that says Dice, click that. There will be a button that says New Campaign, click that, add a title then click submit. From there you should get two input fields, one for Roll where you'll put like 1d20 or 3d6 and the other is a Note to add what the roll is for. There should also be a toggle help button that will show you valid inputs.

Okay, so stats are as follows:

15
13
12
11
10
10

I'll need to think about how to allocate them, because despite his lineage, Shadow Thumper starts off trying to fill a particular archetype

I've been a bit MIA this week due to work stuff, but the sheet is coming along nicely in general! I did notice, though, that I apparently chose the worst class option for a Verdan >> The Verdan race itself gives proficiency with wisdom and charisma saving throws - but Cleric already has both of those. Rip.

Still trying to decide on a background as well. I'm definitely going to use one of the new options!
