Misaki Mori"Challenging me? Really? You must really like getting crushed underfoot."
_______________________________________________
Misaki was lighter than the others and landed in the forest canopy relatively unharmed aside from some scratches and some tears in her clothing. Her legs were working again and she supposed the adrenaline from being hit by that hammer seemed to have awakened the last of her nerves... even if she was rattled from the blow. Ts! That duck guy was fluid alright. He swung that hammer like it was nothing... he'd lined up his shot and hit them all at once. At least she was away from the boys. Now that her legs were working again, she didn't know if she could have stopped herself from beating either of them senseless... assuming she could...

She spitefully thought back to Hiro's dismissive outstretched hand, snarled involuntarily, and then shivered. She expected to lose to a jounin... but to have been so soundly defeated by someone her own age... it was more than she could bear. She'd never get back to Suna now and L-Lola-sensei... would be so disappointed. She hugged her arms and then shook the thoughts away. Ts! Bastard! She'd trounce him and then leave this place triumphant! She straightened her skirt, which had been caught on a branch, and then made her descent to the ground below. It looked like she'd been knocked pretty far from the training ground and who knew where the others were. She didn't even hear Jin making some stupid pronouncement. With any luck, he'd been knocked unconscious.

She landed softly on the summer loam and moved quietly and agilely from behind the trees. There was no telling when the duck man would emerge again. Probably he was hiding in a tree and would drop down. She involuntarily looked over her shoulder. Nothing. Ugh. Probably that duck man knew exactly where they all were and was just biding his time...

A roar broke her out of her anxiousness and into a fighting stance. Was that... a bear?!? Was there a bear nearby?!? She looked towards where she thought she heard the sound coming from and decided to give it a wide berth. What was she going to do? She'd heard that bears could climb almost as fast as they could run, but she couldn't imagine that they could jump from tree to tree, could they? That would be ridiculous, right? A bear was like six hundred pounds! She climbed the nearest tree, trying to get back to the canopy, right where she'd started off.

Shiori Spiga"Once you’re devoured, it doesn’t matter who you were before."
_______________________________________________

The Hyuuga likened it to Jin Kani, but Burai was no more like the Ridiculous Crab than Shiori was herself, she thought after they’d finished answering their jounin. The difference was that while Shiori was fully aware that helping the village become it’s best meant putting a Spiga in the Hokage’s chair and devouring everyone in their way, Burai seemed to have deluded himself into thinking what he wanted was to be some sort of selfless inspirational hero.

But Shiori had been watching closely, and its actions pointed to its true desires. Burai wanted power, and that Kasei chip on its shoulder carried with it a desire for vengeance on everyone who had callously disregarded them, especially the lauded clan of the Hokage. Jin Kani would never have insulted Yumei Hyuuga to its face, or played at frightening the Hyuuga in their own home. It didn’t have the intellect. No, Burai was smarter than that. It wanted the Hyuuga, the village, and the world to recognize it’s power. If it ever got out of it’s own way and embraced it’s true desires, it may have a good chance at becoming the male Shiori would kill to prove her loyalty to the Hyuuga once and for all.

But for now it was just a boy, ignorant to it’s desires and living a childish dream. Boys rarely knew what they wanted anyway.

Shiori lifted her goofy set of carciatured buckets quickly and quietly without acknowledging her teammates whatsoever. She kept her eyes forward while they walked, and in her position at the front of the line, gave the boys a perfect view to stare at her as much as they liked while they trudged along to the training grounds. She supposed Burai would have no interest whatsoever in following a pretty girl’s backside, but there was no sense giving up the advantage now just because it wasn’t perfect. In time they’d be falling over themselves to do favors for her. For now she put on a mask of stoicness, not unlike the one she believed Burai wore everyday.

She rounded a corner, and suddenly caught movement out of the corner of her eye. “Look out!” shouted a child’s voice, and a volley of wooden shuriken came flying out right at them. She lunged out of the way as gracefully as she could muster, but the momentum swung her bucket a bit too far - water rose up out of it, and then suddenly stopped in midair. Kenshiro had caught it, and deftly channelled it back into her bucket. It was an impressive use of chakra, and it let them get to the training ground without delay.

Once they’d placed down their buckets, Shiori warmly approached the teammate that helped her.

“Thank you so much, Kenshiro. It seems it is the best at handling water. I always appreciate power.” She said with a smile.

Location: Meeting with the Kumo-Nin Mizuraki Senju
_______________________________________________________________________________
It would be a bold-faced lie to say that Mizuraki was surprised by Hideo ignoring her, in fact at this point she was certain that he was just trying to anger the leaf shinobi simply because he had the authority to do so. It was genuinely trying her patience but she could practically hear the scolding that Ichika would give her...And the following one that Seiji would give her...AND the following one that Katsuyu might likely give her, it was in her best interest to remain quiet. Botan seemed incredibly nervous and she could quite honestly understand why. This was a difficult scenario to be in, especially when she learned more about just who was involved and the set up the enemies had. It was a bad situation for them. Mizuraki didn’t say anything for the time being...Though when the Kumo ambassador claimed that fighting a legendary swordsman would be fun she couldn’t help but glare harshly at him. This wasn’t a game! People could die here and he thought this would be “Interesting” it took every fiber of her being not to chew him out right then and there.

Despite the Jounin remaining quiet the scolding found its way to her anyway, causing Mizuraki to pout a little bit in embarrassment and avert her gaze from Ichika. She mumbled something that resembled an apology but didn’t repeat it. With that out of the way the serious and focused expression soon returned to the Senju woman’s face as she turned back to the group and brought her hand up to her own chin. “She’s not amphibious.” she said rather flatly. “But Katsuyu is tall enough that she would be able to ferry a large group of us across. Plus she’s able to fight at range and protect whoever she’s carrying. She won’t be comfortable with the salt in the water but she would be able to manage it.” it seemed like she was talking to herself, vocalizing her thought process more than speaking to everyone present.

Mizuraki focused her eyes upon the ground now while they narrowed to a point. “Whoever goes with Katsuyu needs to be able to either fight at range or deflect any possible projectiles that Katsuyu might miss. They also better treat her well!” she got a little impassioned at that last part. “If I were the enemy though. I would be expecting the main attack force to come from the tunnel...After all who is going to seriously sail up to them while they have such a distinct advantage. There’s no way the tunnel isn’t heavily guarded, I would stake my life on it.” Mizuraki finally raised her glance from the ground. “My clones could investigate and probe the tunnel for more information. Or we could lead a clone assault through the tunnels as the diversionary force and let Katsuyu and the rest of the group pick off whoever is left on watch.” Normally Mizu would be giggling like an academy graduate about the concept of chicken summons but not right now. The situation was far too important.

Ichika Uchiha“Peace earned through communication is just and true, but without the strong to protect those who would shepherd in such an age... Everything will be lost. Power is absolute.”
_______________________________________________

Nodding solemnly as Mizuraki proposed her plans, smiling in wonder at the brilliance of her mind, and that certain something that the woman had when she spoke. It was captivating to listen to her. Ichika wanted to kick herself for not suggesting a clone assault as the point came up, because between herself and the Senju Jōnin alone, they would be able to muster ten additional combatants; which would be more than enough to provide a significant distraction. Given the martial prowess of the two women, Ichika wagered that such an attack may even be enough to outright break the enemy lines. Though that was not a gamble she would be willing to stake the lives on nine children on. As Mizuraki finished speaking, Ichika looked over to the children, whom were seemingly mixing quite well when another possibility struck her.

"There is also another option...we have among us the host of the one tail. It is fairly common knowledge that the Jinchuriki of that tailed beast is granted the ability to control sand. With Tomoyuki-kun's assistance, and that of anyone else present whom is skilled with earth-realease; I could form a great earth and stone dragon. With this method we could circumvent their defenses entirely by dropping into combat from above, I additionally believe that I should be able to hold the jutsu for long enough to provide aerial support, should we drop sequentially. Any among us with significant long-ranged jutsu could bombard the enemy position from above, whilst the more close ranged specialists can secure a landing zone. Ultimately, as our commander I believe that the decision lies with you, Hideo; and I shall support whichever course of action you believe is best to take." The Uchiha had said, elaborating upon her new idea as she went. In truth, Ichika believed that the aerial assault was the plan with the highest chance of success with fewest casualties. Although a frontal assault using her own and Mizuraki's clones as a first wave, whilst another team 'sailed' to the island upon the back of Katsuyu would likely yield a similarly high success/casualty rate.

With nothing else to say and her opinions made clear, Ichika turned away from the group momentarily before taking a seat atop a small nearby rock formation, with a single knee bent and both feet solidly supporting her posture. Resting her right arm on the bended knee before closing her eyes, taking a moment to listen to her surroundings. The crashing waves around her, the songs of the birds, and the chattering of the children. All things that aided her in clearing her mind, and focusing. Now ready for the coming engagement.

Kimu UchihaFirebrand of the Uchiha
_______________________________________________
The Uchiha girl looked over at her sensei as Eri had set out an order. She and Rina needed to fight each other and Lumika was going to try and prevent the two from hurting each other. Kimi nodded her head as she gave a mock salute "Got it, Boss" Kimi said as she did a quick stretch before she got ready, awaiting their sensei's signal. She glanced over at Lumika for a moment, wondering what the blonde's first moves were. She was tasked to stop them, so Kimi knew she would give it her all. That was when Eri signaled for the battle to begin. Rina was fast. Yet, Kimi was prepped for it. They're from the same clan, after all, meaning training was the same. Kimi quickly moved to the side to avoid the punch.

Before she had a chance to swing a kick in retaliation, Lumika had appeared and suddenly just superplexed Rina. Kimi stood there perplexed at that just happening. She wasn't sure whether to laugh or not. She didn't even have time to react when Lumika had suddenly moved and was now carrying her and running around the field with her on her shoulder. The uchiha girl was squirming to try and get out of Lumika's grip, but the blonde had a strong grip. Frowning, Kimi knew that she needed to fight Rina and somehow get out of Lumika's grasp. The Uchiha glanced over at her blade that she had stepped on her back. A idea flashed in her mind. It's crazy, but it'll work. Kimi reached over and grasped the hilt of her blade before she pulled it out of her sheath and suddenly stabbed it on the ground, gripping it tightly. Due to the heavy blade, it helped Kimi get out of Lumika's grasp.

The Uchiha did some handsigns before grasping her blade as her eyes landed on Rina. There was suddenly static of electricity running along her blade before she held it in the air "Lighting Slash!" she yelled as she swung her blade before a slash of lighting was rushing toward Rina as Kimi placed her blade away and suddenly flickered away from sight. If Rina had dodged the attack, Kimi would suddenly appear near her as she did a few handsigns before taking a deep breath. Kimi was using a technique that they both knew too well. "Great Fire ball jutsu!" Kimi suddenly lets out a steam of powerful flames at Rina.

Location: Training ground 17 Rina Uchiha
_______________________________________________
Rina would have been disappointed if such a basic strike had caught a fellow Uchiha off guard in such a manner. The smirk that appeared on Rina’s face while the other girl dodged her strike was unmistakable joy at the fact that this wasn’t going to be another one sided battle. “N-” she was about to speak, to pivot to the left and launch another strike but she suddenly found herself grappled. Rina let out a noise of pure confusion before she was tossed backwards like she barely weighed anything at all. ‘WHAT!?’ she screamed in her own head before rolling through mid-air and landing on her feet, skidding along the ground to see just who had the gall.

That idiotic blonde again! She was seriously going to try and get in their way? She had thought her supposed “Sensei” was screwing with them...This fool was going to keep getting in her way? Rina grit her teeth and entered into her fighting stance once again. If she insisted on getting in the way again? She was going to deal with her, herself. The other Uchiha broke away from Lumika and sent a slash of electric chakra toward her. Rina quickly jumped into the air and watched while the chakra flew past her and sliced into the nearby forest, impacting a tree or two as it went. “Tch.

The moment Rina landed back on the ground though, that was when the real attack had made itself known. Kimi had appeared nearby and performed a familiar set of hand signs. Rina’s eyes widened for a moment before she began to counter with her own set of signs...However hers were likely unknown to Kimi, as this was a technique that she herself had designed. “Fire style: Phoenix Protection Jutsu!” she quickly screamed out as her body began to sear with an orange glow. Flames coated her body in a protective layer of chakra. She had a limited time to make use of this ability so she would have to be quick.

Rina threw herself forward with great speed and did her best to pass through the fireball mostly unharmed. The protection of the Phoenix flickered and sputtered while she passed through the great Uchiha clan’s staple technique but it managed to hold itself until she had exited through to the other side. The Uchiha was scorched and scuffed, and panting a bit harder now but she had managed to take the attack exceptionally well all things considered. Rina narrowed her eyes at her target but she knew that Lumika wouldn’t be far behind to try and interfere again...With that in mind she chose a technique that would give that stubborn blonde some pause and allow her to keep attacking both her AND Kimi at the same time.

Rina formed a series of hand signs and inhaled deeply, seemingly charging up a great fireball of her own. However once the final sign was completed Rina jumped into the air. “Fire style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!” once those words were spoken she began to spit out multiple blasts of fire from her mouth, aiming them squarely at where Kimi was standing.

Hideo Sarutobi"Compromise is a lie told to abdicate duty."
_______________________________________________
"I can handle long range from the water", Botan chimed in, raising his hand slightly as if he were back in school. Hideo nodded to Botan and Ichika and tapped his temple as if pressing a button. Indeed, his eyes widened for a moment and then his eyebrows furrowed, but then his face fell into non-expression again. He addressed Mizuraki flatly, "Your suggestion is meritorious. We will use the clones to explore and flush out the underground, but we will do so in two staggered waves. We will need a team to stay behind and follow through after the way has been cleared or until threat has been assessed. We will need a way for the team behind to reach the island, if the underground proves unable to be traversed. Attacking the shore will require a large enough force to breach their defenses and we will be at a disadvantage. We can only assume that they chose an island for its defensibility. They must be able to use the water. For this to work, we must reach the shore."

Hideo to each of the assembled shinobi before proceeding any further, "I will stay behind and lead the underground team. I am the least important of us and I stand the best chance of survival, if our enemies decide to collapse the tunnel. Our most powerful forces should be focused on the beach. Decide among yourselves who I will lead into the caves and who will take to the sea. I presume you are more aware of your charges' abilities than I am", he said with a lazy wave of his hand. He unceremoniously began to walk away only to slightly turn and say, "Ichika, I must talk to you before we begin... follow", and walked into the woods.

Tenshi Hokori

When the clone suggestion was made Tenshi thought about it as it had a lot better chance at success then his. He could also pitch in with clones, while he couldn't make many he could assist if needed. Then Ichika mentioned a jinchuuriki, the leaf had brought one with one of the teams. This was news to him and he knew about the cloud's team having one as well he went silent for a second. His demeanor changed and he said softly and under his breath, "If it can be helped I rather we not throw any of our jinchuuriki into this kind of line of fire. Cant afford either losing control should something go south on the island."

Tenshi didnt want to say they shouldnt use the two young genin as he understood their plight, but with the unknown of the enemies forces on the island bringing in the unstable elements of the tail beasts in could just add more trouble to the situation. Tenshi glanced over at his brother remember when the eight tails went on a rampage they didnt need either of their jinchuuriki's tailed beasts to go on a rampage here or most likely everyone would would lose their lives on this mission if they had to try and stop a full rampage of either of the two beasts. Also he was worried if something would happen to either blame might end up on either village that could cause another conflict to happen to between his village and the leaf.

As he thought over the plan he noticed Hideo mentioned how he is unimportant should anything happen to him Tenshi quickly said, "That's enough of that you might think you are just a simple shinobi, but you cannot put yourself into great danger for this mission. As relations currently stand I cannot allow you to risk your own life on this mission I hope you can understand this Hideo. My mission is to broker peace between our two villages, if something were to happen to any leaf shinobi while teaming with those from the cloud then blame could be put on the cloud. The same the goes other way around so we need to be careful." Tenshi's seriousness starts to kick in as he goes more into mission mode rather then his lazy happy go lucky personality. He knows a mission must get done and he had his own mission he had to keep going as well.

Then after a few moments he says as he goes staight into more mission talk, "If we go with the clones, maybe we have the clone team sneak to the island in the dead of night. Get into place and maybe eliminate some key targets or sabotage some things on the island so we can get to the other groups closer. If both of you Ichika and Mizuraki can get to the island at the dead of night. You both can do some recon before the main teams arrive, if something is off or goes wrong, you both could have a bit of time to give out a warning to have the other teams call off their approach. Now, yes Hideo you might be the best to getting through the tunnels but this could give us a better window to act with. But I am just a simple chuunin what to do I know." The simple chuunin was a small jab towards Hideo from his constant talk previously just saying he is just a simple shinobi.

Then Hideo went through the rest of the plan. Tenshi thought about it some more the third team he then says, "Not to say something different Hideo, the team that stays behind. That team should have both villages jinchuuriki to keep them out of harms way the most. And yes for some reason Botan has one on his team out on this mission as well. And brother you and I will have a discussion about that once the mission is complete, but should the worst happen that team should go and retreat. As much as I am willing to dive into battle if someone would happen to Kamui or your guys jinchuuriki I wouldnt want to imagine the backlash that would result from that." As he thinks about what his mother would do if one of their jinchuuriki got killed while on a mission with the leaf, it would just prove she was right about his mission to the leaf was wrong and wouldn't only end in failure. Tenshi wanted to do everything in his power to make this mission be successful without any casualties.

Team Botan NakanoKamui Kaiyou | Makaira Kumonga | Arisu Ayaname
_______________________________________________

"Yeah, and three decks of cards", Maka replied raising an eyebrow. With Botan-sensei talking with the others, only one Konoha genin had the guts to approach and, judging from his appearance, he was unusual for his people. That his first statement had been so direct was almost refreshing. It wasn't as if Maka wasn't used to people staring or trying not to look or talking around the mention of arms, but she found that more often than not she had to broach the subject first. She gave a little smirk. This was going to be fun.

"So what's it going to be", she said a little loudly and then called out much louder and almost around the oddly-dressed boy, "Are you the only one brave enough to try your hand at a game?"

Ari giggled and grinned widely and Maka threw a sidelong glance at her and the two met eyes for a moment, knowingly. While sure Ari always tried to outdo Maka, it was an unspoken rule that anyone outside their little team was a common enemy and Maka made sure that any winnings she collected would be evenly distributed between them. It never helped to have a resentful play partner. As much as she may like to rub her victories in Ari's face, Maka knew that if she wasn't at least a little boastful Ari would think she was just using her for funds. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Games like this, chance and skill, where attitude and ingenuity was everything, were Maka's favorite things in the world! It was what made the ninja life so thrilling, win, lose, or draw.

She knew Kamui didn't really approve of her little operation, but he'd never stop her and he'd never raise a hand against her either. Maka liked to think of him as a kind of stern bodyguard or a bouncer. He was more than strong enough to deal with most who may be a little angry at losing. He was such a sensitive guy, but he could be very cold when he was serious. A cold word and his reputation as a jinchuuriki was usually more than enough to dissuade any from pressing too much further. Maka had to get him to play...

One of these days...

True to form, Kamui hadn't bothered to join them when the Konoha-nin had approached either. He'd just kept a soft eye on him, buried his mouth in his scarf, and poked at the remains of the fire. He was muttering to himself, which wasn't uncommon. Maka wondered if all jinchuuriki muttered to themselves at random or if it was just Kamui. He didn't seem to be insane. Maka was pretty confident in that bet.

"So, brave Natsuo, what's your game", asked Maka.

"Do they let you have pocket money in Konoha", asked Ari suspiciously.

Location: Training ground 17Lumika Suto
_______________________________________________
Yes! success! now to- Lumika's thought was interrupted by Kimi escaping her grasp. Lumika slid to a stop as she turned around and cringed as she watched the wave of lighting spark across the training ground Phew Lumika was releived to see Rina dodge it but her dredd at failing the test was awokened once more to see Kimi engulphed Rina in their signature fire jutsu. Lumika's jaw fell to the ground but her face returned to normal once she saw Rina make it through with just some scortched clothing double phew

Lumika was distraught thinking how she was gonna keep them from hurting each other Bing! Lumika just made a realization after thinking about what her sister told her earlier that morning "Remember to give your teacher plenty of respect, and listen to every instruction they give you. they aren't just there to support you, sometimes they need your support too" Remembering this reminded Lumika that Eri-sensai did not say that Lumika couldn't hurt Kimi and Rina, just that they couldn't hurt each other. This realization gave Lumika a big smile "Yes, Sensai"

Now Lumika knew what to do and in a blink, Lumika vanished with speed reappearing behind Kimi, Lumika making a sharp turn in the ground her body sliding behind her pivoting off her right arm sunken into the earth and once she was crouched behind Kimi she simultaneously lifted her arm out of the earth and anyone watching her do this could see a ring of earth appeared around her bicep, her hand pointed straight. With her pointed hand, Lumika sent it straight into Kimi's back while transitioning into a standing position and turning her pointed hand into a fist releasing all the strength she could muster into this one-inch punch. the fist connecting in her back released the earth around her arm and doubled the force of her punch.

Lumika needed to get Kimi as far away from Rina as she could so she could position herself between them and not get burned to a crisp from Rina's fireball jutsu. so Lumika tried to arch her punch a little upwards and intentionally missing her spine "KYAAAHHHH!!" Lumika cried out as she attacked. With Kimi out of the way, Lumika needed to deal with Rina's attack now that she took her place. Lumika did her best to dodge the incoming fireballs but they were much faster then she thought they would be, and explosive, but fortunately because of her clan's kekkei genkai she is used to giving projectiles a wide birth out of habit, but they were bigger then she was used to, managing to dodge all but the last one the explosion engulfing her right side arm and leg, burning her glove and scorching her boot and sachel, her leg wrapping to keep the sachel from chaffing her legs became undone.

Lumika gritted her teeth but with a couple of huffs, she was still ready to fight. Lumika burst at Rina reappearing with her hands on the ground springing herself at Rina locking her ankles around her neck and spinning a full 360 "Hurricane!" she said before she completed her technique "Slam!" Lumika said as she flipped Rina over again tossing her rather than slamming her on the ground trying to position Kimi and Rina both on the battlefield. after Tossing Rina Lumika would move herself to be standing in a split between two of the three close together tall boulders on the training ground and if all was successful she could see both Kimi and Rina on opposite sides of the training ground. allowing her to make more interceptions by having a 180-degree vantage point between her teammates.

Team Mitsuyo
Hana Bohi, Genjin Kani, and Kuroki Kyuusagi

"Did anyone invite Mitsuyo-sensei", asked Kuroki. The bottle was almost empty but he doubted anyone would notice if he filled it up with something cheaper, at this point. He did.

"N-no...", Hana answered looking away.

"I... tried", said Genjin, sipping a newly poured cup that tasted a little different, or maybe he was a little too pickled to taste right, "Sensei was very busy."

"Keh, he's always busy", said Kuroki with a frown, "How'd y'even get in ta see him? Thought he had a thousand layers of security."

"I didn't do anything... illegal, if that's what you mean", said Genjin gloomily, "I left a message with one of his assistants and got a form letter the next day."

Kuroki stroked his chin a little and then lowered himself to meet Genjin's height, as he was a little slumped over, "D'ya think he got it?"

Genjin sighed, "I don't know...", and drained the rest of his cup.

"Should have told him there was a kimono sale at... uh..."

"Kyotique", chimed in Hana with an index finger pointed upwards.

"Hah! Yeah, he would shop there! Y'remember the time he stopped a mission halfway through t'go shopping because his kimono wasn't dramatic enough", replied Kuroki with a chuckle.

"S-sensei had his reasons...", murmured Genjin.

"Or what about the time he -urp- took us on that mission to the Land of Silk that we didn't even need to go on", said Hana a little loudly with her eyebrows screwed up into a somewhat childish anger.

"Hah! Oh yeah!"

"It was for cultural enrichment...", said Genjin defensively.

"We spent the first two weeks at a spa", Kuroki countered, "I've never had cubicles that soft-"

"Cuticles", Hana interjected.

"-And then we got into a fight with the other ninja team that had already been sent on the mission."

"Hm...", said Genjin, turning a little red.

"Oh yeah! And you got knocked out trying to stop the fight."

"I-it was the steam from the sauna... I wasn't expecting to get into a fight in a towel on top of a hot tub with a... a..."

Genjin was now a deep red.

"Hah! So y'fainted? Don't blame you. She was cute. Hah! Oh yeah! And then they drew all over your face while you were passed out!"

"ExcUSE me! But YOU were the one that drew on his face", said Hana, "I tried to stop you... And she wasn't that cute."

"...is that what happened? Well, it was a long time ago...", said Kuroki, like an old mystic, "And you're all still single..."

"S-so are you", Hana exclaimed!

"Yeah, but I don't have to be, losers. I've got lots a'girls trying to tie me down", Kuroki replied with a grin.

"Ts! Lecher...", Hana replied pouring another drink, but then started counting the number of characters on the bottle. Genjin gave Kuroki a dirty look and took the bottle out of Hana's hands. She struggled to get it back, but fell on her face.

"Well, maybe you need a lecher in your life, ever think of that, princess", Kuroki shot back with a sly smile. Hana's face stretched into a look of extreme displeasure and she very shakily raised herself to her full, but somewhat swaying, height and said, "I am perfectly happy being single, thank you very much!"

Genjin's face fell into his lap.

"Hello! I'm not too late am I", said a voice from behind.

Mitsuyo-sensei had arrived.

Ichika Uchiha“Peace earned through communication is just and true, but without the strong to protect those who would shepherd in such an age... Everything will be lost. Power is absolute.”
_______________________________________________

Hideo responded to Tenshi's complaints with a giggle and walked away, beckoning Ichika to follow. With an audible sigh and visible frustration, Ichika rose to her feet from her perch atop the boulder, her eyes rolling as the quiet crunch of her boots flattening the grass beneath her feet became audible as she begrudgingly followed the Anbu operative. Taking no care to silence herself.

<redacted>
<redacted>

Several minutes later Ichika emerged from the woods, her face a visage of rage, whilst Hideo promptly followed suit, looking rather sunny. Many would wonder what had gone on between the two, if they had possessed enough wit to have noted their absence. With a bold stride, Ichika made a beeline for Mizuraki; seemingly brimming with rage. Her fists clenched by her side with her long nails digging into her palms so firmly that her right hand had begun to bleed from the pressure. Despite her profession, and apparent lack of aptitude for all things feminine; Ichika had always kept good care of her nails.

"If he does not die on this mission I am going to kill that impudent child." She growled to her friend, pacing back and forth beside her, hoping to seek counsel from the younger Jōnin.

Koji Takuma
"Do you really want to die?"
_______________________________________________

A man in dark blue shinobi gear kept an eye on the meeting spot within Training Ground 31, a strangely average area with lots of heavy forestry. That was partly what made it different from others, in that others usually had some sort of specialty or gimmick around it, while this one was just a designated patch of trees for training. Up in one of those trees he laid back along a large branch that supported his weight, reading a stack of books he'd brought. At that moment he thumbed through a schlocky 'horror' titled "Snakes in a Hotspring", and on the branch lay a mystery book and a comic of some sort.

Eventually the Man's students would arrive, Captain Takuma's new Cadets. As they each arrived, he recalled what he'd read about each of them. His team was strong, far stronger than he'd expected. Strong, and stubborn. They were bullheaded and overconfident. That was something in them that he'd have to demolish immediately. Once all were there he closed his book, set them aside, and jumped down to meet the three of them. His eyes stopped on Naruko for a second longer than the others. 'Adorable... That's a problem. Will worry about it later.'

Koji was certain that these three would have words for him, either questions, declarations, or what have you, but they would wait. Right away he spoke first before giving them the chance. His voice was loud, clear, and stern without him even having to raise it. The demanding presence of an experienced commander. "I am Koji Takuma and I've been assigned to be your Jounin. However, I do not have to accept any of you. Regardless of what you showed at the academy, I'm not convinced any of you have what it takes to be Shinobi. You'll have to prove it to me. Should you fail to prove yourselves, I'll send you right back to the academy. Should you prove to be useless and lack potential... Then I'll save the village the trouble and just kill you here." The man sternly told all three of them, watching how they'd react, wondering what they would do next.

Burai Kasei

While Burai had enjoyed poking fun at his sensei, he had to admit that the real challenge came from his inability to see the water itself; In the absence of a proper chakra signature, its presence was drowned out by the metal and left him completely blind to it. As the others got ready to move out, he took a moment to ponder his options. If he wasn't in such a crowded area, he'd have considered finding a pole to balance on his shoulders and just taking it slow, but given the circumstances that wasn't much of an option. That avenue closed, he settled for a moment, and focused, allowing his perception to expand. He focused in on the buckets - the tiny insects that flitted over their surface, the imprints of Suto-sensei's hands just barely lingering on the metal. Then, he pinged his chakra, his sight suddenly doubling. The wave brushed gently over his surroundings, and he made sure to tag his teammates, (just in case he needed to find them later), before returning his attention to the water. Again, no real luck, other than a faint glow across the surface.

That did, however, give him an idea. He cast his mind back over the past week, recalling his somewhat amateurish efforts at naturing his chakra for the Water Bullet technique; Specifically, he remembered how, for the first time in years, he'd seen water. It was a flimsy idea, and could easily fall flat, but Burai was anything but a quitter. He flashed his hands into a dog seal, calling on his energy, and touched his a hand to each body of water, willing it to convert to water chakra just as he had been doing for the past week.

For a moment, his face fell at the lack of results, and the flow stuttered, but before he could give up there was a flash of wet as his chakra seeped into the buckets like dye and Stuck fast. A grin spread, uncontained, across his face, and he punched the air once before smiling sheepishly and picking up the buckets, his practised form keeping them as dead steady as possible. With his problem solved, he set off to catch up with the others.

For all he was proud of his steadiness of hand and well-honed form, Burai couldn't help but feel a little Jealous of Kenshiro as they arrived at the training ground. By all accounts, Burai'd done a better job - He'd seen the kid's throw from a mile off, and simply hung back while The others were sidelined. The Hyuuga's casual display of Water Manipulation just... Upset him a little. He supposed he couldn't complain though, he'd only started properly training his element in the past week! He smiled at the buckets, as full as they had been at the fountain.

'Yes, that's something to be proud of for sure!'

He drew his mind back to the present, giving his head a quick shake, and zeroed in on the others, just catching Shiori's schmoozing. He couldn't help but quirk his lips at the girl's attitude, her chakra as layered with smarm and cunning as it was. If he weren't blindfolded, he'd wink at her; She was playing the Hyuuga like a fiddle.

"He's certainly the superior out of the two of you Shiori, that's for sure!" Burai smirked good-naturedly at his team. "I could see that kid's slip-up a from a mile away, and I'm blind." He cast a dry look at Kenshiro, then. "That was a good catch though, Ken-san. Perhaps we could train together later? I have been a little stuck on the Water Bullet technique for a while." His smirk softened into a narrow smile, and he crossed his arms, ready to receive the team's next orders from Suto-sensei.

Unbeknownst to the group, a wayward fly alighted on one of the Kasei's buckets for a drink, and vanished into the water with a hiss, a slight waft of smoke rising into the air...

Nijira Inuzuka
"Don't you dare think that this is over! I won't just feed on the scraps of your glory! I'll beat you, and even then I'll keep pushing! I'll beat every single shinobi in the world! I won't stop until everyone acknowledges me!"
_______________________________________________
"Worried about your first day, little bro?"

"Why would I be worried? I earned my place here!"

It was a rare moment. Ichi and Ni stood on the patio of the house, for once alone together. Ichi's wide grin with his hands placed so carefree behind his head, his easy stance, he towered above his little brother. Ni, meanwhile, kept his arms folded across his chest and glared determinately away, almost holding his breath, almost baring his teeth. Ichi put his hand on Ni's head and ruffled his hair affectionately. Ni raised his shoulders against him.

"It's okay if you are", said Ichi, "I just about pissed my pants on my first day. I was so nervous, I started laughing and punching at everything... Hahah! My jounin bruised me up so bad!"

"Yeah, well I'm not you. I prepared for this. You should have brought a diaper", said Ni, flippantly. Why did Ichi force him to wait for him before he left? Was he too stupid to know that he was just annoying? Probably. Maybe he was trying to fill Ni with doubt. What an idiot! As if Ichi could do something like that. He obviously underestimated Ni's resolve.

"Hahaha, yeah, probably", Ichi replied carelessly, "It's so cool I get to see my little brother go off and become a ninja too. It's like... I never really thought it would happen. I don't know, it's just cool, you know?"

"That's because you don't think about anything. Are you gonna be just as amazed when San gets to be a genin too?"

"Heh, I guess not", said Ichi, "I don't know. I didn't think about it."

"Keh... Of course it's no surprise that San would become a ninja...", said Ni resentfully.

"You're right about that", Ichi said obliviously. Ni's fists tightened. It was just like Ichi to make it clear just how much worse he was than the rest of them. He always knew just how to rub it in his face... And on his first day! Why did he have to be like this?!? Ni couldn't stand it anymore. He turned around to face his brother, his teeth clenched, his shoulders raised, and Komi licking his clenched fist to try to get him to calm down, mewing softly and running around his feet. It worked, a little... Ni pushed his jaw forward.

"It's my day, okay? My day", he said.

"That's right", Ichi replied and made a determined fist, "And if anyone makes fun of your height, just make sure they know that I'll be there to take care of them!"

Ni's eyes went completely wide and he threw a punch right at Ichi's face. Ichi caught it with an open hand and replied, "That's a good punch, Ni. Keep working on it and no one will ever give you any trouble!"

And he made a thumbs up pose.

Ni, meanwhile, had gone completely blank. He just stared at his brother, white as a sheet of paper, and turned around. He didn't hear Ichi say goodbye, didn't see him waiving, didn't even realize he'd been walking until he was halfway through town and almost to the shinobi academy. Had he been on autopilot the whole time? Komi snuggled his leg and he finally looked down. Stupid... He'd walked clear in the other direction... Training Ground 31 was on the opposite side of the village! He knelt down and pet his pup.

"Don't worry... I'm not gonna let him have the last word", he said and hugged Komi to his chest, his eyes welling up a little, which only made him angrier, "Ugh... l-let's get to our team. We're real ninja now."

Komi barked happily and it made Ni smile. He stood back up and Komi ran happily around his legs as they made their way to the training grounds...

...The others arrived at around the same time Jira did and a man descended from the trees shortly after that, explaining that he was a man named Koji and that they all had to prove themselves to him or be sent back to the academy or be killed. His clothes did smell of blood.

"Keh! You're the sensei huh? Well, do your worst. I'm not going to be turned away now or ever by anyone", he declared, crossing his arms. Komi barked twice in emphasis.

Location: Training ground 31Gorudo Hikigae
_______________________________________________
To sleep... To dream. It's the only time when Gorudo can feel like a normal child, not always thinking, not always remembering, not living up to his family's monumental exspectations for him. screaming not Gorudo's screaming, that was internal, but it seems his uncle decided to come over for breakfest this morning and brought there misbehaving childeren. Gorudo's eyes creeped open, but he did not get out of bed, he would just lay there and breath. "Goruuudo? are you up honey? We are waiting for you to start breakfest." His mother said speaking through his screen door "I'm getting up... eventually" Gorudo said partly as a joke "Gorudo, please get up, you know how they get when they dont eat" Gorudo's mother said in responce referring to the members of his family who can get grumpy if they wait for food too long.

It was this plea that motivated Gorudo enough to get out of bed and when his mother heard him get out of bed she would walk back to the dining room. After getting dressed Gorudo left his room and was almost run over by his little cousins running about the hallway, watching them charge back into the dining room around the corner. Things were quiet... too quiet, this morning was far too peaceful sounding for his family, but immediately Gorudo recalled what day it was, today was another tradition in his family, the big family breakfast before his life as a genin as they have done for every one of his sisters who have chosen the life of a shinobi.

Gorudo turned the corner and walked into the dining room to find his whole family sitting at the extraordinary large table with his father and mother sitting side by side in the center, his uncle next to his father with his wife, and his Great grandfather sat next to his mother and surrounding them were his sisters and cousins all waiting for him, Gorudo wasn't surprised by this, but the sight of them all together still made him smile. "SURPRIIIIISE!" his whole family shouted.

Shows over and now the battle begins. not necessarily a fight over food but the clanking and scratching and chewing were akin to listening to a battle reenactment, all the talking and things having to be thrown across the table because of its massive size and the number of mouths to feed. Seating was usually first come first serve but on this day Gorudo was saved a seat right across from his mother and father, "So, are you excited for today?" His mother asked while she was adeptly tossing various sides and entree's across the table to the family "Of course he is! It's another day for him to prove how great he is!" His father answered "I don't think I'm that great, But I am looking forward to my test today! I and Naruko are on the same team!" Gorudo mentioned that part with much more enthusiasm than the other parts "Ugh I don't know why you like hanging out with that girl, she is nothing but trouble!" Otama said reminding him of his disapproval of their friendship "For you maybe.." Gorudo said under his breath intercepting a dumpling and putting it on his plate "Heeeeey that was mine" his sister Kuroyuri said in the distance before another dumpling was tossed to her "What's that?" His dad asked trying to make him speak up "Nothing... I love you dad" Gorudo said while his dad gave him an eye "I love you too buddy, now get some beef, you got a big day ahead of you!" Otama said letting it slide so he can enjoy his morning with his son.

Gorudo enjoyed being able to sit close to his parents as he usually didn't because he is usually last to get up in the morning. if not for being the only boy in his house he would probably feel invisible with 10 other siblings trying to capture his parent's attention, some more than others. Gorudo never really wanted the attention, he gets plenty of ire from his jealous sisters because of his father's seeming favoritism towards him.

After the battle of breakfast, Gorudo left home to meet Naruko on his way to training ground 31, to find her waiting for him right outside the gates to his clans compound, almost meeting nose to nose, Gorudo was surprised to see her waiting especially this close to him "Oh! Hi Naruko I was just about to meet up with you! you scared me hehe" Gorudo said stepping back blushing a little. "I was too excited to wait! They finally assigned us to a team, Goru. There was no way I could just sit and wait around. I can't wait! I'm gonna prove myself. We're gonna prove ourselves and we're going to be the best team out of all of em!" Naruko's excitement was always infectious "Cha! We will show them all who the real top dogs are!" Gorudo said smiling proudly. they have both been excited for this day for the whole week. it was by some miracle that both of them got to be put on the same team, their co-operation would be no problem the only question was if Nijira was gonna gel with them.

Naruko grabbed his arm and in some cases almost dragged him behind as they sped to training ground 31.

At the training ground, Gorudo and Naruko arrived to see their teammate Nijira Inuzika arrive at the same time, and not long their sensai revealed himself, he was glad that everyone seems to be punctual so far. "Yes sensei." Was all Gorudo had to say, he wasn't scared by his threats, none of his sisters ever experienced any real threat of death in their tests, the threats were there sometimes but they all lived through their tests so, he was 90% sure he would be fine no matter what happens...although there is still that 10%

They were doing surprisingly well! and getting along more than she expected, she wasn't sure if they are all playing games with each other or if they were all actually this civil with each other. regardless it seems Kuree is gonna need them to make a little less conversation and a little more action. "Alright Students! It's time for the moment you have been waiting for, your test. Everything leading up to now was just a preliminary test. You did well together, but this next objective, only one of you will be able to attain" Kuree says to all three of them, her upbeat body language fading away "Which I'm sure all three of you know what that means. I only need one student. My clan prioritizes strength above all else, power that can never be taken away from you, If you're ready to achieve that, then show me you can take it!" Kuree says to them opening her hand revealing a rock in the palm of her hand with the symbol for power engraved in it.

"You will still need to carry your buckets, and if you spill them You will have to go back to the town square by yourself while your classmates get to continue without you, because like it or not, whether you are working together or not they are still going to hinder you." said The Mountain, her eyes cold, any ounce of sunlight of her character has been quenched. "Begin..." Kuree said as she remained still, her hand still open with the rock resting atop it, waiting to be taken, waiting to meet its rightful owner.

Location: Meeting with the Kumo-Nin Mizuraki Senju
________________________________________________________________
Mizuraki almost missed that subtle change of Hideo’s face. In fact under most circumstances she probably WOULD have missed that considering how focused she was on the current situation, but she just happened to be looking at him. Was he impressed with her? Or was he just surprised that she was able to string together a coherent thought...Even when he seemed impressed with her he still had the uncanny ability to piss her off. As tempted as she was to just waltz on over there and punch his head clean off his shoulders, she still had her pride and...Well as much of her dignity as could possibly remain after waking up from a night of heavy drinking. The Jounin was admittedly curious about what Hideo could be talking to Ichika about, but it would have to wait.

The time that she had been dreading ever since this mission fell into her lap had finally arrived: Deciding placement. No matter what Mizuraki decided there was going to be consequences and if those consequences cost lives? She would bear them for the rest of her days. It was becoming fairly obvious to her however that the Genin under her charge were probably better off being led into the tunnel. An enclosed space meant that Bakuto would be able to make use of his Taijutsu proficiency as well as his false arm’s tricks. Hiro’s agility based offense might suffer but he would be able to repel projectiles or other attacks in the tunnels as opposed to the massive onslaught he would face were he to sail to the island. And Remi? Remi was very versatile and utilitarian, Remi was the most malleable of the three in terms of approach. She didn’t like the idea of putting people she was in charge of under the care of someone as apathetic and not to mention arrogant as Hideo but it seemed far safer for them to traverse the tunnels than to deal with the frontal assault.

As many scenarios as she ran in her own head to see if there was a way to keep the children by her side she couldn’t really envision one where it ended well for them. They simply weren’t equipped for long range invasions, as dangerous as the underground route will no doubt be it will pale in comparison to the jeopardy the assault would put them in. It seemed she had no choice but to entrust Hideo with their care and hope it didn’t come back to bite her. Mizuraki was so enveloped in her own thoughts she didn’t even hear the furious stomping of Ichika when she started to approach her.

Mizuraki’s focus was still firmly on the scenarios she ran inside her own head until the sudden announcement of violence. “Wha-” she blurted out in utter confusion before watching Ichika pace in pure frustration. Mizuraki’s expression grew pensive while she stood herself up. She could only imagine what he must’ve said to break Ichika’s composure of all people. Mizuraki was feeling infinitely more justified for her earlier irritation with him. “We can take turns.” she said rather matter of factly before placing her hand on Ichika’s shoulder and managing a smile. “Don’t worry though. After this we’ll probably never see him again. And if we do? Well accidents happen.” she was obviously joking, she wouldn’t go out of her way to harm someone unless they were beyond redemption, but she figured the joke might lighten Ichika’s mood a little bit. “Seriously though...It’s like he’s out to push our buttons on purpose.” she was vocalizing her thoughts at this point. “I’m starting to wonder if this is supposed to be a test for us too. Maybe trying to make us lose our cool...There has to be some reason for him being such a bastard right?” She refused to believe that he was simply a bastard for no reason, there was something more to this surely.

Kenshiro Hyuuga
Location: Training Ground 5
Company: Burai, Shiori, Kuree
Injuries: None
Chakra: 95%

Ken's eyes were closed as he seemed to meditate in place, standing up straight and breathing deeply. Any fatigue from the jog was starting to go away rather quickly, but his cardio recovery was interrupted by soft footsteps going towards him. As his eyes opened, Shiori had already gotten close and thanked him for the moment earlier when having to dodge caused water to spill. Again he was glad that he had his mask up, with the sudden surprise of her having come up to him. Her statement about power was strange, both a compliment of his, and showing her interest in such things. His eyebrows lowered slightly, the boy thinking that it made sense for Shiori to chase after the most powerful. It fell very much in line with how she acted otherwise. "Anytime Shiori-san." Burai soon caught up, having been a little behind due to a bit of difficulty with the start. Admittedly Ken hadn't fully noticed how behind Burai had been, and felt a slight tinge of regret at having jogged ahead. The other boy's request would have been accepted anyways, but even more so as a way to make it up to him, Kenshiro nodded right away. "I know a technique quite close to that one, and training together sounds fun. Let's make some plans after this."

And it seemed like they might they might get even more training time together after, with Kuree's declaration. 'Only one student huh? Then why sign up to teach a team? This lady doesn't make any sense...' But he wasn't disappointed. In fact, a small smile formed as he realized his opportunity here. He could avoid this team entirely! Although Burai seemed like a good teammate, getting rid of Shiori and the rockhead of a sensei was the best result possible. He continued to think for a few more seconds, and only became more and more sure of his decision. Smiling still, he pulled down his mask, reached into where he'd stored his robe, and took it right back out to put it on and look sharp and dressed once more. "Well that was fun guys. I'll see you two around. Burai-san we can still train later. I'm going to wait for an instructor that will teach me to be a shinobi instead of a bull that charges through walls. Jaa-ne." At that, he gave his teammates a casual but polite wave, and began to walk away towards home. He wondered if his mom had frozen any of those leftover gyoza, having another lunch of that sounded delightful.

Location: Training ground 31Naruko Uzumaki
_____________________________________________
Everything had been leading to this day. Years of training, of those recurring nightmares that drove her ever forward, of the harsh critiques of her instructors at the academy...Everything that stood in her way! She had finally achieved her goal: Becoming a Shinobi. Sure she was only a genin for now but eventually? She would become the Hokage and then they’ll see that hard work trumps talent, everyone would finally see things her way and she’d keep them all safe. But that was all for the future for now she actually had to get moving. Normally Naruko was one to sleep in and just let the morning pass her by but today she was FAR too excited to even consider doing that. The knuckleheaded ninja practically jumped out of bed and began to rummage through her house looking for something edible.

Eventually after coming upon some leftover ramen. Naruko had, had what she would argue was a proper “Breakfast” and stormed out of her house, still wiping off some of the broth as she went. If Gorudo wasn’t awake by now, she would have to wake him up herself! The blonde ninja sped down the road with reckless abandon and a grin that practically stretched the sides of her face. Today really was the day, she could hardly believe it, it still didn’t feel real.

After collecting (And subsequently dragging) her friend towards the training ground, they came face to face with not only their squadmate but their instructor as well. Naruko’s eyes went wide when the man emerged from the tree and stood before them. ‘Ah...Ah...He’s so...Hot…’ her thoughts were going a mile a minute while her cheeks blushed intensely. This was going to be challenging. Her perverted thoughts were practically destroyed however once the declaration had been made. Either prove themselves as ninja or go back to the academy in failure!? Could he even do that!? They had passed there was no way he’d be able to send them back!

Naruko’s former drooling visage had been replaced with one of furious determination. Her hands came up to her face and she clapped them against her cheeks to psyche herself up. She had been facing doubt ever since she had enrolled at the academy and proved them wrong time and time again, this would be NO different! “Bring it on, Sensei!” she shouted aloud living up to her title of: The noisy ninja. “I’ll take whatever you can throw at me. I’ll prove you wrong just like all the rest. We’re going to be the greatest team that you’ve ever seen!” She shouted while she practically glowed with pride. She didn’t know anything about this Nijira guy but he looked decently tough. She was sure they had this in the bag. “Give us your best, Sensei. You’re gonna need it!” she pointed directly at Koji. Challenging him instead of running scared from the threat.
