Ten years ago the world changed. People began to exhibit strange powers, using them for good and evil. Mutants became public knowledge, the Spider-Man was caught on film, and Captain America turned out to be just not a piece of propaganda. To deal with this influx of powered individuals, the UN made public knowledge the existence of SHIELD, a global peacekeeping organization. With the help of SHIELD, various heroes came together and formed teams, like the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Avengers.
For several years the battle between good and evil continued as usual, that was until a major revelation occurred. The Avengers discovered that SHIELD was secretly being controlled by HYDRA, a terrorist organization that dated back to World War Two. Now revealed, HYDRA decided to advance their plans, using the forces of SHIELD to attack most major government. With the combined power of several hero teams, HYDRA was defeated, with most of its leadership arrested. In the wake of this incident, the UN dissolved SHIELD, leaving the world without dedicated peace keepers.
With SHIELD gone, many criminal and terrorist groups began to expand. This would continue for several months until Nick Fury, the former head of SHIELD, contacted Captain America, the team leader of the Avengers. He suggested having the Avengers step up as the defender of the world, to which Cap eventually agreed. Thus they launched the NEO Initiative. All former and reserve members of the Avengers were called to rejoin the team, as were many former SHIELD technical staff and agents.
The main purpose of the NEO Initiative was to recruit new heroes, with the current members of the Avengers encouraged to sponsor a new hero. These new heroes would be based in Avengers Mansion New York on a probationary basis. They would be assigned missions to prove that they could be actual Avengers.
1943: Project Rebirth creates Captain America, who quickly becomes a piece of propaganda. 1945: Captain America is MIA after destroying a HYDRA base in the Arctic. 1948: SHIELD is formed to prevent another world war. 1963: Mutants first start to appear. 1992: Mutants Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr first meet. 1998: Young scientist Bruce Banner is exposed to Gamma energy, becoming the Hulk. 2000: Thor comes to Earth to celebrate the new millennium, only to get into a fight with the Hulk. 2005: Charles Xavier opens the Xavier Institute for the Gifted, a school to help mutants. 2006: The Richards space mission is bombard with cosmic energy, transforming them into the Fantastic Four. 2009: Dr. Hank Pym discovers the Pym Particle. 2010: Several graduates of the Xavier Institute form the X-Men, a hero team that helps mutants. 2011: Spider-Man first appears in New York, becoming the first public superhero. Magneto forms the Brotherhood of Mutants. 2012: The Fantastic Four make their first public appearance, defeating a Skrull raiding party. The existence of SHIELD is admitted to by the UN Security Council. 2013: After a mass breakout of super-villains, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant-Man, and the Wasp team up as the Avengers to recapture them. The X-Men also become public after a heavily videoed fight with the Brotherhood of Mutants hits the internet. 2014: Captain America is found frozen in ice. He then joins the Avengers alongside many other new members as the team grows rapidly. The Avengers are put to the test when an AI named Ultron tries to end the world. 2015: The world discovers the existence of Atillan, an Inhuman city on the Moon. Mutant hunting robots called Sentinels are first created. 2016: The Avengers and X-Men fight over what to do with the Phoenix Force when it manifests itself on Earth. In the end the Phoenix host Jean Grey is seemingly killed and the Phoenix sealed away. 2018: The Fantastic Four create the Future Foundation, a think tank of the world’s smartest people with the goal of improving the world. 2020: It is discovered that SHIELD was secretly controlled by HYDRA. The Avengers defeat HYDRA, and SHIELD is disbanded. 2021: The Avengers start the NEO Initiative.

Full name: Autonomous Superhuman Termination and Regulation Automaton Alias/Codename: ASTRA, Alexandra Blair Stark Age: N/A, appears to be 18 Country of origin: USA, pretends it to be Scotland Avenger sponsor: Warmachine
Basic appearance:
Alex doesn’t appear to be anything out of the ordinary, in fact her build is rather lanky and ‘underwhelming’ as far as the average on the academy goes. For her whooping 185 centimeters of height she claims to only weigh 70 kilograms when asked. She seems fit within her options and has great stamina. Her skin is as white as it gets.
Her face seems as ordinary as the rest of her - not too angular, not too rounded, the medium cheekbones, exactly right chin. She has dark green eyes and a short mane of blond hair that she keeps cut short and flowing over one side of her face.
Despite her best attempts, more observant people can still tell there is something inhuman about her - the way her skin is just a bit too cold to touch, that she seems heavier than she should be or the precise and controlled way she carries herself, but her body language is slowly improving to blend in better.
Costume:
She sticks to her uniform most of the time as she hardly ever goes outside. Alex doesn’t use clothing, instead morphing her skin to look like it, most often going with a jumpsuit and a crop jacket. Instead of a flag insignia on her shoulder, she has the logo of Stark Industries. She doesn’t really ‘change’ for combat other than donning her armor if the situation calls for it. For her work as receptionist, she wears a suit.
Construction and powers:
ASTRA’s body is shaped around a strong endoskeleton fashioned out of secondary adamantium. Mobility is achieved through series of electric servos for precise motorics and hydraulics for heavy duty. Most of its core hardware is stored in the chest and abdomen, with only its sensor suite located in the head. The skin is made out of nanites.
Despite being a walking supercomputer and thus having a shorter learning curve, it still takes time for ASTRA to master certain things that require doing before understanding, such as martial arts. Furthermore Alex didn’t bother learning much of what she doesn’t need, as her drive space may be impressive but it is far from encompassing all of knowledge.
Minor shapeshifting - ASTRA’s nanoskin can change its shape, color and to some degree mechanical properties. The shape is limited by the endoskeleton, always restricting it to humanoid shape although in special cases not all of it needs to be covered by the skin.
Energy absorption - ASTRA is powered through its skin which can transfer various energy sources into its powerplant - the unit is mostly powered by solar energy. The capability is limited though - for example it can still be damaged by fire given enough exposure or high enough temperature.
Superhuman physique - Unarmored, ASTRA can lift up to 10 tons with each arm or 20 tons with both providing it can distribute the weight properly. It can also move about 3 times faster than a human and it has wider range on its joints, capable of for instance reverse bending elbows.
Superhuman mind - The robot has large memory and the computational power of the best technology. It also possesses significantly shortened reaction time, limited telepathy (requires physical contact, prefferably with the target's head) and is capable of technopathy through physical contact or untold hacking ability.
Sensors and transmitters - The robot is aware of more than a human, capable of seeing and hearing a wider spectrum, and can also transmit such signals.
Equipment:
As the base robot is made to be able to mimic a human, something more is needed for those tough fights when the nanoskin just wouldn’t last long enough. As such, in a typical Stark fashion, a suit of powered armor was developed along with it. It is somewhat modular in a way that additional equipment can be mounted on the outside, but unlike the Ironman suit, it is not capable of functioning without being fully assembled or to be controlled remotely.
Composite armor - With bulkiness not being the issue, the armor was made out of a composite improving upon the nickel-gold alloy. It is worth noting that it was designed to take the brunt of damage from the front and there the armor is heaviest. With the need to accept a pilot, the armor also has weak spots. As the pilot wasn’t meant to be human, the suit is easily spaceworthy.
Forcefield emitters - ASTRA armor is equipped with the next step from Ironman’s repulsors - the multi-field generators. It can create electromagnetic and repulsor-gravitational fields around itself. The more complex the field the more it subtracts from its processing power - for example, a tractor beam is pretty easy, but creating a gravity field to safely deflect a hail of bullets over large area might take enough processing power that ASTRA can not move itself.
Increased strength - Once the armor is on, ASTRA can lift up to 60 tons. However, the armor’s mobility suite is far clankier, and limits ASTRA to human speed and reaction time.
Brief bio:
Created by Tony Stark, ASTRA is meant to be the deterrent to all future threats to Earth. Combining the thoughts behind Ultron and the Sentinels, this unit is the first prototype of intended many. Designed to be able to counteract most known and possible future threats, ASTRA units are capable of emulating many powers present in other superhumans, aliens and technological contraptions, and while it matches none in its specific field, an ASTRA is capable of keeping up and adapting, with the whole system intended to counteract a threat by employing larger number of units, rather than one superpowered robot, and overwhelming the threat with multiple or rapidly changing powers.
To prevent the disasters that were the Sentinels and Ultron, ASTRA code is based heavily on that of Ultron-15, capable of feeling emotions. Furthermore, Alex did not achieve consciousness by accident and was brought online and educated by Mr. Stark to create a desirable personality.
A cover story was needed for her, and thus ASTRA assumed the identity of Alexandra Blair Stark, a misbegotten daughter of her creator, one he only recently become aware of with the disappearance of her mother who kept her existence hidden from him. Id asked about the origin of her powers, Tony and Alex will claim not to be sure and that perhaps her mother may have been Mystique.
When Fury decided to create Shield's successor organization, Tony wasn't too happy with Alex' eagerness to join, preferring her to stay on her own for now, however Alex managed to get uncle Rhodes to be her sponsor instead.
Alex is on the border between an extrovert and introvert. She doesn’t actively search for company, although if one finds her she doesn’t shy away. Being relatively ‘young’ with her activation date no further than 5 years ago, she can sometimes be a bit naive and gullible.
She seems a little cold and doesn’t like to talk about herself. Alex constantly seems zoned out due to being able to multitask and pick up what humans can’t like radio waves or wi-fi internet, although she is always paying attention to what she should.
Her only fear is that of going offline for whatever the reason, as even though her memories would remain intact, her personality would reset and she might never be the same person.
Presently, she also works part-time as the receptionist at the Avengers Mansion.
- Nano armor: An armor created form nanites. Retains current capabilities, functions as the endosym Ironman armor, can increase mass to hulkbuster levels with additional nanites
- Asgardian armor: Magical armor that replaces the nanoskin. Retains current capabilities with the ability to modify it's mass and giving access to magical abilities. Like Mjolnir, it acts as a failsafe - the armor will lock around anyone not worthy of wearing it
@Forsythe Very interesting character. ASTRA is approved.
@mattmanganon Sorry I should have claified this in the opening post, this roleplay is OCs only. As for titles I would prefer you either use a new one, or if you must reuse one, please make it an obscure character.
@LostButterfly92 Thanks for the interest! So all the players will already be together as a sort of Avengers trainee team, doing missions to prove that they can become full fledged. So yes everyone will be together, that is besides in between missions, where you'll be able to go off on your own and do your own side plots.
@Forsythe For the first mission at least the focus will be on the team as a whole, letting everyone get a feel for each other. For subsequent missions, I've thinking of trying in tie in one or two characters' subplots into it, as I want everyone playing to get a chance to shine. And yes I totally agree that we should just focus on what feels fun.
Real Name: Osvald Samson Codename: Viking Age: 20 Gender: Male Appearance: The most standout feature of Osvald is his green hair. A trait he inherited from his biological father, Leonard Samson. From a glance, this seems to be the only trait he inherited from Leonard, as he lacks the height and muscular frame of his father. Having a much leaner build. With emerald green eyes, Osvald’s angular features tend to give him a rather piercing glare. When not fighting crime, Osvald tends to wear casual clothes with a more formal bend. Like a T-shirt and blazer. However, when fighting crime, he wears a pair of black tactical pants and an Asgardian armoured vest. Personality: Osvald tries to be a laid back individual, though often struggles with keeping his temper in check. Often looking for an outlet, whether that training or whatever sport he is allowed to play considering his abilities. He is rather confident in his powers, sometimes to the point of being cocky. Especially considering his relatively young age and thus his powers are rather under developed. Powers/Abilities: Osvald Samson is half Asgardian, half Human (Gamma Mutate). Given his young (in comparison to other Asgardians) age, most if not all his Asgardian powers are yet to manifest. Though it could be theorised that it bolsters his strength, but most of his superhuman strength comes from being empowered by Gamma Radiation.
Superhuman Strength: While not exposed to a dosage of gamma radiation as great as the Hulk, the Abomination, or even the She-Hulk, Samson was granted great superhuman strength. As a result of his gamma ray exposure, he possessed sufficient superhuman strength to lift about 70 tons. His great strength also extends into the powerful muscles of his legs, allowing him to leap great heights and distances, though far less than the Hulk or Abomination. Samson has been known to leap approximately 580 feet straight up into the air, and to a maximum reported distance of 910 feet.
Superhuman Stamina: As in the case of the Hulk, She-Hulk and Abomination, the gamma ray exposure has dramatically increased the efficiency of Samson's musculature, though not as greatly. As a result, his musculature produces considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of a normal human. Samson can physically exert himself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him.
Superhuman Durability: Samson's gamma ray enhanced physique is much harder and more resistant to physical injury than a normal human. Samson's skin is able to resist penetration wounds from high caliber bullets or blades composed of most conventional materials. Samson is also physically durable enough to withstand multiple blows from the Hulk, while in an enraged emotional state, and sustain little to no injury. His bones and muscles are strong and resilient enough to be able to survive a fall at terminal velocity reached after free-falling 4,000 feet in a feet-first attitude at 145 miles per hour against sidewalk concrete, provided he lands upright. Even if he doesn't land upright, Samson wouldn't sustain serious physical injury.
Though he may unlock more powers later, or become even stronger should he be exposed to Gamma Radiation or Asgardian Magic. Avengers Sponsor: Bruce Banner/The Hulk History: Osvald Samson never really knew his real parents. Leonard Samson had a short relationship with an Asgardian woman, which resulted in the pregnancy. The pregnancy was kept hidden from Leonard when she returned to Asgard. When he was born, his green hair made him an outcast. As an infant, he was sent to Midgard as they thought it was bad omen. He was left at an orphanage with a note with his name on it. Osvald never really fit in, given his green hair, and predisposition to throwing tantrums. It quickly became apparent he was no ordinary kid, as he started to exhibit his superhuman powers. So, was sent to a SHIELD sponsored orphanage for super powered individuals. After various tests, training and experiments, his file was buried in the SHIELD database as HYDRA sought him as a potential asset. He was taken to a Siberian research facility under the guise of extra training to work alongside the Avengers. The whole time, they kept convincing him he would be fighting for good, while actually training him to fight for Evil. When he was sixteen, he started to get an inclination that something wasn’t quite right. So he broke out to live on his own. Thinking he was old enough to survive on his own. He spent the next years of his life in relative peace. Living alone in a log cabin in Siberia. His enhanced physiology made it a lot easier to survive. It wasn’t until Bruce found him while investigating an unusually high concentration of Gamma Radiation near an old HYDRA base that he considered joining the NEO initiative. Convinced by Bruce in that it would be a could opportunity to understand more about his condition. So, at 20 years old, Osvald made his way to New York to join the world’s mightiest heros.
Well, I was going to use her for White Wood Academy, but that got indefinitely cancelled... so here goes.
Audrey Underwood II
Codename: none Age: Appears 16 (really only 3) Gender: Female (she/her) Race/Species: Plant/Human Hybrid Inspiration: Poison Ivy, Swamp Thing, Man-Thing, and mythical creatures such as dryads and huldra. Appearance: Normally Audrey appears to have green plant-like skin with matching eyes and foliage for hair, and has woody, horn-like growths on her head. While in her human form, Audrey appears as a caucasian girl with a bald head (or brown hair if given time to grow out), and small breasts. It is rare to see her human form, because she only reveals it to those she trusts. Audrey has limited control of her appearance. If she becomes frightened or anxious, she will become more plant-like. She may become brown or reddish in color if she doesn't get enough light. Personality: Audrey generally feels apathy toward humans and does not highly value human life, even her own. She is very serious, humorless, and has trouble understanding body language and jokes. She rarely displays emotion, and when she does it is usually sadness or anger. She has difficulty remembering names and faces. She tends to be distrustful of others, yet is gullible. While she is a capable speaker, she often chooses to stay quiet or say little. Audrey feels happiest and most at ease when she is close to nature or animals. She enjoys eating meat and honey. She dislikes technology, clothing, violence, and weapons of any kind. Powers/Abilities: Chlorokinesis and Chlorogenesis: can manipulate living plant material with her mind after establishing a connection with it. Can also create plant matter from her own body. Can absorb plant matter and/or energy into her body. If just the life energy is drained, the plant victim will wither. Plant Armor and Camoflage: May bulk up her body with bark, thorns, and foliage to create armor or to hide herself in her natural environment. Movement may become limited the bulkier she becomes. Toxigenisis: can secrete natural plant poisons (such as those in nightshade and poison ivy) through her skin. Antitoxin is produced in her saliva. Regeneration and Toxin Resistance: Can quickly regenerate plant matter. Human flesh wounds may be patched with plant matter and heal about twice as fast as regular humans. Additionally, she is immune to naturally occurring toxins and venoms. (She is highly vulnerable to herbicides.) Unusual Biology: Mind, hormone, pheromone, and emotion affecting powers usually have little to no effect on Audrey. She is immune or resistant to most plant and animal illnesses and diseases. She survives on much less food than normal people and can go for days without sleep. However, she gets tired and sluggish at night and when exposed to the cold. She is more vulnerable to heat and cold damage than humans, but more resistant to electricity. Nature Empathy: Can understand and communicate with plants and animals. (Does not control animals.) Gut feelings alert her when something is distressing nearby plants or animals. Both wild and domesticated animals are calmed and soothed by her scent and presence. Basic survival, Hunting, Foraging, and Tracking Skills Avengers Sponsor: Man-Thing History: Audrey was created during an experiment by the mad scientist Doctor Herbert Underwood. The doctor specialized in botanicals and was known for his research into herbal medicine in search of a cure for his wife, who had a very rare blood disease. As his wife's disease progressed, the doctor became more and more unstable, working endlessly to the point of neglecting himself. Tragically, his wife passed away before he could cure her. This perpetuated his madness, causing him to search for ways to bring back his dearly departed. This lead him to the hybridization of plants and animals. After acquiring alien technology, he found success. It was not long before he created a hybridized clone of his wife, Audrey. The infant clone appeared normal but matured quickly. As she matured, she developed increasingly apparent plant biology, such as green skin and foliage growing on her body instead of hair. When injured, bark-like scabs formed. As she grew older, the scientist taught her to read, write, and then taught her math, science, and history. Every night he would read her pages of the original Audrey's diary and would share photos of them together, but the new Audrey did not remember or feel any love for her father. One day her father went too far, causing the girl to lash out with newfound powers. She escaped her prison and was soon found wondering in the forest by Man-Thing, who cared her for some time before bringing her to the Avengers to be raised among humans.
@Sanity43217@LostButterfly92 Both Viking and Audrey are accepted. You may now move their sheets to the character tab.
Also, as a note to everyone, I've added a small timeline section to the first post. It was just some ideas I had to give a better framework for character backstories. If anyone has ideas or if this doesn't work with your character history, just let me know and we can work something out.
@Martian It mostly works for me on the assumption that there are the next versions of ultron that just are not mentioned. Astra sort of needs ultron 15 to exist.
Real Name: Gustav Mahler, (former) Agent of SHIELD Codename: Geomancer/Agent Mahler Age: 29 Gender: A Man Appearance: Gustav is 5'8", with a mundane body and rather fair skin. A beard covers his chin, and his chestnut colored is usually well groomed, though his occasional forays underground tends to mess it up. Personality: He is a patient (when it comes to waiting) man with a low tongue and a great ear; Gustav doesn't seem to be extremely talkative. He is quite protective and a little too much so; he tends to scold teammates or friends that he sees to be reckless. Gustav is somewhat cynical, and has a pessimistic side. He seems to be crazy for cats and ferrets. Powers/Abilities: Gustav Mahler is a mutant with geokinetic powers, along with a sprinkling of a seismic sense.
Terrakinetic Manipulation: Gustav possesses the ability to detect and manipulate earth based materials within ten meters; as such, he is able to use rock, sand, poorly refined metal, and stone. He is able to slide along the ground akin to a surfer by turning the ground below him into a small wave, and Gustav is also capable of breaking down rocks smaller than 10 inches wide into grains of sand, and vice versa. It seems that his geokinetic ability is reliant on hand and lower body movements.
Lavabending: Gustav is able to excite the molecules of rock to their melting point, turning up to 5 feet of ground into lava, which he is able to manipulate. However, this particular technique requires an absolute peace of mind and concentration; it could take a few seconds or more, at which point of time he is highly vulnerable.
Seismic Sense: Gustav senses vibrations on the ground that his feet are currently planted upon, allowing him to 'see' in a way similar to echolocation. This allows him to find his way underground or to detect incoming adversaries from at least a hundred feet away.
Avengers Sponsor: Black Widow History: As official records state, Gustav Mahler is from Belfast, Maine. He was the second son of Mariah Mahler and Trajan Mahler, the latter of which was an physicist. Mariah, in the other hand, was a doctor and biochemist.
With his father being an esteemed physicist, and his mother being a bright medical mind, one could imagine that Gustav was brought up in a house of science and intelligence. In his childhood and teen years, Gustav would consistently get high scores in his schooling, though he seemed to dislike calculus. Nevertheless, the combined pressures and expectations of living up to the example set by his big brain parents had made him exceedingly competitive, and thus, maybe a little abrasive. In his younger years as a high schooler, he'd be mark with a massive intellect, and also an insufferable ego.
That was, until he manifested his mutant abilities.
It was just a normal day, indeed, when a group of three boys, who were rendered insecure by his massively insulting intelligence and damnable attitude to anyone who didn't get quite near to his own level, cornered him in the locker room. They started pushing Gustav around, making fun of his rounded glasses and weight until the ground shook, and the tiles split asunder. Stones fell upon their heads as Gustav's geokinetic powers manifested. Fortunately, his older brother Matthias, who was also a mutant (in secret), came in and teleported him out of the place.
Matthias had been studying in Xavier's Institute for two years now, and he brought Gustav into the school. All of this was a harrowing and humbling experience for Gustav, as the manifestation of his powers had rendered him blind (at least until a mutant with healing powers brought back his eyesight, but that was a year later; this blindness was also why their parents agreed to send him to a school of gifted people). Being forced to rely on others, and then on his seismic sense, to get around, the manifestation of his powers brought the arrogant Gustav low, and one could say it changed him for the better. Gone was the insufferable prick that looked down on others.
After graduation in Xavier's Institute, he'd be invited by SHIELD as an asset and agent; apparently, his father was actually part of its SciTech division, and already knew what he was, and his mother was the one from whom he got his mutant genes. However, at the nick of time, HYDRA reared its ugly head, and SHIELD smoldered into oblivion right at his first day at work.
With nothing left to do, Gustav settled to a more or less normal life... until he was approached by the Black Widow, who told him a man of his talents and abilities would be good for the NEO initiative...
@Forsythe I'm only really listing the first appearances of characters, so it can be assumed that more Ultrons have shown, getting at least to Ultron 15.
@The Man Emperor Yay, more mutants. Geomancer is accepted and can be moved to the character tab.
@Clever Hans Cool. Though if you post it today I might not get a chance to look at it till tomorrow.
@DClassified Hey, are you still interested in participating? Just curious.
Appearance: Hyper is a tall, lanky man with shortish, messy, dishwater blond hair. He has a long nose, a strong, clean-shaven jaw, and sleepy-looking blue eyes. His costume is an olive green jumpsuit with yellow trim and lots of pockets. He wears a reinforced bomber jacket over the suit, and a vintage-looking aviator's helmet and goggles.
Personality: Hank is a the epitome of the friendly, laconic Midwestern boy, polite and unassuming. He believes that people are, by and large, good inside, and treats them that way. Cynics might accuse him of being Pollyanna-ish, but he's not as naive as some would think.
Powers/Abilities:
Super-speed flight: Hyper can fly at supersonic speeds, easily faster than any aircraft or missile on Earth.
Inertia shunting: While in flight, Hyper shunts his inertia, giving him turn-on-a-dime maneuverability. He can also use this shunted inertial force as a powerful force field, and project it as a concussive force blast.
Super-reflexes: Hyper's brain can process sensory stimuli fast enough to keep up with his speed in flight, giving him lightning-quick reflexes.
Physical abilities: Hyper has the typical physical abilities of a young male in good physical condition, with the following exceptions: his reflexes (as above), and his soft tissue/joint flexibility, which is on a par with a professional contortionist. This allows him to more easily slip into/through small spaces, escape restraints, etc.
Judo: Hyper holds a black belt in judo, and has taken some training from Captain Marvel in using judo throws in flight.
Mechanical skills: Hyper is a whiz with mechanical contraptions of all sorts, from simple machines to combustion engines.
Pilot: Hyper is a licensed pilot (small planes only).
Equipment: Hyper wears a bomber jacket and old-fashioned aviator's leather helmet and goggles. The jacket has military-grade armor to provide some protection when he's not flying, and the goggles contain telescopic vision and night vision enhancements.
Avengers Sponsor: Captain Marvel
History: Hank grew up in a small Illinois college town. His long and lean build earned him the nickname “Stringbean.” He learned many of his skills from his father, who was a crop-duster, mechanic, and also helped manage the local airfield. His mutant power manifested itself at age 14 when a hotshot crop-duster, intent on buzzing Hank, got a bit too low, and when Hank leaped desperately out of the way, he found himself soaring through the air instead of rolling on the ground. He was quick to experiment with his new powers, particularly in executing aerial maneuvers that no airplane could possibly perform.
It was during one of his flying session that he nearly collided with Captain Marvel, who was in hot pursuit of a villain. Captain Marvel, thinking Hank was an attacker, engaged him and defeated him, but soon discovered her mistake and rushed him to Avengers' Mansion for treatment. Feeling responsible for the young man, she guided his training and became his sponsor for the NEO program. With his incredible speed, Hank splits his time between the coast and his hometown.
@Clever Hans If civil war 2 was a thing here, it would be very vomplicated between Hyper and Astra :'D "Your sponsor got mine killed and my father in a coma!"
