Basics
Full Name:Albedo Animus
Albedo: A latinised word meaning "Whiteness", and one of four stages of the Magnum Opus.
Animus: A Latin word, generally meaning a “motivating force” and emotion, compared to the static spirit of Anima.
Nickname/Alias:N/A
Age:17
Gender:Female
Race:Human
Appearance Description:Standing at five foot six, Albedo does not fit the part of a warrior, at least not when compared to many of her peers. Her skin is pale, but its flush of pink where she is unaccustomed to warmer climates serves to accentuate the sheer white of her hair, which tumbles past her shoulders, and to her mid-back, where it frames her lithe, and deceptively delicate, build. The core of her outfit is a black dress, accented with red, and trimmed in a gold, as with the aiguillette, the same colour as her eyes. Completing the military aesthetic of her wardrobe, she is backed with a high collared cloak of the same colour and material. A belt runs along her waist and skirt, with magnetic holsters on either side, for easy stowing and access of her weapon.
Allusion:The Magnum Opus
Personality
Personality:A thoroughbred Atlas elite, Albedo has more flaws than strengths when it comes to her attitude and outlook towards the world. She is arrogant, and condescending, and discriminatory, without much of a clear reason why. Between believing herself to be better than her peers, especially those of Faunus descent, and her superficial, clearly wealthy approach to Huntsman training and life overall, it would be easy to call her just another Atlas aristocrat and be done with it. For the most part, one wouldn't be wrong.
However, if there is one thing she puts stock in over anything else, even the high life as a member of the Anima family, it would be Huntsman training. Albedo is hardworking and diligent, focused on becoming the best fighter she can, though her reasons why are not as clean cut and concise. Unlike most other things in teh world, the work of Huntsman and Huntresses is not something she could look down upon, as to her it would be tantamount to besmirching her mother's name. Even the Faunus that take up the path of a Huntsman earn a slight of her respect, when compared to their brethren.
At her core, Albedo is a mess of adolescent confusion and a regimented, enticing upbringing. She is overconfident, to the detriment of her relationships and development as a Huntress, and to say that she is conceited would not be an overstatement. Her motivation for becoming a Huntress is muddled, barely more than an excuse to justify a change of pace and scenery, but she abides by it as gospel, because the alternatives range from unsavoury to unthinkable, loathe though she is to admit it. She is unprepared for what life as a warrior truly entails, from the sacrifices required to the hardships of the journey, and her prejudices and biases only makes it harder for her to comprehend it.

Biography
Country of Origin:Atlas
Bio:The Anima Manufacturing Group, led by the Anima family, is a key partner to the Atlas Military, as the single largest private munition and vehicle manufacturer in Atlas. Between privately owned mines in Solitas and Vacuo, and massive Dust exports purchased from the ADC, the Anima Group has been a longstanding producer of military cars, gunships, and drones, as well a forerunner in custom Huntsman weaponry, not to mention their cutting edge research into Hardlight Dust. As part of the technical nature of the manufacturing, the Anima Group does not use cheap Faunus labour like the ADC does, though they still use the ADC as a supplier. According to official company sources, and the tales told by the current family head, Regia Anima, the Anima family traces its roots back to some of the first settlers of Mistral, sharing their name with that of the continent upon which Mistral was founded - Anima. This family were some of the first to utilise Dust as a means of hastening their production of goods, and what started out as a merchant family led by a single man blossomed into the incredibly successful company as it is known as today. It is for this reason that for each given member, the men receive the surname "Anima", whilst the women are named "Animus".
Albedo Animus was the first and only child of Xanthe Animus, the first daughter and second child of the current Anima generation, and, officially speaking, Creta Katal, an Atlesian politician and former Councilman. Xanthe, as both a female and younger member of the family, set her sights on the path of a Huntress, fully aware that she would never advance within the meritocratic, patriarchal hierarchy of the Anima family without creating value for herself. In the Academy, it was said that she was reckless and fierce, and that she took to combat as easily as breathing. At graduation, instead of joining the Atlesian Military as was hoped of her, she took off to explore the world with her team, ONIX.
Within a number of years, she returned to her home, disabled, expecting, and without her Team. On the outskirts of Feldspar in Vacuo, the group was massacred by an unknown opposition, while protecting the town in the interim of them returning to Vacuo; the inhabitants of the town assumed the assailants to be a nest of Blind Worms, but they could not confirm whether that was true. Xanthe survived, barely, and was rescued, where she was taken to recover in the capital, before returning to Atlas. The arrival, and subsequent news of her pregnancy to a deceased member of her Team, was not kindly met. In a move to save face, as well as to solidify a family connection he had been cultivating, the previous family head and Xanthe’s father, Lapis Anima, organised her marriage to Creta.
Albedo's desire to attend Beacon and become a licensed Huntress was not one she had held for long. For the majority of her life, the length and breadth of her training and interest in combat resided solely in her imagination, and the privacy of her room, re-enacting what she imagined her mother's travels as a Huntress had been like. For over a dozen years, she was raised as any child of the Anima family was want to be - polite, diligent, talented, and intelligent. She might have remained that way, had her mother not been kidnapped and executed by White Fang extremists in a blackmail attempt gone sour, while her family made no move to even consider the demands made. Creta attempted to keep the issue obfuscated from Albedo, spinning it in such a way that Xanthe’s death was an assassination orchestrated by terrorists, but his only success was in shifting the goal posts; Albedo's plan for life shifted almost entirely to becoming a Huntress, intent on improving her status and creating a legend for herself, so that when the time came to choose a new head for the Anima family, she was guaranteed to be chosen.
Creta and Regia both forbid her from attending Atlas's Combat School, Calypso Academy, leading to her chartering a Huntsman of the Atlas Military, and former classmate of her mother's, Larix Francisca, to privately tutor her in the two years she had remaining before the Huntsman Examinations. In that time, she learned the basics of several fighting styles and weapons, eventually leading her to develop and engineer Rex Pulvis which, when combined with her Semblance, allowed her to make easy use of any weapon type she could need. Certain that her family would interfere with her education if she chose Atlas Academy, she enlisted Larix's help to find transport out of Atlas. Without Creta's permission, she arrived in Vale to undertake the Examination, where she only narrowly qualified for entrance to Beacon Academy, on the merit of her Semblance, and not her combative ability.
Combat
Weapon:Rex Pulvis is the name of two metallic, remarkably lightweight cylinders that Albedo calls her weapons. Each half of the full weapon is hollowed out, artificially weighted with Gravity Dust, and filled entirely with Dust crystals of every type, with the metal casing that surrounds it adeptly covered in dozens of nearly indiscernible holes, so that Dust energy can escape. In typical combat, they can either be used independently, single or dual wielded, or slotted together to create a Bo Staff. In either case, Albedo uses her Semblance to create blades of individual Dust types, which escape from the holes in the metal and fully form within a second. She can rapidly switch between elements, and adjust the quantity of Gravity Dust within each section to compensate for the increased weight of Stone and Ice Dust.
In particular situations, Rex Pulvis has the ability to quickly transform, producing a trigger and sight, the latter of which takes up no more room than a monocle, and uses Ice and Hardlight Dust to reflect light and mimic the magnification strength of larger, more powerful scopes. In this mode, it can be used as a sniper, or semi-automatic rifle, firing condensed psuedo-bullets of Dust, and the respective elements. Additionally, when separated as two handheld cylinders, each can produce a trigger and double as a pistol.
Semblance:Albedo's Semblance is called Transmutation, in which she is capable of projecting her Aura into materials, to actively modify the structure and properties therein. Transmutation's typical applications lie in altering the physicality of nearby terrain and structures, from producing spikes of asphalt or concrete from roads and buildings, to breaking apart obstacles and Dust creations, allowing it to act as an offensive, defensive, and utility Semblance in one. Its more unique ability, though, is its power to convert one type of Dust into another - simply by using Transmutation can Albedo transform, for example, Fire Dust into Gravity, or Wind, or Ice, or any other type, ensuring she always has access to enough of the most useful type of Dust at any given time.
At least a majority of her fingers are required to make contact in order to use her Semblance, but as an Aura can extend through the interior of something a Huntsman or Huntress wields, she does not need to make direct contact, so long as her Aura is capable of reaching the material in question. Generally speaking, she is limited by three things - casting time, material type, and Aura level. Small modifications take very little time, and very little Aura, but as the changes become more drastic, so does the cost. Additionally, she is limited to inorganic materials when transmuting, with wood being the only exception. Flesh, other plant matter, whatever Grimm are made of, and other similar examples are all immune to Transmutation.
