Location: Training ground 17 Rina Uchiha
_______________________________________________
I’m afraid you will never be a ninja, child.

Rina focused chakra into her body and moved swiftly across the training ground, appearing directly in front of the wooden dummy and slamming her fist directly into the wood, creating a small dent as her fist made contact. “Nngh…” she made a noise of disapproval before flipping backwards and throwing two handfuls of shuriken, scattering across the field and hitting every single inch of the dummy.

Clumsy, unco-ordinated, You have yet to even land a single hit upon me!

The young Uchiha grimaced and grit her teeth before once again charging the dummy. Rina then leaped into the air, as she fell down towards the dummy, she reeled her fist back and crashed it directly down into the top of the dummy, causing the dummy to shudder a little from the force. Rina vanished again using her body flicker technique and re-appeared behind the dummy, slamming her leg into the back and once again causing it to shudder a bit more violently this time.

You cannot even perform a simple Ninjutsu…

Rina retracted her leg and let out a small breath while she focused her chakra. Rina’s hands clasped together tightly as she began to perform a sequence of hand signs, focusing the chakra inside of her, and drawing it to the surface. Rina’s eyes narrowed as she raised her hand to her mouth “Fire-Style: Phoenix flower JUTSU!”. Rina unleashed a flurry of fireballs from her mouth and began to run across the training ground, pelting the wooden dummy with a violent onslaught.

You’re a failure, Rina. You will never live up to the name: Uchiha.

The Genin stood there in silence after her assault...Her frustration and irritation began to well up inside of her body. Another series of hand-signs performed and Rina once again brought her hand up towards her mouth. “Fire-Style…

It’s been a while, child. Let us see if I was wrong about you. Perform the Jutsu of our clan.

Great fireball JUTSU!!!”. Rina’s chakra swelled and flourished into a searing ball of pure power and flames, the flame ball launched itself forward, searing the grass as it went along and collided with the training dummy that she had singled out for her training session. The great ball of fire engulfed the dummy and exploded upon contact. When the smoke cleared the dummy had been marked and scuffed by her assault.

My daughter. You’ve improved greatly. I’m proud of you.

Rina panted softly and felt the faintest hint of a smile creep onto her face, gratitude, a rare feeling from Rina but one that she had given her father a considerable amount of times. She knew that the other genin on her “Team” were supposed to arrive here but in all honesty? She didn’t care. She would have been here anyway and teammates were only going to slow her down, If Rina had to deal with them? She’d simply ignore them and continue to improve herself.

Now. Again, Rina. You’ve a long way to go.

The voice of her father spurred her on even now and she quickly moved across the training ground once again and renewed her assault.

Bakuto Uchiha

One week to prepare and get his affairs in order Bakuto Uchiha didnt try to spend that extra time to get to know his teammates. He hadn't even remotely tried to figure out who his teams lead jounin would be. He would just find out when he gets the chance in person to meet them.

He was slightly puzzled by his first orders he had been given as a genin. The orders had been very vague, which Bakuto greatly disliked. Not knowing what was to happen the unknown was something he had never liked he didnt know how he should prepare for a mission when the details were never given to him. He had grabbed his standard shinobi tools and took three extra puppet arms that were identical to his right arm he had stuffed away the arms in a backpack and had it slung over his back before he had went out to the point where he was assigned to go.

The Village Gates

Once he got to the gates he didnt make any detours he went straight there. He wasnt sure what he was to await him there, but he did not want to start his first mission being late or the last one to arrive. Bakuto wanted the first mission to go alright, with how long it took for him to become a genin he didnt want to start off being late to the gates with his first mission not going less then perfect. At least to start with getting there on time. He arrived he didn't know if he was the first or last he just arrived and took his place to await for any instructions he was to be given once he arrived.

Tenshi Hokori

The first week within Konaha Tenshi didn't know what to think. He had his greetings with the hokage, and that was about that. He noted his meeting with the Hokage there was a few others keeping their eyes on him. Tenshi was given a place to stay and that's where he was most of the time during that first week. Tenshi had went to the ramen shop a few times, but not once since he arrived in the village did he go anywhere alone. Always he had an escort to make sure he went where he was going and someone to watch him when he was there.

A few times over the week he found a few had kept watch over him that first week Especially when he left the room, there was always a He wasn't summoned by the Hokage at first Tenshi thought maybe he was a prisoner of sorts but he knew better. Their villages were enemies for the longest of times he was lucky he wasn't in a jail cell as a prisoner.

Near the end of that first week period he had noticed a few things had been going on within the village that week. Things were moving quickly as messenger birds arrived and left. Seemed something was afoot then he was given a message that he was to go on a mission. This was the last day of his week within Konaha.

Once he was given the orders to go to the gate he walked out the doors of his assigned living quarters. Tenshi says allowed as he assumed an escort would be there to escort him to the village gates, "Take me to the Hokage. This mission I have questions so take me there. Now!" He demanded something for the first time since arriving. he had questions. This mission needed of a kumo escort so Bakuto needed more information of what was this mission about and not just accept a job and do it without question.

Without question an escort appeared then began to escort Tenshi out, after he requested to get his stuff for the trip. He did but he wasnt escorted to the Hokage he was lead to the village gates instead. The escort wasnt taking orders from a kumo shinobi, and instead followed their ordinal orders. They escorted him to where he was to go and that was the village gates to await his orders.

Location: Training ground 17Lumika Suto
_______________________________________________
The day started like any other for Lumika. She and her sister woke up before sunrise to exercise on the roof as was a family tradition. while doing exercises and stretches she would look out at the horizon and think about her family in Suna. She would wonder if they were looking too, she was far from home and felt this weird pit in her stomach from being so far from her family and home for so long. It is not that she was sad or unhappy, she has had some really wonderful moments here in Konoha with Kuree. It has been everything she wanted, but every morning she wakes up with that weird feeling in her chest. But she knows if she just focuses her mind on her training she can cure this ailment.

"Okay! I'm off to Training ground 17! I'll see you later sis, I hope you have a great day too!" Lumika said to her sister after getting ready for the day. It was a quiet morning for her, most others don't wake up so early unless they own a business that specializes in serving fresh handmade breakfast dishes. Lumika was used to the smells of fresh bread jogging through the square, but her nose was overwhelmed with the smell of lavender. "phew, I laid it on thick this morning. I hope my classmates won't mind" Lumika said to herself out loud realizing she used too much of the lavender perfume her mother gave her before she left home.

Lumika had been at the training ground for hours. she wanted to try and practice some techniques in the nearby forest before her classmates and teacher showed up so she could impress them. she split up her time practicing her sister's signature punch and her rocket knee jutsu. trying to develop her power and the precision of her rocket knee, so that it could be more effective at longer ranges. Lumika was working on another rep of Kuree's signature punches when she noticed great big plumes of fire erupt in the distance "Someone else must be here! they must be training too!" Lumika said to herself before another thought came to her mind "What if they aren't? what if they need help!? they sound serious!" Lumika's face changed to a famous glare of determination known among her family. "Ok, lets do this."

Lumika positioned herself for her rocket knee, she had been training hard on this today so she knew this was the best way to intentionally enter a live combat situation and if not, it would make for a cool entrance. after a few moments, Lumika looked up from the ground toward the training ground. "Ready!" Lumika said as her right leg began to shake from the chakra building up in her leg "Go!" and with that, an explosion burst from her right leg sending her right knee in front and the rest of her body in pursuit.

Lumika was whizzing past trees and brush towards the clearing of training ground 17 once she could see into the clearing from the forest she started to realize something, shes losing altitude!, Lumika braced herself for a landing into a slide like she has done many times before so as not to skin her knees up. but when Lumika's feet touched the solid ground she neglected to look out for something Suna natives don't calculate for often thick rocks in the ground! Lumikas right foot made solid contact with a stubborn rock in the ground sending Lumika in a wild speeding tumble across the ground. to the genin on the training field, it would sound like a wild boar was making a charge through the brush, and an oddly lavender smelling one at that.

Lumika's uncontrollable tumble had her rolling at her teammate's training dummy, and she would crash into it. "I got him for you... fear not" Lumika would cough after saying those words with her face pressed against the scorched dummy, she would then roll off the dummy and a black line of soot ruffly the size the training dummy would be drawn across her figure. "Greetings, I am Lumika Suto" She said while still on the ground flexing her arms. still recovering from her ill-fated landing.

Hiro opened his eyes and sat up in his bed, giving a very cat-like stretch as the early morning sunlight. He scratched the side of his face and looked over at the headband sitting on his bedside table. The sight of it caused a wide smile to spread across his face. Today was the day. He'd had a thoroughly unorthodox graduation, and he only knew of one other member of the squad Hiro was placed on, Uchiha Bakuto. Neither of them even knew who their jounin was. Hiro shook his head. That doesn't matter, he said to himself. We're finding out today, and then we're gonna be shinobi. With that thought he leapt out of bed, holding onto his optimism no matter how much the vague nature of the orders he'd received reminded him of his family. He shed out of his pajamas as he ran to the bathroom.

One shower later, Hiro was dressed and tying on his headband, wrapping his light scarf around his neck when he finished. Hanging from his back was a shoulder bag with water and fruit. He smacked his cheeks and slid open his bedroom window, taking in Konoha's lovely summer breeze, before leaping from the window and out onto the streets. Without any further ado, he made his way to the Village Gates, the specified location in the slip he was given. His pace was brisk, but controlled. He wanted to get to the gates as quickly as possible, and tried to do so without being a nuisance to the passerby lining the streets. He made it to the gates relatively quickly, but despite his hurried pace, he wasn't the first one to get here.

"Oh, Uchi-... err, Bakuto." He came to a halt a bit away from his teammate. "Sorry about that, I'll have to break the habit. I hope I didn't keep you waiting for very long." He smiled and scratched the back of his head. "Although, from the looks of things, it doesn't seem like our other teammate is here yet." He looked around, a puzzled look on his face. "Or... our teacher. Huh." He looked around, quickly scanning their surroundings. I know I'm not from here, but this doesn't feel normal. He shrugged. "Guess we're waiting then." He reached for his bag and withdrew a pair of oranges. "Orange? I, ah... forgot to eat breakfast."

Yue Nara"Stop... being alive. It's embarrassing."
_______________________________________________
"What's this."

"It's nutritional porridge. It's an old recipe, which I improved with some of the herbs and flowers from the garden."

Yue lifted a spoon of it and watched the thick herb-scented mush fall of her spoon back into her bowl.

"It's your day to report in and you never know what your village may be asking of you. I hope you've been reading those shinobi instructional books we bought for you! You've got to make a good first impression", Yue's mother explained and dutifully spooned some of her own mush into her mouth. Yue didn't follow suit and her mother frowned slightly.

"Hm..., Yue replied, stirring the unappetizing goop around suspiciously. Over the course of the past week, her mother hadn't let her out of her sight. She'd dragged her around shopping for ninja gear, for new clothing, to meet the parents of her team members. She'd even been dragged around the entire village looking for the jounin instructor to make an introduction, which ended with her instructor very gently brushing them off. Of course this morning she'd received a letter telling her that she had been removed from her team and told to report to the village gates while everyone else would be meeting their team. Yue was sort of relieved. She couldn't imagine how she'd have been able to look anyone on her former team in the eye after having been paraded around the entire village.

Yue's mother had taken it less well.

"I just don't know how they could have changed your team at the last minute. That's a sign of inadequate organization, in my opinion", she said, "I should like to issue a formal complaint. As a parent, how am I supposed to prepare my child for life as a shinobi if I'm given... INACCURATE DATA!?!"

Yue's dad chuckled and yawned and slipped Yue a bag of dumplings under the table with his toes while Yue's mother was cleaning a plate. He had very articulate toes, something he'd developed from spending so much time lazing about in a hammock. Yue hid it expertly inside her jacket and stood straight up.

"I... need to head out...", she announced and began walking mechanically away from the table.

"Your porridge", her mother called.

"I should get their early and make a good impression", Yue replied mechanically, without stopping or turning. Just a few more feet to the door...

"Hm... Well, at least pick up some fresh fruit on the way! You should not be hungry for... whatever they will be having you do", but Yue was already gone.

She waited until she was well in the middle of the village proper before she snuck a dumpling out of the bag in her jacket and took a bite. It was a busy sunny day, but Yue didn't take the time to notice. Her mind was racing, now that she was finally alone. Sure she'd been agitated about her previous team, Remi and Chotzu would probably have been her last pick for teammates, but being taken off the team? Given nothing? What was this? She supposed that if she was meeting at the village gates, it was because they were leaving the village. Was it a mission? Could be. She was one of the few genin who could be classed as a sensor and even had some medical training. Perhaps she'd been reassigned for those skills. It made as much sense as anything else.

But if they were willing to take fresh genin and put them on a real mission... The last time something like that had happened was during the war.

She furrowed her brows and stuffed an entire dumpling in her mouth. This the situation was so suspicious. Had anyone else been summarily reassigned this way? What if no one was? Maybe she wasn't going to be reassigned at all. Maybe they were exiling her. Did that happen? She didn't know. She supposed if people were exiled, no one would talk about it... But that was silly, wasn't it? Why would they exile her? She hadn't done anything illegal. Her grades were fine. They wouldn't exile her without exiling her parents... Her mother would never let them hear the end of it...

With only three dumplings left, she stuffed the rest of the bag with the rest of her supplies. There was no telling if she'd be gone for long or if it was just some routine thing. She could probably forage, if she had to, but it was better to have something on hand than not. She tried to figure out her coming assignment for the entirety of her walk.

When she finally arrived, there were already several other ninja there.

"So... I'm going to be on a team with Bakuto and Hiro, am I? Then that must make that woman my jounin and... that... is that a Kumo-nin? Hm...", she thought to herself. She stuck her hands in her pockets and glared silently.

Eri Takeda“No matter what, someone is depending on you.”
_______________________________________________

Even with the extra hour she’d taken to do her hair and makeup, Eri was on her way to training ground 17 with plenty of time to spare. She didn’t even have to do any setup for her test. It was a routine drill, something she’d done with dozens of batallions before. She was pretty sure a bunch of school kids could handle it. She’d certainly had to work with the occasional adult who’s intellect rivaled that of a pre-teen - and in her opinion, plenty of adult ninja were even dimmer than that.

But Eri had her own secret trial to take, before she could run her genin’s - and she was glad there was plenty of time to do it. Plucking up her courage, she traced a path through Konoha square, past vendor stands of musty paperbacks, sweet-smelling meat buns, and freshly cut flowers, to a place she knew well. She only hoped it hadn’t moved in the years she’d been gone.

But then she saw it- a red and gold Taiyaki stand, with a big wooden fish on top bearing the words ‘Kintaro’s Taiyaki’ in peeling gold lettering. And as soon as she recognized it, it recognized her - the little old man running the stand gave a start and called over to her.

“Eri-chan, is that you? You’ve grown up!” Said the little old man.

“Heh, yes, it’s me.” She said, a bit bashful. She looked around the stand, but didn't see the person she was looking for. Still, she was happy to see an old friend. “How are things?”

“Oh, business is business. Have you seen Kintaro yet?”

“N-no, not yet.” Eri bit her lip. Was it that obvious she had come to see him?

“Oh, well you should! He’s married now, you know? And two kids!”

“O-oh.”

“Ah, you should come by for dinner!" The old man continued, oblivious to Eri's paling face. He placed a heap of taiyaki in a box as he spoke. Mama-chan would love to have you, too. We hardly ever see our son these days, but you are here, visiting - it’s an occasion! I’m sure he’d love to see you, too. You two were such good friends.”

So that was how it was. Eri promised to come by for dinner sometime, and the old man foisted the box of sweets on her before she left.

She headed to the training grounds and tried to clear her head. It felt like her makeup was running, probably due to steam from the Taiyaki pans. She felt stupid for wearing makeup and fixing herself up, but she had to stay optimistic. Kintaro wasn’t the only man in Konoha, after all. She’d just put him out of her mind.

Ahead of her, a great fireball erupted from the trees!

Eri took position behind a rock and sensed out the source of the fire. It appeared there was a genin at the training grounds - no, wait, another explosion, two genin? Yes, two children were, for some reason, blasting the hell out of the training ground. Had some jounin sent them on a path of destruction? It was a bit early for self-motivated teenage delinquency. She’d have to shoo them off the training ground before…

Suddenly she realized where they were. Training ground 17 was just ahead. These weren’t delinquents - they were a highly motivated Uchiha and an equally energetic Suna exchange student. And, as of today, they were Eri’s responsibility.

Avoiding detection, Eri moved closer to observe her new wards. She’d reveal herself when it was time to begin their training. For now, she was happy to have some time to observe. Self control was definitely going to be one of the early lessons for these two, but she was glad to see their spirit. To her recollection her genin teammates had rarely arrived on time to anything, and pretty much never early.

ICHIKA UCHIHA]MIZURAKI SENJU

Ichika had been waiting at the entrance of Konoha for quite some time as she had arrived significantly ahead of schedule; as she usually would. The recent revelation that the Uchiha would be joining Mizuraki Senju and the boy from Kumogakure on a mission with an undisclosed objective. Ichika brushed aside a thick lock of her ebony hair and recalled the events of the Nine-Tails' assault on the village, and how that had been the first time she had encountered Mizu, and from that day; Ichika had held a sincere respect for the Senju clan. Due almost entirely to the bravery the brunette had displayed.

One by one, the various students whom had been assigned to the mission began to arrive, a particular individual eventually showed up, one who had caught Ichika's eye in the academy quite some time ago. Yue Nara. This was shaping out to become quite the interesting affair.

Last night had almost felt like an alcohol fueled dream...After all Mizuraki? Leading a squadron into battle? Of genin no less! she was a fighter...And a healer but a leader? That, was something she was sure she would never be able to be. It still didn't feel real, surely Seiiji knew what a terrible plan that would be, so why would he do it. Like it or not Mizuraki had to accept her orders but it certainly didn't stop her from drinking the responsibility away...The idea of leading children into battle never sat right with the Senju woman, not after the horrors she witnessed during the third war.

Regardless of her feelings on the matter the morning still arrived and Mizuraki opened her tired eyes. "Mmnm..." she let out a soft sound before shaking her head and trying to deal with the threat of an oncoming hangover. The Jounin rose from her bed and rubbed at her tired eyes before the realization had hit her like a sack of concrete. "I'M LATE!". Mizuraki stumbled out of her bed and quickly got dressed to approach the gates, she probably looked like an utter mess, but that's nothing some primpng wouldn't fix. "I'm late anyway, might as well look presentable I guess."

Affter her primping was done and her gear was collected. Mizuraki made her way to the gates with a slightly terse expression on her face, the Senju woman was lost in thought, about the mission...About the secrecy surrounding the objective. Something wasn't right about all of this and she could feel it in her gut. Mizuraki was brought out of her thoughts when she saw a familiar face as well as the genin around the gate. Her squad and the Uchiha's own. Mizuraki stopped but before she acknowledged her squad of Genin...A warm smile broke out onto her face as she raised her hand to wave it at Ichika. "Ichi-Chaaan. Long time no see. How've you been?[/color\"

Had it been anybody else using that nickname but Mizuraki, Ichika may well have sneered in disgust and become highly conversationally combative from that point onwards. However, it was the Senju clan's very own socialite that had done so, and because of that she allowed it to slide. Only her brother Rukito ever, ever called her that. However, the Uchiha had certainly heard the Senju woman refer to others as worse. On more than one occasion, the pale skinned woman, who had been stood leaning against a tree for the better part of forty minutes before Mizuraki's arrival; had heard Mizu refer to the Lord Hokage as 'Seiji-kun'.

Clad in her signature crimson armour, the colour palette of Ichika's garments bore a stark contrast to those of the woodland behind her, jet black underclothes with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Revealing snow white skin set beneath the blood red metal plate of her tengu plate. Ichika took pause before responding to her acquaintance, momentarily seeming to dismiss the woman. "I am well, Mizuraki-san. Thank you for asking, although unsurprisingly I do believe feel better than you currently appear... You look as though you have barely awoken." She had said with a smirk. Truth be told, Ichika believed that Mizuraki Senju was a being of particular beauty among the village, though she understood that was a fairly common opinion. Even still, this did not prevent the Uchihs from poking fun back at the one whom she had fought alongside during the Nine-Tails attack.

Mizuraki had to do her best to stifle her yawn, it felt like she easily could have slept about...Seven more hours? give or take a couple more. The nerves inside of her were practically buzzing as she started to realize just what was going to happen today. Leading a squadron of genin, a squadron under her own command, into a mission and trying to bring them out alive. It felt like the war all over again, but she refused to let history repeat itself, NO ONE was going to die on her watch. Never again. Her greeting for Ichika was almost met with dismissal and if she hadn't interacted at all with the woman beforehand? she would feel offended but she knew it was just her way. Although when Ichika had ended up calling her out for barely being awake the poor woman's eyes widened as she began to laugh and rub the back of her head. "Haha...Hah...Nothing gets past you huh, Ichi-Chan?" she pursed her lips a little bit and brought her hand up to her chin, prompting a brief smirk to appear on the Uchiha's face as more of the Genin began to gather at the rendezvous point. "Still though is it that obvious? I thought I mostly hid the baggy eyes." she mostly murmured that last part while running her fingers underneath her eyels.

The Senju woman turned around and looked towards the two squads of Genin. One of them her own and the other belonging to Ichika, it was always sobering to see young ninja. It was like looking into a mirror. She smiled towards the group and lifted up her hand. "Mizuraki Senju. I'm going to be looking after you lot for today...Don't worry I know what I'm doing. At least that's what everyone tells me." she said with a smile still clear on her face. Her smile held a naive charm to it, she truly believed what she was saying. "OH." "Ichi-Chan. I wasn't the last one here right?" She was desperately hoping that she wasn't dead last...Oh gods the embarrassment.

After Mizuraki had finished her introduction to the children, Ichika surveyed the surrounding ninja; accounting for all of them as they finished their arrivals. "Not quite, although I would have preferred it had you arrived a tad sooner." She responded, before also turning her attention to the Genin whom had mustered before them. "And I am Ichika Uchiha. Yue, Natsuo and Tomoyuki. The three of you shall be under my command, this may be your first operation, but I expect nothing but the best from you. Nonsense and tomfoolery of any kind, and by extention failure will not be tolerated. Do I make myself clear?" Ichika suddenly barked, issuing orders to those in her charge in a significantly colder, harsher tone than her compatriot had done so. The Uchiha had lead teams before of course, but never one compromising of Genin fresh out of the academy. The abyssal black eyes of the woman seemed to stare into the very souls of her subordinates. Remembering the trauma she endured during the third great war.

Remi Haruno"Ah... Don't you think the world will be a little brighter without you in it?"
_______________________________________________
It was quite the week! Remi had almost gotten over the disappointment of not being assigned on a team with his beloved Rina when suddenly he'd found himself with no team at all! And how odd... Perhaps life was just like that and it was better to just float on the wind like a leaf. Leaf? No... Like a cherry blossom after bloom. Oh, how lovely the sky was after the festival every year... little pink petals floating in the sky like dreams and wishes. And with those wishes, with those dreams, there went too the hopes of the village. Festivals were important like that. Remi consoled himself that perhaps he too was important like that.

After all, the day had a nice cool wind and he was floating along to where he was supposed to be, a new genin carrying with him the wishes and dreams of all the shinobi that had gone before him. He gave a chuckle, put his hands behind his head, and looked up at the clear blue sky. That's right! There was no time to pout! Everyone's hopes were riding on him!

He thought about his father and mother, his sisters, how they'd all seen him off on his first day, remembered the graduation party. They all believed in him! And he knew deep down that some day Rina would believe in him too. The thought was heartening. Why... who knew who his new team would be? Maybe she'd be on it! He daren't dream. The crushing disappointment would shatter his fragile heart. No, it was better to suffer under the assumption that they would be separated for now, merely another chapter of pining that would one day blossom itself into the flower of maturity. W-why, h-he preferred it this way, of course!

So wrapped up was he in his own thoughts, that he didn't even realize it when he'd arrived at the gates, his reverie ended. Oddly enough, Yue was there! Would they still be on a team? But there were far too many shinobi for that to be certain. With Remi, that made four and that was one two three four many! But one too many for a team, sadly.

"Ohaiyo", Remi called out to them and waved a hand. Yue seemed to pretend not to notice, but he noted with a giggle that her pursed lips suggested that she had, "Have I missed anything important?"

Misaki Mori"Challenging me? Really? You must really like getting crushed underfoot."
_______________________________________________
"My apologies, Mori-san. It is dangerous to kick so close to me for someone like you."

Misaki's eyes glowered at Hiro's cold calm expression with its opposite, blinding inarticulate fury. Except for the shaking, she couldn't move. The most she could accomplish was a snarl from the effort. Come on! Get up! Get up! Her mind screamed at her body, but it would not listen and her voice caught in her throat. She hadn't realized she wasn't breathing and the sound that came out was hoarse and haggard. She tried to yell, she tried to move, she willed her lips to move, willed her lungs to just... pump air. MOVE! COME ON!!! Her leg moved, but it couldn't support her weight and she fell before she had even reached a squat.

Her legs... her weapons... her wings... He'd broken her in a single blow. He did not even see her rage. He had not even looked at her at all. She couldn't imagine hating anyone more.

And the worst part of it was Jin, jumping out of nowhere, a final indignity. F-fight on her behalf?!? JIN?!? Like she was some helpless girl all over again, like she was just... a piece of garbage-Just back in and out of hospitals, sick and afraid. How dare he take her defeat from her!

'I'll kill you! I'll KILL you!', she screamed in her mind but "Rrragh!, is all she managed to choke out with the fury and effort pushing tears out of her eyes. Hiro didn't even look. His hand remained held out for her, if she could even raise her hand to meet his. Was this it? Was all her training for nothing?

"That will be quite enough", said a very manly voice. Misaki tried to turn her head to look and... she saw that the voice had come from... c-come from

an enormous duck with billowy head feathers! What was this?!? Th-that couldn't be their jounin! Was this some kind of joke?!?

"If you are to be a team, it's time you began acting like one. Fall in", it continued. It was now that Misaki noticed the man sleeping on the creature's back. He was wearing a strange red robe and holding a giant mallet, which, despite its immense size, he only gripped loosely and lazily. It couldn't be as heavy as it looked if he was holding it so casually in his sleep. It was some trick. He was awake. He was just pretending to be asleep. Misaki relaxed her neck back to looking at Hiro's feet and then slowly back up towards his face. He was looking at the duck. He bowed and said, "Welcome. Are you or that man Kamoji-sensei?"

The duck lowered its head and waddled over to the small nearby pond where it then dumped the man on his back into the water and hung his duckly head in shame. The man with the hammer splashed around and made noises that seemed more appropriate for the giant duck to have made. By the time he had hopped out of the pond, he seemed to have regained a kind of ease, as if he'd fallen in the pond intentionally. His laziness seemed to infect the way he walked too; it was something between a salesman's swagger and a drunkard's stagger and you could describe the smile on his face the same way.

"Hey kids, I'm Kamoji, your sensei! And uh... this is your first day as real ninja, huh?"

He looked the three of them over. Hiro was giving the strange man with the hammer his full attention. Jin had ventured closer, fireworks spiraling out of control behind him, one barely missing his head. Misaki still sat right on her butt and shook angrily. Her breathing was a little more regular again, but she didn't hazard to stand. When she tried, she felt nauseous and she still couldn't stop shaking. Well, apparently the hammer man took note of her miserable state because he was waddling right over to her. What else could go wrong?

"You must be Miiiisomething. Your name's too long, I'm gonna call you Misa", he said with a dismissive yawn.

"Sensei, there is an explanation for th-", Hiro interjected only to be cut off.

"What kid? I can't hear you. You're talking too stupid. Looks like a Hyuuga did this. Don't know where that wrongdoer may have gotten to, would ya? Didn't think so, now get out of the way so I can put my hands on her while she can't struggle too much", he said brushing right past the frowning Hyuuga. As the man rounded in on her Misaki's eyes nearly popped out of her head and she desperately tried to force her legs to work... But all she succeeded in doing was falling to her stomach. She tried to worm away.

"Y-you can't do that, sensei! It's... It's wrong! Don't make me have to defeat you, and on the first day", said Jin getting into a fighting stance, "For the word of a Kani is as strong as the shell of a crab! UNBREAKABLE!"

"Myahmyah", said the man, "Jin... Nice and short. Just stay out of the way, short stuff, and let me get on the job already"

But it was Hiro's hand that went to stop him and with an extended palm, he reached for him, "Sensei, I must insist-"

But the palm touched nothing. The man was already kneeling by Misaki as she struggled to get away and he wiggled his fingers and laughed before plunging them... right into her back, just below Misaki's shoulder blades.

The feeling was indescribable. It was like she had never had a breath until just that moment. Her back arched and she took a deep breath, her head was so light she could barely keep her eyes from crossing and her mouth just wouldn't close, so good did it feel just to breath! Kamoji sat right on the ground next to her while Misaki writhed about on the ground and said, "You look loaded, kid. That'll be seventy ryo"

Bakuto Uchiha

As the genin arrived to the gates Bakuto. Quickly he noticed the other genin were arriving slowly as well. He wasn't last but he had not seen anyone from his newly formed team. The Suna kid and the kid from the Haruno family. At first Bakuto was enjoyed the silence as he stood their waiting for the teammates and the other team to show up.

That peace of silence was brought to an abrupt halt as his first teammate showed up and started to talk. His right eye snapped right over to him as he heard his name called out in the all to familiar voice. Bakuto couldn't help but notice the obvious differences between himself and this kid. This boy as loud, while he normally kept quiet and to himself. His blue eye stared right at Hiro for a minutes after he offered him an orange. Bakuto thought of many responses, but he tried to think of one that wouldn't seem too rude he then says quietly, "No thanks...I'm...umm not hungry."

He tried to go back waiting in silence but he couldn't as the jounin arrived not to long after Hiro did. His eyes both instantly snapped from his teammate and to the one jounin. Her armor stuck out like a sore thumb, that was armor worn a light by higher end shinobi from his clan the Uchiha. Her hair and eyes were almost also a dead giveaway. The black piercing eyes that Bakuto noticed was common in most individuals of the Uchiha had. When he was much younger and before his horrific incident he had similar eyes.

Bakuto believes he has seen her around the uchiha compound, she help the other kids.

Part of him wanted her to be his teams jounin he could learn more he thought from someone of his clan. Especially someone who was the rank of jounin from his clan. Yet she wasnt as he listened to her command her team, she was serious or at least sounded like it. She expected nothing but perfection and that was something he noticed about a lot of people from his clan and himself.

He nearly missed his jounin who introduced herself first, so his jounin was from that Senju clan. Bakuto noted the differences in personality right away his jounin seemed to be more like his teammate who first arrived. Bakuto's eyes wandered over, she was the opposite of Ichika.

Bakuto wanted to what was their first mission but before he could speak his last teammate arrived Remi Haruno. Once again another person with a very active personality, very friendly and eager to talk. His team seemed to be filled with similar types of personalities except for himself. He wasnt big on talking, and he often kept to himself. He was the odd one out in this team, he watched and listened. His question was going to wait he was just going to wait to speak until he was spoken too again.

He was going to ask what was the mission about then the cloud shinboi made his appearance known...

Tenshi Hokori

Things had not went as Tenshi had asked for. It was very obvious his escort was not going to take him to the Hokage's office. Tenshi caught onto this as they went away from the office. The urge to complain about the current situation was strong within Tenshi, he wanted to know what was this mission about.

He soon found himself at the gates he notices the teams that have gathered up. He saw what he assumed were two jounin level shinobi as he saw how old they were and compared them to himself. Then he saw the genin. Kids...

Very quick he said once in range, "What's up with all the kids? Don't tell me this is some sort of field trip to Kumogakure? I know I am an only here has a supervisor role from the cloud but that is a bit soon to be sending people to my village isn't it?"

After a quick examination of the jounin and the kids he noticed one girl had fancy armor and those dark piercing eyes. He then noticed a kid with the family crest of the same clan he was assume the girl with dark hair had. The kid was rather different then the older Uchiha girl, his eyes were different. They didn't match one was blue the other was dark brown eye. He didn't know why the kid had different eyes nor did he care. He figured he was born that way and that was that.

He was quick to say, "I am Tenshi Hokori I guess I am going on whatever this mission is. Hopefully this will go smoothly whatever it is." He went from his original rude comment about the kids to a more cheerful friendly approach. He watched everyone to judge their reactions, his appearance of a cloud shinobi might bring some mixed reaction. He hoped the jounin would be more like his first meeting with the first jounin he met and not what happen with the other at the ramen shop.

Takayuki Mekakushi

It had been an... interesting week.

Taka's troubles had begun, of course, on the day of his team's assignment, what with the cocky bastard from cloud jumping in to ruin his afternoon. It had put him into something of a foul mood for the remainder of the day, despite how cute his kids had seemed. Truthfully, he couldn't wait to meet them properly today! He wondered if they'd liked his ducks...

The next day had taken his mood from bad to worse. He'd woken up to find a reassignment notice for one of his genin setting at his windowsill, utterly trashing the test he'd been planning to give his team, and it'd sent him into an uncharacteristically acerbic haze. He'd even snapped at the old lady next door! (He made a mental note to send her some flowers and an apology card.)

The week had, sadly, only really got worse. His father had cancelled their dinner date, citing an urgent board meeting in the Fire Capital, Sensei had only laughed at him when he'd asked for teaching tips, and his old nervous twitch had come back to his arm with a vengeance yesterday, raining hot tea over his kitchenette and ruining the delicate folding mechanism of one of his nearby birthday cards.

Still, he supposed, he'd spent an enjoyable few hours catching up with Ichika during the week, which had gone a long way towards cheering him up, and his new Genin test, although notably less complex than his original plans, was fit for purpose and ready to go!

"Speaking of which..." He stood up from the stool at his breakfast bar and took one last look around his apartment. It was noticeably tidier than usual, and he'd made sure to arrange everything so as to be as welcoming as possible. He frowned, then, recalling once again that the young Senju they'd found to fill out his team was only 10 years old. A scowl crossed his face, though it quickly faded.

He double checked everything, ensuring that the plain white vase was in full display on the coffee table and that the handful of traps he'd scattered around the apartment were properly armed. That done, he grabbed three apples from his fruit bowl, retrieved a kunai, and slowly set about carving miniature shuriken from them, ready to hand to his students when they arrived. He grinned.

This was going to be great!

Team Mitsuyo
Hana Bohi, Genjin Kani, and Kuroki Kyuusagi

"You're late!"

"Egh?!? Like five minutes!"

"You're always five minutes late! Every year! Do you not tell time?!?"

"Eeeeh?!? Well, it's tradition then! Get off my back!"

Before Hana had a chance to lunge at Kuroki, Genjin stood and bowed, "We are honored to have you hear again, Kuroki-san."

Genjin's politeness seemed to take the wind out of Hana's sails and she sunk cross-legged onto the ground. It was their tradition every year to climb to the top of the monument and celebrate the next generation. Hana and Kuroki fighting over Kuroki's tardiness was just the same, a tradition from when they were all very young and new, from when they were together, and not Hana, nor Genjin, nor Kuroki would ever relinquish what they had left.

"Ts. I brought the booze. Best stuff that Ichiraku had. Real expensive. Cost a lot", said Kuroki, one hand in his pocket, the other taking out a bottle of what looked like a bottle of unfiltered sake that Kuroki would have never been able to afford. From his pocket, he removed six small shot glasses, three of which he threw in the air. In an instant, Hana had shattered them with pebbles from the ground.

"Sloooow. What? Ain't got enough naughty kids to throw stuff a-" something hit Kuroki in the back of the head. One of the pebbles had ricocheted off a tree right into his skull. He gave a smirk and so did Hana and he took a seat next to Genjin. As he passed out the remaining shot glasses, Genjin and Hana looked out over the whole village. Kuroki popped open the bottle and poured generously into the glasses and raised his own to the sky.

"To the kids", he proclaimed, "May they learn real strength" and drank his shot. Now it was Genjin's turn.

"May they honor their way", and he downed his shot. He did not drink often and cleared his throat a little as the burning liquid made its way down it. It was Hana's turn now.

"May they never know war", she said happily and, not to be outdone, swallowed the drink whole. Hana, unfortunately, never drank at all and almost instantly felt the liquor going to her head. She didn't even notice how tense Genjin became after her wish for peace. But Kuroki did and he refilled all their glasses.

"KANPAI", Kuroki yelled and raised his glass!

"KANPAI", Hana followed with a shakier, "K-kanpai", from Genjin at the end. The second glass went down a little easier than the first, but Hana had lost her balance and was lying on her back looking at the sky. And yet Genjin didn't seem loose enough for Kuroki's liking. He threw an arm over Genjin's shoulder and said quite loudly, "So, you hooking up with any cute girls?"

Genjin looked as if he'd been struck by lightning, he was a solid metal rod, "N-no, K-kuroki-san. I am n-not... hhh... I am not hooo... I am not seeing anybody."

"You're too cute" said Hana from the ground towards the air, "You should have a girlfriend!"

This did not seem to help Genjin's state at all and he poured himself a glass of sake this time and , "ahem"ed.

"I know! I should introduce you to some girls I-"

"N-no! No... that's... quite-"

"Yeah! Do it Hana! This guy needs to get laid!"

Kuroki's crude comments did little to endear him to the now quite tipsy Hana, who pushed herself a little more upright and gave him a hazy side-eye, "He NEEDS to have someone to take CARE of him! He needs a girlfriend, you... unsavory character!"

Genjin was rapidly turning a bright red and Kuroki loudly laughing wasn't helping any. Hana didn't seem to enjoy being laughed at either and the two fell to arguing. It was a little like old times, but as the sun shown down on them so too did the wind blow. And with that wind there was so much change.

Kenshiro Hyuuga
Location: Academy Classroom
Company: Burai, Shiori
Injuries: None
Chakra: 100%

The first lunch with his teammates had gone well for the most part. Shiori was far more well-mannered than he'd expected, and Ken's mother appeared to either not know or care about the rivalry between the Hyuuga and Burai's clan. It made sense for her to not notice, or care, as she clearly had the Hyuuga name through marriage, and not by blood. The gyoza snacks she'd prepared were both delicious and surprisingly filling, even if less 'proper' than what would often be found in a Hyuuga home. Rather, that seemed to extend to the rest of the atmosphere in Kenshiro's abode. Pleasant, clean, polite, but lacking in the usual stuffiness the main branch households would often coat themselves in. Despite the single incident with Burai pretending to summon the Oni upon the household when Ken's mother was in another room, things had gone incredibly smoothly. Almost too much so. Shiori in particular put on the nicest face he'd ever seen her do, the girl acting rather flawless. If it were someone else, he'd wonder which 'face' was meant real, if the one who enjoyed the web of school politics was just for gaining popularity. If it were someone else. Ken could tell which of the girls was the imposter.

A week later, Kenshiro was in the town square for the meeting between the team and their jounin instructor. Admittedly he was rather nervous about the future. Burai only had one issue in their cooperation, which likely already had been solved. But the thought of being on a team with Shiori for an extended time filled Kenshiro with dread. How would be able to work with her when he could only trust her to be just as likely to stab him in the leg as the enemy if it was to her advantage. Luckily it would only be for a year. After the chunnin exams he would be free. Still, it would be a year of constantly looking over his own shoulder, and keeping her within sight.

Akira Senju

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A week had gone by since graduation, and Akira had received a letter the evening proor informing him of his reassignment from Ichika Uchiha's Team 5, to Takayuki Mekakushi's Team 2. The young Senju boy pondered whether this revelation would bode well or not. But none of that currently mattered to Akira. What mattered was that today was the day that the would be future Hokage of Konoha was to meet his Jounin instructor. "I wonder what kind of man he is?" he said aloud as he wandered the streets of his native village. Cutting through the crowds with a fluidity one would not expect from a boy of his age. Leaving little disturbance among the leaf's populace as he eventually found his way to the exterior of Takayuki-sensei's apartment.

"Well, this is it!" Akira vibrantly declared, desperately attempting to hype himself up. After a few tense moments, which had felt like an eternity to the white haired ten year old; Akira pushed open the door, to be instantly pelted in the face by what had apparently been a rigged shuriken, made specifically out of wood to avoid injuries. Nevertheless, the shock of the unexpected impact forced Akira to promptly fall to his buttocks, rubbing his headband up and down to soothe the pain.
Almost instantaneously the Jounin had moved to check upin his student, almost fussing over the young boy as he aided him to his feet.

"Welcome, Welcome! You're Senju-kun, correct? I'm so glad to meet you! I do hope my little joke there didn't hurt too badly! Come in, come in, follow me! You're the first one to arrive!" Takayuki said, his tone warm and welcoming; shortly thereafter he began to guide his new pupil through what was soon to be revealed to be a labyrinth of assorted traps of a similar fashion to the one Akira had fallen victim to. So I'm already being tested...this doesn't look good. the Senju thought as he become lost in his thoughts and absolutely mesmerised by the intricacies of the network of traps his instructor had laid out; he was completely unaware that he had been passed an apple, which he had begun to eat.

"Please, Takayuki-sensei call me Akira."

Kimu UchihaFirebrand of the Uchiha
_______________________________________________
Kimi had awoken to an early start as the Uchiha was grinning with excitement. Today was the day she was going to meet her teammates and sensei. She hadn't had a chance to see either of them during the week. Her father had decided to put her on a training regiment to try and prepare her for anything her sensei would throw her way. It was nothing but brutal torture and annoyance. She didn't complain though, as her mother thought the two of them were starting to get along again. Though, in Kimi's opinion, her dad could still drop dead for all she cared. She knew it wasn't bonding. It was more of a way for her dad to try and rub in any shortcomings and mistakes she made during her training with him. Yet, she just carried on with it.

She got downstairs and made some toast, as she wanted to eat something light before heading to where they were going to meet. Training ground 17, right? Kimi took a bite of her toast before she noticed the time. Huh, it was twenty minutes before she had to meet them... wait... OH SHIT!!! Kimi grabbed her things before she rushed out of the house and headed straight toward the training ground. Fuck, she was going to be fucking late. Honestly, it was like one of those animes where the protagonist was late as fuck for anything, and she swore if some white space cat from hell tried to make a contract with her, she was kicking it. Kimi just kept running, even jumping on some roofs to get to the training areas.

When she got closer to the meeting spot, she skidded to a stop just as a fireball flared up "... Holy shit..." Kimi muttered. Kimi decided to sneak around, keeping her head low before she climbed a tree and sat on the branch, as she watched a blonde girl tackle the dummy after a spectacular landing. Kimi grinned as Lumika introduced herself to Rina. Kimi didn't personally know her, but she had heard something about her. Something about being scary? She seemed pretty normal to her. "Sup, fellow nerds! Kimi Uchiha here!" the ravenette said, introducing herself as she waved, grinning.

Hiro nodded when Bakuto turned down the orange. "No worries. I've got more food and some water here, so let me know if you need any." He wasted no further time and began enjoying one of the oranges, eating carefully to avoid covering his face and hands in the sticky sweet juice. He looked up from his snack as a pair of jonin appeared, and considering the large group of genin gathering at the gates, it was easy to assume they were two leaders and the squads would be separated and organized. He tossed the orange peel in a paper bag in his pack and stood at attention as the two jonin began to introduce themselves. One seemed infinitely more stern than the other, and Hiro couldn't help the feeling of relief that washed over him when he learned that the more laid back jonin was his sensei. He mentally checked himself for this assumption as another genin arrived, a nice-looking... ah, person? Hiro couldn't guess the gender of this arrival, but nonetheless they seemed like a kind enough person. However, the final arrival didn't make so great an impression. A silver-haired ninja apparently from the Cloud village appeared, loudly commenting on the gathering of young shinobi. Hiro stood and dusted off the seat of his pants, choosing not to be bothered by the Kumo-nin's initial comments. He expressed some concern over sending this many shinobi to his home village before introducing himself as Tenshi Hokori. Hiro shot Bakuto a puzzled look before stepping forward.

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Mizuraki-sensei, Ichika-sensei, and Tenshi-san." He bowed politely to the both of them. "I'm Kazeyuurei Hiro, and even though I may be on the younger side, I'll do my best." The age comment was mostly to reassure Tenshi. He stepped back to where he was standing previously, self-conscious about having spoken in front of so many people.

Location: Training ground 17 Rina Uchiha
_______________________________________________
Rina’s eyes narrowed a bit as she focused upon the training dummy once again. The Uchiha closed her eyes and started to focus her chakra once again. The flame began to pool inside of her throat while she charged up for another jutsu to unleash upon her wooden opponent- What reeked of Lavender?

The young Uchiha turned herself around only to see a charging streak fly directly through the underbrush and subsequently tumble and slide across the ground like an absolute fool. Rina’s eyes followed along until the fool managed to slam right into the training dummy that she had just been using for practice. The girl introduced herself and immediately Rina grimaced and pinched the bridge of her nose. She was going to be on a team with this uncoordinated moron? This had to be some sick joke. “And what the hell did you think you were doing? Other than looking like an idiot?

Another voice piped up nearby and introduced herself as the third teammate...An Uchiha? She must not have read the names very closely otherwise she would’ve fixated on the fact that there was another member of her clan on her team. It seemed like she was going to be the one to beat. Her attention fully focused on Kimi now and her eyes narrowed to a fine point. “We don’t need to waste time on introductions. What we should be doing is training. I’m not going to tolerate anyone slowing me down.

Location: Training ground 17Lumika Suto
_______________________________________________
Embarassment was not in short supply for Lumika, she just tumbleweeded herself into a training dummy and then she smelled like lavender covered in ash, and to top it all off she just did that in front of someone of the uchiha clan. she didn't know a lot about them but she did know they were a big deal. "I was trying to help you. I would say my mission was successful." Lumika said crossing her arms trying to play off her mistake and hide her blushing cheeks as much as she could, while still on the ground.

Lumika hiked her legs up and flipped herself back to her feet without using her hands, her arms still crossed. "Ooo you like training!? me too, I've been out here for hours practicing some moves. Then I heard your jutsu and I thought you were in trouble from the ferocity of your attacks!" Lumika said uncrossing her arms showing visible excitement as she pantomimed the whole situation. "Hi Kimi Uchiha, I am Lumika Suto from Sunagakure! you can just call me Lumika, I think its easier, what would you both prefer I call you?" Lumika quickly changes subject realizing she forgot to acknowledge Kimi's introduction and return the greeting due to her earlier excitement. "I can't wait for us all to train together!" Lumika said with a big Suto grin and a shining thumbs up.

Burai Kasei

Burai's week had, at least in his eyes, been a fun one.

Lunch at Ken's family home was... an experience, certainly. His mother had been surprisingly pleasant, (which perhaps made sense, given that she was clearly no Hyuuga by blood), and had reacted positively, if a little stiffly, to his occasional probing. Equally, his male teammate seemed to have utterly missed his subtle attempts to flirt with the woman (again, she hadn't really reacted, but Shiori's chakra had brightened with amusement, so he considered it a success), which he considered as fortuitous as it was utterly hilarious. He and his Uncle Jou had been in fits when he'd got home. Oddly, Shiori had seemed genuinely content for most of the time they'd spent there, a little of her aura's general malice appearing to fade beneath the surface. It had been... Pleasant, he supposed. It helped, of course, that Kenshiro's response to his summoning spoof was utterly perfect. His panicked hissing to stop, and the accompanying quickening of his chakra to a frenzied pace had sent him breaking down into peals of laughter. Amusingly, the Yokai he'd been invoking wasn't even a malicious one; Rather, it was one of the clan's guardian spirits, who would purportedly ward off any attacks on defenceless Kasei by vengeful demons.

The remaining days had passed in something of a blur, between his frantic work to familiarise himself with his Water element and Jou's constant needling about the presence of both a Hyuuga and a (supposedly) very attractive young woman on his team. Truthfully, he wouldn't say he was particularly interested in such things at present. In his own opinion, there was far too much in his life as it was to waste time on boyish romances. (That wasn't to say he'd necessarily be opposed to the idea, of course...)

His focus flitted between his teammates, zoning out their busy surroundings, but quickly drifted again. He wouldn't deny that he was anxious. He'd been waiting for a week to meet his teacher, and, although he'd never admit it, had placed rather too much pressure on himself as of late. With any luck, he wouldn't fail too spectacularly at the water bullet technique today...

Frankly, he thought with some humour, he just hoped the teacher wasn't a Hyuuga.

He would patently deny that he'd snorted out loud at that.

Natsuo Aburame"Everyone talks big till there’s a bug in their mouth. Then they can’t talk at all, cause of the bug in their mouth!"
_______________________________________________

“Alright guys, remember, three minutes is the time to beat.” Said Natsuo, standing over the open mouth of a large clay jar. In one hand he held a boiled chicken tied up with string and dangling over the mouth of the jar, and in the other hand a battered looking stopwatch. The dark contents of the jar rattled and clicked, making a noise like ball-bearings clattering against each other.

Natsuo’s eyes looked intently to his watch, the chicken, and the kikaichu clicking in the jar below him, before declaring ‘GO!” and dropping the chicken into the jar. The contents of the jar hissed loudly and the string tied to his hands jerked around like a hooked fishing line as Natsuo watched the seconds tick by on his watch.

Rather than agonize over who his new teammates would be, Natsuo had decided to work on his own projects the morning before his team meeting. He had extensive notes on nearly everybody in class, but by his estimate there were at least 18 potential students he could be matched with now that Kiyoshi had gotten injured and everyone was being reshuffled, which left him more reading to do than he could reasonably remember. He’d have to let himself be surprised.

Whatever the case, his experimental carnivorous Kikaichu were sure to be useful. Once the string between his hands had stopped jerking around and the clicking noises had mostly subsided, Natsuo pulled the mostly-bare chicken skeleton out of the jar and clicked his stopwatch. He jotted down the time in a notebook - three minutes, 15 seconds - and placed the bones aside for later study before pulling on his coat and heading to the town gates, where a gaggle of students were already waiting to hear from their jounin.

Natsuo was still so preoccupied thinking about the chicken bones and why his kikiachu seemed to be stagnating in their eating times that he missed most of the Senju’s introduction. Ichika's short speech snapped him (and near all of the other students) back to attention, however. Natsuo had never heard the word ‘tomfoolery’ before, but he knew he wouldn’t be doing any of it, whatever it was. The news of his new teammate came as a surprise to him.

Natsuo’s previous team had him paired with a Hyuuga and an acrobatic weapon user, for whom he was the obvious long range position and likely to be the strategist. However this team had no such obvious weaknesses. Yue was brilliant, in his estimation. The way she combined Nara and Yamanaka techniques made her very difficult to beat and she barely needed support most of the time. And then Tomoyuki had the one-tail. Any one of them could have buoyed their own individual team to victory. As arrogant as it sounded, the fact was that arranging the three of them together almost guaranteed that other teams would fail their chunnin exams. He had to wonder why.
