@BangoSkank My friends got me to try the beginning of DS3 not knowing I'd played DS1, so they were surprised that I didn't die at all in the fight against the guy with the sword stuck in him.

One friend was a little pissed I didn't die. I told them it's all in the way you approach playing the game.

That's a fun fight. I got through that part slow, killing the Sparkly Rock Iguana thing and farming the hell out of the hollows. Iudex Jungyr or something. RIP Sword In Your Chest homie.

DS3 is harder than the rest simply because the combat is quicker and the enemies are full of cheap combo moves. Honestly gameplay vise my favorite is SotFS followed closely by DS1 remastered with DS3 being a distant last. Lore vise though I don't get the hate some people had for DS2. Yes, it does its own thing and isn't a direct sequel and yes it's not as good story vise as DS1. But it's still a bloody solid game that beats almost anything on the market other than the original. And it really didn't deserve all the hatred it got.

Easiest depending on play style, staying calm and being patient. If your easily frustrated it will be hard to enjoy therefore it will be hard to play.

I can't pretend to know for certain. As I've only played some of Bloodborne. (And Lords Of The Fallen, which is regarded as one of the worst Souls-like.)

But wasn't DS1 Remastered, generally fan regarded as a cash grab, in that it barely changed anything for a full priced remaster? (Things like frame rate and minor graphical improvements that were done by the mod community already.) And yet it made certain things worse than before? Like added bugs that weren't in the game prior.

And similarly, I'm pretty sure Dark Souls 3 was made purposefully more accessible by its developers. (Maybe in contrast/backlash with how much they played up the "hardness" of Dark Souls 2 for marketing.)

And I don't know if "Lore" was the main reason anyone likes the Dark Souls games, but I don't think "Lore" was Dark Souls 2's problem. After watching videos from Mauler to Matthewmatosis, and plenty of others, its seems that Dark Souls 2 (and its own DLC) had plenty of things to dislike about it.

If you're actually curious to "get" why some may dislike it.

I've played and enjoyed my first few runs of Hades. Even if the first two deaths were related to me straight up not knowing the basic controls and mechanics. (In part due to my Switch Controller's switching/fucking up the normal buttons.) Yet still, it involved my character taking most of my damage from its traps. (By accidently rolling into them.)

Though thus far, the method in which it assures your death, feel a little cheap. (Like how it seems very unlikely for anyone to beat the first boss of the game, without first gaining access to the double dash ability that you get after you first lose.) Thus, immediately trivializing her attacks and difficultly thereafter. So, less of it is me "getting better", then the character gaining RNG abilities that break the challenge. My last run getting simple/low damage 'distant piercing attack' from my sword. But this alone made me dominate the fights and one-shot bosses. But with how health and healing works in the game, and how it feels artificially difficult to get. It really heightened the general feeling of "You're not actually that difficult at all. And if I could actually heal, you'd be dead."

So I hope that sense doesn't remain true later on.

DS1 remastered did 2 things right.
1. They included a couple quality of life improvements from DS2 into the game.
2. They made the controls far more PC friendly which allows you to actually play it on PC without having to buy a controller.

#2 is what did it for me. If they literally hadn't changed anything else I still would have bought it for that as I am a PC exclusive no controller player. I just don't enjoy the feel of controllers in my hands.

As for my comment about DS2 my point is fairly simple. Is DS2 a fantastic game worthy of DS1? No, of course not. There is plenty about it to dislike. But is it still a fantastic and fun game? Yes it is. And the sheer amount of hate it got is unwarranted as most of it came from people who were disappointed that it wasn't another masterpiece like DS1 and than massively overreacted. Same thing happened with DS3.

Evaluated on their own merit without comparing them to DS1 both are quite enjoyable and good games. DS2 even more so than DS3.

Dark Souls 2 SOTFS was my first Dark Souls game due to it being a better PC port than the Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition, so it holds a special place in my heart despite being what seems to be the least-liked game in the trilogy. It didn't require me to be familiar with most of DS1 since it did its own thing in terms of the setting, and I really liked how much of a mark the player can leave on the levels as they progress, like illuminating the Gutter, raising and lowering platforms in Shulva, stopping the Earthen Peak windmill, disabling the Iron Keep fire traps, bringing Brume Tower to life, and any time you can break walls with explosive barrels.

DS2 had shitty net code or something that made the "lag stab" really prevalent for a lot of people.

DS3 had kinda crap multiplayer, NGL. I think the expansion (which I never played) fixed a few things, but all the builds played more or less the same. If you wanted to PvP, there wasn't a lot of reason to spec into magic. Beyond troll spells like force of course.

I have more nostalgia for original Dark Souls because of memorable online PvP or whatever faction you were on like the Forest Dwellers having their own invasion scenario. Lackluster PvP in DS3 was a turn off and the "easy" reputation of DS2 was meh.

But guys...What about Demon Souls?

That's basically my experience as well.

As for multiplayer I will honestly say that I newer much enjoyed that whole aspect of the game anyway. For me the real fun was always PVE. So I can't comment on that.

Gamestop: Power To The Traders

Pummel Party is a okay time. (Better than the shit Mario Party on the Switch, at least.) Even if some of the mini-games controls were designed by lemmings.
