"My family's been runnin' the Innkeep Inn since my pappy's pappy's pappy was'un diapers! Business is slow, but you meet all sorts o' folk comin' through Gravity Falls. A lot of 'em curious about the 'mysteries' and 'strange happ'nins' that apparently go on here. I tell 'em it's a buncha hog spit; But that don't stop 'em none. Yung or olde, people stay in my inn if they got's the cash. I could care less; as long as they pay me."

Innkeep is the ideal place for outsiders to stay while in Gravity Falls. You have to pay, but Ein doesn't care who you are or what you're really doing.
Ein collects money weekly. His rates differ based on the type of room you desire.
The Innkeep Inn is sort of odd. It looks rundown, and for the most part, it is: But it always seems to have room for guests. Even if it looks like they might be full, there's always another door...

Why don’t you lay your past on me? What are you even doing here?

I have lived in Gravity Falls as long as I can remember. We moved from California when I was around three years old to take over the Mystery Shack when the last generation was ready to retire and we have been here ever since. My dad took over as the new Man of Mystery, my mom got a job at Greasy's Diner and for a while life was fairly simple. Just normal life in a small town, being homeschooled, hanging with family or friends and helping out where I could at the Shack, which by helping...I mean, using what my dad called 'the cuteness factor'. That all changed when I was about twelve years old though, my mom suddenly got sick and eventually passed away. My dad was devastated and the loss changed him in many ways. He lost his charm and pizazz, wallowing in himself and just in a slump as depression set in. It seemed that my brother and I were the only joy left in his life so I tried to stay cheerful and be there for him as much as I could. I took over more responsibilities at home so he could worry less and stay healthy. He ended up finding someone to take up the Man of Mystery mantle but still owning the place so we could live there and make a profit off the shop. He ended up getting a job a few months later working odd hours as a security officer which means our time together became limited. I found myself as the cashier in the shop more often than not just to keep myself busy. If I wasn't in the shop then I was making my way through the woods, taking in the peaceful atmosphere or exploring the strangeness of the town with Jack. Sure, I swear I have seen some weird things in there but it wasn't like anyone would believe me and who could I really tell? I barely know most of the people in town even though it is a low population and being mute kind of limits who will listen to you. Sure, some try to understand but most do that polite smile and just try to get away as soon as possible. At least that is how it feels most days.

People around here are a bit strange though so maybe I read into it too much. No one seems to see what I do or care. It is like they live in a bubble, not willing to accept or talk about the weirdness that goes on. More often then not, weird glitches will pop onto my phone or laptop screens and while you could blame the signal....it just doesn't seem that way. Sometimes I swear there is an image in the static. There are a lot of myths and legends about Gravity Falls though which is exactly why even without a spot on the map, people flock to it. It could just be something along those lines that are subconsciously giving me those thoughts when it happens but Jack seems to think we are right that there is more. I have to hear a ton of stories at the Mystery Shack after all and some of them are just made up on the fly or altered to give a 'wow' factor. I might just start writing a few down, checking them out to see if they are real. If there is magic in this town, then I want to be able to learn more. All knowledge is good knowledge after all.

I have an older brother, Jack Price.
I communicate with my family via sign language
I tend to carry around music so I can play things to match my mood
I can play the piano but it makes me nervous to play in front of other people
I will always have something to write with...now paper...that is a different matter
I enjoy spending time in the woods. It is peaceful and I don't have to deal with how to communicate
I love to go exploring with Jack when we both have the time.

"I'm just an average kid from Portland, Oregon. I ate breakfast, I went to school, I spent the rest of my day pursuing the supernatural. You know, normal stuff. Now you might be thinking: "Supernatural? That's not normal at all!" But yes, it is! At least I've believed so since I was nine; That was my first experience with something I couldn't explain! I was taking a shortcut through an alleyway to get home, when I head some rummaging in a garbage can. Upon observing closer, I found something that at first really freaked me out: A green squirrel!

But this squirrel was really friendly! When I decided to leave after being scared half to death, it followed: Eventually crawling up into my coat pocket and refusing to leave. Annoying, but for awhile, I kept it as a hidden pet from my family. I thought my mom would freak out at a green squirrel, so I kept it with me at all times, either in my room or tucked away in my coat. The squirrel was exceptionally smart. It communicated with me, in it's own indirect fashion. I eventually established it was female; Through a mixture of being scratched, knawed, and pestered. She had a preference for meat over anything else when it came to food, but I managed to keep her fed. Sometimes she'd creep out my window though, and I swear she seemed chubbier when she came back.

Despite trying to research on green squirrels, all I could find was information about green bush squirrels, which were entirely not what I was looking for. As far as I knew, she was unique: I couldn't bring myself to reveal her to anyone, so the mystery continued to build while I continued to have no answers. Such oddities began to catch my eye throughout the years. Strange creature sightings, weird happenings: I took note of them much more than before I met the squirrel. Most people brushed these things off, but I knew there had to be truth behind them somewhere: It was an itch in my brain now, something in me demanded explanations be found. 

My family began to think I was crazy; My neighbors, even more so. Even now, they act like I'm crazy for wanting to visit Gravity Falls! But that's a part of why I decided to visit: There's no definitive proof of something being there, but there's been rumors. Suspicions. More than anywhere else in the entirety of Oregon, for sure! I knew it was a good idea, because even Moe (I had decided to name the squirrel Moe) was excited with the idea of going there. 

My family is pretty well off. While I wouldn't call them neglectful, they sure didn't mind the idea of getting me a ride to drop me off there. If I ever needed to leave, I could just contact them. But I had enough money to live for awhile, and I wasn't planning on going anywhere without proof of the supernatural. Perhaps I'd even come to learn more about Moe and her origins. She's been excited since we began our trip; There must be some sort of connection there that makes her feel that way. It's apparently a quiet place, so I can probably be more lenient with having Moe out and about, too. 

Even if I don't find answers right away, there's nothing stopping me from having fun while I'm there! A vacation from home just might be what Moe and I need, anyways."

"I was born and raised here in Gravity Falls! When I was born, I came out different from other kids; My skin took on a grayish tone, with weird but adorable black eyes, and only four fingers on each hand! The doctors were confused, but my mom and dad accepted me anyways despite being nervous: I was a healthy baby all things considered, though it was quickly discovered that I couldn't identify colors, either. Everything's black and white for me, but that just makes everything more plain and easy to understand if you want my opinion!

My parents love me, they really do. But they've always been overprotective of me! They didn't like the looks I got sometimes because of my appearance, and thought I'd be safer at home. They tutored me at home and bought me things to keep me happy, but it just didn't sit well with me. I saw other kids out playing, and I wanted to do that, too! So I'd sneak away, and go hang out with the other kids. Sometimes I'd bring my own things as presents to try and get them to like me, though a few of the kids I met were kind enough to let me keep most of them. Sometimes I'd swipe money, too. To afford some time at the arcade; Which had a much higher thrill than games at home. I end up caught and lectured occasionally, though. At this point I think they understand I'm going to do it no matter what, but they want me to just be careful for my own sake. 

I've always been curious about why I'm the way I am. It's obviously not natural, but my parents play it off as something simple; But I've never heard about anyone else like me. Feels like nobody has answers for who or even what I am, but I won't let it get me down! Surely there's answers out there somewhere, right? And even if I can't find any, I'll still enjoy the life I was given! It's mine to live, after all!"

"Actually, I've lived here for most of my life. You already met my sister, Amelia, right? Then you probably know the gist of our past now. Our family moved here when I was four to take over the local tourist trap, the Mystery Shack. Despite the rumors of abnormalities being drawn to this town, life has been pretty normal overall. Atleast, until mom died. 

You don't have to apologize for not knowing or anything, but yeah. Losing mom affected dad the most, to where he ended up in a downward spiral of depression. For a few months, Ami and I did our best to support him and help out, I myself focusing mostly on managing the Shack when I can. Luckly, he managed to get a job as a security officer, but that meant our time together would become limited.

If I wasnt busy, I'd join Ami in wandering around the woods  nearby, mostly for field research. But then I'd focus more on trying to take notes of more...interesting happenings...yeah no, i'm talking about the abnormalities I mentioned before. ...Aw, come on, don't look at me like that! Go ahead and call me a skeptic, but ive been trying to document what I see for a reason, Even if I get hurt or lost. Well, mostly lost. But still, no one else seems to believe me if I try to tell them, except Ami. She seems to see these things as well, including some weird glitches on her phone or the laptop. I sometimes get them too, now that I think about it! Just...what is this town hiding...? That's what I want to find out. Even if it'll be the end of me."

Yeah, so people say I'm pretty freakishly tall for my age at 6'5". It's a nice change from the scrawny little kid I used to be though, so I'm fine with it! I guess I'm also a little hefty around the gut, but hey, didn't stop me from being the best damn climber on the island, so again, I don't really see any problem!

How old are you anyway?
Sixteen, but I get why you'd be confused. I do look pretty mature and manly for my age, after all!

Well, this may surprise you considering how I look, but I'm actually a Gravity Falls native! Born and raised here all the way up until I was eight. And man, I was a pretty scrawny kid back then. Short too! In fact, it probably wouldn't be wrong to say I was the shortest, skinniest kid out of me and my friends. Of course, I was still the same guy I am today deep down, laughing and enjoying myself to the fullest! Not much that could get me down, and I did my best to keep the others' moods up too!

But then, when I was eight, we had to leave. I can't really remember the reason why, and I don't think it was anything especially big or bad, but we ended up leaving town and moving all the way to Hawaii. My mom came from there, so we lived with their family, which was enormous. It didn't take too long for me to get used to the island, and I quickly managed to make friends with the horde of cousins, even though they did still tease me about how short I was.

Then I turned twelve, puberty hit me like a goddamn truck, and I became a world-class example of just what the words 'growth spurt' really mean.

By the time I was fifteen, I was pretty much a goliath. I'd become the guy my younger cousins would ask to chuck them around in the water, I could beat my uncles and older cousins in arm wrestling competitions, it was great! That being said, while I still got plenty of exercise thanks to constantly running around the island, swimming and climbing coconut trees and stuff like that, the sudden growth spurt also made me feel way hungrier way more often, so all my rugged, manly muscles ended up hidden by fat. They're still there, so I'm still super strong and awesome, they're just hard to see unless I really push myself. But I'm getting off topic, that happens sometimes. Getting back to the main story, my parents finally let me come back to Gravity Falls again, which you know, you've probably figured out by the fact that I'm here talking to you right now. You see, even though I loved living with everyone in Hawaii, I'd been getting kinda homesick for here over the last year or so. Mom and Dad couldn't really leave because of their jobs, but when Summer break came around, they decided to let me come back and stay here for a while! My uncle Greg still lives here, so I'm staying with him. I haven't gotten the chance to actually go out and explore the town yet, but man, I'm excited for when I do! I wonder if the others will recognize me?

While in Hawaii, I actually grew to love ukulele music, so now I can play that like a goddamn champ!
Most of my family say my heart's as big as my gut. I know how that might sound, but it's definitely a complement.

"Oh wow, I take it you haven’t been to Lake Gravity Falls then? It’s a pretty popular fishing area… if only because it’s probably the only one around. But yeah, if you’ve gone you’ve definitely met my parents; they’re the lake rangers stationed there. One takes care of the bait and repair shop, you know, helping the residents with fishing licenses and all that, while the other tends to be on the water patrolling... And by patrolling, I mean talking with the locals and fishing alongside them. It’s pretty cozy, you know? Or at least, I’d like to think it is.

Funny enough, I’m actually the youngest of the Alwood’s! But, you probably won’t see my brother or sister, they’ve both moved now that they’re older. Mom and dad hoped they would stay and help with the lake, but they weren’t as interested in the water as I was. Sure, they’d still explore and fish with me from time to time, but they didn’t like going too far into the woods, and they never took me to Scuttlebutt island in the middle of the lake. I always assumed it was because of the rumors about the lake, which is fair I guess. One time, I tried to sneak off at night to Scuttlebutt on a small rowboat, but a big wave pushed me away from the island when I reached a layer of fog! 

You know, if anything that didn’t discourage me from exploring, it sort of fueled that desire. What made that big wave near Scuttlebutt? I’ve never seen a fish big enough that could do that in the lake, and while the rumors of the Gobblewonker seem to fit the scale, I’m not exactly convinced. I feel like I would have seen it with how we live next to the lake and all. But I could be wrong, you know? I mean, the Mystery Shack does exist for a reason, right?

Sure it’s a tourist trap, but I feel every town in Oregon has one, and at least the Mystery Shack isn’t just a corn maze. And since it had oddities on display, I figured it would be a good place to sort of do my own investigating. And well, while it was a total wash for giant fish, I managed to get a part-time job there a year ago. Who knows, maybe I’ll see something weird now that I’m surrounded by it?"

"In Gravity Falls? I'm here to study. Well, not study as in traditional school. I'm working on my Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Michigan and Gravity Falls is an area I'm researching. The particulars of my thesis would probably bore you, but I'm studying urban legends in the American Pacific Northwest. Their formation and perpetuation, specifically. Of course, I don't actually think monsters and paranormal forces are real. People just love to tell stories about them, and those stories eventually turn into things that people believe to be true. That's the short version of where urban legends come from. And Gravity Falls has a lot of them. Like, seriously. The amount of urban legends emerging from Gravity Falls is staggering. It's more than quadruple the amount emerging from any other area in its region, let alone in the United States. I'm hoping to figure out why. What makes Gravity Falls such a hotspot for American mythos, how did these myths emerge, and why have they perpetuated for so long? Because of the scope of my research, I'll be staying in Gravity Falls for quite a long time to get to know and earn the trust of the locals and the surrounding area. Maybe a year or longer? Luckily, I have awesome funding and an awesome advisor who is going to let me study here for as long as I need. As long as I come up with any substantial findings, though. Or else it's back to Michigan with me.

The rest of my past? It's not really important to my studies, but I'll indulge. I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for college, blah blah... my childhood's not important and I don't want to talk about it. I majored in sociology at UMichigan, got my B.A, decided to go to California for grad school for some reason, moved back to Michigan for my doctorate, and now I'm working towards that. What do you mean besides school? The rest's not important. 

Well. I have two siblings, one older and one younger. I only really talk to my younger sister nowadays. I... didn't have a lot of friends growing up. As a teen or a child. I was too nerdy, too smart. Coming out was... tough, but it worked out for the better.  Nothing that significant happened in my childhood. No supernatural experiences, no traumatic experiences, no nada. Not that exciting. “...I’m the second youngest of ten...My parents took a lot of trips to Gravity Falls and always came back with another sibling...apparently. 

They liked me at first. Mom taught me how to play music, and apparently was a guitar prodigy. Dad taught me about the great outdoors. Not sure what’s great about the outside of a door, but trees and animals are nice too. 

My brothers didn’t like me at first. Well, except Terry, my oldest bro. Apparently mom and dad said that I was gonna be the cash cow in a family of screw ups. They said they’d show our parents who the screw up really was. One year we came up here when I was little and my brothers left me in the woods on my own…”

"A life story? Seriously? I'm not even that old.

Well, it isn't really all that interesting. You see, I was born and raised here in Gravity Falls. Ma and pa were born and raised here too. No one really leaves Gravity Falls once you start to live here. Not much change either. We're born here, grow up here and die here. There are people who come, a few go, but that's usually what happens in our little sleepy town. Nothing much happens here.

As for me? Well, I went through school here and, just like my parents and every single ancestor I have, I'm gonna stay here. I've gone through a lot of jobs because I mostly do whatever needs to be done here in Gravity Falls. We don't have a lot of people so if someone needs help, I'm usually the one they ring up. And hey, I don't mind not having a permanent job as long as I get some money out of it you know?

I've encountered a couple of weird things. Sometimes, there's floating furniture. Sometimes, there's some weird creature stalking people in the woods. Or sometimes it's a broken toaster. It's all part of living here in Gravity Falls. There are a lot of rumors and legends that surround our town. I don't really care whether it's true or not; if they pose a problem, I take care of them. If they don't, I leave them alone. But I'm pretty sure the kids out there are curious about them and maybe sometimes I keep an eye on the kids so they don't get hurt. The kids don't seem to really understand that some things are best left to the unknown. 

The less people who know about it, the better. I've thought of leaving Gravity Falls behind but this is home. Besides, if I don't stay here, who knows what kind of bull- I mean, what kind of trouble people will get into. You never know what happens in Gravity Falls."

"I've seen a lot of weird stuff in Gravity Falls and I got a couple of trinkets. Apparently, this ring I got from this weird woman in the woods helps me power through stuff. Pretty darn useful if you ask me."

"Gravity Falls is where my grandpa Gus grew up, but after his wife passed away due to leukemia he decided to sell the deed to the house his parents built and moved with his daughter Nelly to Portland where I was born shorty before she disappeared. 

That is all that he told me up until last week when he decided it was time I know a bit about my mother and her connection to the mystery surrounding Gravity Falls. 

Our family had deep roots in the history of that strange town, and infamously known for our great-great-great-grandmother commissioning an art piece depicting something triangular with an eye, I think? Anyways apparently she went insane after finishing the painting and disappeared into Gravity Falls forest. 

The article that Gus showed me said that before my great-great-great-grandmother disappeared she uttered the phrase 'Matron to the woods and lost to the ages as the devil directed my daughters are bound to his eternal cages' which makes no sense but I guess nothing here ever does.

Anyways, you said you want to know why we ended up here? Gus became homesick as he raised me and eventually he started taking odd jobs to put away more money for a 'rainy day' as he put it. But I always hoped it was for the deed he sold all those years ago, and I was super stoked that we were moving to the town where he grew up. 

So yeah, that is pretty much my story in a nutshell well actually I would say it was a tough nutshell to swallow."

Why don’t you lay your past on me? What are you even doing here? "My dad is a lumber tycoon. I'm super-popular, and athletic. I'm the poster boy for poster boys. We moved here two months ago. Oh, and also my secret. My dad was unemployed, living in a trailer. I was nerdy and unathletic. Then I found a kooky knickknack in the woods. I cracked the code after two months, and found a list of coordinates. I went to them and found a glowing blue pentagram with an eye in the middle. When I touched it, I woke up on my bed. But not in a tiny trailer- a manor. My dad went from unemployed hobo to successful lumber tycoon. I became ultra-popular and star of the track team. I'm not giving this up anytime soon! Once I have a job, my life will be perfect."

"I'm 14!.....Ok, I'm actually 13."

"To be honest, my life was and probably still is boring, I don't know why you want to know my past but ok. I wasn't born in Gravity Falls, I was born and raised in Texas, I grow up in a farm with my mama, papa and all the animals like cows, chickens and our two pets, our Liama, Adoncia and our duck, Sir Emigdio. My pets are my only friends I have ever I had and you are probably saying "Now Gilberta, those pets are not only friends, you probably have a lot of friends at your school, right?" Wellllll...You be wrong. Being taller than my classmates, they always made fun of me, they say things like "How the weather up there?" and "How it going, stretch?" you know, a tall person joke then and there. That why Adoncia and Emigdio are always there for me and they know that they love me.....Where was I? Oh! right, how did I move here. well, it not a great story.

Me and my family didn't know how it start it but there was big fire in our yard, it stared to spread to the farm and our home. We grab our animals and everything that we need from the house, we try to stop the fire but it was too late, the fire just eaten our farm and our home.
We were homeless for awhile but papa found us a new home and farm in a place called Gravity Falls, Oregon. At first, I thought it was a boring town to add in my boring life, I thought it was everything normal.....Or so I thought.

"We moved here late in spring? To Oregon, not America. America was two years ago. My dad is Persian and my mom is Kurdish, and we used to live in Iran. My dad and the rest of my family still live there, but my mom and my siblings live with me. Mom is weirdly quiet about why she tried to get us to America so badly, or why dad couldn’t come…But we’re trying to get him here eventually! We moved to Gravity Falls because the rent was cheap and my mother got work as a baker again. She brings home bread that's too old for the customers - sometimes she even lets us have sweets! Or rather, she lets me have sweets. Everyone else gets them all the time, I just don’t because I get extra hyper, hehe!"
