Sakana comes from the Uragiri clan -- a clan whose name literally means 'traitorous' -- and as such enjoys a murky, illicit reputation in all five of the Great Shinobi Villages. The Uragiri clan originated from Kirigakure -- and owes their 'fishy' appearance to that location -- but during a great exodus from Kirigakure during the Sengoku Jidai, were forced to flee from more powerful clans. Most of the Uragiri's clans shinobi's died during this time, reducing their power further. They wandered aimlessly into the territories of Kumogakure and sought asylum in the newly built village, but they were easily framed for a murder and were chased from the land of clouds.

Trekking onwards through the mountainous regions they continued to Iwagakure, hoping to finally find some respite, but they were denied access here due to the charges that were laid against them in Kumogakure -- the same happened in Sunagakure, who did not wish to harbor criminals.

They finally found refuge in Konohagakure, who accepted them, but were forced to move two years after settling down there when a Kumogakure shinobi instigated a brutal fight with an Uragiri clan member in the streets. Not wishing to have a political situation arise, the Hokage at the time threw the Uragiri clan out.

From here the Uragiri's wandered to the land of Mud, that would later become the birthplace of Amegakure -- and aided in it's founding. Despite playing a pivotal role in the establishment of Amegakure, the Uragiri remained in the background of the village -- the fact that they had few shinobi and mostly civilians put them on the background of the village. This continues into today, a few hundred years later.

While the clan only provides a few average shinobi, there are exceptions to this rule, namely Sakana and his sister Unagi, who exceed expectations placed upon them by the clan itself.

Sakana was born only two years before Unagi, and as a young child was often left alone with caretakers from the clan as their parents worked a lot and were, generally, never home. As a result, Sakana and Unagi got along quite well in so far siblings can get along. When Sakana was enrolled into the academy at age 6, it was quite clear that his sister would follow along 2 years later.

Sakana excelled in class, proving to constantly be in the top 10 percentile of the class, performing extremely well in ninjutsu and taijutsu, among others. His academic pursuits were also quite good, and he proved to have a firm understanding of the workings of chakra.

When he graduated at age 12, he joined an existing team, and replaced a genin that had gotten wounded and was no longer able to be a shinobi. While originally kept away from combat, it was inevitable that at some point Sakana would need to engage in it. This happened during a mission where his team was sent to guard the perimeter of Amegakure and respond to a reported intrusion by foreign shinobi -- during the skirmish against Konoha trespassers their sensei was caught in a genjutsu and Sakana took charge of the team despite being less experienced and younger than all other members of the team, being only 15.

Due to this, the team was able to fend off the aggressors until the Bodagado arrived to aid them. He was promptly promoted to chunin for his leadership skills, and two years later promoted to jonin to fill in a slot as a team-leader, to cover the growing need for shinobi in preparation for the inevitable war that would soon erupt.



The Uragiri clan is relatively unknown, even in Amegakure. They provide mostly standard civilians in Amegakure who work in the industrial plants creating metal and tools. They all stand out, however, due to the black and yellow eyes that run in their family - any Uragiri clan member is recognizable by their eyes. This trait, while genetic, can be recessive and there are very few Uragiri clan members who do not have these eyes - but they do exist. In such a case the clan members can be identified by their clan icon, which is a set of black and white koi circling each other. The image is fitting, given that their eyes give them a somewhat fishy appearance.

The clan is primarily (90%) just pure civilians that mostly work in shops or the industry. The remaining 10% are shinobi, like Sakana. And, while they are good at what they do, they are typically not very well renowned - not because nobody likes them or so, but just because they are pretty average all together. For that, Sakana and Unagi are pretty much the two exceptions.

Sakana's motives are linked closely to the following 5 things: fate, fame and glory, respect, godhood. Despite his belief in fate (and the uncontrollable nature of it) he believes that he is destined for great things and is worthy of fame, respect and glory, and has worked hard to obtain it. A secret, but very present motive is that Sakana aspires to achieve 'shinobi godhood' and to surpass even those legendary shinobi like the sannin -- to be as great as Uzumaki Nagato, Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Madara and all their peers.

Although the use of such word is hardly believable as a proper manner of of describing Shogai, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of this confident individual's appearance is his style. From his pair of blue eyes, to a swept back red mane, to the certain fine suit he wears, it's easy to tell that this man is either dedicated to his own aesthetic or at the very least he tries. Other than that, it's worth to note that he carries sharp eyes with a certain intensity in them.

Typically, believe it or not, he wears suits. They vary in color and the tie is very likely somehow linked with whatever is happening that day. If he's caught in an unexpected situation, he's likely to exchange ties to a more fitting one for the ungoing event- it's his 'lucky omen'.

His clan. His biggest motivation is to prove true what has always been said to him, that his destination is to become a great shinobi. He doesn't know what truly that means entirely as there are many manners of great shinobi, but he knows he's not even close yet.

A.

Self applied.

Coats the chakra in a layer of suiton chakra. It is thin, but concentrated and one would only notice a slight blue hue hovering over Shogai's skin. This hidden technique is extremely flexible, as while active, it will provide him with a signicant resistance to fire jutsu and may offer minor to medium protection against taijutsu and other fields of combat.

He's not immune at all, but resistant. Punishing him hard will still hurt. Raiton is obviously a weakness. He can only keep it active for a minute at most and it will be risky for him, because this jutsu takes an extremely high level of chakra control and concentration to keep it active.

B.

Short/medium. Applied through contact with the water.

A genjutsu where the user produces a serie of handseals and then expels water from their mouth a short range away. Although the quantity and pressure of the water is harmless- compared to being thrown water from a bucket or similar at most, this jutsu entraps those hit by it in a genjutsu where they feel as if they are being constantly crashed by tidal waves, losing control of their movements temporarily, until breaking free from the technique.

The danger in this technique is the way it is applied, but it is also exactly how most shinobi will find out it is a genjutsu. Breaking free is a matter of powering through it and releasing yourself, I guess.

C.

Self applied.

Creates a round shaped grid with raiton chakra, with many thin lines spreading in a moderate area around him. The grid all connect to his skin, showing an impressive display of chakra control - while the lightning grid doesn't hurt and simply causes a tingling sensation at most, because of how low chakra is applied to it, it will inform Shogai immediately of anything that moves inside it, much like a neural synapse, it is instant- meaning that he will respond without delay while inside it.

Impossible to use with his hidden techniques. Can't maintain for very long, either.

C.

Melee.

Touches a surface or opponent with the tip of his fingers, invoking a powerful burst of raiton chakra that will propulse things away- Shogai can creatively use this to propel himself from the ground with a powerful speed burst, change his direction midair (at the risk of hurting himself, probably) and more. Basically, he needs to be touching something with all five fingers and then cast this jutsu to either launch himself or launch someone.

If its not plainly obvious, Gareki's left arm is nearly dessicated. For a reason he refuses to elaborate on his arm is constantly being dried of its moisture. After years of adapting to this painful process, he no longer feels much of any pain in his left arm. Likewise, an apparatus is seemingly connected to his wrist, something else one would never hear him speak on. Other than that, young Gareki is an unpolished boy inwardly and somewhat of a braggart outwardly. He stands from head to toe at 5'7" for those interested in the particulars.

Typically one could find, Gareki wearing the clothes above when not being assaulted by Amegakure's rain. When out and about under Her tears, he's usually carrying a burgundy umbrella. Fun fact, the red overcoat he wears was given as present by a friend. He wears it with pride, along with a few trinkets as well. He appears flashy and idiotic, wearing the clothes he does in the rain, but behind every choice of clothing (anything he does really) is some form of sentimentality.

Gareki Minashigo or Minashigo Gareki, whichever you prefer, did not always carry that name. For many years he was nameless. He was the scary-new-boy, the ass(ash)-haired punk that started fights far too easily and spoke little-too-none. His early years at Minashigo-In Koyo Sabisu was harsh and fatally depressing. Out of every ten, there was perhaps one, that came without an edge or emotional baggage. It was just unfortunate that Gareki wasn't one of those fairy jewels. No, he was coarse and unpolished. He knew very little coming into the orphanage and it showed. The kids often picked at his lack of "common sense" as they would call it. Just as he would pick apart how they would cry about dead parents, siblings, or just being orphans in general. He could do that cause he wasn't sure if he had lost anything in particular. His mind was foggy and for all he had known, Amegakure and the orphanage was his home.

Time and isolation changes people, Gareki learned that at a young age, let's say six or seven, the specifics aren't clear. However, what is pristine in his mind is that he had made friends. He had found his niche, his alcove away from the gentle loneliness. Because remember, he was never truly abandoned. His group of friends were called the Umbrella Accord. They turned his abrasive nature into a protective force. At times new arrivals would cause chaos, older children would feel entitled and angry at the world. He even acquired his first name from one of them. Gareki often acted as a deterrent for his friends. Eventually, over time, they became something he liked. Something he appreciated.

Still, it was no surprise when it all changed. You see, the orphanage was also a facility that pushed the youngsters towards the shinobi life. Since his arrival all those years ago, Gareki Minashigo had showed an affinity towards violence. He was no prodigy, no born winner, but he didn't have anything holding him back either. He was a clean slate, given only a little to do. So becoming a decent Hidden Rain Ninja was on his bucket list. In the mist of doing so, a weird, horrifically painful, abnormality surfaced. Something that was only hinted at during his stay at the orphanage. Y'see, every other year or so, his left arm would balloon with moisture. And with every year it became worst and worst.

That was until a visiting ANBU figured it as a chakra problem--no wonder medicine wasn't working. After a few months under the watchful eye of the lone ANBU, he was presented with an apparatus that once latched on had desiccated his arm. She explained her theory, that he must be of the highly reclusive, Ayakashi Clan. Hearing the first hints of his past inspired little to nothing in him. That being said, being saved from a life-time of pain had sparked a drive to be like his savior. Ever since he's been training to become an ANBU, hoping to garner their attention through his exploits as a Genin. When he graduated from The Academy, his friends had begun to call him Diamond; short for Diamond-in-the-Rough.



Though it matters very little to Gareki, other more influential ninja may want to know the whispers of his heritage. The ripples they made in Amegakure and their current status. Let it be known that the Ayakashi Clan is a veiled yet very skilled clan. They first appeared in Amegakure a mere century ago, only not many had taken notice of them. How is that doable? one might ask, well you see the Ayakashi is quite literally a family of eleven ninja, who often disguise themselves as civilians. They are not huge or grandstanding, if anything they are more reclusive than their occupation would already presume. To be more precise one would do better to call them assassins.

They have a large assortment of clients, some of which will only do business with certain members of the family. This line of work ended up being something of a spotlight in Amegakure. A village which fiercely guards their boarders and incoming traffic had caught on quick. Much quicker than they were use too. They wanted a share of the riches the clan was bringing in. If nothing else the Ayakashi Clan was steadfast to their traditions, in short they were greedy. Because they refused to bow to village regulations they were forced to flee. Only, to flee from the Arekuruu was no easy feat. Two of their members were killed and another was captured. The captured woman was brainwashed into becoming a loyal member of Arekuruu.

If one was to ask Gareki that question he'd tell you "I don't know". So its a good thing there are records of this youth from the orphanage. Though he lacks a concrete understanding of himself, its very easy to see he loves exceedingly hard and falls even harder. The boy differentiates good and bad, not by the actions one may take but purely on the actions one takes against him. The Arekuruu woman freed him from a pain that tormented him for years, and in doing so unintentionally made herself an idol. His motivations are purely to garner the admiration of the one adult he admires.

Of fairly average height and firm, petite build, Suzuko’s looks are similarly average. In most settings, she wouldn’t particularly stand out on looks alone, so (as if to counter balance that), she keeps to bright reds and yellows in casual environments. Outside, particularly in the rain or on a mission, she has a dark hooded poncho to shroud herself without constricting her any.

One might think the sharp, arid, whipping winds of Sunagakure, and the seemingly endless downpour and humid rancor of Amegakure would feel different. For Tenjin Suzuko, however, they both brought about similar feelings. She had no nostalgia for the sand of her birthplace. Her family migrated from Konoha with some difficulty, Tenjin Teresuke’s expertise with weapons allowing him a place there, on paper. In practice, Sunagakure’s attitudes left them struggling. They had the same money as everyone else, but too often it was ‘no good’. Suzuko grew up an ‘other’, believed to be a compulsive liar, crook, cheat, and degenerate by her peers even before she’d opened her mouth, even though she’d been born there just like them. The brief connections she’d had were by the children who hadn’t known better, quickly pulling away once they found out where her parents were from, or from the occasional adult she’d find in the quieter parts of town, managing a lonely storefront or getting drunk in the day, often being some combination of being too bored, poor, or foreign to shove her away instantly. Perhaps it was Suzu looking for what she wasn’t getting at home: her dad was always away, being too bored, poor, and foreign all at once as he failed to get many contracts, struggling to make ends meet for as long as Suzu could remember.

It didn’t last forever. It couldn’t. Dissatisfied, they left, Teresuke prepared to shamefully return to the home he’s left behind a decade ago, shortly before Suzuko was born. As they left, the sands against her skin only made her think of her loneliness, her heart pounding with anticipation at the idea of what might lay ahead. But a week or so into their travel, Suzu came down with a bad cold. Her parents, worrying for her safety, turned back to the last town they were at, reasoning that it’d be closer, when the vehicle they’d taken themselves and their belongings in lost a wheel. Repairs had taken time, and before they could reach town, a storm they’d been trying to avoid blew in. While crossing a bridge, Teresuke fell into the river trying to remove blockage on the path, and his wife had jumped in to try and save him. Suzuko would see neither of them again. She wouldn’t have even known what had happened, feverish in delusion. Looking back, she always just kind of assumed the wind took them away, as ludicrous as that sounded. At the time she didn’t have anythign to go off but the voices and wind whipping against the vehicle she’d rested in with their possessions as she tried to remain protected. She awoke some days later in a clinic, having been rescued from the abandoned vehicle left in the middle of a common travel route. No one knew what happened, least of all her. Stripped of her home and everyone she’d known in any meaningful capacity, she had nothing. Authorities had been unable to find any relatives to look after her, so Suzuko took matters into her own hands, trying to return to Sunagakure. Going along the road, trying to retrace their steps on her own two feet, she’d gotten lost again rather quickly. The first to find her wasn’t the authorities of the small town she’d ran from, but the Bodagado. En route from Wind to Fire, the small village had been rather close to Amegakure territory, Suzuko stumbling into it unawares. As Suzuko was both lost and a child, however, one with no home or relatives, however, the ensuing confrontation led to four imposing shinobi scaring a small child to tears without even trying. Shinobi as they were, they weren’t monsters, waiting for her to calm down before figuring out the best course of action. They didn’t get much conclusive, just that she had no home or family. As Amegakure itself was born of the remains of other nations, it only felt appropriate for the shinobi to bring Suzu to one of the many orphanages. At her age, there was a way she could contribute and find her place, after all. In a tenuous time where the world was in a strained state of peace, there could never be enough soldiers.

Suzu didn’t have much of a choice: it was either become a shinobi or be forced to fend for herself, and Suzu didn’t want to be alone. She began training, possessing no exceptional ability. But that was fine: though awkward, she wasn’t hated or excluded. Amegakure possessed all types. Even if she wasn’t the most talkative, she liked being around others. Upon being assigned her first team, it got even better. Long periods of time spent together meant closer bonds. And closer bonds meant more pain when they were ripped away. A rudimentary scouting mission to the Land of Earth had led to their sensei being hit by a sneak attack and plummeting off a cliff to his death. Alone and without leadership, the genin were outmatched. They broke into a retreat, Suzu not once looking back. Returning to Ame, she was alone, and none of her comrades joined her. She had been the only one to survive the mission’s failure, and though she took it hard, she couldn’t let her despair crush her if she wanted to eat. Two years after her graduation to Genin, she had to redouble her efforts so that she, one who’d abandoned her comrades, would be accepted by other teams. Living in near poverty, it wasn’t until she became a Chuunin about a year later that she was able to consistently find work. This time, she knew the struggle of shinobi work, and the danger it posed. She or her allies could be dead at any time, so in what she believed to be a wise move, she kept herself at bay. Celebratory meals for a job well done always occurred when she ‘had something else to do’, and meetings outside of work she kept brief. But that too ended in failure. Despite keeping her distance, seeing a comrade in front of her, begging for her help while their legs had been severed by a blade left those cries gnawing at her heart. The muffled scream of another team mate as they were drowned in their mind by a Genjutsu, leaving them to suffocate failed to leave her dreams. The last one had been on her: she, the most experienced one on the squad after the other two died, took charge, not intending to let the mission end in failure again, pressing on. She’d tried to lead the counterattack, to put herself in front of her junior, but in the thick of combat she was only able to cover herself. They had successfully killed the targets: deserters. Ame shinobi whom she could not help but to see an alternate version of herself in, a failed self much like her father who fled because he was unable to find a place in the world. But standing in the rain over the bodies of enemy and comrade alike, she was cold, and once again, alone.

This was Suzuko’s most recent mission. After a period of brief recovery, she requested to be put back on the force as soon as possible. Some had called her cursed. Maybe she was cursed, maybe she’d go through her life the constant ‘only survivor’. Maybe that was fine. If she had one desire, it was to survive.
